Thoroughly enjoyable, I'll be back. Enjoyed a 3 course lunch that left us waddling out the door sated. Staff friendly, attentive and intuitive service well done team. The chef able to cook a roo loin so that it was moist, tender and tasty. Never thought that I would compliment roo in that way! Quality of rest of dishes stunningly good as well.

A visit down to a rainy Canberra just turned out to a very good start. As I was driving by its famous Lake Burley Griffin and drove past a nice looking restaurant, I thought that having a nice lunch would be a good way to start and I was not wrong. I was warmly welcomed by Fritz and Pathum who showed me to, in my opinion, the best table in the house with a fabulous view of the lake. There I sat and enjoyed a superb 3 course Menu which could not have been tastier from the entrée to the dessert. Hats off to the chef!
A big thank you also to Rashim who along with Fritz and Pathum looked after me and made my day a lot better than expected. I had without a doubt the best service possible and I will most certainly be coming back to the Waters Edge, next time I visit Canberra.

My wife and I celebrated her birthday yesterday and after trying several times in the past to obtain a reservation, we finally got one. This place is always booked out and for good reason. The service was friendly, restaurant was quiet even though it was full of diners, the music was low which meant my wife and I could speak at normal levels (this is important to us). We had the three course degustation and the chef made allowances for my wife’s dietary requirements. The cuisine was unreal, I had the best risotto ever and the other courses complemented each other perfectly and it all cost less than I expected. Thank you Water’s Edge for a fantastic experience.

Amazing food. Had the 5 course chefs selection. Explosion of flavour in every course. The new pork jowl was very tasty with the apple bacon sauce. Very tender and juicy. Quite full afterwards. Very happy with the excellent service also.

Great experience - celebrated my husband's birthday here with a 3 course meal. The views were great, the food delicious and the service perfect. We'd happily come back!

Absolutely amazing food. Water's Edge provides a fine dining experience equal to, if not better, than any other restaurant in Canberra.
Nestled on the edge of Lake Burley Griffin, the restaurant provides wonderful views of the lake through it's expansive floor to ceiling windows, and is easily accessible with ample parking close by.
The chef provides fantastic meals, that not only taste amazing, but are a visual treat.
The staff are extremely courteous and attentive to your every need.
If I could give six stars for the Water's Edge Restaurant, I would.
A wonderful experience for couples, special occasions or groups looking for that higher dining experience.
Kudos to the Chef and staff.

Highly recommend this restaurant. I came here to try out their special offer which was the 89 dollars 5 courses. The food quality compare to this price is very competitive. Every dishes came out perfect except for the lamb blackstrap was over cooked. I got my one was close to medium well and wife’s one was almost well done. And that has to taken a star down. Services was on the spot. And also idk if any other people noticed or not. The carpet looks a bit too greasy and dirty for me.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a 5 course degustation at Waters Edge Restaurant tonight.
From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and provided excellent table service.
Each beautifully presented and delicious course was brought to our table by Avi, the head chef, who explained each course clearly to us. It is always appreciated when a chef takes the time to meet with the diners. It makes the evening even more special and memorable.
We would highly recommend an evening out at Waters Edge Restaurant if you are looking for somewhere special to go.

Great setting with food and service to match. Will definitely be going back.

Fantastic. You can't beat the view. The food is exactly what I expected. Good service. You get what you pay for. I struggled in Canberra paying high prices for average food. This restaurant is worth the price. I came out feeling happy happy. Note: it's fime dinning so don't come warrior hungry come for the experience.

My partner and I went to dinner here a few weeks ago. We had a lovely experience. The team were attentive & the wine list was very hood, too. The food is sensational - highly recommend the degustation! Really great dishes beautifully plated, fresh produce and very decent portions despite being a fine dining restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
A. S.
celebration dinner for 4 and very enjoyable...nice setting and service...
food was delicious although the portions were on the smaller side...
not silly small though...had a great Aussie bubbles from the list and
had a lovely night.

We had Boxing Day dinner here. We had the 3 course set menu. The quality of ingredients were excellent and tasty. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the lake view adds to the ambience. Well worth the trip.

POST COVID DINING
Impeccable service.
Firstly, well done on this team. The service was amazing and each person went above and beyond. Compliments to the chef. We ordered the 3 course meal. They Brought everything in a timely manner. The cutlery was clean and replaced regularly.
The tables had social distance in place, yet we all had a beautiful view of the sunset. We came in at 18.30. They were very accomodating.
They had very cute pre favours. So they have us little taster meals between our orders and they were complimentary. So a good way to have people curious. They also asked for allergies and food preferences at the beginning which is a plus. We checked in and got settled.
I wasn’t a fan of one of the desserts- it just didn’t sit well with me. They happily replaced it. The total bill was short of 200 including the drinks. We had two pots of tea.
They also took our coats and brought them back out. I genuinely enjoyed my experience here. Will be coming back on another visit.

