My very first degustation experience - not sure anything else will top this! We did the nine course with matching wines. It was so enjoyable hearing about each wine and how they would complement each course. Great service and staff.
Was worried at first that we wouldn't be full due to the small servings... Boy were we wrong! The food was delicious and so thoughtfully prepared and plated. Truly an enjoyable experience. So much so that the hours seemed to pass so quickly during our time here.
The place itself was charming, quaint - darkly lit which created a romantic atmosphere. Would love to come back here for a date in the future.
Thank you for having us!

Loved it. Service and ambience are a perfect 10. Food was delicious and interesting. Not at all pretentious. I especially loved the wine pairing, and Kristina even sent me a list of the wines the very next day. It all combined into an extremely pleasant experience, probably the best degustation in Brisbane. Very special place.

Great atmosphere and great little place away from the main hotpsot areas of restaurants in Brisbane. The degustation was amazing and one of the highlights for this place. Loved the entire experience. Wish that the servers spoke a bit slower and clearer when explaining what it was we were eating, hard to hear especially with a mask.

Lovely night at DDB tonight celebrating my partner’s birthday. It was our first degustation experience because we are usually very cheap diners, but we wanted to try something new and it was excellent. Service staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was perfect, HIGHLY recommend the strawberry cocktail. The food was all wonderful and so thoughtfully created. We opted for the 5 course degustation. One note I will say is I could’ve been fuller, so next time I will save up and try the 7 course option. It would be great however if every diner no matter their budget could leave with a full tummy ☺️
Thanks team for a memorable night

I recently celebrated my birthday dinner here and I was satisfied. If you love an opulent themed restaurant, you will love the interiors of this place. The food is great but on the pricey side. I hope they have a beef option, since notall of my friends including me eats lamb.
V. W.
Decoration and atmosphere of deer duck bistro is great. We loved their cocktails and most of the food on the long course. The duck and fio gras macaron is so good and you can't find anything similar in the town.
J. R.
Great experience for our first anniversary. Had two amazing cocktails in the bar prior to dinner. Then opted for the 9 course degustation with paired wines. Excellent service and the wines were well paired. Ended the night with a complimentary course and rum and chocolates as the digestif. 7pm to 1045pm.

Ive been here once before. It's a discrete degustation on Milton road, Auchenflower. I went for the 9 course meal on an empty stomach so I didn't quite taste the first two entrèe 😀. The rest were paced out in 5 - 10 minute intervals so take someone that likes to talk. My favourite dish was the mushroom gnoochi...delicious!
Very tasty and decadent. Just enough portioned for a full satisfying dinner.
The staff were fluent and professional. Thank you 🙂

Quaint little restaurant full of character as you walk through the door.
This was my first visit and did not know what to expect, it is refreshing to know the team has chosen a location that is a standalone.
This is also reflected in the food and drinks they serve. The passion and attention to detail is very clearly focused on providing an amazing experience for diners. The degustation menu is tasty and fresh and well-presented and a delight for anyone wanting to explore what the restaurant can offer.
I was pleasantly surprised by the 4 cocktails I tasted, they were all fresh , innovative and of quality ingredients.
If you are a first timer , I would recommend a mid-week visit as I am sure it would get busy closer to the week end as the establishment garners interest among the discerning public in Brisbane . A big thank you to the two lovely ladies who made our drinks and served us our meals. Well done to the team at DDB.

Last night I went to the Deer Duck Bistro for the very first time.
It’s one of those places that you drive past for years and think ‘I should go there one night’.
Well haven’t I been missing out. They offer a number of degustation options depending on how full you are or dietary restrictions. Each meal was presented magnificently and came with a story from the host. Along with paired wines you couldn’t ask for a better night with friends or family.
All up, we were there for nearly 4 hours and didn’t even notice.
I was also surprised with a birthday treat without anything being mentioned to staff.
Please go here. You won’t regret it.

My partner & I dined here on Saturday 26/2/22.
We were greeted and shown to our table. The setting was nice, if anything perhaps a little dark.
We ordered an Espresso Martini each and decided to go with the long course (9 courses). The drinks arrived, which were not the best we've ever had. Then the food began to come out.
Each serving was TINY. While each serving was tasty, it was nothing to fill either of us up.
We ordered a beer each during the meal in the hope this would assist in us being satisfied. It didn't help.
Once desserts came out and we devoured quickly we paid and left promptly only to visit 7/11 and grab a couple of sandwiches.
In total our bill came to $355.00. This included the 2 x long courses, 2 x cocktails, 2 x beers. Unfortunately at this price we feel somewhat ripped off!
We've eaten many degustations, at lower prices and feel the food was better, larger servings and much better priced.

