Steak is good but surprisingly not that spectacular. Not sure why they put bbq sauce on it for you. Mushrooms are great though! Overall enjoyable, hearty.
P. C.
Nice dining experience. Spacious seating, courteous staff and well priced menu. Belly pork [need better knives to get through the crackling!] for starter and steak for main with green vegetables. Enjoyable meal and will go again.

One of the best restaurants in Canberra. My wife and I go here once a year, usually for our anniversary. Get the chef's special, you won't regret it. You get a little taste of everything that's on offer. I wish more restaurants had this option available (other restaurants please take note).

Accommodated us for a last minute booking. We had the set menu and it was delicious. The highlights were definitely the tapas style starters. The mains were ok, whilst the beef was delicious, the lamb did seem dry which I was surprised considering it was slow roasted for many hours, but the copious garlic flavoured sauce did help.
M. I.
Ok food, my steak was overcooked even though I ordered medium. Mushrooms were ok as well, nothing special
K. L.
4/5 - The tapas (we tried 5) were all VERY good. Cute little portions but each packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. My favourite was the scallop.
5/5 - Cocktails: Outstanding.
5/5 - MUST TRY MAINS & ENTREE: The seafood risotto and the king prawn entree were out of this world. They were both substantial portions, enough for the two of us. If they could bottle the sauce from the king prawn entree and sell it, I’d be first in line to buy.
4/5: DESSERT: 4-bite chefs selection and aerated chocolate mousse. The aerated chocolate mouse was the highlight of the dessert course. I can’t describe it, so I’ll just invite you to try it. And the regular chocolate mousse looked like it was made in the master chef kitchen. Wow.
6/5: SERVICE. If you’re lucky and served by George, you’ll have a restaurant experience like no other. He has so much character, is professional, and is passionate about his job: something we don’t see often in restaurant staff. Thank you George, you’re the reason we enjoyed dinner.

We were recommended this place as a foodies go to place. The menu was very enticing and had a large variety of dishes. Their tapas were great and reminded us of Barcelona. Unfortunately their service could be a little bit warmer - given the price range although the food was great the expectation on the waiters was higher. They did their job and that is about it.
B. l.
Disappointed to be honest. I was expecting a meat feast and I got a decent experience but have had much better ribeye in other places. Croquette wasn’t what I expected, not Spanish for sure. Meat was tougher and stringier then I would have liked. Brocollini and spinach was the highlight which shows the quality. Might try the suckling pig next time (if I come back...)
C. B.
Great food and wine, great price. Really nice experience. Staff were all great too. We had an awesome evening. Thank you

Not the first time I've been and surely not the last. Absolutely delicious on all courses. Cannot fault in any way. Food cooked to perfection. Taste is packed with flavour. The staff were also extremely attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

Dining with attention to detail at it's best. Excellent food and service. Must come back again. The aerated cheesecake.. wow!
J. L.
Overall quality of food and dishes in this renown restaurant was reasonable.
And I was impressed with professional and welcoming staffs who know their food.
Recommended!

Our server seemed a bit shy but still offered fantastic customer service. Good food but the seafood guazzetto could have afforded to have some bread on the side. Fantastic food, bar service and a wonderful selection of wine both Australian and international.

I was in Canberra for the night and I came across Black Fire Restaurant.
Upon viewing the menu I went with the tomahawk black angus steak.
Absolutely amazing, was prepared well and cooked to my liking with beautiful flavors. The red wine jus just added another element. The two sides that came with my meal were simple with plenty of flavor.
The staff were great, great service and friendly staff.
Would highly recommend Black Fire if your in Canberra.
Look forward to dining there again next time I’m in Canberra.
M. N.
Excellent food & wine. Great atmosphere. Try the chef tasting menu - it's great value & showcases some of the most popular, delicious items from the menu.
S. R.
Very generous and delicious spanish meat menu.Wonderful service and atmosphere. Staff are very knowledgeable of food products pn the menu and recommended the correct Spanish wine to match our meal.
Chefs tasting menu is a great idea at $55 per person. Everything was amazing.
Highly recommend. It's honestly one my favorite meat restaurants in Canberra.
We'll be back again soon!

I have been to this vibrant, busy, Mediterranean style restaurant several times over the past year. The meals are not huge, which suits me but not every one, and the food is generally very good. Tonight, my fillet steak with a side of mushrooms was perfect. My husband really enjoyed his fish of the day (John Dory) and side of carrot and pumpkin. We did have to wait 90 minutes for our meal which seemed excessive even on a busy Friday night. Fortunately we had some lovely sour dough bread with oil and balsamic to tide us through. Be warned, parking in and around Mort St is a bit of a nightmare during peak periods so car pool or taxi if you can. Also note - the restaurant is not BYO.
G. H.
Easily one of the best meals I've had.. the staff were fantastic and it had such a warm chilled out vibe. Back to the food.....the steak I had was cooked perfectly and the mash potatoes were the best I've ever had. I should have asked how they did it! Would have given them more stars if it was possible. So good thanks everyone at Black Fire
A. I.
Reasonable cocktails, even non-alcohilic choices are available. Meat dishes were good, I found them tender and tasty. The salads were varied and creative. For some reason my favourite dishes were the grilled continental bread with olive oil, the roast potatoes, and the grilled haloumi green salad.
M. L.
Exceptional experience! We had the banquet/chefs menu and it was amazing. Incredible value for money and so much good food.
Staff were great and dealt with some dietary requirements without a hassle. Shame we don't live in Canberra or we would be regulars here.
N. D.
I had a really lovely lunch here the other day. We ordered the octopus as a starter and shared the pork and mushroom risotto as mains, and finally ended the meal with a lovely affogato. The food was really delicious, cooked beautifully and very well presented!
