Highly recommended. Food was on point We had two pizzas to share. It didn't disappoint. Mains were Nicolina's special with succulent prawns in a tasty Napoliteana sauce, gnocchi in a pesto sauce, Fettuccine with De Casa sauce and Fettuccine in carbonara sauce. Service was excellent and highly attentive. Our waitress was super friendly and warm. We felt like old friends. A wonderful first meal on our first day in Hobart. Would love to return.

I'm not a huge fan of Italian food usually, but my gnocchi here was great. We went later on a Sunday night, but the place was still buzzing. It is definitely very popular, so recommend booking. The service was friendly and wait times were appropriate. Recommend the gnocchi - it was up there with the best gnocchi I've had.

If doesn’t matter if you’re a Hobart resident or travelling through town, this is a “bucket list” restaurant. Our pizzas and pasta were mouthwatering and had excellent service. I would highly recommend Da Angelo, make sure you book in advance. They are popular for a reason.
C. J.
Amazing. If your like me then you like Italian but your always waiting to stumble across a 'diamond in the rough'...a restaurant that is heads and shoulders above the normal. This is one of those restaurants... I wish I could award a sixth star. I have only come across an Italian restaurant with food this good a few times in the past.
D.
Food is nice, but overall experience was poor for the following reasons:
1. Food took 50 minutes to arrive
2. They served us the wrong pasta from what we ordered.
3. They served us the wrong dessert from what we ordered.
4. Fairly expensive for the portion sizes

Really really busy on Friday noontime,I order the Calabrese pizza,Latte and Tiramisu~Tiramisu is the best one,5 stars strongly recommend, pizza is not cater my taste, coffee is also nice, nice service and nice environment~
J.
All food dishes were great and authentic. Definitely recommend this place!
O. W.
Fabulous food and service! I love the spaghetti and pizza! Tiramisu is awesome!
Cannot wait to come again!

Had my birthday dinner here with my partner and niece. It was a very busy restaurant but still the ambience was nice. It has a traditional feel to it and indeed sitting up the front was a nonna just like I used to see in Venice in Italy in some of their restaurants. The food was super - exceptional quality. The garlic pizza got entree was fabulous. The gnocchi was home made and cooked to perfection. If in Hobart and Italian is your go to - then thus is the place to go.

Had this dinner about a year ago. I was browsing the pics took here, and those remind me of the tastiness of this restaurant.

The food was extraordinarily excellent here!! Russo to is good in flavoured, pasta sauce is rich, and the pizza is great in portion. The price is as well acceptable. Overall it’s a great dining place to visit in Hobart and it’s so far the best Italian restaurant in town!!
Italian cuisine is a Mediterranean cuisine consisting of the ingredients, recipes and cooking techniques developed across the Italian Peninsula since antiquity, and later spread around the world together with waves of Italian diaspora.

What can I say , eleganza nel semplice.
And I’m not Italian

If you don't come to this place, you'll regret it for the rest of your LIFE..!! Honestly there is so much I could write about this place, but at this present time? I'm just trying not to split in half. Seriously.
The food is just superb, and the staff? 10/10.
You pass the open kitchen on entry, so its easy to pass on complements to the chief on the way out. My wife had the puttanesca, and I had the seafood risotto pasta after we shared the salumi platter entree. Madness...... we brought half of that home...... hope you enjoy your experiences as much as we did, book ahead.. is an absolute must!! otherwise you'll just be window menu shopping. Enjoy

Starting with the beautiful location, you enter a cosy establishment and descend further into the dining room. Adorned with wine bottles, classic Italian photography and soft furnishings.
The service was prompt, friendly and efficient.
The food was amazing. Comforting, rich and delicious. We had pizza, gnocchi and ravioli, all made in house. You could visit weekly and never get bored. Too full for dessert this time, but they looked great.
A. C.
Very heavy dishes. Not sure how authentic the recipes are. Good portion sizes, comforting and good value for money. Staff were extremely friendly.
A. J.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. My pasta was very tasty. Servings were very generous.
F. O.
It is definitely a sensational place for tasting Italian food.
It is a lovely place, with amazing food, and great staff. Also, a very nice waitress (young with brown hair), made our night, her name could be Amy (?).
Anyway, thanks everyone, chefs, and kitchen staff. 100% would recommend. 🥰

This is the best Pizza I had in Tasmania Ristorante Da Angelo in Hobart.
There are many good Pizza places in Hobart. But if you want to eat the best Pizza with Italian goodness, you got to visit Ristorante Da Angelo at Battery Point.
We tried their gourmet Vegetarian Pizza with Mushrooms, Onions, Capsicum, Artichoke & Olives.
The crust was cooked to perfection. The thickness of the crust was not thin but not super thick either. Just right in the middle. On top of that was the incredible garlic tomato sauce. It was so flavourful, I still remember the taste. It was so yumm!
And of course when you’re at an authentic Italian restaurant, it’s a sin not to have Tiramisu. Tia Maria and coffee soaked Italian sponge layered with mascarpone and cream. Mama Mia! We loved it!
T. C.
Fantastic gem of a restaurant. Food was great and the service was awesome. Easy walk from the city and highly recommend. Can’t wait to visit Hobart again to eat there!
J.
Best pizza restaurant in Hobart. The boys and girls really know how to make you enjoy your time there and experience amazing Italian cuisine. My personal favourite is chicken brei and the prawn cawazone
M. P.
Delicious as always.
Second time in Da Angelo (first tme was 4 years ago) and it is still very satisfying. The gnocchi all crema was my highlight as well as meeting Angelo himself. It was surprising seeing the face behind the name especially since he was just helping the staff around with getting our plates and everything.
Beautiful family own restaurant where you can get home made everything :) Thank you for having us!
L. B.
The service is great, all the staff are very friendly and incredibly welcoming. The style of food is traditional - it won't set the world on fire but, more importantly in my opinion, it's delicious. I'd rather eat here than the fancy tricked up places that are trying to reinvent the wheel. On different occasions, I've had chicken limone (swapped from veal to chicken), margherita pizza, fraraccio pizza and creme brulee. Unbeatable!
K. L.
Authentic Italian food, even the locals go there. Worth a stop.
J. T.
Great atmosphere and service. The food was genuine Italian cuisine and generous in size. In fact it was so good we went back the next night and got their take-away. Great location in a historic precinct. Very reasonably priced and highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.
m. h.
Staff are nice and the service was good!
The food is good especially for risotto (that’s why I forget to take photo before finishing the dish). Maybe because of Saturday night, the waiting time for my dinner to be served is nearly 45 mins which is a bit too late.
G. E.
Always super special. The food, the service and for regulars - the warm welcome.
J. S.
Great food great service! Love my gnocchi, so beautifully tasty. Tiramisu tastes different from all I've had in other places, must be authentic Italian! So popular you must book in advance or you won't find any seats.
R. F.
Fabulous. Everything about this restaurant is great. We had a great food experience and bottle of the best local wine.
Would love you to be where I live. Not only did we have a great dinner we also had lots of fun.
M. B.
A lovely Italian restaurant with attentive staff with relaxed atmosphere and a great pizza dough recipe. I took notice of a review of the garlic pizza and was glad I did, a welcome start to the meal. The sweet chilli chicken pizza was perfect for me and the carbonara flavour was balanced and not overcome by strong bacon that is a common failing of some, so that made it a good dish flavour wise. The desserts were a stand out of the meal, we honestly didn't expect to enjoy them as much as we did.
T. W.
Thank you so much for a very memorable night! The food and service was exceptional and we could not fault a thing! Hi 5 to the Nonnas and kitchen staff. Thank you Angelo and Tracey...for organizing the balloons! Great team work by the staff. Highly recommend you guys to anyone staying in Hobart and looking for fantastic Italian cuisine. Home made!!
J. D.
Great service and yummy Italian foods. The only downside is you wait really long for the foods. We waited for an hour. So if you get hungry easily or you dislike waiting for food, order it the moment u sit down, or review the menu online before u arrived.
c. s.
Great service but unfortunately the Marinara was not to my liking. Truth is, once you've tried The Italian Bowl, everywhere else is just really hard to compare. Maybe it's just me but their seafood didn't taste that fresh to me. It got that frozen seafood texture which I dislike. :(
M. P.
Everything we ordered was sooo delicious!!! One of the best Italian restaurants I've visited! They are so flexible with ingredients. I'm vegetarian who loves a bit spicy and tangy food and they made it happen for my pasta! Highly recommend!!!
G. P.
What an amazing experience from start to finish, place was packed, but we were able to get squeezed in at the front of restaurant! Service was on point as well as the food. Food so good that photos weren't taken until dessert when I remembered to take one! Highly recommended!! Will be back.
S. S.
This is one of those places you wish was in your neighbourhood. Because you would eat there every week. Owned and run by Aussie Italians - you can literally taste the love in the food. Homemade pasta done oh so right - and the gnocchi was as good as my Stará Mama used to make. I came two out of three nights I was in Hobart and on both nights there was a constant stream of locals eating in or picking up pizza. The owners greeted everyone by name. Prices are very reasonable and the service was fantastic. Warm, friendly and super efficient. Top of my list in Hobart.
S. S.
I went to Da Angelo's last night and due to the super high rating I probably had too high expectations. The food was not bad but very average and definitely far from authentic. Service was good the small seating area quite noisy though, it has atmosphere but still not quite as charming I hoped it would be. Considering the prices they charge there is definetly room for improvement.
O. F.
My partner and I really wanted to try this place as it had amazing reviews and was highly recommended! We could only get a table at 9:30 but it was definitely worth the wait. We both had pizzas which were delicious and chose two nice reds from the extensive wine selection. Despite it being closer to their closing time, the restaurant had a friendly and upbeat atmosphere, staff were very attentive and food came fast. We shared the tiramisu for dessert which was also great. Would definitely recommend!
M. R.
I now understand why this restaurant has such great reviews! Impeccable food and outstanding service to go with it! Very accommodating for picky eaters, well worth the money! Will definitely stop by next time we're in Hobart! 😀
S. L.
A very delicious dinner haven’t had for a long time. Fresh and fantastic taste of seafood pasta. Highly recommend Brulee as desert. Clean and very friendly staff. Will come back again.
B. N.
Went here on the recommendation of a friend and left very happy. We hadn’t booked but despite being very busy they found us a table - the restaurant is a bit tardis-like with ample seating inside and upstairs as well. All the staff from the front door to back of house were great and helpful in answering our questions. The food and wine was outstanding and delivered at the right time. Moderate pricing capped the night. Suggest u book ahead.
Recommended 👌
P.S.They have a sister cafe across the road which serves breakfast and lunch which should be worth a try if dinner is anything to go by.
A. A.
Popped in here whilst on holiday with fingers crossed that they'd be able to find us a table without a booking. The owner was so accommodating and hospitable and squeezed us in. We had a fabulous meal of house made pasta with luscious sauces as well as an amazing garlic pizza bread. Service was friendly and fast. Definately needs to be on everyone's "to go" list . Maybe best to make a booking though, it was very popular.
N. K.
Phenomenal dining experience!
The pizza was to die for and the lemon lime and bitter was exceptional. The owner himself personally made sure we enjoyed the meal. The staff were incredibly friendly and enthusiastic. This restaurant is one you don't want to skip when visiting Tasmania.
Phenomenal!
E. W.
I visited Da Angelo’s recently for some take away pizza to check it out and see what all the awesome reviews were about. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, but I found the pizzas disappointing. If you like really thick, bready dough than this is the place for you! I am more of a thin base, wood fire pizza person, so I did not enjoy the pizzas
P. P.
One of the best restaurants you could ever go to. Just a perfect place. Food and service is immaculate.
D.
We landed in Hobart and within 90 minutes we were at Da Angelo's on a particularly cold, wet and windy October day.The restaurant is unassuming from the exterior with a very small frontage. Upon entering there is a pizzeria area along with some bar stool positions to dine on pizza in the "front of house".
We were there for a little more.
What I found interesting as we waited , was the interaction between staff and guests. There was a real positive friendly dialogue,
The restaurant IMO reflected a 1990's style, but a really warm and homely feel.
The staff were wonderful, took the time to explain the menu and provided some good recommendations, some of which we followed. Really friendly and down to earth.
I went the whole hog, with the gnocchi con scampi followed by the Scaloppine Masala and my wife had the Pollo Picante.
OMG did the chef just create the gnocchi for me? It was actually Nonna who freshly made the gnocchi that morning. I have never had such light and tasty gnocchi before.
The food is excellent, the staff are excellent and it has such a warm family ambience.
Will go back in a heartbeat.
Word of advice, make sure you book, as the locals already know and frequent this restaurant regularly.
Thank you to the team for one those true epicurean experiences.
Cheers