Far out!!! What a delectable experience! I cannot recommend enough. The food was truly exquisite. I was also converted to mushrooms with the Porcini fish. My seafood allergy handled well. The staff were so friendly and professional (but also fun and not stuffy). And the vibe in his place is really old-school-French-regal-charming-romantic all in one! Thank you!
A. N.
The best degustation I have ever had and the vegetarian options are just as good as the meat. The cocktails were also some of the best I have had and the service was professional while also being friendly and warm.
T. H.
We went there for my partner's birthday dinner. We thought the place was amazing, and the services were great! Would definitely recommend this wonderful bistro for dates and getaway nights. Food was really good too, we had the 9 course menu. The price is very fair as well. Overall, 10/10.
A. H.
We love the decor & romantic atmosphere here (our second time). We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 coarse degustation. The food was beautifully presented, delicious with complex delicate flavours. A wonderful mix and balance to the flow of courses with some surprise extras thrown in. The duck fillet, foie gras macaron & orange ju was to die for...but, everything prepared to perfection.
E.
Fantastic meals and knowledgeable staff. An expensive night out, certainly, but well worth it. We had a 5 course degustation, and opted to be completely blind by not seeing the menu, keeping the courses as a complete surprise. Highly recommend the wine pairing package as the flavor compliments are expertly paired.
B. B.
Fantastic! Treat yourself by visiting for a delicious dinner. I've been here a number of times now, and each time is just like the last. Degustations are a must, and if you like wine, get the pairing; they go so well with each course. The service is excellent, very attentive and professional. The ambience is quaint, and perfect for a romantic night out. I don't think I've had a dish that I haven't enjoyed - and so many have been stand-out. The only downside (to the degustation with paired wines) is the price; but it is worth it, and is on par with similar offerings elsewhere.
J. D.
Intimate setting and personal service, but perhaps a bit too dark for some. Food is well made, yet some dishes might work better on paper than on a plate. Strange combinations and a hard to place style, but nonetheless a degustation menu that's satisfying.
J. G.
We had the long course degustation and loved all of it. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere is cosy and relaxing.
I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food
R. A.
Experienced the 9 course degustation with wine pairing. Each dish was incredible and had elements of traditional and modern flavours and concepts. Service was great and the layout was very romantic and intimate. Clean and well kept with air conditioning.
Recommend skipping a meal before the degustations as I struggled through the last two courses. Absolutely worth it though, and will definitely be back with friends.
N. D.
Came here for our anniversary, staff were very good and food came out much quicker than we expected, everything was delicious (we had the degustation). It's pricey though for sure but would definitely recommend for special occasions or events.
P. D.
What a wonderful experience! The decor stunning, the staff just lovely, and the food was sensational! Absolutely recommend the Deer Duck for a very special dining experience!! Thank you, my daughter and I had a fabulous evening!🥂
B.
The degustation was up there with the best I have had. The restaurant itself is nice and cosy. The wines that were paired with the food were delicious. It was also great to have a variety of servers throughout the night.
K. D.
Beautiful food with super friendly staff and great service as always. Ordered the 9 courses degustation and each dishes was more impressive than the previous. Will definitely come back here again.
S. H.
gorgeous intimate place with fabulous degustation, something that is very rare in this city. the service was prompt and helpful and the wine list was refreshing.
just some small suggestions, an amuse bouche between meat courses in degustation will be really appreciated to separate the flavours. And the 5 course degustation can definitely be added with a bit more theatrical experience as compared to the 7 or 9 courses
But love the whole experience and will definitely be coming back!
D. M.
Tried one of the tasting menus. Creative small plates. The chef experiments with various flavour pairings and the dishes are beautifully presented. The dishes show a lot of technical excellence. I really liked the cauliflower risotto.
Ambiance is cosy, chic, and on the darker side.
Service is very good.
J. R.
What can I say, for an $89 degustation, it was marvelous. Attentive and friendly staff coupled with an amazing array of perfectly cooked food would make anyone happy. Can't wait to go again and have the matching wines!
S. G.
Superb. Visited about 6 months after they opened and again last weekend. Both times I had the long degustation menu, and both meals were sublime. I understand there's been a change of ownership, but I couldn't detect any significant difference in the quality of dishes, presentation, or service, all of which were top notch.
My recent trip was Saturday lunch, which was a very quiet time. The portion sizes were excellent, as was the pacing of the meal. Our waiter was helpful and friendly while maintaining an air of unobtrusive formality. We didn't order the matching wines this time, but chose our own from the small but varied selection of wines by the glass.
The food itself was wonderful - flavoursome, well balanced, bright, and often imaginative without crossing the line to contrivance. I missed two of our seven courses, but there are photos of the others.
J. L.
Staff were absolutely wonderful and extremely friendly. They took the time to explain what every dish were and regularly checked on customers how the food were.
The food was impeccable. Pricing wise, the dishes weren't cheap however the quality in which the food were presented and tasted definitely far exceeded expectations.
Overall, I was very satisfied and would recommend others to dine here.
B. B.
The food was nice, the ambiance I didn’t love, too dark and couldn’t see what you were eating very well and the price was very exy! I think there is better degustations in Brisbane that are better and aren’t as expensive. Also the staff weren’t overly friendly.
E. B.
The one of best European food we've had in Brisbane. It was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We were lucky enough to have been served by Edney, the sommelier. He helped us to choose the perfect wine to complement our meals and made the occasion feel extra special. I would recommend to visit this place.
G.
Good and Flavour combinations incredibly well done
Staff and service, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient
Eccentric interior that can’t be guessed at from the outside (don’t judge a book by it’s cover )
This is one of, if not the, best fine dining in Brisbane
My dinner guest summed it up in one word
AMAZING !!!
M. L.
Had the degustation with paired wines on 30/11/21. Food was amazing, paired wines matched beautifully and the service was great. The decor and music created a nice and romantic date night.
K. R.
Never before have I given 5/5 because I have always maintained that any place can improve, even if in a small way. However, the night was perfect. The service was attentive and friendly without being obsequious, we always had our water filled up without having to ask, wine suggestions were good, the background music was lovely and at just the right level which meant one could still talk and be heard, and the food... OMG the food was simply out of this world. We had the 5 course degustation and savoured every morsel. My one dietary request was catered for with a smile. And the decor is truly like stepping back in time. This was worth every cent for a special occasion.
T. B.
Went here for the seven course degustation last night and absolutely loved it. Every dish had a complexity of flavours and you could tell so much care had gone into each one. 10/10. One of the best places I have ever eaten!
K. V.
The food was quite good. Service was great, but I'm not a big fan of degustation as I generally leave hungry 😐 I'd like to try their normal menu sometime. Great atmosphere.
P. N.
Just brilliant! Loved it
Gorgeous food, gorgeous wine.
Fantastic staff.
Totally worth the $$$$$
J. H.
Had the long course degustation. It was absolutely delicious. Great service, atmosphere and the cocktails were impressive.
L. V.
My partner and I were gifted a voucher for a Long Course Degustation, and wow, what an experience!
Having never done anything like it before (and admittedly, not being the kind of person who would normally visit a fine dining establishment), I was blown away.
Each course was an amazingly designed pairing of texture and flavour. While I admit not everything in the 9-course menu was to my liking, all but two of them (in my opinion) were spectacular. The Venison tartare and lamb with hummus receive a special mention - outstanding!
Certainly not a location for an everyday outing, but for a special occasion or for treating yourself, I can certainly recommend it!
E. W.
One of the best restaurant in Brisbane area. Food is great and service is awesome. This is our 2nd visit and the 1st was 2 years ago. I really love the food there, service was excellent.
A. R.
Amazing food, great service and fine dining without being pretentious. We went there for our anniversary dinner and had the long course degustation with matching wines. The venue was a little different - a converted house - a little dark but great for a couples dinner. Definately great food and service without the pretentious feel of the CBD or riverside restaurants in Brisbane.