The service was wonderful too. The main guy who served us helped us choose from the menu and was a delight!
I would definitely recommend this place for either lunch or dinner. Thanks so much for the wonderful meal! ❤️
J. C.
Great flavours with the set menu, staff were able to pair drinks with them and the presentation and ability to meet dietary requirements with ease was just amazing.
T. G.
Have been here for dinner before but never for breakfast... it was amazing! Incredible value for money, quality, taste... all those real Spanish flavors that are hard to find in Canberra.
B. W.
It’s beyond my expectation, nice food nice drink and also perfect service. Definitely would recommended to my friends and will 100% come back visit again. Thank you for completed my day :)
u. k.
Had a very nice meal at Blackfire. 5 adults and everyone was happy. Lamb shank , delicious.
J. P.
Lovely dinner out with a friend- beautifully presented and delicious food. Wine suggestion was perfect for the meal.
A. B.
Absolutely delicious dinner at Blackfire in Braddon. Fresh vegetation sides and halloumi salad. Succulent roast chicken, nicely paired with a light Tempranillo. Service was very good. The table are moo to o close together, and the acoustics were good. Decor is a bit dated, and very masculine, but don’t let it put you off. Definitely worth a visit.
H. M.
Beautiful food, great atmosphere and great staff had the best evening chefs tasting menu was delicious
O. G.
Had my birthday at Blackfire, it was fantastic! I would recommend roasted mushrooms and risotto. Will come back next time :)
I. M. (.
Amazing delicious food. Went for the banquet at 65pp and did not regret a thing. The beer was also good but a bit pricey.
R. B.
A good steak with average service. It was very hard to get the attention of wait staff while made the meal a little less special.
I. V.
The best steak restaurant in Canberra! I have been an avid lover of the Spanish cuisine for as long as I can remember and the atmosphere, food, drinks and service at Black Fire did not disappoint! It is incredibly exciting that there is a place as special as Black Fire located in the ACT and I am very excited to visit again. Fantastic range of drinks, beautiful food, lovely interior and atmosphere - from the music to the artwork and great staff - special shout-out to Pragya who served us when we went and it was one of the best services that I have had in a long time. She was just so accommodating and was very patient and went above and beyond to host us.
The serving of food was generous and reasonably priced considering the quality and most importantly, it was delicious - from the main meal, to the condiments and sauces, to the sides. The desserts were also fabulous and was a great way to finish the evening. We will definitely be back and it’s an easy 10/10 from me! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is after good quality food and meat in a fine dining setting and who can appreciate a good drink or two!
G. C.
Good selection of shared plates- fantastic scallops and the star of the night was the pork belly. Liked the little dessert taster plate too. Very pleasant, good service.
T. B.
We have been to this restaurant on 4 occasions, it was one of our favourite places to go for birthdays. Unfortunately the last couple of visits have been disappointing for an expensive place to dine. The staff are friendly but the service was poor. We ended up with 12 wine glasses on our table for 4 guests as our table was not cleared the entire 2 hour period we were there. The food was of average standard for the calibre of this restaurant. We had the tasting menu, it was all beautifully presented but was very quick, we didn't have time to sit and enjoy the flavours before the next dish was placed on the table. The pork and lamb were tasty but sitting in too much juice,. Hopefully Black Fire picks up its game as a the new steak restaurant in town is giving it some stiff competition.
J. M.
We thought going by photos, menu and the prices that this was fine dining - it is not fine dining. Brightly lit, a dull buzzing noise from the lights above our table and no table cloths make for a neat casual dinner. I had the tomahawk steak ($120) which sounds like a lot but you get two sides so would easily do two people for a nice dinner. Nobody’s steak on our table was cooked perfectly but all were okay, the service was not polished; had to wait a long time for the table to be cleared while staff milled around, the waitress serving us had a very limited idea of what drinks were available, was not particularly attentive but was friendly and helpful when asked. The wine list is extensive, the food came fairly quickly and the service was friendly.
If you’re chasing a great steak in Canberra, I would not recommend Black Fire but if you’re happy with “okay” then you won’t be disappointed.
This was my second trip to Black Fire and both experiences have been similar.
D. W.
We were fortunate to get a seat without booking...last minute recommendations by a local and we were no disappointed. The service wss exceptionally good, the food quality and quantity was on point and the atmosphere was great.
M. O.
Delicious food and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Perfect place for a group dinner. Recommend the chef's tasting menu which is excellent value and absolutely yummy food. Licenced bar.
A. G.
Food was really nice and atmosphere was lovely. Great place to eat!
T. F.
Went for the set. Not bad but will try from their grill next time.
A. P.
Easily the best resturant in Canberra, you can smell the wood fire from a block away. Excellent staff and delightful food.
R. W.
Definately the best slow cooked meat and tapas restaurant in Canberra. The quality of every dish is incredible and worth the premium price.
The wine list is diverse and top quality.
We go there regularly, and know what we want, but a selection of tapas, sides and mains will fill you up for about 45 per head including a few drinks.
The food is actually delicious. It will not disappoint.
You must try:
Butifarra Blanca (Pork Suasage and wild mushrooms) AAA+++
Charred House Chorizo and white beans.
Suckling Pig Portion
Get some potatoes and pumpkin sides.
R. D.
Overall experience was average.
The king prawn entree was great. It was clear to us the slow cooked lamb was precooked, refrigerated and probably microwaved before serving . The lamb came out luke-warm with hard fat dispersed through the cold juices - very disappointing for a $40 dish.. My partner had the seafood dish. Lovely presentation with great sauce. but the overcooked fish and mussels let this dish down.
