Delicious Afghan cuisine!! Try their Eggplant and Karayee Morgh. Desserts are simply amazing.
M. T.
Lovely food. Eggplant dish was superb. Dumplings great. Lamb was bit tough and bland. Original and welcoming decor. Service was lacking- young and disinterested waiters. Did not know details of the dishes offered. Young man informed us coffee was not on menu due to Afghani religion! I dont think so 🙄
C. J. H.
What an amazing place to have great food.
J. K.
Really enjoyed my visit. The food was yummy and the service great.
It's BYO and I love the corkage goes to charity.
So many great vegetarian options.
The aubergine dish is gorgeous!
T. T.
We dined there on a Saturday night and ordered the banquet. The food was delicious. We also ordered the dessert and I was pleasantly surprised.
Customer service was outstanding.
Thankyou, Parwana, for a great night out.

A long-standing Adelaide classic and staple among the Afghan cuisine community. Menu has remained the same for many years with people continually returning (and us in particular) for the dumplings, lamb and rice. We had the 6pm Sunday dinner time slot and within half an hour all tables had seatings so it would be wise to book ahead. There’s parking on Henley Beach Road and street parking on Northcote and Danby Street.
N. B.
Absolutely incredible food! The banquet, wow, a brilliant way to taste a range of dishes. Great service, not licenced but from other tables it looked like you can BYO. Not sure if there is a corkage fee. Astounding, will be back

I was part of a large group that had dinner at Parwana Afghan Kitchen and we opted for the feed me menu. This was a great option as we got to try pretty much everything on the menu. Generous serves and the food was delicious. Parwana is not licenced but their BYO corkage fees are really reasonable and I think they donate it to charity.

Great experience, amazing food, price and service. Flawless! We’ll back soon

In history of my visits to restaurants, this is the first restaurant where i cleaned all the plates. Never had such an awesome experience before. Don't forget a plate of eggplants. You will thank me later.

Love the story of this place, so heartwarming and wholesome!
Book early for this place! I went a few years ago and HAD to go back with my partner and anyone else I could convince! Great food, timely service and warm interior! Thanks! Get the dumplings and the borani banjan!
S. M.
Beautiful Ethiopian food. Hospitable staff. Felt welcomed & appreciated the decor that is being changed to reflect the Ethiopian culture. We will return!
S. A. D.
We went there on Sunday and I really love the eggplant dish (sorry, forgot the menu name)!
It was awesome. The place itself is really cute, but not too flashy. Somehow for me it almost felt like eating in an aunty’s or grandma’s home.
J. L.
Many have raved about this establishment and the verdict: Excellent 👌 We were travelling in and we just couldnt miss this spot on our trip. The rice dish was great! We enjoyed the grilled lamb dish a lot. Portions are plenty big and value is excellent. Highly recommended!
D. A. D.
Lovely atmosphere and food came out very quick after ordering. Super tasty. I will definitely be returning.

The food at Parwana is always tasty, however, the taste of the food was somewhat soured on this dining experience. We waited ages to receive menus, for our orders to be taken. We ordered mains and then desserts and tea.... our order was taken, some desserts served, we were informed that they wouldn't be serving our pot of tea because the 8 o'clock sitting would be starting... they did however manage to bring out the last dessert. It didn't make any sense, we would have easily finished the tea in the time taken to eat the desserts, they clearly wanted to charge the money for the desserts. Very lack lustre service and just completely changed my opinion of Parwana.
If you want to try the food, go to the one in the city
G. M.
Amazing dinner experience, a small but delicious menu. Everything we got was served quickly, well sized, and most importantly delicious.
J. F.
I have been here a few times in the last couple months and my reviews are similar to others. The food is great!
Its a small family run place and you know when booking its not fine dining, but if you are happy to be in a crowded, loud, exciting small room with great food this place is for you.
The only downsides are that the food comes out very quickly, I think this is due to the set menus they use for different days of the week so I assume a lot of the entrees and main are ready to go. The last 2 times we have been in and out in 45mins just because the food came as soon as we ordered (even before the drinks arrived). I guess if you make a booking after 8:30pm you will be able to be a bit more relaxed, but be aware from 6-8:30 its busy.
We will be going back.
s. 1.
Very very nice food along with lovely staff and a cozy atmosphere make this a must try....if you haven't be sure to put this place on the list.
