Steak, chips, baked and mashed potato are always cooked to perfection. Even the bread, sauces, garden salad and coleslaw doesn’t disappoint. Consistency always exists here. Service is fast and up high in standards; staffs are always responsive and willing to fix your complaints promptly (over/undercooked steak, wrong sides etc).

Great atmosphere, amazing selection of beef on display , had the wagyu rump . Very tasty , bit slow to serve was moderately busy , 1:30 pm on a Friday , nice selection of drinks , would happily recommend for non vegans ,
J. V. H.
Ordered some takeaway meals last night. They were packaged really well. The Eye fillet was cooked perfectly. The stand out for us though was the vegan pumpkin salad. Was put together really well , very filling , and was very appreciated. We Will be back as the standards were very high.

It's been years since I've been here, but it's still as good as I remember. The place runs like clockwork. The steaks are just perfect everytime and I even enjoyed my salad. The sauces were all gluten free and delicious. The atmosphere was great as well.
J.
Steak was amazing! Mushroom sauce and the chips topped it off! Very tasty and the service was very good! Friendly staff and the food didn’t take too long to come out. Would recommend ! And definitely will be back! 10/10!

Cheers for the weekend everyone 🥂 over the good food at @normanhotel 🥩 And yes Brissy people know where to find good steak here in Brisbane plus @cheffrankcorrenti has created more varieties range of menu for everyone. When I'm craving for steak then @normanhotel is my choice!

Great steakhouse at reasonable prices. Definitely recommend booking before arriving. It has a bit of a canteen feel to it (line up at counter to order food) as opposed to a sit down dining experience, but that’s fine as this is more of a casual fun experience. I arrived at 7:30pm and at that point it felt like peak; I think I waited in line for 15 mins to order. The steak was standard but cooked to my liking (medium rare). The mushroom sauce was thick and tasty while my two sides or coleslaw and chips were excellent choices.

3 star at best. Not like it used to be. If it wasn't for the steak it'd be 1 star. Salad was just terrible. Potato might as well have been absent it was so dry and bacon pieces were dry and no spur cream.
Bar girl couldn't have been less interested to be there.
Wait staff were robotic. Concierge was friendly as was the lady who took order but rest was average at best.
Also put in corner with a wobbly table in what looked like a section that needed to be badly renovated.
Won't be going back

Great steak. Great chips. Great bacon sauce.
Very ordinary beer list. Only one craft beer on offer and it was from bloody New South Wales.

Very nice atmosphere and food was delicious.

Cannot recommend and rate this place high enough. The food (especially the steaks) are next level. Whenever we have been it’s always super busy but never waiting long for our food. Beautiful outdoor courtyard seating area with fairy lights at night is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a cold beverage and yummy food. Great location right near the Gabba and city.

Perfect dining experience, fresh ingredients, Reasonably priced, fast service on a busy Saturday night, Highly recommended👍🏻

The customer service was outstanding. Everyone we encountered was polite, helpful and friendly. We went on a Monday night and it was extremely busy - which should tell you how good it is. I ordered rare steak (and picked precisely which steak) from the cabinet, while my partner got atlantic salmon and we shared an entree of buffalo wings. The entree came out quite quickly considering it was busy and with home made singularly packed rolls. Wings for some reason I was expecting deep fried, but Oh My Goodness! Everything was outstanding!
Dinner took a little longer, but we had drinks ordered from and brought to our table while we waited. The salmon - amazing though slightly overdone but was still fantastic. I The steak was fantastic though came out blue and cold, I asked for it to be recooked a little longer and they topped up my sides - though the baked potato topping was quite overly meaty/salty. But still mouthwatering delicious steak.

As they say the worst vegan and vegetarian restaurant.
I had a 400g rump steak, Idaho potato and coleslaw.
The steak was cooked to perfection, the whole meal was great.
Service was good , we did wait long , the price was fair.
Parking was a bit difficult, as the hotel hasn't a big car park.
A bit of a walk , but well worth it.
W. K.
The steak is good, as well as the baked potato with bacons.

Had a great time at the Norman Hotel to celebrate my 18th Birthday, Meals were absolutely exquisite. Service was quick and punctual. Over 15 people were served in under 30 minutes. Outstanding service. Thank You Norman Hotel for your amazing hospitality!
A. J.
It was my birthday and we actually went to the Pineapple Hotel to find the restaurant closed.
So the Norman hotel was by default.
We were very pleased with the meals.
S. L. M.
Five stars to this busy and very efficient steakhouse serving beautifully cooked and tender steaks, varied and tasty entrees and high quality and refreshing drinks. We went there on a busy Friday night and the place was packed. Despite of this, food left the kitchen quickly and hot.
If you are a meat-lover and enjoy this type of food this is a must-try place.
B. B.
Stunning steaks! Really great food with large portions. Bit higher end price wise but justified with the quality of the meal and meat. Large venue with bars and ample seating.
C. V.
Super hot day and we were helped to find room inside straight away to be seated inside of the crazy heat from the outside tables. Our drinks and food were correct and were nice. One of meals were ordered rare and came out medium instead but other than that, the rest of the service was excellent! The prices are pretty steep but the cuts were really nice. We’d go again was a great lunch.
B. U.
Came for dinner because our aunty was wanting to eat steak. This place definitely does steak, with lots of different cuts to choose from.
After getting seated, you look through the menu and when you're ready to order you head up to the counter to order. The steaks come with salad/veges and chips/potato, as well as a sauce. After ordering you get a buzzer which will go off when you're order is ready. You have to pick it up yourself from the pick up counter.
Food was nice but I thought it lacked seasoning. It was cooked well though. Sides were also nice and the meals all came with a bread roll. Portions were fairly large. Nice place for a steak but it was a bit pricey.
J.
Great for gatherings 🍻
Fantastic alfresco seating that’s perfect for a balmy evening out with mates. Order from the bar or easily from the table with your mobile phone. Great service and serving speed.
Had a 300gm NY striplion done medium rare. Served closer to a medium at the table however, and would’ve benefited from more seasoning. Sides and sauce were extraordinary though - beautiful mustard bearnaise, chips and slaw.
Honestly, a little underwhelming on the whole, but still an enjoyable dining experience - especially on the boss’s dime. 😁
E. K.
The steak was really tender and delicious, but I waited too long for the food to come out. I think I've been waiting for 40 minutes. Maybe because it's the weekend, but I don't recommend it when you don't have enough time or are too hungry.
J. W.
Great venue with a great menu and friendly atmosphere. Steak cabinet is unique. Great food, in particular all the steaks. Multiple visits with never a bad experience, bar prices can be a little high
J. F.
The publicity about "the worst vegetarian restaurant" is totally true! What an amazing place to get a fabulous meat. You can pick your choose from big fridges just in front of you. Despite the slogan salads are really good too. And you need to try the plates to share.
In summary one of the best place for lunch or dinner (beef and more beef) in Brisbane 100% recommended.
M. B.
Wonderful experience for a Bucks night meal!
The staff were wonderful with organising everything! Meals came out at time specified and cooked to perfection!
The 600g Rump ticked the Bucks request for steak perfectly & the meals accommodated our vegan/vegetarian friends!
D. L.
An excellent steak house on the south side in Brisbane. Big open dining spaces, with a huge number of areas to relax and dine at. Big bars with plenty of service and the usual big range of steaks make it a great location for a social catch up with bigger groups
T. N. (.
Similar to Breakfast Creek Hotel, famous for its steaks. It has a great selection of steaks and non steak dishes. We are a large group of people, no mistake were made in terms of the orders. I ordered the most expensive wagyu. It was cooked to perfection and taste alright. However, it’s not how I imagine a piece of wagyu would taste. It’s not quite up to my standard. Im not sure I would come back.
J. M.
The Norman hotel restaurant are worth their price and best meal I have ever tried the steak melted in our mouth and the staff was friendly and helpful and the management could not do enough to help me out and the table services was excellent and the food came straight away from the kitchen nice and hot and delicious and the bar staff was friendly and helpful and icy cold drinks and coffee is excellent made and the sweets mmm I got no fault of this place I be back
S. d. A.
Overpriced average steaks, for a place that prides itself on steaks the doneness on several steaks at our table was not per their guide. The baked potato was soggy. The drinks service was reasonably fast. However once the order was delivered the service staff were nowhere to be seen. 30 mins after competing our meals the table had still not been cleared at this stage with plenty of flies around we had to call for the table to be cleared and it still took 5 mins.
For the price there is better.
M. I.
Our first time was very enjoyable.
We were there for a function but arrived early.
The seating area was very pleasant and we enjoyed our drinks and a snack. Service was prompt and barman attentive.
Later we moved to the function room for our gathering. A tasting of various steaks was served...cooked to perfection.
Hope for another opportunity to visit this older style hotel...my favouite sort.
B. s.
I've been wanting to go to the Norman for a steak for a long time and that was today. A good mate was doing the annual 1kg Steak challenge so I joined him. THE BEST steak I've had for a long time and while I struggled I completed the challenge along with my mate, to good to leave a bite.
Definitely the worst vegetarian restaurant in Brisbane but well and truly lives up to the reputation of one of the best steak joints in Brisbane. A must do for streak lovers.

