Great spot to have fish & chips & a drink. I call it the Watson Bay of Sydney in Canberra You are also able to take your own picnic & enjoy the lake.
J. R.
Fresh crumbed fish by the lake!? So good. Highly recommend this place. Called the snapper shack and they do not disappoint. $50 for 2 x snapper and chips plus calamari and cutlets. They also have the support of the yacht club and grateful selection of drinks.
Go try if you, food plus lake side seating make for a great visit guaranteed
D. E.
Great food, good service. Price was okay. We just walked in and lucky to get seats.
A. C.
This is a fast food place with excellent chips and location by the yacht club. The fish part is average - I always just got whatever grilled option on offer and these were fresh if lacking in flavour somewhat. I always come back for the relaxing vibe, spend an afternoon watching kids and families in laughter, and enjoy the breeze from the lake with chips to munch on.
T. V. (.
Delicious calamari rings and chips with a great view of the lake. How can you not visit here and have a snack! Regards @fooderarri
h.
Great outdoor space for families and those who enjoy a picnic as there are plenty of grass area to lay your blankets or rugs on without crowding others!
Though the chips were good the fish, panko crumb prawns, calamari did not reflect the price. In my opinion overpriced for the quality and quantity.
Mostly come for the environment rather than the food!
J. M.
What a beautiful setting. So nice to see so many families out enjoying the sunshine on an autumn day.
We had the share pack for $37 it was so fresh with fish, calamari, prawns and chips, more than enough for two people.
A. P.
This is a great set up for gatherings of all sizes. We had a small family gathering with 4 adults and 3 kids and there was plenty of well spaced seating available. It is on the lakeside and you can bring a picnic blanket and sit on the grass. The menu is not confined to seafood and there is a separate licensed section for drinks and coffees and ice cream to round off the occasion.
J. J.
Pretty good fish and chips, and great value with the kids. Check out the little forest section to the left (if you're facing the lake). My kids call it the secret garden, it's a magical, beautiful place, where the kids imagination can shine.
H. P.
Been there many times. This time went there with interstate guests, I was disappointed with their fish. Order was incorrectly delivered, ordered grilled got battered. There was a young boy taking the order, I guess untrained. The fish tasted below average, although chips were great. Given the price you pay for the food, I won’t risk going again.
Great location btw.
j. c.
Great views, crispy chips and yummy fish burger. Others had fish and chips. We were all really happy with our choices. A place I would go to again.
M. K.
Good and fresh fish and chips. We chose the family pack - grilled salmon, battered barramundi, crumbed prawns and calamari, and chips. All devoured by the family! Has outside seating area (some overhead cover) overlooking the lake.
S. T.
Good fish and chips, but crikey the $4.50 cans of soft drink is up there! Passionfruit gelato was good.
M. f.
I'd love to say 'hidden gem' but it seems pretty much hair of Canberra know about this. Doesn't matter though. It was great. The picnic style setting by the lake with lushous lawns and trees for shade make it ideal for families and those wanting to hang around a while.
And the fish...
So fresh and lovely, and pretty quick too boot. Considering how busy they were. It's one of those order and they give you a pager to collect deals.
Also, there's a bar nearby as well, in case you've run out of cans in the Esky..
Definitely coming back next time in Canberra.
R. K.
The view is great.
The food is OK. There was a confuse - menu states Prawns, while they mean Prawns cutlets. Anyway, they replaced with grilled fish to make sure no bread is present. The staff is friendly.
R. N.
Great location, with unparalleled views across the lake.
The new Snapper is a marginal improvement on the previous iteration, however notable failings still exist. The main issue was the lack of Salt, Pepper, or Tartare sauce. These omissions are unforgivable for an establishment whose primary reason for existence is to supply fish and chips.
Also worthy of mention was the fact that all of the flavoured milks in their fridge were past their shown use-by-dates.
Having said all of that, the cooked food was of good quality and quantity. Service was friendly and prompt.
A. M.
Beautiful spot by the lake to sit back and watch the sailing with some fish and chips. Quick service, dog friendly and big serving sizes. The seafood tasted fresh however the crumbs were quite thick more like a light batter which I didn't enjoy as much.