L. F.
Everything was absolutely fantastic. Authentic, delicious food in an amazing environment! It was a great experience! I love everything about this restaurant:)
J. K.
Every time we came to Adelaide, it seems to have more and more excellent eatery. This time round, it is Parwana.
This restaurant is nicely located on Henley Beach Road (somehow Google map will direct you to Northcote Street which is to the side of the restaurant. The front door is on the main road). Once you step in, it is a lovely decorate with Rose water bottles and other drinks can.
The service is fast and we got to our seats straightaway. There are 2 seating time on Sunday, 6-6.30, and 8pm. We took the earlier seating.
Food was a little bit of a wait once it has been ordered but it definitely worth it. We have the eggplant and the lamb as recommended and had the candied orange rice (yay you can get half serve). Oh my goodness, everything is on point. The eggplant is silky, very tasty with the yoghurt sauce. The Lamb with the chutney is amazing. The rice, yes, pretty sure that's the best. You might think, candied orange. Once you taste it, you know it is there but not overpowering.
With the pricing and the serving size, we will be coming back next time for visit.
Oh one more thing, you would want to call up to book in advance. It is fully seated even on a Sunday night.
S. S.
Loved the way they have represented the cuisine. Great ambiance. Amazing food. Very big portion size.
N. R.
The food is really good and reasonably priced. I went around 8.30pm on a Sunday and it was packed. The customer service however wasn't great. The staff aren't very friendly and mixed up our order a bit.
D. W.
What can I say about this place that hasn’t already been said?! The colours and textures of the food were amazing. The service was adequate even though the restaurant was full all night! Great value for money. A real treasure Adelaide can call it’s own. We’ll visit again when we return!
A.
There are many tasty vegetarian options and everything was super tasty from entree through to the desserts. Absolutely loved the puddings for dessert- perfect amount of sweetness! Unlike any other dessert I've ever had!!
R. C. T.
Delicious Afghan cuisine!! Try their Eggplant and Karayee Morgh. Desserts are simply amazing.
S. T.
Restaurant run by a lovely family with beautiful food. Highly recommend trying multiple dishes to get a real taste of the Afghani cuisine (you can reduce the size of the main dish to an entree on request). The dumplings and pistachio/rose ice cream are a must have - delicious!! Be sure to make a booking for this place as it gets booked out very very fast.
A. C.
Amazing Afghan food, best in Adelaide by my standards. I love the eggplant, chicken and rice. Everything was just amazing!! Staff are lovely, feels like they’ve invited you over for dinner. Corkage fee for wine but free for byo beers, which is fantastic. Make sure to book well in advance because they’re often fully booked on weekends.
N. Y.
Delicious Afghan cuisine!! Try their Eggplant and Karayee Morgh. Desserts are simply amazing.
B. K.
The food was good, I like the menu it has very limited options but whatever there is tasty and has some authentic touch of afghani food to it.
A. Q.
I have had much better Afghan food in other places around Adelaide. But I guess the vibe and the seating are quite lovely in comparison. The serving sizes are also on the minimal side.
S. O.
The food is average and not memorable. The dishes had a generic taste profile, however, the decor and ambience was great. Had high expectations, but did not quite deliver. Usually there is a wait for dinner. Good for large groups.
D. F.
No question the best meal I've had in Adelaide. Whilst I love establishments like Oggi and Shobosho, the clean fresh flavours here are mind blowing. Will definitely be back. Service here is also great.
G. M.
Possibly the BEST Afghan restaurant in the Southern Hemisphere!! Exquisite flavours that linger in your mouth for hours after... Amazing staff and prompt service
J. M. (.
Amazing food and good value. Great friendly service. Get a good mix of dishes and share for the full experience. We will be back!
D. T.
Lovely Food. Ordered dumplings, murg pulav , eggplant, everything was good. Wanted to order dessert and tea after meal but waited 25 minutes and no one came to clear empty plates on table or to check on food. Service definetly needs improvement. Had to wait near till for 10 minutes for finally someone to come out of kitchen. PS. It was not on weekend (Thursday 11 Nov).
L. L.
Restaurant looks great and staff are very friendly. The food and quality is good however the dishes were not as delicious or amazing as we imagined with all the incredible reviews. It was still a good meal to try at least once. For us, it's not worth a repeat trip due to the 2 week reservation wait and cost ($250 for 4 people).
