We had an amazing time at the Wooden Horse. I know you are supposed to post pictures of the food before you eat it but it was so good that we ate the mains before I remembered to take the photograph.. I had the crumbed pork chop burnt pear sauce.and it was so delicious. The bread for starters was amazing as was the homemade rhubarb pies for dessert. We had fantastic and friendly service. It was great food in a vibrant restaurant. I would highly recommend it!

Absolutely yum! After checking their website and seeing a small menu with a focus on local produce and quality ingredients, we were keen to try Wooden Horse. Staff were lovely. Our waiter was friendly, professional and knew the menu. The room was beautiful, intimate and we loved the lighting. But it always comes down to the food. We ended up with an all veg selection because everything on that page looked interesting. And that decision did not disappoint. The zucchini flower "pie", blending the delicacy of zucchini flower with the flavours of a good old fashioned pie 'n' peas was a stroke of genius. Well done chef! And everyone should do themselves a favour and try the crumbed Lions mane... We'll be back for more. 😊

A wonderful experience from the moment we walked in. Exceptional service from the staff and the most divine plant based food I’ve ever eaten. Delicious food, awesome service! We shared the beetroot arancini, then I had the special which was a grilled oyster mushroom steak, I swapped the fries for greens. My partner had the supreme pizza. Our server was wonderful, I've forgotten his name but he helped me choose from the many vegan options. The food is awesome. Amazing vegan options, fresh, vibrant ingredients. The beetroot arancini was perfect to share between two people. They were absolutely delicious. The pizza had a beautiful crust, and my oyster mushroom steak was incredible. The drinks menu is also impressive, many decent wines and beers to choose from. There is also good-looking cocktail menu. We had the tap lager which I think was called Golden Boy. I'm a simple person, I love a good tap lager and this did not disappiont. Clean, easy drinking and lovely with the food. We will surely be back again soon.

Very nice restaurant that felt like dining in a nice antique home with warm dim lighting. Arancini balls came out first and were delicious! Mains were lamb pizza and pork belly dish with red curry sauce. They weren’t as great as the entree but still good. Dessert to finish was egg nogg brûlée and affogato. Also nice but best dish of the night was arancini. Very good, friendly and professional service. Overall enjoyed our anniversary dinner 😊

We had the pork chops and the gnocchi alla vodka (which had prawns in it). The pork was good. But the gnocchi was just mxuah 👌🏾👌🏾💯💯 Loved it. We could taste the freshness of the prawns and the flavour was something new to us and but delicious. Very pleasantly surprised by this quaint, eclectic restaurant and its many friendly staff. Prices are a little dear though 😜 but you get what you pay for. Already saving up for our next visit 😅

Delicious, well prepared entrees, mains and desserts. Attentive, friendly staff and fairly quick service even on a busy night. My partner and I went here for a date night and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. It was quite busy for a Wednesday night so I'd highly recommend making a booking regardless of the day. Definitely recommend this restaurant as a nice choice for a night out with your significant other 👌

Refined punky cool vibe. The menu has shrunk, but it's more concentrated and you need to trust the chefs' palette, one vegan, one very-not vegan. For me, the mushroom steak is a continual winner, like an armadillo, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Quite remarkable. The front of house staff know what they're doing. Kudos on the balance of attentive attitude and reserved distance.

Staff was great and atmosphere is chill. Chicken parfait was alil salty. Fish was really really good. Lamb pizza is really strong lamb smell and top with onion. It was alil overpowering for me. Everything was lovely. I had a great time.

Delicious meal, but very, very small portions for the price. Paid $35 for four (amazing) mouthfuls of pork belly and no real substantial sides (half a beautifully poached pear, about a tablespoon of pureed pumpkin and some charred greens). It would be more of an appropriate size for an entree. We would recommend the pizzas though - they were great and a very decent sized portion for the price ($25). For a small restaurant, it was very noisy. My partner and I found ourselves struggling to hear eachother across the table. Perhaps some floor rugs or soundproofing on the ceiling might absorb some of the noise? The wait staff were helpful and attentive, and the food quality was excellent. Aside from the disappointing portion size we really enjoyed the night. I'd just recommend ordering an entree if you wish to leave sated.

Never disappoints! The food is always fresh and made with love, the drinks are creative and fun. This is our local date night spot. I can't speak highly enough of this place. It's a MUST if you're considering a new local restaurant.

We arrived at The Wooden Horse and our reservation wasn't there. My mistake. The staff quickly made arrangements to seat us with out bringing attention to the fact I'd stuffed up the booking. So nice considering a full house. We ordered for entrees the Chargrilled cheese bread, for mains the 12 Hr Pig Belly & Steak Frites. Finished off with the Strawberry & Rhubarb pie. Each item was a 10/10 for both of us. Absolutely delicious. Last but definitely not least the wait staff were amongst the best we have ever had. Attentive, kind and informative. Exceptional night thank you to all the staff.

