We were on a work Christmas party last night and had a great time. I have to mention all staff on board, managers, bartenders, DJ etc. ran the show amazingly. They were so helpful, friendly and served with a smile. Beautiful city views at night. Food can be better but I'm happy that there were lots of vegetarian options. The cocktails are amazing. Must try.

Review of: Brisbane River Lunchtime Cruise We are from SA visiting our daughter in Brisbane. We had a wonderful time on the river cruise. Our daughter booked online. The website was easy to navigate. We took advantage of the discounted parking, which made the journey worry free. From the time we arrived to wait for boarding, our time on the boat and to disembarking, customer service and interactions with all the staff was excellent. They were happy & friendly and this definitely contributed to our experience. The entertainment was great, the boat was decorated beautifully with Christmas tree, decorations and fairy lights etc. The boat was spacious, which made it easy to move about. The facilities were clean. The food was delicious, lots of choice to cater to different tastes and there was plenty to eat. We had a window seat on the 2nd level, perfect spot to observe the scenery along the cruise route, including city views, bridges, parks etc, which also presented great photo opportunities, it was lovely. The roof top deck provided another option of enjoying the scenic views. The cruise was definitely one of the highlights of our visit. When we visit again, we would like to try the dinner cruise. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thought it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon and enjoy the Brisbane sights on the water. We would highly recommend the experience.

Christmas lunch experience was wonderfully relaxing with the trip on the river allowing to fully see Brisbane from a different perspective. The KQ1 is old and could do with and interior refurbish. The Christmas lunch buffet had great variety and just good, average food. The desserts definitely amazing. The cocktails not the best.

Had the pleasure of a date for one, on board the Kookaburra Queen for a lunch buffet cruise. All the staff were friendly and inviting. The boarding and seating system flowed well being guided to the upper deck. With 360 degree views and spotless windows, the cruise down to Southbank and back up past the story bridge, around and back again was spectacular - plus it was a magical day. A quick trip up to the roof top deck was the perfect opportunity to bask in the sun. Table service was provided with drinks easily accessible. The buffet lunch was varied and with great choices. I’m really looking forward to coming back in a couple of weeks for the dinner cruise.

How cool and fun this was! Let me start by saying my daughter had wanted to go in this for some time. We live in the Gold Coast so I surprised her with a weekend stay in Brisbane, as she was due for surgery on the following Monday. As part of her surprise weekend I booked the lunch cruise for us. Well her eyes lit up and she was one very happy girl. When booking online I explained it was a surprise and why. When we boarded we were so blown away by the most perfect table in the best spot on the boat. We both felt very special but most of all my daughter had the biggest smile on her face and for that moment forgot about her upcoming surgery. The cruise was spot on. The staff were all just so friendly and professional which was so pleasing to see. The buffet was well prepared and the portions were fantastic. The dessert selection was outstanding and again of a high quality, so much so my daughter went back for seconds! Brisbane city is so gorgeous to see from the river and this was the perfect way to see the city, spend time with my daughter and to forget about her upcoming surgery. This is a must do if you are looking for a fun and relaxing time. Thankyou to everyone for making our day so memorable, we will definitely be back.

Absolutely amazing. From the service to the food, this has to be a MUST DO when coming for a Brisbane outing. Matt and Curtis (hosts) make sure it is an enjoyable day for all. This cruise gave me and my family a beautiful outlook on Brisbane that you wouldn’t see from the shore. Must go up top to witness the story bridge from bellow and to also get to steer the boat yourself. A oldie but a goodie with its old structure making this feeling memorable for all. Wide variety of food and drinks with culture and bliss is every bite. This was the best way to spend my 16th Birthday.

