Comments of Jumbo Thai
D. “.
Beautiful interior with lots of traditional artworks around, would say the ambiance is quite nice. Nice warm lighting; coupled with nice natural light. Menu was on the pricier side - was disappointed with the size of the Tom Yum Soup but the soup itself is sweet and light, not really sour and spicy like the usual ones that I’ve had before - different but not a bad thing. Fried rice with the banana prawns was quite good ($25), wasn’t a huge fan of the prawns itself, would have gotten the chicken one instead ($21). Pad Thai was good. Service staff were really friendly and approachable.

It's easy to see why this restaurant has great reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed every course including pea dumpling, curry puff, scallop, pad Thai and coconut ice-cream (absolutely delicious). The service was friendly and helpful, and the meals were delivered quickly without fuss. The menu is fairly large, and I'd love to go back to try more dishes.

It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing cocktails and delicious food! We will definitely come back again!

What an amazing experience. The place us beautiful and the food and cocktails even better!! I highly recommend you order the Pad Thai and duck spring rolls.
All the staff did a great job. Always willing to help. Great costumer service.

Amazing Thai food! Photos don’t do justice. Beautiful restaurant, good customer service and great vibe in general. We had cocktails and the following food:
Duck spring rolls
Soft shell crab bao buns
Salt and pepper calamari
Lamb massaman curry
Duck curry with lychee - signature dish
Crab fried rice
Jumbo Pad Thai
Everything was delicious 👌🏾

The foods are always delicious and nicely presented here. We also love the classy feel and the cozy atmosphere at the restaurant with beautiful flowers and amazing decorations 🥰

If you walked by this place, you would barely notice it, but once you see it, you instantly want to go. The tiny entranceway has a beautiful marble staircase leading upstairs to a well laid out and quiet and classy restaurant. Definitely a place you can go for a romantic dinner or a small group of friends or family.
The food was gorgeous to look at and had a taste to match. The staff were very attentive and very helpful with our dietary needs. There were a large amount of gluten free options to choose from.
I think this will be our new place to meet up with friends.
Edit: came here again, and it's even better than last time.

Amazing Thai food! You will not be disappointed. I live in Melbourne, and have enjoyed Thai food in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne - but other than in Thailand this was the most flavourful and delicious! Betel leaf, scallops, green curry beef cheeks & eggplant, and the test of all Thai restaurants - Pad Thai - all INCREDIBLE! Funky music, attentive professional staff, and great drinks offering. Make sure you don't miss out if in Brisbane!
A. L.
Top quality Thai restaurant! BEST in town! Every dish we ordered was unbeatable.
Salted egg yolk pawpaw salad and Morton Bay Bugs salad is a must try!
Green curry Beef cheeks meat is tender enough not to chew the meat. Roti is the best matching side to go with the curry.
Authentic Tom Yum soup would make you feel like you’re in Thailand.
Pad See Ew is definitely recommended.
Soft shell crab bun is immaculate! One is not enough!
Strip loin dish was demolished within second when hitting the table.
Roast duck red curry is outstanding with a refreshing lychee and pineapple flavour to complete the taste.
Strongly recommend to diners searching for Thai restaurants around inner city area.
You’ll regret if you don’t try Jumbo!

So think of a five star Thai restaurant, and this place just takes it to the next level. The food is honestly next level awesome. Classic entrees such as Satay Chicken Sticks, Curry Puffs and Roast Duck Spring Rolls served alongside more unusual fare such as Scallops and fried Fish Wings. The curries present well and genuinely include some extra rich ingredients that make for truely special fare. If you like Thai food, this is the place to go.

Have eaten at Jumbo Thai last night and I really enjoyed it. The food is really flavorful, I order the fish wings as a recommendation from the manager and I wasn’t sure what to expect but I actually was pleasantly surprised and the taste of the sauce was delicious. I really like that you can order the appetizers per piece, so if you wanted to you could come with a group of friends and sort of order one of everything and get more of a taste. The mains are big, definitely meant for sharing. So don’t order too much if you are just a small group of people. But they are delicious. The meat used in curries is so soft and tender. The crab fried rice is a hit and the portion is big. The prices are justified by the large portion sizes. Great place to stop in for lunch and dinner in a convenient location close to the city. I’m on holidays here and have eaten here 4 times already. Great job.