A. S.
Delicious food at amazing prices. BYO is an added bonus too. Highly recommended when in Adelaide; but be sure to book well ahead!
T. N.
Food was alright. Some good dishes, some not so good. Shared with a large group. Serving sizes were generous.
S. N.
Good ambience, a bit overpriced though as their food is not very different from what other afghan restaurants offer. Tried the Kofta, Afghani Pulao and Karahi all three dishes lacked flavour and were decent at best. Owner and servers were polite and welcoming.
S. G.
Great food, staff very friendly... Definitely keep coming back
F. S.
Such a lovely place, you can tell the owner works hard to provide an excellent service. Very happy 😊
A. T.
Wonderful place full of magic and wonderful foods all done with love.
P. S.
Here, you're family. Let the food do all the work, you've probably had a hard day. Made with love, and really great value!
E. F.
Very nice restaurant to invite friends for sharing great food!
m. l.
Have been here twice now and enjoyed the food both times. Friendly service, delicious food, clean premises, heated in winter. Reasonably priced, good value.
N. “. P.
Fantastic food! Great price and the quality was amazing. Very warm and cosy atmosphere.
H. M.
Cool place to hang out with friends and family. Limited options in starters a bit of a disappointment.
L. T.
Comfortable atmosphere. Tasty and authentic. It was all great, but particularly enjoyed the eggplant. Very impressed.
R. G.
I have been living in Adelaide for eight years, but I have never tried such delicious food at other Afghan restaurants. What a lovely place with yummy food and excellent customer services. Hope to go back very soon.
G. B.
Outstanding food and great atmosphere. Staff is also super friendly.
A. F.
Delicious! If you want to drink alcohol, then it is BYO only.
D. M.
one of our favourites . love it so much we bought their cookbook
h. w.
I love this restaurant so much that i bought their beautiful recipe book. I would search for parwana recipes online from time to time after seeing them featured on food safari, in the hopes there was more out there. So when the book came out i was so excited and was not disappointed. Recently had a banquet meal with 11 family members and we were inundated with amazing dishes ( two of each) and left with plenty of left overs. Can't recommend enough. The food and the atmosphere is like a big warm hug
R.
The food and ambience were amazing! I have never had Afghan food before but I will defs come back. Staff were attentive and nice. Highly recommend~
A.
Beautiful authentic Afghan food in quite a small restaurant, yet always packed and busy. Quick service and amazing food. Dessert, and drinks available too
B. L.
Great food, good portion size, fast service. Will go back for sure, I love eating in a restaurant that doesn't rip me off
J. B.
The menu changes depending on the day of the week, so there is a wide range and variety. Delicious food!
J. B.
There is no secret to Parwana's success.
Just serve great food with great flavors by pleasant gracious hosts. Very simple formula done to perfection.
L. T.
ah the food! amazing tasty food in a nice ambient. We tried the banquet, which feeded us plenty and very tasty. Strongly reccomended for also vegetarian (plenty of non meat option that are very good) expecially the eggplant!
A. T.
Delicious food in a cute location - a must visit in Adelaide!
J. J.
Always fantastic food!
I always order as below:
BANJAAN BORANI
Our signature eggplant simmered in fresh tomato sauce, topped with garlic yoghurt and mint. Vegan option available.
Must order dish. The flavours are delicious and a good dish to order If you are with people who have a less adventurous pallet.
Pekowrah
Spiced vegetable fritters, served with chutney
I’ve ordered these every time but the last time I found them to be really dry and not very flavoursome. The chutney is delicious though.
Kabuli Palaw
An aged long grain rice, topped with caramelised carrots, sultanas, slivered almonds and pistachios
Rice has never tasted so good.
Morgh Lawang
Chicken pieces slow cooked in a yoghurt sauce and infused with a traditional mix of Afghan spices. Served with naan, salata and Parwana chutney
This was my favourite dish. So much flavour.
All dishes were shared between two people and they are really generous sizes.
My only gripe is that we usually order the trio of dips with veggies sticks but the last time the kitchen wouldn’t allow us because there were too many tables..not sure what that means but for GF people it’s always nice to have that option. Would be nice if it was a little warmer inside.
Must go to restaurant in SA.
Always a winner
N. S.
Fantastic food, the restaurant is now double the size, book before coming
N. G. v. H. P.
Magnificent.
So understatedly fantastic.