EDIT - Just realised my worded review never saved - so here it goes again...
Had an overnight stop at Woolloongabba during a basketball road trip weekend, couldn't call myself a foodie without a stop to the famous "Norman Hotel"
Getting a reservation was easy, even an hour ahead of time.
We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday night, expecting it to be busy, and it was... nevertheless, the longest part was waiting in the order line, perhaps cause we were at the tail end of the evening, but our food didn't take long to arrive, so service was prompt.
I ordered a rare OP bone-in rib eye steak, (pictured) with mushroom sauce, salad and chips. I meant to try their all beef sausage, but forgot to order one until after I'd left the line - next time.
Steak was cooked exactly how I wanted it (not all steakhouses get this part right) and the mushroom gravy was on point... I wasn't expecting it to be on the meat, but I guess I should have specified I wanted it on the side.
Chips were good, drink service even better.
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will definitely return.
Cheers!
M. G.
Recently ate here. Can say the steak was cooked perfectly however the chips were cold and the coleslaw was tasteless. The pepper gravy was also up there compared to other places. The wait time is long so if you’re expecting a quick in and out steak think again. Great menu and selection of cuts of meat so if the menu doesn’t suit you then pick your own cut and off you go. I was expecting better because of the hype that was created for here.
E. O.
Famous for its steaks. Bookings essential. Not cheap but high quality food.
J. H.
Went to the Norman Hotel for their steak cooking masterclass and we had a fantastic time. Very funny, very informative and all around an awesome way to spend a Saturday lunch. The staff were fantastic and fast and we had a great time! Thank you
P.
Fantastic meal at realistic prices
500% better than the Bakehouse Steak house at Ipswich
J. A.
Friendly steakhouse with lots of great steak options. Of course you can choose how you want your steak cooked. There's a bar there so you can drink alcoholic beverages and there's also a pokies room
Not the most affordable place just to keep in mind.
S. S.
Always yummy meals an plenty of carnivore choices. Seems at busy times if your outside you can be forgotten about. Little lighting proved dangerous around steps. Will go again as food makes up for it all.
Went again tonight..Wednesday. Cannot fault a single thing...oh so scrumptious. Guess like all restaurants can have bad moments.
M. W.
Steak-Away has been a brilliant idea for us to get our Norman Fix each weekend.
Innovative idea so we can BBQ at home ☺️
Delicious steaks, cutlets & sides wrapped up and ready to go.
Looking forward to you reopening soon but in the meantime thanks for looking after us carnivores!
M. B.
Nice venue, great internal and external spaces, and of course quality steaks!
C. R.
Great cocktails and other alcoholic drinks. I really enjoyed the Roasted Pumpkin and fried cauliflower salad - it was delicious.
D. R.
The steak was good but the hot chips even better. Not bad for Brisbane's worse vegetarian restaurant, lol
P. B.
Excellent steak options, fast friendly service with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
W. K.
Large range of steaks and sides in a comfortable setting. Steaks cooked to my liking. Expect it to be busy on weekends or Fridays.
J. W.
Great dining experience with friends. Nice ambience in the restaurant, excellent selection of steaks to choose from, friendly and efficient service with food and at the bar. We will be back.
F. H.
Good quality of steak but a little bit on the pricy side. However, the bars are fantastic, Chloe and Jake in the bar next to the kitchen were super helpful and nice when I couldn't decide which bottle of red to purchase with our steaks. Very reasonable prices in the bars.
Myself and my family sat on table 94 (we could see the kitchen!) It was interesting watching them grill so many steaks at once.
Would recommend for a nice night out.
W. L.
We came here for a work function - the meeting rooms were good, the toilets (even though old) were convenient and clean. The coffee was ok but I didn't like my steak. I asked for medium and got a hard and dry one, with burnt bitter bits. I thought they were meant to be a really good steakhouse so I was extra disappointed! I enjoyed the mussels though - they were in a flavoursome soup which I liked...but nothing spectacular.
L. E.
Very popular place, nice dining areas and love the eye fillet steak.
K. H.
The food here was absolutely delicious, but the service was even better. Shoutout to Bella carbone she absolutely outdid her service
E. l.
Had my Engagement Party here within the Beergarden on Saturday night and I loved it! Elise, the functions manager was amazing in every aspect and was so helpful and kind. Our waitress on the night was lovely and the food was delicious. Will certainly be back for another function in the future! :)
T. E.
Well laid out place it'd be easy to spend a few hours with a group of friends. A bit on the pricier side. Mains were generally quite good, but both steaks were underwhelming for the price. Shouldn't be surprised, had similar experiences at other places that claim to serving great steak; seems they can't do the volume they need at the quality they claim.
N. B.
The steak was good apart from my medium rare steak was overcooked. The sides weren't great, in particular the mash potato, you could taste it was that powdered mash potato, which you would not expect when you are paying 37 and above for a meal. My partners medium rare steak was overcooked as well. The overall quality of the steak was good just the sides need a bit of work.
L. W.
Nice steak friendly staff.
This place for the best part does do a nice steak and the sides are generous. The bread roll you get with a steak meal is really nice. The only gripe I have about this place is they take bookings for meals out into their drinking area and if you are unfortunate to end up booked there don't expect to be able to have a conversation as it becomes very load with pations enjoying a beer or 12.
D. P.
It is one of the busiest place in the city, however you will get good food and good served by staffs.
C. C.
Great service good food great location friendly staff Thank you
J. A.
Great steak house , food delicious and decor outstanding
F. D.
BEST STAKES EVER!!! Seriously, if you don't mind spending a little extra coin, these guys do the best stake by far. Kitchen staff extremely friendly & helpful. Bar staff are not as friendly but oh well. Whenever we feel like stakes it has to be the Norman!
A. R.
I love the Norman. It’s always delivered top quality product and service
Steaks are always delicious and generously sized, and their selection is top shelf.
Their staff are friendly and attentive to requirements. In the new distancing world, they have a good seating arrangement that keeps their customers safe.
If you’re looking for great value, don’t go past.
A. S.
Great place for lunch or dinner. Can cater for any size group. Meal is always cooked to perfection. Alternatives available if beef is not your cup of tea. Great wine and beer selection.
J. M.
Heard a lot about the famous steaks at the Norman Hotel so decided to try it with my partner Saturday night, place was full and glad we booked. Loved the ambiance, its a pub on steroids, massive in size with a lot of different areas.
There is no table service so you order from the sales counter, took a little while, but that was fine. Meat is on display so you can choose your steak on vision. You can see into the kitchen and looked like a mass production line, also very nice to see.
I ordered the filet minion and I saw the sausages when ordering and ordered one of those as well. My partner wanted chicken and ordered that and I also ordered a bocconcini salad. The bocconcini salad is tomato slices with slices of mozzarella on top salad a few drops of cheap balsamic vinegar.
Wait time was fine and in the meantime we had a wine and a chat. Meals came out and presentation was good.
Unfortunately my filet was dry as was my partners chicken. To be truthful I was disappointed as I had higher expectations from a place that supposedly specializes in meat. To be fair the sausage was absolutely delicious and we both would have been happier with sausages for dinner. The bocconcini salad, hum, well below par.
I would go back for the atmosphere and the sausages but not sure that this would be the place that I would go to if I had a craving for a juicy steak.
B. K. (.
I'd heard only good things about this hotel however the day I went it was quite average. It was a date for 2, got seated in a really awkward spot with no fan working. Ordered steaks with toppers/sides (Asked to have as toppers with veg on the side and sauce in a sauce jar) instead our requests ignored and it all come out separately. Both steaks were cooked unevenly. Tasty cocktails.
J. C.
The steak in the window was not the steak that came out and it was a little over cooked, however
the saving grace were the oyster - they were awesome
L. G.
Plenty of areas to sit, drink and chat. Good looking menu. Off street parking.
K. F.
They make great steak we recommend asking to sit near heater during winter it can get quite cold. I tried the wagyu and it’s quite nice for the price they charge.
G. C.
Brilliant pub grub!
