This place is mind blowing. The food is filled with so much flavour and the cocktails are all equally tasty. I has at least 5 cocktails and couldn't fault a single one. So excited to visit again soon.

A bit on the upper price range but the staff, service and food were terrific!. The ambiance was great! Terrific tapas style cuisine, great for date nights and group gatherings. I can't recommend the pork belly enough! It was crazy good!!! Everything we ordered tasted amazing. The duck pancakes were also a delight!

What a lovely place! The service was really good, water was brought without having to be asked, the food was varied, different and delicious! Even my meat-loving dining partner got excited about the different spin on the fried tofu! We shared 5 tapas dishes and this was enough for 2 people for dinner. Reasonable wine and beer choices and a great range of Japanese drinks too. We had asked for a special table when we booked and were given a really nice booth. Love the decor too. Really worth a visit!

Great food, bit of a stuff up meal orders across table (1.5hrs before food) but also place was completely packed. Bookings recommended as is the steaming dragon cocktail to share.

Managed to get a last minute booking for dinner last night, and we loved our experience. The food and drinks were amazing, some of the best dumplings we've had, and the staff were super friendly. Keen to go back with a group next time so we can try more of the menu.

Due to covid, my birthday plans were all over the place because I didn't know what was happening with restrictions. 12 days prior to my day I've rang multiple restaurants, nobody could help and I stumble across Umami, I dealt with Jordan, he was amazing. Communication was great, he took on my table of 20. Emailed back and forth pricing picked my own meals for a banquet package. When arriving the place was clean and tidy, low lighting good vibes. The food took about 30minutes, well worth the wait, I ordered various items and not one person was disappointed with a single item. Presentation, flavours all amazing. Portions for most dishes were a fair sizing. We all tried different cocktails, most were very enjoyable. If you want to have a really well organised function with minimal effort, Umami is the place! Thank you Jordan for making my night as easy as possible!

Really nice cocktails. Tried a a few and enjoyed them all. Food was nice as well in particular the truffle chicken and the baked spanner crab and scallop. The ambience would have been much nicer but unfortunately there was a large birthday group when we were there as well. No issues with the venue but these things can impact ability to converse etc. Will be back again for a few more.cocktails

Our group of 9 showed up without reservation on a Saturday Night and they happily accommodated us. The service was excellent and the food was well priced but more importantly incredibly delicious. The drinks were good as well. I loved the ambience of the place and was pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the entire dining experience was. I highly recommend this restaurant!

One of the best modern Asian dining experiences I've ever had. We enjoyed the buffet, all of the meals tasted outstanding, were immaculately presented, and were generous portion sizes. Could barely finish our meal in the end. The dessert was amazing, and the chef took great pride in displaying and explaining it too us. Finally the cocktails were pretty damn cool, not to mention out of the ordinary twists on old classics. All in all a great dining experience keen to return soon.

How this place has a 3.9 rating is beyond me. My wife and I came here for an impromptu visit and I was impressed. We were seated immediately in a nice booth without a booking and were served promptly. My wife's bubble tea was "delicious" (her words) and my Japanese Old Fashioned was familiar but unique (I've always liked the subtle nuances of Sake). The food was absolutely fantastic. Modern Asian cuisine at its finest. Ignore the 3.9 and come here for dinner. You will not regret it.

This restaurant is amazing. Firstly, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were greeted outside by a lovely girl who then took us inside and seated us. Inside the decor is oh so kawaii, with a wall of waving maneki neko, and a mesmerizing neon sign overlooking the space. The food was also a triumph, we shared smaller plates such as popcorn chicken, mushroom dumplings, spicy chicken wings and more. It was all delicious. Wishing I had been able to sample the cocktails, but alas I was designated driver. Hoping to return soon!

The atmosphere was super fun and cute. We didn't order much food, but what we did from the drinks menu was delicious. The alcoholic bubble tea was our main reason for going but unfortunately it wasn't really what I expected and was a bit of a let down. The Pina Colada is served as a slushee and the pearls became hard and clumped together. Our main server was very friendly and attentive. The second who took our food order saw our first two guests (out of seven and had to be called back to take the rest. She was sweet but just didn't seem very confident yet! Overall it was a nice night out.

My husband and I stumbled across Umami last weekend when we were struggling to choose where to go for dinner. Winning choice I say. The staff were super friendly, cocktails awesome, food delicious (modern Asian fusion fare) and the Restuarant itself was really quite trendy. The food was delicious and the restaurant has a great modern asian atmosphere. I especially liked the poké salmon bowl and the chicken wings. The deep fried cookies and cream icecream with salted caramel sauce was the perfect dish to finish of the meal. Will definitely be coming back again. One of the best Asian restaurants in Brisbane.

The drink & Asian tapas provided at Umami was delicious! They offer Kirin Cider & Brookvale Ginger beer which are 2 of my favourite drinks. I've had a lot of fried ice-creams in my life but the salted caramel offered here is out of this world it left me in an orgasmic state!

Came in here during CNY. Basically saved my life from the muggy evening, was so hard to find a place that will accomodate a table for 1! Thank god they have aircon haha. They had a set menu for the night. Had pork bao, sweet n sour pork (i like my pork lol), steamed rice and deep fried oreo cookies n cream ice cream with salted caramel. All dishes were delicious! The waitress who served me also was friendly & made the experience worth while as well. I would definitely come back next time I am in Brisbane and try out their other meals ☺

Jordy and the team at Umami are amazing and easy to work with. Finding a venue for 35 people on a Friday night at an affordable price for uni students is no easy feat. However, Jordy made it so easy for the UQWWC to host the fancy dinner with plenty of amazing food to go around. If your looking for a place to go for a few drinks, some small share plates or a banquet for a large group look no further than Umami, you will not be disappointed!! Thank you Jordy and the team for an unforgettable night!

Friday night.....daughter's 18th birthday....tried to get into another restaurant & we all know what a preposterous LONgWAIT that is!....moseyed over to Umami and a wonderful, friendly greeting made us feel welcome from minute1.....not very busy tonight (Valley Fiesta) so had a lovely bench seat on an open table......talked the 2 sons out of a "beer tower" (pair of Maniacs) &.our ordered drinks delivered immediately and well made....we were wary of the banquet ($40 per) because birthday girl is a vegetarian but our lovely waitress said to inform her about what we enjoyed taste wise and the chefs will cater to our preferences.....glad we went this path because the food was stunning......huge variety of textures and tastes and plenty of it...the pair of Maniacs can eat a whole horse from the inside out and they were more than happy....our vegetarian loved one was catered to specifically & perfectly....beautiful just made dumplings, duck & pancakes, excellently rare grilled skirt steak, crisp side salads, lovely fried rice with perfectly accompanying sauces filled us to the brim.....other customers flowed in and out whilst we were there and they seemed genuinely happy as well.....admittedly it was not too busy so we can only judge on our night but we were glad that we discovered this gem on the corner of Chinatown......finished with a perfect Pimms & had a ball...thanks to all...we will return.....