Came here to celebrate my partners birthday. Had previously been to Courgette. Heard the this was a sister restraunt. The restraunt itself was spaced out and decorated nicely. The view of the lake is also pleasant to look at whilst having dinner. Although it is on the pricier side of things, I would say the food is worth it. My personal favourite was Waygu and the Banana Parfiet.
Unfortunately, the service was not worth it. The main factor that discourages me from returning was the waiter. There obviously had been minimal training at best. They didn't know what was in the majority of the dishes. They also had no clue regarding nice pairings. Throughout our meal they constantly had to go ask another waiter our questions. This really took away from what should have been a nice experience.

Went here last night for our wedding anniversary and to have a night out after all the lockdowns. Obviously we wanted a special night and a bit of a treat. The service , the food, the care given by the staff and the interest by the Manager, Fritz, was first class. Add to that the beautiful views across the Lake as the sun set and the lights came on made for a magnificent night. Nothing was too much trouble and the price I thought was great value for the quality and service. I highly recommend this venue and I know we will be back and not need a reason or occasion to attend.
M.
Overall, around a ~6/10 given expectations and the price point.
Location is undeniably excellent, right on the water with a view over the lake towards the war memorial.
Try and get a table next to the glass if possible.
Service was polite, friendly and attentive throughout the meal.
However, a level below what I would consider fine dining (no real description of what's in the food, wine recommendations etc.)
We had the 3 course set menu, which included two complementary mini courses which were a nice surprise (tomato gazpacho + a deconstructed apple crumble with apple sorbet) with the gazpacho the pick of the two.
Overall, I'd say it's more of an elevated bistro standard rather than fine dining at an excellent location.
Just make sure you specify how you want the lamb cooked or get a different main.
Specifics below
Entrees
Quail - solid tasting dish but extremely small as an entree for a 3 course menu (essentially two mouthfuls of the quail).
Barrata - not too much to add here. We enjoyed it, was a fairly standard barrata entree and a decent sized portion.
Main
Lamb Backstrap - the sauce, vegetables, puree were all nice, but unfortunately the lamb was extremely overcooked. It was what I would call well done, which is fairly unforgivable for this type of cut and really lowered my overall rating of the food.
Now I hadn't specifically asked for medium rare when I ordered, but my expectation would be that rare to medium rare is the standard for lamb at any decent restaurant unless someone asks for something different.
Fish of the day - Monkfish was nice, cooked well, good combination of flavours.
Dessert
Panna Cotta - nice passion fruit Panna Cotta, dish was a good combination of flavours/textures.
Semi freddo - fairly ordinary, flavour combinations didn't quite work and the texture was a bit mealy.

Marvellous and Perfection
Restaurant type: Set menu, 3 or 5 course
I got this restaurant as an ad when I was looking for a good place for dinner for my wedding anniversary in Canberra.
One word that I never could use elsewhere, even in Melbourne and Sydney is, Perfection.
I’m a qualified chef, and I can say it’s ‘The Place’ to visit for a classic time.
The plates in which the food was served, even those had the temperature right to what was served in them. My wife rated me to have a good taste, but the fact was it was luck. And the good one.
By the lake, absolutely spot on service, highest food quality, great presentation and taste was mind blowing.
Shall revisit again.

Been there recently and had 5 course degustation. Some of the courses were really great but the main highlight was the service given by purnima (don’t know if I spell correctly). She was very professional and she knew what she was doing. She was lovely, attentive and very prompt to read the mind. She stole the show with her humble and professional nature at the same time.
I. A.
An unassuming entrance leads to a nice simple yet elegant dining room with views of the lake and the War Memorial in the distance. Flags of the nations flank the side of the restaurant. I was told that currently during COVID, seating times are restricted so we only had the 3 course set lunch. It was enough to showcase the skill of the chef and quality expected of a Hatted Restaurant as each of our table of 4 effectively had something different for each course. Beautiful food and beautiful location. Worth booking for a special occasion. The only thing I would say requiring some attention would be the skill and confidence of junior wait staff. Trembling hands, positioning of plates, and the pouring of wine all adds or takes away from the experience of fine dining. Nothing more practice won’t fix and no better time than now when trade is a little slower.
K. E.
A lovely ambient dining experience by the water’s edge. The lamb entree was a little fatty and underwhelming but everything else was fantastic. Very good wine selection and attentive customer service.
E. B.
We had a wonderful dining experience in a stunning location.
The staff were attentive.
Each meal was beautifully balanced and delicious.
The stuffed chicken breast and scallops were the highlight.
Thank you for making my birthday and our first night out after lockdown a pure delight!
G.
Good service, good food, imaginative. Great location.
E. T.
Really good service. View is nice and no complaints. Parking is easy. The food is great but not the best. Definitely have signs of fine dining, but plenty of room for improvement. For the cost, there are stronger competitions. Overall happy with the dishes
I.
We had our staff Christmas lunch at Waters Edge and it was a massive hit with exceptional food and friendly service. The whole experience was fabulous. A big thank you to the Chef, Fritz, Purnima and the staff!
P. S.
Had a wonderful evening. Food was great
Good wines. Staff were really good ... helpful with wines and making a custom mocktail for a non drinker.