The food at Jumbo is fabulous, sadly the wait staff fail in simple basic customer service. We were constantly having to ask for drinks 15 minutes after ordering all the while the bartender was standing around doing nothing. There were only 4 other, small tables, with patrons. So the staff were hardly run off their feet. This is the second time we've received the same luck lustre level of service - out of only two visits. We will give it one more go, only for the tasty food, but if the service doesn't improve we won't be back. Come on guys lift you're act because the service is the thing letting you down!
S. D.
Fried rice was really good. Pad Thai was a bit of a let down. But overall the food was pretty good.

We stopped for a late lunch at Jumbo. Although it was almost kitchen closing time, they were happy to accomodate us as long as we ordered within minutes from walking in. A beautifully decorated restaurant. We loved every bite of the food we ordered. We lived in Thailand as expats and we are used to authentic Thai food. At Jumbo, we were impressed by our mains and by the nice presentation of the entrees. It was a lovely culinary experience.
N. R.
Loved the food.
The guy who seems to be the manager there is very welcoming
J. B.
We had a party of 10. All had wonderful food. It was superbly cooked and presented. It was fresh with lovely vegetables and a unique variety of food and covered our dietary requirements. The staff are courteous and helpful. We will return.

BETTER Than Some GourmetThai Restaurants in 5 Star Hotels in Bangkok!!
My wife & I enjoyed our second lunch at Jumbo Thai with two "foodie" friends recently, and the four of us agreed it was some of the best Thai food we had ever eaten (our friends were with us in Bangkok in March 2019, when we ate at a few outstanding Thai restaurants).
We shared two starters: Steamed thai dim sim w diced prawn, salmon roe & served with light ginger & crisp-fried shallots; and Five spice pulled duck spring rolls w purple cabbage & sweet corn.
Followed by three main courses: Green curry w braised Angus beef cheeks & char-grilled eggplant; Crispy pork belly vegetable stir-fry w Thai basil, garlic & chilli paste; and Jumbo Pad Thai w tamarind sauce, chicken, king prawn & garlic chives.
Every single dish was outstanding...cooked to perfection, and full of authentic Thai flavours. To my wife's & my pleasant surprise, the green curry had tiny, crunchy Thai eggplants (similar to wasabi peas), something we have only ever seen when dining at Thai restaurants in Thailand (a country we have visited over forty times since our first trip there in 1991).
Service was welcoming, friendly, and helpful; attentive without being intrusive.
By Thai restaurant standards the wine list is quite extensive, and has several bottles which provide outstanding value for money. But, this is not your "standard" Thai restaurant!
Though not "cheap eats", for the quality and authenticity of the dishes Jumbo Thai serves from their kitchen, I believe they deliver an exceptional dining experience for the prices they charge.
My wife & I look forward to enjoying many more lunches (as well as some dinners) at Jumbo Thai, along with our family and friends.
Do yourself a flavour, and dine at Jumbo Thai...!
J.
I have dined here on 2 occasions and both times the food and cocktails were amazing. Would definitely recommend. The best Thai food in Brisbane! Also lots of great vegan options.
A. R.
Outstanding meal at this wonderful restaurant. Team were very welcoming and it was very clean. Probably the cleanest toilets in the city.
Entrees were presented well and the mains were delicious. The salad in particular was so fresh and tasty.
Beautiful fit out in very comfortable surrounds...all in all a great experience.
C. R.
Best Thai restaurant in Brisbane.
Excellent fast and friendly service. Unique twists on classic cocktails. The food came out at the perfect pace, our table was never empty. As we finished one dish the next one was being placed down moments later freshly cooked.
G. K.
Entrees were so delicious. Our main ‘pad Thai’ was a bit of a let down though. Was really dry and not flavourful and far from the best pad Thai I’ve ever had which was disappointing.
Friendly staff. Overall nice experience
N. B.
There was a good variety of gluten free dishes to choose from, and the food was delicious. The venue itself is nicely appointed and the staff was lovely also. I'll go again.
M. M.
Great food! The vegetables are fresh and crisp, and the vegetarian dishes just as good as the meat dishes. Spring rolls are amazing!
A. D.
Delicious food with great depth of flavour. Very generous servings. We had the Pad See Ew and Lamb Shank Massaman curry.
F. A.
Wow Brisbane has an explosion of upscale Thai restaurants in our beautiful city recently and in great convenient locations like in the Brisbane Quarter precinct and now at Embassy Chamber’s location.
Jumbo Thai has only been open for roughly 2 weeks and l can now see what all the huge fuss is about. The moment you walk in you know your in for a treat. The staff here are so beautiful and humble and really go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable.
The interior décor itself is what l loved the most. Was totally memorised by all the beautiful Thai artwork and murals. Everything was so aesthetically pleasing and l also found the food to be very pleasing too. Lots of flavour and perfectly spiced too. I love that my Tom Yum Soup was Thai hot and l didn’t even have to request that level of spice. Very generous portion size and full of amazing seafood. Definitely worth a try!

