Comments of The Bridgewater Mill

We recently had lunch at Bridgewater Mill for my youngest son’s birthday. My other son has multiple severe allergies and the Chefs were fantastic at adapting his meals where necessary to suit his requirements. We had the feed me menu and honestly had so much food we couldn’t eat it all (I haven’t included photos of all dishes as I was too excited to eat and forgot to take a couple). The food was just delicious and the venue is stunning. We sat outside on a lovely autumn day and took In the stunning scenery. The service was fantastic and we couldn’t fault the wait staff. Definitely recommend!

Wonderful experience. My taste buds were dancing as there were celebrating the new taste and combination of flavours that I have not thought of. Loved it!

This is an absolutely wonderful restaurant in the Old mill building, service is fantastic and the food is spectacular. Highly recommended
W. N.
Great place for meals with impressive internal and external ambience. Service was excellent and staff were accommodating with a high chair. Would go again the next time we’re in Mt Barker!

We had a fantastic Sunday celebrating a friend’s birthday over lunch. When we were first seated, the owner came over to greet us and pass on his best regards. The service was attentive and friendly with great recommendations for food and accompanying wine. Lovely lunch in a warm and cosy sunroom attached to the main building

We have been to The Mill quite a bit but none of our visits was as good as the last one: OUR WEDDING!!
We are absolutely delighted with how the whole day went.
Jo & Duncan were just amazing to have nearby for any questions or concerns (or if you needed a glass of bubbles) and the food was wonderful.
All of our guests raved about the beautiful venue, food, drinks and atmosphere.
We will be regulars, I'm sure, for years to come!
K.
The ultimate Adelaide Hills restaurant experience! A beautiful heritage venue with great ambience and attention to detail.
Outstanding rustic food, presentation and service. The chef bringing out our food was also a lovely touch.

Amazing restaurant! Beautiful location for lunch out on the deck. The food is stunning and service is perfect.

Whats a beautiful spot. The water wheel is stunning.
We had some drinks outside and it was soo relaxing and beautiful. The staff were suoer friendly.
We had a a nose around and the venue is stunning, would make a extraordinary wedding venue.

We did the 4 course Chef Selection. The food was very tasty and well presented. To be honest, presentation was better than the taste, but the uniqueness of flavours made up for it. Overall, very filling and happy.
Also recommend the 98 Degrees sunrise gin (distilled in Adelaide), and have a wander around the surroundings before hand.
P. G.
A great place well situated a short drive from the city. We only stopped in for a coffee and an ice cream sundae for our kids, but it was exceptionally pleasant sitting outside under the vines by the banks of the creek. The staff were friendly and helpful. Top notch!

Me and my husband went to celebrate my birthday with a lovely Sunday lunch at The Bridgewater Mill. The place is beautiful and the food is absolutely delicious!! We will return for sure.
K. E.
Such a wonderful experience, the food is stunning and the staff are wonderful. Great day
G. E.
Brilliant deck setting under shade umbrellas. Service just OK, food slow but stylish as you would expect. A little on the pricey side. Value for money questionable.
F. E. A.
The food experience was one of the best we had in the Adelaide Hills region, the only downfall was we finished our food so fast and we needed more!!
Overall the customer service, ambiance and food were amazing and we will definitely be coming back!
R. W.
Beautiful historic mill laid out with 3 levels of fine dining and first class service. The pork belly was exquisite and the fruit sorbet interestingly refreshing. Great place to dine for something special.
m. c.
I was attracted by the friendliness of the staff when I first stepped into the restaurant. The decoration of the place is unique and cosy. It is a wonderful place to dine and its suitable for family and friends and in any occasions. There are plenty of tables inside and outside the restaurant. Love the indoor ambience as well as the outdoor setting. Food is awesome! Love the pork belly, the duck tori as well as the kimchi salad. Met with the Chief Eating Officer (CEO), Greg Hobby, no words can describe how hospitality he is with his guests. Definitely return with friends and highly recommend this place.
E.
My partner came in on a Sunday and the drinks and food were delightful. We were served by Joe and Duncan who really brought the experience together. Wonderful staff 🙏🏽
M. H.
Amazing friendly service.
The opening hours is a bit bad, feels like they are always closed.
The place is nice overall. Outdoor area was amazing.
J. M.
We celebrated our friend’s Em’s birthday party here and had the most amazing experience. We were hosted by the fantastic Audrey and even welcomed by the owner of the business Greg. We are so grateful for our wonderful experience and highly recommend you try this experience for yourself. From the beautiful table settings to the soothing background sounds of the water-mill.
You’ll be impressed!

