A great New Year’s Day lunch had amongst a group of friends and myself here. It was many of our first visits and won’t be our last that’s for sure. The customer service was impeccable from the get go - from pre booking communication all the way through to exiting our dine in. We ordered a range of dishes including the calamari, cassava fries, lamb shank, paella (pictured) and more. Every dish was flavourful and paired nicely with the delicious cocktails on offer. Only things would be perhaps a little more generous with the portions but I do understand that this is the essence of finer dining. Can’t wait to visit again and try more dishes. Hoping I can go back on a sunnier day to enjoy the outside atmosphere.

This restaurant has become our all time fave. We love the staff and they love us. The views are spectacular, as was proven again on NYE 2021/22. We often visit for an Estrella on tap with or without tapas at the end of our long walk along the Brisbane river. We took our nephew for his 17th birthday;. celebrated the end of our annual dry month and last night the beginning of the new year. The menu serves cervece, oysters, tapas, salads, sea food, grill and paellas. The wine menu is extensive enough to pick a good pairing with the food. Let the photos and videos speak for themselves. Gorgeous restaurant, beautiful views, customer service was to standard. Food was delicious. Very full afterwards and we were a party of 4 that shared our sides, more than enough food for everyone. The Malbec paired perfectly with the steak ordered 🍷👌🏾 Everything was great except the food did take a little longer than usual. We booked for 12:15 and didn’t leave till about 2pm, being a work lunch this was a challenge.

What a great restaurant! This was my first time here since the space has been transformed into Rico! We came here as a big group from a friend’s birthday lunch and it was pure joy to dine here. The staff are super friendly & professional, the venue has a great view & vibe plus the food was a delicious fusion of Spanish/Australian which is easily shared or eaten on its own. I would highly recommend book in especially if you have a yen for seafood. I’ll be back!

Great views, waiter was excellent. Main meals were excellent flavours. The tapas/small plates portions were way too small and lacked seasoning and flavour. The green salad was really sparse and boring. No flavour at all 😐 Desserts , wine and tequila were very good.

We loved all the tapas, the octopus is so full of flavor and the bug brioche is a MUST HAVE. The seafood paella is ok, not great but nothing wrong with it. The portion is generous and seafood is very fresh. I feel it’s probably needs to be cooked a bit longer to get the crispy bottom, also the flavor is mild, which suits most people but slightly lacking of a kick! The espresso martini is delicious. Wine list is comprehensive. We had creme brûlée for dessert which is 10/10. The service is fabulous. The waiter we had was super friendly, hospitable and full of knowledge. Great view, great food and great service!

Myself and 2 friends had a wonderful dinner here 2 days ago. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the view was amazing! Big call out to David our waiter. He was friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we had everything we wanted!

We had a 70th birthday dinner in the private dining room. The food was divine, and venue perfect! There were a couple of mishaps along the way (dining room wasn’t ready on arrival and spilt drinks on guests) but the team more than made up for it. There’s a minimum spend for the room that we would’ve easily reached with our 28 guests, however with Covid border restrictions we only had 22, the team were understanding and lowered our minimum spend. To top it off our waiter offered to box up our left overs so we could take home. This is fantastic! I hate seeing waste. Everyone had a fabulous time, and all commented on how delicious the food was. A wonderful restaurant in a fabulous location. The team members were very friendly and helpful providing a great ambience. The paella was what we came for and we were very impressed with the quality and preparation of the time honoured dish. The oysters too were lush, plump and superb, so fresh. Always love the experience at Rico’s. One of the best customer service, and to top it off, the food is delicious at its finest. Unfortunately, all three of the steak we ordered came quite Rare even though we ordered Medium Rare. But hopefully, that was just a one off. :)

Had lunch here yesterday. The service was impeccable from start to finish (thanks Peter). The layout of the restaurant is beautiful - nice open space with picturesque views of the Brisbane River. Good selection of meat and seafood options (I had the mussels - ''Olla de Mejillones''). I would've loved to have tried the Octopus y Chorizo but unfortunately not enough stomach room. I will definitely be back!