I’ve tried this restaurant out twice now. The food has a very similar concept to Longtime. There’s a lot of elements going on in each dish, so it’s either you’ll love it or hate it. It’s definitely not bland. Some dishes were better than others but they were all beautifully plated. The decor and service is exceptional. I’d definitely come back.
V. C.
Excellent food, ambience and service. 5 star!
W. J.
Top-notch.
It was our Pleasure to Dine with Jumbo Thai. Tracey and I enjoyed ourselves.
Thankyou.
M. A.
Good food, but average service….booked this restaurant for our anniversary…made a reservation for 7.30pm…arrived at 7.30pm, only to have the people who had not made a reservation seated and served before us…sat for 10 minutes…then were seated without a menu for another 10 minutes…20 minutes later getting pretty hungry…we finally made our order….to be advised one dish was unavailable….but they still charged us for it on the bill…also made a mistake on our order…must say though that your staff were very friendly, but maybe some additional training for new staff would be useful….also it always helps to seat people with a menu…rather then have them wait for 10 mins with nothing to do…
R. L.
Menu had a very nice selection of authentic Thai food. The lunch special menu (see note at the end) was around $17 each which is still pricier than similar lunch options in the CBD, so unfortunately this isn't going to be a daily lunch venue for me (when there are options like Singapore & Co, Pochana etc.). Ambience was nice and wait staff are friendly and attentive.
Being the first time here, I thought I'd have an entrée as well and went for the betel leaves (with smoked trout/salmon and ikura) ($16) from the main menu as an entrée and it was delicious. Also ordered the khao soi (flat noodles in curry sauce with beef) which you don't see often here and it had a nice kick to it. The beef practically melted on the fork.
Only thoughts for improvement would be that it would be nice if the betel leaves dish came with a hot towel, as even if you were really careful, you'll get sticky sauce on your fingers which doesn't wipe off with a dry napkin.
On the whole, a nice experience- can recommend.
*Edit: I've been back a couple of times since, and there isn't a lunchtime special menu anymore. Mains are good (the tom yum soup was quite impressive, the pad thai was a very ordinary), but for me, unaffordable as a work lunch option. They do have staff in the street who occasionally distribute flyers about an occasional single dish which is on special, but office workers in town often decide where they're eating before they go there and won't tend to go to a place to see if there's a lunch special just on that specific day.

Absolutely cracking new Thai restaurant!
Amazing food. Fantastic cocktail selection. Great staff and excellent host.
Soft Shell Crab Bao and spiced crickets are a must try!
D. V.
Very nice food. Bit of a rip off with regard to wine prices and amount poured in glass though. Entrees were definitely the best part
P. F.
Very good food and large portion sizes. It certainly is quite expensive and you're paying for the quality. Good for a special occasion.

Delicious Thai food. I’d recommend the butterfly pea dumplings! One mouthful and a punch of flavour! Me and my family love this place!