Steaks are top notch and I love the parmy. The take large booking which is brilliant. We booked for 35.
Pricing is reasonable for size and quality. We really enjoyed the wagu brisket spring rolls!! Oh and the fluffy white dinner rolls they have been serving for years are legendary!
Their COVID plan is fantastic and really well executed by staff and patron's!
Can't go past The Norman!
P. D. M. P. B.
Awesome place to have a wedding last night in the Norman bar.
Can't wait to work there again in the future.
R. G.
Very average steak and sides, staff clearly overworked *not a criticism of them but they need more on* and seating tables right next to smoking area is pretty disgusting.
35min line up to get in was really disorganised.
S. J.
One of the best afternoons at the Norman Hotel doing a Master Steak Cook Class with chef Adam and the team from #TechPath. Adam was very informative, professional with a great sense of humor.
R. F.
Great steak, cold beer and great service from the staff. What more could you ask for. Will go back again next time we are in Brisbane.
T. N.
Very busy and staff were under the pump. Steak was perfectly cooked.
R. P.
The chefs here know exactly what they are doing. The day I went there with a friend it was a little busy and we were place in a strange place for a table to be, but we were able to move. Essentially, this place is just your basic pub in Brisbane with the exception that the steak is probably the best you are going to get around. If I would come back to this place, it would be to hold a function or a staff party. Their little to large rooms tucked away all around the place is a great place to hold a party.
L. M.
We have been to the Norman quite a few times now and we have never been disappointed with the steak. It's always cooked the way we like it and so tender and tasty. Sometimes I think about trying something else on the menu but I always end up going back to the Eye Fillet. Nice atmosphere and quite a few different areas to sit.
L. S.
Great steak, nice atmosphere, great service
R. F.
I took my son to the Norman to celebrate his forthcoming marriage.
We had a reserved table in the main dining area.
The staff...... "Lucy" and others looked after us exceptionally, treated us like royalty. The new menu was broad and perfect. We both had oysters and wings. The oysters were so fresh i could taste the salt.. We then had the Large eye fillet. A quality cut and cooked to perfection...rare medium.
We had an excellent bottle of Henske red.
A all round excellent night 9/10.
Robert
S. K.
Great steaks, perfectly cooked, great house-made sides, friendly staff. Always an excellent night
G. I.
Great atmosphere in the beer garden and the meal from the front bar was good value. The Rib Fillet i had was awesome and my friends striploin was a treat!
J. M.
Great place to come and have a pub meal as well as a few drinks at. The steak is very good quality and is always cooked to a high standard. Highly recommended
t. f.
Overall good, fairly tasty steak.
It's not an ALH pub :)
Bit on the pricey side to be honest.
-↗️Riverina Rib Fillet large. Med rare.
(wasn't cooked to perfection, but was pretty close.) my partners medium small was only slightly smaller than my large and was cooked rarer than mine?
-⬇️Sides the potato with bacon. Utter disappointment. Cold, tasteless bacon bits also cold. No salt and pepper on table either and the butter for the bread rolls wasn't nice or not butter.
-↕️Bread rolls are super fresh and tasty, but the butter tasted like a cheap margerine blend? :(
Still nice bread rolls through. (Brekky Creek uses actual butter,)
but the above mentioned steak was better here.
-Can't rate the staff as personally didn't interact with any apart from servers who seemed OK.
Overall, I wouldn't rave about it. Friends got the eye fillet Mignon. Which was hit and miss amongst us. And the small Rib Fillet was also average. Drinks ie softdrink overpriced as well.
Parking was packed as well, not the best, not the worst It was better than breakfast Creek and on par with Newmarket hotel (Another ALH venue) will keep looking for that mythical great Brisbane food...
Thanks for replying! Knowing your not an alh means a lot to us and that you took the time to reply is even better!
👌👍👍👍👍👍
A. A.
Luv the steaks there! Good selection of meat. Big space for big groups.
A. J.
Salmon very good. Not great value.
Rump medium-well done was very overcooked and tough.
Chips and baked potato not great.
Very plain coleslaw, mostly cabbage.
S. C.
My friend and I shared our birthday with a party of 25 people last night. We had a great time. The platters we ordered were delicious and generous! The tasty Spicy chicken drummets, the calamari and the mozzarella balls were the faves!
Thanks to the staff for letting us be a little noisy and sprinkle the confetti on the table.
I would definitely recommend The Norman Hotel to anyone who appreciates friendly staff, good food and a fun atmosphere!
B. B.
A SERIOUS contender for the best Hotel in Qld. Food great staff great and on a very busy Valentines day didn't miss a beat with service. You better be hungry when you go there. It's more than worth it.
I. Y.
A great place for steak!!! Now they have more options for gluten free and vegans!!
K. J.
They sure can cook steak! Beautiful dinner here & we highly recommend the chilli sauce with the steak. Salad dressing is famous & it’s easy to see why. Only concern was that it was really busy when we were there & there was no social distancing with the table placement. Chairs were literally back to back touching.
I. T.
Faultless, great value and steaks are the best in Brisbane 🥩
J. C.
Great steaks but sides could use a bit of work. We ordered a Caesar salad to share... it was a bowl of lettuce with an overcooked boiled egg, slab of bacon not even diced up and could barely see Parmesan. It seemed a rather lazy way to make a salad and was almost like a statement of “we only do steaks everything else is too much of a bother”.
That said, the steaks were amazing and I did love the prawn topper I added with it. We were all so full after that none of us ate dinner that night. I’d give it a five star rating if everything on the menu was served to perfection like their steaks
M. W.
Great food and drinks. Service was quick. Nil issues.
D. P. C.
I haven't been here in ages .My mate and myself had the best steaks ever ,full of flavour and absolutely mouth watering. We also had oysters and garlic prawns in butter.Yummyy!!!!
P. C.
We had a hankering for a great steak so headed to Norman Hotel on Saturday night - it was packed! We scored an outside table near a heater so all good for us.
Oysters were yum and the steak was cooked just right - as usual. The only downside was the long line (20mins) to order our meals. A consequence of how busy it was, I guess. Once the orders were in, getting the meals was quick - no problems.
B.
A place where you can easily eat steak without being unpretentious.
S. I.
Great food, fast service on a busy Friday night.
G. C.
awesome place to have t-bone steak which is very yummy
M. C.
Great place, good food, excellent service!!
R. F.
Nomally good meals but today my wifes steak was undercooked and my Chicken very dry. Smokers about 6 metres away making the meal unenjoyable. The replacement steak was overcooked. High price for a small bottle of coke
J.
Excellent food and service.
It had been some years since visiting the Norman but very pleased with the evening out, will be back for sure.
Highly recommend to anybody looking for the pub bistro experience.
Terrific steaks!
L. K.
We ordered 3 steaks, a medium rare for my mother a medium for my son and a medium well for me. My mother's was rare, my son's was blue and mine was perfectly cooked. It was ok. My son was unhappy, so we tried to speak to someone about it but it was so busy that we just left. I probably won't be back because I think there are better steaks in Brisbane.
S. G.
Good atmosphere, yummy food, didn't thave to wait long for food which was good when you are with a 3 year old
L. J.
Came on a Friday night, busy but not ridiculously so. Steak was cooked perfectly. Medium rare.. but the lights are really dim and I got a huge mouthful of griselly fat that I couldn’t chew or swallow. (Thank goodness for serviettes...)My dining companion had an eye fillet that was described as perfect. Overall delicious and will definitely be back..
R. M.
Three of us went to the Norman last night for dinner, two steak lovers and me not. The two steak recipients, we're not disappointed with their meals. My friend who is a fussy eater, demolished everything on his plate. I had barramundi, which will horrify most people who like a good steak, but it was delicious, moist and cooked to perfection. Our other guest like my friend also cleaned her plate. The Norman was extremely busy, but we enjoyed a pleasant evening, but glad we booked, which I would recommend.
S. (.
Excellent experience. Rib fillet was tender, sides complimented the steak. Staff were very friendly and efficient even though we were there on a Saturday night and it was very busy. Pork ribs were superb. Service was fast, and the meals spot on. Looking for a great steak, cold beer and big meals, look no further. Will be back for sure.
C. H.
Very busy on a Friday night, had to wait in line for drinks and food. I had the pork ribs which was really tasty, it was tender and flavoursome and not too salty. It took a while for food to come out but everyone was happy with their meal

