If I am in the area, I try to stop by and get the Aussie burger with chips deal. I like their old-fashioned burgers that are just tasty and filling. Their chips are the chunky home style type, really nice.

I can remember the stories from my Grandfather reminiscing about the days of a young boy who would go to the burger shop on a Thursday night. “Best Burgers in town” he would say. The day was a Friday, a cheat day for some many including us. The anticipation grew as we walked in reading all the signs with Specials. Walking past each sign, the decision for Lunch changed. Before finally reaching the counter and reading the special above. “Aussie Burger and Chips $10”. A deal so good that if the burger was bad, you couldn’t be upset. Pairing it with a Classic Can of coke only bought the total to $13, a saving which surely results in more beers at the end of the day. Win for all. The burger itself was completed very well, it is a classic combination done well. The patty is juicy, but not greasy which seems to be a compromise so many of us have accepted to be the normal. The chips though are possibly where the fame for shop comes from. Homemade chips, so good that the boss orders $10 worth and nothing else. Well-cooked chips seasoned with Chicken Salt and we are happy. Although the burger and meal was perfect, I have to reserve the 5 out of 5 mark for an experience which changes my life. This place does your classic meals well and consistently well. So if you are after a perfect classic meal, this is the place. If you are after a life changing burger, join me on my adventure.

Stopped and had takeaway fish and chips, fish was great but must admit the chips were a little under done and not as crispy as I would like. Very friendly staff and enjoyed the experience.

My partner and I only recently decided to give this take away store a go as we have passed it many times and wondered what it might be like. There is nothing to fault here, the bacon and egg rolls are awesome and the hand cut chips are brilliant, as are the burgers. Customer service is also excellent! The only issue I have is that we didn't give it a chance earlier. Good stuff guys!

I work for the largest chip company on the planet (no names). Dropped by to run a typical sales call expecting the 'home made fries' sign to be a lie. To my surprise and delight, Paul showed me the area where he prepares the chips and his process for washing, slicing and cooking the chips by hand. I have to say, I was impressed. He even gave me some chips to take with me. I almost ate my hand in the car trying to shovel them down my throat faster. Delicious. Every day I try to educate people about the benefits of buying fries in, but Paul has me beat. Any wonder these guys win awards. Good on you mate.

Didn't have much time to stick around and they had food waiting in the warmer which was perfect for on the eating "on the go". I will return to order their homemade good. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, AND they've got a nice little outdoor front of shop eating area.

We don’t order take- away very often at all, Nice Battered fish and chunky chips, only down side is the amount of oil, fairly greasy, left a bit of a greasy taste in our mouths, but I guess we don’t eat out much so all good, thanks 😊

Beautiful home-made chips my family‘s favourite by far but very overpriced $9 for a piece of fish? Crazy also very oily. Won’t stop us from buying our hot chips though 🙂

Ordered 4 pieces of fish and chips Obviously dinner for the family girl that serves me doesn't look up and says what size chips? tapping the 3 boxes So anyway $44 for 4 pieces of flake and some chips. I walk out to wait in the car with my daughter and see a sign saying cod and chips $10, nice of the girl to tell me about this or any deals etc Used to be my favourite take away now just disappointed with the service. Will be looking for another regular take away from now on.

The new burgers have a decent meat party in them, much better than the el cheapo dog food ones typically found in roadhouse burgers. Coupled with friendly, smiling service, and home cut chips (which are usually, but not always, excellent) I thoroughly recommend them

I love The Diner, the owner and operator is trade qualified as a bread baker, pastry cook and commercial cook. Thats a minimum of nine years training. He has spent years working as a Pastry Chef in the kitchens of five star Hotels around the world. What an interesting chap he is. The fresh doughnuts are amazing and the caramel slice is to die for. The Hamburgers are great and the hot potato chips come in a huge variety. Everything is very tasty and beautifully satisfying...

Seen the "Home Made Chips" banner for years yet never stopped. Finally the timing was right, the anticipation of experiencing amazing home made Chips done well had me salivating. Also ordered some calamari as well. Ok so homemade is homemade imperfectly cut with skins on, no problem with that. Around 10% not cut properly resulting in soggy potato wedge like forms wasn't pleasant. With just a little extra care and cooking time & slightly better temperature these could of been great, but they weren't. Most were oily and a bit under cooked. I have cooked homemade chips, & yes I could do better! When I pay for stuff I like to experience something better than I can do, but at just $8 for a size serve that would have been $5 at any other takeaway, ol mate will have to lift his game to keep people stopping with his drawcard line! The calamari wasn't aweful but it wasn't the greatest. The Chips 3/10 The Calamari 6/10. The service good. One other thing to consider for the owner is to clean the mould & dust out of the front breeze curtain too coz health department would shut your show down for that! Seriously, you could do this better with just a few more minutes a day caring! You can do it! Coz if you don't the Ebbw Vale strip will be dead & lose business to the new ones popping up in the new industrial estate!