Came on a Sunday night and enjoyed the 5 course degustation menu. The atmosphere was superb, with beautiful views of the lake, and subtle, relaxing ambience. Food was served in a timely manner and all 5 courses were delicious, although we were not notified of a menu variation for one of our courses (we were served duck instead of lamb). Otherwise, the service was excellent and the waiter was highly professional and proactively attended to our needs. One minor inconvenience was that the headlights of cars outside would sporadically shine through the windows of the restaurant, but that was not enough to dampen our excellent dining experience.
J. B.
We had a lovely dining experience for our second wedding anniversary. The staff are lovely and food is delicious. Our only criticism would be to update the décor to modernize and compliment the beautiful lake scenery.
M. B.
Went there mid week for a work dinner and went with the 7 course chef choice option. Food was very good with a few surprises in some dishes (chocolate sauce on the venison!). Crocodile croquettes were very good and it’s something I probably wouldn’t have ordered al la carte.
Service was also very good (thanks Aman!) and attentive with nothing being too much trouble. Overall a very nice evening with a great view and great food! Recommended.
K. C.
Wow .. we had such a remarkable evening with the special 5 course dinner, each paired with wines from Mount Majura vineyard and each dish with truffle from the Truffle farm. Food was exquisite and so very well presented. The service team were so very, very good. We loved how well the venue was set up and each table had there view of the lake and up to the Australian War Memorial. Lovely evening. So very well done.

One of best locations in the capital, excellent food, amazing desert, friendly and professional service.
This is a place for a special event, nice dinner or a constructive lunch with new stakeholders.
One of the best views-relaxing waterfront, but with a feeling of being somehow still close to the heart of the city.
It has elements of high-level service, but not the one that makes you too formal, but rather special. :) There is a right balance in this, with elements of relaxed and friendly environment still.:)
5 course degustation dinner was amazing!
It also allowed us to have a lovely conversation, while trying chef choices and appreciating insights and explanations of each course.
We left with smiles. :) Hope to be there back! :)

Really nice food definitely somewhere to go on a birthday or anniversary.
Service was very good also.

Had a wonderful experience here. Loved the food, great presentation and friendly staff. A great place to spoil your loved ones. Will definitely be coming back. They also provided some extra surprise dishes for us which was very nice. The pork jowls was my favorite. The apple pudding was a little strong on ginger so I wouldn't recommend it if u don't like ginger. Great location next to the lake with nice views and more romantic at night time. The restaurant was busy but not noisy like many other places.
Would definitely recommend.

First class!
The Waters Edge restaurant is a great place for lunch or dinner, fantastically located on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin next to the international flags. The Staff & Service are professional, courteous & attentive adding to a First class experience. The menu has a great selection of dishes guaranteed to please the fussiest of eaters. There are many meal selections 3 & 5 course meals, entrees & mains.
We had the 5 course and every dish was beautifully prepared and delicious.compliments to the kitchen for serving such well presentedand tasty meals. The decor is modern and has a very elegant feel about it. We have no reservations in recommending The Waters Edge restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food and a dinning experience. We will definitely be returning for another First class experience.
We give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ & 👍👍

We had a 60s birthday lunch here for my sister in law. We were very happy with the 3 course lunch menu. $66 p/p, it's a valuable meal.
I am very happy with my entrée - Roo Fillet, main-Wagyu Sirloin. Only my dessert-the Mango Gelato, it kind of a little disappointed me as the texture didn't like Gelato. It's more like a sorbet.
The others dessert, Banana Parfait and Lemon Mousse are much better.
Meanwhile, the welcome dish, lamb belly croquettes, were very very tasty and the sorbet after the main course was very nice.
Over all, all the dishes of all our order, we have them 92 out of 100. Based on the food quality, price and customer service.
Very recommends everyone to go.
PS, if the air con could cooler, it will even better for a such hot day. (30 degrees today)
D. G.
Great location and the food was wonderful. The staff were also very attentive and friendly. The venue itself is probably showing its age, but overall it was a fantastic experience and the view unparalleled.
m. e.
They should have ques waiting outside the door. The menu has Indian influences and the flavours ar SO interesring and the service is great
J. M.
Gorgeous fine dining menu in a lovely setting overlooking the lake. Attentive and pleasant staff enhanced a memorable night out
G. M.
Food was really good at a standard equal to restruants like La Jules Verne in the Effie Tower, the Restaurant at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.
I have photos and hope they do some justice to the quality of the meals.
A. I.
Beautiful setting, modern interior, great food. Water's Edge restaurant was the perfect location for this function, from the attentive staff to the quality of the food and wines.
C. N.
This is my third year to dine in this restaurant.
Service is always good. Lovely view by the lake. Meal is excellent... I think it was even better than last year.
Highly recommend the degustation dinner.
Note: they also have covid safety procedures in place for customers.
b. g.
Incredible service, amazing atmosphere I will 100% be back again........ and again and again 🥰 not to mention the vegetarian options were definitely the best I've had in Canberra 💯
R. A.
Fantastic service for a large group of 15. Orders were very prompt and the food was complimented by all guests. Thank you.
B. R.
Exquisite food. Beautifully presented, delicious tasting food art. You'll go a long way through many countries to have the equivalent. Worth a long detour. The menu is limited and may seem expensive. Save up - it's worth it. The restaurant décor is simple, which means it doesn't compete with the view - or the food. Don't go expecting a plate piled high with food. Highly recommended.
C. M.
My mother and I went to the Waters Edge before a show at the Canberra Theatre on Saturday night. We had the 4 course meal and the food was absolutely stunning.
Service was impeccable, each course was explained to us by our waiter. I had advised them that we only had 1 hour to finish the meal and they went above and beyond to see that each course came out quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed it, our only regret was that we didn't have more time to sit amd enjoy the amazing food, so we'll be back. Don't miss this great experience.
E. F.
Incredible ambiance, food and wine. Aman was our server for the night: ever polite, professional and kind. Would not hesitate to refer anyone to this establishment.
D. S.
Have fine dined many restaurants Canberra found this restaurant gets a 10 out of 10 all round.
The service was exceptionally professional, friendly and happy.
Food you could not fault a lot of TLC goes into their meals pat on the back for the chef and assistants.
Nice selection of meals to choose from menu, that caters for all dietary requirements .
Atmosphere was very pleasant with exceptional views looking over the lake.
Thanks again to the staff for the exceptional service and for making it a pleasure to dine in your restaurant.