Good pub fare. Very much a meat lover's paradise but the barramundi I had was perfect. They've done a good job rebuilding the rear of the premises. Service is quick and typically pub standard.

Fantastic steak cooked to perfection 🥰
L.
First time here & it is amazing food, great atmosphere/vibes, good drinks, plenty of space & room to choose from to sit eat drink or relax, lots of staff around tonight to assist, nice service. Parking is the only thing that could be an issue, apart from that brilliant place to go visit!
J. H.
On arrival we were met with stunning potted colour in the beer garden and huge hanging baskets spewing flowering plants around the street, also hanging from balconies. Your gardener has done an amazing job! Our perfectly cooked steaks were delicious and accompanied by baked potato with bacon topping, coleslaw, fresh tomato and a soft white bread roll and butter. This is simple but a winning combination that made The Breakfast Creek Hotel such an icon. Obviously when the owners of the BFC Hotel took over The Norman Hotel they bought that receipe with them. The only improvement I would suggest would be to stay with a vinegarette dressed coleslaw than a mayonnaise, as the vinegarette cuts through fats to balance the meal, this would make it perfect. We both love oysters kilpatrick but didn't order them, as we thought they were overpriced :(. For this reason I give The Norman Hotel a 4 star rating for overall ambiance, food and service :)

Nice place friendly staff and great steak.
C. S.
Have been here a few times now and the food has been excellent every single time. Not only is the food great, but the service too. Special mention to the lady behind the bar that helped me carry our 4 drinks back to the table. Can't wait to come back!
t. C.
You can say it’s the best steak in Brisbane 🤩nice service ,nice atmosphere, especially good steak 😄😄👍🏻👍🏻it’s worth to try when you visit Brisbane 😋😋
C. A.
Always a good meal. Historic pub. Great service
L. H.
always know your getting good food here!
A. K.
Best steak, beautifully cooked. Casual atmosphere.
J. P.
Excellent Steakhouse, Grilled Steaks cooked to perfection. Have been visiting the Norman Hotel for over 20 years and have never had a bad Steak yet and the staff are always friendly.

I'm interested in trying beefsteak's restaurant in Aus. We were supposed to have dinner here on the other weekend, however it was difficult to book table at early time. That's why we came here on Wednesday instead. My bf just misremembered so he ordered for me 'medium well', however I would like 'medium rare'. Maybe that's why it tasted a little bit bitter on surface of the meat. I love more sauce on both meat and salads. Generally this dish is still very nice and good place to try.
j. b.
Renovated and looking sharp. The food is excellent, well priced for what your getting, the kitchen team know their stuff, every dish was cooked to perfection. The entire team are well presented and customer service is on point. No wait even tho it was busy. The new alfresco space is really nicely fitted out.
M. B.
Excellent steaks great service
Amazing atmosphere
Although if your eating a meal in the "sports bar" it smells like a dank pub with beer soaked carpet
Which is the only negative thing about it
Food for kings.... I strongly recommend this place
G. A.
Service is always fantastic and the food is ALWAYS perfect. If you have never been, so yourself a favour. It’s always been our place to go to for an amazing steak !
C. W.
Great food
Great atmosphere

