Wow!! Definitely one to eat at if in Hobart. The food and wine pairing degustation is worth doing. Be sure to book in advance. Non-pretentious restaurant with fantastic food and service. The wine pairings were excellent and push your boundaries a bit but without being over the top. Really well done!! Highly recommend!!

Fico is simply a must if you’re visiting Hobart.
The venue is a mix of art deco, industrial and quirky. Absolutely loved the vibe.
Service was attentive without being too warm. It was a perfect mix of being there just enough without being over bearing.
Fig tonic - delicious. Great way to kick off your evening.
Wonderful wine list with lots of interesting choices and knowledgeable somms / wait staff.
The food - all incredible.
It was wonderful to see a different rendition of oysters after having seen so many natural / mignonette oysters on other tas eateries. Perfect crumb, I could have eaten 10 more of them!
Sourdough wow. The crust on the bread phenomenal. Loved the fig and balsamic oil it was served with. So creative.
Every dish was bang on in flavour.
The only note I will have is that the pastas were a bite more than al dente and could have done with 30 more seconds on the boil.
Other note is that the first 3 courses were served extremely quickly (almost aggressively, which I didn’t mind at all) but the wait between the tortellini and wagyu ragu was extremely lengthy.
The entire duration of the meal I thought was good, but the pace could have been more consistent between courses.
Overall - amazing flavours, great venue.
I will definitely recommend Fico if you’re interested in a great & interesting set menu experience.

Delicious food of a wide variety, all beautifully prepared. My favourites were the scallops, the bee pollen butter and the quail egg. $120 for the degustation menu with the options of extra courses also. Serving sizes were perfect, I left feeling pleasantly full. My only complaint would be that the parmigiano risotto was in the chewy style, but this is just a personal preference and the taste was still great. Would go again.

I have held the view that the feeling of satisfaction that one gets on leaving the restaurant is a great indication of the quality of the food. At Fico's, I realised that the restaurant's ability to make one forget the flow of time, might be another yardstick. Indeed, at Fico's, service flowed like the good wines accompanying their oh so exquisitely executed degustation menu. The flavours and textures dances and excites the pallet, going from subtle to vibrant across the journey. My wife and daughter absolutely loved the experience! Many thanks for your kind hospitality, Fico.

Fine dining worth the dining experience wait of 2 weeks in advance made booking. 10 courses 10 wines and amazing cheeses also Fico is the leading Dining restaurant I have visited this year I am calling it!

Hands-down the best restaurant experience we have ever had. The most gorgeous food and brilliant customer service! To top it off, incredible wine. We loved being able to see the head chef and his team doing their thing in the open style kitchen. Top quality place. Highly recommend. Thank you guys!

Dinner here really is a delicious and memorable affair. Yes it is in the high side but all the courses were exceptional with unique and interesting flavours. Whilst slightly on the small side we still left feeling full and satisfied. Whilst not somewhere you would frequent often it is definitely worth a visit for a special occasion.

It’s rare in Australia to find restaurants that have such rich texture in all their tactile and sensory elements, beautiful decor and uncomplicated service. Food was delicious - perhaps my only suggestion would be nine courses can get away from the pace but it’s worth the wait. Thank you Fico team for a beautifully memorable experience.

OMG!! Inventive, delicious, thoughtful, passionate food. And great, knowledgeable, engaged staff. The menu is amazing, but make sure you ask for the wine pairings as well. Blow your mind brilliant, especially if you ask Ben or whoever is running the show that night to explain what they were thinking (goes for food as well as wine pairings). Relaxed fine dining at its best.

Just great! Deserves the reputation. Great service and great food. Also has an interesting wine list that'll have something for everyone. Not a cheap night out but well worth it for a special occasion. We'll be back again at some stage. Highly recommend!

