Great Japanese food. All your favourites are here. The staff were excellent all night. We did the sake tasting which was excellent value and a great way to try some new things. Nice atmosphere.

OMG, delicious, scrumptious food. Great decor, great service, yumolicious food. Definitely coming back here. Couldn't believe it wasn't packed, so many people are missing out on great food. The stone grill beef was great, the sauces fantastic. My son loved his Katsu chicken too.

Toyama restaurant is a great casual dining experience in a convenient part of Adelaide CBD. I’ve been here a multitude of times and Toyama has always had exceptional service, quality food and wide selection. Pictured, is the wagyu beef and chashu ramen, both with a mild, creamy broth balanced perfectly with elements of both texture and flavour. In addition, the gyoza were juicy and served well with adequate crunch and vigor. Would also recommend trying the karaage chicken too, paired with their selection of Japanese beers. An excellent joint to catchup with friends and soak up the beautiful atmosphere.

Prompt service and food came out pretty quick. Was quiet for a Thursday lunch but to be expected in the current environment I suppose. Enjoyed my ramen and beer

Great service, loved the atmosphere and feel of the place. Traditional Japanese cuisine. The meal was delicious with many different means to choose from including banquets and an all you can eat option. Lots of different traditional Japanese beverages to accompany the meal. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic. Service excellent. The stone grill scotch fillet just melts in your mouth. Special fried rice full of vegetables & very tasty.
A restaurant you must go to.
Really love 💕 this place eat here at least 4 times a month.

I would highly recommend this Japanese restaurant. The decor, music and overal experience took me away into another world I wish I could be in.
The service was second to none and food words cannot comment how delicious and extraordinary it was.

Great family meal, pretty authentic recipes. Between 5 of us we shared 6 starters, 5 mains, and a shared veggie platter. All good, enough left over for 2 lunches. Highlights were the lotus chips, miso soup, veggie tempura, chicken yakitori and Salmon. Will be back

Fortunate to walk into this delicious restaurant on Rundle St. If you love interesting Japanese food and my favourite Agadashi Tofu this place is a winner. Curbside dining, friendly wait staff and great wine list. Definitely give it go!

Best Japanese restaurant in Adelaide for me. Food is consistently delicious and the staff are very pleasant.

Shabu shabu at @toyamajapanesecuisine. The food was reasonably good, in particular the wagyu beef. The broth was pretty good too. However, the service was very slow! Took ages for food to come out, which is odd because almost everything was raw... 😅😅😅. The staff were very nice, but they were running around and sometimes didn't seem to know what they were doing. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy either... 🤷🤷🤷.

Single best & most authentic Japanese restaurant I’ve been to in Australia, period. Highly recommend the Shabu Shabu.

Brand new, Japanese restaurant, excellent location, alfresco dining and beautifully designed with traditional Japanese influences in the art and decor, but keeping quite upmarket and trendy. Great variety in the menu, sashimi tasting platter was awesome, the Sake menu is definitely worth trying. The staff are wonderful. Friendly and efficient, I was welcomed with a smile and even though I arrived a little late in the evening without a booking the waitress was straight away willingly accommodating and was able to sit me in for dinner as the last customer. The seafood is excellent here for the style of casual dining and the prices are very reasonable, as a person who’s eaten in Japanese restaurants across the world from New York to Sydney this place really is a great little neighbourhood jaunt and being so new it’s only time until it has an army of loyal followers. There is so much evidence the owner has put in tremendous effort into getting this restaurant as perfect as possible to his vision, from the sake pottery display room at the front, to the scallops being served in a traditional way with the lip and half shell, to the traditional wooden trimmings of the shop front. It really is like stepping into a Japanese restaurant in Japan. The fact they are trying to recreate a traditional Japanese experience as well as being modern and trendy has really hit the pulse with what the area needed. Thanks for a beautiful evening! I will be back when I’m in Adelaide again. Domo Arigato

Good customer service, good range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage, food authentic and well executed. There was a mixed-up between the front and kitchen with rice being served after all the mains are served and entrees came out the same time as the mains.

