I have been to Miss Mai at Gawler Place a few times now. The go to order for me is the salad with noodles and roast pork (crackling). The crackling pork with the fresh salad just taste axcellent. I alternate sometimes with the tofu instead of the port. Highly recommended as well. For lunch, best to arrive early as there is usually a line already by 12:15pm. And that is the reason for the 4 starts. I would have given 5 if service is faster. As there are days when there is only 1 person serving which really puts you off especially if cueing takes about 10-15mins.

Always had good times with this place. Staff are nice people. Always good listeners.
I'm a big fan of the ingredients and taste and ambience.
I don't go to many Vietnamese places often so I'm not sure if this is common, but they have a chilli paste which spreads the spice out more.
Some chuck in cut chilli which brings it all on at once but this place gets it right.
た.
Decent place for lunch, been there on a few occasions, and there is always a line.
Staff serving me was quite full of himself, I can hear what you say under your breath. Almost walked out.
Personally banh mi is so common, there are better places out there. I won't be going back, but don't let this review discourage you from giving it a go.

MISS MAI, GAWLER PLACE
- not too bad
- roast pork was delicious
- service was ok
- asked for extra coriander but did not get
- asked for chilli but did not get
- also they put lettuce on which I wish they didn’t
- cut in half and was my request

Miss mai is a wonderful venue to eat at. Pork is always wonderful and the owner is always wanting to make sure his customers are satisfied

Today I ordered a salad bowl and rice noodle with chicken, chicken was really tasty but it was a bowl of rice noodle with some shredded cucumber and carrot and no lettuce.it was not a bowl of salad.

Absolutely our fave place to go to get our banh mi craving fixed!! The sauce or spices that they use is generous and this is what we're looking for. On top of that the pork crackling and bbq is amazing! Our #1 place to go so far in the city!

Best Vietnamese in Adelaide and great service! I walk 15min and walk past two Vietnamese shops just to order at Miss Mai.
So delicious and spicy!

Five months later, it's still so good! So fresh and the pork crackling is well seasoned. Also, they give me a decent amount of chilli. 🌶🌶🌶

Awesome place!! They have my favorite noodle bowls and banh mi, and they are super friendly.

My cousin and I grabbed lunch here last week and it was amazing! Food was so fresh and the employees were so sweet and accommodating! The only downside is the lineup, but I totally get it. It was very well worth the wait! (Which was like 10 minutes) so not bad at all!! Would recommend this to anyone :)

Friendly staff, yummy food, generous portion, quick service. This is like subway for Vietnamese street food but 3x better. Highly recommend roasted pork banh my xx

This place really is sensational value, quality and consistency. $10.50 for a delicious, hearty roast pork vermicelli salad - generous size is so good. It is a genuinely hearty meal and tasty as. 11/10.
Come here about once a fortnight - great work guys

Best banh mi in Adelaide. Once you've had Miss Mai nothing will ever compare again.

the hot roast pork rolls (Banh Mi) looked delicious but i had an appointment to go to so i had to choose the rice paper rolls, to eat later. i got lemongrass chicken. i was surprised that it was dark meat, i thought it would be white. next time i will choose prawn rolls. but there was a very generous amount of the chicken and it was fresh, tender and juicy, the veges very fresh. the staff were lovely. it was a great value healthy, low fat meal. the service was fast.

Best bahn mi in town, the roast pork is to die for. Excellent service and quality. I can't have another bahn mi from anywhere else, these guys set the new standard. Loyal customer and will continue to be. Theres always a line by the door for a reason people!
I don't even write reviews, I did this because I love this place that much haha
Edit - 10 months later the prices have gone up $1.50ish which is sad, but the quality is still there. Shame it's become a bit expensive now