My partner and I had a pleasant lunch. The location is great, the staff is very professional (especially the wine person) and the ambience is nice. I have to say that the food we had, whilst tasty, was very basic: on the other hand it is very well priced.
R. N.
I booked a lunch at this restaurant as a surprise for my husband's birthday. The location and the view from the restaurant certainly gave it a very special touch. The chef was more than happy to accommodate our dietary requirements. Lucky for us, they sent a couple of complimentary dishes our way. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed all the beautiful flavours.
The staff was welcoming and the service flawless. When we asked for a couple of photos they readily obliged - even offered to take some more pictures, in the beautiful sun, after.
We had the most wonderful time at Water's Edge, and we'll be returning very soon.
A. A.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary over a delicious 5 course lunch. The chef was most accommodating and swapped two courses from the fixed ones, to suit my requirements. There were additional edible treats. The flavour combinations were sublime - as were the recommendations for wines to match. The presentation was really lovely too. We appreciated the exceptional service by wait staff - particularly Chris.
Thanks - and well done team. We will be back.
We highly recommend Waters Edge for a special meal.
S. R.
Great service and reasonably priced. I enjoyed the food and wine for lunch
M. C.
The food was delicious. We had the 5 course degustation menu with paired wines. Could not fault the food and the chef really knows his sauces and just! One issue was it seemed a bit rushed at times, but when asked to slow the meals down they immediately obliged. Highly recommended.
N. C.
Food and service were excellent. Beautiful location, great service and a memorable meal.
L. T.
We were visiting Canberra over the weekend and came across this restaurant. Excellent food, kudos to the chef. High quality food for a reasonable price. Excellent service and amazing views too. Would definitely be back!
M. K.
Probably the easiest thing to say about this restaurant is that you get what you pay for. It's budget fine dining, but for the savings you inevitably find something amiss with everything. The restaurant is called 'The Water's Edge', but it's not at the edge of the water: there is a road and a promenade between the dining room and the lake. I had some wonderful steak – except there was a bit of gristle in it. Overall the menu and style are slightly (but not very) dated. The service is attentive, but also slightly off, as if the waitstaff know broadly what is expected of them but not how to execute it precisely.
R. L.
Food was awesome! It’ll be perfect if the decorations and the lighting can have some improvements:)
A. M.
The food was fantastic. Each dish (roo, chicken, banana parfait) had great balance of flavours and textures. A little extra before entree and dessert were nice surprises. I wanted to lick every dish when I had finished (my partner thought that would be common so I refrained). A side of green beans came with snow peas as well. Whilst being a green bean (checked on Google) they are not to my taste and not what I expected so I was disappointed with that. The cutlery I found very difficult to use. Long and thin, it was difficult to get purchase on the food for cutting and manoeuvring. I would have it replaced. Drinks menu was good and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the view in the daylight, dusk and dark.
C. W.
I took my wife for lunch on her birthday. The food and service was very nice.
M. S.
Just a delightful night with very delicious food - fine dining with perfect balance of flavours. We had the three course dinner and every course was outstanding. Great service and and lovely views - we will be coming back!
C. P.
Sunday 7/1/18 Wedding Anniversary 4 course meal Was the best food in town , Wife said the Lemon Deconstructed desert was Orgasmic Would recommend this Place
C. M.
Delicious food excellently prepared. Very pleasant outlook over the lake.
Recommended for a special meal!
T. F.
Exquisite food ... could not wait to try it... was not disappointed...
Expensive but worth the experience!