We were shown to our seats, then waited for ages to place a drinks order. The air conditioning was not working and the host treated it like a none issue its December 18 so yeah not impressed. There was no cold water served, only tap water. Drinks took about 15 to 20 minutes to arrive. These went down fast due to the heat from a packed boat. They should have shouted a round of free drinks or the very least put jugs of cold water on the table. Wait staff would not supply double orders and some staff would not take drinks orders at all but were delivering drinks. My daughter who manages a sports bar left a bottle of wine on the table with one full glass of wine still in the bottle, she returned to find the bottle gone. When she questioned the wait they claimed it was empty. Nil care or concern by the waiter or a replacement glass. I only gave 3 stars as the good was good. More concerned about making money than providing service.

This was my fifth cruise, and as usual the service was wonderful (Saskia) and we had a very relaxing afternoon. The food was delicious and filling. We were originally booked on a nighttime cruise which was cancelled due to unexpected circumstances, so hope to do that one day (night). The boarding and booking process is very easy and I highly recommend these cruises to anyone looking for a leisurely way to spend a few hours.

This was a great dinner cruise. Absolutely loved the restaurant manager who made the trip fun. It was buffet, covid styles, but it was super quick to get thru. The selecrion of food was amazing. Really enjoyed the meal. Would absolutely do it again. Good memories and some great photos. Only thing is i am not sure I would pay for the guaranteed window seat next time.

Visited the Kookaburra Queen for my partners birthday and I was not disappointed. The meals were fantastic and considering that we had special needs we were well catered for. Where to start? Curtis and his team go above and beyond to ensure diner's have the best experience possible. Super friendly and professional, the servers always to your table as quickly as possible. The ship is a wonderful cruise up and down the river with barely a wake to spill your drink. We could hardly notice that we were even moving, aside from the splashing of the paddles in the water. The food was delicious, well done chefs, the beef slow cooked to perfection, and the Barramundi was divine. In all, we could only ever highly recommend the K.Q. to anyone in earshot. Well done Curtis, please pass on our thanks and gratitude to the crew for a wonderful cruise.

My Boyfriend and I did the dinner cruise for our 3 month anniversary (I know small anniversary) but it was so breath taking and so romantic. We had the best time as we were treated like movie stars from the staff, (Matt, Curtis, Vladimir, Gloria and Jack) and argued about what dish was the best, P.S. it was all mouth watering but my favourite was the pork. Threw out the cruise we always had a cocktail in our hand, as we admired the city light on the observation deck and had a laugh with the captain. 100% would recommend to anyone! Kookaburra River Queen is a place to brag about, with mouth water food, spectacular city views and the most friendly staff. It’s a place where you can relax, drink, eat and admire Brisbane from a unique point of view. If you ever want to see Brisbane from a new angle I would highly recommend cruising with them.

Wow! This is all I can say! Such a wonderful birthday treat from my beautiful wife! I have noted that people (previous reviewers) have stated that they are expensive....absolutely not true! My birthday cruise was $99 each for 3 hours of luxury, service, views and fun! The buffet meal was excellent....the beers (included with the price) were great, the entertainer was incredible, the voyage was blissful and the views were wonderful. For $99 each you get A LOT! And they have a tiered pricing approach if you want a little cheaper, you can go on a Thursday or Friday. I cannot state enough that people need to get onto the Kookaburra Queen and have this experience....I know we will be again!

The Bribane River is so spectacular from the Koolaburra and the wine list and drinks were on point. The captain welcomed us aboard and the hostess and staff were so friendly. Review of the lunchtime Kookaburra Queen Cruise, We were part of a Christmas Party of more that 50 people, there were 100 people on board. Good points, 1. food was good everyone at our table enjoyed their meals whether it was seafood or roasts, 2. plenty of staff to keep the bar drinks going, 3. Staff very friendly and helpful. DISSAPOINTING, even though the website said no air conditioning I was not expecting no windows, 1. IT WAS A SAUNA, 2. One bill per table ???? there were 5 groups on our table, some drinkers some non drinkers, you should invest in mobile eftpos machines, pay before receipt. 3. The Little things matter, the table water was hot, not acceptable, hot room with hot water to drink. I could not recommend this cruise in Queensland Summer.