We will definitely be back though! Looking forward to trying the grilled option next time around.
I. M.
Great food. Standard fish and chip shop menu. Chips are the best. All the other menu items are excellent. Sadly, Snapper seems unable to analyse it's output and have product ready to go at peak periods. Consequently, the wait for food made to order is just over the top. So much potential for an improved production model. When that gets fixed it will be 5 stars.
L. B.
Probably one of the best places in Canberra for fish and chips.
The views are amazing and all the fried food are crispy and perfectly cooked.
M. C. A.
The best fish & chips in Canberra with the Lake Burley Griffin beautiful panorama. Great place for family picnic, including the furry friends.
A. G.
Great views and a chilled out vibe. The fish and chips were very good too, though the fish was a little too oily.
S. S.
Good fish and chips. Ain't cheap, but nothing is anymore. Yeah, I'm old.
Atmosphere was pretty good on a Sunday afternoon, of you like people and live "music".
Personally it's all a bit too fun for me. I miss sitting alone in a dark room and getting drunk in silence. Those were the days.
M. R.
Canberra's best place for fish and chips. Good size grass area for the kids. Good quality food.
P. G.
Grab your battered fish and chips, sit outside and enjoy the sun and watch the small boats on the lake. They all compliment each other to make for a great experience.
K. M. (. K.
A decent single-serve of fish & chips with a view of the lake. It would be nice to have a picnic here to take in the view on a nice day, but you can get cheaper fish & chips from a take out shop - which is just as good, if not better.
O. N.
$17 for one serve of thoroughly average fish and chips. Fish was alright but chips were pretty terrible. Nice setting for families but overpriced.
B. S.
Great food, quick service. It was really busy when we were there so I'd suggest going early and getting yourself a lovely spot my the lake
G. M.
Delicious fish and chips. A little pricey however, the family meals are big in size and easily feeds a family of 5
C. R.
Expensive fish, chips and drinks. Excellent view. Bring your own and sit on the grass!
A. P.
Great place, menu includes many options. Sitting in front of lake is quite nice, just beware of the birds, that will try to steal your food.
D. V.
Really nice spot right on the lake shore. The fish (salmon) and chips were good and the sunset was spectacular.
B. W.
Great place to have awesome fish and chips . Great view in the evening and take a seat to make the most of Canberra
C. J.
Yummy fish, and delicious salad. Great vieby the lake. They also had capital brewery on tap!
D. C.
Absolutely fabulous. Definitely on my We'll be back list 👍 Food amazing, view spectacular, ambience fabulous 😍
L. M.
Great Battered John Dory Fish, Chips and calamari enjoyed with a glass or two of wine in the fresh outdoors at tables and chairs provided
J. W.
Such a perfect spot! The quality of the fish and chips was absolutely perfect and the service was fast for a very busy day
P. W.
Lunch by the lake. Basket for two. Very generous and fresh. Couldn’t eat it all
g. p.
Lovely day Lovely view. Nice food
D. S.
Quick service, decent prices, fantastic fish and chips! Beautiful outlook over the lake
D. L.
The best Fish and Chips in Canberra, and with the best view. Service took ages today, but with the Territory in lockdown and this being one of the most popular places to picnic, that was to be expected. They were very apologetic.
C. F.
Update: they have a new online platform.
Poor experience. Did not accept online orders, and it took 8 days for two failed orders to stop pending on my credit card. Lots of people lined up instead when we should be limiting contact and the staff did not attempt to move people on gathered around the entrance waiting for their orders.
J. H.
Such a great place for fish and chips by the lake... On a nice day it's super-busy but they are really quick and the buzzer system they use means you get to maximise your time with friends. Fish burger is awesome, we get it every time...You have to like your chips crispy!Definitely recommend this as a great option when the Canberra weather is it's spectacular best.
A.
In Canberra, best fish n chips. Still a long way to go to beat Kailis Fremantle Harbour WA.
J. C.
If you are looking for great fish and chips, Snapper is the place to go. Armed with picnic rug, we ordered and found a nice grassy spot overlooking the lake to relax. It was a lovely day and quite busy for mid week. Took around 20 minutes for our order of calamari and chips and barra and chips, to be ready. Worth the wait - just delicious. At $17 per box, it was good value. Totally recommend and will come again.