My friend and I went to Canberra to see the Botticelli to Van Gogh exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia last Wednesday, the lunch at Water's Edge was the cream on top of the experience, the location is perfect, the view is stunning and the food is delicious, overall we had a fantastic day, thanks to the very friendly stuffs too. I would definitely go back and tell all my friends about it.
D. T.
We just had a delightful 5 course degustation lunch to celebrate our 49th Wedding Anniversary at Water's Edge. As usual the food was beautifully prepared and presented and even the dairy free versions were imaginative and appetising (ie some o often dairy free desserts options can be limited to fruit salad, not so at Water's Edge). The wait staff are very helpful and obliging and all in all our celebration was made very special. Water's Edge is fast becoming our favourite restaurant in Canberra.
C. M.
Great place, fantastic location amazing 4 course lunch. Amazingly prepared and presented, flawless table service.
We had an outstanding Valentine's day and will definitely be back again soon.
a. b.
great food, service and location!
highly recommend!!
D. R.
Great service and delicious meals - we had zucchini fritters and pulled pork tacos. We also sat outside in the sunshine overlooking Lake Burley Griffin and Mt Ainslie. So picturesque.
I. B.
My partner and I enjoyed dinner at Waters Edge restraunt on Saturday 13th February 2021.
A Very pleasurable experience.
Waiting staff were excellent, both attentive and friendly.
The food was also excellent, well presented, beautifully cooked and tasty.
I will definitely be making another reservation at this restraunt.
D. P.
Going to Canberra for the Botticelli to Van Gogh exhibition, we took the random step from the NGA for some refreshment, and take in Lake Burley Griffin.
In our random walk to find some refreshments, this amazing restaurant came into our view. Our random walk in!
What a delight, amazing views. The food was exquisite from the prawn entree to the risotto and stunning Barramundi, all washed down with a delightful Chardonnay from an excellent wine list.
Finally, the staff were exceptional!
J. M. M.
If your looking for a fine dinning experience I highly recommend Waters Edge. Food is exquisite with table service to match. Well priced and in the best location in Canberra overlooking Lake Burley Griffin.
J. O.
Interesting experience, salt & pepper was presented in plastic Woolworth dispensers which was quite tacky. We asked for steak knives for our meal and they couldn't source any, so I was given the Chefs personal knife. Quite comical given it was such a basic request. Overall food and service was pleasant and we had a nice meal.
J. B.
Surprised and impressed. This is one "Iconic" experience that turned out to be better than expected. Surprisingly good value for an impressive degustation menu set in a unique destination.
B. G.
Great upmarket restaurant, service n food was great
Very good wine list
E. D. S.
Delicious meal. Three courses for $77. The Lamb entree and wild mushroom risotto were the standouts. They go above and beyond for those celebrating a special occasion.
M. S.
Had a great meal for our sons 21sr birthday. Fantastic views too😊
A. B.
A fresh taste on fine dining.
We were looking for a new restaurant experience to celebrate a birthday. We were recommended Waters Edge by our niece. What a great dining experience. A wonderful mix of offerings on the 4 course menu (supplemented by 2 more treats from the restaurant). I recommend you look up the menu as the options read well but are even better in the presentation as well as taste. Every dish was a combination of taste sensations. Appropriately sized portions to leave us feeling satisfied. The setting is great and the service was pleasant and informative.
S. M.
Phenomenal experience. Top notch food, atmosphere, and wait staff. Delicious high quality plates, selection of wines and great service.
We tried all their entrees, one of their desserts, and everything was de-li-cious. Highly recommended. We had Great atmosphere and would love to visit again.
F. S.
Excellent place for fine dining over the lake. Could not fault food, service, view or cost. Short menu but something for everyone at $66 per person excellent value for a memorable meal
W. S.
We were given a nice private room for our group of 16. The set menu has a good selection and the staff are really friendly. Thank you it was an exceptionally enjoyable evening. Thank you to Chris and Miki and the head chef for the wonderful meal.
G. &. E.
Outstanding! From reception to farewell, quality apparent in every regard. Superlatives flow liberally to explain how wonderful our experience was. Recommend this to anyone who seeks highest standards in all facets of a dining experience. Each plate was a work of art & culinary delight/sensation. Staff were personable, knowledgeable & attentive without being intrusive. The setting is quietly stunning, too.
P. B.
Food was okay but small, overpriced portions. Staff were very courteous but not particularly efficient. Will not be going back despite its great lakeside location.
R. M.
It's a nice place for a mostly older clientele. The food is excellent and the service is excellent. But you get what you pay for. This isn't an inexpensive dining experience. I'm not really a foodie but you might like it more.
N. P.
Thank you to the Water’s Edge team for going above and beyond! I booked for a Sunday night for my partner’s birthday, we’ve always walked past and said we would go sometime. The staff were lovely from the moment I called to confirm my reservation, they were nothing but professional and courteous. On the night the food was perfect from the textures to the seasonings; we particularly loved the kangaroo dish. Although their wine-by-the-bottle list was limited we appreciated the recommendations. Thank you again for making this birthday surprise a huge success!
A.
We came here for our anniversary and loved everything from food to the wine and the warm service. The three course dinner was more than enough for us.
M. H.
Excellent lunch to celebrate our anniversary. Food was tasty and elegantly presented. Staff were attentive and helpful.
Would definitely recommend.
R. M.
Great experience, nice views and excellent food
A. M.
Fantastic location and classy, yet cozy interior. Course sizes are a little small but the quality, taste and presentation of the food makes it absolutely worth going. Service is very friendly and attentive while also discrete. One of Canberra's best spots for a nice date.
C. R.
Food was amazing, the service was brillant, from a person who very rarely drinks they ensured I had a glass full of water at a times (with out having to ask)
The portions were small and would recommend a side if your hungry.
The made the night special as it was our anniversary and recivied a competently cheese cake.
Only improvement would be the drinks menu, if your not a wine drinker there are not many options, adding a cocktail menu would good addition
B. T.
It is a great restaurant right next to Lake Burley Griffin, the water of Canberra. There is a nice view to Lake Burley Griffin. The beef sirloin was a great experience because the beef was tender and yummy. The dessert was especially good and I loved it. One of the best restaurants in Canberra I have tasted.
J. G.
The moment we entered the restaurant, we were greeted warmly and welcomed inside by the waiter Aman. He was hospitable, professional and patient with us. The food was delicious, heartening and incomparable. The environment was sophisticated, calm and befitting of the magnificent location. Overall we were extremely pleased with the service provided and would highly recommend Water's Edge to anyone looking for a fantastic fine-dining experience.