This was not my first time cruising with Kookaburra Showboat Cruises, and it absolutely will not be the last! I’ve enjoyed past cruises I have been on, (this was my third time aboard) but this time was another level in a very, very good way. My friends and I wanted to have an “early” Christmas get together but wanted to do something fun and different. I suggested a lunch cruise on the Kookaburra River Queen, and I’m so glad I did. First of all the drinks service. I have been on board before when drinks have been a little slow to get to you, but not this time. We waited no more than 5 minutes for our drinks (and I will mention we were a table of 17) and as soon as our lovely wait person (Vladimir) saw we were even running low, he was very quick to take our next order and promptly deliver our next round. I’ve waited for up to 40 minutes at some venues for a cocktail, so to have our drinks delivered so quickly was brilliant. The new buffet menu was such a nice surprise! I had no idea the menu had changed, and as someone who likes to try new restaurants, I can honestly say the food was delicious (the slow cooked beef, and chicken tagine were my personal favourites). The on board photographer was quick to usher us to the observations deck to ensure we got a lovely photo of us all with the Story Bridge as our backdrop. It’s not often you can get all your good friends in one place (let alone remember to get a photo together) and now we have a photo with all of us in it. This was also just another special touch that we greatly appreciated. I watched as the operations manager visited every single table, multiple times throughout the cruise to ensure all guests on board were having a good time (our table obviously included). This impressed me greatly, as it’s not that often you see the manager even present, let alone taking the time to have a chat with every single patron. Thank you to Matt, Curtis, and Vladimir for making our cruise so special. The hospitality we experienced as a very large group was honestly second to none. We’ve already decided to make this an annual event, so we can’t wait to see you again next year! Thanks again, Kookaburra Showboat Cruises for an absolutely stellar experience.

It was my daughters 11th bday, and first time on the boat. We had an amazing time! We were given amazing seats and the entertainment sung her happy birthday. We were unaware of the children's platter as it arrived (a nice surprise!). Lewis was fantastic as the cruise director and arranged a special drink for her, as well as permission for us to go and speak to the captain and take a photo with the wheel. One waitress really stood out (Lily). She was delightful and friendly and went above and beyond. The food was lovely (but would have liked to have seen healthier options ... eg, no green veges anywhere, a vegetarian option (even just one, a frittata perhaps), and sauces to go with the meats (eg...the ham). But truly that is just nitpicking, it was wonderful. Would definitely recommend and return.

Father’s Day 2021 - booked as a surprise for my wife’s father. What a well oiled machine (and the paddle boat also). All exceptionally orderly and disciplined with passengers who all wore their masks and maintained their distance. And app check-in was routine. Once on board was shown to our allocated table and drinks order taken - repeatedly …… Chatted to the new major-domo, an amusing and extremely knowledgeable man on ‘high end’ style events both aboard and the wider Brisbane CBD. We were easily convinced we should return for an “events” cruise on the Brisbane River - pending ….. just waiting to confirm our Christmas visitors. Ship’s Captain, an equally amusing gentleman- who leads from the front. Highly involved with the safety briefing, alternating his presence on each deck. Good to see. The waiting-on staff were amazing. The chefs superb and the food exquisite! Buffet style with tables called by major-domo and all unhurried. Both hot and cold along with a wide ranging menu to match the wide ranging Wine & Cocktails list. Great event with dads presented with Kookaburra engraved glass tankards. Don’t wait until next Father’s Day, get booked now. You will enjoy a gentle cruise, seeing the sights and listening to a Barber Shop jazz quartet. Best value for money fun event that you need to try. Took a lunch cruise and would go back any time. Staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the Brisbane river was at its finest with blue skies, sunshine and jacarandas in bloom.