Every dish was sublime, the service was incredibly quick. We were so into it, we even bought the book!
We will be back!
S. R.
Amazing food and quick service. Limited menu but worth it. Portion size is good. Best dishes to have are Chukayih(trio dips platter), Vegetarian Dumplings, Banjan Borani(eggplant curry), Dahl(lentils), Sour Cherry Sharbath, Walnut & Ginger ice-cream(superb).
J. P.
I have been here a couple times and the food is absolutely delicious. I strongly recommend the dumplings, steamed and fried. They come with complementary sayces, it's very rich and satisfying 😁. I really liked the lamb pita bread. The cumin taste mwah, I can still taste it.
The garlic and spinach was not so good and it can get very loud in the main room. Otherwise it was a pleasant place to eat
N. B.
One of the very best restaurants in Adelaide. In terms of the quality and taste of their dishes. The food is always absolutely amazing. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.
M. N.
Very good food, and decent prices. Service was good. Portions were enough. We brought our own wine. The starter had a good variety of tasty dips. There are good vegetarian options. Atmosphere is nice, not too loud, pleasant decor. Menu is small, which I don't mind. Try the eggplant, it's delicious!
V. d. S.
This is a small and intimate place with fantastic food and good service. I highly recommend ordering a few dishes and sharing everything. Due to the size of the place, advance bookings are a must. The rice dishes are delicious and the meatballs, dumplings and chicken are all wonderful. There are also some very tasty vegetarian options (try the eggplant!) that can also be veganised. The dip plate is also vegan!
J. M.
Great service and byo, good selection also.
M. M.
Really popular place, must book. Great atmosphere. Food is good. Byo, $10 corkage, not bad eh?
L. H.
very flavoursome food. byo only I believe
M. V.
Huge thanks to Tess for such lovely service, highly recommend.
G. W.
First time I've been there. Didn't know what to expect. Menu looked good on the website. We were in a big group and had one of each on the menu. Excellent! I really loved the spinach dish. Quite spicy. Everything was good. I will go again.
A. S.
Delicious food at reasonable prices. Good service. I would suggest booking as I went there on a Tuesday and it was super busy.
S. P.
I love the food this place does, not only is every dish delicious the prices are fantastic value, plus you can bring your own beer at no cost!! Awesome, probably the best bang for buck in town. Really nice staff too.
M. M.
Tasty food and nice atmosphere.
Very reasonable corkage fee too, which goes to charity. So lovely.
S. D.
Great fresh flavours and atmosphere
T. N.
So good as always. Must book.
J.
Our favourite restaurant in Adelaide. Food is exceptionally flavourful. Every single item on their menu is worth trying.
While this place gets very busy (even on weekdays), it maintains a very homey feel.
Highly recommended.
R. E.
Delicious food in an informal setting. We selected to share a few dishes between us - all were excellent. Bit noisy inside the restaurant as it was packed ( we were there at 18:30 on a Tuesday so definitely recommend booking a table)
D. S.
Food was amazing. 14 at our table had $30 'banquet' and the food just kept coming out. Beautiful, fresh and tasty.
H. J.
I don't know how you could eat here and not rate it 5 stars. Possibly my favourite restaurant in Adelaide. It's reasonably priced, BYO, and insanely delicious. Highly recommend the dumplings (the pastry is like silk), and the eggplant dish. Everything on the menu is heavenly. Every time I eat here I over-eat and need to be rolled out the door. Mouth watering as I'm typing this. Booking a table tonight.
L.
Service and ambient is great, however I found the food average. In particular the naan bread didnt taste good and was not fresh.
i. h.
It is always a treat to the taste buds. Authentic afghan home made food. Every dish is a must try. The freshest food you will find. Ambiance is very good and the staff is very friendly.
Highly recommended.
K. D.
Great food, great ambiance, great around afgan restaurant. Came highly recommend. Love the mandu dumplings and lamb :)💓
C. D.
This is a comfort food at its finest. Dinning in there makes you feel like you were visiting a typical Afghan home, even if you don't have any idea of how it is supposed to be, or how the food are supposed to taste. The food is surprisingly good, and the customer service makes you feel at home.
C.
A must visit & a must advance booking. Food and services are top notch. Do order the rice dish and the eggplant with full of spice and fragrance. Best way to experience Afghanistan culture through food. Been here every time when friends visit Adelaide. BYO is acceptable and easy parking off the residential area.