We went to Water's Edge for my wife's birthday dinner and it was a perfect evening. The waiter was excellent giving just the right amount of attention. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Highly recommended for that special romantic dinner!
J. H.
Excellent location, delicious food beautifully presented. Serving sizes were perfect and the service was excellent. Will definitely return when in Canberra again.

I ate the 2 course lunch. The pork belly was deliciously juicy, easy to chew, and the sauces made it very wonderful as a meal. The quail was also very nice. It came in three styles, including what was similar to a quail sausage. I was also able to taste the lamb, as my mother couldn't finish her meal. My favourite was the pork belly. Of my group, everyone was pleased, and enjoyed the meal. For 55 dollars per person, Waters edge is a very nice place to go for a special occasion. I would definitely reccomend. If you enjoy the food here, I can also recommend Courgette, the sister restaurant.

Loved it! My girlfriend & I went to this beautiful restaurant for the first time for our anniversary & the food/service was perfect! Definitely worth a try! We had the degustation menu & the food was so good! Service was beyond amazing & the view is beautiful! Ambience of the restaurant is set perfectly! Thank you

We just came home from a thoroughly wonderful experience at Water's Edge Restaurant. We had a large booking to celebrate a 50th Wedding anniversary for my parents and I couldn't rate it highly enough. The food was absolutely superb - not huge portions but the perfect amount for a three course lunch. The staff was highly attentive and professional, the restaurant was spotless and every member of our party was raving about the experience we had. Congratulations to all at the Water's Edge Restaurant and our compliments to the very talented chef.
A. C.
Had a wonderful evening with my wife having the 7 course degaustation menu with paired wines. The selection was delightful and the pork belly (sadly soon to be changed out) exquisite. The staff were attentive and very welcoming.
Thank you for a lovely experience
A. T.
Wonderful atmosphere, excellent customer service and delicious food.
Very reasonable price so will definitely be back.
T. T.
Went for the five course degustation. All 5 courses were amazing, fantastic flavours, all well cooked. Service was outstanding. We will be back.
M. D.
Had the 4 Course meal for $66. The appetiser was interesting but not something I'd eat again. From here it just jumped several levels. the food was tasty, fresh and creative. The lamb main was one of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten. The staff were friendly and professional and the location was very pleasant. In the end I thought the $66 was very good value considering the quality of the meal we had. Highly recommended.
A. S.
Delicious food, elegant service and a lively view.
C. P.
Had such a fantastic experience here. We had the $80 four course menu and each course was just exquisite. We received excellent service and the venue is really pretty at night with the lights reflecting on the water. So impressed that we went to eat at Courgette the affiliated restaurant a couple of nights later as Waters Edge was closed. We were blown away there also, however it was a little more tricky to access parking wise.
S. H.
Really did not enjoy the meal. We rang and booked for a large family group everyone was to order their choice of meals
Upon arriving we were told we would be given the degustation menu. With food allergies some of the dishes could not be eaten. Many left hungry and in no hurry to return.
s. l.
Lovely views & service was great. 3 course meal was just right & very tasty. A beautiful night for our anniversary
D. H.
A great dining experience
P. D.
Thoroughly enjoyed the degustation lunch with my wife. The meals were wonderfully presented, delicious and the service was excellent. A truly fantastic experience, comes highly recommended!