We had a great time at Jumbo last night celebrating a special occasion. There is a relaxed ambiance, but it's still quite lively. Decor is gorgeous too.
Our food was cooked perfectly on all accounts (Entrees, main and dessert), although keep in mind because they make it all fresh on ordering, it does take time to arrive. I also have to give compliments to our waitress Donna. She was so welcoming & friendly, gave us great recommendations, and was quite knowledgeable on the ingredients. I would recommend trying Jumbo at least once!
M. B.
Loved our dinner at Jumbo Thai last night! We took a group of friends out for dinner and we were treated to having the private function room all too ouselves! The banquet was amazing! So much food, so tasty, authentic Thai flavours - Panang Curry was perfect! and the new cocktails were divine! I loved the Gin Garden. Wasana and Andrew have created an amazing restaurant and their staff were so attentive! A huge 5 stars from us!!! Thanks guys we'll definitely be back!
J. H.
Quite pricy but it was worth the great food and pleasant atmosphere. Staff were not responding promptly and we had to wave for quite a while.
C. L.
Second time here and definitely not the last. High quality food with excellent table staff. Will be back for sure!
O. A.
Great taste Thai food with nice ambience. Can’t miss to have Beef Green curry here!
The staff is really friendly and helpful
Highly recommended
P. K.
Great food and service. Loved the ambiance and look forward to many more shared delightful meals👌🏾🌟

My most loved Thai restaurant in Brisbane. Me and my wife love thai food and we come here very often after work, if we don't feel like to cook. 40 or 50 times maybe during the past two years. In my recent visits, I realised that we are getting smaller proportion for the main dishes, and I can see a significant difference even comparing to few months ago. The stir fry wagyu with beans is one of my must-order dishes, but we are getting almost 30-40% less than what we had before. Am I the only one who has got such a big appetite?
A. R.
Best Thai restaurant in Brisbane!
K. N.
Arrived at around 6.30 pm for dinner. With only a handful of guests we thought we would be able to eat and leave reasonably early. The staff were nice and showed us to our table. Within minutes after being seated, we were offered water. After that we had to call a staff member over to order our drinks, one entree each and our main meal. We received our drinks quickly and the entrees within 10 minutes of ordering, so you would assume that dinner would be served not long after the entree. This was not the case. We waited over half an hour for our main, and at that point we were ready to leave. I would probably expect to wait no more than 20 minutes for a meal on a busy night but it wasn’t anywhere near busy. During that time, not one staff member come over to check that everything was ok. I actually had to call a staff member over again and inquire as to where our mains were. The staff member didn’t even smile or show any concern. Within 5 minutes, our meals were on the table. No apology from the staff for the stuff up that had obviously occurred. So waiting close to 45 minutes for a simple dish is not acceptable.
The food was nice but the service from the floor staff definitely lets this venue down.
P. B.
Delicious food and very polite wait staff, great atmosphere... my only feedback is that there are limited options for young kids.
J. B.
My favourite restaurant in Brisbane! The staff are so helpful, the cocktails are to die for (love both the new and the old selection) and the food is delicious. My favourites are the Pad Kee Mao (beware if you don't like spicy food, though) and the Crab Baos are a must. Can't wait to celebrate my birthday here!
a. m.
This is definitely the best Thai restaurant in CBD. Sand crab yellow curry is a must to try.
P. N.
Food is amazing with fresh ingredients. 100% recommended :)
K. K.
Went here for a Christmas Team Lunch today and the food was absolutely delicious! The staff were very helpful and very friendly. We had the $40.00 lunch special banquet able I had the Summer Marita cocktail which was a very citrusy sweet cocktail and quite nice and refreshing. The 40 dollar banquet was well worth the money, there were quite a lot of delicious appetizers to try, and the main was Pork Belly Stir-fry (it melted in your mouth!), a Chicken Panang and Morning Glory greens as a main to share.
Overall the Jumbo Thai Restaurant is well worth the price and really delicious! Will definitely be coming here again!
H. S.
A very good thai restaurant, and this one is from my 2nd visit. This places serves authentic flavours and has great options.
If you love the quality food, this is the place. We ordered green curry, fried rice and pad thai noodles which really had unique flavours to it. The wait staff was very prompt, polite and welcoming. The ambience and decor of the restaurant was good. The only thing is wait time, if its busy then you may have to wait for a bit for dishes to come out.
Handy tip- make a reservation before you go as on busy days walk-ins might not get a place.
M. W.
Neat Thai restaurant tucked away up a marble staircase. We all enjoyed our meals and the service.
D. W.
Just went there for lunch to celebrate my friends birthday. The food was delicious, and the services was the best. I accidentally broke my friends cocktail glass, the drink went everyone. I was so embarrassed. The bar guy was very nice to me, he quickly cleaned up the table and also replacced a new drink for my friend. Such a lovely person, not only good looking😉. Will definitely come back again.
J. Z.
Wonderful place and wonderful taste! Really like the Tom yum soup here! Recommend to try!
A. G.
Nancy is the bestest server. Great place to have Thai.
c. W.
Nice food, price good as well ❤ staff are good. Very nice ambiance 🤗. Highly recommended 💝