D. R.
Great food! Good vibes!
A great stop when walking around the lake.
J. J. E.
The location is great. The food is average. The grilled fish is better than the fried one.
E. H.
Great location and choices from the menu. Now has a beer, wine and softdrink bar. Also new is tea and coffee. Lovely.
M. M.
Fresh food, crispy chips nice view of the marina.
M. N.
A lovely setting by the lake for fish and chips. Unfortunately the crumbed fish we had was not up to the previous standard and was a little more expensive. I hope crumbed snapper comes back on the menu.
P. J.
The food and service are great (although I have only ever had fish and chips with the occasional potato scallop and a taste of my wife's Caesar salad and prawns (all great). I can't comment on the coffee because I have not had any. It's been difficult during the pandemic due to them not being able to make their tables and chairs available, but there are public bench chairs and tables - although only a small number widely spread out. Many people take their own folding tables and chairs - these days these are cheap and easy, so this is the way to go even if there are only two of you. Blankets etc would work too. This must be the most pleasant spot in Canberra to have an instant picnic of fish and chips of the highest quality as well as other offerings. It's literally right on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin with a magnificent view over the lake and surrounds. Highly recommended. Take a windbreaker just in case.
S. C.
Great fish and chip, very popular for families. Great venue. Parking is a nightmare.
C.
Outdoor seating and bar is now top notch - great little lunch spot and quiet during weekdays
M. C.
Snapper does a reasonable job considering the number of people it serves. It would be good to have an alternative grilled fish option instead of salmon.
T. S.
Very good service. Great steak. Pork belly entree needed more of that yummy plum sauce
D. R.
Great fish and chips and cold beer. Very windy however when sitting in outside area
L. H.
Lovely setting at the Yacht Club, by the lake. Calamari was good, chips were crisp and good, but the grilled fish was a let-down: soggy and flavourless. Overall, disappointing.
J. O.
A decent variety of drinks, but the food menu is limited. Nothing remotely healthy, so if you're looking for something other than fish and chips and hamburgers, try somewhere else. The food was good, I'm told, but there was nothing I would have eaten. Still, the location is lovely, it's very popular, and not too expensive. Good for kids as there's lots of room to run around.
A. M. N.
Great fish and chips by the lake in Canberra. Bring some picnic chairs and a table as it gets busy and so much nicer to sit in the sun or under the trees as required.
A. W.
Reliably good fish and chips produced quickly at a popular scenic spot. I tried the famous Doyle's fish and chips of Watson Bay last week and neither their fish nor chips were up to Snapper On The Lake (and the price was the same). I've previously enjoyed both snapper and barramundi here. The view by Lake BG is paradise and there is occasionally lovely live music or some other festivity going on. The coffee (LSR beans) is also good.
R. H.
Amazingly quick service. Fish is delicious. Great spot on a warm day.
G. D.
Tables had not yet opened up but lovely being outdoors beside the lake. Grilled fish and chips at usual good standard.
R. W.
We decided to have our Christmas party by the lake. Lucky to have glorious weather and fish, chips and great local wines from Snapper. Such an chilled way to finish the year with a delicious picnic in the sun.
R. I.
Great Location,Good food chips are the best must try.
J. W.
Excellent crumbed dory and chips today and nice cold beer. Service is very good.
C. F.
Delicious fish and chips. Nice view for the lake.
A. F.
Great atmosphere and kid friendly. Would be even better if there were more vegan options.
S. M.
Used to be absolutely smashing, sadly now all the seafood is frozen before being cooked, not much selection, oily and well not worth the amount charged.
Great location. Great for a one off visit. But there are better, much better fish and chips in Canberra.
V. C.
Lovely battered fish. Nice atmosphere.
S. T.
The food isn't anything to write home about, but that view, and the large open area next to the water for kids to run around, or just sit and watch the water... Amazing.
A. D.
Love the atmosphere. Sitting by the lake is lovely. The fish, chips, and prawn cutlets are all delicious. The potato cakes were pretty mediocre though. Not terrible, just nowhere near as good as everything else.
S. A.
Super efficient service, good food. My visit was on an extremely busy Christmas eve date.