D. P.
Never had Afghanistan food before but it won't be my last. This place is known for it's beautiful food and it won't let you down. Only open for evening meals so book in so you are dissapointed!!!!!
N. T.
Food, service and vibe is just wonderful 👌
K. H.
Great restaurant, food is fresh and delicious. BYO only, no alcohol sold onsite, cheap corkage which is then donated to charity. Recommended.
L.
Delicious food, beautiful decor. As a vegetarian I loved the eggplant dish and the steamed dumplings! Can’t wait to go back.
T. D.
I've been multiples times now, and never have I been disappointed. Parwana has a great menu which differs every couple of nights (see their website for menus), but has a fantastic variety to cover all tastes and suitable for vegetarians too. The meals are best shared with your fellow diners as a banquet, with one main ordered for each person. The starters and naan are a must too. Best to book, as this place is often very busy, especially on a Friday night.
J. L.
I have wanted to try Parwana for a long time and was suitably impressed! Parwana features a small menu of delicious Afghan food with great vegetarian options. Their signature eggplant dish banjaan borani was everything I'd hoped for. Melt in your mouth eggplant with delicious creamy yoghurt on top. The decor is simple and the service friendly. Incredibly well priced with the option to BYO makes Parwana very affordable too. Will definitely be back!
B. H.
Delicious food! Friendly staff and efficient service especially as restaurant was very busy. We left very happy and hope to return soon.
A. M.
Service was fantastic, lovely, attentive staff. Food was ok.... Eggplant is a must. Corkage goes to help the homeless community 👏❤️
I. I.
It was an amazing "Authentic Afghan Cusine" experience. Food awesome and host was very nice.
I called luckily called early evening to find out opening hours and found out t had to be booked till 8:00pm and no booking is taken after 8:00pm
Owner was straightforward not unwelcoming as some reviews suggested that. And atmosphere inside is more like traditional Afghan houses so sorry for some people who expected nice and comfy interior:)
Will go again whenever visit Adelaide
J. S.
Amazing. Some of the best food in adelaide. Very well priced.
G. N.
We had a fantastic meal here celebrating a friend's birthday.
The best food and a great night!
E. M. W.
Absolutely amazing! It was my first time eating Afghan food and it didn't fail to impress. The food is flavoursome packed full of spices and herbs and is very fragrant. And it's very affordable too - great value! Will definitely be back
G. L.
Great, flavoursome food and beautiful decor. Dumplings and eggplant were the highlight. Definitely recommend!!
C. S.
Amazing food and brilliantly catered for all dietary requirements (celiac, vegan and dairy free)
a.
Parwana is one of those hidden gems, you almost don't want to tell people about it, it is so good.
I dined there on Saturday night with 3 other people, the restaurant was packed, our service was excellent and food was delivered very quickly considering it was a packed house.
The food is excellent, from the dumplings to the eggplant and especially the aromatic rice dishes. Even the desserts were simple but delicious.
D. M.
Great atmosphere, great food, good service.
C. U.
Great place to go with a small group as they serve share plates. You just need to order a main each and share. We always order the candied orange rice dish... the best rice dish I have ever had. I suggest booking ahead as it can be hard to get a table as this place is very popular.
A. F.
First time I tried Afghan cuisine and I wasn't disappointed. The food was very nice with lots of flavours, especially cardamom. The atmosphere is pleasant although a bit noisy. Don't forget to bring your own bottle as the restaurant isn't fully licensed.
T. K.
Never had Afghan until I went here but all I will say is this was one of the very best meals I have ever eaten out. I am not a chef or anything so I can only describe the meal as tasting amazing. The portion sizes were just right and it was the kind of meal that didn't make me feel too full afterwards but in no way hungry. This is one of those I can't believe I hadn't been there before that has now become somewhere that is first option when I decide to eat out
S. W.
I have a great attachment to this place, having been a customer almost from the beginning. Years ago it would've been five stars, easy. The food is consistently delicious--absolutely outstanding on that front--but the staff can be hard to pin down and the new (ish) space is very, very noisy. Vego options aren't plentiful, but then the menu isn't huge. I've had pretty much the same thing every time and never been disappointed.
D. L.
One of my favourite restaurants in Adelaide. Really friendly staff and tasty food. The eggplant dish is absolutely delicious. Food is best shared so order a few plates and enjoy.