Quite a pricey place to dine, but the outlay is rewarded with wonderful, interesting food and quality service. All the courses were delicious and they catered well for my gluten free request. They also have an great range of Italian wines. I hope to go back for the Sunday wine bar some time! If you are really hungry, the tasting course menu may leave you a bit unsatisfied as the sizes are very small. Dined September 5th.

Enjoyed the “Let Us Cook For You” $120 menu in September (as there were restricted dining options due to Covid). Exquisite food - probably the best degustation I’ve had so far, and easily the best risotto (feat. Tasmanian black truffle) I’ve ever eaten.
Absolutely 5 star courses.
Unfortunately, it was not a particularly comfortable dining arrangement, as I ate on my own and was seated at a long bench/table that also served as the hub for waitstaff to prepare drinks, and the overall atmosphere lacked a certain warmth/pleasantness. In addition, the wait between dishes was often too long.
However, would definitely recommend based on the quality of the dishes served.

This was definitely one of my favourite restaurants that I visited while in Hobart. We started with the sourdough, then had the zucchini flower with grated macadamia sprinkled all over, the truffle Parmesan Panama cotta was really well balanced and not too overpowering, the risotto and pasta dishes were also well portioned and just the right size because of their richness. I would love to come back here again when the menu has changed completely. Would recommend!

Just ok - certainly not the best degustation we've had. Yes some of the courses were beautiful - the oil, the gazpacho, the quail egg. The venison dish while it tasted fine was not appealing in presentation. Wine was very highly priced. The big let down was the service - we were there for four hours with a big wait between the two main courses and an even bigger one between the main and dessert. By the time the desserts arrived we just wanted to go home. The music was loud and our waitress was so soft spoken we couldn't hear much of what she was saying, and gave up asking. The evening cost more than $1000 and really was a disappointment, maybe our expectations had been raised too high. The seating arrangement was also uncomfortable, organised for the convenience of the wait staff rather than guests. They did accommodate our coeliac dinner well, and this was appreciated.

Delicious dining experience! What a vibe this place has. Beautiful food, great beverages, friendly staff, a stand out restaurant! Book early to avoid disappointment. Ahhhhmazing

Beautiful food and fantastic dining experience overall. Very patient and friendly wait staff. We enjoyed all the dishes from the chefs menu. Beautiful interior and setting. Happy to go back and recommend.

The food was absolutely delectable, Ben’a service and knowledge of the wine and food added so much to experience, he is phenomenal at his job, the entire team was amazing, the restaurant itself is beautiful, the wine selection, truly amazing. By far the best food, wine and service experience I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.

Visited here in late December for a Sunday long lunch and had an amazing experience. Food was incredible, we opted for the 8-course with matching wines and were well and truly satisfied. Service was great, pacing of courses was perfect and ambiance was on point. Matched wines chosen immaculately by the Sommelier, with a great range of drops to suit the different dishes. A highlight during our trip to Tassie.

Memorable meal and excellent service and beautiful paired wines at Fico celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary, thank you. As we cook for homestead dinners for guests in our award winning Hosted Accommodation, it was a special treat for us, having the perfect meal. Our favourite was the Squid ink spaghetti and Italian XO..exquisite.
R. C.
Good food and even greater service.
Big thanks to our waitress Teresa for being super attentive, personable and making our night!
Fish was delicious, but my photos aren't great.

Classy restaurant with good atmosphere. Deserves it's two chef's hat and also good customer service. We had a tasting menu and it was about $80 per head and that's great value for a two chef's hat restaurant. I would recommend this to anyone in Hobart. Yours truly @fooderarri

The staff in Fico were warm and attentive - always there to respond to any needs ; my glass was always filled and requests heard. The food was amazing to boot - pasta was cooked al dente and the dessert was just the right amount of sweetness
A.
Pure artistry. Complex flavours, clear skill, exquisite presentation and great ambience. Absolutely worth the experience. The menu seems like it changes based on what’s in season/ plentiful, so prepare to be very pleasantly surprised.