V. D. L. C.
If you're looking for a fish and chips in Canberra, this is definitely the place to go. The battered fish was delicious. On a sunny day it's great place to go to catch up with friends.
C. B.
Great fish and chips. Setting is lovely by the Lake
L. R.
Great outdoor seating, nice selection of local Canberra beers.
R. H.
Prawns, as ever were beautifully cooked & I'm told the fish was crisp & tasty.
J. P.
Best crunchy chips ever and delicious fish prawn cutlets and calamari
A. M.
Very nice place with affordable prices. I ordered grilled salmon (50g probably) but the taste was ok
j. p.
Always an awesome arvo in the sun, fish n chips and beer in hand.
R. S.
We went there on a fairly miserable day but we were out of the wind so it was fine. We had fish and chips and they were excellent, just wish they would not use plastic forks and glasses. Lots of parking around and if you want to go to a restaurant there is one at the same venue.
E. d. J.
What: A (mostly) seafood takeaway place next to the Canberra dam (yes, it's man-made so dam, not lake)
Why: Beautiful spot next to the water, lots of grass so good family spot.
Why not: My fish was smothered in chips, likely in the hope that I wouldn't notice how small it was.
B. H.
After lining up for 20 minutes to order the family lunch pack and waiting for 30+ minutes to be finally served it may the end product was even more delicious then expected due to hunger and anticipation. The batter was crispy (grilled fish juicy / not oily), the fish was fresh and the chips hot and crunchy. A very solid effort with an idyllic backdrop of boats on the lake and Telstra Tower in full glory.
K. M.
Awesome food and awesome service!!!
Emily was great extremely friendly!
Thank you for a1 service!
C. M.
Very busy on weekends and special occasions eg Mothers Day. But great Fish n chips and quick service. Dogs allowed on leashes. Good family picnic spot on the grass by the lake.
S. V.
Fabulous fish and chips where you can bring a picnic rug and set up around the Lake Burley Griffin foreshore. Gets incredibly busy Fri nights and weekends.
Upstairs is the Southern Cross yacht club that has a two or three course set menu or you can purchase a burger, wedges etc, cocktail or drink from the bar menu. Great atmosphere and outlook, and has both indoor and outdoor seating.
N. M.
Love this place. It's a lovely spot to take people from out of town to see the lake. Took my relatives there and they liked the food. They have salads and coffees as well as seafood.
P. T.
Food very clean cooked great, will be back
R. C.
The location is great, weather permitting this is one of the best spots to sit down and enjoy the lake for what it can be.
Food is made ready and cooked to perfection.
Had the grilled fish and it was so tender my fork was all but useless.
P.
Loved every minute of my visit. Food is amazing and I will definitely be back with the family.
C. F.
We purchased the Family Pack and it was delicious. Chips were crispy, seafood was fresh and there was so much food. We had a great time in great company. Kids had a great time exploring as well. Will definitely be back.
T. T.
Fish and chips were yum but really slow service on a weds evening and portion sizes disappointing
T. B.
Amazing service, beautiful views, great atmosphere amd good fish and chips at decent prices! Thanks!
A. G.
Great location for dinner by the lake. Casual out door covid safe eating. Fresh and tasty seafood and salads. Classic beer and fish and chips.
Well worth the trip to Canberra
J. R.
Lovely place to sit outside. Great grass area to have a picnic, or bring a ball or other gear and let the kids run riot.
The fish and chips are lovely. The service has never been a problem. It is pricey, but you're paying for a lot more than the food. The good thing is that the food is actually good, so worth it, if a nice location is what you're after.
J. B.
Great setting by the lake particularly on a warm afternoon. The fish and chips are on the pricey side but you get nice fish for that. The staff are friendly and orders are served quickly.
P. H.
Very relaxing on a beautiful Autumn day. Totally packed but food was prepared quickly, John Tory perfectly cooked.
A. C.
Lovely hot chocolate, mum loved her gin and tonic.
D. S.
We're talking "beach worthy" fish & chips; and quite the best we've had in Canberra for many years
R. Y.
The fish was delish, and I am glad friends showed me this place as I would have missed out on a great little fish place... been looking for a good one.