Traditional Italian restaurant with authentic Italian food. Another level of food quality and taste. The owner was humble and personally taking care of people on every table.
L. Y.
Good atmosphere, good pizza, average pasta
B. K.
We had Pizza and pasta and everything was top shelf. Back in Melbourne now, wishing I could get food from here for dinner.
H. C.
With a 4.8 average you would expect a wonderful experience when in reality is just good. Nothing excellent, prices high, food is ok (pizza not). Very loud at dinner time. Will not come again.
S. Y.
One of the best meals I had in Hobart, everyone at my table really enjoyed their meals. Most pasta options were fantastic. The home-made fettuccine was yummy, and "the lot" pizza was generous with fresh ingredients and toppings. If you still have space, don't forget to try the creme brulee or tiramisu!
C. H.
Beautiful fresh pizzas in a lovely family friendly venue. Staff are very welcoming and happy to help.
J. M.
This place is located in old style part of hobart with cute houses and old cottages the food here is amazing i had the gnocchi with bolognese sauce which is made by these lovely nonnas, it was the best gnocchi have ever had!! Its a tiny bit expensive but good reputation breeds good prices i would say its one of my favourite places i have eaten in Tasmania. All the staff are lovely and so nice A+++
S. H.
The food was excellent.
Friendly staff. But best to contact them and book a table as it is a very popular place