Hidden gem located at the suburb of Milton/ Auchenflower. We saw the great review of this place and decided to come after dinner for a drink and dessert. The bistro was decorated beautifully with a vintage touch to every little details. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the music played (Dear Duck Jazz 2 on Spotify in case you are interested too)
We ordered a cheese cake. Not the traditional cheesecake you are expecting. Presentation was beautiful and the taste was just amazing. You are paying for a piece of art basically.
Little disappointed they ran out of the tea I wanted. When we first arrived we had to wait for a while to get served. But other than that they service here was good and we will definitely come back to try their mains.

Deer Duck bistro took me back in time. From the moment you step in this beautifully decorated bistro you, you feel like you are in the 19th century. We had a 5 course degustation menu. The dishes were very petit but super tasty. Just reminded me that we need to enjoy the ( the small ones of course) moments in your life and learn how to savour them as if they were the last ones!
Totally recommend this beautiful bistro! Loved it! ( Ask for the cauliflower risotto. It was to die for)
A. H.
Had an amazing night in the regal feeling room all to ourselves. Staff were attentive but also gave us space to enjoy our groups dynamic. Accommodating and knowledgeable, the food was extremely good and the wine pairings were interesting too. Well worth it. Left feeling satisfied and full after the 7 course :)
V. Z.
Went here last night for an anniversary dinner and have a lovely experience. Food was delicious, staff were friendly and helpful. They were accommodating to my dietary requirements and even made dessert special for us as we said we were celebrating our anniversary. Would definitely recommend for a romantic fine dining experience out.
M. J.
What an amazing night. Food was beyond what I expected. And from what I had heard I was expecting it to be really good. We had the 5 course degustation with matching wines. The staff presented each meal with a clear description of what we were having and why each wine was paired with the dish. And they really were all matched perfectly. Standout of the night was that pulled pork amuse but then who could say no to that deconstructed cheesecake with fairy floss! Start to finish perfection! If you have allergies this place will take good care of you. A welcome change from my usual hassles with dining out. Thanks so much to all of the staff for making our night so special. I look forward to bringing friends and family here again and recommending to all who will listen! Thanks guys :)

