Been to Saturday lunch twice and had good experience both times. Menu changes regularly which makes it interesting. Delicious and well presented dish with good wine list. Would recommend lunch course and price is also reasonable. Would like to try dinner next time.

Loved Gauge!
Food was delicious but Mark and the team were outstanding.
We got the oysters and matching wines--so worth it and definitely elevated the experience.
My faves were the fish and the lemon curd, yum!
Highly recommend and if you have time pop into Maker for a pre or post meal drink; it's by the same owner :)

This restaurant was one of a kind. The food was creative in taste, choice of ingredients, presentation and texture. The chef clearly thinks hard and long about the combination of all the ingredients to create the gastronomy that he does. Ambience is cozy and the service was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended for date nights and groups of foodies who are curious about food from start to finish.

Really yum restaurant in South Brisbane.
Firstly this place has a great wine list filled with an interesting selection of wine. We choose the 2018 Supply River Mill pinot noir from the Tamar, which was light and fruity and matched the food perfectly. We also had a glass of the Hungarian tokaji desert wine, which was also great.
Secondly the food was all extremely inventive and tasty. Favourites from the menu were the chestnut cannoli, the sour potato bread, the cobia, the gingerbread dessert and the black garlic bread. In fact it's with coming here for the black garlic bread alone, as it is that good.
Finally the staff are great and really add to the experience.
M. L.
Interesting, unusual and eclectic menu in a tiny restaurant that didn't feel crowded. We had the "Feed me" menu that I believe showcased the menu extremely well.
The flavours were subtle and nothing too outrageous or strident with everything going well.
The drinks list is very limited no doubt due to the small venue but the bottle of chardonnay we had was delicious.
The service was great and very friendly.

Came on a Wednesday night with four of my friends and we were all so impressed by how delicious every dish was! My favourites were the mushroom spaghetti, nori tart (could have eaten five of those) and the lychee coconut dessert. Lamb was also very flavourful and tender. Service was attentive and waiters were very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm in town visiting from Canada and might need to go back for round 2 before I leave :)

Really glad we could have brunch here. Place was lively and relaxed. Great service, it does get busy towards later in the morning around 11am. Food is great. Honest, and creative. Coffee was good too. We ordered the white anchovy on toast and black garlic bread with butter. Would Def recommend to share as the egg mayo did get a little too much after eating half the portion. The black garlic bread was very interesting in flavours but be prepared, the garlic aftertaste hits strong later. 43 AUD for two.
E. S.
Nice vibe, great food with cool service.
I liked their music and interior design very much not to mention food and service ;)
We went for dinner on Thursday which was not too busy so we could enjoy food for about 2 hours with good selection of wine.
Would try brunch next time!
We had 3 course with some side menus. It was reasonable and satisfied.

I was really excited to visit Gauge on a recent trip to Brisbane! The prospect of a fine dining breakfast really intrigued me, but unfortunately I was left a bit disappointed. The dishes were interesting, beautifully presented, but not enjoyable. The black garlic bread we’d read so much about was way too sweet yet savoury and bizarre, and the egg on top of my crumpet toast was undercooked. Coffee was decent, nice atmosphere, decent service. Saying that, if I visit Brisbane again I will still go back, the menu’s changed a bit and I love the concept so much that I’m willing to give it another chance.
W. -.
The rooms are exquisitely decorated. The service is very good. Food and drink were also plentiful, especially when the food satisfied the aesthetic needs. It was well managed and the serving time was appropriate. The atmosphere is very comfortable. It's a very worthwhile restaurant.
S. H.
lovely little place tucked away in the corner of fish lane. wine list is pretty good, although can add a bit more of australian reds like cab sauv and shiraz. food was pretty good, especially the in house baked bread. main portion sizes are a bit underwhelming though. can definitely come back for another try.
S. U.
Top teir food, an absolutely thrilling culinary experience! The service was attentive and friendly, the attitudes and music matched the decor and lighting perfectly. I have no fault for these guys, I see them prepping in the kitchen on the mornings before service and their dedication to the craft is exemplary! 10/10 !
K. L. L.
Never had a bad meal here, it has been consistently outstanding over the course of several visits over several years. Each visit was incredible, inventive and beautifully integrated, delicious food. Service always personal, attentive and outstanding. Great wine list with thoughtful, well priced gems and a smart somm. The lunchtime set menu at $68 is ridiculously good value and elevates this from a special occasion restaurant to a regular favourite. Keep up the great work, 10/10.
J. R.
Really disappointed. Service was good. But the food is really average. Main course, Fish wasn’t cooked properly. The entree raw beef is way too salty. Luckily, the dessert is really nice and interesting. We have to sit outside which is really noisy. Just wondering how can this restaurant get no3 on gourmet traveller’s list of Brisbane’s best restaurants right now.
W. S.
Went to Gauge for brunch while visiting BNE. Would call this the best value for money fine dining brunch in Brisbane. Would definitely try out their lunch and dinner next time we go back. Loved the “garlic” bread and crumpets, very interesting fusion of flavours and textures.
M. L.
Amazing food and presentation. Service was friendly and easy going. You don't have to take the hole menu if you don't want to. We had a few snacks and drinks in the evening.
Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Nice staff.