What a great time was had by all. The boat takes a lot of people yet feels casual and relaxed. Though it doesn't have an Aircon, well placed fans and open windows keep it comfortable. The staff are cheerful and helpful. The food Fabulous and plenty of it and a table at a time are allocated so no rush. The jazz trio are both talented and fun, it was our 35th wedding anniversary and we were serenaded .The trio make their way around the tables and if you're celebrating something, they're happy to play a short tune at your request. The river sights are lovely and the 2 1/2 hours passes pleasantly. A good price for a great afternoon out.

Amazing!!!! It was honestly the perfect experience and worth every penny!!! I understand why some of the ratings are bad due to missing AC but we got lucky, it was 30 Celcius only and absolutely wonderful! The music, the food, the atmosphere! Upgrade of music amplification is so overdue below main deck as the live singer voice over was very difficult to enjoy because sound output was drummy with no treble at all evident. Gorgeous showboat with impressive food, a full bar and family friendly entertainment. I've been on the Twilight Cruise once and lunchtime cruise twice, celebrating two anniversaries and a work function. Always had a great time, staff have always been lovely and accommodating, food is impressive and exceeded my expectations. They operate a buffet serving table by table for your first serving, then help yourself for consecutive servings. Drinks are moderately expensive but not excessively so; I strongly recommend buying drink token packs from the ticket office *before boarding* if you plan to drink, as they're better value. Great views of Brisbane city, several landmarks and suburbs. Fun light hearted commentary provided, with some interesting facts and Dad jokes weaved in.

We booked originally for the Saturday before Valentines day but it was canceled due to too many bookings. The lady I spoke to on the phone to reschedule was extremely nice and accommodating. We booked in for the next weekend and it was amazing. We had a seat at the back of the boat and could see everything. The food was really good. The only thing I would have liked is maybe a little bit speedier alcohol service. I did find I had to track down a waiter to ask for a drink. But still 5 stars.

Sending a message with sheer gratitude and love to amazing cruise director Pippa and her wonderful team on the lunch cruise 1pm for yesterday Sunday 17 March. We had our section mid-deck to celebrate my brother Devantae's 21st birthday and our experience was impeccable. Such a lively and joyful atmosphere, absolutely delicious food and great memories we will always treasure. From the moment we picked up boarding passes and met Heather at the office who was so friendly and helpful, to when we boarded and through to the time we stepped back on land, we were met with beautiful smiles and cheerful staff. Also to Trista and Natasha in the event coordinating team, you both were so patient, cooperative and helpful in our booking process. Every point of contact delivered the most lovely customer experiences. I commend Pippa and her team because although we had a large rowdy group, we were served with second-to-none hospitality. They were always so friendly, prompt and joyful to serve us. From general enquiries to special requests, they were always willing to go the extra mile, this is the heart of excellent customer service. Even before we asked of things, they were always steps ahead to help us out and ensure we were comfortable and well looked after. Our entertainer for the afternoon was so much fun, a great variety of generational songs and a great spirit of joy that even the children got up onto the dance-floor too! We had such an amazing, fun-filled and extravagant time. Even with the occasional rainfall and overcast, this didn't stop us from having an amazing time! Some people are just never satisfied... The buffet is AMAZING!! The portions are MORE than enough, unless you are expecting to stuff your face until you feel sick. All the waiters are friendly, chatty, they check on you and ensure full satisfaction. You can genuinely see how much effort is put into the whole experience. The boat is BEAUTIFUL, clean, cosy and it was a lovely, smooth sail. The live music was the best and everyone was singing along having a great time. This is the second time my family and I do the dinner cruise and I will definitely be doing it again and again and again! Thank you to all the team!