Went here for a dinner and had the 5 course degustation meal. I was a little hesitant seeming that i myself have a large appetite! All of the food that was served was absolutely amazing! The portions were great with the small intervals in between resulting in myself becoming full. The food itself was ridiculously amazing and filled with so many great combinations of flavour! My partner and i had a wonderful time and would come back again! The atmosphere is also really cool.
A. N.
Just simply WOW. The food, staff and venue was delightful. OH BUT THE BREAD !! When the first course came out we knew we had a solid start and we’re concerned but then each dish just kept delivering. It was amazing and a strong 3 dessert finish was the cherry on top. Thank you for the experience. Your paired wines were heavenly. Thank you once again.
Т. Р.
Love thes plese it is very good.
Had an amazing evening, food was wonderful, were delightful and made us feel very special. Would definitely recommend.
T. C.
Probably the best degustation menu around. Great service and terrific atmosphere.
J. G.
Amazing very special place great food wine and service 10 out of 10 please come here and support a great food experience
G. R.
An amazing evening. The staff were all incredible who went out of their way to look after our table of eleven. They knew their menu well and suitable wines to accompany our meals. The dishes were well thought out, impeccably presented and tasted amazing. Our service team explained each dish upon serving which got us all excited to get stuck in. A thoroughly enjoyable 5 hours in a romantic setting. Well done and a massive thank you to the team.
B. B.
Great food, severe and wine. I had the 9 courses, some where good others excellent.
The place has a nice quirky look which hasn't been overdone.
Not cheap but worth it.
A. M.
The atmosphere in this place is something you don't find nowadays. Fine dining in a non pretentious environment. The long course degustation is an experience that everyone should have as well as the amazing matching wines. Definitely worth a visit for a special occasion.
C. M.
Fantastic food, the atmosphere was rather unique and the service accurate. The only downside was the aircon, which was too strong for our liking, but that should never stop you from visiting this restaurant and, if given the opportunity, ordering the duck
J. F.
Really lovely wines & cocktails. Excellent service too. But the vegetarian tasting menu was a little bit dull overall. There were 2 great dishes and the dessert was also really nice. Atmosphere is really great, feels like you are in another world. Wish I could give it more stars. Might try again in the future to see if their vego offering improves.
m. m.
Had the 9 course degustation with the matching wines. The drinks were very nice, enjoyable and complimentary to the food. The plates were very interesting and a sensory overload, however, and i know there supposed to be on the smaller portions, but i could have done with some more on the plate at times.
Had fun with friends, the ambience, the atmosphere, the service and attention made it a wonderful experience.
E. P.
Really lovely dimly lit restrauant. Not perfect but very good and 4.6 not an option in stars. I hada very nice long degustation menu; 6 out of 9 were superb! Last main and 2 desserts were okay? Perhaps good? I would really only drop a decimal point or 3 because I got the paired wine, which was very nice until the last 3 were not poured in front of me. I'd suggest they don't do that. Definitely still recommend the place.
E. C. W.
Quite frankly brisbanes best degustation menu, amazing wine pairing, wholesome atmosphere and ever caring staff EVER EVER EVER!!! SO MUCH LOVE, i go here every year for my birthday 🎂 without failure
T. H.
Food was lovely. We had a 5 course degustation. Each course was executed well. Atmosphere was really nice. Just a little difficult to hear each other when it was full which took away from the experience. Toilet section was a bit ordinary. The courses were coming out a little slower than we would have liked which meant we were there over 2 hours. The waitresses were great. Overall it was lovely experience and would recommend.
J. N.
Deer Duck is a quaint and intimate reastaurant. Perfect for a date or anniversary as well as a catxh up with friends.
The food is delicious and the staff are lovely.
The wine pairing is definitely recommended!
R.
Went to Deer Duck with a Group of 8 colleagues and certainly left impressed. If you go on a Saturday night you are required to get the degustation menu. However, we did not leave disappointed. All courses were fantastic, but the clear highlight to me was the Deconstructed Poppy-Seed & Orange Cheesecake - it was absolutely delightful! Will return again!
A. D.
Great atmosphere, had the 5 course, was nice but not really worth the price tag. Service was definitely not up to the price tag, asked multiple times for a wine list. Eventually got one but never returned for my order. Overcharged a large amount but was only offered cash back.
S. D.
Intimate, cosy and exceptional food.
We took the two teenagers out for their first degustation! They loved the experience and the theatre of the evening.
O. M.
Staff were absolutely wonderful and extremely friendly. They took the time to explain what every dish were and regularly checked on customers how the food were.
H.
Octopus with a Vegemite glaze was both suprisingly and utterly delectable. Surely such flavour should be reserved for the gods.
M. G.
Deer Duck Bistro is an outstanding, beautiful and romantic spot to enjoy company, great food and wine and old style "proper" service. As ex industry chefs, we often go to degustations as they really do showcase the style, skill and creativity of the chefs in the kitchen. We had the long degustation, me with matching wines (of course) and by far our favourite dish was the CHARCOAL ROASTED LAMB RUMP, GREEN ANTS MARMALADE, MACADAMIA FOAM, NATIVE BUSH DUKKAH. The dish is SO complex and well rounded it stunned us into silence with each bite deserving of a complete eyes closed experience. The tastes alone would have been enough for this review but combined with all the different textures as well..... cannot fault it! A complete experience for the palate! We haven't had the likes of it in Brisbane in a very long time! So major shout out to the chefs! The service....... Wow! Every dish exquisitely explained, every wine explained where it came from and how it complemented the dish. I'm embarrassed to say I only got one name of our beautiful waitresses but thank you to them both Kristina (with a K) and the wonderful woman who greeted and seated us and then served our meals throughout the night. Your service and knowledge is exemplary. Thank you for helping to make our first evening out in a very very long time so enjoyable and memorable. If you are wanting to take someone out for a romantic, soft, beautiful, atmospheric, amazing experience..... I cannot speak highly enough of deer duck! We are already planning our next visit! Thank you again!