The pkgs and prices are reasonable also. And the place is licensed, with outdoor only seating... but if on a walk round the lake - heartily recommended.
M. B.
Nice crummed snapper, awesome calamari rings, delicious chips. Super busy with all the Christmas parties this year, the queue was sooo long (I didn't mind so much cause had beers to keep me happy) but they were pumping the food out. Several hundred people feed with in a couple of hours!
K. D.
A great place on sunny day, having fish and chips on the grass.
D. S.
Food and service are good. View is terrific.
J. P.
Great fish and chips, lovely outdoor area!
C. S.
Lovely outlook, white linen table cloths and decent cutlery in the marquee, let down by fairly average meals. The "fish of the day" didn't even come with a salad. I'd be happy to pay slightly more for a "complete" meal which matched the atmosphere. The drinks menu was limited and very expensive. Just didn't seem to make sense
I. H.
Very relaxed and casual place. Basically offers a rang of fish and chip type meals, plus burgers and salads. Members can book ahead for under cover tables. The lakeside location is a key feature of the place. Most seating is outdoors.
T. L.
Food was fantastic. Best fish in canberra
M. C.
The best fish n chips in Canberra right on Lake just a beautiful spot for a picnic 😋
N.
Consistently great fish and chips with beautiful lake views. Service is always fast and friendly and items are well priced. The fish pack for two was delicious. Highly recommended - provably the best fish and chips in Canberra.
D. R.
The fish and chips are pretty good, the prices are a touch too high, and would love to see some more sustainable fish options, but still one of the best fish and chips in Canberra
G. M.
Visited on 27 Dec 2020, exceptionally busy but staff manage the queue very well and with good COVID19 safe practices. Disappointing that the order buzzer didn't work and no staff came to advise us it wasn't working. When we asked the staff what happened to our order, they offered to cook us new food if it was cold (because it was waiting a while).
G. N.
we ordered 3 serves of battered fish and chips at 12.15pm on a Sunday and was surprised that our buzzer went off before we even sat down.
The staff were polite and the service was fast. The battered fish today was cod and the fish was thick and moist and the batter was light and crispy. it was so good we went back for an extra piece! the chips were beer battered and left unsalted. salt and vinegar was provided if needed.
sitting outside the yacht club on a sunny Sunday afternoon was just perfect.
I highly recommend this spot for fish and chips.
F. S.
Delicious menu, beautiful location, service delivery improves every year. Incredibly popular. Great hours during summer Perfect meal fir a picnic by the lake Veet clean. Wheekchair parking and accessible.
m. i.
great service and awesome food, even better more tables and great scenic views
D. P.
Good fish & chips & salads on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. Pleasant outlook. Can be BUSY at weekends & public holidays. Ideal for a family picnic or group get together.
A. A. N.
Very nice fish and chips, a bit pricey though
P. E.
This is the smartly appointed restaurant at the Canberra Yacht Club; Part of the Canberra Southern Cross Club. Lunch is either two or three courses from Entree, Main, and Dessert. Prices are reflective of the food and the atmosphere.
B. G.
A nice place where to have a good fish&chips with a beautiful view on the lake. Very large portions ! A bit greasy but the fish is super fresh.
A. C.
Very nice fish and chips with friends
A. L.
Great location and quick service. Plenty of outdoor tables. Great fish burger.
H. K.
Got some takeaway from here and drove it back the Belco. Still hot and crispy when I got home.
They let me keep my beers in the cold room whilst I waited for my order to be cooked.
C. A.
For a place that you think would be more up market, it was basic pub food for the mains. Chicken, steak, pasta, or battered seafood (no fresh option). Nice food, just not what I was expecting for the area.
A. G.
Nice little shop tucked away near the yacht club. Chips were nice. Had the calamari which was good. A lovely little spot by the lake. Great on a sunny day.
D. S.
This is the second time we have lunched at Snapper on the Lake. The first time the area was packed and even finding space on the grass was a struggle. Today, not holidays, we were out numbered by the seagulls and it was nice. The "fish pack for two" feed three of us without problems. The fish was tasty, the calimari rings were tasty, not sure about the prawns (my wife and daughter had had finished then before I had a chance to try them) and the included chips was enough for three. We will return the next time we are in Canberra.