My second review dated July 2018:
Our second time in Da Angelo! And still as amazing! I would like to personally give a shout out to the loveliest waitress serving us, Grace, who was so hospitable as she was gracious - found out it was my birthday tonight and surprised me with a chocolate dessert with a sparkler for my bday, after we had finished our mains. THANK YOU GRACE FOR MAKING MY BDAY DINNER AND HOLIDAY THE BEST EVER. I ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Da Angelo even more! You guys truly are brilliant! I will come back for you again. :)
First review dated April 2018:
I don’t know where to begin. It’s the best Italian food my partner and I ever had in Australia. The pasta that we had was so incredibly delicious - ingredients were fresh and the dish felt light. Not what you expect from a pasta dish which usually makes you feel heavy after having it. But Da Angelo’s food makes you just want to have more of it after each spoonful. The entree was just as great as the mains. Outcome from the entire dining experience - foodgasm. Also, it makes me want to become an Italian from that night on so I could say ‘I’m proud to be Italian! This is what we eat!’ Best carb eating experience ever! :)
N. K.
Warm and cosy restaurant with fantastic food. Service was good too. Every food has it's unique flavour. Highly recommended if you want gourmet Italian food.
M. K.
GREAT pizza! Probably the best Pizza in Tasmania (for those who like cheesy pizza). Love the location.
A. P. U.
Great Italian food in Hobart! Went there one night, but the place was fully booked. The staff serving us was very polite, they said they could get us in later that night, but it was too late for our ‘dinner time’. We decided to book a table for the following night.
I shared one medium pizza and tagliatelle bolognese, as well two servings of their dessert with my partner. Pizza was really good, the dough was so soft. The place also felt homey, so it was all in all a great dining experience. We left the restaurant feeling happy in the tummy and heart. Will definitely come back if I’m in Hobart :)
M. B.
Lovely traditional Italian. Friendly service. Only issue was a staff change after which we were forgotten but all worked out in the end. Would recommend
S. (.
Service 10/10, friendly, warm and interested in what you are talking about. Food 10/10 - read the other 5 star reviews. Atmosphere 10/10, busy but cosy, warm and charming. A must.
L. L. G.
Amazing!! Owner on site. Killer food
M. U.
OMG. The best...no The BEST pizza/pasta/Italian restaurant in the south of Tasmania. Friday lunchtime was buzzing. Really busy with lots of friendly and helpful staff. Had scallopini for first time and it was fabulous. The warm chocolate pudding and ice cream were not bad either!!!. As I said the staff were great and where as I rarely give tips for restaurant meals figuring it is part of their duties I had no problem giving extra at this restaurant. Can't wait to return.
S. C.
Omg. The best Italian food in Hobart. Spent 5 weeks in Italy and ate alot of pizza and pasta and Da Angelos is on a level par. Well done guys. !!!!!!!
S. I.
excellent Italian restaurant located at the battery point. Lovely pizza with state of the art pizza dough.
S. B.
Really good quality meal! fresh ingredients, lively presentation. Across our table we had a broad range of meals with all 6 people being really happy with what was presented! Really good waiting service and welcoming front of house! Looking forward to heading back sometime soon.
K. D.
We were recently on holidays and this place is a little gem asked a local who raved about this place. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is friendly and cosy. Fully recommended. 👍
G. F.
Authentic Italian cuisine. Always need to book a table ahead. House made bread, pizza and pasta.
N. C.
Nice family setting with a great wine selection and very tasty pizzas. Only negative was that we booked the upstairs area but were seated downstairs, but had a good experience nonetheless.
A. B.
Fantastic food, freshly cooked. The staff are wonderful and Angelo is charming as always.
J. G.
Delicious seafood risotto and scallopini, luscious tiramisu and attentive, friendly, helpful staff. All the ingredients you need for a perfect evening. Thankyou 😊
A. (.
Another perfect meal. I got the carbonara, my wife got the bolegnese and we shared a creme brule. This is a must go place for fine Italian cuisine in Hobart
T. F.
Ask any Italian restaurant owner in Hobart which has best Italian food, if they are honest they will definitely say da Angelo is best Italian restaurant in Hobart.
c. g.
This place is so famous and definitely need a booking if you need to have food here.
We tried to reserve a table during our three days stay in Battery Point and all days were booked out between 6pm to 9pm.
However we did some takeaway. Can rate pizza 5 stars. Probably the best pizza in town. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful.
R. C.
Lovely authentic Italian restaurant. Fantastic Pizza, great atmosphere and good prices.
Definately a must!
A. L.
Excellent service, fresh pasta, authentic flavors of Italy. A must dining experience when in Hobart.
Y. W.
Excellent food and service. Must try their tiramisu, had it twice during my short 3 days visit.
Side note, caught a double rainbow there too!
E. E.
Amazing meal here - literally couldn't fault anything. As full as I was couldn't help myself from ordering a dessert because everything else was just so good
N.
Perfect place! Just do it! Amazing food, super friendly and helpful staff and even the owner is there helping and saying hi to everybody! Highly recommend it!
J. N.
Da Angelo Ristorante is regarded as one of the very best dining experiences in Hobart and it was time to finally put it to the test. When we arrived, the staff were attentive and very friendly. That's always a good start. The menu is extensive (just the way I like it). We opted for a pasta each and a pizza to share. Everything was absolutely delicious and there were no faults. I highly recommend the gnocchi. This is about as good as it gets.
P. M.
Fantastic food! The best Italian restaurant we had in Australia! My husband ordered the lasagne and I ordered the ravioli di ricotta with the Alla Panna sauce. Both were amazing, the pasta cooked al dente and we could taste the real Italian sauce in both the pasta and lasagne! Make sure you book in advance, we didn't but we accepted to have a late dinner at 9pm,and the restaurant was still full. They also do take away food and it's cheaper than in the restaurant, so if you can't get a table or if you're in a budget, it's also a good option! Super recommend and will be back probably tomorrow to try the calzoni!
G. C.
Superb dining experience. Authentic, top quality and excellent service. Perfect for a special night out.
C. E.
If you are in Hobart, this is a must! The pizza is the best we’ve had in Australia.
P. G.
Great food and service in a beautiful location on Battery point. Kids loved it as well. Pizza was some of the best I have tried. Make sure you book ahead. It's BYO wine if you like but also had a good selection of Italian wine. Service was really good and very friendly.
A. C. (.
The staff are wonderful.
Great service and yummy Italian foods.
R. T.
What a special treat. Authentic Italian food and wonderful service combine to make it a brilliant night. Visiting Hobart, friends recommended this wonderful restaurant. The food was outstanding. Home made ravioli, rich sauces, perfectly cooked home made gnocchi and tiramisu to die for. Staff super friendly and the owner Angelo personally making sure you experience everything his great restaurant has to offer. Do yourself a favour and put this place down as a MUST to visit when in Hobart.
Ps their breakfast/ lunch establishment next door has the best eggs you’ve ever tasted
J. L.
Da Angelo’s pizza restaurant is a wonderful place to go for lunch. As soon as you walk in the door, you are given a warm welcome as though you are part of the family. We can recommend the prosciutto ‘classico’ pizza. Buon appetito!
A. S.
What a fantastic restaurant. The food was so good that I couldn't wait long enough to snap a picture of our meals, they were just that good. The best I could get was a snap of the wines we had and a page of the wine list! The food was impeccable and the service was attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was cosy and very welcoming! You know you're onto a good thing when you need to book long in advance. We'll definitely be back and if you're in the area and love a good Italian feed then do yourself a favour and treat yourself!!
C. W.
The most delicious vegan pizza known to humanity. We ordered take away, as this place was jam packed (always a very good sign), definitely make a reservation if you're wanting to sit in.
P. C.
Discovered this gem by accident.
Owner very friendly, staff very helpful, food absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
E. J.
Even though I gave a 5 star, I personally believe the food was only 3. However , being a restauranteur myself, I know how important the ratings are to owners and I didn’t want to leave any bad effects on it. Also, I understand, my opinion could be completely different from the general public that visit this place (it’s a very busy place, Weekend fully booked so we couldn’t go And Monday with previous booking, still full house, all other restaurants half empty in Salamanca)
We had Salumi and bread platter, it was superb and the bread was really great, tasty and authentic.
Primavera and Calabrese pizzas in my opinion, the crust wasn’t really good, I had many better crust in other Italian restaurants , and generally I don’t like places that use conveyor belt ovens, if not wood fire, at least, deck ovens always cook better quality pizzas and treat the crust much better. Again this is only my opinion and owners can choose whatever equipment that suits their business better.
The house made macaroni , the pasta itself was amazing and you could really feel it is hand made and house made but the general sauce and taste was mediocre for me.
Service was friendly, attentive and professional, we asked for a bigger table, they happily did it when it was possible . An even though the waitress made a mistake with our order, she immediately apologised and tried her best to replace it with the correct order, which was appreciated and it didn’t take much long.
Overall I’m still happy we tried this place out, has such a great vibe to it (owners are very friendly and approachable) but I won’t be rushing back here on our next visit.
Grazie and all the best
A. G.
As always an amazing meal with friendly and attentive staff. Can't praise this venue highly enough
K. T.
Ordered take away and pizzas were nice. The bread is more like sourdough which gives it a nice crispy yet chewy texture. The pizza sauce is zingy. Only critique is that while we got two pizzas that tastes great they look alike. Not sure about it being authentic italian.
D. N.
Amazing Italian food. There's a reason the place was packed. Service was impeccable from our lovely waitresses. Best pasta I've had in a while.
W. A.
Reminiscing on the mouth-watering pizza, gnocchi and chocolate pudding I had last night, I turn to one of Pavlov's dogs. This place is ridiculous...ly good. Scrumptious food, friendly and efficient staff, quick turn-around, refined wine selection, pleasant atmosphere, and I could go on (but won't). Will be hard to top Hobart (but I'm up for the challenge). Can't wait to return.
D. D.
Gnocchi was my favourite, they were the softest pillows I've ever had.
P. M.
Had dinner there on Tuesday night after hearing many suggestions from locals. I have to agree with everyone who told me that Da Angelo’s is the best Italian restaurant possibly in the country. Absolute perfection, lovely wait staff on the night. Next time I’m in Hobart I will make sure I stop in. Well done and keep the quality and service up!!
P. v. e.
Best Pizza in Hobart a real hidden gem the culture that exists pivots of the owners who sink their heart and soul into the business. The walls are covered in pics of the community that has fallen in love with the restaurant. Buy don't take my word for it go check it out yourself! Parking can be a challenge.
A. D.
The seafood was fresh and the home made pasta was amazing. Great atmosphere for a meal with friends and family.