V. G.
An enjoyable experience however I felt it lacked any wow factor. The dishes were creative in idea however the taste wasn’t matched. Highlights would be the mushroom cappuccino, beef cheek (although the other plated items felt a little out of place, the beef was cooked fabulously) and the dessert. The dessert was the only dish in which you could taste all the flavours and ingredients described in the menu .
A few mistakes were made by the wait staff and myself and my dining partner felt they were a little too hovery and we sometimes felt rushed to finish courses.
I did leave very full which was great and it was a nice experience however I think for the price, I will be investigating other options next time
P. C.
Amazing dining experience. Caters well for vegetarians too.
A. M.
Had the 9 course degustation. Favourite dish was the chocolate dessert. Overall, filling but not amazing. Beef was chewy. Moreton bay bug and bisque were salty. Not a fan of the decor and ambience - dark and out dated. Good service.
T. A.
Wonderful service, well presented and tasty dishes. Unique setting and decor which was cool and different. We had the 9 course setting. For the most part they were impressively presented, really yummy dishes that you wouldn't normally get out at another restaurant however they weren't blow your mind kind of dishes. Staff were very professional, knowledgeable and gave an up market feel however there were long wait times between some of the dishes that were coming out. Was a nice experience and something we ticked off our 'places to try' list.
I.
The venue is very nice (mood lighting, good art, well themed).
The bread, cocktails and staff were excellent.
The food left a lot to be desired - the octopus was tough as old boots and there were bones in the confit duck. The Cod was uninspiring.
The quail and carrot cake we're good.
For the price tag it was a very disappointing experience (this is a premium Brisbane venue).
To be fair the manage did take a generous amount off the bill, so they are certainly putting in effort.
I believe there is promise here and maybe we got an off night.
A. R.
We had a party of five for a 7 course degustation. The ambiance and table setting was beautiful. It looks like a silver service restaurant, however, the extra service normally given in a restaurant of this calibre, would normally place the napkins on laps, and more attention to details.
Two of the party got the wine pairing, which was amazing. The food looked amazing and was delicious. The staff explained each meal and wine very well. However, the other three guests purchased a drink at the beginning and was never asked if they would like another drink, seemingly only the wine paring people got the attention for drinks. We also needed to ask twice for more water before we eventually got some. One guest (myself) was gluten free and although this information was given months before on booking, I was given vegetable dishes as replacement for the venison dish and the octopus dish which seemed unusual as both meats are gluten free and surely a variation could have been made. Although the replacements dishes were delicious, its hard to fathom the same price for a vegetarian dishes than for seafood or meat. No coffee or tea was offered during or after dessert, so we needed to go elsewhere for that. All in all it was a lovely night, but for a night out costing over $700 I think these few issues need to be addressed for our party to return.
D. E.
Driven past this restaurant several times and never really considered it based on the exterior, however goodness me it's brilliant. Went for the 'long' degustation course which was simply delightful; they even made gnocci taste unique. Loved it.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly throughout the entire experience.
Highly recommend paying them a visit even just for the desserts. Brilliant.
Ps... They need to be better and more creative with their instagram though. Also a bit more responsive.
P. H.
Delicious food. Excellent wait staff. Amazing overall experience
j. b.
Date night PERFECTION!
Top notch in every regard. It is hard to decide what elements of the evening stood out the most. The staff are excellent and extremely knowledgeable and polite. The atmosphere and decor were formal yet inviting. The food, of course amazing... as were the paired wines. We will be back for another seven-course degustation and this venue is on top of my recommendations list.
M. D.
Yum. Food looks great. Fantastic service. Amazing atmosphere.
B. L.
Our group of five had the 7 course degustation. They catered for one of our group that was vegan. The atmosphere was cosy and the service was good. Some staff were friendly and helpful. The food was a little underwhelming for the most part. There were a couple of really lovely courses, but in comparison to other degustation menus we have had, a number of the courses were 'just ok'. My octopus was rubbery and I had trouble cutting through it. The duck taco was delicious - lots of great flavours that combined well. The risotto was quite flavourless, but the raspberry and onion chutney was a nice accompaniment to the smoked beef flank. The mango parfait for desert was a really nice desert to finish with, light, full of flavour and very moreish. The wine matching was excellent .
R. A.
Definitely going to be a one off experience for me. The food was nice but it was literally was just a snack. And for the price I paid for the long course meal and drinks, i could taken my wife for a nice weekend beach getaway. Besides the overpriced food the atmosphere was great and the waiters were impressive.
Z. H.
Always amazing, this was our second time here and it was incredible. The food was a work of art! We had the long menu which was 9 plates of amazingness. We will be back
D. T.
An extraordinary culinary experience. The food was profoundly good, the wines were perfectly partnered with the food and exquisite, the staff were attentive and informative. Nothing to fault. Will definitely be back. Easily our best degustation experience in Brisbane. Only comparison for us is Rome and Nobu in Dubai. Perfect!
F. M.
Absolutely Perfect!
We had the 9 course degustation and every dish was perfect! Presentation was precise and beautiful, and the wine list is fantastic! The layout and decor are fantastic and can suit a quiet dinner for two or a larger party.
We will be back!
R. B.
Great food and great experience - decor and setup inside the restaurant is pretty nice!
V. C.
Beautiful food, wonderfully presented and very accommodating for those with dietary requirements as long as you give them enough notice. The degustation menu is awesome. Vegetarian and vegans catered for. Wait staff are super professional and friendly. Cannot fault this place. 💖
P. S.
Awesome! Best food I've ever had. Only thing I would change is that the portion sizes were bigger because still hungry after 5 course meal