The staff were knowledgeable and pleasant, though lighting was very bright. Relatively cold decor, okay for a large group gathering but definitely not recommended for intimate dinners.
Will we come back? Not anytime soon.
M. W.
Superb!! Fantastic! Amazing! Had dinner here with my Hubby. Absolutely the best meal we have had out in a very long time. We had The Chefs Tasting Menu and every bite was spectacular. Such lovely staff a great atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal. Thanks for having us. Can't wait for next time. Cheer!
A. P.
I don't like red meat but the steak here was divine (tried a piece of one of my friends) the suckling pig was absolutely tender and melt in the mouth delicious. And the pork belly! I dont think I have had pork belly that could just be cut through with a fork but this place managed that.
Oh and if you love good crackling on your pork, this is the place to go!
I will be back again!
B.
Sensational service and excellent food. We had the octopus and mushrooms for entrees and shared the tomahawk for mains. Meat and service was outstanding. They had great craft beer on tap which was a nice surprise (Sydney Pale ale was perfect) and we had a Spanish temperillo to match the steak. Highly recommend.
J. x.
I think we had higher expectation of this place, steak is ok, but the crispy pork was just average. Service could be better. But the wine was good!
r. j.
What a thrill! As we walked through Braddon on our way to another venue, we passed one of our favourite restaurants, Black Fire. Why hadn't we booked? Our dog looked mournful at the thought we were leaving her behind, and to our knowledge, Black Fire had no outside seating. So, the reason for the first sentence of this review...outside tables have been approved. Even better, one was available. We ordered the set menu, with our chosen variations. We ended up with a wonderful range of tapas, then our choice of meat with two accompaniments. The staff are lovely, efficient, friendly and ready to accommodate personal choices. We had a glass of wine each, a great Marlborough. The dog was happy as the people at the table next to ours not only petted her, but gave her a bone. We had a lovely night and shall be returning...but will book, it's very popular.
G. F.
Really good service and excellent food choices. We had a most enjoyable time
J. Z.
Amazing food. Must try the waygu beef if you are around . The server don't know how to hide his unhappiness.. maybe it was late and he wishs to go home ?? Not too sure. But non the less, food is amazing. Do try this place out if you are in the hood.
H. H.
Amazing food! Will be going back. Excellent at dealing with food allergies too.
F. G.
Service was great, the staff were super friendly and accommodating. We had the tasting menu and were particularly impressed by the main dishes: the suckling pig and lamb. They were very tasty, tender and juicy. I was also a big fan of the sangria!
K. M.
Fantastic tapas and deals. All the food was presented beautifully. Each dish had a unique flavor. A gorgeous way to experience Spanish cuisine!
S. K.
Went here for an anniversary dinner, have been here before a year or two ago and they have somehow outdone themselves with an even better menu. We tried the tasting menu - the shared platter and every single item on that degustation was ridiculously good. This is definitely one of the must-do restaurants in Braddon. Staff were attentive, polite, and I never found myself needing anything and struggling to find attention. Perfect night, thank you!
C. J.
Had the chef's menu which had a beautiful smokey taste to the pintxos, especially the pork sausage. The suckling pig felt like it needed some more flavour but all over a beautiful meal. They were also very helpful with my partner's food allergy. Service was very attentive with food but a bit lacking on service, leaving empty beer bottles on the table. Definitely recommended.
B. R.
Pasta was good, staff were friendly, chicken serving slightly small, overall very happy
a.
Food was great, as always. Was a bit disappointed that the people who came in after us, ordered when we received the first course of the tasting selection, managed to receive all their tasting selection before we did. Also the corner they sat us in near the firepit, the separator to block off the walkway to the restrooms was covered in dust and cobwebs. When we brought it to their attention, we were told that the vacuum couldn't reach. Great food and the staff are very friendly but that excuse was mind boggling.
D. R.
Family of four really enjoyed a lunch here this weekend. The food choices even for vegetarians was good and we barely had room for dessert but managed it. Pretty comfy chairs compared to many these days. Great to be able to order alcoholic drinks.Staff attentive and friendly. Traffic and construction in the area is a pain. I would go for an Uber next time. Will return. Good for north siders who want more choice. Highly recommend.
N. M.
Our third time in this delightful steak house. The service is friendly, a bit overwhelming with the covid 19 but understandably so. Great variety of drinks and a mouthwatering menu. We have tried almost everything on offer and I can say confidently that you cannot go wrong. At our last time we had the tomahawk steak and they got it perfectly right. We will definitely go back for our meat overdose.
M. L.
Easily the best steak house in town!! Staff are so nice, steak is cooked perfectly! Have to mention the pork belly! I normally have high standard for pork belly as an Asian , I will give it 5 out of 5 stars. Definitely worth to come back again.
A. L.
Blackfire is a phenomenal restaurant. I have eaten here several times and each time the food and service are just as spectacular as each other. They have a wonderful drink selection and make a.wonderful cocktail too. It's great for birthdays/special occasions! The only issue is finding a carpark in Braddon!!!
s. f.
2nd time here. Service is excellent. Allergies clearly marked. Wine list by the glass is sub-par for this ambiance/price. (Avg rating 3.4 for the reds). Not a single good red by the glass. (4.2 or better). I had the John Dory 1st time. Cooked perfect. Very tasty. This time I had the seafood Guazzetto. Couldn’t get past the smell. I pulled the John Dory off the dish (fish of the day again) (tasted good again). Pushed the bowl away. Couldn’t enjoy the remaining seafood. Guazzetto is a simple sauce. What ever was added to make it unique to Blackfire did not work at all. I don’t know if I could sit next to a table that ordered it. If I return, I guess it’s steak.