Food: Absolutely devine! The yummiest and freshest buffet I've ever had, at times buffets can be dry and oily but yours was delicious. The flavours were amazing. The baby octopus and Pavlova with berry component were the definite standouts of the day! Compliments to the chef(s)! Staff: We had Shristie as our host for the day. She was polite, funny, accommodating and fantastic to deal with. She had a great sense of humour and dealt with our annoying drunkenness amazingly. She was an absolute pleasure to deal with. We thanked her multiple times but please pass on our well wishes for ensuring we had the best experience. There were other staff we dealt with were just as phenomenal. The Captains Dan and Derrick were also a treat to deal with, very funny and made us feel at home on the boat. Food serving staff were all pleasant and very nice to deal with. Beautiful manners and conversation skills even just serving food! You have an amazing crew on deck, couldn't fault one staff member! Overall: The boat was well presented, tables and chairs set up beautifully with enough space to move around. Very clean. A beautiful place to enjoy the day. Band was great and also very accommodating. We will be coming back for future birthdays and celebrations and spreading the word. Thank you for providing such an amazing experience, could not fault one part of the day/experience, only that it had to end!

Getting your boarding pass was very easy. The captain and deckhand greeted us as we were getting on the boat. We then were greeted by our waiter who showed us to our table. Just sitting there for 30-40 minutes we were getting quite warm. No fans were in our area. We sat on the lower floor. There were no jugs of water on any tables. Once our waiter got some spare time we ordered our drinks, my beer wasn’t as cold as I expected it. Once we took off at around 1900 food was almost immediately served, you go up table by table. The food was delicious and you can ask for a little bit of everything or you can pick and choose. Once everyone on your level went through, you then can go back for more. Obviously there is quite a wait between mains and deserts. Desert was really good. Likes- Entertainment (live entertainment) Quantity and quality of Food was good. Attentive wait staff Dislike Some Drinks came in small glasses Tables close to together I and others felt the cruise was just that little bit too long, Improvements Fans should be Spread the tables apart. What I recommend- Wear light clothing, it does get quite warm. Book a window table, we didn’t, but you can close and open the window as you please. You will get people walking around and blocking your view. Just be mindful of that, We The boat is original and they have windows to see the paddles spin. Overall it was really nice, I give this cruise a 4 out of 5.

I took my 95yo grandfather for the high tea cruise. It was wonderful. I rang beforehand and informed them of his requirements and they were more than happy to accommodate him. We were on the Sunday night Seafood buffet cruise. Really good news is that the food was VERY tasty (better than we expected) and with a big variety. Views from the slow cruise up and down the river were pleasant and you can walk around the promonade deck and go up on the observation deck on the roof. Nearly all of the passengers were on the older side which is not surprising, and the music was mostly nicely low-key. 'Live music' meant one singer with a recorded backing track. Acoustics from the live music was also a bit patchy where we were sitting right at the front of the upper deck (some bass reverb/distortion at times) but maybe that was just where we were sitting. Duration of the cruise was good but information on the website on when the cruise would end was not correct (it implied it would go for much longer, when in fact it went from 6pm to 8.30pm). Overall it is not a 'super classy' experience but very pleasant. Service was a bit patchy with one of our drinks orders being missed. We had 3 different service staff asking us if we wanted to order more drinks and when we pointed out to the 3rd person that we were still waiting for a drink to arrive she fixed it up quickly. Our final bill was not correct by a small amount (but was corrected promptly when we pointed out the error).

Have always enjoyed my time on the Kookaburra Cruise fleet but the vegetarian options left us wanting more for what we paid. We spoke with management prior to purchasing the tickets regarding food options for us and were provided with a sample menu that was not offered on the day so our options were sparse for what we paid. We attended the Xmas brunch and whilst the staff were friendly, there were not enough staff to passengers. Also, we were not able to order any alcoholic beverages until 11am with the 2 hour cruise starting at 10 and unlimited alcohol was apart of the price of our tickets. There was also a torrential leak from the upstairs air-conditioning that could be mistaken for a water feature.

The package was great value at $65 per person, with unlimited drinks included. The selection was more than satisfactory, with at least one each of sparkling, white and red wine, light and full strength beer and spirits. We thoroughly recommend this cruise to others.