Celebrating our 2nd anniversary, we ordered the long course with wine pairings. They did a great job of matching wines with the courses. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. Each dish was full of new and exciting flavours, and many Incorporated native Australian ingredients. We had an amazing night.
L. W.
Fantastic dining experience. Each course was exceptional, the wine pairing perfect. Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.
P. S.
We booked Deer Duck for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. We ordered the 5 course degustation and enjoyed every moment. This hidden gem of a restaurant was definitely a unique experience. We will be returning in the future
D. F.
Great please, good atmosphere and friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Toilets need a bit work a revamp.
A. C.
Exquisite food with delicate beautiful flavors. I really enjoyed their Valentine menu.
The ambience is extremely victorianesque England. Imagine dining in a english nobleman's 18th century dining room or drawing room or gentleman's club.

What an amazing experience delightful food great service good cocktails highly recommended this
C. L.
A lovely dining experience with an eclectic ambiance, the service was attentive without being over the top. I was torn as to whether to give this a four or five star review as i felt some of the degustation dishes were over seasoned. Overall however i was overwhelmingly happy with the chefs flexibility on courses as one of our party had intolerance issues.
C. W.
From the moment you enter to the moment you leave it's an amazing experience
Always recommend deer duck bistro
S. L.
Owner didn't give full entertainment book discount. Don't think I'll go back
J. B.
I don't just give good ratings for good food - I'm giving this restaurant such a high rating because of their service - simply outstanding! LOVE the relaxed attitude of the waiters and chefs - we felt like we were at home!We stayed there for hours! the waiters just kept filling up our glasses with wine and our bellies with amazing UNUSUAL food that I'd never thought of ordering! it was such a delight.
L. L.
We visited Deer Duck whilst we were away visiting family, this was a night a away. We had the 5 course degustation menu with matching wine. We thoroughly enjoyed it, the staff were attentive but unobtrusive and very knowledgeable. The food and wine matching was delicious. I would recommend you book a table and would definitely go back if we visit Brisbane.
M. K.
We've had a number of degustation meals over the years and unfortunately this didn't rate with the best of them. Service was good. Setting was ok. Short course with matching wines was disappointing. Extremely small serving of wines. Suggest you purchase a bottle or 2 instead of paying $75 each for tiny servings. Meal was average . We did expect and have had better, especially for $380 for 2 people. Unfortunately a little dissapointed.
S. M.
I thoroughly enjoyed all 5 courses at Deer Duck Bistro when I visited here this week! I’m not a big eater so I found the portion size was good for each course. However I’d probably say that for other people the portions could be a tad too small in comparison to other fine dining tasting menus. I particularly loved the decor at Deer Duck as it was very reminiscent of my home, England. The service was great and the waiting staff were professional and friendly. Can’t wait to visit again to try a different menu! Thank you for an amazing experience Deer Duck Bistro!
R. A.
A couple items on the menu were outstanding (lettuce and pasta). The steak was too raw, and we weren't asked beforehand how we would like it . The service was very polite but too slow. The short course took us more than 2.5 hours.
R. A.
Went for the 5 course degustation on one of the deals. The restaurant is a number of rooms which link too one another. The decor is fascinating, not sure how best to describe it, modern french renaissance? But there are endless things to look at and talk about. Great conversation starters.
The food was beautifully presented. What appeared to be small servings but by the end of the 5 course we were full so just right for the style of dinning. The one thing that I loved was that it was varied, novel in its presentation and certainly something you would not do at home. This was a proper dining experience.
The wine list was expensive but the wines were not your run of the mill wines with a good selection of french wines.
If you are looking for somewhere special, to impress or somewhere just different and are happy to pay for a top end restaurant then I would say give Deer Duck a go.
J. H.
We were were very pleasantly surprised by the decor on arrival. Something like an old fashioned gentlemen's club. Liked how the dining spaces were in varying sized rooms. Just the right amount of lighting. The service was excellent. Very attentive, helpful and friendly waitstaff.
As for food. We had the 5 course degustation, and each course was excellent. Particularly liked the truffle pasta. Servings were small, but adequate unless starving. Wine list was good, with some well matched wines for each course. Would definitley go back.
R. B.
Only had the pleasure of ordering delivery during the corona-lockdown but this is some of THE BEST food I've had in Brisbane, if not the whole of Aus. So good we got it two nights in a row ;)
Amazing.
I cannot wait til we can go and dine in the restaurant! Massively recommend.
C. L.
I had an amazing dinner here with my boyfriend! The 7-course degustation was amazing - so many flavours and different variety of food! My favourite was the Duck with Roman Gnocci!
My partner and I had the matching wine option and loved it! The waiter explained every wine, where it is from, what it tastes like and why it matches to the food. It was impressive how much thought is behind their menu!
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
J. A.
I had my birthday dinner at this lovely bistro. The place is bigger than it seems from the outside, with a series of small cosy rooms that reminded me of an old gentlemen's smoking lounge or library. It had a really nice ambience, and the wait staff were very attentive. We had the short course degustation menu (vegetarian), and the chef was very accommodating of my intolerance to nightshade plants (chili, capsicum, eggplant, tomato). There was also no tofu or fake meat in sight - just delicious vegetables presented in very inventive dishes. I heard other diners praising the non-vegetarian menu too. My only minor criticism is that the chef seems to be obsessed with pickles. Pretty sure there was something pickled on every dish, including dessert. My partner and I were laughing about it after the third dish. Having said that, I would definitely come here again.