We took the rice box with pork. And took a spoonful of the chilli. it was all delicious. So hearty, filling and flavorful. And the portion size was good for the two of us. Tummy full.
S. A.
One of the cheapest Bahn mi In the city, hence the queue. Very generous with the chicken, very crunchy roll. Looses points for no daikon.
J. K.
Price could have been better. Food nice- I had the roast pork banh mi which I thought could have been less salty. More veges could be nicer too. Service could have been faster- Ie. Physically making the rolls. Nice but not the best

Thought I'd give this place a go after not enjoying my steamed rice and roast pork meal at the other branch down south. Unfortunately it was much the same. Did not enjoy the roast pork as it was shredded and dry rather than sliced like normal and with the addition of soya sauce on top the meal was too salty. Never been to an Asian place that does pour soya sauce over white rice before. I'll try the meat rolls next time

I only go past all these places, but i never go inside, but the Google reviews say I've been in hundreds of places which I haven't been in at all, that's all I meant, it's nothing to do with your store at all, but 'coz the location settings are turned on, on my phone, then Google reviews assume I've been to all these places, do you get what i mean now - Miss 66 year old owner? - I've been told your food is great, but I can't afford to eat out as i only get - $120 a week to live on, Okay? Nothing against you at all & even rich people "dumpster dive" 'coz there's SO much fresh food wastage in Australia & the whole Western World, Cheers 👍

Awesome tasting Bahn Mi but they are on the pricier side. Having said that, the bread rolls are usually packed well with your choice of meat so you definitely get your money's worth.
N. T.
Up until today I used to come here nearly everyday. $8 combo packed with meat was decent value. Popped in today to grab one and you've jacked the price $1.50 over the weekend without telling anyone?
Thanks for the memories but I'll duck somewhere closer for a $6.50 one. Pretty disappointing.

Without a doubt the best salad bowls in the city. The roast pork is to die for. They offer with or without noodles too which is awesome. Huge salads so you're not left hungry

Everytime Im in Adelaide I stop by Miss Mai. The food is simple and great. Simple menu honoring vietnamese bahn mi. While it can get busy at lunch, the food is always amazing. So great I had it twice on my last trip. So simple, so delicious.
P. M.
It's on the expensive side for a Vietnamese roll, but man are they ever generous with the huge rolls packed so full they need to do bread CPR to close the things
m. j.
Great pork rolls. Because its popular there is often a queue, but it moves quickly. The noodle salad is huge, and delicious with honey chicken.
C. W.
A great lunch place that i used to go to when i lived in CBD. They serve fab huge bread rolls and salad bowls. I've been missing Miss Mai since i moved out of city to suburb…
K. W.
Really really good, it's cheap but generous servings of protein. Staff are always incredibly friendly :)
B. H.
Very generous servings, the best roast pork, and always friendly service.
L. T.
This is my go-to uni lunch, it's always absolutely delicious! The line can look daunting around midday but you'll be in and out before you know it - they've got the lunch rush down to a fine art.
D. R.
Tasty banh mi (Vietnamese roll) but they're expensive and no combination available.
K. M. O.
A Vietnamese take away shop without a Vietnamese. But still has good Banh Mi
P. M.
One of the more popular noodle salad places. For good reason. Large portions and the noodles are the best around. Best place in the city for a noodle bowl.

My favourite vietnamese place in the city, every friend I bring here loves it. Just wish they were open for dinner as well!!
J. Q.
Good place to have lunch, love the rice and noodle salad. For extra $2 - $2.5, they will add massive extra meat for you.
D.
Had the chicken and pork fried rice. A cool feature is that they offer complimentary hot green tea self served while you are there.
T. H.
Great rolls in particular. Absolutely loaded with filling and taste. Just be prepared to wait in a very long line if you go at peak time.
B. H.
Delicious food, friendly efficient staff. Considering how popular this place is they do well to get the takeaway orders quickly through.
Q. C.
Can't go wrong with this place
The staff are friendly the only thing that bites is the birds eye chilli
Warren is a laugh every time I visit.
Affordable everyday food you can eat at a great location.
S. K.
Always such lovely service and great food. Usually a long line over lunch time, but it moves quickly and it’s worth the short wait.