Great foodie restaurant in the Clayfield neighborhood of Brisbane. Brothers Dane and Morgan serve up modern Australian fare with a Mediterranean twist. We split one of their artisan leaf salads and we each selected our own personal-size pizza. Jackson, our server, recommend a nice red wine that we loved. If we lived in Brisbane this would definitely be one of our go to places. Helpful Hint: Check out the restaurant for weekly specials and special events.

Cannot fault our experience at Wooden Horse. We had a little bit of everything - fresh oysters, confit potatoes, the most flavourful arancini and some seriously tender hanger steaks and butterhead lettuce, paired with a Rouler Pinot. If you can believe we also managed to squeeze in the choc onslaught between three. Everything from the service down to the ambiance and plating was perfect.

It would add interest to know what the building had been built for originally as it looks like it has lots of history. Brilliant, friendly service, incredible food and delicious cocktails. The bartender was passionate and knowledgeable; skillfully choosing drinks to accompany our mains. We started with the prosciutto and wagyu bresaola from "the meat slicer with love", accompanied by two cheeky servings of duck liver parfait with truffle snow. For mains, we indulged in the 4-hour sous-vide Black Angus. Although very full, we found room for the Big Bad Wolff Afogatto to share. Outstanding flavours all round! A warm welcome upon arrival, great service during the night (thanks Lauren) and some delicious Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, Wooden Horse was a wonderful dining experience and good value for money given the culinary effort and attention to detail delivered.

I’ve been here twice and will definitely go again, really cool venue and set up, staff are all absolutely lovely (shout out to Lauren and the young man w the mullet, you guys are excellent). The vegan menu is great and it’s so good to have somewhere like this as a vegan friendly option, another VG main or two to choose from would be cool but there’s certainly enough options of sides etc to make do and again, the food is so flipping good! First of all, the front of house staff at Wooden Horse are always fantastic. Friendly and efficient and all that good stuff, but also always ready to chat about the menu and recommend favourite drinks. They set the warm atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The food never fails to impress. This time our table enjoyed steak, chicken, ravioli and some delectable desserts (that lemon merengue is to die for.) Everything was sensational. The owners and chefs, two brothers, clearly have such a passion and knowledge for food, it absolutely shines through every part of the dining experience. Staff are great, the atmosphere/ decor is great too. I’ve been coming here since their opening and I think the food quality has dropped a touch. The flavours didn’t marry as well as they used to as I recall the banging flavours that used to jump out of their main dishes. We left full, but not completely satisfied.

We were surprised by their attention to detail Their menu catered to all palates including vegetarian and the wine selection was devine. We come to Wooden Horse regularly for our birthday, anniversary or just because date nights and you guys are always so incredible to your patrons! Along with the absolutely phenomenal food (as always, perfection team! How can you go past a seasonal menu where everything is created in house and caters to everyone whether you’re into fine dining or wanting something extra special to take away?) your attention to detail when it comes to how you treat your customers is something that we’ve yet to find anywhere else in our travels around Australia and the world. A very special shout out to Jackson and Jacob who looked after us again tonight, who made fantastic wine recommendations and Jackson who made a special birthday Aperol Gin sour cocktail for me which was so delicious! Our local restaurant for a intimate meal with each other or friends ( not really for kids ). The management is exceptional and the food is the bravest presentation of fine dining that exists north of fortitude valley or the CBD. The location and the fitout let's it down,not through taste but the old Queenslander really amplifies the sound of the busy little place. Its a well managed venue in an area not full of fine dining experiences.

Couldn't fault a single element. Forget dinner in the city, this is your place to go. Pay half the price of the city and possibly better meals too.

The service is friendly (although could be a little more attentive, I kept having to ask for my water to be refilled). The environment is very loud, and perhaps a little cramped. We had a table of five and I was sitting on the end of the table and constantly felt like I was in the walkway area between tables. It's also very loud even when it's not that full. It definitley needs some baffling on the ceiling to soften the noise. We visited on steak night and the food was excellent, but the menu could do with some tweaks. There's a couple of steaks with an asian flavour base (miso and shio koji) but only one of the sides complements this flavour (the umami greens). Wooden horse definitely needs something else to go with these dishes, perhaps an asian slaw, or japanese fried lotus and turnip. The other sides (although delicious in their own right) just clash with the flavours. This is the same for the sauces served with the steaks. At least offer a sesame jus or something for the asian flavour based steaks. The meat (regardless of the cut) is tender juicy and flavoursome, as it should be; it's all been sous vide for hours. The duck liver parfait buttery smooth, served with a perfect accompaniment of pickles. The chickpea prawns are excellent, crunchy and with bags of flavour. The italian slaw is devinely textural and refreshing. And the desserts equally interesting with their own unique flavours: - The chocolate ganash is so rich but flavourful with wonderful hints of salty caramel. - Nans peaches are a refreshing, not too sweet and a lovely treat. - The egg nog creme brulee is pefectly balanced.