I ordered the midi eye fillet cooked medium rare with mushroom sauce, chips and salad. The steak itself was fine - not exceptional, but not bad. No better than a supermarket steak cooked at home. The sauce was the standard pub quality sauce, which is what I was expecting and there’s nothing wrong with it however, for some reason I was on half rations. The chips were average at best and again only a small serve was provided. And then there was the salad... the meal came out with a small pile of lettuce mix and a nice little dressing and was topped off with half a tomato. Not cut up and mixed in with the lettuce mix, but simply half a standard quality tomato sitting on the side of my meal. I’m not sure when it was discussed amongst the steak restaurants of Brisbane, that it was acceptable to provide a single chunk of tomato with some lettuce and call that a salad... that’s because, it’s not. The Breakfast Creek is also a culprit of this. Oh and don’t get me started on the preservative rich, pre-bagged, no use-by date bread rolls that accompany your “premium steak”. All in all, the Norman didn’t live up to its reputation. This is not the first time that I’ve been disappoint by this restaurant. Perhaps it’s time to lift your game? Overall Score 5/10 - I won’t be back in a hurry - LC
C. C.
Delicious food!
D. I.
Great selection of dishes that range in price accordingly. If you want to eat then make sure you book. They have a digital sign in registry so take a moment to use it. They only allow 1.5hr bookings but you won't feel rushed whilst dining.
E. L.
Great steak! Great location to having meal with Friends and family.
J. a. K.
Interesting place, nice atmosphere. Ordered a medium steak & received rare which was pretty disappointing.
Also think the price point is a bit high considering there is no table service and you need to go up to order & pick up food.
Was an ok meal, but not worth $50pp price tag- certainly not until chef learns to perfect a medium cooked steak.
T. K.
Regular chef not available but fill-in chef more than qualified(03-01-2020), by far the best steak I’ve enjoyed for as long as I can remember!, absolutely unbelievable, could not leave a morsel! Well done to all concerned, will be back soon and recommending to all I know!!
J.
Surprisingly well cooked steaks and I picked a rump! The lack of service was a bit surprising for the price though as everything is pretty much self service.
G. N.
A beer at the Norman was cheaper than parking at the Princess Alexandra Hospital while waiting for my wife - a no brainer, really. Staff were friendly and Aether hazy very pleasant. Could become a habit.🤔
C. M.
Had an excellent experience at the norman hotel, I started in the sports bar and was served by a man named Jake who recommended a me some delcious spirits and helped me put some money on a horse.
And then when my booking started me and my freinds were served by a tall lady with dark hair at our table. Very fast drink service and magnificent steaks (I got the big norman rump). Everything was up to standard.
Great work folks.
D. P.
Difficulty in parking on Saturday Night. Great Hotel for family and friends to catch up. Like the idea you can window shop and choose your specific steak. The chefs cooked the steak to my requirements. Thank You 👍🏼 Very busy night and liked that we were offered another alternative than waiting in line to our take order. The only disappointing result the meal was cold by the time we received it due to the pure volume of meals prepared on the night.
S. M.
Steaks are good, not great. It's mass cooking at its best and if you're looking for a steak and beers is good but you can expect to wait when it's busy around things like sporting events or Friday and Saturday nights. Good selection and you likey won't be disappointed in this upmarket pub.
A. S.
Delicious steak, I'll certainly be back!
L. L.
Ordered medium steak, gave me rare meat, went back to the girl at the front asking to cook it bit longer, she looked at me and told me THAT IS NOT RARE, as if I don't know how a rare piece of steak looks like. They did cook it and with fresh salad, chips and steak.
Pork ribs are tough, coleslaw is dry, food and service should be better for the price.
T. T.
What a feed! The meals are massive. Definately a meat lovers dream..
A. K.
Yummy food, Good steaks!
G. G.
Awesome feed thanks.
A. W.
Best stick to eye fillet. Quality almost guaranteed. One of our party had rib fillet and it was just not a nice steak. Always a delight to visit. Great service. Always a buzz about the place. Been visiting for 12 years.
N. V.
If ever a place lived up to its mantra it’s the Norman! They say it’s the worst vegetarian restaurant in Brisbane and it’s correct! Magnificent steak cooked to perfection. The vegetables/salad weren’t bad but the steak was AMAZING! I only had the 400gram but could have had more because of how on point it was cooked. I also recommend the Bloody Mary oyster shooters
N. “. V.
You are my top 3 steak place. Always come here for the Wagyu Striploin and that wonderful Mushroom sauce. You're draining my poor boyfriend's wallet!!
*26/05/21* Sadly, it had slowly become a disappointment as the Wagyu Striploin and mushroom sauce seemed to have changed. Chef always make my steak close to rare when requested medium. Mushroom sauce is lumpy.
S. A.
Steaks and more steaks. This is a predominantly steak based hotel. The quality of the $30-$50 steaks was average. My Texan T-bone had a lot of gristle and sinew. Not what you expect for $40. Not table service. Order and prepay at counter, collect from counter. Roast potatoes and salad on the side were good. Bit disappointing overall.
L. M.
FABULOUS--I have been coming here for 40 years with never a bad experience, I Never change my order, Mid Eye, Medium Rare, Mushroom Sauce, Baked Potato. Why Change when you are on to something Perfect.
A. K.
This place is just wonderful. The atmosphere is great. The food is awesome as well as the drink menu is pretty cool. Desserts are also good. The service and sitting arrangements like chair and furniture can be improved upon. But that can be ignored. There is a sports bar inside if you wanna watch matches and place bets. It feels slightly expensive but it's worth it.
a. s.
Great steak as usual, good atmosphere but be prepared to queue up out the door to order. You have to get your own food too on a tray when it's ready. Typical Australian service!
A. W.
The vegan salad with bbq brocollini was actually awesome haha. And my mates really liked their steaks and burgers.
M. A.
Great steaks and vegetarian meals to suit a variety of patrons. We opted for the air con area on a sweltering Brisbane day and it is a welcome relief.
F. T.
Perfect place and so typical Australian. Great cold beer and a selection of the best steaks known to man. We could not fault the night. Well done.
Happy Australia Day 2018.
T. S.
Drinks are pricey. Food is good, especially the big Norman rump. Clean toilet facility. Friendly and attentive staffs. Would be back when craving for a good quality steak.
B. H.
Great steaks and had a great night
L. W.
Quality steaks not quite cooked to perfection
T. A.
Took our team to the Mastersteak BBQ Cooking Class over the weekend and had a fantastic time. The Norman’s staff were amazing, and the class was very informative and lots of fun. Would highly recommend as a team building event!
Q.
Always is my first steak choice!!!!
C. C.
We celebrate a family birthday at the Norman recently and we all had a fantastic night. The service and steaks were fantastic, couldn't fault either!!
R. H.
Once again a fantastic meal, with wonderful service from all the Staff. The meals arrived really quickly and were very tasty. I look forward to my next trip to Brisbane
R. P.
Best steak I've had
M. B.
Generous meals, known for top steaks - yep that's true! Ate in Norman's bar area for lunch, service was prompt and pleasant. Steak 250g and vegetables 8/10. Be sure to check out the milk bottle chandelier! Large car park off Qualtrough Street at rear of hotel. Hotel opened 1889, so check out the history display board, some interesting facts.
D.
While the food is tasty, the customer service is quite slow and there were a lot of mistakes. We understand that our group of 16 was large, however, order was missed, a hair in food, missing sides from plates, and delivery time of food and drink was quite slow. The staff required paperwork to be filled out in order to create a tab. Only one cashier for long line of customers. Family friendly and good menu.
C. A.
Steak options don't appear as inviting as I thought they would. A lot less marbleing than I expected there to be but I guess this is reflected in the reasonabe prices. If you are looking for a great everyday steak, this is your place, otherwise if you're looking for marbleing, the only choice they have for you is the wagyu rib fillet. I had this and it was as you would expect from waygu, flavoursome. I ordered medium to ensure fat was rendered but it was undercooked at a medium rare. Still a very tasty dish.
R. F.
I had a few drinks and a steak here last night. I ordered the NY striploin, (my fav cut), and it was cooked to more like medium. It was also pretty dry and flavorless. My sides were a garden salad and baked potato, both were fine. IMO, for the price of $37 my steak should have been a lot tastier.
C.
Pretty nice Only stopped in for a quick beer Did the job 👍
J. M.
Great steak, I had the rib eye on a fairly busy Friday evening, all steaks came out cooked as requested and chips and salad were alright too. I need to remember to order extra sauce for my chips next time but I can't fault the kitchen for that! Not a local for me but will be back next time I'm in the area
S. R.
I love this steak house. Since 1985. World class steaks at the right price. Easy parking. Not that busy past 8pm so go late to avoid the line up. However, last visit there was a noticeable decline. Smaller T Bone, might have been frozen or not that good, no sour cream on the potato. Benefit of the doubt during Covid and I hope you return to that fantastic quality you were known for.
L. B.
Great selection of steaks (although that's pretty much it, but you should expect that). Wasn't quite to my personal taste but still very good, and staff were friendly and helpful too. Not particularly highly priced either when you consider the amount of food and the quality you're getting for your money.
M. L. S.
Expensive for lunch. Probably won’t return, more value elsewhere.
I. M.
I had such an amazing experience here! My server Pip was so welcoming and went out of her way to get me and my family a table last minute! Definitely coming here again :)
t. p.
The best steaks ever. Had lunch on Sunday & the food, & service was remarkable. We will certainly be back again.
L. F.
This place has a reputation for great steaks and they know their business. I chose a specials pasta dish, also delicious. Staff were friendly, ambience in the courtyard dining area inviting. Relaxed pub vibe.
R. B.
Steaks cooked to perfection. Friendly and helpful staff. Drinks are expensive .
A. T. F.
Loved the steak and the atmosphere at the beer garden. What could be improved is the service, especially for private events. At a place like this, staff should make you feel special and that wasn't the case. They were just doing their job.
D. V.
Great Steak, it's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, operating well during Covid, good service, though you do have to order at the bar, it is brought to your table.
A.
Great feed , great company, good wine
j. b.
Renovated and looking sharp. The food is excellent, well priced for what your getting, the kitchen team know their stuff, every dish was cooked to perfection. A short stop for a pre New Year drink. Quite relaxing.