K. Y.
We had a table of 2 and chose the tasting menu. The pinxtos that come at the beginning come out QUICKLY. As soon as they’re placed down and you take the food off your plate the waiters immediately bring the next dish even if you haven’t finished the previous one. We felt like we were being hawked over and rushed to finish the pinxtos. The main course of pork and lamb was cooked really well and nice and tender but overall an extremely protein heavy tasting menu. The servers were very friendly.
O. Y.
We were a party of five eating steak and pork mains (with bread and vegetable-based sides) and we all liked our dishes. The service was attentive and polite. The only bad thing which was near-unbearable was the loud, cheap, elevator-style piano music which made me think I was on-hold with my internet service provider, while being served pretty good steak.
R. A.
Absolutely delicious food and attentive service. The portions are massive and we were really impressed with how flexible the choices for the tasting menu were (allergy requirements).
We will definitely be back.
T. F.
The best place to taste the real steak in Canberra. The steak is fantastically delicious.
S.
We had an excellent meal here with efficient service. Even though we had a 2 hour sitting time we didn't feel rushed out, which we appreciated. Lots of gluten free options too. Will be back!
J. R.
Great service, delicious food and good value. We ordered two steaks and two share plates and divided the spoils which seemed to work pretty well for everyone and we all left replete.
M. P.
One of the best resturants in Canberra. Sophisticated decor and great ambiance. The menu is inspired the food is on point and the quality of service was outstanding.
V. R.
The steak was great, but the rest of the meal didn't meet expectations. The suckling pig sausage with pine mushrooms, wasn't suckling pig and the pine mushrooms were plain unenthusiasticaly cooked button mushrooms. The mixed mushroom dish was also just plain old button mushrooms. I understand that supply may be an issue, but it would have been nice to know before we ordered 3 separate dishes containing mushrooms.
P. C.
This restaurant is lovely. Located in Braddon, it is close to bars as well so is a great spot for dinner before heading out into the city. The degustation menu is excellent – delicious food options to suit everyone and the portion sizes are great – you don’t leave feeling hungry!
R. S.
Staff were fabulous, we had the set menu for 2, it was a great price and didn't leave hungry at all.
Food was delicious and will totally return with family and friends.
T. S.
Great food, was quite warm inside though:)
Y. W. W. L.
Perfect service and food, thanks for the perfect night❤️
B. W.
Great food, great service and a really nice vibe to the restaurant.
R. M.
was taken here by my son. we ordered the set menu. there was alot to eat. wife could not finish but the boy and I did. all of it was grand. flavour, texture, portions. price was good value for what we got.
A. C.
Hit and miss. Crackling pork skin but the octopus and ravioli were not freshly made.
W. S.
Fantastic meal with good atmosphere. Worth spending a little money. Great service. Staff really make the experience more enjoyable. 10/10
J. H. P.
It was a pleasant dining experience for weary travellers arriving shortly before dinner.
Succulent lamb shank main for the S.O, and lovely 'fish of the day'- John Dory, for me- but over salted for my liking.
Prawns for the entree were dry (perhaps had been frozen??)
The staff were attentive and friendly.
M. S.
We had a few of the tapas (Jamon, croquettas, scallops) and the ribeye. The food was incredible and the staff were super lovely and helpful. Couldnt recommend more :)
M. G.
Great food and professional friendly service. They accommodated us last minute late on a Sunday and we were so pleased we found them. Will be back.
R. I.
Mmm meat. Great meat dishes. Not great for vego's Good atmosphere with the quarter cow cooking in the corner. Very knowledgeable staff. Great winne selection.
Z. M.
Amazing Italian trattoria with a delicious and great value set lunch menu. Decent wine list too! Highly recommend, great casual and friendly service, warm and cozy ambience.
V. T.
A different menu for a Steak House. The meat cuts were delicious. We order the striploin and the rib eye on the bone. Perfectly cooked to our tasting. The rib eye was huge. Best to share. The sides and sauces were different to what you usually find in other steak houses (roasted carrots, sauteed mushrooms), and those usual ones were served in an original way (mash with onions and green beans, sauteed spinach with brocolini). The tapas menu was a good way to try small dishes, such as the pork empanadas and the scallops.
Overall, a nice experience, and our waiter was outstanding. Great service.
T. F.
We came, we saw, we ate all the food and we left thoroughly satisfied. We ordered the Chef's Tasting menu after being delighted that the staff were able to not only accommodate a request for gluten free food, but gluten free food suitable for a Coeliac (there's a difference, trust me). All of the courses were delightful as well as the wine and beer pairings; we left unbelievably satisfied with our meal.
We also had such a fabulous time engaging with our waiter who was the perfect blend of attentive and standoffish! All-in-all, a fabulous dining experience that far exceeded our expectations.
E. C.
Highly recommend ! Coeliac friendly and aware kitchen. Chefs tasting menu was fantastic with GF and Vege options being brought out on seperate plate but no substitute for portion or flavour.
R. H.
One of the best restaurants we had the pleasure of going to while in Canberra.
Food was fantastic highly recommend the Chef mixed share plate...unbelievable and the suckling pig plus the beef exception.
But the thing that standout apart from the food was the service, more top end restaurants could learn from them. Looking forward to trying the Brisbane restaurant.
S. L.
The food here tastes amazing, serving some of the most delicious meals I have ever had. The portion sizes are large and I was completely satisfied by the selection of tapas entrees and slow cooked meat mains.
The service is excellent, very professional but not overbearing.
The best part was the caramel sauce served with the cheesecake desert. The place is worth visiting for that sauce alone.
B. D.
Had a fantastic meal here, friendly staff and a tasty meal.