If you are after a different breakfast menue in Brisbane, you are in the right place.
Serving a very good coffee (could've been a bit hotter though) the food is amazingly delicious. From a simple avo on toast to the soft egg, everything tastes different.
Dark garlic bread is also nice with coffee.
A. S.
We went to Gauge for brunch and it had a nice atmosphere and service was adequate. The space was a bit dark for brunch, but it is just a product of the location of their windows and dark coloured can decor. The brunch menu was interesting and solid but no real stand out. Would come back to try their dinner menu.
G. B.
7 course menu was awesome. Very kind staff, great wine matches, one of the best fine dining restaurants in Brisbane.
G. B.
Best dining experience of 2021.
Faultless.
Wine was on point and staff friendly and attentive.
But the food .... It speaks for itself.
Y.
Excellent breakfast and vibe. High quality elegant touch for all dishes. Price is reasonably high but not overpriced. Enjoyed it.
A. J.
I've been to Gauge for breakfast and lunch a few times and the food and service has generally been excellent. They do have some interesting dishes, which I really like but might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they also have some less adventurous options.
Some time ago I had a frozen blue cheese and grape dish here, and despite being a big fan of blue cheese, it was difficult to get through, but other than that the food has always been impeccable. I had a lovely waffle breakfast recently, which was delicious and beautifully presented.
L. S.
The food is always cooked perfectly and well worth the price. The service is always outstanding and very knowledgeable of the menus, both food and drink.
D. K.
The food was amazing and they'd get 5 stars if they're Basque cheesecake was actually Basque cheesecake.
B. C.
A truly incredible experience!
We went on Saturday night & were blown away again by the incredible service, sublime food and the wine!
D. R.
Amazing coffee. Bacon sanga was good...added egg...would have prefer to not be runny but homemade now sauce...YUM. also had the sourdough waffles..good combination of flavours
S. C.
Wow. Combination of stunning presentation and amazing taste sensations. I had the white anchovy, egg mayo, parsley, cured pork cheek, toasted rye, and it tasted as good as it looked. The cured pork cheek sits on top
J. P.
The degustation started amazingly but by the 5th course once our previous waiter had left, they forgot about us, they didn't fill the water, they didn't serve the pairing wine. And by the time of the bill, they even take back the petit fours...in like seconds, I literally just looked at them and they were gone. The food is amazing so the chefs are masters in my humble opinion but the service lacks on detail and polishing. The price is right for the food quality but for the the service is not even near the expectations. If you pay high you expect the best service not average. Not saying names but just one of the waiters was above expectations the other 2 were just wanting to finish the night.
W. L.
Nice little spot...felt a little pretentious when I walked in but in typical Brisbane style, people were dressed in shirts and thongs so it was ok. The tables are small to counter for the minimal space and therefore, patrons that are served. The food was interesting which is why we ordered it. I really loved my greens - they were in a nice sauce. Winter Greens in a Sunflower Tahini, Toasted Rye Sourdough, Soft eggs and Natuve Dukkah. My friend thought her breakfast was amazingly delicious. She had blood pancake, raw fish, daikon and poached egg!
R. O.
Service and atmosphere were fantastic.
We went for the degustation. Food had some interesting flavours but they didn’t compliment each other. The kingfish curry dish was just really strong and overpowering and the fish was a bit chewy.
Had a nice intimate vibe but didn’t think it was great value.
P. P.
Excellent food and service, cozy environment just next to museum, best restaurant in Brisbane visit this week
A. v. d. S.
I don't live in Brisbane, so was following the advice of Urbanlist. I may come back to Brisbane just for the black garlic bread and burnt butter, it was amazing.
I. S.
INCREDIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE - Will definitely return!
The atmosphere is very nice, cosy and intimate. The dinner degustation menu was varied and incredibly delicious. However, what truly made the night very memorable was the attention of the waiters/staff and in particular the sommelier/restaurant manager. Highly recommend going and we will definitely be returning!
J. W.
Perfect coffee and two exceptional dishes lead us to believe everything will be of the same standard.
Avo with kimchi was delicious, and the ham, egg blood pancake with pickled caper leaves blew us away.
F. K.
So glad I tried this place! Black garlic bread, one of the best things I’ve tried in a while. Breakfast was full of flavour and unbelievable! Loved it
W. W.