We went to the Waters Edge restaurant to celebrate my husband's retirement and it is a beautiful venue, with an outstanding menu, excellent service with lovely attentive staff.
We were all very impressed and would highly recommend Water's Edge restaurant.
s. s.
Fabulous experience overall. My close relative often dines at this restaurant, and I sometimes attend with him. The food is exquisite and details are spot on. Service is spectacular. Would recommend and will go here again.
M. Z.
Had great experience with my friend. Food was lovely. The menu has variety. We opted for set menu. The restaurant was very simple and we liked the interior. Staff was also very helpful. Food was delicious and very well done.
S. W.
Perfect place when you want to get rid of some excess $$$. Meals are tiny but beautifully arranged, would suit a Barbie.
After having entrey, main and desserts we left slightly hungry but paid a big bill. Too expensive for amount of food you actually get to eat. Tastes good but not amazing.
Guys you need to triple the portions and half the prices!
M. S.
All aspects of our family event at Waters Edge were of a high standard. Management of the service delivery was very personable and welcoming for all guests. This attentiveness was matched by quality cuisine with ample and interesting choices.
I. C.
Fantastic food and great location. Nothing better than sitting in an excellent restaurant, nice and warm, eating great food paired with fine wines while watching the joggers slog around the lake! We had the five course degustation, picked up on Groupon, so really great food at an affordable price.
R. M.
Duck breast with boudin, braised red cabbage, carrot and orange puree and licorice gel was great. A great combination of flavors.
The menu was a four course menu with five choices in each course. A very well balanced menu. Three of us dined and all the food was very good to excellent.
Disappointing was the limited and poor selection of wines by the glass. Also the coffee was well below average. A cheap and blend which is disappointing when you consider most cheaper cafes and restaurants in Canberra now offer quality or premium blend coffee. Teas was also had at the table and while it was presented very nicely, tea should never ever be served in a coffee cup. Tea should be served with or in a thin china tea cup. It does make a difference!
M. S.
Went for dinner with a party of 5, since my partner has dietary restriction, but the restaurant catered her with great alternatives. The food is amazing and staff are the assets. Would definitely recommend this lovely venue.
g.
Waters edge Canberra to put it simply were a Kangaroo becomes better than a Wagyu steak, The manager Aman and his brilliant staff was amazing.
We had our Wedding reception there 6-10-2019, 4 courses every one of them magnificent, the expertise of the chefs with the high quality prepared meals, and care to detail was amazing, super clean restaurant and kitchen,
We booked the entire restaurant the service amazing helpfulness outstanding from a coca cola to the finest wines and the views was to die for.with the lake only meters away.
The manager Aman was so helpful courteous and respectful from opening doors to looking after the children, and helping us with the right choices.
We have traveled a lot overseas and in Australia and you will be hard pressed to find such a beautiful and well run restaurant of this caliber with more than reasonable prices for one of the better quality 4 course meals we have ever had...Outstanding professional exquisite .
every taste catered for. Canberra's hidden gem.
Thank you to Aman and his fantastic staff 06-10-2019
G simons and H simons fantastic everyone loved it.
V. R.
We had four courses for $80. Each plate was a work of art. The flavours and textures were well balanced. The wine list is also very good. Not many wines less than $50 however. This restaurant and it's sister, Courgette, are in my opinion two of the best in Canberra.
N. R.
I went to waters Edge with my partner last night
and the service was the best , highly professional.
I ordered the pan seared beef which was cooked to perfection
It was a great night.
I will defiantly go again.
J. H.
Highly recommend. Took my partner here for his birthday and it was superb. Being people who go away and fine dine alot i can certainly say this was by far our favourite. From opening the door when they saw us coming to the most intentive service i have ever seen to the most gorgeous presented and tasting food if i could give more than 5 stars i would. The pork belly and lamb backstrap were my favourite but the whole 4 course meal was amazing. Thankyou for making this a wonderful birthday present. Will be back again :)
D. H.
An amazing dining experience. Delicious food, and the staff were wonderful, so attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would return if I am here again.
L. W.
Saturday night dinner at waters edge restaurant was exceptional with perfect sitting at middle of first raw near window. Service was extra ordinary and food was above our expectations compare to its prices.
Will be back in near future (may be mothers day if open)
Highly recommended
L. B.
One of the prime location in Canberra with romantic water views. Perfectly cooked and well presented food. Birthday Celebration ended with small cake presented by chef with candle on it. I am impressed.
J. W.
First visit at Waters Edge was something special on Mothers Day. 3 Course lunch was amazing and awesome Lake view made our lunch completely perfect. All three Course were cooked and presented well. Service was friendly.
Thanks Waters Edge

Great food, service was a bit slow

Have been to Waters Edge multiple times and have enjoyed it each and everytime. Food is amazing, well priced and great service. The view is a bonus. Highly recommend.
B. T.
Nice, Calm and very romantic place for Dinner. Visited with my boss and was surprised to see quite expensive price for 4 course meal but great service and delicious, well presented ontime meal and wine changed mind and insisted me to say WOW. I cant afford that expensive restaurant but must come back for the sake of service, good meal and awesome view of Lake Burley Griffin. Thanks Team, to make my night great.
L. L.
Very good modern Australian menu. We enjoyed a 5-course degustation with matching wines, with a beautiful vista out across the lake and waterfront at night. Staff were unpretentious, effective, and knowledgeable.
S. C.
The food was amazing. With a beautiful view of the lake, this is the perfect place to hold celebrations / special occasions. Staff were very attentive.

Definitely a place to recommend. Amassing experience.

Highly rate this place. The staff know their food and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable night. Some people may say portions are small but I left feeling full and 100% satisfied. I will definitely go back.

Great food and view. Friendly staff. Not s place for large servings but get the courses right and you will not be dissapointed.