S. B.
This is my favourite restaurant in Canberra. Totally mind blowing food, friendly and helpful service and a lovely, unrushed atmosphere.
K. A.
Starters and mains were great. Food was tasty and well cooked and portion sizes were fine. The services was slow, however, and this was due to the night being very busy. This was enough to lose a star but keep it a 4 star place as the wait staff were still very friendly, helpful and attentive. All I can say is well done to the staff for keeping their cool on such a busy night. I would certainly visit again and would recommend to friends.
L. A.
Ate a meal with Friends here. Lovely service, delicious, well presented food and great wine selection. We enjoyed the chefs degustation menu and left well satisfied! Great choice to go for a nice dinner and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Will be back again and I'd recommend to friends and family.
E. W.
Hubby took me to this restaurant for my birthday and I absolutely love this place. As it was our first time being there, we had the $55 meal as per suggestion and it was amazing! It fed the four of us and we had leftovers.
Loved the aromas of food as it greeted you when you enter. The ladies that served us was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient :).
The place had the unmistakable Mediterranean feel about it. It was pleasantly quiet (for those looking for a place where you can have a conversation at a normal level, this restaurant is certainly the place for you). For me, it was an enjoyable experience.
Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
E.
I have been here over a dozen times and I am always blown away by the food and service. The food is even better than its equivalent in Spain! There hasn't been a single thing I have tried off the menu that I wouldn't recommend. If you opt for the chef's tasting menu, be sure to bring a colossal appetite. Special mentions go to the squid, the scallops, the pork belly, the croquetas (the best you'll get in Canberra) and of course all the meat mains, particularly the rib eye and the rump cap.
K. H. W.
Recently we just pay a visit to this restaurant from snowy mountain. Such a great location in Canberra for us to stop by before heading back to Sydney. Friendly welcome by the restaurant duty manager - Allen. He recommended us few dishes which include the entree, main and dessert. As we are not familiar with Spain cuisine. He is right, the foods came with so nice and delicious. Recommended for those who need a break at Canberra. Thanks again. We so enjoyed and hope to see you soon. Cheers.
N. L.
We tried the Chef's tasting menu (I had the vegetarian option), everything was beautiful! Staff were friendly and very helpful. White and red sangria are delicious.
The tasting menu is very good value for money and they are very quick to accommodate to most dietary needs.
A. D.
My wife, friends and I have visited Black Fire several times and each and every time we have come away very satisfied with the quality, quantity and price of the food. Wonderfully flavorful and perfectly cooked, the Black Fire Valentine's Day set menu was a joy on our (increasingly rare, what with our 1 and 3 year olds) date night out.
I thoroughly suggest that you seek out Black Fire if you're interested in Spanish cuisine and mildly spicy food.
D. P.
We had a great night at black fire, the food was awesome, service was lovely and we will be back.
We did the chef's choice menu, which meant we got to taste a lot of different dishes - a great way to get a sample of a few dishes, our favourite was the baked artichoke.
L. L.
My experience here was a bit of a mixed bag. It is highly recommended that you book on a Friday or Sat night, they were turning people away when we went for dinner here. (Lucky we booked!) The service was good, they do try to push the banquet on you though. The decor is lovely the food was good however I had the slow cooked Wagu skirt steak and the sauce was quite tasteless. The dessert was delicious!! I had the Chocolate Coulant and it was yummy!
A. A.
Very nice service and atmosphere. Food was spot on and served exactly as asked and cooked to my liking. Wish they were up in Sydney.

I've been here so many times now and have NEVER ordered off the menu - I always go straight for the chef's tasting menu and I've never been disappointed. The value out of this menu is amazing - four appetisers plus a prosciutto and bread board followed by suckling lamb and pig with two sides.
I've always found the service friendly and quick and would recommend this place to anyone. Nice quiet atmosphere where you can actually hear each other too.
Would have scored five stars if they changed up the four appetisers every now and then for a different experience.
S. S.
Called in for a drink while our party waited for a table at a nearby restaurant. It was very busy & we enjoyed the experience. We hope to return for a meal next time.
G. R.
Literally the best meal we have ever eaten. The Chef's Taste Menu is amazing, flavours to die for. The suckling pig & suckling lamb were tender, juicy & flavoursome. The affogato & liqueur was the perfect way to finish the meal. The staff were attentive but not in your face. Definitely worth the visit when you are in Canberra. 😋😋😋
K. L.
We got the tasting menu for $55 a person. The four tapas dishes we received were delicious, especially the artichoke one. The suckling lamb and suckling pig were juicy and delicious, with fantastically matched sauces and sides. Our aerated cheesecake for dessert came with the best caramel sauce ever made and was a perfect way to end the meal. Highly recommend for a special occasion - fancy food without the tiny portion sizes or weird ingredients.
M. M.
Very mixed bag. Nice ravioli, cheap and nasty white wine, very small serve of fish and vegetable side. The worst though, was when supplying the feedback the response from management was to defend everything. Thats means they just don’t care
E. H.
Delicious food. Great wine suggestions and very accommodating of my food allergies. Would definitely eat there again.
D. M.
The mains were amazing, but by that stage we'd already eaten the four entrees we ordered, which were all quite disappointing. The drinks menu is also quite poor, with flavourless beers, bottom shelf spirits, and uninspiring wines. The staff, while friendly, was under trained; with little experience of the food, and almost no knowledge of the wine. Like I said, the mains we ordered were amazing, so if I was to go again, I'd skip the entrees and BYO.
T. C.
Great service. Excellent food. We really appreciated the hospitality, which included us accidentally turning up early and being ushered to a table and looked after wonderfully.
A. H.
The staff are friendly, service is quick and the steak is delicious and tender. I would really recommend to give this place a try!
