There is a reason they took out number 1 in the laksa festival, I am a chef by trade and it was easily the best seafood Lassa I've ever had

One star off for the rather expensive food (though the location was probably what caused it). The restaurant was casual and nicely decorated, just a little dark at night. Service was awesome, with very friendly staff. I ordered their garlic prawn and char grilled pork belly, which tasted quite nice and was definitely fresh - glad they didn’t compromise on that :) Overall pretty nice experience.

First thing I did on arrival to Darwin was head down to CHOW! for a laksa. Don't let a 34 degree day deter you, there's a reason CHOW! came out on top of Darwin's laksa festival (and Darwin is full of top shelf laksa!). Anything on this menu is a great choice, we also highly recommend the traditional spring rolls.

Food was delicious but they lose a star for offering still or sparkling tap water, but purposely neglecting to mention it costs pp. I've been to plenty of places where sparkling on tap (not bottled) is free so it never occurred to me to ask. Not nice to feel like I've been tricked after a good meal.

My whole family loves Chow. Fantastic location with a comfy atmosphere. The food is always awesome, great sized servings and reasonably priced. The staff are happy, friendly and we have never yet received bad service. We have been going to Chow now for 6 years and go at a minimum of every 2 or 3 months. Absolutely love this place. Our favourite place to eat out in Darwin.

At first I wasn't too impressed to be handed very sticky menus and a sticky drink menu. After trying to peel the the drink menu apart to select our drinks, i was a bit apprehensive. The staff were lovely though and made us feel welcomed. Then once the food came out, all was forgiven, it was amazing.

CHOW is an amazing South East Asian restaurant. They have friendly staff who check in on you and are make their meals very timely! The best part however is the laksa (WITH A VEGAN OPTION!!!!) Which is honestly the best I have ever had. They have a very extensive menu with both veggie and non-veggie options (an amazing vegan pad thai too!)

The food here is impeccable. The Chef is in his/her element with this cuisine and on point even on a busy night. We had a minor hiccup with our drink service last night - these things happen. However, I believe, the true test of a business is how they handle scenarios as they arise (Hat’s off to the Manager). Thank you CHOW! We will be back!

OK food, but I can't say it was spectacular. It was as if the chef had a general idea of Asian food from a book, but failed to duplicate accurately. For instance, an authentic Pad Thai should have plenty of crushed peanuts, discernible egg content, an underlying sour-sweet taste from fish sauce and sweet chilli sauce or a little sugar, with the addition of suitable fresh herbs, like basil and coriander. The above were almost entirely absent in Chow's rendition. The prawns and chicken in this dish, though, were good. Spicy Beef with Bamboo Shoots was uninspiring. It came with indifferent sliced beef (some tough), with genuine Thai eggplants (undercooked) and fine bamboo shoots as advertised. However, the sauce was bland, with very little chilli; the only spiciness came from fresh green peppercorns, which I actually liked. A few lime leaves and celery l tips added little to this dish. For a Monday night, Chow was remarkably busy and I must say that the service was very good, professional, friendly, fast and efficient. Like many previous reviewers, I do wonder why it's so dark. I may still be tempted to return.

We ate lunch there and loved the phó. The broth was very delicate and complex without being too overpowering. Then we came back for dinner that same night with friends to try the Laksa which was amazing. I had heard about the Laksas in Darwin but only when I had it here that I was truly impressed. Very friendly staff, always have a smile and the food was served lightly night quick. I don't give 5 stars often but this place earned it.

Had not planned to come here were booked into an Italian place but walked out of there due to complete fail to give any service! So lucky we did Chow was awesome! Amazing. I feel like I'm sitting in Singapore. The menu is quite extensive and varied. The food tastes authentic and delicious. The vibe was friendly and chilled. The staff were very friendly. I had the Nasi Goreng, also had spring rolls, tried some of the vegetarian bahn mi and beef pho broth. All of it was honestly amazing. Can't believe this is the NT and not Singapore.

