Very much loved the high tea session we had. The savoury delights were nice for a start and ended of with the exquisite cakes on a very sweet note. Tea selection is superb and coffee has a nice aroma. Ambience is very soothing and relaxed, allowing us to dine and soak in the luxurious environment. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed a high tea here, which included bottomless tea. The venue is nicely furnished and the food was mostly nice and tasty, in particular the desserts, which were delicately prepared. I found it a pretty well-priced high tea. I thought the venue itself was a tad dark inside. The savoury items were only ok - particularly the cucumber sandwich in which the cucumber was so finitely cut, you could barely see it, let alone taste it. Good variety of tea served.

Had a lovely catch up here for high tea. Service was great, the quality of the food presented was just average- really nothing special at all. Teas were very tasty. I have been to other places for high tea for a similar price and the quality of the food was much better. Fair enough, its a lovely place and the girls working there were professional and super friendly. In terms of whats offered i was rather disappointed and in conclusion its not worth the money.

Bacchus really goes above and beyond expectations. Impeccable service in a gorgeous environment. This was my first time having a degustation and I was blown away by the quality of the food. Expensive? Sure, but you're getting what you pay for: expert chefs, top-notch and hard to come by ingredients, attention to detail and food that just looks beautiful. I will start off with the positives from by Breakfast Buffet experience. Staff were exceptional, Pete was the one I interacted with the most, top bloke who makes a great hot chocolate. Food quality was really good, but there just wasn't enough for the price I paid compared to other posh restaurants I have visited. I probably would have said this was the greatest buffet ever had I not been to others similar to this. $41 is what I paid, I paid $39 for the Breakfast Buffet at Thyme2 at Sofitel and that buffet was twice the size and because of that they could offer twice the amount of food and variety. Because of my past experiences I expected more, maybe my expectation VS reality meter was set too high, I don't know but either way I give this place thumbs in the middle. I definitely won't give it a thumbs down because of the quality of staff and food.

The Bacchus is located in the Rydges hotel in southbank. It has a very romantic and exquisite interior and they serve contemporary Australian cuisine. The dishes are creative and optically nice designed. Unfortunately typical for Australian fine dining some dishes were a bit bland but the quality of food was still great. The service was very attentive. Perfect for romantic dates but also nice for business outings. Not good for families and kids. Good selection of cheeses and very generous desserts. If you don’t like bitter tastes stay away from the La vida margerita, probably the worst drink of my life (i hate bitter and smokey tastes) but the other cocktails were delicious. The side dishes were great too. Coffee tasted nice but had some over the top chocolate powder. African summer tea tasted fantastic but came from a tea bag. Valet Parking is $25 (good value for Brisbane inner city). we were delighted to receive (free) amuse gueule and pallet cleanser. We also received a free birthday dessert which was very (very) nice. What else? Prices are very high but that’s what you expect in that class of restaurant. In total it was a pleasant experience.

We came here for the truffle degustation menu, and not only was it absolutely delicious, the service was impeccable. Gorgeous restaurant and everyone was so helpful. Unfortunately there was a bit of a mix up with the booking but they were kind enough to accommodate and went above and beyond. Special shout out to Andrew who made the entire experience more enjoyable by his expansive knowledge! They are doing a Japanese menu next month I'm told - I can't wait to be back!!!

Bacchus is one of the most beautiful and unique restaurants we have ever been!!! People in Brisbane must try this GEM for every possible reasons. The experience felt like we were in a totally different world. The food is exceptionally delicious as they have given importance for every single aspect. Started the journey with some breads! Entree - Mushroom (with blackTruffle) - The mushroom broth was delicious and filled with flavours. Black truffle was perfectly matched with the dish and every bite of my entree was great! Mains - Lamb - Lamb was perfectly cooked with great flavours. The plate looked like an art with fabulous colours and amazing texture. Dessert 1 - Biscotto - The best and most delicious coffee based dessert I have ever tried. Every inch of this dessert was filled with flavours and it will just take you to another level. Dessert 2 - Coconut on the beach - Beautiful presentation with delicious flavours. Every bite of this dessert felt like OG in my mouth. Unique cocktails - First time experience in trying the bite cocktail. This was just amazing and the flavours on the mojito bite just explodes in your mouth (so refreshing with tons of flavours)!! We will definitely be back for more!!