A. R.
Satisfying and tasty food. Lovely service.
P. N.
Very nice food. I don't expect much because it's a Friday evening, but everything turned up to be fine front stepping into the restaurant till the time you pay and leave. Highly recommended!
C. B.
Excellent meals, friendly and helpful staff, priced very reasonably. Will definitely visit again.
G. J.
Been here twice and left satisfied on both occasions. Chef selection is like great value compared to menu items and doesn't dissapoint. It is worth lashing out for the steak.
P. R.
Great place, lovely food, well priced and good waiters who knew their stuff. Would highly recommend.
M. M. (. S. S.
Food was great. Portions looked small when we received them but in the end thank god they were so sensibly weighted as I was as full as a bull... 😂🙏🥂
J. H.
Great steak restaurant. The menu is structured so that you can select your steak and what ever side dishes you like. And your choice of sauce is also presented in a separate little bowl.
Not only does this mean you can avoid any particular vegetables not to your liking, but your inner Sheldon can be at peace controlling the amount of touching between the different foods.
A lengthy wine list and great deserts make the Black Fire a solid choice.
J. H.
Excellent service and great food. We were over dressed though. 212 dollars including the alcohol for the 2 of is. Quite reasonable for the quality of the food and the drinks that we had.
M. K.
Great chef's tasting menu. At $55 per head it is fantastic value. Generous portion and delicious food, and they are able to tailor it to suit your needs. Service is attentive and pleasant.
M. S.
The food & menu could be better. Flavour did not get close to Spanish food. It was dull and boring. Good selection of wines especially Spanish wines with reasonable price. The services & atmosphere was pleasant
C. S.
Breakfast was very yummy and service very good. I'm looking forward to going back to try their dinner menu 🙂
D. C.
Fantastic experience! The food is awesome, fresh and delicious! All the staff are friendly and helpful! Definitely go next time 😍
F. 6.
We had a marvelous dinner and time.
The staff is very professional and really goes over the mile to make you feel welcome and at ease. Thank you Francesca!!!
The food is divine!!
Recommended for family or business gatherings!!

C. B.
Superb food. Excellent service. The degustation menu was $55 per person for 4-5 entree dishes, as well as absolutely delicious suckling pork and slow cooked lamb with roast potatoes and (specially requested) cooked green vegetables which in our opinion was amazing value. The $20 degustation dessert plate for two was also terrific value and quality. An amazing experience.
E. L.
We visited Camberra for one night without doing much research. A quick search for dinner options resulted in us choosing this place. The steak was amazing and the side sauces were interesting and delicious. The service was EXTREMELY good. Definitely try this place
D. K. O.
It was lovely. Again. The food was good and plentiful. But, as always, it was the service that makes this a great place to eat out. Especially their care with our dietary requirements! GF, DF and we still were able to enjoy the chef's tasting menu. You guys rock! 👏👏👏
B. F.
Probably my favourite place to eat in Canberra. The staff are always friendly and helpful and quick to get you what you need (not one of those places where you order a drink and left waiting for ages) the food is always of a high quality and for how busy they are the food comes out quickly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
A. D.
Is ok to go for a good dinner the steaks are good.
B. H.
Went not too long ago the tasting platters are awesome. Good food and atmosphere and highly recommend for taking your significant other
M. W.
Food was great but wait staff fighting amongst themselves was a tad off putting
V. H.
tbh my bacon was like almost
raw in my breakfast and the girl serving told me that it we cook it too much it becomes rubbery..i have eaten bacon before lovely i and that is not true at all .... i didn’t end up eating it she didn’t even offer me other cooks bacon she just basically said that and walked off so i’ve paid full price for bacon i didn’t eat ..
C. D.
My meal was lovely. The other choices seemed like quite small portions, and I haven't sat in so much smoke since the bush fires!
K. C.
Food was great. We had a Chef selected menu. Would've been nice to see more tapas on the menu and more of a Spanish menu to match the name Feugo Nero. Staff were lovely and were happy to wait for us to finish up.
A. S.
We just moved from Sydney to Canberra to live, we like the city and it is perfect for a family. We tried many restaurants in these few weeks, most of the venue had roughly the same menus or at least the same ingredients and dishes. We found black fire through a uber driver that he recon was the best in town. We booked on last Thursday for dinner. The restaurant look very cosy, chandeliers and the amazing fire pit as soon as you get in. The service is friendly and very knowledgeable, we had a lady with a black shirt explain the menu and the specials, she was very nice, the menu is amazing and we could find anything in it including a beautiful goat cheese curros. We ordered a couple of curros and the special chef menu for $55. The food came out gradually and well explained by the server, we had some baby pepper with prawns, tuna , chorizo and prosciutto with stuffed artichokes . Then the mains came out with pig and lamb and sides. Overall the food is amazing, the menu is really good and different from the other venues, the service is great. As a person used to go out for dinner very often, I found a favourite in Canberra .
H. H.
Lovely Sun night meal with friends. We had the $55 ph special and the entrees devine. We were quite full by mains but so good. Managed to fit in the dessert degustion for 2, v generous quantity and so fed 4. Good wines available and excellent service. Overall a great night
L.
Absolutely divine. The service was spectacular and the food just melted in your mouth. Highly recommended venue. Affordable and great a atmosphere for conversation. I will defiantly be returning for many more enjoyable experiences.
S. S.
Great Mediterranean food. Service is great. Staffs are knowledgeable about menu. Vanilla icecream is nice and generous serving.
L. B.
Best European meal so far. The eye fillet was melting in my mouth and what a brilliant choice of sides. The Chef's desserts were just the perfect way to end the meal.
