Loved vibe, coffee and people. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. Everything they do - they do with the smile. The menu looks really good and inviting. I loved the variety of hot drinks. House made matcha sounds pretty good to me. Coffee was nice and smooth to taste. The guys use local fresh ingredients for their simple but unique menu. Excited for coming back to try more 💫🌷

Had some time to venture out today… Decided to pop into The Banksia Tree Cafe for some brunch ☺️ Service started out a bit unwelcoming at first, but it smoothed out during the duration of our visit and we left full and happy! __________________________________ EDIT - Response to owner’s comment We appreciate you being able to eventually accomodate us however… I did try to call and make a booking today and was specifically told that you didn’t take bookings only walk-ins (it wasn’t clarified till later when we got there that you don’t take on-the-day bookings). When I called at 10:30, I asked if there would be any tables at 12. The reply I received was “yeah we are busy now, it should be good by then”. It wasn’t good when we got there at 12 (understandably this is out of your control, but the events that follow were not). The waitress left us outside in the rain with a toddler as she proceeded to promptly move 2 other tables inside (and we were certain that we were there before 1 of them). To top it off, the waitress didn’t offer us a table inside, we had to ask! Even then, she said, "oh if I can’t get you a table, inside, do you want takeaway instead" dismissively. Hope you treat the next customer a bit more kindly.

Quite literally the best tasting breakfast I've ever eaten at a cafe! I had the bacon and poached eggs with added kransky and ommmggg this was the perfect blend of smokey fresh flavours. The dirty chai was amazing too. Brilliant taste and presentation. Will definitely be back again.

The owner was lovely and accommodating and the food was divine. Unfortunately there was some miscommunication with wait staff not knowing the difference between vegetarian and vegan, and a few mishaps from that miscommunication, but all was sorted professionally and swiftly. My partner had lamb shanks that literally slid off the bone and melted in his mouth. The pomegranate molasses was insanely tasty and complimented the pumpkin perfectly. I highly recommend having your next meal, whatever that may be, here at Banksia Tree Cafe.

Fantastic food. Arguably the best scrambled eggs I've had in SA.. Great coffee, great vibe but above all that I have to commend our waitress Harper on her service and professionalism. Good hospitality is a dying art and having worked in the industry for 8 years I really appreciate amazing staff. The Banksia Tree have clearly taken the time to employ really excellent staff and it lifts an already good experience to a truly memorable one. Would absolutely come back.

Firstly, the Banksia Tree Cafe is really lovely to walk into. Local produce on display, gorgeous plants, well spaced out. The food is just as beautifully presented and tastes amazing! Their monastery coffee is sooo good as is their chai tea. The staff are super friendly and attentive as well. I really love it as a brunch place to go.

We visit the Banksia Tree fairly often, sometimes just for the best oat milk hot chocolates in town. The food is delicious, especially the hash browns and burgers. The staff are friendly and when we are sitting outside with our pup they always bring her a bowl of water. They have a dog menu, which we will try soon.

Absolutely wonderful spot with a menu that supports sustainability, health local sourcing of ingredients. According to their ethos statement, they make their food with 95% South Australian ingredients, which is amazing as this means that they use a lot of seasonal produce and the ingredients they source don’t need to travel far. Really lovely staff as well. Finally, if you’re after vegan options, they’ve got your back, too. All in all, an amazing experience 😍😍

Unique cafe, I love how they used a lot of native edible plants in their dishes. Wanted to try everything on the menu, everything looks interesting. One of those coffee shops you look forward to walking through the door of, the lovely hint of wood fire burning away, scrumptious breakfast meals sizzling away... The taste of their coffee is fantastic and their macadamia muffins on the counter are a must try. They have a loyalty card for those that like those perks. The place has plenty of seating and they have created the atmosphere as though you have walked into a premium country homestead! The friendly staff matches the country feel of the cafe also. Will definitely be back to try more of their food and beverages.

At the forefront of the new wave of Port restaurants, the Banksia Tree was a nice experience for the four people in our group. We went on Friday night where a seafood menu was offered and found all the dishes were pretty darn good. Service was efficient and friendly and the food came in good time from the small, open kitchen. Prices are reasonable and this could prove to be a new favourite.

Today to Banksia Tree Cafe and Restaurant for a Father’s Day lunch treat, care of my son. Despite being fully booked early in day, Daisy a very helpful member of staff reserved an outdoor table for myself and son. As a bit cool outdoors we were then invited to dine in when a table became available. Really appreciated this courtesy and attitude. Both found the meals to be outstanding and cooked to perfection - the burger and New York pastrami sandwich were delectable- as were salad, and sweet potato fries too. Inside dining has a relaxed atmosphere and nice mood- a welcome ambiance. Would highly recommend Banksia to all as a Port Adelaide treasure well worth visiting.