Top Shelf Dining
My wife and I booked the 5 course Degustation Menu for a Thursday Night sitting and we were so impressed in everyway.
S. S.
The food was innovative and beautifully presented, the service was professional, friendly and knowledgeable and the restaurant ambience was intimate and cozy. Looking forward to returning.
E. M.
This has to be the most romantic fine dining restaurant we have been to . What a hidden gem! From the street you would never know, but once inside the decor, lighting and ambiance filled us with delight. The service was exceptional and the food was top notch. The only downside was the $15 PP corkage charge for BYO which was rather steep. Looking forward to our next visit.
J. G.
The service was faultless. The food was good.I didn't do my research though( my fault not the restaurants) Cause it's only degustation on Saturday nights..I prefer to choose from a menu and just have a couple of courses..but I'll have to go back another time.🙂
B. M.
Could not recommend this place more. I went to Deer Duck for the first time last night after being proposed to by my partner! He and the staff had arranged for a beautiful table and amazing food and drinks to celebrate the special occasion. They even put rose petals across the table. The staff were SO friendly and attentive and the decor and vibe of the space was PERFECT. It was a seriously delicious meal and the most amazing end to my night. THANK YOU Deer Duck!
N. R.
Okay, so this is a somewhat biased review, as we both had the vego degustation menu. However, everything we had was on the menu, so that's a thing.
It was a good evening, the venue had a unique and historic feel. The food was tasty, and we both left very satisfied
However, for the 300 dollar price tag (for two) it didn't meet expectations. Here is why:
1. The food was okay, nothing was bad, but it was not good enough for the premium price.
The main issue was that some dishes were under salted, and some were over salted.
One of the desserts was also too mild, such that it was flavorless after the previous dish.
Every dish was interesting, but some didn't quite hit the mark. Nothing really stood out as exceptional.
2. The drinks. I had one of the cocktails off the list, and it just wasn't nice. I have had a cocktail or too in my time, and will drunk just about anything, but not that. The juice was weird and it just didn't work. Also, the first g&t had no garnish. I would expect a garnish added to match the selected gin.
3. The atmosphere was weird and it was also too quiet. When placed in the only room with customers (there were other empty rooms with set tables), it actually felt awkward to have a conversation.
So, all in all, this place would be 4/5 at half the price, but I still probably wouldn't revisit.
C. M.
I dined at this beautiful bristro for the first time on Tuesday night after purchasing a Groupon Voucher for the seven-course degustation. To be completely honest, without the Groupon deal (36% off the normal price) I probably would give the degustation a pass as it is a little pricey. But I absolutely loved the meals and the bistro itself.
I absolutely loved this place for the staff’s professionalism and attentiveness to our table. The bistro venue itself is so quirky and the ambience is so fitting and comfortable. The food that was served in the degustation was to die for. Every dish was so delicious and beautifully presented. Loved it and would recommend it to anyone who hasn’t been here before. Top stars.
A. M.
The long course degustation was absolutely beautiful. The chef also caterer to my intolerances without question. Would highly recommend to anyone for a special occasion.
J. C. L.
Food was tasty with delicious use of truffle seasoning. Service was good; there was a lot of emphasis on wait staff giving speaches about the food and beverage for each course. The intent was nice.
My partner and I were shocked when they wanted us to pay a cleaning bill for their carpet floor when a toddler spilled a little sick (which was cleaned immediately and didn't leave a mark). If the business caters to families, then small children making unavoidable mess is wear and tear and part of the business model.
Furthermore, who the hell would carpet a restaurant dining floor? To me that is irresponsible and unhygenic. Dining areas should be mopped and bleached daily.
The manager let us off the next day after my partner got riled up on the phone. But everyone (10 guests), were left feeling that the handling was in poor taste.
J. M.
Attended the Christmas Lunch today. Oh my word.. The food was delicious! The wine matching spot on! The staff absolutely lovely and professional! We will for sure be back!! Merry Christmas 💕
T. G.
Absolutely magnificent. We ordered the long course degustation and every course was beautiful, for me the stand out was the Venison Tartare. The staff were amazing and the restruaunt itself was very well decorated. Don't let the cost put you off. Worth every penny.
n.
Amazing bistrô. The service was EXCELLENT and the good Divine! Me, as a vegetarian, was Very happy with the options they provided to me and my boyfriend, that loved meat, was Very happy as well! The decor os awesome! Definetely want to Go back soon! But be aware that IS not a cheap menu. You Will Love It, though!
H. D.
Super impressed! The food and wine pairing was spot on, wine from all over the world with unique varietals.
F. L.
One of the best restuarant experiences ever. The 7 course degustation tasted amazing and only took 1 hour to be served in its entirety. The staff were fanastic and the atmosphere was relaxing and utterly beautiful. The decor was like stepping back in time. Very romantic. I would not recommend taking children. Definitely try the degustation menu if you enjoy well balanced unique flavours. 5 stars 😄
C. L.
Been here 3 times in 2 months because the food was just heavenly. They offer only degustation on certain days - Had 5 courses the first time with my girlfrens, then 9 courses (their longest) with my partner and 7 with my family right before christmas. Every single dish (except the strawberry mousse cheese cake which kinda tasted like tooth mousse if it's not cold enough), were amazing. Their staff standard is high as well, no less than the first line fine dining restaurants eg. Aria. The atmosphere is awesome, perfect for dates. the only thing is probably -The manager could smile a bit more, and slow down his pace when serving and explaining what the dishes are, but overall there's really nothing to be picky about with this place. It's near perfect. I'll be coming back for more.
Recommended cocktail: bramblin' along
B. D.
The food, the atmosphere, the service, all were brilliant! We had the 5 course degustation, but unfortunately the servings were small enough we left hungry and had to visit McDonald's on the way home.
N. W.
In my opinion - one of Brisbane's best restaurants. Our family favourite for celebrations and birthdays. The food is ALWAYS amazing, service is 10/10 and the wine list is fabulous too!
M. C.
An interesting experience my wife and I went for our anniversary. Very different flavours to what we were used to but still a great experience. A romantic dim lit ambiance and friendly service, good place for a special occasion.
Z. K.
Have been here twice, both with the long course degustation, and have always enjoyed. A special treat, I always get excited when I get to mark a reservation on my calendar for this gorgeous restaurant.
m. j.
Went to Deer duck a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. We started with the 63 degree egg and then my wife had the kingfish, and I had the lamb. For dessert I had the carrot patch and the wife had the chocolate garden. Everything was great value ,great service will be back to try a new chefs menu I am told is starting soon.
K. S.
We went to Deer Duck Bistro last Friday. They now do a chefs menu there is a five course and a 8 course. We had been here about a year ago.
Tonight the dinner and service was fantastic.
We often eat out at new places and forget about deer duck. Yet again we asked ourselves why don't we come here more often. They food is as good as Urbane and Esquire and easily offering the best food this side of town. Keep up the good work!!
A. C.
Dear Deer Duck, I love you. In fact, I fell in love with you before I got there. The ambiance was set out to perfection.
The small meals, tasters, were exquisite. Some a work of art. The different levels of tastes and smells were intoxicating. Hello taste buds.
Was giddy like a 3 year old school girl with pig tails and on top of that I shared this experience* with my best friends. Love.
*not a dinner, not consumption but an experience.