We celebrate a family birthday at the Norman recently and we all had a fantastic night. The service and steaks were fantastic, couldn't fault either!!
s. w.
all good especially the older lady in the bar
D. R.
Just had a lovely lunch from a birthday fresh food good service and a cold beer
D. I.
Great selection of dishes that range in price accordingly. If you want to eat then make sure you book. They have a digital sign in registry so take a moment to use it. They only allow 1.5hr bookings but you won't feel rushed whilst dining.
P. K.
Very nice steak. Beer selection was ok. Beer garden is very hot in summer.
S. J.
The Norman Hotel is one of my favourite places to eat. Food is always fantastic and we look forward to our regular visits.
S. M.
Good vibes, the food is okay..
E. I.
Great place for an information evening
S. S.
I really want to love this place. Good decor, good menu, reasonable wine list (if a bit expensive) but if you put my sauce directly on my steak and can't cook it the requested rarity then you're missing the basics. I still enjoyed it but the little things let me down.
A. K.
Majoring in steaks, but also have other dishes to suit other tastes. I only spotted one vegetarian option, and the chicken parmigiana wasn't anything to write home about, so if you're going here for anything other than beef you're doing it wrong.
Great venue for lunch or dinner, but call ahead and make a booking on busier days.
D. C.
Every time I eat at this place, it's like a warm hug from grandma...a whole lot of "familiar love" with a huge portion of "comfort" on the side. Love this place. Best steaks in Brisbane, hands down!
C. D.
Brisbanes worst vegetarian resturant :) great food tender juicy meat and love the mushroom sauce to go with it I'm happy to spend a lil more for great food.
Thanks to all who work at The Norman Hotel.
J. M.
I had the 300gram eye fillet rare w mustard bearnaise and mash. Firstly I think the steak was cooked perfectly, so in that regard I was happy. I thought the mash was pretty basic for creamy mash as I have had much better. I came to the steakhouse hoping for a good steak dinner the mustard bearnaise was I felt too strong a mustard flavour. Good steak.mushroom sauce was pretty good. Will probably still go again sometime
L.
Only attend due to family catch up. I am not a steak fan so I ordered the chicken Parmigiana. The food looked filling on the plate, unfortunately the chicken was very dull & dry, no napoli sauce if any, hardly any coleslaw just a lot of chips. I was not satisfy with my meal and had a large amount of food wasted. My husband had the pork spare ribs! OMG amazing! There is plenty of parking at the back of hotel & on the side. No table service, I would suggest having a bar tab & paying just before you leave due to card fees etc. staff are friendly & prompt making sure our table was always clean. I found the seating squashy, to close to other diners. Definitely try look around for better seating tables & away if you want private.
B. L.
Had a really enjoyable steak meal with all the trimmings. It's good value for money and a great place to meet up with family and friends!
A. T.
We got in just in time for last order. Kitchen closes at 9pm. The hotel closes at 11pm acording to Google. The steaks were not seasoned well enough so it tasted quite bland which was disappointing since they were top quality steaks. It started to rain and we tried to grab the attention of any staff member to close the tarp roof that looked like it could controlled with a switch. Eventually moved ourselves to another table since no one looked our way and no one was around the dining area. Might just be because the restaurant had closed so if you want good service, get in earlier (and pray your steaks are seasoned properly).
A. D.
Best steaks in Brisbane. Service is pretty good as well. Go early if you want to avoid the crowds as its pretty popular. Only thing they could do better is to offer a vegetables option with the steaks instead of only doing salad and bread roll.
D. M.
Service was quick and friendly. The food was cooked perfectly and came out in a very timely manner.
J. B.
Went there for dinner last night with my son, my son's steak was ready before my caesar salad, they kept the steak warm whilst they got my salad ready, then my salad was delivered to the wrong table and then they forgot to bring out my son's steak. Service definately is not as good as it used to be.
T. B.
The Norman hotel is Brisbane's worst vegitarian restaurant. They have a great selection of meats for meals with fresh vegetables and salads available. The bar is very capable of meeting your alcohol requirements with cocktails, jugs, beers, spirits and wines all Available for purchase. The prices vary considerably from $30 to $60 for a meal. While drinks from $8-$990.
A great venue for groups and friends to get together. They don't have table service.
C. B.
Good menu for steaks and a good atmosphere. Some good choice of beers on tap, maybe some more local breweries brews on tap would be great or it might have just been my timing. Anyway good food and drinks!
M.
I was at The Norman on a Saturday afternoon with more than a dozen or so fellas and the service was outstanding (they knew their stuff) the food was delicious and we just had to ask what the dressing was on the salad. (they were generous enough to give us a some hints of what was in it!). The group were seated in the Longhorn Room and I had Filet Mignon. (hadn't had it in years). It was memorable, cooked to perfection and I have told anyone who will listen about it. Great selection of wines and the bar staff were knowledgeable and thankfully had some personality. The whole table left full and totally satisfied. While every venue has room for improvement and innovation, it was a fantastic experience and I will be again back soon.
s. r.
Melbournian visiting Brisbane, here.
Usually not a big fan of steaks but got pulled into this restaurant by my cousin and now lets say, steaks are my favourite. The pepper sauce on the steak, white rabbit beer dark ale and the medium done steak melting in my mouth. That was one lunch to remember. Highly recommended. Will visit again next time i am in Brisbane.
R. C.
The mini eye fillet was flavourful, juicy and tender. And the garden salad and coleslaw was yummy too.
K. H.
Nice dinner. But steak a little bit dry.
I. C.
Wonderful steak meal, busy atmosphere even after 3:00 pm mid week. The taste and quality of the entire experience will remain long after the price is forgotten.
S. E.
Food was average however wait staff made experience acceptable. Notable service by Ellouise who went above and beyond to fix our concerns.
S. R.
Great meal, best eat out meal I've had in a long time.,.. thank you. Just ask the waiters to slow down, hard to relax when staff are and look stressed ( management problem)
Great feed
M. S.
What can I say. We keep going back again and again & again...Steaks are great and the service and staff are even better. Thank you to the Norman Hotel and their staff for looking after us such as Andrew, Julia, Frank, Lucy, Denise, Aiden. And everyone else that works there that I have not mentioned.
Michael & Joanna Spyro.
J. H.
The best steak in town
P. D.
Decor was inviting and comfortable, a bit hard to find a smile on any of the waiters, I think the food should have had table service, seen alot of confusion over meals as people collected them and trays of food and plates stacked on top other food, hard to carry without dropping something.
Food was good but nothing to rave about.
G. A.
Nice place. Great steak selection. Really good food. Didn't wait long for food after ordering. Good variety and quality beer on tap. Great historical pub. I'll be back soon.
P. J.
As they say "The Worst Vegetarian Hotel" !!! Steaks cooked to order, from rump to fillet mignon, tasty side dishes served with meal. BUT their stuff potatoes are to die for, want the recipe for the mincey topping.
Very popular, if more than 2 of you, recommend booking. Have huge umbrella covered outside area, and an inside dining and bar area.
Very popular, especially when a major sporting event is on the TV.
Parking limited, but good local transport outside the door, if you choose to imbibe a few drinks.
Highly recommend if you're looking for a great steak.
A. W.
Brisbane worst vegetarian restaurant lives up to its name. It is a bit pricey for lunch. However if your looking for meat meat or meat then this is your place as tgere is a wide selection available. Service is good. However everytime i visit there are flies which can be annoying. Overall a good dining experience.
P. F.
Spent a great couple of hours on the BBQ course. Good company and learnt a lot about cooking steaks on the grill. Satisfaction in the end result. Try it out or come and enjoy the chef cooking a great steak for you.
P. A.
Great steak meals with great atmosphere. Book in though can get really busy expecially Friday night and weekends and when a game is on at the gabba. Plenty of parking. Pokies. Great range of drinks. Kid friendly. Wheelchair friendly. Take your mates or family their. They will be impressed. Did i mention great steaks.
L. M.
Came in for dinner and had a wonderful experience thanks to our server Pip. The food was exceptional but still second to the service she gave my partner and I for our special night out.
J. W.
If you want a good steak in Brisbane... This is the place to go. Have been going for years and will continue to go as long as the quality keeps up.
You have to line up to make your order and they give you a buzzer. Once the buzzer goes off you have to go to the counter and pick up all your meals.
They have a couple of beautiful beer gardens and a pretty funky inside bar. They also have a front section for the folk who want to have a beer and a punt.
Reservations are recommended for busy nights. Especially if something is on at the Gabba.
T. R.
Steak choice 10/10, steak cooking skills 10/10, chips 6/10 quantity a little low. Atmosphere 8/10, Price 7/10 overall great place. Keep up the great work
R. M.
Came here for my husband's 60th birthday surprise lunch. We had booked this great room aside , airconditioned, no hire fee and he had the best birthday. Staff was great and the event/venue manager was great with communication. The food was beautiful and very tasty and plenty of it. Highly recommend!
A. B.
We always have a great feed and fantatic time at the Norman. Staff are always helpful.
J. W.
The beer garden is reeeeeal pretty with the trees and lights everywhere. The bistro bar has a nice atmosphere at night and there was some good drink specials. Food wasn't bad, pretty pricey though
S. R.
Great atmosphere and nice food, the only small issue is the steak that looks burnt sometimes and not cooked in a consistantly way. Reckon they probably need to give those grill racks a good clean every now and then:)
A. R.
Excellent food, beverages and service. We absolutely love dinning at the Norman Hotel. It has the best steak in Brisbane. There is a huge drinks selection and the service is fantastic. There are some fantastic function rooms.
P. M.
Very busy hotel with plenty of different areas to enjoy yourself.
From the gaming room to the sports bar and the amazing restaurant to the beer garden it is definitely a great place to dine with family and relax with friends.
If you get the chance to go I'd highly recommend it.
The prices are attractive and the staff are fantastic, with table service and big meals it's not far from the gabba and just north of Annerley.
J. S.
Solid offering of steak cooked to order, a good range of non-steak options, and a well-chosen wine list. Beers and alternative drinks aplenty. A little on the pricey side, however.
P. W.
The internal fit out is really nice - it felt much nicer than the traditional hotel/pub. There are lots of different places to sit - inside there is nice cool air-con, and outside there is lots of space to chat with a big group of friends. The schooner I got was also $6 which is a bloody steal.
Z. C.
Good venue. Friendly staff. I had the 400g rump with salad and bernaise. A pint of Guinness. A good way to have a lunch with mates. 😊
R. C.
Ever reliable. Great steak, good atmosphere, good service and decent beer
S. B.
Steaks are good .... And keep getting better.... And even better... it's close to the Gabba!
M. F.
Have had far better meals there in the past. This time my medium rump steak complete with its little stick that had medium on it, had not the slightest hint of pink in it, she was dead Jim. The wifes steak T bone was under done for her liking with hints of pink, when she prefers it cremated. The kitchen forgot one bread roll on one meal and the sauce for another. All fixed with a smile from an extremely embarrassed chef. But they were off their game on this occasion. We will probably give em another chance at some stage but it will be a while before we do. It was just disappointing.
P. H.
Awesome steaks as usual. Cooked perfectly and sides were on point. Great atmosphere
S. B.
Super awesome food, good service. Food came out at a reasonable time. My partner and i will definitely be going back. First couple times was very good too 👌🏼
E. B.
Very disappointed with meal last night. Asked for medium cooked steak came out closer to well done and very chewy. No dressing on coleslaw. If I go back I won't be ordering steak.
S. A.
3 star at 5 star prices. The meat was very good but the rest was just pub fodder. No service you have to line up to order and go and collect meals.
S. L.
Can't say this place is amazing - we had a late change of venue therefore not reading any reviews beforehand. We luckily ordered before a lunch rush (12:30pm) as the ordering queue ended up to the entrance of the restaurant. We decided to order non steak meals, not the smartest move it seemed, as the fish and chicken meals were quite average, decent portions though. The noise of the ceiling fans in the al fresco dining area distorted the music, also due to the limited table service we had to collect our meals and take the tray back - I understand if it was a small country pub but a place of this popularity should at least drop the meals to our table. In the end we were quite glad to leave. Also didn't see the point of the bread roll, our meals were more than enough and it kind of made it feel like an aeroplane meal! Not surprised this place currently has a 3.2/5 rating.
H. M.
The food was great but the cranky rude lady behind the bar had the worst customer service I have ever encountered in my life. The lady(elderly for clarification) was working at the bar on Thursday night, 21 April 2016 at 7 pm which was my birthday and before my encounter with her, i have had a perfect day. I didn't allow myself to let her spoil it for me but she needs to go back where she was taught customer service to improve her attitude and manners. I hope management sees this review and talk to her about customer service. Long story short, I ordered a cocktail, was about to pay and realized I didnt have my card on me. My husband was making our food order ( the food which was awesome by the way) and he had the card, so I apologized to her and told her I had to wait for my husband to come back and buy my drink. There were two other customers behind me, so I stood aside so the other customers could proceed with ordering and the bar lady completely lost it and started making very unpleasant faces at me while saying something I didn't even understand. Her behavior was soo appalling and me and the two other customers looked at each other and shook our heads. She then went on to say * I am only one of me you know* , like I had a say in making that decision. I was about to loose it but I managed to keep my cool. She wasn't worth it. The cocktail which I paid $25 for ( meant to be three standard drinks) had a lot of pineapple juice or some juice in it and no alcohol at all. I was very disappointed with that bartender and the cocktail. The steak was great though.
S. J.
Booked online and scored a table after graduation. Happening place. Great steaks...filet mingnon. Great way to finish the night.
G. D.
Best steak I have had. Couldn't recommend the Texas T-Bone enough, amazing!
A. H.
Been there with my family, nice atmosphere and food. Didn’t mind the cost. Recently went again with a friend, waiter just walks straight pass you when seeing you wanted to ask for orders and spoke to another waiter to service us. Thought that was very unprofessional that a place like Norman hotel would provide service to their customer. Have to reconsider on coming again if it’s no longer friendly.
S. J.
The Norman Hotel is one of my favourite places to eat. Food is always fantastic and we look forward to our regular visits.