This place is now my fav in the hills. Each and every fppd item was up to the mark. The staff were too polite and warm. The ambience of this place is good for any meal. Although we had our lunch here and will be definitely back for dinner.
S. H.
Gorgeous outdoor deck beside an historic, working waterwheel in a shady hills setting. We chose to go with Chef's selection but would probably choose our own dishes next time. Ceviche fish and the roast pumpkin starters were both delicious; the pork belly mains on harissa was ok, but not melt in the mouth, and paired the char-grilled broccolini also with chilli was really an overkill; whipped vanilla cheesecake proved the winner dessert over the plum frangipane and the peaches and pistachio 'golden gaytime'.
A. P.
Lovely venue and attentive service. Some of the dishes were a little confused flavour-wise, with copious sauces overpowering the delicate fresh produce.
R. H.
High quality food. The serving where huge. Wonderful interior. A joy to dine there.
A. W.
Beautiful historic pub in a lovely location. The grounds outside are beautiful. Food is good and well priced.
L. w.
We chose the chef's selection, everything is good, the dishes are delicious, and the service is attentive. Only the serving time was too long. It took a total of two and a half hours from entering the restaurant to leaving. Sitting on the wooden chair, my butt was very sad.
K. P.
I enjoyed my 32nd birthday celebration at the Bridgewater Mill.
Having previously noticed the stunning surroundings, I was eager to dine in at this location and have the full experience.
The old stone venue was kept warm with fires and heating throughout, there is even a small fire pit outside the building which makes the short walk from the carpark to the building comfortable.
The live band also adds to the experience, but in a way that is peaceful and not interfering.
The food and cocktails were exceptional, perhaps the best we have had.
Above all, however, is the extremely warm and personal hospitality we received from the owner. Greg, thank you for making my birthday so special. My partner and I can’t wait to come back.
N. C.
Just dandy! Very friendly staff, lovely setting and menus. Starting on the deck outside with mill turning was almost hypnotic.
J. V. S.
Great food. Also prior excellent outside area with entertainment.
N. C.
Outstanding! A bit of a locals secret. This time we were on the outdoor balconies on a Friday afternoon. Lovely location, trees, birds, the turning mill with running water, overall a beautiful atmosphere. The food was lovely. Trendy, fresh, tasty menu. A little bit slow but it was busy as we arrived. The adjacent playground kept the kids at bay for a while. The staff were excellent. Very friendly, happy, smiling and attentive. Just a nice way to end the week.
R.
Amazing atmosphere and food. Ambient setting with live music performance. Everything on the menu seems to be quite tasty. Would 100% recommend the octopus with orange, the pork belly, the lobster brioche and the beef entrée (forgot it's name)
T. S.
The food looked and tasted good. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Not much else to ask for. It was quite pricey but well earned all the same.
Z. X.
Being there last night with my husband for my birthday. The food was good, the owner was very nice and friendly, however when I booked online I put a recommend that it’s my birthday, and asked to write a HBD on the dessert plate which I got nothing, and when we arrived, it was quiet, I asked the staff who led us to the table: could we sit next to the window where no one occupied that table, I was told that table being reserved, however for the whole time we had our diner from 6-8pm, 2hrs no one came and sit to that table, I had no idea why we cannot sit there.
W. “.
Fabulous setting, great service and beautiful food. What can go wrong !!
E.
Excellent venue for a wedding reception, staff were highly attentive and extremely kind, and the food was amazing. You can rest assured that if you host a venue there you will be well looked after and your guests will love it. Congratulations to the team for all their hard work
m. l.
really in the desserts they should work more on them. in others very well presented and good flavor.