We adore this restaurant! Soon after we moved to Brisbane we happened upon it after watching a movie at the Elizabeth theatre. It is beautifully designed and decorated with a spirited JUMBO mural feeding children on one wall. The staff is attentive and polite and the food is outstanding--the cocktails, pea filled dumplings, curries, and pad Thais. The whole experience is superior.
G. B.
Dined in Jumbo on Friday with my wife as we have been here a couple of times now. Always Excellent food and Irish lass Leon just makes the whole experience so enjoyable every time she can’t do enough for us. Great venue Great food Great service. See you soon
B. K.
Superb food. Our first time here. Loved every dish.
c. T.
My friend and I ate here for the first time today and it won't be the last. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere and decor, the staff are so friendly and the service is great. Our main course was wonderful and so large and the desert was to die for. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone it is truly amazing. I am looking forward to my next visit.
T. N.
Beautiful and flavourful Thai fusion dishes with really high quality ingredients. Had the betel leaves with smoked trout and roe, grilled scallops with finger lime, the pad see ew with pork and basil and chili chicken with rice. Really delicious!
Service was also excellent and we absolutely love the decor and vibe of the restaurant especially the bar/high seating facing the street. Can't wait to come back and try other dishes :)
o. a.
We had a wonderful night at Jumbo. The staff were so friendly and helpful and patient with one difficult guest at our table.
the open kitchen is impressive with the Chefs wearing their striking black uniforms.
The ambience is relaxing and the background music is good and not too loud.
Try the Locally grown betel leaf parcels of smoked trout, salted coconut caramel sauce & salmon roe for a flavour explosion.
The drinks menu is expansive, my only suggestion would be more wines available by the glass.
Thanks for a superb night!
B. P.
The food are delicious, and the staff are friendly. Nice and clean restaurant. Its on the level 1 and a bit hard to find as you have to enter through a small door and use the lift or staircase.
I. T.
Best eatery in Brisbane. Best service and food you can find.
M.
Hidden above a white marble stairwell is this marvellously elegant Thai restaurant. Beautifully decorated with thoughtful details in every quarter, every element echoes of an ethos of charm, sophistication and exception.
The Euro-Pan Asian decor filled with captivating artwork is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets below.
A well thought out menu filled with creatively curated Thai dishes to tantalise the senses is accompanied by an extensive drinks selection.
As for the meal, I was swept away by the flavours, freshness and intricate details of every dish we ordered. Fresh market ingredients, generously laden portions, delicate juicy mouthfuls of scallops, squid, prawns, melt-in-your-mouth lamb... it was all simply... heavenly.
Jumbo Thai is the type of restaurant you’ll be proud to bring your date, celebrate your anniversary, and honour your business associates.
I can’t wait to return again.
B. M.
Service was ok. Entrees were great (scallops and soft shell crab). Main courses were average. Massaman didn’t come with sweet potato as described on menu and when questioned there was no apology or remedy. Prawn stir fry was ok, lacking flavour. Massaman was also lukewarm.
R. M.
Hands down the best Thai food I've had! We were made to feel very welcome even though our group was a 'walk-in'. All the staff were happy and smiling, the service was excellent and the food was delicious.
K. D.
I booked Jumbo Thai after reading lots of positive reviews. Dinner for 6 to celebrate a 40th birthday. Food was sensational and it is beautifully appointed restaurant but service was really disappointing. Had contacted them in the earlier week to advise the purpose of our visit.
First we were told we could not decorate the table as it would wreck the table! I thought the waiter was joking at first but alas he was serious!! Food was taken off the table before we had finished eating. A pet hate of mine.