R. C.
Really good fish and chips. Quite a busy place at dinner time. Didn't have to wait too long.
L. H.
Delicious fish and chips, served in a timely way despite the crowds! Love sitting by the lake on a warm evening and enjoying the ambience, with friends. 😀
G. N.
Best Fish and Chips in Canberra
Just need to watch the weather. If there is a strong breeze it can be a bit unpleasant, however it is a terrific place for a family outing and even a casual work day lunch. Highly recommended.
M. Y.
Delicious Fish and Chips in a great location. Perfect on a sunny day.
L. W.
Snapper on Lake Burley Griffin offers splendid views of the water and the CBD. The food on sale is delicious with refinement in texture and a strong sea taste in the calamari especially. The price is moderate and there is a generous serve with each selection on the menu. The service is efficient and staff are informative and polite.
T. C.
Great meal, fast, entrance is Lake side, construction works currently blocking direct access
R. B.
Called in for lunch. Can't say it's the best fish and chips I've had. I had grilled dory which still had a number of bones in it and had been left under the grill a tad too long. R ge chips were hot and crispy and cooked well. Also tried the crumbed calamari which was cooked well and tender. My wife had the battered fish which was cooked well.
C. M.
The best fish and chips in town.
K. H.
Best fish and chips in Canberra
S. (.
Great area for a fish and chip picnic! Lots of room for kids to explore and adults to catch up. The line up for food was long but moved very quickly, food was also ready very fast. Crumbed fish was yummy!
s. p.
Very pleasant place to have fish.and chips. The surrounds, the food and access to toilets is great. Will go again.
N. L.
Great fish and chips! Nice place for a picnic.
A. N.
Great fish & chups, as well as fantastic calamari and potato cakes! Nice family atmosphere.
D. B.
Great place to bring the family! Byo food and drinks, or get some takeaway fish and chips from the Cafe.
Great day, pack the picnic rug to sit on, and a jumper to protect against the wind.
W. M.
Lovely position by the lake. Fish and chips are excellent. Good selection of wines but eyewateringly expensive for a licensed club.
E. H.
Firstly it's great they now have the option of grilled fish, good for gluten intolerance, and also the terrific views of the lake are hard to beat. Nice quick service and friendly staff are always welcome as well.
R. L.
Excellent fish and chips. Pleasant views over the lake just outside.
J. M.
Beautiful location, best outlook in Canberra.
D. P.
Great Fish and chips and despite look after number of people fast, hot and really good. The calamari tough but then cod was amazing and the crumbled prawns good too.
A. J. C.
Lovely food that came quickly and was delicious. Perhaps a touch expensive.
B. C.
This would have to be the best combined venue and fish & chips in Canberra. It is always delicious. It can get very busy though so be prepared to wait on popular days but its worth it. If only Lake Burley Griffin was a real beach then it would be about perfect!
O. L.
Stopped by for a quick dinner. Service was prompt and efficient and the food was tasty and nicely presented. It was quite busy and noisy, but a short stroll to the waters edge provided a quieter experience. Higher prices than you might find at the coast but not excessively so.
J. D.
Fresh food , quick service beautiful scenery .
L. W.
The location is amazing, food was tasty and delivered really fast! We were lucky it was perfect weather for our visit and we could enjoy dining outside.
N. L.
Fantastic views and great food a great stop for lunch, plenty of seating with tables outside or pick a spot on the grass near the man made Lake
K. M.
Lovely location and the chips are yummy
D. T.
Lovely place by the lake. Almost feels like being by the beach! Bustling atmosphere on the weekends in summer. Great fish & chips, a bit on the pricey side however.
D. H.
Nice place... Wonderful
B. R.
Top spot for fish and chips on the grass.
D. E.
Always good value and tasty seafood to eat. Great views of the lake from the outdoor tables.
C. T.
Fresh fish, light batter, fast service with a view. Can’t fault it.
F. B.
Great quality as always! Remember to bring your mat and enjoy next to the lake!
N. L.
Yummy chips, but pricey and pretty bad customer service.