Food was very interesting, if pretentious. The price was outrageous, but we were given it as a gift. 7 courses and each one new to me. Like many things in life, I am glad for the experience, but will never go again.
M. A.
We didn't get off to a good start.
We asked for a very dry Martini and got them made with sweet vermouth. Response: "we should buy some dry vermouth". At $18 each, not good enough!
Moved on to the five-course degustation, with accompanying wines. The food itself was excellent, very well cooked and presented, but the portions a little small, even for 5 courses. The accompanying wines were pretty ordinary and, again, a minimal amount. Somewhat stingy, especially at $55 per head.
All up, cost was $330; really OTT, even considering the cosy, romantic ambiance.
c. m.
We visited the restaurant for our 2nd visit on a Wednesday night. The food was quite good but the service was poor. We ordered the 9 course degustation which took 3 hours to serve. On serving our last course at 10.15pm we were informed the restaurant will be closing at 10.30pm. At 10.30pm the waiter returned and asked us to leave. It was clear the staff had somewhere else to be as we were not offered coffee, or served our champagne (complimentary when ordering the degustation through the week) after asking the waiter 3 times. We spent $700 with your restaurant and unfortunately we were left dissapointed due to the service we received.
G. C.
Brilliant! We had the 'Short Course' degustation and were mightily impressed. First time visit, and shall be returning for a lunchtime a la carte experience in future. Lovely European ambience, exceptional table service and an incredible kitchen staff. What a gem of a find. Thank you Deer Duck Bistro for an unforgettable Friday night out!
W. J.
I recently had the pleasure of eating at this gem of a restaurant, from start to finish it was an incredible experience. The second I stepped off Milton road and into deer and duck it was like I was in another world! The lighting and decor is magical. The food you may ask? Forget about it! Try it yourself, you will see!
J. N.
The food and service were impeccable. This is a little gem in the city that I would highly recommend trying. I loved every bite as well as the wine pairings. We can’t wait to come back!
R. D. B.
Me and friends just visited this place! The service was excellent, we ordered 6 different dishes and all my friends were happy with the food like me! Everything was fresh and nicely coked as we wanted. Definitely going back for a nice experience 😄 thank you guys.
G. B.
Delightful restaurant.
Nine courses of interest to excite the taste buds.
Driven passed a thousand times, worth a stop.
B. S.
DDB is great! It has a very cool vibe, and reminded us of funky restaurants that we've eaten at in Europe. Once you get past the front room, it is a dark, narrow warren of rooms all comfortably kitted out with a mix of Grandma's house and Manor House knick-knacks. We had the five course degustation, which was a fantastic mix of top quality ingredients, done fairly simply but extremely well. Brisbane doesn't have many restaurants like this so I highly recommend it!
P. G.
We had the 7 course degustation and it was delicious. Great service meals came with great timing didn’t have to wait long at all and the wine was really good also.
Highly recommended thankyou.
A. C.
Outstanding food experience and great service. As a truffle lover, I could not have expected a better dinner. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate as well.
A. M.
Such a great ambience and delicious food. perfect place for a dimly lit romantic date. The staff were well trained to describe each course.
P. M.
I went there for a function and everything was amazing! The food was such an experience and the atmosphere of the restaurant is like nothing else in Brisbane. Plus the staff were super helpful with recommendations. Thanks Deer Duck!
M. D.
From beginning to end, everything was perfect. You'll be amazed by their menu as if you want to order everything that they were offering. The place has an awesome atmosphere.

J. L.
I was at Deer and Duck with my friend and we had a lovely evening. The food was excellent and they even had an gluten free option!! If you want to spoil yourself: Go there and taste it.
j. G.
Amazing experience! The degustation menu was fantastic, thank you Deer Duck Bistro for such a memorable birthday dinner.🥂🍾
L. C.
EDITED REVIEW: After emailing DDB about the meal, they offered us to come back and enjoy a seperate menu, on the house. Regardless of what that meal will be like, this is a restaurant that cares about its customers and really, really wants them to enjoy the experience.
This is something you see less and less nowadays and its amazing that DDB have been so good in this instance. 5 stars for that alone :)
K. G.
Proper fine dinning, lovely food and nice ambiance. We found it Pricey compared to other fi e dinning restaurant but overall nice experience.

J. W.
Fabulous, from the decor to the ambience, waiters, food and wine selections. Coffee was average but everything else was just fabulous.
a. h.
Enjoyed, the food was divine, the only critic was that the few duck sliced were cut incorrect and was slightly under done, the recast of the skies where perfect. Signed Food Lover.
l. m.

Fantastic service here, and the food was delicious as well.
It has a great atmosphere and the function space is awesome! Thanks again.

For a chef hatted restaurant this place was pretty ordinary. Nothing spectacular about the food and everything felt a bit outdated. I probably wouldn’t go back.

Food was amazing. Service was amazing. Can't fault it one bit.
R. S.
I was taken here for my birthday celebrations but wasn't wowed ambience was lovely food was good but in comparison to other degustations I've had not great also I didn't feel the front of house to be very welcoming at all the new Russian waiter was really lovely he should be rewarded the other one needs to be retrained in customer service Im sure many people would not want to return due to the unwelcoming vibes of certain front of house staff.
I. S.
A delicate dining experience. 5 courses was amazing, can't wait to do the long!
L.
7 course adventure for the taste buds and punishment for the credit card. This expensive AF restaurant is recommended for guys who have forgotten their girlfriends birthday and need to redeem brownie points.

A-MAY-ZING!!!!! We had a Mum and daughter special dinner and enjoyed the long course degustation. Our favourite courses were the Amuse - Bouche, Enoki Mushroom dish with truffle, and the Duck breast was just divine! Mentionable cocktails that you must try are the Felix Felicis, Amarula Espresso, and Golfo Di Salerno. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the vibe is cosy, classy and a little romantic and overall one of the very best restaurants in Brisbane! Any foodie who hasn’t tried Deer Duck Bistro must book now!