My partner and I had a great experience here last night. The staff (front desk, bar staff and our waiter) were amazing and the food was delicious. We had the oysters to start, the shredded chicken with ginger and shallot sauce, papaya salad and veg fried rice. Great atmosphere too, which was one of the reasons we chose here after walking past all restaurants in The Precinct before deciding.

Done well: - Clearly marked vegan options - Nice atmosphere - Vegan Laksa 4/5 Vegan Bun Salad - not fresh at all, missing key elements like fresh chilis and vinegar in the dressing. - Noodles overcooked clumpy mess (90% of the dish) -Not enough veg and herbs (fresh lime would be a good touch too) - Spring rolls had a good flavour!

Nasi Goreng was very nice, Spicy Beef with bamboo shoots was mild and a little bland, Garlic Prawns was light on as far as garlic is concerned and a couple of prawns needed the shells removed. However overall it was good wholesome food. I would go there again.

Food is good, not great, expensive, and has been made bland compared to what you'd get in SE Asia. Had the chicken banh mi and papaya salad. Service was disinterested, bordering on making us think we had interrupted the backpacker serving staff by daring to eat in the restaurant. Had the salmon and salty caramel hot pot. Was way to salty for me. Basically ended up being over cooked salmon (which there was quiet a lot of, shame it wasn't that nice) in a bowl of soy sauce. We had 3 dishes. 2 were as expected for price and quality of food and I would have given 4 stars for those 2. I reserved 5 stars for exceptional over and above expectation service. If I gave every place 5 I'd have nothing higher left for the most awesome places. Anyway. One of the dishes we had was the Shaken Beef (spelling) which was dices of rump steak. I expected soft tender cubes of steak but unfortunately about half of the cubes were pretty tough to chew. I know it's not a huge killer or big complaint but as I rate places 4 stars is normal and as expected I walk away happy, 5 is exceptional and I've scored 3 here as I can't say I walked away happy as I could have been. Happy Days.

Popped into chow on a Thursday night for a “couple date night”. The food is nice and well presented, did not take long despite they were quite busy. We’ve had a couple of tasty aperol spritz and we were not disappointed, fresh tasty and generous. My pho was good and my partners pork belly was crispy and juicy at the same time. The service was attentive and efficient. Will definitely be back

Quite a good selection of vegan dishes - best pad Thai I’ve ever had! I REALLY wanted to give 5 stars, but a small mishap with one of our meals tonight. Ordered a vegetarian fried rice listed as vegan which was served with pork and seafood in it. Staff were very apologetic however, and provided the correct dish soon after. The boyfriend was also very happy with his chicken Laksa and vegetarian spring rolls. Strongly recommend - but for those cruelty free peeps maybe check for meat first haha. Fried tofu was delicious also!

My lychee icy (I think that’s what it was called??) was really yummy and super refreshing... thought it was a bit gross at the bottom. The traditional spring rolls are the best I’ve ever had.

The pho was nice, maybe a bit sweet but after adding the additional extras it was good. The nasi goreng looked fantastic but under seasoned and a bit too much of dry heat, so the taste of rice was HOT and that was it, couldn't taste anything else. Would like to try some other dishes.

A small and quaint restaurant but serves a large hit with the food. The drinks are ice cold on a hot day and the food coming out of the kitchen is piping hot and delicious. I would be back in a heart beat if it weren't so far away. Great work guys, keep it up.

Wow. I have to say I am impressed. The Bo La Lot was legit. The Canh Chua even had the traditional okra and ngo om. The kang kung flavours were spot on. This is how good a modern Asian restaurant can be. Congratulations on having the balls to have the less common Vietnamese dishes on the menu as they aren't necessarily suited to the western palate nor commercially popular. While I rave about this, bear in mind I'm writing this from a VN perspective, other tastes and expectations might not suit. Having said this, they've executed the traditional flavours exceptionally well with the modern presentation on top. Great job.