I. S. (. t. S.
Having not being for at least 18 months
I found that the portion size has some what Diminished
Added to the fact of eating from wooden knives and forks does not do it for me
They do have a couple of good locally brewed beers .....(BS & CB)
However the range is small and some what over priced compared to the brewpub price
Other than that I can see the facade is rather tired and dated and is in need of over make over
And lastly turn the outside speakers off
It’s too loud and unnecessary
I rather listen too children playing, and seagulls squawking along with the Ching Ching Ching of the masts on the yacht
B. H.
As close to Fish and Chips at the beach that you'll find in Canberra. Great views.
H. W. b. B.
Great place for a drink, coffee and bite to eat with great views. Lots of space to bring a rug and have a picnic by the lake.
a. s.
The fish and chips are standards however the place is nice. You can do a picnic on the lake. Great place for group outing
I. M.
Basic 'hole in the wall' cafe that had great seafood, wine and a great outlook. Makes for a very pleasant afternoon. Kids can run around. Watch the sailing. Nice
I. S.
A bit of a wait in the queue to order but the fish and chips came out quickly. A nice place to eat on a sunny day, grab a picnic rug and sit in the shade of the nearby trees and watch the boats on the lake.
T. K.
Such a beautiful place to sit, relax and have a nice cold beer with the most delicious fish n chips in the ACT.
Highly recommended.
C. M.
Magic. Just watching families having fun, boats on the Lake and listening to some great music and enjoying some great snapper n chips outside the Yacht Club too. Who said Canberra has no soul....
M. J.
Superb hot fish great chips sitting by the lake....beautiful even in pouring rain and very fast service😊😊😊😊😊
C. B.
Delicious fish and chips. Always amazing.
J. A.
THE BEST FISH N CHIPS PLACE IN CANBERRA... Our fishes were so meaty, fat, chunky and fresh, just how I like it... Making this our #1 Fish n Chips place to come to... Keep up the awesome work!
E. C.
Highly recommended for the relaxed atmosphere. Lots of families and other groups sitting out under the trees, listening to live music, and enjoying the lake. Food is OK.
A. C.
Very prompt service however, the Barramundi I had was sadly over cooked and dry. Sorry for the criticism but this will make a better experience for future dinners.
D. G.
Fantastic spot on the lake, very popular
s. l.
Lovely relaxed way to spend an evening. Good sized portions and tasty. Chips could be a bit better.
P. K.
At this moment, it has been forced to operate as a takeaway only. Can be difficult to get parking.
Q. L.
Great fish and chipsby lake. Serves beer as well. Good location to take family too on summer day note car parking can get tricky so go early.
A. M.
To be honest, I was disappointed with the food. The view is great, no doubt, but they need to work on their menu and offer something exciting
J. G.
Long wait on a Saturday evening, but the fish and calamari were excellent. Nice place to hang out beside the lake as long as you don't mind lots of other people having out around you :-)
D. C.
Snappers has tasty fish & chip meals ( i had calamari which was also good ) - they also provide eco-friendly knives forks & serviettes with the food.Pleasantly located lakeside tables & chairs outside.
M. L.
A bit of a wait, but food was fresh and yum!
E. A.
Great place to relax and enjoy fish & chips by the lake with family and friends.
Fast and friendly service and a reasonable price
L. Y. (.
Great battered fish & chips, but a bit expensive for the size. The lake view is the best part, but don't go on a windy day.
A. M.
Friendly service and not too busy 6th 6
C.
Nice fresh fish & a great location
V. C.
Great little spot with a nice view. Chips and crumbed prawn were deliciously fresh and crunchy. Battered fish was better than crumbed in my opinion.

T. “. D. D. A.
Nice being next to the lake and watching all the boats. A bit expensive for fish and chips and parking is difficult too.
C. W.
Nice environment, average food
R. M.
The food is excellent and the service is fast. The location is great, being right on the lake reserve and there is plenty of seating
A. G.
The food cannot be faulted. BUT you can't have a bottle of water on the table after asking for one. The glasses were tiny and only were ever half filled. It is a club after all. The best top restaurants give you a bottle of water. This nees to addressed.
C.
Great setting, good fish and chips with an excellent cider. Sundowners on the lawn watching the sailing is the ideal summer evening.
I. K.
The fish and chips were really good and fresh
