The food I ordered was very good, points to the chef as we arrived slightly later than our reservation time. The waitresses were kind and polite, directed us and assisted us with our order. However this bald guy at the entrance and checkout was extremely rude to us, talking behind our backs, he was also very rude to his staff as we were checking out he told them to shut up in front of us. Not a way anyone should be treated. Shame that such great view and food is not fully enjoyed because of one person actions and rude personality.

Saturday night at the River Cafe. Very exciting. But this time it really seemed to be lacking something. Music? Not sure. But it wasn't the same. The service was extremely poor. You usually get, highly skilled waiting staff. I guess they were at home having a long weekend rest. So it's a 2/10 for service. You are usually made to feel special, not to be . Ok..... so onto the food. Excellent food thankfully. At least the chef was awake. The tapas idea I wasn't sure on, but it was very nice and well priced at $12 per person. Main course excellent. Dessert not many options and really to be honest., not fantastic. Would I go again??. Maybe not in a hurry. They really need to pick up their game. Otherwise it's another fabulous restaurant finished. Also where are the table clothes???. Not on every table and should be. Poor presentation!! Management needs to do some work. I guess that's it.

Limited menu but superb position built out over the river. The food is excellent quality and beautifully presented although the plates were not heated on the evening we dined there. It is very easy to give this restaurant a 5 star review. We asked for a quiet table and they happily obliged. The food was excellent, some innovative ideas which enhanced the experience. The food was very well presented, made the visual experience a pleasure. The quality was excellent in fact pefect, the quantities generous. A truly nice pleasant experience. Everyone on the table was impressed. The waiting staff were attentive, professional and very pleasant. They made the night. It was nice to meet the manager who was always making sure people were enjoying themselves and being attended to. Thank you for an excellent night.

The food is amazing and well worth a visit. Great views as well and good parking. They did struggle with our order though, I tried to order a raspberry drink and they didn't know what it was. Didn't understand no sauce on the main and by desert we had decided not to ask questions about the ingredients in the meal as the waitress didn't know the menu with the other courses. Mixed grill is fantastic although the sausage is spicy. I recommend this with tapas for entrees.

I had lunch there, so can not review the wine list. The meals were very good. The view from the restaurant over the Lake is also superb. The service was good without being hurried or obtrusive. The menu was not extensive, but this was lunch after all.

The one-page menu has variety of choices and nicely done. We ordered arancini for the appetiser which tasted good, crispy and fresh but definitely needed more seasoning and sauce to taste better. The main dishes were filet steak cooked medium rare and the sous vide pork filet. The main dishes were very nicely cooked and balanced specially the elements as the sides. They were perfectly in harmony with the protein and complimenting the dish. The salad was ok and refreshing as well. Surely a must visit place.

For reference we booked through a 50% food discount. Lovely food, female wait staff were allprofessional and welcoming, really lovely. Food was great, ordered the arancini, zucchini flowers, marinara and fish of the day. The zucchini was stuffed with a beautiful mixture, though the white sauce on the base of the plate was bland and lacking in flavour or garlic. The arancini were enjoyed by hubby, as was the marinara. Super fresh seafood, cooked well and so much flavour. I rarely order pasta in a restaurant but was really impressed by this one. My fish of the day was served with a beautiful salad of parsley, zucchini and rocket and was amazing, as was the perfectly cooked grilled salmon and the fennel sauce, served with it. Good wine selection by the glass, let down by drinks tho. Ordered a vodka lime and bitters and ended up with a drink with no bitters. All in all, a nice setting for a lovely meal. Good variety of vegetarian and pescatarian options too.

No Parmesan cheese on offer, nor bread to mop up sauce. Tap water tasted salty. For the price you pay, better going somewhere else. Place run down and reaked a musty smell. In desperate need of a renovation. Toilet locks don’t entirely lock properly, old decor making it feel not very clean.