Truely and exceptional experience. I love Baccus, been here many times and still love every experience. The staff are exceptional and service is top notch. Food is worth every penny, you pay for what you get. It is a pricey place but great if you're wanting a special night out, anniversary, birthdays or a happy celebration. Highly recommend and at this price point I would say its my favourite in Brisbane. The food is like art.

Had an alright time. It's good value for money. Staff were attentive and engaged. Eastern plates were missing some aspects - "Vietnamese coffee" espresso martini was not actually made with Vietnamese coffee (wrong bean), and likely had not been drawn in the same way either; sashimi did not delight. Western plates were very good, where they aligned with our palettes (I personally don't like beetroot, but will admit the beetroot opener was a pleasant experience). I would come here again, perhaps when the menu changes - allegedly it will soon-ish, with a change up of the vegetarian menu.

I tried discovery degustation. Which was amazing. I can feel chef's exertion on their food espeacially plating and inventive approach for ingredients. Every dishes come with explanation from staff which is very informative. Whole process has a line and between every big dishes they set refreshinf dishes which can make enjoy whole meal. Table Service was also very friendly and nice. The only thing you should be careful with this discovery degustation is it continues about 3:30-4:00 hours. You will get total 24 dishes(food). So it will be very tough for someone who can't eat a lot or erderly/kids who can't sit down 4 hours eating. But if you are interested with food and can eat a lot, I highly recommend this place.

Bacchus hosted us for my Bridal Shower and the high tea was divine. Bottomless tea & coffee and the savoury selections were just as delectable as the sweet! The interior was beautiful. One flaw was there was no shell in mine but my boyfriend had some shells in his. The octopus was a little disappointing as we were looking for chuncks of meat but instead we found ground up octopus. The foie gras was exceptional. Not just the smoke. The meat was perfect. We will be having that again next time. For mains I had the Lobster with caviar which was perfectly cooked. My boyfriend had the kingfish which I had last time. It was the best fish I ever had in ky life at a fine dining restaurant. The eggplant side was to die for. The goats cheese that came with it was absolutely perfect. Chips were so thick and crispy. Thank you. I had a french white wine. It was so crisp and went so well with the oysters.

Staying for a wedding and didn't have to travel far to ear the finest Dinning available. Somelier Andrew really knows his winelist. They even have their own Estate wines produced. The menu choices and quality are deserving of a couple of Michelin stars at least. Massimo is a serious chef combining delicate flavours with fabulous ingredients. The setting and ambiance of the restaurant was first class. The service was also very attentive and typical of silver service where staff were clearly careful not to intrude. The food presented was impressive as was the progressive menu. Unfortunately what let this restaurant down was the flavour of the food. As much as all the other elements of a dining experience are important the food needs to be savoured and enjoyed by the patrons. It was not terrible at all - I just expected more from this restaurant. In addition, the wine list could have been enhanced with additional by the glass choices.

We’ve been semi regular for the past 4 years or so... we started coming here for special occasions when we knew we wanted and would get a memorable dining experience. I’ll be honest, in the last year and a half or so, they’ve noticeably been slipping. it’s fine if they’re attracting tourists who have never been and aren’t likely to be back, but as a local, I found our last visit to be disappointing in comparison to previous visits. Even the quality of the complimentary bread (which we never ate anyway) was a disappointment. There are no more amuse bouches between courses, (major factor for us) courses are hurried, and lacking the thought and presentation that once kept us coming back. the lobster and caviar was my favourite main, but it was served to me in this awkward tiny bowl, which left no room for me to serve myself the two side dishes I ordered to accompany the lobster. It was presented like an entree and not a main. My wine glass sat empty for much longer than I would have liked, and when the cheque came, they did not bother to include a pen, so they missed out on a tip for a $500+ meal because I was unable to write in the tip! It really isn’t any one large problem, but rather numerous small ones that will inspire us to find a different spot for our next date night. Shame, we really once loved this place.