My partner and I decided on a whim to dine in at the mill on a cold saturday evening. We were walkins and to our surprise the hostess was more than accomadating even to the extent of juggling seating so we were close to the log fire. The waiters were polite, knowledgeable, courteous and proffesional which I didnt expecect as they were young and Im not saying all young people are less than customer service orientatined but my experience has not been favourable in the past. Meals were reasonably priced and I have to say delicious and somewhat different. After our meal we decided to go into the main section to have a cappacino where we were greeted by the business owner who was so friendly and cheerful, hospitipal which is what hospitality is suppose to be I thought. He then then engaged in a bit of a conversation and promptly informed us that the coffee is on the house and pointed toward the port barrell on the bar which was a help yourself set up and knock ourselves out with coffee. I might just add the coffee was what ever we wanted made by staff and the port was quality. Im guessing Gallway Pipe. Great meal. Great venue. Great staff. Great experience. Totally recommend. We,ll definately be back. Makes the keg and barrell at noarlunga and the audacity to open up a second "eatery" at aldinga look like kindergarten compared to grown ups. Keep up the great work guys
K. G.
Food was delicious, and I love their focus on local goods and produce.
Definitely recommend 👍
L. P.
Everything about this place was 11/10. Staff were so lovely, friendly and professional. The mill itself is stunningly beautiful. The food was incredible and so delicious. Just amazing!
M. P.
It was an awesome place, good food and a park available for kids...!
C. B.
Good but big meal.was expected something more defined
J. v.
Wow wow wow... the food was 10/10 , Service was 11/10 and decor 10/10 ..
my mouth is still watering from the food from last night... we had such a lovely evening! We were really early before it even opens and it was no problem ! The ladies that worked there were super nice. The fire was on.. and it was just perfect.
My new favourite place that’s for sure..
And the wine... perfect.... they even are able to do kids type of meal if your little one is a little fussy! We loved it and will be back regularly for sure. 💕
C. A.
Needs a fan or air-conditioning for hot days like these. Was very stuffy. I haven't eaten there and to be honest it's a bit overpriced but gave it 4 stars out of 5 for the beautiful venue, the friendly customer service from the staff, the great choice of Sunday afternoon live music (Kathy Pike Music) and the use of fairy lights in the dining area that gave the place a very cosy feeling.
J. J.
Was here for a function. This historic location is a very nice place for meals and drinks.
A. K.
Absolutely gorgeous atmosphere with food that more than matches it. Service was spot on and they were passionate about the food they serve. We wish we'd known about it sooner.
B. H.
A stunning experience in a stunning venue. The food was beautiful, the service was impeccable and the venue was a visual masterpiece. It was gorgeous, rustic, heritage, magical and the finer details were well thought out and executed with perfection.
I couldn't recommend this establishment more and I'll definitely be back again and again.
L. K. L.
Absolutely delicious food, lovely service looking forward to going back soon. Thanks for a memorable evening.
L. R.
Lovely space, the original mill has been well maintained and the modern additions compliment the space. We had chose the feed me option with the chefs selection and wine, it was wonderful meal. It is worth seeing if the cottage next door is available to stay in as well.
D. S.
Would give them 100 stars and will return time and time again. From the moment we walked in they made hubby and I feel welcome and showed excellent customer service etiquette. Even got to meet the owner who kindly shouted us dessert, thanked us immensely for being here and even threw in a bottle of wine for home. Can't wait to return for accommodation in the b&b. You will see us again. Thank you so much Bridgewater Mill ♥️😍
A. P.
Great food and service. So cosy and comfortable surroundings. See you again Greg! Thanks for taking great care of us! 🤗