This was our second time visiting Gauge. The food is exceptional, innovative and expertly balanced. The wine list expertly crafted and service unobtrusive. You leave feeling that you have been part of something extraordinary.
P. S.
A good option if you’re going to GOMA or the Art Gallery or the Library at South Bank in Brisbane. Good coffee and smart looking.
L. L.
My friend and I visited here on a trip to Brisbane, and the food was very tasty. We opted for a three course package; they also offer two courses and seven courses. We then ordered a second serve of the cuttlefish entree (starter/appetizer for American readers) as it was very tasty. If I could give 4.5 stars I would because the prices are on the high side for both wine and serving sizes. If you are a foodie, come here for the the flavours, and just stick to a couple of beers.
M. S.
Can recommend the bircher part, delicious. Chai latte was a little weak but that's a personal preference thing. Excellent service from staff.
A. P.
Love the unique breakfast menu offerings, never a bad breakfast 😊
R. H.
Really cool, creative breakfast. Excellent service. Best coffee in Brisbane.
R. H.
The food was incredible. From the two snack, two entree and two main dishes that we shared, it was almost impossible to choose a favourite, they were all fantastic and very different. The wine list was sort but everything was interesting, we shared a bottle of water skin wine pictured below, it was divine. why have I not been here before?
H. M.
An incredible night with a set tasting menu that thrilled my partner and myself with unusual combinations of flavours that work wonderfully together, great wine pairings and cocktails (the old fashioned with wattleseed, macadamia and bitters was like butter-caramel fire) and fantastic staff. Our night was perfect from the moment we entered and this is some of the best food I have ever had. Their cuttlefish ginger toast was incredible, and I could eat their mushroom ice-cream dessert with artichokes and chocolate all day, but the smoked chilli, pumpkin puree and mandarin granita was also a stunner and that prawn gnocchetti bisque should have a place in every kitchen. An intimate warm space with wonderful, knowledgable, attentive and friendly staff. I look forward to returning.
G. B.
Very interesting place, small space, some share tables, not a big menu but food was cooked and presented superbly. It was visually stunning with some adventurous combinations, my daughter is vegan and they accommodated us with some delightful selections. The vegan tortellini was the best my daughter has ever eaten. Wine list was quite diverse with some great selections. Overall it was fantastic if not a little expensive.
K. W.
Still one of the best food and wine experiences in Brisbane. The kipfler potato’s are the reason to make money and eat at restaurants.
R. M.
We visited here for a late breakfast, drawn by the menu which looked a little 'different' The signage is tiny, so after initially walking past, we eventually found it. We were greeted in a very friendly manner, and offered an indoor our outdoor seat (we choose outdoor). The table service was extremely attentive and relatively friendly, we were well looked after and never left wanting for anything.
J. L.
I love this place. A hidden gem of fine dining, delicious fresh seasonal food served through an inventive and modern menu, fantastic wine selection and thoughtful efficient friendly staff. I can't get over how wonderful this place is, I find myself thinking about how great the dishes are for days after each visit! #obsessed
R. P.
My partner and I had a lovely time at Gauge. We visited on a Thursday evening and place wasn’t busy, which was nice. The English waiter was a delight and he spoke gently, but passionately when he described everything. We had the seven course vegan menu and it was the best food I’ve had in my life. In particular the chestnut pasta was amazing. Highly recommended!!
S. L.
A lovely relaxed breakfast place. Music in background and friendly staff. Coffee was hot and nice and strong. I had avo smash and Bircher my daughter remarked was full of fruit and tasty. A bacon sandwich was also consumed and was filling and tasty. So all round a group breakfast or a solo breakfast both equally catered for. I’d go back and it’s opposite Science Museum and has the dinosaur visible for the kids in the window whilst eating to look at. Good spot to fuel up before you go inside the museum.
B. V.
For anyone interested in experimental food and coffee, Gauge is the best Brisbane has to offer. Pure understated genius.
With an incredibly unassuming front that would be easy to miss if it wasn't the for intriguing architecture of the building that draws your gaze. Inside is a small but cozy, minimalist restaurant. Not a single detail was neglected in the design of this place.
The menu is small which is a good thing and it's well priced (almost cheap) given the offerings. It's quite an experimental menu with amazing dishes you just couldn't get anywhere else, with presentation to match.
The coffee isn't the main attraction although it easily could be. The equipment and the baristas on board manage to rival anything from Fonzie Abbott or even Ltd Espresso.