Great oysters. 9 guests 8 steaks and 1 lamb equals 9 happy guests. Norman never disappoints. If you have never been...you need to add the norman to your bucket list

Overall - Average.
Spent 40 minutes in a line - which went past the ladies toilet and out the front doors - to order (which is classy). Then waited over an hour for the food to be ready to collect. Several other people in our party who ordered before us got their food after us and had to actually go and see the kitchen staff to find out where their meals were. Perhaps bigger trays (or smaller, lighter plates) are needed as 3 heavy plates balancing on top of one another on a tiny tray being carried by patrons is a recipe for disaster. The food - when we eventually did get it - was good. However, we had a large group of people who hardly got to see one another before the night was over due to waiting in line for so long to order and then all eating at different times. I suggest canning the whole 'stand in line and collect your own order' thing and actually using waiters and wait staff to take orders at the tables so people can stay together and actually see each other. Doing the 'line up and collect yourself' thing might work at the Brekky Creek Hotel because they actually have the room for it, and seem to be more efficient at taking the orders and getting them out - but while the staff were friendly, the slow service was a real turn-off and will make me seriously reconsider ever going there again which is a shame. Oh, and no where near enough parking! We arrived before 7pm and had to park over the hill!

Great atmosphere, several areas to dine, good for small, mid, large and family groups. Menu and drinks selection is varied, steak is always cooked as requested, very hospitable staff.

A bit pricey, but expected for the steak selection. A bit crowded and noisy inside. The outside tables are pleasant if the weather permits. Service time was ok, but not as fast as expected, as we got there very early for the dinner service. The car park fills up pretty easily, so get there early.

Got a Chicken Parma, it was good but chicken could have been a bit more moist, other then that, the chips were great, the salad refreshing and overall a tasty meal that I was happy to go out for. Service was good, friendly staff, and a nice setting; good atmosphere.

Went to the Gin dinner, food was amazing and was very informative and entertaining (delicious cocktails)

Great steaks, good service and excellant beer selection.Parking can be an issue from time to time primarily weekends and AFL Nights.sesting selection of Garden, Sports bar and large seperate covered area. All in all well worth the visit.

So so. Very busy and lost the sense of quality. Had a better steak at the pub up the road. Food and drinks are way over priced for what you get. Please improve the quality or lower your prices accordingly.

The Norman has to be one of the better steak houses and pubs on the south side of the river. Great steak selection, you can have a 600g monster rump and the food comes out pretty quick.
J.
Great steak, was quite a large meal and the bread roll was delicious. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff, I would definately come back here for a steak!

Hi Guys - Thank you for a memorable evening last Friday evening in the Angus and Brahman Rooms. Raeleigh (hope we have spelt this correct) was wonderful, professional, efficient, friendly and
proactive. The meals were spot on as usual, you get what you pay for......Thank you also to the team who arranged the rooms etc, very professional and a continual line of communication - Well done guys - Thank you - Anthony, Andrea and Georgia.........................

Great steakhouse in Brisbane with a wonderful wine list and local and imported beer on draught. For the price, they should serve you at your table and not make you pick up your food at the window.
K. L.
I dine here regularly and always know the steak will be on point! Nice and tender and always satisfied afterwards. The staff are nice and friendly and I will continue to return!