I went There Today With My Family For Dinner Wonderdul Place To Visit. Food Was Quality Was Best, Food Was Well Represented. Price Was Bit High But It's Was Completely Worth It For The Food Quality. Staff Members Was Very Friendly. Most Impressive Was variety Of Wine List.
S. L.
This was our second visit to Water's Edge (Friday 14th Dec 2012). The food is outstanding - on par with Garagiste's in Hobart though a different approach. The standout dish for me was the duck (third course). I usually avoid duck because it can be 'fowl' if a poor bird and/or poorly prepared. Not only was the bird lean (I loath duck fat) but it had a decent amount of meat. Beautifully cooked with an accompianment of flavours that did not detract. Seriously, each mouthful was a symphony of flavour which sounds so hyperbolic I know you won't believe me until you try it. All five of us enjoyed our choices - some better than others. I also loved my strawberry dessert - it was fun and fresh after an excellent meal. Also the wine list is intelligent. We had a 1998 Petaluma reisling - old gold! Yes this is an expensive resterant but 4 excellent courses at $75 was good value. And finally I love the mellow decor. Guess what - lots of soft furnishings so you can hear your companions and your ears don't ring with the noise. The bathrooms could do with a makeover would be my only criticism.

My wife and I enjoyed our 60th wedding anniversary lunch at the Water's Edge. Both the food and service were outstanding.
C. W.
Had lunch here yesterday group of four. Everything was perfect. Staff lovely, food both tasted amazing and was presented beautifully. Will definitely visit again, thankyou.
A. D.
Always a lovely spot for dinner. The food is fantastic everytime staff are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is great. The view from the restaurant is one of the best in Canberra.
G. G.
One of pick restaurants in Canberra. Lovely winter outlook over Lake Burley Griffin. Expensive wines, but superb choice. Food beautifully made and presented.
T. M.
Excellent service and food, recommend going during the day for the view of the lake.
I. M.
A classy restaurant with great quality food. Be prepared for smaller servings and the price. Great selection of wines. Not the place for a crass food pic so sorry about that.
B. B.
Delightful menu, outstanding service, tremendous wine list - an altogether beautiful gastronomic experience.
M. D.
Minimum menu options, food was ok but nothing special. There were no views as there was an event blocking them.
p. s.
Had a fantastic night at water edge, nice and friendly atmosphere, great food and a fantastic wine list. White choclate panna cotta was fantastic finish, pork belly was fantastic start.
I. B.

Quality meal and nice wine. Service could have been a bit more coordinated i.e. sides arrive a few minutes after the mains and was left with empty wine glasses for a while
K. S.

Wow, we had a lovely night, the 7 course degustation was well worth it, take the time from the first mouthful and just savor the flavours of each mouthful and dish, a great anniversary!
D. B.
Fantastic location on Burley Griffin, food reasonable price for number of course....some courses however will not be to everyone's taste as very modern combination flavours. Worth a trip however
G. P.
4 course dinner... Simply amazing. Could go back another 3 times and have a different 4 courses. Excellent location. Food & service is impeccable.
G. “. W. D. J.

We cannot say enough about our recent experience for a celebration important to us. Food, service and view/ambience were all superb. We will return for future special events.
P. B.
Arrived unexpected last night in my motorcycle gear (in the midst of a 4,000 km road trip); staff were accomodating, friendly and personable. As for the meal, devine! When asked "What did I think of [my main]?" The only word that came to mind was "Incredible." Will definately visit again next time I'm in town.
Ignore the very obvious 'fake (bad) reviews' that are posted here

Lack of details and food was okay.
I’ll explain.
-Fine dining, 5 forks and 5 knifes but no table cloth?
-Went for dinner at 7:30pm, so outside is dark and inside is bright light, the lights are so bad in this restaurant. There is no atmosphere or different mood lights that create a comfortable cozy place.
-Got the menu, looks good food and we opted for the wine pairing.
-Saw on the menu Salmon, Chicken, Kangaroo and Lamb, perfect! I inform the waiter that I am pescatarian so I can only eat the first course Salmon. I’ve asked for what food will the meat be substitute for… no answer. Normally in other restaurants the waiter will go and ask the chef and come back with options to check that I would be okay with the options.
-Wine pairing… what a disaster.. on every dish that arrived the waiter bring 2 glass with the wine already pour into the glasses, saying this is the XXX (wine name).
Wine was not pour from a bottle, no explanation in the wine that we were drinking and why this was a good option to accompany the dish… have you ever been to a wine pairing where they say this is a Chardonnay. Or this is a Shiraz, no further explanation. I can read myself on the menu that this a Shiraz, the waiter should be knowledgeable to explain the wine. This is what Wine Pairing in a Fine dining should be.
-Food was okay, first dish salmon was okay, second dish as pescatarian I got a burrata with rocket (although I told them I am allergic to rocket), third dish I got a mushroom risotto and that was very good, and last dish I got a fish which was not good at all. Had a bite and left it there.
For my partner food (the menu food), Chicken was good, Kangaroo was too hard, Lamb was good.
-I have to say the portions of each food are really big and you won’t go hungry.
Overall there fine dining experience was completely missed for me. Staff should be trained to a fine dining, there are a lot of other restaurants in Canberra where for the same price (dinner+wine pairing) the overall experience is at another level.