Very enjoyable breakfast, effortless booking and quality ingredients. Something about the flavours of the breakfast left me wanting, I couldn't put my finger on it though. The coffee was restaurant good, but wouldn't hold a candle to the care and attention given to the extraction process at Brisbane's best cafes. Nevertheless, I definitely would go again.
C. K.
Highly recommended
Best breakfast in Brisie, check out the soft eggs with added greens
Great service
Good coffee

First time visiting here after a recommendation from a work colleague. Prompt professional service and seated straight away. Coffee is sublime, expertly poured with a nice smooth taste and perfect temperature. The barista here knows what they're doing.
Meals were delivered in a very reasonable time, went for the soft eggs with bacon. Such a simple dish but done extremely well. Eggs were cooked spot on and the bacon had a nice amount of smokiness and was cooked well.
Prices were reasonable for the setting and quality. Will definitely be back.
S. L.
This is a while back so it might has changed. Ordered a black garlic bread and coffee. Asked a knife. The owner or manager looking guy said this bread is meant to have by using hand. Asked him, really? But i want a knife mate. Didn’t give me one. Awkward silence. Eye contact with the server. He looked confused too. The server gave me a knife. Bread and butter was good but better with a knife that i can use. Didnt go back ever since. Lol 😂
P. S.
A brilliant little place which serves a magnificent set menu. Gauge, simply put, manages to live up to the exacting standards of Haute Cuisine, with flair and affordability.
K. C.
Portion sizes for breakfast a bit underwhelming for the price. The waffle dish was pretty good though.