The quality of the food was amazing and Rico has the service to match. All of the waiting staff we so lovely and attentive. Great casual fine dining location facing the beautiful Brisbane river and has a elegant feel to its interior. One can opt to sit outside as well and you will be met with a great pier view! We went to Rico for my mums birthday lunch! I booked online and advised the staff it was for a birthday celebration! We were sat at a table overlooking the River (beautiful) The food was fantastic along with the cocktails! What made the experience of dining at Rico one of our favorite, was our waiter Matt, he provided exceptional service and food recommendations! He even organized a special desert With a sparkler for my mums birthday! She was so touched by the whole experience! Matt went above and beyond to make this a wonderful lunch! Our second time visiting Rico's and we absolutely loved every aspect of our experience. This time we brought our 2 tweens who were treated beautifully by the staff (thanks especially to Corey!!) and now they are keen to return for the next special event! Great location, nice atmosphere. The mains rack of lamb was very tender and big enough for my wife and I to share. The side of cauliflower complemented the dish well. We also enjoyed the octopus tapas. The empanadas were quite plain, i wouldn't order that again. Overall we enjoyed it, but some dishes are a miss.

We are new to Brisbane and we were looking for a restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We went for some drinks and appetiser. Everything including the service was exceptional. Went here for my wife's birthday dinner. Amazing food and amazing staff. We shared a mixed tropical ceviche which was fantastic and plentiful. We then ordered the Banquete Menu One option and my goodness! The amount of food we were presented with exceeded our expectations! In no way did we think we would be getting full menu sized items as part of this. It was absolutely hands down the best value for our dinner. Thank again to the staff there it was fantastic!

Our group of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Rico's. One of our diners said the Oyster platter were the best Oysters he's ever had! The food was superb, my steak was cooked to perfection. The view of the river and Story Bridge are amazing and the staff attentive and friendly.

New restaurant on Eagle street. Nice contemporary decor and great food. We had the eggplant tapas and calamari tapas followed by the fillet steak. Eggplant was amazing. Steak was also top notch and arguably better than Cha Cha Char which is just across from this place. Despite the great food, they seemed to be bedding down some teething issues with respect to service. Host wasn’t very good, we had two service people one good other not, and the table next to us had to deal with water dripping on their table from the air con vent. Hopefully they sort out their service as the food at this place is great.

I have a couple of favourite restaurants but thought I'd try Rico's . Wow !!! So glad I did, apart from the extensive beautiful enticing menu, we then had the fantastic experience of our waiter, who not only had to move us to another table (few noisy long lunch groups) and not a problem but continually watching his tables to make sure we did not have to ask him for anything, a wonderful old fashioned expert. Then the food, well I'm picky, I send back any food that is not up to standard, I sent back NOTHING!! Just simply delicious. I will be telling my travel blog about this place as it is now my fav. Ambience was inviting, comfortable, with beautiful views, everyone was on task and busy being the best waitstaff I have experienced in a long time. An amazing location and incredible food. Rico make a killer Amaretto Sour and have a great menu of tapas for lunch. We indulged in 6 kinda of oysters (natural, pepino, mignonette, frambuesa, gaspacho caviar and kilpatrick), chargrilled bone marrow on crispy croutons and Rico’s signature tapa - bugs brioche, lettuce, lime and chilli aioli.