We were in Tassie in late April early May, one of our nights we stayed in Battery point, booked dinner at this amazing authentic Italian restaurant at 9 pm on a Monday night, they were taking bookings til 11 pm which I thought was a good sign. We were greeted by friendly staff who took us to our table, the girl immediately took our drink order, when she returned we were ready to place our meal order, for entree we had the calamari and it was incredible and the garlic bread which you think would be like everywhere else but nah I mean it was ridiculously sumptuous with garlic and sooo buttery, for the main my wife had the pumpkin tortellini with a creamy basil and Parmesan sauce, I tried it and almost fell over with the taste omg, I had the veal parmigiana with a home made bolognese sauce, I commented to my wife it had better be good for $37, I was not disappointed, 2 layers of the most crazily juicy and tender crumbed veal topped with the bolognese sauce, my eyes were rolling, I was speechless, my tastebuds were having a party. To the senior owner, you sir were amazing as well as your staff but you went out of your way to talk to us, not just talk but to have a conversation as well as get us another serve of drinks, incredible, this is what service is all about and the reason why they are open til midnight on a Monday night, we also ordered a calzone to go and had it for brekky the next morning reheated in the oven and it was as amazing as the rest of the meal, we have told everyone and anyone who’ll listen about your fabulous restaurant, the only draw back was you are Carlton supporters lol, go pies. We are coming back to the apple isle in late September and can’t wait to get back to your restaurant, thank you
L. L.
What an absolute find!! Most delicious authentic Italian food, beautiful local wines and amazing helpful, happy staff. Put Da Angelo Restaurant on your must do list for Hobart!
D. S.
An old favourite. Went back the other night with my gal. Nothing has changed. Amazing food and amazing service. 👏
L. K.
A.mazing food and great atmosphere and great service. Pizza was just speechless, dough was not too thin and not too thick, it was just perfect.Pasta was great, flavoursome but not too salty.
Dessert wise, you must try ice cheese cake. You will say O.M.G!
If I visit Tassie again, this place will be the first place I'll come to dine.
M. C.
Amazing service, friendliness, value for money and authenticity - will definitely be back
P. F.
The only problem with this place is we can’t always get in when we want to! The foods always fantastic. Prices are reasonable. Service staff super helpful. We have adapted and book well in advance. It’s our second favorite restaurant in Hobart. :)
See you soon!
P. B.
Nothing better than a cozy Italian restaurant serving high quality food on a cold night.
Loved our visit.
Hard to tell what was best, food or the incredibly and genuine friendly service.
Thoroughly recommend
E. H.
Angelo and his team are just lovely, the Italian food is totally fresh house made and some of the best Italian food anywhere. Highly recommend 😊👍
R. M.
This was a really great Italian restaurant experience in battery point. Very popular so bookings essential!
The food is excellent, very authentic. Be sure to try the home made pasta dishes. Huge servings, be warned!
My only regret was that there was no basil in the Caprese salad. They must have run out.
Very competent service which was a credit to the establishment.
The toilets are brand new, most have been redone this year. Nice!
C. J.
Quite possibly the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. Excellent authentic Italian food. Excellent management and staff. Would recommend to anyone nearby.
R. B.
Found this gem of place in Hobart and which was recommended by a friend. The service was excellent and the food we all had was fantastic. Angelo greeted us when walked in and made us feel welcomed as did his staff. Definitely recommended and booking is a must.
Thanks Angelo

A several months ago I ordered about 8 different pizzas for home celebration. They called differently - but tasted the same despite different toppings. They were very thick, too much dough....
We lived in Italy for one year and I remember running to pizzeria to buy a few squares of wonderful thin pizza... very tasty...

Excellent pasta and pizza! Would recommend making a reservation in advance as they're usually fully booked
R. F.
Another absolutely delicious meal at Da Angelo. From the warm welcome to the delectable dishes, I always book a dinner here when I'm visiting Hobart. The warm chocolate pudding with housemade walnut gelato was an absolute winner.
G. M.
Great Italian restaurant 10min walk from salmanca, has been in same family for over 30 years