I'm torn.
It's very clear what gauge are trying to be but I just can't help feeling as though it falls short.
The opening course was an assortment of locally sourced seasonal veg. Very simple, very fresh, quite reminiscent of a few Copenhagen establishments which hold the philosophy of minimalist dishes which come straight from the paddock. That was accompanied by a grey... puree (sesame?) it was very salty.
The courses to follow were very well presented albeit some in ginormous bowls (are we still doing that?). Most dishes were simple, clean and refined. Nice. But they weren't interesting!
The main protein dish for the night was chicken thigh. Again, it was fine. But I would've appreciated a different meat. especially considering the price point.
As the night went on, I kept waiting to have my mind blown. That only occurred when I saw the bill.
Salt featured heavily in nearly every dish we had as well as an olive oil which lacked much flavour or mouth feel. And sadly, after ordering the "feed me" option, we walked out, well under-fed.
Don't get me wrong, the food is fine! But it's just that. I suppose I expected more bang for my buck.
I appreciated that most wines were not only Australian but also sourced from a wide range of regions. Selection was a little slim however, especially by the glass. Understandable I suppose when you consider the size of the place.
The wine list featured a number of biodynamic wines (whatever) and a few fresh labels to the wine game which is always great to see. The relentlessly over-hyped Unico Zelo makes an appearance as it seems to in a lot of Brisbane establishments.
All wines which we ordered by the glass were clean and sensible (albeit quite young) however there was a section of the list dedicated to orange wines - Something I'm yet to get my head around.
Don't let me stop you from visiting whatsoever. Maybe I'm a little harsh. A combination of price and a lack of pizzazz was the greatest let down. I'll give it a while before I'm back.
H. D.
One of the best cafes in Brisbane IMO. Coffee is great and food is amazing. I absolutely love their black garlic bread. I know some people don't think much of it, but i personally think it's quite delicious, especially with coffee. After all, we all taste things differently. All my meals here have been exceptional, from the breakfasts, to the beautiful fish lunch dishes!
Definitely give it a go. It's more expensive, but the quality is spot on👌
R.
The quality and presentation of the food are wonderful. The staff is adorable. This is a great place to start the day. In two we ordered a sourdough toast each with soft eggs and a variety of sides: avocado, green tomatoes with feta, octopus and pickes and special bacon. Perfect!
M. F.
Cool looking cafe with a bit of a hipster interior vibe.
Had breakfast, which was presented very well and had some interesting twists, but that didn’t exactly translate into great taste.
Coffee was very well done however.
M. H.
Ok. We have been following Guage take away menus for awhile and have been really impressed by the variety of offerings and dedication to provide daily variation. Many other fine dining places during covid restrictions offer excellent choices but not the variety that Guage does.
So we ordered the feed me five course meal on Friday night and were more than impressed. The best was the schezuan peeper panne cotta with fresh pinapple and black bean curd.
We will be ordering again and going there when they reopen.
B. J.
Food was perfect. Balanced and subtle. The service was amazing, friendly, helpful and attentive. Great to see someone doing creative things with breakfast, much appreciated 🙏. The hot chocolate was the best I have ever had 🙂
K. L.
Food is alright but a bit pricey for what's offered. Nice staff though.
S. K.
Marvelous dining experience. From the get-go the maitre d was attentive and engaged us on each course and glass of wine. The food is next-level creative. The team here clearly has a signature of it's own when it comes to using interesting ingredients in delicious ways. The tasting menu is a real treat.
Y. A.
We had a very good moment there until we had a card issue, and the waiter was still very nice we us and trust us when we told him that were coming back with cash. A very kind person, I've never seen that in my life even if I used to work in restaurants in France.
We'll definitely come back there ! Good job, god team. Thank you very much !
D. W.
Unfortunately didn’t live up to its reputation. Staff were interesting, knowledgeable and knew their stuff. First course was exquisite and variations on traditional wine styles interesting and worth trying. The kitchen let the team down with a lamb dish that wasn’t cooked (no matter how pink you like it) and the baked cauliflower lacked flavor given it was to have a chilli zing dressing.
When meals go back relatively untouched it means something, the obvious question was missed by the party clearing our table. Next time maybe?
R. J.
Really interest menu, and sleek interiors. Slightly odd location but close to the gallery. Crumpet Toast was a unique breakfast dish. Friendly service. Coffee is miserable. Maybe ok if you have milk, appears to be single origin, tastes singularly ordinary. Pity because clearly the chef has the mojo going on. Worth a visit if you’re nearby but get a coffee somewhere else.