This place was amazing. It was family friendly with a good kid's menu. The selection of food was unique, but everything was done to a very high standard. The way they cooked the kangaroo sirloin made it a delicacy: better than most beef steaks I have eaten. Similarly, the duck ravioli entree was so tender and juicy that I was disappointed that I was sharing it, alongside other dishes, with the rest of the table. The amazing service (the staff took the time to answer any questions and seemed very knowledgeable and nice) and stylish, yet tasteful, interior only added to the grandeur. Quite pricey, so would only recommend on special occasions.

It is one of the best fine dining place in Brisbane. You must book ahead. I love their oysters and fish dishes. The cake tasted amazing. The restaurant is nicely decorated and well trained staff. They know their wine very well. It has a lovely wine bar outside the restaurant. They have a wide range of wines to choose from to match your dinner.

Went here as my first experience. The service was amazing and friendly. There was just enough food and variety to fill one up, and was quite tasty however, I felt the highlight was the tea. I felt their philosophy was enjoying and sampling tea, which I totally agree with if you’re going to a high tea. I went to Bacchus to celebrate my partner and I's anniversary. I had never experienced a degustation event so wasn't sure what to expect. The food was amazing, My partner and I chose the vegan meal at no extra charge, everything was delicious, in particular, the beetroot dish and of course the mushroom risotto which was one of the most flavoursome meals I've ever tasted. All of the staff were warm, passionate and so knowledgeable about the food being served. Anthony was our waiter and he was absolutely brilliant, he is genuine and definitely knows the courses! He came to check on us just enough to show his concern/give a personal touch but was never overbearing. I will be back again soon, an absolutely phenomenal experience, very filling and satisfying but because of the great quality of the ingredients used and the preparation, I didn't feel ill or overly full. Would recommend! Worth the money, a truly unique and extravagant experience. My only criticism would be how far the seat backing (booth style) is from the actual table, makes it a little awkward. However, apart from that, everything including all the decor and the venue itself was truly perfect, very stylish and elegant. Also, there were no children(thankfully) - a very peaceful, sophisticated and adult experience so probably don't bring the kids! Thanks, Bacchus!

We have been celebrating my wife's birthday in Bacchus. I must say that all dishes and chef compliments were simply amazing; very tasty, full of flavors and absolutely sensational. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Brisbane in terms of food. The wine was also very good. The restaurant has many awards including 5 awards from WineSpectator for the wine list, it is awarded with hats and from the point of food is close to Michelin star restaurants in Europe. Unfortunately, the service is not on par with food and this is disappointing: I was sitting with an empty plate for minutes looking at a waitress, they looked at me but did not react at all; we ordered a bottle of wine but a wine glass of my wife was empty multiple times and nobody cared. I even had to ask a waiter not to forget about us and keep my wife's glass not empty. This is absolutely impossible and unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber and unthinkable in Michelin awarded restaurants in Europe. But again - the food was absolutely amazing from starter to dessert! And my wife received a plate of small desserts with "Happy Birthday" sign made of chocolate - very nice touch

Very fancy place (the couple beside me dressed like it's their wedding day). The presentation of the food was superb (dry ice for oysters) and the waiting staffs were friendly and knowledgeable about the food. This is the sort of nice fancy restaurant where I can ask "what's that in the plate?" and not feel like a fool. Great! Will come back for the 4 course set next time. I had kangaroo meat for the first time here and the waiting staff kindly explained about game meat and kangaroo meat to educate me. Very thankful.

It is already our tradition to visit Bacchus every year for our wedding anniversary dinner. Life is so busy and stressful so we find it is very nice to get a treat for ourselves with something very special and Bacchus never disappoints. 10 out of 5 from me. Great food and service. Entrees were fantastic and the salmon was, too. Selection of wine by the glass could be better, but that did not diminish the overall experience. One of the best restaurants I have been to.

we came with our three-and a half year old for Christmas Eve. (I don’t recommend trying to bring children here unless you know they’re capable of behaving like adults as it will just ruin others’ dining experience as well as your own. Luckily my son was in rare form, and you would have never known there was a kid in the establishment) Service was impeccable. We split the octopus entree. It was more than enough for two. For our meal, I ordered the Moreton Bay bug, and my partner had the steak. We agreed it was the best bug and the best steak we had each had and probably wouldn’t forget the meal any time soon. My son had the children’s ragout, and happily and quietly enjoyed it. All aspects of the meal were worth every penny and then some. We’ll be back. I recommend dinner here for couples who want a memorable meal, and aren’t on a budget.