F. A.
Fantastic service and food! Couldn’t recommend this more. Would be 5 stars if it wasn’t so noisy. Hard to hear each other as the room seem to echo all conversations.
G. P.
One of, if not the, best meal I've had in Adelaide. I had heard so many good things over the past few years but only went for the first time last week. I am happy to say that Parwana totally lived up to the hype. Quaint décor, friendly staff, and incredibly flavourful food in generous portions. You could not ask for more. As an added bonus, they are BYO with no corkage!
E. M.
Delicious food and great service!
C. A.
This place may not look all that fancy but the food definitely makes up for it - the aromas, the tastes, even the presentation are perfect.
It has been packed every time I have dined there, and every time the service has been prompt and friendly.
Definitely one of the gems of Adelaide
J. C.
Great service! Food is superb and service is quick. Just make sure to book ahead of time as this place is always on high demand.

Great details in their interior design, food is amazing, the Narenj Palaw here would be the nearest Narenj Palaw I have ever tasted here in Adelaide.
F. G.
Delicious food and friendly staff!

Authentic.Fresh and tasty.. Great service. House made desserts are superb.

I tried most of the foods here, without any doubt, all of them are great.

This was my first try of real Afghan cuisine and I was so impressed! Food rich and indulgent and great service too. Nice atmosphere but quite busy so arrive early if you can.
A. G.
Eaten here a few times, consistently excellent. Don't be fooled by the number of options on the menu - what's there is brilliant, the flavours synchronise harmoniously and compliment one another. The aubergine is a stand out dish.
L. T.
Fantastic food. Only thing you can do wrong is not order all the dishes - so go with a big enough group! The eggplant and the ice cream are particularly amazing! Great value too.
D. T.
Very tasty food with reasonable prices and generous portions. Service was good and atmosphere was nice. Especially liked the way most of the dishes are made to be shared. Only reason not 5 stars is because interior decor/design could use a bit of work. Other than that would highly recommend, A+ food. Om nom nom.
M. C.
Delicious food and friendly service. Not a big menu to choose from. Everything we had was very tasty and loved the homemade ice cream.
M. P.
Great food but no atmosphere.
s. p.
Real nice food and attentive staff. Would definitely visit again.
M. P.
We had the most delicious meal here on a Tuesday night. Made a booking for the 8pm seating & ordered way too much, but my favorites were: the dumplings, the eggplant (borani banjan), the rice with caramelised carrot, plus the pickles too (not at all spicy). We also ordered the chicken with naan but we were getting full by then, and we could have done without it. Highly recommend a visit here for a casual, authentic (presumably) Afghan meal. A must in Adelaide!
P. B.
Excellent food, dumplings are delicious, eggplant also, meat dishes, we had both, awesome.
Service was casual and respectful.
Value for money guaranteed.
p. s.
Great food but diabolical service. Table next to me who came in after me had their meals 10 minutes before me - then my wife had finished her meal and I still had not got mine - when I complained I was told I was being agressive - but I had gone out for our anniversary to eat dinner together not alone - anyway don’t go here if you don’t want to be called agressive for asking where your food is
J. S.
loved it. Great food and service. Only problem is that I enjoyed it so much we encroached on the next sitting; so somewhere to finish the early sitting drinks would be better, before leaving.
F. A.
One of if not my absolute favourite restaurant in Adelaide. There's not a huge amount on the menu (which changes slightly depending on which day of the week you go) but that's a good thing really as I recommend trying everything on there, I've been loads and ended up trying things I had no idea I was going to like as much as I did when I finally tried it.
Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait as it gets very busy but the staff are always nice and the food is fantastic, decent portions and reasonably priced and quite unlike most other places in Adelaide.
B. G.
Outstanding and efficient service. Food is truly delicious, a trip to the homeland.
N. F.
Been here three times now, and each occasion the service has been outstanding, and the food so delicious! Highly recommend the eggplant, chicken quormah and the kabuli rice. One of Adelaide’s best places to dine!

Visited from interstate. This food is some of the best in Adelaide.
Good service and amazing food. We will be back.
F. H.
Great food, both delicious but with a great mix of spices! Would recommend definitely worth a visit! Place was full on a Saturday night, great atmosphere
J. M.
Absolutely amazing food and service. The owner of the restaurant was very friendly. The pistachio ice-cream so good I could go back just for that!