A. M.
Wonderful meal, high quality food and drinks - all was great (prices to match). Service was a little slow and be careful of up-selling when you don’t really want or need, otherwise staff were pleasant.
Warm inside, with nice atmosphere and wasn’t too loud. We enjoyed a VERY lovely evening here.
K. M. A.
This Spanish restaurant does great meat dishes, there signature slow cooked lamb is divine. Unfortunately their sauces were too dominating for the delicate flavours of scallops. We'll be visiting again.
T.
Best Mediterranean flavoured breakfast I've had.. Those beans! Delicious! Good coffee as well, it's on the must go back list. Would love to try their dinner menu
B. S.
I was there for dinner with my family on Saturday night. We had a wonderful sharing menu, giving us a great tour of what the Black Fire kitchen can do. Everything was exceptional, including the staff.
S. P.
Great service, amazing food. We had the Chef’s Tasting Menu and it was just perfect, all dishes were well presented and perfectly cooked.
P. D.
Had another fantastic dinner with friends at Black Fire last night. Wonderful food with great, attentive service. The perfect evening out!
B. K.
Amazing gluten free food! Honestly if you're gluten free this is the best place I've encountered in Canberra
M. W.
Fantastic spot for breakfast. The coffee is delicious and the meals have a Spanish twist with lots of cheeses, cured meats and chorizo. Service is friendly and the barista is always good value. Will definitely return.
R. K.
Service was excellent. Nice atmosphere. Food was tasty however the side dish arrived cold.
M. W.
A fantastic experience for any meal. Always something different than what you'd expect, especially for breakfast where "bacon and eggs" is the last thing you'd want to try.
Blackfire is basically my "local" - I've given up on the other restaurants in Braddon. Lunches are an experience you'll remember for ever and the suckling pig or lamb are both to die for.
And yes, the coffee is brilliant - easily passes the "espresso test".
F. G.
Beautiful food. Ambient environment. Wonderful service. A fantastic dinner.
D. S.
Wow can these guys cook. Amazing service and the most fantastic authentic food. Just loved it.
L. S.
This was a really great restaurant.. Food was amazing and the customer service was also great. If you can't decide what to eat, highly recommend the Chef Tasting plate option.
Z. K.
Staff are friendly and attentive. Good selection of steaks on their menu. Food quality was excellent and very tasty. Recommended.
R. S.
The food was amazing but was overshadowed by the amazing service. Very attentive, polite and always making sure we were taken care of. This is a venue I would recommend to everyone (Except vegetarians!)
J. M.
Went here for work Christmas dinner, so I had a set menu/banquet. Overall the food was very nice, but unfortunately the starters were not great. Would definitely come back though!
M. H.
I had a very pleasant experience at this restaurant that I would personally rating it one of the best canberra venue. The food is very good , I would recommend the chef menu at $55 which includes a great variety of dishes, the service is outstanding . I would be back in my next visit in act
S. O.
Amazing, the best place in Canberra. The manager is a kind oerson and all the staff as well.
M. B.
The group I was with ordered the chef's degustation, a bit of most everything from the menu. We followed that by ordering the dessert degustation. There is nothing bad on the menu. The staff was highly attentive. I recommend you go!
G. P.
Much better than I was expecting. The portions very generous and the food was of on excellent quality. Service did leave a bit to be desired though. Standout dish = slow roasted lamb
A. D. M.
The food was really good and the service better. Everyone was really friendly. Highly recommended. We had a great evening.
S. D.
Absolutely gorgeous food, cooked and served by people who really care about the experience we have while dining there. Thank you guys!!!
T. L.
Always amazing food great service definitely book to have a feed at this place
M. B.
Have been coming here for over 4 years and has not let me down once... good food, attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Great restaurant for those looking to celebrate an occasion.
J.
Fantastic food with a good wine selection and bar. The staff were friendly and helpful and the environment is warm and cosy.
Although it comes under Braddon, it's still only a ten minute walk from Alinga Street in the City Centre.
M. C.
Warm interior and wonderful kitchen aromas when you first walk in. Great service and yummy food. Portions a little light but waiters offer good advice and options. Well worth a visit
C. R.
Food, ambiance and service was exceptional. Only small problem were pesty small flying insects.
I think they were from the plants. Otherwise, we'll look forward to returning.
C. H.
My wife and I were very impressed with the food and service. Was a great experience and well priced. Highly recommended.
G. L.
Literally the best beef I've tasted in my life. Really nice atmosphere and the staff are attentive but not intrusive. One of my favourite Canberra restaurants.
d. k.
The food was fantastic, and the service was just as exceptional. They are warm, helpful, and provide an wonderful experience. The cozy and relaxed atmosphere was so welcoming, I found it hard to leave the place.
B. “. M.
Another incredible experience, their ability to have kept their standard and culture over so many years and interstate expansion is a credit to everyone involved. Everyone should visit, enjoy, eat well, and get a bit of black fire in their life
R. G.
Had the scotch fillet medium-rare, which was cooked nicely. Center a bit on the cold side though.
Very fast and attentive service
M. L.
The food choice is interesting and a little eclectic but what we had was delicious. They also had a good selection of wines by the glass and the tempranillo I had was very good.
J. P.
Had breakfast sunday morning. The food was amazing. The staff were very friendly and not intrusive. Cant wait to come back again.
Best breakfast i have had in a long time.
M. M.
We had the chef's tasting menu, which was about 6 courses and quite good value. Loved the food, and the service was great.
K. D.
We too had the Chef's tasting menu and it was excellent. Staff friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.
D. S.
Entrees were very good.
Pan tuscana was portioned well.
Octopus was plentiful, baby peppers were amazing.