My partner and I tried the vegan degustation. I must say it was delicious and the flavours were something I've never experienced. However the more intense flavours were in the first few courses. Not to say the rest was bland but i think it set itself a very high bar which the following courses didn't meet as well. I'm a meat eating, lover of spicy food. I didn't get any of that at Bacchus and it was absolutely amazing.

Amazing food and service. Brilliant for occasion dining or before the theatre. Not cheap but worth every mouthful. Having said that it's half what you would pay for a comparable experience in Melbourne or Sydney. The staff are incredible and will share the history of ingredients or wines. Every dish I've tried has been exceptional. And the cheese trolley is one of the best I've come across - the maitre d' will even help you pick matching ports etc. Decor is luxe and there is plenty of room between tables for it to feel private. In short I've been there twice now and had brilliant and memorable experience both times. Highly highly recommended.

A great location for fine dinning and high tea. Consistent food with good atmosphere. Also probably the best foie gras dish I tried in Australia. The three tier high tea was well presented with delicious sweet and savoury treats.

We had a table for 4 for my anniversary, the seats are very comfortable we were attended gracefully by very pleasant knowledgeble smiling staff. But first we met the bar tender who was attentive and very creative I challenged her to create something for me and she delightfully surprised me with a unique delicious cocktail which put me in a good mood instantly. The food was delicious and well presented the portions were more than enough and there were unexpected little surprises along the meal to refresh and compliment our palate. The menu is meticulously studied and the flavours mix and match the exquisite perfumes of dishes offered . I was delightfully surprised by a Happy Birthday plate just for me made of the most representative variety of the sweet menu and so did my guests had an extra splurge in the sweets. Just had breakfast at the buffet. I have had a few $40 breakfast buffet in my life which have been well worth the $40. This one, is far from a value of $37 (I think have paid) Hot food buffet was cold. The poached eggs were presented to me with water at the bottom of the dish. The beans were watery. Lots of herbs in all the food which isn't necessarily to my liking but others may love that. The pancakes came out of a machine. You had to make your own. For that price, and with a comparison to compare it to, I would expect cooked from fresh. The buffet was untidy and not replenished. Most importantly, we we're not asked our hot drink order as soon as we arrived. We we're forgotten. I had to beckon someone over after 20 mins of waiting to request it. On the plus side, when it arrived, it was very nice. Editing the review to a higher score because they listened to my complsint and dealt with it by offering a refund.

The first time my husband and I came here was in late 2017, thanks to my family in Alaska being able to book this surprise birthday experience from afar (which seemed to be the ONLY one in the whole city that offered a vegan option). Kosta (yes, I remember, spelled with a "K") tended to our table. He was so incredible. It was pretty obvious that my husband and I hadn't really been anywhere this fancy together. I remember us feeling a bit uncomfortable at first, questioning ourselves if we should've dressed up a bit more, but Kosta really made us feel at ease, and it helped that he had a great sense of humour. He was so helpful in helping us with the vegan wine list and we never had to wave him over, because he was very attentive to us. Kosta is the man! 👍👍 The food was incredible. Even as a vegan, I get surprised when vegetables can taste this much better. Such a creative medley of flavours, and good pairing of wines. This was such a great experience, and they have one seriously talented chef (or chefs). I hope they continue to expand and switch up their vegan menu, though, because I would really love to see what other amazing things they are capable of creating. Also, the vegan high tea we went to last April was incredible! I cannot believe how full we were, halfway through. Again, great selection and everything was so delicious and beautifully displayed. I don't remember the name of the young lady who served us on that day, but she was so sweet, giving us tips on more places to find vegan options in our area, which we thought was so very kind and thoughtful. I want to thank her again. Really, the staff here are absolutely amazing and pleasant to talk with, they really make this place shine. Hope to come back again soon!