Great food
L. C.
Delicious, authentic Italian food. Quite noisy, so it's a bit hard for catching up friends.
A. M.
Very friendly and service excellent. Food fabulous, Affogato really good. View lovely too.
V. K.
One of the best restaurants in Hobart. It's in the historic battery point area and serves some great Italian cusines. We had some great gourmet pizza and a nice pasta.
M. H.
Perfect italian food, great service, never have a complaint from me
B. H.
Best Italian in Tassy. Great service. Delicious good sized meals. My fav restaurant.
A. R.
Delicious authentic Italian food with a homely service atmosphere.
A. A.
Excellent service. Very tasty home made gourmet Italian cuisine. Friendly family environment. Generous servings. A must for a visitor to Hobart. Strongly recommended.
L. J.
Went here to times years ago and rave about it to anyone going to Hobart. Low key vibe and affordable with some of the tastiest pasta ever. Seafood pastas and pizzas are my recommendation.
P. T.
Da Angelo's is a great restaurant to go for a sit in meal and is very family friendly.
These days we tend to use then for pizza takeout as they are, in my opinion, the best and if I am going to eat pizza then it has to be worth the calories! 😀
C. L.
Da Angelos is a favourite of my family. We don’t often get to Hobart but when we do it’s never without a visit to this incredible Italian restaurant! They have a great large menu including pizzas, pastas, and other Italian meals. They do cater to gluten free requirements as well.
E. M.
Great food, definitely worth booking in advance
D. M.
The best pizza by a mile. Wonderful atmosphere, would recommend to anyone. Second to none 😃
M. A.
As we are of Italian heritage, we rarely visit Italian Restaurants, thinking no-one can match the home made cooking. Surprise surprise, Da Angelo's can. A fantastic night, brilliant home made food, wonderful atmosphere, and a fantastic team. Out team member was a lovely lady called Jaydee.........the best we have ever seen or experienced. Beautiful smile and a gorgeous character.Wow...go there folks!
B. M.
A beautiful little restaurant with delicious food. Very friendly staff and fast service. I had the Risotto and it was amazing. Definitely will come back when we visit Tasmania again.
L. M.
Da Angelo's never disappoints. True Italian cooking!! Every time we come to Hobart this is a must do on our list. Best to book before coming if you want a seat.
B. W.
Amazing foods and old school service. Chicken Catchitoro was great. Kids are loved after as well.
M. -. M. -. T.
Superb! Good Honest Italian food at its best.... All made on-site and delicious... You can taste the love... Fast and Friendly service...
A. W.
Lovely Italian restaurant with very accommodating and friendly staff. The veal in the Con Pepe was so tender, it was a delicious meal and the wine list extensive and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend but suggest going by taxi as parking is a bit difficult.
S. S.
Love the pasta and lasagna. Good that we make a reservation or else's it would be a long wait
P. T.
Hobart's BEST pizzas - hands down! Treat yourself to the Frarraccio with anchovies and you won't be disappointed 😍👌
D. M.
Great service and mostly great food. Pasta we ordered came with spaghetti instead of fettuccini (this was quickly rectified). Both seafood dishes we had contained traces of prawn shell. The first dish we advised our waiter which she advised she would let the kitchen know. The second Dish also had traces of prawn shell and this dish arrive 15-20mins after the first. Whilst the waiter was apologetic and advised the kitchen yet again, this occurred twice and was a let down. I reiterate the service was great, however we dined here owing to the positive reviews on the food and these few occurrences tonight let the experience down somewhat.
K. R.
Really amazing food! The warm olives with bread were the perfect starter. We ordered pastas for our main and we were absolutely stuffed. Delicious food, generous servings, warm service, and lovely Italian vibe. Because the place gets booked out easily, call in advance to book.
B. M.
Very nice proper Italian food. Busy though so eating was a bit rushed. Waitresses friendly but their skirts so short it gave a tacky feel to the place which is a shame.
M. M.
Great food, great wine, great service.
The atmosphere was busy, but not too loud. We had a pizza and several of the pastas. All were good sizes and perfectly cooked.
Wish I had more time in Hobart to explore more of their mene. 😀
G. M.
Great service, very popular restaurant in town
J. W.
Look, if you're in the area, this would get better reviews. You go for special occasions, build a relationship with the restaurant and the owner and it becomes something of a tradition. So if that's your thing, then 5 stars and fair enough.
But if you're just visiting... it's not worth it. The food is good but expensive, and there are better places to go for your time and money.
S. M.
Awesome food, awesome service, best pizzas in Hobart. The single reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because they don't split the bill, a must for these days.
H. M.
Had a really nice meal here. Particularly enjoying the ravioli with Alla Panna sauce as well as our antipasti plate. They make their own bread and it is delicious and soft. The desserts all sounded amazing on the menu and we were not disappointed! The woman serving us was super friendly and up for a chat, also very good at her job and Angelo (the owner) made sure we were welcomed and comfortable. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. It would also be a good place for kids and young families as the menu is very flexible and the staff are accommodating.
B. C.
We showed up here on my birthday to celebrate and have an amazing meal. We did not however have reservations, that was a mistake. Luckily we were able to sit at the small table to the right at the door.
We started with a small pizza and each had pasta.
The gnocchi my wife had was incredible! Just melts in your mouth, and had great sauce as well. I had a prawn special which is by far the most amount of seafood I've had in a pasta. The flavours were great as well.
If we had spent more time in Hobart we would have come back. Best gnocchi ever!
P. G.
Amazing Italian restaurant in a great area. Stayed in Hobart for 6 nights, ended up eating here 2 of those nights because the first experience was so great. Home-made pasta delicious. Staff super friendly! Great value for money. So many dishes to choose from. A must for anyone visiting Hobart.
D. G.
OMG!! The food here is incredible. The service is first rate and they could put the prices up by 15% and still be reasonable. Thanks to the crew for an amazing night of food and fun.
B. N.
This is the best pizza in Hobart hands down. Pants down even. It just doesn't get better than this
S. M.
The service here is great. The waitresses are very customer centric and look after every table with attention to detail. The food was yum. I think I'll be visiting again soon.
A. B.
Amazing staff. Libby served us for the night. As soon as we walked in, she has been a delight! The whole experience at Da Angelo has been impeccable thanks to her!
M. M.
Wonderful friendly staff, very good food, quirky welcoming atmosphere. What a gem
M. G.
Absolutely lovely food and atmosphere. The staff were pleasant and very attentive. It was a busy night but they still took time to have a friendly chat and explain everything. Lady who served me was very friendly, smiled and was just a pleasure.
The pasta was everything, good sauce. Pasta cooked just firm enough (a couple of places miss this). The owner was hands on and accommodating.
A couple of dollars more than your usual pasta places but worth the money.
I would definitely recommend this place.
Thank you to the staff and owner for making my evening a pleasant one.
t.
A really nice place to eat. The food was excellent and very tasty. It's a very popular place, so would recommend that you ring to book a table. The staff were very friendly. The atmosphere was really nice. Would definitely recommend and would go back again if in Hobart.
K. P.
Fantastic food as ever! Love this place, it was really buzzing again. Such a great atmosphere, friendly service and a wonderful host! Nine of us this time, all enjoyed fabulous meals.
D. C.
We arrived at this restaurant upon recommendation from a friend. We were thoroughly impressed by the friendly, knowledgeable staff and the food was just astounding. Everything on the menu looked so good, so we enlisted the help of the lovely staff to help us choose our meals. We were not disappointed, and thoroughly enjoyed every course from entree through mains and finally dessert. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dinner option in the Battery Point area.
S. Z.
First day we landed in Hobart we visited De Angelo as it was a recommendation from a colleague. They were fully booked out but the hostess was kind enough to get us a booking the next day.
We reached on time the next day and had an amazing experience. The service was excellent. They even made us a custom sauce with ingredients of our choice for the pasta which I thought was amazing.
We got a prawn risotto, seafood pasta and pizza for the mains. The food was cooked to perfection and flavours were incredible. Fresh seafood, freshly made pasta and an incredible pizza base.
We also got dessert - crepe brûlée and tiramisu which served with ice cream and tasted absolutely epic. I just wanted more.
Overall I his was the best restaurant experience we had in Hobart compared to all the others we went visited.
S. J.
Mouth watering! I preferred the pasta over the pizza but both were great!
Mia our host was outstanding! Rarely do I experience such a great, attentive, well trained but natural service! Even Angelo himself came around to ask if everything was to our liking!
Don’t miss out on booking a table!
S. K.
I went there with a Friday lunch group and it was my 1st time at this restaurant, however it certainly will not be my last. I was so impressed with the food, service and decor. The staff were absolutely delightful and the owner was so friendly and obliging. We left so satisfied and I probably won't eat again until tomorrow.
The food was delicious to say the least!!!
A must go kind of place where you will be made welcome and treated like royalty. Thank you to the management!!!
J. T.
Nice place, extremely friendly staff, cannot say enough praise for them or the owners. Great pasta dishes but I have to drop a star for the Pizzas. They are the huge based dough variety with just everything piled on top. An American style pizza. Good if you're hungry, bad if you enjoy Italian Pizzas.
R. A.
All it takes was a bit of faith...
When my partner told me that the restaurant he wanted to go to was around 20 mins walk from the hotel, I wanted to tear him a new one. But as soon as we were seated and settled in Da Angelo Ristorante, all that walking was not in vain. I’ll start with the fantastic service provided by our charming waitress, whose recommendation of Riesling exceeded expectations. With how bustling the two floor venue got, it was unsurprising that the food took quite a while to arrive. And this was on a Monday.