It is our family tradition of Father's Day at The Norman, and yet again they have not failed us!! Food and service was wonderful, thank you muchly!
C. T.
Wonderful steaks with reasonable price. -1 star as servicing could be better. Otherwise would recommend everyone to come have a try
Z. V.
Had our wedding reception in the beer garden and it was amazing. Their event planner was so helpful and accomodating and the food was amazing. Highly recommend for holding an event here.
D. G.
The food and service were great. Lucy was the manager and she looked after us very well. Highly recommend.
P. D.
Certainly not a cheap place with most prime cuts being 35 to 50 bucks for the top Wagyu 4+ marble but it's all quality..
Most other items on the menu are above average on price but it's quailty again.
Garlic bread.. gotta try it.. !!
Drinks: spirits are reasonably priced and there are a number of boutique beers on tap.
I've never meet a grumpy waiter / waitress and will always try to find a free table if you haven't booked.
Kitchen staff, cooks, prepers, need to have a pat on thier backs, they are clock work!
Highly recommended... 👍

Large portion sizes, good range of beers. Gets crowded early and stays that way most nights. Steaks start at $30 and go up to $50. Other pub classics hover around the mid $20 mark.
S. B.
Great venue, and amazing staff! Would highly recommend the Steak Master Cooking Class. Learnt so much and got to eat steak!
K. N.
Every time I come here for the wagyu, it doesnt dissapoint.
Its hard to screw up a cut of wagyu but some other places somehow do. Norman does it well and 5 stars from me. Service is generally quick even when packed and the overall experience is very nice.
A. H.
Food was great but the service was weird. The waiter came to take our order but gave us a sheet to write down what we wanted and then came back to collect. No idea why a waiter sound come up in the first place if this is what they do. Not really good service.
S. R.
Great steak, the best in Brisbane. Make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Beautiful garden dining and a cocktail bar to top off the evening.
F. M.
Still talking about...dreaming about, the Five Founders T-bone I ate here a few weeks back. I saw it in the cabinet and it tasted as awesome as it looked. Flavour turned up.
C. H.
Haven't been for over a year and sadly we all felt that things weren't up to the standard they used to be. Seemed understaffed or inexperienced staff. Table only half cleared - after 30 minutes we did the rest ourselves.
D. J.
Decent food for a hotel, took a long time to come out. Multiple bars with different beers available. One near food ordering has the most beer options
S. M.
Great sized meals. Good cuts of meat. Cooked to perfection. Excellent overall experience
R. T.
Love the steaks. Just have your order ready when you get to the counter and make sure everyone in your table is together. Split bills are no problem.
P. K.
Very nice steak. Beer selection was ok. Beer garden is very hot in summer.
B. B.
Great steaks! Good beer, wine and whiskey selection! Very friendly and helpful staff. Not enough parking for busy evenings though.
P. S.
Best steak house in brisbane
M. C.
Yeah great steaks and all; who doesn't enjoy picking their steak from a glass cabinet! But it has the atmosphere of last year's birthday balloons. In summer, only the pokie room is nice and cold, but then you realise you're in a pokie room hanging out because it's hot anywhere else and you ate already and it's time to leave...
H. P.
Good place to meet up with friends for drinks and a meal. The steaks are delicious and huge! A good selection of beers on the tap as well.
D. M.
Had the large rib fillet with chilli sauce and roast potato, it was excellent, purficlly cooked and good sauce. Killpatric oysters were great aswell
M. G.
The Norman is a family favourite for us. Always guaranteed a great meal. Whether it be a steak, barramundi, ribs or the caesar salad with calamari. Love them all!
D. D.
Pretty standard pub steak. Not as good as Breakfast Creek. My eye fillet was pretty dry.
Edit: My wife had the small eye fillet
A. W.
Best steaks in Brisbane, very nice seating areas as well, a mix of indoor, beer garden and partially covered areas. Meals are a little pricy, but are very good.
R. R.
Hits the mark. Massive selection of steaks and cooked really well. As expected, it can be pretty busy game day but there is plenty of room
R. T.
Always crowded (book a table) and always great steaks. Great steaks. Leave your vegetarian friends at subway and come here for their gorgeous steaks and a pint.
A. M.
Great night out with friends. Good place to eat and have a chat.
J. L.
I bring everyone here. It's my "go to" for lunches and dinners. It's got a great atmosphere, food is terrific (if you're not a vegetarian/vegan), the staff are very friendly and helpful and the prices and serving portions are reasonable as well.
T. H.
Great place. Make sure you try the steak. Staff were friendly and helpful as well.
M. B.
Great food always love a good steak from the local however seems a little overpriced for a steak. Good good wont disappoint.
M.
Awesome steaks. Covid-19 restrictions suck
E. E.
A good steak place. Table service would be better tho, a table tablet ordering system would be ideal for this kind of place. Other wise good atmosphere and fun place for a steak with mates
C. L.
Good food, extremely busy and that was on a Tuesday night.
A.
We ordered the same two steaks. My wifes was ok but mine was realy tough and over cooked. So disapointed.
H. K.
Good steaks overall. However mine was a bit overcooked. I ordered a medium to well cooked steak but it was almost well done.

We recently held our daughter's 21st at the Norman Hotel. We had visited many venues around Brisbane but chose The Norman because of the tasteful renovated decor and the Function Manager Elise. Elise was professional, accomodating and understood what we wanted. The function was held upstairs in the elegant Angus, rooms,, a large room and a separate sitting room. Elise organised the layout of the rooms perfectly. The food, drinks and the staff on the night were excellent, a very successful enjoyable party, would recommend the Norman to those planning a function. Again thank you Elise and The Norman staff for such a special, , memorable night..

i enjoyed my meal iv'e been where twice now and it was good both times. its a good price and very generous portions. will attend this place again.
T. C.
Well, this was unexpectedly amazing. Never a fan of counter service. But this was worth it and we're already planning our next visit. Yum!
K. H.
This place is 100% value for money. Fantastic venue, friendly service, and ample parking makes for a great lunch and dinner location. Make sure you pick your own meat!
T. K.
The ambience in the garden bar is lovely with the fairy lights and plants. The meals are massive and delicious. My only gribe would be the wine is expensive.
A. T.
The steak was that good even my 'want-a-be' vegetarian daughter loved it. Good service and atmosphere.
Ł. J. C.
The food was Okay food. A bit pricey. It was a confusing way to order.
J. P.
Very nice atmosphere; excellent service; great food - qualify their statement of being the worst vegetarian restaurant in town with superbly prepared steaks.
S. N.
Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Lovely outdoor eating area. Even though I am vegetarian still found tasty choices.
S. P.
Excellent experience for steak...i went to a cow carve up! Unusual but great information about meat cuts and done live which was a different experience! Well done
D. S.
Very nice steak but the salad was just rocket so you would make so much money with the servings you give I would say you make 200 percent on each meal smart business people
N. N.
I had the best steak here, I reccomend you to go and try it. It's best if you pick your own.... its juicy to good.
D. T.
As always this hotel is good, and for hosting events it was especially great, the finger food was awesome and the staff on the day were real good as well.... Great work guys, it is a no wonder you were voted Brisbane's worst Vegetarian place :)
K. A.
Great service. Great food. Very professional. Expect a full-on beef menu, although other fine options are available.
K. W.
Great steaks, good ambience, wonderful staff..... Always a treat
R. C.
Service is lovely and the steak is great. The outside seating is beautiful.
M. A.
It was one of the best nights ever family had a ball u can not forget the food the steaks were really well done the customer service was great as we had one girl ask us about our day and ask us as how we would get home and make a little joke once and a while but also the bread is the best I have ever had only if guys did a bakerie I would buy bread from us all the time me and my family love it thanks for the good food and services
G. W.
Went for lunch. Awesome steaks. Had the 200g midi steak with salad and chips. Fantastic service!
C. C.
Great steak, good atmosphere, good service and cold beer
J. B.
Top Brisbane steak venue with lovely outdoor area, good service and great steaks.
G. S.
Food was great but the wait was too long, table of 8 and 4 meals came after the other 4 had finished their meal. Other than that it was a great lunch
I. T.
Great place for carnivores. Steak etc cooked to perfection. Fish was cooked beautifully as well. Not so great for vegetarians 🙄
C. E.
Had the 450gram rump and felt it was cooked to perfection. I went on a Sunday night and had to wait for around 30 minutes which wasn't bad for a Sunday night!
D. W.
Pricey meals, but you get what you pay for in terms of quality and the cooking of the meat is always spot on. Because the food is so good it is always pretty busy, or completely packed
N. C.
Good variety of local and craft beers. Great beer garden. Meals were large and of reasonable quality for the price.
R. H.
A good solid meal with surprisingly good steak. A bit over priced for what ir is, but still worth an occasional visit.
J. S.
Many visits here over the years. Everyone knows this is one of the best pubs to have a steak at in Brisbane.
J. P.
Food and steaks were ok. The table service and hosts are seriously need to reconsider their attitudes towards customers! Very poor customer service!!
A. H.
They certainly live up to their slogan! Great selection of meat cuts, cooked to perfection with some classic home style sides.
D. D.
No question best steak we have ever had! Why have I not been here before 🤔 our only stop for steak now on!