My girlfriend and I went for our anniversary, it's hard to say what the best part of the night was from the beautiful atmosphere to the selection of wine. On thing that is for sure if your a fan of your food you will be amazed. Our 4 course dinner came with a selection of 7 different dishes each more spectacular than the last. If your a fan of beef I can garentee the best Brisket you've ever eaten. Absolutely amazing.
L. G.
The place is very nice & food really good. I have lots of things I can not eat & they went out of there way so that I had something. The out side was rather cold for a wedding but great once we were allowed in.
S. L.
I had my two of my great friends engagement parties here.
The food was delicious and the staff were so warm and friendly. I could see it being an amazing place for a wedding. The owners even came and thanked us all when we left. Such an awesome place. Highly recommend.
P. R.
We went for a Sunday lunch. We were very happy with the food. The seafood platter was delicious and we couldn't have enough of the dessert platter! The service was warm and welcoming, probably the best in Adelaide. Thank you for the best celebratory lunch. I'm definitely visiting you again!
S. P.
Love this venue! We recently held our wedding here and the staff really went above and beyond to make our day perfect. The food was also all amazing! Such a beautiful location and building too :) Highly recommend.
L. B.
Lovely deck to have a function on, if the weather allows, which it did for the Xmas function I attended. Finger food seemed well received by all. Adequate parking. Excellent venue for any type of reason to celebrate, or just have an intimate meal with your partner or some friends. I'd go again ;-)
A. T.
Great venue for engagement party. The venue has many sections. Which means a couple of small functions.
Otherwise one very large party.
I believe it would be wonderful for a Wedding Affair.
It is a very popular location.
m. p.
A bit of a confusing start walking in to a deserted main dining area to find our way to the smaller dining room further along. The four mains were hit and miss! Nice flavours with the pork belly but found the beef cheek sinuous and chewy, not melt in your mouth delicious. The roaring fire was a smouldering ember giving little warmth to the cold room. The waitress was cheerful and friendly as a positive. As a group we were underwhelmed for what we expected.
A. F.
Thankyou Ben for accommodating my fodmap and food sensitivity needs. I feel like everyone else at the table, not the odd one out, which is so nice. The food was lovely. Dessert was fab! Thankyou for the effort!
j. G.
Fine dining outside in a perfect setting. Highly recommended
L. P.
Great staff and atmosphere. I've been to a wedding and other events here. The food I've had has been great!
T. P.
It was a lunch on the deck under the blue sky on a Sunday. The environment was absolutely beautiful, so glad to see some people have the vision and effort to convert the old cottage and create this beautiful outdoor setting. Floor staff was brilliant, pleasant and cheerful. Food was great except the scallops were a little colder than expected and the overall price is a little dear ($20+ for entrée). Good wine list !
F. H.
Came here for a wedding and it was a stunning venue. The staff also deserve a thank you as they were also very polite, friendly and helpful during their service.
M. P.
Great friendly service.
Yummy food.