Could use a little more spice.
Rump cap was cooked beautifully for a rare.
m. h.
Service was good but for $28 the raviolli main dish was like an entry. Nice food but not filling for the price. Had to get some more food down the road. Pasta should be filling for that price. 6 raviolli in a bowl doesnt cut it.
M. S.
We had the chef's tasting plate and it was a good range of dishes. Nice food but nothing really spectacular.
L. H.
This has been a favourite of ours when visiting Canberra for several years. Unfortunately, it just wasn't the same this time. The food was nothing special and that relaxed, fun Blackfire vibe was missing.
P. M.
Very impressed. Very good service. My partner (who was vegetarian) and I (eats meat) had the degustation type delivery so we got to try a fair bit. I am looking forward to going back.
N. J.
Really tasty food, love the morcilla tapas and the butifarra blanca sausage
A. W.
Lots of gluten free/coeliac safe options, staff were incredibly knowledgeable and the food was excellent
J. M.
Really yummy authentic food with great service. Not to pricey and servings are on the larger size so good to share. Great service as well! Would definitely recommend.
R. H.
Menu is better than the food actually is. The meat mains are sensational but the tapas didnt live up to expectation. Excellent service.
D. W.
Good wine list. Variety and quality meal. Attentive staff.👍
G. S.
Amazing restaurant. We always get the banquet and let the staff pick our wines. Very understanding of coeliac and gluten free.
G. J.
One of the best steaks I have had in the ACT. Excellent staff and service.
F. W.
Very good restaurant. Excellent customer service. The Chef's tasting menu was very tasty and filling. I will eat here again.
H. Y.
First time came got the last table lucky! The restaurant is usually fully booked. Most delicious beef stick, potato & salad! Highly recommended!
S. G. (.
Good food, tapas menu is limited a bit, but all options are nice. We recommend this restaurant to friends that are staying in Canberra and looking for a good place to eat.
J. S.
Very good cuisine, Rebecca our waitress made our night oh so special.
R. M.
Yummy food, can't fault that though there was a mixup with our order and had to wait longer for entrees ,my son got his meal not as he wanted but the waiter was good to fix the mess by offering him a duck kind of aranchini.
Food 5 star,service 3.5 cosy 5star
Thank you will ,be back again for the food ,hopefully they get it right😊
N. E. G.
Great placer, the menu has many options and dishes are abundant and exquisite. The wine selection is impressive as well.
W.
Service, atmosphere and food were all amazing. The pork belly starter was absolutely amazing, I'd highly recommend it.
J. R.
Wonderfully quiet with an aroma that takes you places all around the world. A great way to re visit south America and the glorious food it delivers. Great service to top it off and reasonably priced.. for me.. i just got a payrise.. so.. yeah.. stoked about that.
A. C.
Share plates banquet is always delicious. A good variety of food. So much meat. Too much for a reasonable person to finnish
R. B.
Excellent service and amazing food we had the chef's tasting which was several small dishes and mains and it was perfect.
T. N.
Authentic Spanish food. went with my partner from Barcelona and we both loved it. Get the chefs special - the suckling pig is incredible
K. B.
Very delicious food and friendly waiter who was very helpful in making sure my food was gluten free. If I ever find myself in Canberra again, I will definitely go back there
C. M.
Very nice mains with the lamb and pork. Portions could be slightly larger but otherwise a great place for a meat odyssey.
M. L.
Consistently, perfectly cooked steaks and a great red wine menu. Love this place. Meat-and-potatoes!
D.
It's very evident that the chef and staff take a lot of pride in what they do and it is clearly reflected in the food and service. We wanted a special night, and that's what we got.
A. C.
I have been here a number of times over a couple of years and find it hard to fault. The tasting menu is always a good option and good value for the price.
S. S.
I really enjoyed the croquetas, handcut maltagliati pasta, and affogato. The Restaurant also has a nice selection of Spanish wines.
A. C.
Excellent variety of meat offerings (not really an option if you are vegetarian) with very friendly and attentive staff. If you need them there are plenty of gf options.
Y. B.
The food was delicious. Warm environment. Loved the place.
p. c.
Loved it, food sensational and service very professional , we had the chef menu a very good selection of entrees , cured meat and the succulent suckling pig, I would recommend it to anybody
Z. R.
Food really excellent. Mid-priced
Service poor. Waited over an hour between entree and main course.
J. R.
As I was walking to the restaurant the smell of the grill tantalised my senses, perfect on a cold winter's night. Suckling pig, sofrito and a spanish white. What's not to love? Delicious.
A. W.
Meals were very large abd filling. Prices reasonable and service great. Parking difficult on Friday night so went elsewhere and returned Sunday night.
S. A.
Degustation menu good for $55 a head, included about 5 starters and lamb and suckling pig mains. Very filling and nice flavours.
L. A.
Excellent service, they fit us in with no booking on a busy night. Extensive and creative menu, superb food and reasonable price/serving size.
9. g.
Always love the service and food here. One of my favourite restaurants!
S. P.
Excellent service, food was fantastic, make sure you book to get in as it is busy for a reason, it's really good.
K.
Awesome dishes and good service. Chef’s Tasting Menu is the way to go with a chance to taste lots of different things.
D.
The food is pretty good for the price range. But their wait staff are useless on a busy night. Totally better when its quiet at lunch time.
S. O.
Fabulous food and superb service. The chefs tasting menu was devine
R. K.
Good service, and a very nice atmosphere. Only downside was that food wasn't all that amazing, considering the price.
G. P.
Wonderful food. We had the $55 meal. All dishes were great and we had plenty to take home :-)
S. N.
Good location
Modern and clean
Food amazing
Choose wine carefully...