Delicious fresh food! Wide range of foods and drinks. Toyama'ramen is soo gooood the soup was so favourful and so many seafood(abalone, scallop, lobster)in the ramen.
Akagai nigiri and salmon sashimi are my favourites.
Good service and great place
Will definitely recommend to my friends and families

I don’t know why there are negative reviews, but we have a very pleasant experience with great and authentic food and exceptional service. The food is fresh and ice creams are home made. Highly recommend this place!!!!
B. V.
Superb food and excellent service!
Currently they are offering an all-you-can eat shabu-shabu dinner buffet. There is a generous flow of quality wagyu beef, pork, lamb and assorted seafood, appetisers, sashimi, desserts and much more.
It’s high recommended and we will be back with other friends again. Thanks for the hospitality from the friendly staff 😊

I work and live in Japan, and visit here for family. We loved the foods, and their quality is authentic and much better than any Japanese restaurant in the city.

Friendly and attentive staff. The food was totally delicious and the beer nice and cold. Definitely recommend trying this place

Service is good but the food is average. They should step up and improve the taste and presentation, considering it’s on Rundle street with lots of competition.
S. K.
Really good experience here! Friendly staff, tasty dishes and reasonably priced and awesome selection of whisky. Will be back!
J. L.
Delicious shabu hot pot and excellent desserts. Such a perfect combination for Sunday night! The staff here is super friendly as well. We enjoy every visit

Very slow service, forgot drink orders and needed to ask three times. Poor value for money.

Really good food and great service.
Wagyu beef and ox tongue were really delicious.

Second time here and very happy, the food has been so good and the service even better. Wednesday night so a bit quiet but that's Adelaide. I would recommend as the food is better than you would think and the service is outstanding.

I've been waiting for the opportunity to have dinner here and finally got the chance when we stayed at a nearby hotel. Fantastic! The food is pretty authentic and the ambiance is really enjoyable. Loved their yakitori and sushi, and highly recommend the macha beer. I have yet to try their grill beef so I can't wait to go back.
A. M.

Excellent service with great valued of quality of food. The friendly staff provide a professional standard of serving skill such as cover her hand when refill water in front of us. It makes you comfortable with hygiene and caring. Love the interior design of Toyama! Oh yes, you must try Shabu Shabu Wagyu Set Menu.

Best hotpot I've ever tried in Adelaide.
A.
Quality Japanese. 5-7 grade wagyu tataki. Excellent tempura and very tasty gyoza. Early dinner. Service was genuinely friendly and prompt.
S. p.
I enjoyed the sushi, karaage, gyoza, and croquettes. The sushi platter was the highlight. Nice open space and modern setting. Note that on your bill, there is a service charge added and you are encouraged to choose that amount when paying. Feels American style.
F. B.
Great service, tasty food, recommended
J. S.
A must visit for fresh and flavorful Japanese and a great selection of sake. The pan fried pork gyoza were delicious and cooked perfectly (non greasy) and the chef's selection of sushi and sashimi was very good with kingfish, unagi (fresh water eel), and baby squid. Great service and friendly chef. P.S. we live in Melbourne and go to Japan often and we love all kinds and good Japanese food and WE RECOMMEND Toyama when in Adelaide CBD.

Great service!
Went to the shop mutiple times already
The waitress provide promptly service.
The food is high quality. Espeically the 79$ Wagyu barbeque set is a must try. Very good value for 2 people.
N. M.
Nice atmosphere but some of the food was quite expensive for serving size. I do not like many Japanese dishes but there were still some good options available.
L. J.
The atmosphere is awesome as, smells great and the food was very satisfying - the teriyaki salmon was as good as the photo looks
V. B.
Love this place. Visited on their opening night. Food very fresh and tasty and great service. Sake menu with full tasting notes is a great touch. Plan to take overseas visitors next week.

A bit of a hit and miss place. Overall quite nice with some great options but sometimes it feels like ingredients are not high enough quality or that is overpriced a bit.