My husband booked us in for a dinner date at the Bridgewater Mill on Saturday for my birthday.
We were a little unsure as to what experience we would have based on other reviews being mixed.
However, we were absolutely delighted with the whole experience!
We discovered that new owners took over earlier in 2019 and they have certainly improved the dining experience.
Notably, the new under-floor heating works a treat and we were toasty warm while eating our dinner, as was everyone in the whole restaurant. There was a quaint combustion heater but there was no need to be seated near it as the whole room was very warm.
We were there a little early and so the Chef/Head Waiter and Owner were having their casual pre-service catch up in the lounge area when we arrived, however, they welcomed us warmly, seated us promptly and made us feel like we were VIP customers.
The head waiter and sommelier, Chris, was exceptionally well-versed in both the food and also the wines. There was no, 'I'm not sure, I'll just have to check with the kitchen', he knew all the qualities of each dish and wine as though he had experienced them all himself, (I think he must have tasted every dish which should be the case with every waiter in a good restaurant!).
We had the 'Chefs Feed Me' menu consisting of 4 courses.
Every dish was made with fresh, quality ingredients (no limp lettuce or over-dressed salad here!), the flavour combinations were perfectly balanced, as were the textures - I am sure even the judges on Masterchef would have given them a 10/10!
My favourites were the Starter of Sashimi Kingfish with Tom Yum sauce and peanut crumb, the Wagu Beef Brisket Main course with celeriac, kohlrabi, chill, pickled onion and these amazingly crunchy thin red crisps that I think were very thin wafers of fried beetroot. The main came with a side of 'salt and vinegar roast potatoes' which were truly awesome and a great idea.
We had a 'Chocolate pannacotta with rum and raisin sauce' for dessert and the chocolate pannacotta was a real treat - perfectly set and smooth and the chocolate version was an improvement on the original vanilla. The rum and raisin sauce as a little heavy on the rum in our view but I guess for some that would be a bonus!
Neither my husband or I could think of any other place we had dined which had the same dishes -it was very nice to have a different experience of food instead of the same old dishes most restaurants seem to do.
The owner, Greg, came and personally greeted us soon after we arrived and was a very warm and generous host - it is a rare privilege these days to get to meet the owner of a restaurant and Greg really made us feel like VIPs.
Bravo Greg, Chris, and the team at the Bridgewater Mill. We will certainly be back soon for an encore!

Food was outstanding, despite a mine field of dietary requirements over our 2 large tables of people (keto, vegetarian, gluten intolerance, etc) and the staff went over and above. Friendly, diligent, fun....can't criticise a thing
M. S.
The meal was delicious and staff friendly. Definitely will be going back there again and recommending to my friends already. Xx
B. P.
Great dining experience. All dishes were thoughtfully crafted. Wait staff were attentive without being pushy. Great ambiance and music. Also did the wine tasting and whilst all wines were of a good quality the only stand-out was the Petaluma Chardonnay 2009. Certainly somewhere we'd go back to.
4.5 stars

AMAZING!
I was lucky enough to have lunch at the Mill.
Food was 10/10! The service the presentation and setting well all faultless.
Without a doubt I will be going back again!
YUM YUM YUM!
Keep up the great work!

Delicious food
I could not fault both the service and quality of food. The restaurant is pretty cool, decorated beautifully, but can be quite cold. Definitely ask for recommendations on choices, to get the best choices.
s. h.
Amazing food, the best atmosphere with sensational decking. Very pleasant owners, highly recommend.
J. N.
A sensational experience, great atmosphere, genuinely friendly staff. Was celebrating my birthday with family, attention was second to none. The owner found out it was my birthday and gave a complimentary bottle of wine waooo, thanks Greg!!! Would recommend this place to anyone.
D. C.
A beautiful restaurant with a great selection of dishes and beverages. The mill has a working water wheel which is very interesting for kids and adults alike. We were warmly welcomed and looked after even with two kids! Could spend hours here eating, drinking and sitting in front of the open fireplace. Highly recommended.
S. B.
Amazing food, wow! This place should be booked out for months, but it’s easy to get a table. Get on it people. Great, friendly service made the perfect night.
s. S.
this place is absolutely amazing 🥰 a must go place if you are in bridgwater.... definitely will not disappoint. the service is out of this world and the food is to die for. made our night so much more special thank you so much guys will definitely be back. 👍🥰💯🥇

Very nice meal , staff are incredibly nice and helpful . Ambience was amazing on the mezzanine. Really accommodating with dietary requirements. Will be visiting again