GO FOR SOURDOUGH WAFFLES! ! I promise you will not regret it.
Staff are sensationally honest, yet friendly.
The atmosphere is so very fresh. This place really does redefine our Aussie obsession with Cafés.
The food is seriously top notch. I was surprised that it was so reasonably priced considering the location.
We headed here before our visit to GOMA as I really do not like the food on offer at the gallery. Great find on Grey Street that is definitely not grey. It's refreshing and honest.
I've been told to add that bacon and eggs on sourdough are awesome. The boyfriend was calling them Green Eggs and Ham because it was served with green sauce!
I will be back to try avo on toast with barley and lentil miso, macadamia and black lemon.... Decent vegetarian options which was surprisingly refreshing to find. I generally don't eat meat. I do eat it when served to me or no veg option available so I get very excited when the veg options sound sublime.
A. A.
5 stars for effort
3 stars for flavour - my good was overly overly salty and I didn’t like the flavour combinations
3 stars for decor it’s simple and modern and small but nice.
5 stars for food presentation
The menu was confusing . We all ordered off the menu and what we got was totally not what we would have envisioned. I think the menu description would of been better if it was more descriptive.
J. G.
If you're in to food, this place is for you. The menu is innovative; don't be put off by the unusual items. The blood tacos are amazing, as is the black garlic bread with burnt butter and vanilla. Staff were passionate, helpful and friendly. I note comments about inflexibility - that might be the price of sensational food.
M. C.
Undoubtedly a world class dining experience in Australia. The service is incredibly good. The food is stellar, innovative and exceptional!
I tried to find a thing to criticise about the food. Sorry i can't find anything to pick on.
I have been to Gauge twice, first time was not long after it was opened. 2nd time in June 2016. Service and quality is consistently good if not better.
I believe you get what you pay for. And this is worth it.
T. M.
A complicated 5 star score. Unconventional menu, unconventional wine list, a bit expensive. Don't come her for a relaxing meal. BUT... If you are after a fascinating night with texture just as important a component of the meal as flavour and colour, I think that you'll be intrigued. Glad we visited for our last night together in Brisvegas. N.B.: Parking sucks big-time - use public transport if you can.
P. T.
This little hole in the wall was little hard to find (because I get lost easily) but totally worth it. The food is amazing. The black garlic bread is an experience all on its own but we also had the line caught squid and the pork belly. All that food combined with two fantastic fresh juices, great service from Jerome and his staff and parting with less than $60 - this place is all win. We will be regulars.
M. V.
Nice little cafe in South Brisbane, simple small designed cafe and the food. WOW, I had the Soft Eggs with Greens and Dukkah, could have been one of the most simple yet greatest breakfasts I've ever had. Thank you Gauge Cafe, will surely return when in Brisbane again
M. F.
Spectacular, simply no words for how amazing this experience was. We came to Gauge for our 40th wedding anniversary and we're not disappointed. From our amazing waiter to the awe-inspiring food, you will not be disappointed.
M. D.
Really interesting take on modern Australian breakfast. Would highly recommend the char grilled steak and any of the juices! Definitely do not leave without trying their signature black garlic bread for dessert!
S. H. L.
Very unique dishes using local ingredients. Loved the wine pairing as well. Only downside is that it is hard to find parking due to its location.
J. C.
Great lunch, interesting and innovative flavour combinations very well executed. One of the best lunches I have enjoyed in recent times. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, a terrific dining experience.
S. S.
Favourite in Brisbane for coffee and breakfast 👏🏻
D. P.
This isn't your usual eggs only place for breakfast. Definitely try the garlic bread, you're in for a real treat. It's great to have something on a breakfast menu that really makes you think and challenge your taste buds (and an enjoyable way). The coffee is great too.
B. L.
Really geat food, service and venue. Didn't love the wine pairing but that might come down to personal taste.
J. H.
Great food and great service. Imaginative food that doesn't disappoint the palate
N. J.
Seriously seriously good! Two days later I am still thinking about the wonderful meal experience and can't wait till next time. Such a rare thrill to be surprised and delighted by a truly creative menu - and the service was fabulous too.
H. N.
we have been here multiple times for breakfast and dinners. Although the price is high, the quality of the meals is amazing. If you are looking for something a little different and out of the ordinary, i would definitely recommend coming here. not a family friendly place, but great for a date night.
J. D.
Black garlic bread = AMAZING! Recommend the pineapple too!
C. M.
I think this is a 4.5 star place, but I'll be generous and give it 5. The food was great, and there was an excellent wine selection. The service was good, but not perfect as it really depended on who was coming to our table.
M. H.
Great experience. Food brings a smile to your face. Lovely balanced flavours. Professional staff. Enjoyed matching wine with three course à la carte.
A. S.
The cafe has modern Australian cuisine and I love the black garlic bread, brown butter & burnt vanilla. Finding the cafe was a hard due to lack of signage. I personally find the cafe a little expensive but then the quantity is very generous.
S. R.
This place is amazing. Great food, great coffee. Service is always great. Recommend this to all my friends and family and strangers alike. My #1 place to eat breakfast in Brisbane.
A. K.
This is a great little place. The breakfast menu is very modern, but probably a bit too fancy if I'm honest; sometimes you just want the basics. Good coffee though!
l. v. m.
Always such a treat to go to Gauge, yesterday was amazing again. Still dreaming about the blue cheese dessert and the short rib with the caper leaves! The texture and flavour combinations they create here suprise me every time, plus they have a top selection of minimum intervention wines.
P. L.
Tasting menu was creative and delicious
E. D.
Great service. Staff were excellent. Had 2 courses each and neither of us enjoyed our choices. Food tried to be creative/molecular, but was bland at best and unenjoyable at worst. Won't return or recommend.
C. C.
Very hipster style restraunt. Very unusual twists on traditional brunch menu but quite yummy. Good coffee. Nice service
M. F.
Superb coffee and food, highly recommended!
A. G.
Cafe? What are people talking about? Best degustation ever and professional/proud relaxed atmosphere. You HAVE TO try the lamb tartare. Staff are lovely. Zero regrets. Amazing food. Seriously, do it.
O.
Food and atmosphere are great!
D. W.
I've been to a few Guage X events now - the Japanese one and Mexican one were unreal. Always a good evening out.
I. H.
After an exhilarating visit to the Robert MacPherson show at GOMA (go see it!), Sunday lunch at gauge was the perfect tonic. Inventive menu, amazing flavours, professional staff. Only downside was a musty glass of wine which I probably should have sent back (my bad). A welcome addition to Brisbane casual dining.
S. M. R.
Incredible! Ordered their crumpets with poached eggs thinking that it would be the usual home style cooking. Turns out that I receive this amazingly tastey work of art
A. Z.
Great food and wonderful service
N. Y.
Consistently great food! Thanks for the great meal!
T. M.
So good! Recommend the garlic bread.
T. K.
It is what it is advertised. Food is externally different than what most would be use to. If you are a food lover you should try here. Great service. Well priced for the type of venue.
M. M.
Ate from the lunch/dinner menu and each course was unreal. Roo tartare, mackerel with pistachio cream, black garlic bread... Service was on point too, as were the wines. I'll be back. Thanks guys.