Once the food arrived, I was four glasses in (three from the hotel and one from here), my partner and I were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion. The pizza was loaded with toppings and every bite gave a hefty blast of flavour. As for my pasta, it was by far the best marinara I’ve ever had. The tomato sauce was exquisite, rich and the seafood kept up with Tasmania’s high expectations.
By the end of the meal, I made art with my food. And all it took was a little bit of faith...
D. E.
If we were to run the country like this restaurant, we would be the best country in the world. Food is fantastic - impossible to fault. Staff service and attitude is impossible to fault. The owner's treatment of customers and attitude is impossible to fault. If you need a reason to go to Hobart, eating here is a good reason. Everything has flavour, taste, presentation and that little something extra.
B. C. B.
Full restaurant on a Sunday night - always a good sign! We happily took two chairs at the bar, and were not disappointed. Brilliantly balanced flavours, fresh ingredients, nona’s homemade gnocchi, Tasmanian wines, and even the free bread on the side was freshly out of the oven and delicious. Wish we had room for dessert... Wish we lived here and could come here regularly! Very, very satisfied.
S. W.
One of the best Italian restaurants I have been to. Everything about Da Angelo's is on point - the warm service, the atmosphere, the food, and the beautiful neighborhood it's located in.
N. C.
Hands down, best Italian food in Hobart.
C.
Got take away food, great service and awesome food
t. h.
Probably the best gnocchi I've had outside Italy. You won't be disappointed...
K. L.
This place is fantastic! They do better Italian than we had in Italy. The garlic pizza bread was perfect with delicious dough, the gnocchi was light and airy in a lovely prawn and tomato sauce, and my husband's fettuccine was fresh and perfectly cooked. We finished the night with an excellent creme brulee. We will definitely be back next time we're in Hobart.
C.
Very popular restaurant, reservation required as seating is limited. Unfortunately it was a bit loud but this did not bother us very much. Everyone at my table enjoyed the food immensely and the owner was very welcoming to all. Marsala cheesecake was phenomenal! Staff ensured we had drinks and were happy throughout the night.
K. B.
Found this restaurant by chance. Having dinner here on last night of our honeymoon was best decision ever. Everything was fantastic.
T. M.
Authentic Italian Restaurant in on of the best streets in Hobart. We got a table for 2 at the window upstairs with great views, the staff was friendly, welcoming,
happy to chat and the food was amazing. Fresh Italian pasta made with lots of love. Thanks a lot
e. m.
The place is nice and warm but the food is so so and not real Italian (just a look at the menu - pizza with chicken and pineapple 😂). People and service were really nice.
The crust was really American too.
So I wouldn't say it was bad , it was ok (not great) but definitely not Italian. Very strange as 2 owners are from Italy and the all menu is about Italian cuisine. I think it has been adapted too much to local taste.
S. W.
If you like Italian food do not miss this restaurant while in Hobart. Make sure you book as it is very popular and it is obvious to see why when you eat your meal. Excellent quality, tasty and fresh. The homemade pasta is delicious, we had ravioli and Nicolina's special which is seafood and spaghetti. A fresh salad and garlic bread to start. The staff were friendly and the owner generous. I wish we had time to go back again to this great restaurant.
H. S.
One of Tassie's most loved Italian restaurants. Book in advance as it's likely to book out. Takeaway available. Great food in the historic location of Battery Point.
M. D.
Absolutely brilliant. Staff were great and very friendly and very helpful as well. The food was amazing and very good servings too. I walked out of there thinking my sides were going to rip after eating so much...!!! The atmosphere is great too... just enough noise to make you feel part of the action, but quiet enough to have a simple conversation. Great wine list as well.... highly recommended.
S. S.
Fresh delicious pasta. I had the marinara and the prawns were huge and luscious. Quite small space and very busy. We also had a gin and it was really nicely served. Great waitress.
K. R.
Absolutely amazing food and service, as always! The staff go above and beyond and make everytime memorable. I'd like to give a huge shout out to Jaydee, she was incredible. So friendly and chatty. She is an incredible waitress! Thank you for making Jayden's birthday dinner amazing! Love Da Angelos and all the staff! Thank you. 💕
S. L.
Great food and the friendliest and helpful staff I’ve ever encountered. We were only in Hobart for two nights and ate here both nights it was so good. Angelo is lovely and obviously loves what he does.
B. F.
Beautiful food & outstanding service from Amy. Thank you!
J. R.
We thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful Italian restaurant tucked away in a quaint neighbourhood just south of the Hobart CBD. Book ahead if you can, as this place fills up quickly. The food here rules, but the super friendly staff and owner/manager was the icing on the cake. There are a lot of great restaurants in Hobart, but Da Angelo is one you don't want to miss.
S. P.
Updated review (2016).
I've still been coming here for a long time now (both dining in and taking away) and every time it has been fantastic pizza and pasta. I've never been let down.
The pizza is fantastic! Generous toppings with a lovely crisp base. The pasta is made in house and is excellent. Servings are generous, and you'll walk away very happy and fully. I do however recommend the creme brulee for dessert if you have space.
Good range of wines with quote a decent range local Tasmania is wines with a reasonable range of Italian imports that won't break your budget.
Service is excellent here. Full credit to the staff for being attentive and engaging.
Being a Hobart Italian institution I highly recommended that you book at least a week in advance, more in the summer months.
Double thumbs up!
C. K.
If u want to eat the beat pizza in the southern hemisphere make your booking now
J. B.
Fantastic food, brilliant service. Went there for my birthday and absolutely loved it. The staff could not be any friendlier, and the waitress that served us in particular was wonderful. Absolutely outstanding restaurant, I will definitely be returning soon.
S. B.
Just had 28th Anniversary Dinner here with my beautiful wife Elaine. Over from Perth after a fantastic week in Tasmania.
Elaine had lovely chicken and brie pizza, my pork medallions in creamy sauce was amazing.
We'll be back!
S. B.
Really good food and amazing place to spend few hours with a good selections of wine.
The owner super nice and welcoming. We booked a table but still needed to wait. The owner make the waiting so pleasant that we didn’t even mind about the waiting. Can not wait to go back already.
P. G.
It's has always been a favourite of mine for many years for my birthday..We were saying we have never had a bad meal. And the pasta is housemade. And their service is always impeccable. We have never tried the take away area but I am sure this is just as excellent. They are very much worthy of a try 😊
T. i. T. W. S. D.
Lovely staff, especially a shout out for Amy who took time out to chat to all the dinners, even this old fella :)
T. C.
Very crowded, early reservation is advised.. Staff Attendance and attention has been satisfactory, and their recommendations are good. The Pizzas are good but the toppings appear a little thin. The Pastas are average. The Masala Cheesecake was not a good choice for dessert. Overall it is a recommended place for italian fare.
J. K. S.
This restaurant breaths authentic Italy. Preparation that goes into the pastas pay off big time. On top of great food and wine the service was impressive. The lady service my partner and I had was working a full section, yet she nailed it. Always keeping an eye on us and communicating when she needed to attend another table. Great stuff guys.
M. W.
This is a sensational restaurant. Delicious food and a must eat at for dinner in Hobart. Owner super friendly guy and great customer service
A. G.
A family-friendly restaurant with excellent wait staff and extensive menu. I recommend the scalopene and gnocchi. Angelo is kind, vibrant and his presence exemplifies the passion he invests in both his business and providing traditional Italian cuisine in Hobart. Belissimo!
L.
More than amazing! My partner and I go here all the time for our special occasions, birthdays, Valentines day, Anniversary, the service is so professional and friendly and it is always so nice to see the owner/ manager come have a chat to us when we are finished. The food is always amazing and delicious, no complaints from us ever. Truly love it here, our special dinner place :)
P. C.
Garlic bread was 10/10. Fresh homemade pasta. Book ahead for dinner as it can be busy
M. T.
Always a great night at Da Angelo's. Delicious food, friendly and helpful staff and a charismatic host who always takes time to make you feel welcome. The pasta seafood sauces were sublime and the pizza crust was just right with ample filling and a great balance of flavours.
R. E.
Spectacular in every way. I have visited Da Angelo Ristorante for many years now and every time I visit, it is as good as always. The service is great, the atmosphere wonderful and the food EXCEPTIONAL. I cannot fault any of it. The prices are so reasonable for what your receive too. It’s truly an incredible establishment deserving of frequency.
L. P.
Fantastic Italian restaurant. Pizzas are excellent service the same. Thanks Haylee. We took our own truffle we found on a truffle hunt and chefs only too happy to incorporate into the meal. Gluten free also catered for. Takeaway Pizza perfect. Need to book its that good.
M. H.
Excellent food, big servings and great service!
M. T.
Hands down the best and most affordable pizza in Hobart. I wish I had eaten here ten different experiences ago. Great service and top notch pizza.
It makes me warm and fuzzy inside to know there’s a place out there to satisfy my weekly pizza craving that will never disappoint 🙌🏻😍
S. F.
Very very friendly people, food is good, pizzas are excellent. Must book as they are usually full. Can be noisy upstairs.
N. L.
Amazing
D. C.
Quite simply Hobart's best. Angelo, what a host.
S. F.
Good food and even better service! Our waitress (I think her name is Jadie) was lovely and had the whole table smiling. If I'm ever in Hobart again, I'll be back.
K. R.
Busy authentic Italian trattoria with friendly, helpful staff. Great freshly made pasta daily with a multitude of delicious sauce options. Tomato passata sauce was soooo flavoursome. Loved my seafood tomato and cream fettucine. Veal with mushrooms and cream was also superb. Pizza dough was thicker than I usually like but, was light and fluffy without being doughy like so many American ones are. Good portion sizes. Definitely worth a visit. Probably best to book ahead. Can see why it's a local institution and family favourite.
B. B.
Great food, very welcoming atmosphere with very friendly and prompt staff. I can see why this venue is so popular.
M. M.