O.
Great details in their interior design, food is amazing, the Narenj Palaw here would be the nearest Narenj Palaw I have ever tasted here in Adelaide.
C. P.
Firstly I loved the ambiance when I walked in. The restaurant was full and lively and the interior was traditional yet chic a blend of modern and the past middle east. From the artistic messy paint on the wall, the blue doors to the bright coloured tiles, the whole place gives such a warm feeling!
Now the food. The 5 stars I have given say it all! Heard about this place through a friend as it was listed as one of the finalists for the best restaurants in Adelaide.
From the Morgh Pilau to the eggplant signature (a MUST try) and the feather soft Naan Bread every bite was a feast in the mouth! I tried the dips for entree and all three dips were divine!
The meat was so tender and cooked well in the Pilau, it was falling off the bone. The spice flavours were significant but not over powering. My company of 5 savoured every bite and was devastated when we could't finish some of the dishes (Don't be fooled by the standard size few bites and you are full)! Service was quick and friendly. After a long time I found a concise menu and I wanted to try each and every one of them! Only minus point though the kitchen closes by 8.30pm or 9.00pm Online opening hours are mentioned till 10.00pm. This is misleading as opening hours are usually the kitchen hours. However it's WORTH making that reservation a day earlier!
Will be back!
A. J.
Food is not really authentic Aghani. It is a mix of modern Greek with Aghan recipes. It was worth trying. In addition to that, staff was very welcoming and helped us decide the best dish. Cheers!
G. Y.
Good food, great flavours. They have expanded the restaurant, new section. I feel that the last time I ate there before they expanded was much better.
J. H.
As we entered, the owner greeted me by name (we’d made a booking) and shook my hand. To me, it’s these small, simple gestures really make a difference. The eggplant dish (banjaan borani) was the highlight for me and the potato qorma was very filling too (NB. very vegetarian friendly place). Adelaide needs more restaurants like Parwana! It was a great experience and I will definitely be back.
Z. L.
Such a delicious assortment of authentic dishes and the most beautiful, warm-hearted staff! We were treated like part of the family! We’ll definitely be back!
N. B.
Friendly staff, good food and nice restaurant. Recommended to try this place for something a little out of the norm.
P. G.
Great food, great host, heart in the sleeve... approach him and ask about the story behind this place! Some waiters a bit grumpy but I don’t care because I come there for food not others attitudes
D.
Fabulous food, enjoyed a banquet with friends, great selection! More than enough food to share.
I. A. O.
One of the best restaurants in town. Steamed dumplings with lamb sauce, aubergine dish and their curries are a must try. It is always very crowded and reservation is needed. It's BYO.
R. D.
Delicious. Fantastic food. Humming atmosphere. Unpretentious. Value for money. Try it out but make sure you book
D. A. S.
Best afghan food ever.....lot of ethnic food places serving mediocre indiàn, thai, chinese serving jar sauces and bad quality ingredients should come learn how good authentic home made food served with love and passion creates magic in mouth. Highly recommend and will come back for sure!
B. H.
Great food. No really great food. But only three staff to serve a full house. Really needed more staff. Did I mention great good😀
K. R.
Outstanding. Great food, excellent service and awesome pricing. BYO corkage donated to charity. Visit this place as soon as you can.
F. E.
The food was incredible good. With us bringing own wine the cost was also very low. We just love this place.
A. N.
Delicious food, this classic restaurant always delivers. Well spaced out due to covid restrictions and excellent service, highly recommend.
H. C.
Absolutely amazing experience, was a set menu and everything we had was amazing and great value
Will certainly return to try more on the menu!
F. L.
The eggplant dish is amazing, the dumplings are very interesting and delicious, the lamb curry is delicious, and the grilled meats are also very good. Oh, and the kabuli pilau rice is fantastic. In short, everything is very good and very delicious. Definitely one of my best meals in Adelaide and a must-try.
D. Y.
Excellent atmosphere, fab service and hospitality, with wonderful food
M. 1.
It was a great experience. The food and service were outstanding!!!
S. D.
The food here has always been great. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Definitely worth stopping in for a meal
S. M.
Really nice food in family style Afgan restaurant. Buon licence so remember to bring your own wine. Nice pre show dinner before going to the Thebarton theatre
S. M.
Delicious Afghan cusine, fast and nice service, great for sharing with friends/family, good for large or small groups, interesting and tasty range of drinks and desserts. Highly recommend!!