Slightly unconventional breakfast with a good variety and good coffee. Tried the black garlic bread for breakfast and loved it. Service was great too
M. H.
Amazing food prepared and presented beautifully. Can only imagine the amount of creativity required. Wonderful service too.
S. A.
Great way to break up a day at the APT8, a beautiful lunch at Guage. The duck with beetroot, strawberry and a hint of aniseed was sensational. Cant wait to return for a go at the breakfast menu!
T. B.
I find myself returning here often. Only sushi bar in the area and its great. Prices are reasonable and food has never disappointed. The staff have always been friendly and accommodating
H. S.
Good food but over priced. A wine that retails for $23 is $65 on their wine list, and the lamb belly is three strips of lamb for $35.
T. F.
Something a bit different every time I've been there which is good. However, bring back the Wallaby Tartare please, that was awesome! :D.
D. W.
Bright, clean, friendly staff, and handy location. Coffee wasn't to my taste though. Not a fan of high acidity. But the freshness stood out nontheless
R. T.
Interesting menu that always changes.
Get the black bread with vanilla bean butter.
C. J.
Had lunch here and loved the the moment! The team was really well presented and has clearly familiarised the menu.

A must visit place for innovative food. A hidden gem. Don't tell anyone
D. C.
Really good food. Flavours were subtle with nothing overpowering on the dish. Seasoning was spot on on all dishes too
J. R.
Our most incredible diner in Australia. Everything was amazing, the duck, the beef ... precise and tasteful, THE place to go !
G. M.
committed to coffee in an urban setting. handy for afficionados who are at the BCCC or work nearby. good shade in summer. airy open cafe, nice staff and a good hand on the grinder.

(Translated) It seems to be a lot of brunch, but in the evening I enjoyed the Feed Me course.
I was sorry that I only had one course for 1 adult and 1 child,
Even though it wasn't very spacious, it was good to be considerate of sitting in the fourth person.
The wine was good and the food was very good.
The hotel is located on the South Bank side and has good access. The price is reasonable even though it is a two hat restaurant. (feed me 85pp)
(Original)
(feed me 85pp)

(Translated) The staff is very kind and will serve you with a smile.
Although the price is not cheap, it is very small.
It's nice to be simple, but it's not enough.

スタッフはとても親切で、笑顔で接客してくれます。
価格は安くない割に、とても少量。
シンプルなのは良いけれど、あまりにも物足りない。

(Translated) Original dishes, stylish and very tasty. The portion is rather small but the price is also rather low.