Amazing pizza and good hospitality. Loved it.
N. F.
Great Italian food maybe even the best you can get in Hobart.
Pasta is made in house. Great service! It’s always busy.
R. E.
The meals are delicious and it is very family friendly. The staff are excellent and you can customise your food exactly as you want it. If your looking for an Italian Restaurant I would definitely recommend this place. They also have alot of excellent gluten-free options.
D. M.
Outstanding service Jaydee was the best waiteress
And the food wow!
Amazing
T. R.
This place is a Hobart institution. I have been coming here since I was a little girl and it has always been the same warm, fun, comforting, joyful place. I love the pizza, I love the lasagne, I love Da Angelo's!
C. W.
Staff were very friendly. We ordered pizza, pasta and dessert, all exceeded expectations!
D. H.
NEVER lets you down. I have dined here regularly with a group of friends for several years now, and am happy to sing it's praises. The hospitality is second to none, the service is efficient and friendly, and staff are very knowledgeable when it comes to menu options. While a lot of places have the odd 'off night', I can honestly say that neither I nor any of my dining companions have ever felt less than extremely happy with our Da Angelo experience. I don't know how they do it.
C. R.
Great food, reasonably priced wines , friendly service. What more could one ask.
e. c.
Didn't have time to book for dinner so ordered by phone. When we went to collect it - took longer than we had expected. The boss/owner dealt very professionally with us & it arrived not long after. It was all hot, very very excellent & worth waiting for. I must admit we were all hungry so keen to pick it up. We also received the garlic bread & a bread stick on the house. Would recommend it to everyone - just maybe order earlier they are busy Saturday night. Size was great - couldn't have eaten more & 2 were entrees. Thanks for a great dinner.
F. P.
Scrumptious food, superb service, absolutely friendly staffs. Went to this place for dinner two nights in a row. The pizza is sooooo delicious, the pasta is to die for, the warm chocolate pudding and tiramisu dessert are so yummmmm. Will definitely visit this place again when we go to Hobart again. Totally recommend this place!!!!
L. B.
Absolutely amazing pizza. They had good range of traditional pizzas, as well as a few more contemporary options. The bases were perfect. Wonderful staff, all very friendly and willing to stay open later than their closing time to accommodate customers. Overall, I would highly recommend.
M. M.
We were recommended DaAngelo's by a local and it didn't disappoint! It was so good we took our friends there a few nights later. We left there all raving. The pastas are all made from scratch and are beautiful. The Scallopini Campagnola is exceptional. Thank you for a memorable experience. Thank you for your attention Daisy. A must if you are in Hobart.
D. W.
Fabulous freshly made pasta and pizza. Great desserts. Thankyou Carryl for looking after us. It was a pleasure to have a waiter who is clearly skilled in their role. We all thoroughly enjoyed our night
A. S.
Visited on our recent trip to Hobart. Outstanding food and great hospitality. Recommend booking in advance, we tried unsuccessfuly to get in thinking we may get a table due to being off season, glad we decided to make a booking for the next night.
L. P.
Easily best in Hobart. Great hospitality and excellent food at very reasonable prices. If you're in Hobart, make sure that you pop in for a visit.
You can eat in or take away to the park, a stone throw away,
Nicely tucked away, on a little street, with colonial architecture around, this is definitely a place to go.
T. r. p.
Fantastic food and the friendliest staff you'll find anywhere. Highly recommended!
K. S.
Great food, great people- Loved it!
T. A.
Really great!!
We walked in without reservations. They were full but we able to find a small table in the corner of the bar for us, which was just perfect. We had a local beer and wine and an absolutely fabulous pizza. Our experience couldn't have been better.
Toby and Liz
C. R.
Amazing. Best gnocci I can find in Hobart, and probably beat pasta and pizza too. We don't go super frequently yet the staff always address us by our names and treat us with exceptional service. The food is like no other and De Angelo's will forever be a standout until the end of time.
M. W.
Wonderful food and service highly recommend..
L. T.
Fabulous pasta made on site. Delicious food. Great atmosphere. Busy place which is a good recommendation. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Loved whole experience.
R. B.
Fantastic authentic Italian food. Would be a regular if I lived in Hobart. Veal was cooked to perfection. In a big group of 9 people and service was great, all food came out quickly, together and hot.
C. R.
Pizza was delicious, tasted home made. The menu was very flexible, they basically let you order whatever you want. The service was good and was a cute little venue . Would definitely recommend. Prices were great considering the quality of the food.
D. M.
Great family dinner restaurant. Very Australian take on Italian. The pizza bases were a bit thick and bread like - not your typical NY or authentic style base. Has all the flavours and extra sauce you might like on pizza and pasta in Aus. There are some much more authentic and higher quality places. But for the price it's bang on!
G. M.
Without question Angelo, Marco and the family at Da Angelo are artists with food. They make some of the best Italian food in Australia and I would go so far as to say anywhere else too. We have travelled widely including throughout Italy and have not had a better meal experience anywhere. For my money the best pizzas anywhere. Not only is the food wonderful but the service is warm, friendly and constantly top notch and the prices are very reasonable. A great meal for a family will not break the bank which is rather rare these days. For my family and I a trip to Hobart always includes at least one night at Da Angelo's and has been a tradition for over twenty years. You could in fact say that tradition is the basis of what you will experience at Da Angelo's. It is an experience that you should avail yourself at your first opportunity.
A. S.
This is the best Italian food I've had from all the places I've been to in Australia. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Despite not having a booking they got us a table on what seemed like a busy night.
C. D.
Delicious home made pasta place👌👌 we shared the Incazzata Pasta and Chicken Brie Pizza. Was absolutely perfect for a cold winter night. We were recommended by locals to this place and it did not disappoint. Wait staff were very friendly and chatty as well. 😊
T. R.
We had to book ahead for 6 people on Sunday night. Everything is made in-house, super fresh. Everyone on our table was very impressed with their meals, service and ambience. Could not be faulted. Best Italian I've ever had - seriously!
A. D.
Amazing food cooked with loved and great service from the staffs. The best dining experience in Hobart.
C. M.
The pasta! Oh my goodness! Incredible. The service was just as beautiful. Honest and real Italian goodness.
J. T.
The best Italian restaurant in Hobart! Ange and his team have been doing a magnificent job for years. Meals are authentic and cooked to perfection and the staff are always friendly and professional. A beautiful atmosphere.
T. G.
Loved it. Was on holiday in Tas for a week and ate here 3x. Highly recommend. The pepperoni pizza was loaded with capsicum though. Still damn delicious but not what I thought I was ordering - more of a classical pepperoni pizza lover. Tiramisu was out of this world. Also the best garlic bread/bites I've been served.
R. A.
Hobart has no shortage of great Italian restaurants and I like them all. But for me Da Angelo's remains my favourite. Great food, great coffee (I don't drink wine, so cannot speak for that) coupled with the best and most friendly customer service you will find in Southern Tasmania.
T.
Great environment and excellent food. I recommend the brulee. Book, though, as it's a small place and very popular.
W. n. H.
I came here to order takeaway 2 weeks ago. Even though the restaurant is 10minutes to closing time, the restaurant owner took my order very patiently. The pastas were good. This restaurant really deserves to be rated as number one on TripAdvisor in Hobart!
I. B.
Perfectly fine food, very friendly and generous service. But, food is only fine (frame of reference: big city Italian, Italy Italian, New York Italian). Service was great, portions generous, prices reasonable.
A. M.
Great food. Great service. Nice people.
J. T.
This is my favourite Italian restaurant in Hobart, and I've tried most of them. Super friendly staff, the owner will come out and check that your meal is satisfactory also.
Good prices, the food is delicious!
G. L.
Worth the drive to Hobart. Great food and service.
T. P.
I now know why people have raved about this place for years, great service, awesome food and a very wide and diverse menu.
B.
Always very busy but love the pizza
A. R.
We just wanted a little takeaway after a big day of driving, and this place delivered some excellent Italian Food. I am a big fan of Gnocchi and theirs was absolutely divine. In fact the entire meal was delicious and good value for money! Highly recommend it, either as a dine in or takeaway, as the food was so yummy!
M. K.
Great pizza and pasta restaurant!
l. l.
A remarkable place and the best Italian restaurant , in my opinion, in Tasmania.
A. B.
Extensive menu and superbly tasty Italian food. Neighborhood gem.
e. a.
My pregnant wife, toddler and I were told they were booked out from 6:00 when we arrived at about 5:20. They squeezed us in and had us set up in 1 minute. The food was delicious. Genuine hospitality and friendliness I haven't experienced in quite some time. Wife was very happy.
K. C.
We came here based on a referral from a local friend and we were so glad we did. We ordered a Chicken Brie pizza and it was amazing.
The Gnocchi Spinaci was soft and flavourful and the Ravioli di Came was some of the most flavourful ravioli I've ever had.
Will definitely be back.
B. C.
Wow. Terrific food and service. Angelo made us feel like friends AND highly valued. Cool neighborhood. Locals galore (we are tourists). So glad the Grand Chancellor Hotel lead us to Da Angelo's.
H. a. H.
We were told in Cairns Qld that when in Hobart we have to eat here. When we arrived they were fully booked. We tried the old "dont you know who we are" trick.(just joking around ofcourse)😉 It must have worked as Marco "suddenly" had a cancellation and we had an awesome meal. Thankyou Marco and your lovely staff. 😎
R. M.
We traveled from Melbourne. I score them 9/10.
Brilliant service. Good management. Even though the restaurant was packed they said yes to us. Very good timing and good quality.
P. W.
Everything about this place is good but I didn't think anything was exceptional and justified the hype. The food was good but the only starter is bruschetta - no olives, meats etc. Was not impressed at all by the Riesling. Service was very friendly and the owner tries to say hello to all customers. If you go expecting a good restaurant, you'll be happy. If you go expecting something remarkable, you'll be disappointed.