Myself & 5 friends went to the Bridgewater Mill for lunch yesterday and must say we were thrilled with both the service and the food.
Such a perfect setting in the cosy cellar door environment for a long Sunday Lunch in a stunning historical building and our experience was highlighted by the friendly attitude of the staff and in particular Mick? and Olivia who went out of there way to look after us. We were very surprised to hear that it was Mick's first day at the 'Mill' and that he was on a trial shift - it needs to be said these two are a credit to your establishment and want to thank them and the rest of your team for making it a special Sunday Lunch experience.
N. W.
Good food and service. Starting to feel a bit dated.
H. J.
Lovely atmosphere, nice lunch with friends but expensive. Probably won't go back as it's outside our usual price limit.
B. H.
Fantastic service - every staff member was so kind and friendly. Beautiful venue and loved the food. Highly recommend!
I. B.
Love the food. Such a nice winters setting
K. R.
The garden is gorgeous, staff were lovely - the food is a bit fancy for my taste but perfect for taking my parents!
S. P.
Amazing place with excellent food service and atmosphere, even the owner came and genuinely thanked us for visiting and dining. Highly recommend and will be back again!
L. R.
Fantastic food, awesome atmosphere and great service. I can not fault anything. Loved this place. I highly recommend the tasting menu. Gives you a chance to taste some of the best food on the menu.
R. M.
Whilst the service and the decor were excellent, I found some of the food a little bland. I had the sweetbreads as an entree. The sauce in which they were presented was disappointingly flavourless. My main course was the duck which I also felt needed a smudge of tangy sauce to cut the richness of the meat. For dessert I chose the apricot custard and jelly...simple and absolutely delicious. Sadly though the shaved apple garnish was bland and turned brown within moments. I noticed the apple had been lightly sprinkled with icing (snow) sugar but I think sherbet would have been a better choice to give it some contrast. Overall though a very pleasant lunch experience. Thankyou. I will return.
G. H.
Awesome experience on our visit today for lunch. Chris and the team were very accommodating to our needs and put on a great feed for 22 people. Can't wait to visit again!
J. P.
Went to a wedding and reception there recently. Lovely place and setting. The staff were all friendly and helpful to a fault. The little coffee-house was a treat with cakes etc. as well. Its what the Adelaide Hills are good at... good hospitality.
C. D.
Dropped in for a Sunday lunch whilst in the hills. Awesome experience. Staff helpful and friendly. Food fantastic. I had the aged porterhouse with a Beachwood pale ale.
D. S.
Delicious food. Did wait a hour and a half. Considering it was after a winter closure wasn't to bad. Melissa was super lovely and helpful during our experience. Will definately back.
F. L.
Wonderful restored water mill. A must to view
S. C.
The historic Brigewater Flour Mill is opposite the hotel, on Mill Rd (off Bridgewater- Carey Gully Rd at Bridgewater. COX Ck runs between the Mill + the hotel and the railway line is on the top side. Today this mill is a restruant with fine dining washed down with a selection of Adelaide Hills, Mc Laren Vale or Barrossa Wines. An cafe next to the carpark serves pizzas and finger food and is popular with the locals on Friday and the weekends. If u want a different experience and the wintery moods of autum to spring come here.
F. R.
An incredible location, can’t wait to get back there. The kids loves the mill. They fell in the creek but had a blast 🤣
K.
This place is exquisite and full of charisma ❤️
B. J.
Great food, excellent service in an intimate environment.
M.
Beautiful atmosphere with a touch of Australian history. Food is outstanding, the chef has talent. I will be visiting again.
K. G.
Fantastic food, excellent value!
C. M.
Food very average and small amount given $90 per head. Only 1 drink included. No food choices. Service was good and reason I gave 3 stars. Would have been lower otherwise.
N. R.
The Bridgewater Mill is no longer owned by Petaluma and has a new wine list and menu. The Chefs are the same, so fabulous food. Great atmosphere, now open for dinner Friday & Saturday nights. The new Wine and Coffee lounge is a relaxed space with gastronomic share platters.
D. B.
We were greated by an amazingly friendly waitress that couldnt do enough for us. The food was amazing and so was the atmosphere. Highly recommended

Quiet lunch with family; heatwave outside, so we dined beside the fern bank. Good wine selection, the salmon and the beef cheeks were very good.