I had emailed prior to our reservation to see if we could bring a cake to celebrate or if they could prepare a special dessert with candle. A dessert with candle was promised but sadly we never saw the dessert or even offered a dessert menu :(. Seems they could not get us out of the place fast enough so they could close for the night (10pm on a Saturday night). We chose a CBD restaurant as was thinking it would be open late, especially taking into account it is bar as well.
Overall disappointing. Would return for the food but service needs huge improvement and would not trust them with a special occasion again.
C. G.
Eaten lunch here twice with work people, both times exceptional. First time was a small group, so we ordered a la carte. We had the soft shell bao, spring rolls, Cape Grim striploin, the Jumbo pad thai (HUGE prawn on it!) and the confit duck maryland salad. Quality was damn fine, even if I wasn't mad about the bao and service was prompt, especially considering it was lunchtime on a Friday. Second time was with a larger group, so we had the express banquet of spring rolls, grilled pork skewers, beef penang curry, grilled, butterflied chicken, greens and rice. The pork sticks were the highlight - excellent marinade & dipping sauce. Service left a bit to be desired but we were one of three massive banquet tables in for (again) lunchtime on a Friday. The staff were still very attentive though.
Pretty decent price point for the location and quality as well. Absolutely recommend.
A. T.
Great food, large portions, friendly service. Definitely recommend.
T. C.
Absolutly amazing food. Best thai experience in Brisbane. Staff were attentive and nice. Food was so impressive. Best Pad See Ew, Northern Thai curry, wagu beef curry puffs, and duck spring roll we have ever had. The flavors in the Northern curry continued to develop as we ate.
Will be back for sure. Very impressed!!!!!! Actually the best restaurant in Brisbane we have been too.
R. G.
Went there by chance. Excellent food and very attentive staff. Highly recommended.
b. H.
Saw an add for Jumbo Thai at the Elizabeth st movie theatre. Quality clean fresh tasty Thai. Great staff. Jumbo was a highlight of our visit to Brisbane.
T. M.
Gorgeous setting for a fantastic Thai feast. We started with the flower crab dumplings, betel leaf with smoked trout and fresh oysters. Plenty of exotic cocktails to sample, we tried a few but the winner was Full Moon Fiz hands down.
Our hostesses Paddy was warm and energetic. For our mains we had the banana blossom salad, amazing texture and paired well with prawns and soft boiled egg. Yellow crab curry was divine. All meat no shell! Great for a lazy eater like us! By this time we were so full but managed another dish of morning glory greens. Yummo!
Will be back for more soon ❤
T. C.
Food was good. Very tasty. Service, while friendly, was a bit slow.
Z. B.
My husband & I dined here for the 1st time tonight. We will definitely be coming here again!
The service was great, really friendly and quick.
The food was outstanding! The crispy Snapper was amazing!
YUM!

Went here for the first time on Saturday with a large group. The food was fantastic (the green curry was particularly good), wait staff were attentive without being overbearing, and there was a solid selection of beers. Would definitely recommend.
W. S.
Genuinely cannot fault a single thing. Got the banquet for lunch. Just fantastic! Service was great. Some of the nicest (little bit fancy) thai I've had.
Y. R. Y.
Very impressed!! Huge portion sizes for a fine dining restaurant. Was not expecting at all :D flavour and presentation are outstanding too, plus great service. All round 5 stars and will be back soon

Nice spot overlooking Edward St, everything bright and new. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Khao Soi noodles were delicious, with lots of vibrant coconut broth, slow cooked beef cheeks and fried noodles.
A. B.
A very nice upper class fine dining Thai restraunt in the middle of the Brisbane CBD. Perfect for romantic couples or anyone looking for a special place to eat.
C. B.
The best food with the best staff! We had the most authentic Thai meal here. Will definitely be back! Thank you Jumbo Thai team