B. K.
SPECTACULAR... That about covers it!
I heard great things on a tour bus about this place so decided to get some takeaway before we left Hobart and try it. (I even caught an Uber to pick it up.) The smell of the Pizza was intoxicating and after the first bite - I regretted that I would be leaving and couldn't go back for more.
I look forward to coming back and trying the hand made pasta... amazing. Go there!
E. C.
Great traditional Italian food! Da Angelo were totally booked out until 9PM so we ended up getting takeaway which took roughly 45 minutes in total.
Waited at the pub next door, having a drink while our dinner was being cooked. Got a call from a staff member saying that our order was ready.
R. K.
The food there is a bit expensive but with high quality and the staffs are nice and warming.
B. B.
We were there Monday night. Very busy which shows how popular they are. All 3 courses memorable for both of us. Cannot ask for better than that. Friendly staff, beautiful food at reasonable prices. Perfect.
L. B.
Probably Hobart's favourite Pizza restaurant - but I generally get their takeaway pizza and pasta. Their spaghetti carbonara is incredible. I love their Calabrase pizza. Worth an explore.
·.
Had takeaways and the seafood risotto was very good. Pizzas and gnocchi may be less so, possibly because I am not used to their textures, though the sauces still tasted quite mouthwatering.
W. T.
Service was exceptional. Food was very good too. Love it so much, we went on 2 consecutive days during our short stay in Hobart.
E. D.
Excellent. From the moment we stepped in the door....we were greeted with a friendly welcome and the aroma of authentic Italian food filled the air. Great food and wine delivered by warm and friendly staff.
B. H.
Absolutely beautiful food but you need to book in advance
C. C.
Staff were very attentive and fitted us in without a booking. Servings were generous and the food was delicious.
H. F.
Never had a bad meal here!!! The staff are incredibly nice and friendly and the facilities here are clean and the restaurant is overall neat and tidy!
C. T.
They were quick, they fit us in without a reservation, however they didn't explain the menu and we later found out you could get any sauce with any of the pasta. Solid 4 star food but service on the night makes it a 3 for us.
L. M.
Amazing food and service, quite the find.
R. B.
We finished our first day in Tassie with an amazing food at DeAngelo. Besides the delicious homemade pasta I can mention the polite staff, cozy place, and great vibe, which can create a lovely experience for you. 100% recommended.
S. D.
Make sure to call ahead or book a table before going to Da Angelo. It was complete packed out when we rocked up without a booking on a Friday night, during a quiet period in Hobart. Pizza was great but the pasta was a little over cooked when it arrived. However, an overall good Italian meal compared to other Italian food in Hobart.
m. g.
Great food and hospitality .... but the most awesome aspect of my visit was the manager lending me some REAL wine glasses while I was staying in Hobart. Of course the food and wine was great, service was typically warm and Tasmanian.
E. V.
Tasty food. Very good service. Our friendly waitress happened to make our night when she wrote down the best local things to do, as we were a little unsure what to do. We might have just got lucky with that one. Would visit again for sure.
T. S.
Amazing! The best spaghetti dishes I have ever had in Hobart. The veal is remarkable, too. Definitely will be back.
A. E.
So friendly and helpfull, beautiful food
m. b.
I felt as if I were in Italy. The food was superb. The wine was excellent. And the service..... it was second to any 5 star restaurant. Keep up the good work!!!
R. B.
Da Angelo's Ristorante is a great place to fulfill your Italian food desires, great service and amazing food that you cant put into words of how good it really is. If you are ever in the Battery Point area in Tasmania i would highly recommend this place
F. L.
Got invited here and thought oh no, then I ate here and wow what a wonderful experience! Home cooked proper Italian goodness
J. B.
Food was brilliant and the waitress Jade totally made the night. We were recommended this place by Shane the CSM on our Virginia flight to Hobart, thank you Shane. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Hobart 😊
R. B.
Staff were the friendliest. Our toddler was making a mess and it was no bother to them. Delightful atmosphere and the food is 10/10
V. P.
The majority of Italian dishes in this place are exceptionally flavoursome and true to what the owner prides him/herself on. The pizza however falls extremely short/not even close to an authentic Italian base or topping. Come on paesano!! "A pizze e Napoli" should sing on the way out of the over and on the plate in front of you.
C. C. (.
Fantastic food, pleasant and very helpful staff. Can't go past d'angelos. Make sure you book first as its very popular. Had the fettuccini carbonara, home made pasta is like nothing else!
M. N.
Still my favourite Pizza Place in Hobart after 20 years.
I don't know how many times I've visited now but Da Angeleo's is the place to go (if you can get a table) if you want a great TASTY pizza.
The also make an awesome Lemon Gelato that takes you back to your childhood after the first mouthful.
Recommend booking in advance and saving room for that Lemon Gelato.
J. H.
Brilliant service, amazing food. A must do in Hobart.
V.
Excellent service! Authentic Italian cuisines! Best place in Hobart to go for dinner. My favourite are bruschetta pizza and expresso Martini. Highly recommend.
J. B.
Best restaurant in Hobart. Always busy, so it pays to book ahead. Amazing food, it's as if you're dining in Italia.
H. M.
The food was delicious, the service was so good, you felt like you were one of the family. The atmosphere was very friendly with customers interacting with each other, would thoroughly recommend DeAngelo Restorante
C. H.
Always a great place to dine. Friendly staff and plenty to choose from on the menu. Had Veal con Pepe. A favourite of mine. Pizza ... Always a good choice.
W. A.
a real italitan restaurant. serving fast and yummy
C. R.
From the moment we walked in, nothing but extremely helpful. With no booking, we were lucky enough to get a table. Food and service was first class. Great pizza and excellent scallopini. Highly recommend.
D. J.
Best pizza and pasta in Hobart. Love this place. Need to book as it's very popular.
M. B.
Fantastic service and excellent food. Beautiful location as well.
I just didn't like the chairs...
You should try their pasta.
A. T.
Amazing food and service.
A. G.
A Hobart institution. Warm front of house, paying particular attention to the children, backed by fantastic food and great wine list. Not to be missed if either visiting or permanently habituating in Hobart.
S. H.
Great friendly service. Chicken risotto and garlic pizza quite tasty. Beautiful spot in the heart of Battery Point. Lovely dinner and a stroll around Battery Point great evening.
s. d.
Amazing!! Highly recommend, food and service were outstanding. Please do yourself a favour and visit Angelo & Marco
E. D.
Da Angelo Ristorante can only be described as MAGNIFICO !!!. This Ristorante is the best place in Hobart for FOOD. Everywhere else doesn't even come close. It would have to win "'THE WOW FACTOR"". The ATMOSPHERE, THE ATTITUDE, THE FRIENDLY STAFF, THE CLEANLINESS OF THE RISTORANTE, THE PRIDE OF THE OWNER, THE GREAT SELECTION OF FOOD AND WINE. When you leave at the end of the night you know you have been to ''LITTLE ITALY"and all you want to do is make "'LOVE''. What a magnificent place.
C. J.
Thus is a special occasion venue for us, civilization on a plate. Great food, good atmosphere, sometimes hard to get into. Angelo is have on and a good operator. We love it and go back again and again....
K. D.
Great food as always. We had a birthday and Angelo and staff went out of their way to make the person feel special.
C. P.
Consistently high quality Italian food. Friendly and generous owners and we'll trained wait staff that ensure you have an enjoyable meal.
J. S.
Tonight was our first dining experience and boy it was one to both remember and repeat. All the staff were attentive, welcoming (even recognising clothing labels lol). The pasta was to die for and Creme Brulee sublime. Lemoncelo topped of the night. Thankyou for a great meal and experience. When next in Hobart we will be back.
T. C.
Excellent food and service as always. Never had a bad meal. Best Italian restaurant in Hobart
G. G.
Takeaway Pizza. Busy but on time as promised over phone. Tasty. Good value.
K. L.
Visiting Hobart for the weekend with the family in Winter, needed some good pizza and pasta to warm our bellies. Ordered the Seafood Pizza, Chicken Risotto and Speghetti Bolognese. Pizza was cooked to perfection with lots of yummy fresh toppings with a good amount of cheese. The base was the best part of the pizza, not dry or doughy but crunchy yet fluffy. The pasta and rissotto were also good.
A. P.
Fantastic pasta and pizza, staff were very friendly, food came out quickly and great menu!!!
A. S.
We were greeted by Angelo and immediately felt like we had been there many times.Bona Sera were the welcoming words. Italian music played and at a volume that you didn't have to yell over. The waiting staff were wsrm and friendly and attentive. The food came out on warm plates as it should and it was plentiful and tasty. We had a fabulous night. Can't wait to go back there. Garcia tooto bene.
r. J.
Very classic italian resto. Comfy amd yummy
P. L.
Book in well ahead of time, as they are popular, and with good reason. Some of the best Italian food you will ever have. I recommend mixing up the pasta options, such as replacing penne with gnocchi or ravioli.
k. f.
Traditional Italian cuisine, one of the best places in Hobart. Traditional recipes are used for their pasta and pizza. Pizza had a good crust and robust sauce. Pasta sauces are delicious. Desserts are consistently good.
N. G.
Fantastic restaurant, fast service , the most friendly staff I have ever some across.
The food is amazing.
Tips and recommendations on what to do the following day.
J. M.
Pizza is ok, authentic I suppose but not overwhelmingly delicious. The fellow who I can only imagine is the business owner is a bit of a tool but aside from that the place has a really interesting decor. It's an ok restaurant.
B. R.
Amazing Pizza and the Best Pasta ever. Busy little restaurant in lovely Battery Point a short walk from Salamanca. Best to book early.
B. P.
Absolutely fantastic meal. One of the best pastas I’ve had and the prawns where in abundance in the dish. 5 Stars👍

M. T.
Very delicious Italian food, tried their special today - Scaloppine Pomodoro, served with Napoletana sauce and side of vege. We so like chilli as well and they gave us fresh chillies with olive oil on the side. “Bellissimo!”

Service was great and our pizzas were very nice at a good price. Strongly recommend you try this restaurant.

Will give the restaurant a try next time as it looked busy and full of regulars and service should be better

A hidden gem of Tasmania - Italian cuisine doesn’t get much better than this, pasta crafted just like my Nonna used to.