A. K.
A delightful mix of North African and Middle-Eastern flavors, in a cute and cozy setting. You can tell the food is prepared with care and love, and is some of the best eats currently available in Adelaide.
P. O.
Food is tasty but the wait can be long. We waited 23 minutes from the time we ordered. Should have more waiters on casual basis for busy times.
R. K.
The food is delicious and excellent value. The mantu and ashak (dumplings) are fantastic.
G. G.
Authentic.Fresh and tasty.. Great service. House made desserts are superb.
E. B.

S. L.
Met all my expectations of being an authentic delicious Afghan meal. Reasonable prices and BYO, and the young staff were great.
M. T.
Absolutely delicious Afghan food. The mantu dumplings were perfectly steamed and the banjaan borani (eggplant in tomato sauce ) was delicious. Even though it was a Tuesday night the place was full.
C. D.
Great food.. Nice people... Don't no how they keep it up so busy... Can't wait to go again ♥
a. h.
Food and service were great - pity they are reluctant to 'split the bill' we were a large group with credit cards - hard to pay individually when we are discouraged from using cash during this Covid situation
A. R.
What a great bunch of flavours. Rustic, homestyled, alternative, we are spoiled for choice on Henley Beach Rd now, so it's a good sign when a place is busy a long time after it is opened. If you are looking for something that can revive and awaken sleepy tastebuds, you've found it. The Palaw and Goscht ( sp? ) is amazing, and so different to standard fare, but similar enough not to be confronting for those less adventurous. Great fun checking out alternative cuisines, and this is becoming a bit of a fave.
M.
When you walk in the door the smell really hits you absolutely beautiful smell. Lovely Custermer service greeted at the door. Awesome prices for Massive Plates 10/10 would recommend
R. H.
Can't say enough good things about this little place. First time trying Afghan food, won't be the last. You can consider this your motto too after coming here!
Entree:
Pekowrah - Amazing fritters similar to Indian pakoras but with altogether different spices and flavours...served with their signature chutney. 5 Stars
Mains:
Narenj Palaw: An amazing long grain rice accompaniment with candied orange peel, almonds and pistacchios. 5 stars
Gosfandeh Degee: A beautiful marinated lamb dish served with salad, their version of naan bread, and again their signature chutney. 4.5 Stars (a couple of the lamb pieces (maybe 10%) were a bit dry but still tender and flavoursome)
Dessert:
As if we weren't already super-impressed with our entree and mains, our chosen dessert - Seb Morabah - was just to die for. I cannot recommend this enough just purely for you to experience such a wonderful combination of new flavours. It's candied apple preserve and Cardamom and Pistacchio Ice-cream....We chose to share one dessert....I tell you..that was a mistake...By the end I wanted my own, as did my better half. 5 stars.
Service: Fantastic. 5 stars
Decor: Simple yet colourful, Seemingly cultural, Homely (Family photos), Welcoming. 5 stars.
W. M.
Amazing atmosphere, good service and food is fabulous. I love that they serve good quality teas! The bathroom area is disgustingly dirty with spider webs.
C. P.
Fantastic food, wonderful atmosphere and great staff . . . Can highly recommend
M. (.
Was here as part of group booking - some confusion as to where we should be sitting initially-once that was sorted, we enjoyed a fine selection of foods. Bring your own wine.
D. N.
had work dinner here. beautiful food anyone who is looking to try restaurants in SA must give this ago.
J. W.
Best food, best price, lovely family. Grav the cookbook while you're there.
T. P.
Food and service was excellent but very limited menu. The price was surprisingly cheap comparing to the quality of the food and service.
M. B.
Excellent. We had the banquet and the quality and freshness of the food was great. Very popular.
R. H.
The food is pretty nice and the interior is old world modern Afghanistan!
Unfortunately there was confusion with 'splitting the bill' between 12 people - this is NOT 'separate accounts! ' SEPARATE ACCOUNTS are when people paid for what they ate/drank. Splitting the bill is dividing the total between the 12 of us!
S. L.
Just received my copy!!
Fabulous food as always. Keep on Pawanas staff. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
T. A.
I tried most of the foods here, without any doubt, all of them are great.

Deliciousness coupled with authenticity - this is one of the more experiential places to lunch in South Australia. Though, it made me feel like I was eating at home!