If you are looking for a negative in all this - while seeking feedback after the experience was appreciated, having to work through an email address, passwords and 2FA just to leave feedback is tedious. In our last post we said that the music was too loud but last Saturday it was at the right level. We attended Rico’s on Saturday for a 6.15pm table as we were celebrating my daughters birthday. I have not attended the venue before and my first impression walking through the doors and being attended to by the maître d' was this is going to be a lovely experience. My wife and myself were shown to our window table with very impressive views of the Storey bridge and river. My son, daughter and their partners were running late and so we made our apologise to our amazing, attentive waitress who made no dramas out of the situation. I ordered Empandas that were served with sour cream and my wife ordered the Gambas. I cannot be critical of the Empandas as this was my first experience with the dish, but it was hot on arrival seemed to be as described by our waitress The gambas were good but maybe a little too much oil. Morton bay bug, Olives and Pork belly were the other items ordered and every one seemed perfectly happy with there choice. From the mains menu I ordered the 200g min 70 day grain fed Darling Downs ‘British bred’ cattle eye fillet and my wife ordered the Pork cutlet. Unfortunately this is where we go down hill. The steak was served probably a good five minutes before the arrival of the Paella dish orders by my daughter which was a little disappointing but acceptable as it was peak time and the restaurant was almost at capacity. The 200g eye fillet was actually two 100g eye fillets which from experience normally means the tail end. The steak was presented cold and came with a pepper corn sauce (also cold) the steak certainly didn’t come from the pan in an acceptable time and didn’t even feel like it had been under the heat lamps. My first bite had to be removed quite embarrassingly from my mouth as I’m not a fan of sinuet. The steak came with a side of chips that were piping hot and I did like the idea of a sprinkling of Paprika. I know your thinking I should have told the waitress about the cold steak but I didn’t want to spoil the birthday atmosphere and by the time the second steak would have arrived I would have been eating alone. To be honest, I was very disappointed and know they serve a nicer steak at my local tavern. My wife was also disappointed with the pork cutlet, but my son, daughter and their partners seemed happy enough with their Paella and vegan dishes. Coffee also came presented cold, but by this time I had had enough and informed the waitress who kindly just replaced them for us. All in all, as this is my review I have to say I was very disappointed in the food, which let’s be honest, that’s why we’re there. I loved the restaurant lay out, the ambiance and our waitress was lovely and that is why they have given Rico’s 3 Stars otherwise I’m afraid food wise it would have been between 1.5 and a 2. I hope this review helps visitors but mainly the head chef and his/her kitchen staff. Andy.

We had the seafood and meat paella. The meat is paella is really flavoural, seafood one not so much (very fresh seafood though!). Staff are really nice and friendly, although please inform them how to hold plates they are serving with food- all waiters had their fingers inside the plates of the dishes they were serving. Great food, and a lovely server, but 2 hours is simply not enough to be able to enjoy a three course meal. We had a rushed and unpleasant ending to what should have been a lovely evening and dinner. We were asked if we would like to move to an outside table (on a very chilly night) to have our dessert after ordering and being told it should be ok beforehand. This 2 hour window puts undue pressure on diners and the serving staff, particularly when your kitchen can't match the needed tempo, and we were only a table of two. Perhaps you should either ask people to order desserts in advance, or simply state straight out you are two courses only on Friday and Saturday nights. Again, lovely food, staff and setting, but if you cannot service a three course meal in two hours, then maybe you shouldn't offer three courses at all.

Booked for dinner at 8pm last night with my partner. Was very disappointed with the experience overall. I ordered the Striploin steak and it was a very poor cut. My partner had the whole baby squid which was nice and the sides of cauliflower, pumpkin and mushrooms were lovely. Staff were friendly however we were overcharged by $56 for a bottle of wine we did not have. We picked up on this luckily and it was taken off from the bill and when the steak feedback was given to the waitress who organised a discount from that order. Our dining experience at Rico exceeded our expectations. As you would expect, the food was beautiful. What surprised me is that for the central city location, the high-end restaurant design and decor, and the quality knowledgeable wait staff, the prices of the meals were lower than what I expected. The oysters were absolutely fresh, The muscles are a dish that can’t be passed by, and the steak my husband had was presented most beautifully and said it was one of the best he’s had. I would also go as far to say that the wait service we experienced was the best in our 20 years of dining in Brisbane, our waiter was exceptional. If I had to make one observation it would be around the ceviche, I prefer it traditionally diced, rather than sliced but that is a pure personal choice. Beyond five stars all the way. Disappointing experience. -We went with a large group (8) of people and ordered the banquet ($70pp). -While the food was fresh and tasty it wasn't exactly inspiring; the dishes often felt incredibly basic and underwhelming. -The staff were friendly but not prompt; waiting >30min for a second round of drinks. -Most disappointing was the excessive gouging: -7% surcharge on weekends, 20% surcharge on public holidays! -We requested extra bread, receiving 8 slices at an astonishing price of $16! ($2 a slice!) Unfortunately I don't think myself or anyone in the party will be returning.