Really frustrating experience. I placed my order with the waitress for bacon and eggs (served with toast) and waited for my order. After 15 minutes, another waitress came up and asked if I would actually like to order. I advised I had ordered already and was still waiting for my food. Took close to another 10 minutes for my order to arrive. When my order did finally arrive, the bacon was burnt (I did ask for crispy bacon but this was just burnt) and also no butter was provided so I went to the counter to ask for some. This butter took another 5 minutes to arrive, so the toast was getting cold. When the butter did arrive it had clearly just come out of the fridge so was not spreadable and as the toast had cooled down, I couldn't use the heat from the toast to soften the butter. For $18 to small rashers of bacon (which did not taste pleasant), 2 fried eggs and a slice of toast, this was really overpriced and beyond disappointing. Chose this place based on the google reviews but I unfortunately didn't seem to get the same experience everyone else listed on the other reviews. Felt completely ripped off. Note: Amended review to three stars as Fabian (the owner) contacted me with a kind reply and sincere apology for my experience whilst making a fair gesture to rectify the situation. Would be prepared to try again when visiting.

Open plan indoor setting with the little kitchen on full view. Staff were all working hard except the large number of waitresses who needed more to do. The food was very creative but the main part of the dish (eggplant) was under grilled due to being very thickly cut and definitely effected the overall experience. Love this cafe. I've been there a few times now and always leave with something in mind that I want to try next visit. The atmosphere relaxed even when busy. A cosy little joint, without feeling crowded. The regular menu is great but I really like that they keep things fresh with daily specials and events. I've tried a couple of breakfast options and a 2 burgers which have all been delicious. I'll be back again soon.

The BEST place for food and coffee in Port Adelaide. You always find the best place on your last day of holidays and we wish we never went anywhere else. Great atmosphere, fresh tasty food, friendly staff, you'll never want to leave. We stayed for a few hours! Definitely make this your first place to go.

Visited this cafe on Sunday last for brunch/lunch with my girls and left wanting to visit again as soon as we can. If fact, as I write this review I believe my daughter is there having lunch again within a week of our last visit. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with friendly smiles and service and the awesome aroma of wood smoking away over different cuts of meat. It’s not an overpowering smell and you don’t reak of smoke when you leave or anything like that. I found it a tad odd eating there because as a kid i remember this as my local chemist - must just confirm I’m getting old! The layout is nice and you don’t notice passing traffic - the menu is good and the food was seriously good. I ate the banksia cafe burger and its one of the best burgers I’ve had in years and I eat plenty of burgers. Similarly my daughter loved her breakfast burger on potato bun and all three of us loved the sweet potato fries - which in most cafes are very hard to make crispy and delicious but they were both. The fresh apple juice was also really nice - I think mainly if not all granny Smith’s and that tartness was a nice contrast to decadent burgers. All up this place was great and I think it may become a regular cafe to visit for me and my family. Received a genuine thank you and goodbye as we left which was also a nice touch. It’s often little details like that which can make the difference for a customers experience l.

Food was great but they need another Eftpos machine. On a extremely busy morning, staff allowed a table of 10 to split a bill and individually pay, paying for only what they ordered. With only one Eftpos machine it held up the line. Otherwise staff were lovely a few things forgotten which was understandable on a busy day, but once ordered food did come out quickly. Would go back but on a quieter day. Definitely having another Eftpos machine would help on busier days.

I was there today. The place was busy & staff are lovely. Warm & welcoming little spot here in the Port. Nice ambiance & great musuc. I had a soy chai & a vegan pumpkin/chickpea bowl. The food was tasty no doubt. My piece of pumpkin was nicely charred & had a lovely smokey taste to it. But there was hardly any food. The bowl was quiet small. Less than 15cm in diameter & about 4cm high bowl. Food was very frugal and I left hungery. Lots of bells & whistles for a wedge of pumpkin, two eggs & handfull of nuts/seeds & few leaves of green leaves. Would I go there again. I don't think so. For a $20 dish you would think, you probably get at least two scoops of chickpea mix with nuts & seeds. Being my first time here I was looking forward to a fulfulling experience because of the reviews but left with disappointment.

I've been on the road for work for the past week and craving a decent sit-down meal. I stumbled across this place upon searching on Google, walking through the front door I felt right at home straight away and the friendly staff took me and my colleague to a table. I ordered the Banksia Burger, and my colleague the New-Yorker Sandwhich. The serving sizes were generous and the flavours were amazing. It was like mum's cooking, on steroids, completely jacked.