Beautiful food, great new refined menu. The Covid rules are all being respected without restricting the quality of the service. Im not a photographer, but i took some photos anyway, only $50 for two courses, $60 for three. Great work to the staff as well, very well prepared to adjust with the covid laws.

We were going to the ballet, Anna Karenina, at the Festival Theatre, so we had time limits. River Cafe was superb in taking care of our needs, and making sure our meal was served early for us to get to the ballet on time. The staff, the Dining Room Manager, the kitchen, all were amazing in their attention to us. The food was incredible, some of the best dishes I have had in recent times. My complements to the Chef and kitchen staff. The Front of House staff were genuinely friendly, courteous and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, everything was efficiently and smoothly done. We enjoyed our experience at River Cafe and it was perfect for our pre-show meal. Parking was easy, and plentiful. The venue is beautiful, the pricees are reasonable for quality menu and the amosphere is elegant but relaxed. We will be returning for more delicious food! The waiting staff were lovely. The menu had Tapas listed, but apparently you can only order if the entire table orders it. I can't fathom the difference between cooking 4 or 8...... The manager told us we must order a main course; we couldn't even order a selection of sides. Menu doesn't state either of these "rules". My meal was OK, but it was over priced and it wasn't the best risotto I have ever eaten. The choices for vegetarian or people with dietary requirements were slim.

Incredible in summer with the whole doors open. We went on a perfect night and it was bliss! Very little vegan options though (they might have a seperate menu, I’m uncertain). Food was delicious but be prepared to pay for the experience. Only negative was the few friendly flies that kept flying around our meal because of the open windows. We took some friends from Sydney here a couple of weeks ago. We knew they wee serious about food and wine so it had to be good! We all thought it excellent - exceeded expectations in fact. Great location, very good food from imaginative menu. The wine was on the pricey side, as it invariably is at such places. At least it was a fine resiling from the Clare, not just overpriced OK stuff. Service was good, but got a bit rushed towards the end of the evening when the restaurant filled up. All in all a restaurant we would revisit for special occasions and taking interstate or overseas visitors, who want something out of the top drawer.

Three of us went to The River cafe to celebrate a milestone anniversary. As requested, we were placed with a great view of the Torrens Lake and the city. I must add, that the River Cafe has been our 'go to' restaurant for celebrating family anniversaries and entertaining visiting guests, both inter-state and international. So, over the past 5 years we have probably dined there 15 or 20 times. Sadly, last night's visit will probably be our last because of a mediocre, expensive experience. It was very noisy, precluding interesting conversations; the dishes were average at best and the service, though efficient seemed a bit brusque. When I arrived, I noted that the lamb targine was back on the menu and, based on very fond memories, I ordered it. The reality, when it arrived (sans targine), though quite flavourful, was a heavy chew through some tough chunks of goat meat with scattered carrots and good sauce. My companions (crab pasta and gnocchi with sugo) were equally underwhelmed by their dishes. We agreed that we could have done better out of the river bank with fresh baguettes, a salmon salad and a bottle of wine (total cost about $60 instead of the $200+).

I went to the River Café with a girlfriend. Thought it looked a bit pricey compared to our usual café catch up but as we used the discount from the Entertainment book we justified the expense. Both settling on the same mains; Chicken Breast — filled with mascarpone & marsala figs, red rice & almond pilaf, pancetta & a tarragon sauce. What a fantastic dish. Beautiful to look at, sorry I didn’t take a pic but I couldn't wait to dig in! Each of the elements could’ve been enjoyed alone as a side plate but together they combined, creating a very generous and delicious feast Usually I wouldn't indulge in desert for lunch but just had to sample the Chocolate Nemesis — A chocolate cake served with salted white chocolate caramel & raspberry ice cream. So very glad I did. An opulent delight which we shared, for the sake our waistlines. Friendly staff, and a lovely view over the River Torrens, with sunshine streaming in through the expansive windows. I will certainly return soon. Well Done!