Marginally controlled chaos, is the only way to describe the "front of house" disorganised staff. Once finally seated and assigned a lovely waitress, things slowly took a turn for the better. I had high expectations given the number of four and five star reviews. The service and the food wasn’t really up to my expectations. We ordered the bug brioche and the cauliflower florets. The bug came and looked like something you’d order at McDonald’s. Florettes were pretty ordinary and a bit oily and the sauce was way too sweet. Next we had seafood paella. This was cooked well, unfortunately the black muscles had hardly any meat in them the prawns were partially overcooked and we’re not deviened. Table service was friendly but was not very professional, the waitress had someone in training and they didn’t even wipe down the tables between courses. Sorry for you guys in Brisbane if you think this is a really top class restaurant Come to Canberra you’ll find better.

Waitress was very nice but when I ask for tapas to be staggered when they came out as it was a cold day & we didn’t want the food to get cold. Oysters & bugs came out first then everything else came out together. I guess she didn’t understand me. So we had to eat very quickly and some food were cold by the time we got to it. Prices were ok. Location is 5 stars right on the river with perfect view. Probably won’t be returning anytime soon. Should have gone to Madame Wu, would have gotten better food for a little bit more money.

Oh my. The welcome left a lot to be desired, standing at the door awkwardly. Shown to our table, staff were all really pleasant!!! They really were. They just really need further training! Our entrees came out and our wine was missing which multiple staff kept telling us. The "Spanish" meat plate was more cos lettuce halfs, with some salami and what I think was parma not Iberico. Served with stale cashew nuts.... and grey caramelised onions. Olives lovely, ceveche which is more a Latino sample rather than Spanish was lacking. I appreciated the leche de tigre served on the side. The cut was not ceveche, rather tiradito. The calamari and emapandas are fine. The prawns were not good and one mouthful filled your mouth with a bisque like aroma of pungent crustacean shell. The waitress handled our concern marvellously! Concerned enough, without making it a big deal. Didn't charge us for it and provided a cheeseplate as a sorry (although the stale cashews reappeared here also). The tables outside have slits in them that allow for wine glasses to fall into them. Not good when your companion is on the sherries. I really liked our staff! The food was disappointing! 3 stars are for the service.

My husband and I went today for a lunch to celebrate our 1st year in Australia. We were warmly welcomed by Joao ao the bar, who took us to Julia, our waitress, at our table. The table had a beautiful view, perfect choice. The restaurant was almost full, but Julia was very attentive. She told us a little abourlt Rico restaurant, its history and how wonderful the meats and seafood were. We did a usual choice of meat and she suggested the rib on the bone, one of her favorites. My husband followed her suggestion and loved the meat. Also, she suggested pairing that meat with chimichurri sauce and that was a match made in heaven. I'm positive when I said that her suggestions improved our experience at Rico. She went to our table minutes after the food arrived to make sure we enjoyed the meat she suggested. At the begging, when we arrived, we mentioned that we were celebrating our 1st year in Australia to Julia, and at the end our check came with a little message from Julia, congratulating us for this accomplishment. That was a very nice touch! She also showed us the happy hour times and discounts during the week, and were definitely coming back. The food was amazing, as well as the environment and service! I'd like to specially thank João and Julia for serving us.

Contemporary Australian Spanish fusion with a priceless waterfront view. Had the Gambas prawns and bug brioche to start. Prawns were precisely cooked with that lovely fresh seafood texture and just the right amount of chilli. The bug brioche was the highlight though, house made brioche with a battered bug tail and several aiolis, truly incredible, must be tried. We had a seafood paella to share and a braised beef cheek for mains which were worth every cent. The beef slow cooked to perfection with a rich hearty sauce. The paella was very traditional and flavoursome, right down to the crust on the base. The love put into every step of its cooking was evident, clearly they make their own stocks and sauces from scratch, despite being reasonably busy. Genuinely enjoyed our experience and will return. Food and our waiter, Diego, were excellent. Trying to pay was very slow. I was okay with the 7% surcharge to eat on a Saturday but there was a further surcharge for every payment method that wasn't cash.