5* food, 3* setting, 3.5* service
We booked Fico 2 months ago and when we arrived, all tables were full but the round table at the centre. We were seated at the round table and thought we would have the whole table ourselves and shortly it was filled by another 2 pairs of customers. We then realised there were also other tables being shared, but its a bit awkward especially it is a round table and being so close to each other. I could only really look at two directions, which is my plate and my partner, looking at other directions will look like im staring at other guests and it didnt feel so comfortable and I secretly wanted the dinner to end faster.
Sharing tables are very common in asian culture and cafes, but given it is a high-end restaurant with tasting menus, plus its a round table instead of a large long table, its really a bit weird to us. Service is average, the restaurant is busy and staff just rushed through what the dish was when each course was served. No one ever asked if everything is okay nor did we enjoy the dinner.
Otherwise food is absolutely delicious, 6 course tasting menu is $85/head. But if you want a private dinner, ask for your own table upon reservation.

Had the most beautiful plate of pasta here! Highly recommend the seafood pasta as well as the half pigeon. Their anchovy brioche was so good that we decided to order a second serving. Staff were also really friendly!

Great restaurant in the heart of Hobart. Super food with great atmosphere. This was one of our food tour highlights of the recent trip to Hobart.
S. C.
Food was absolutely world class. One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. If you're in Hobart. It's an absolute MUST.
K. F.
Dining at Fico was the best part of our trip to Hobart. Everything we ate was cooked beautifully and was creative. Highly recommend.

A really enjoyable dinner spot to experience on a trip to Hobart. We booked in advance and enjoyed the chef's tasting menu.

Absolutely fabulous restaurant in Hobart. My husband and I recently tried the following dishes and everything was beautifully presented with delicious flavours: smoked eel cannolo, leed/comte/sable, mushroom royal w/ sage & poricini, fresh sqid ink spaghetti w/ braised octopus, and the saffron maccheroncini w/ venision ragu. Great wine list with some fantastic local wine options.
P. K.
This was my favourite dining experience in Hobart! Such an incredible menu, enjoyed in comfortable surroundings with friendly and attentive staff. Would recommend as essential for any foodies when visiting Hobart.
L. H.
Top job guys! 7 Sensational serves of deliciousness! A shame I was asked at the start if there was anything I didn't like, forgetting I'm not a fan of aniseed come dessert yet that was my fault and was already full anyway.
J. T.
There is some next level dining going on here. All the staff were so switched on to what they were serving. Federico and Oskar have created something special here and I can’t wait to come check out their next menu!
S. M.
An exceptional food experience with a somewhat frantic start. Two of us dined here during Dark Mofo. The pace at which things got underway suggested our table was required for a not too far away next sitting. Only receiving clues from the staff as to what we might be eating, deciding on wine took us a little while. A hastily selected half bottle of Pol Roger was a fortuitous choice. In short time delicious seafood snacks appeared; brioche with anchovy, grilled octopus & king fish(?). Oysters were also on offer as an additional starter. Thankfully from here on in the evening slowed considerably and it became one of the best dining experiences we have had in Tasmania. A bottle of Beaujolais was ordered which matched happily the house made pasta, mushroom mousse and beef dishes that followed. Dessert was a clever combination of yoghurt meringue, mandarin and liquorice!

Nothing short of amazing!!! Definitely on the $$$ end but we were more than willing to pay for everything we tasted. The kingfish, crab tart, scallop Royale, mandarin + yuzu dessert and the sourdough were the clear highlights.

Quite simply, the best food I've ever eaten. I love fine dining and have eaten at some of the world's best restaurants in Sydney (where I live) and London (where I am from), but the dinner we had at Fico was unbelievably good. In the multi course dinner there wasn't a single dud, and 3 of the plates were up there as some of my best ever dishes, with all the others also exceptional. Do not miss this place if you're in Tassie.

Fabulous restaurant. Great wine list (2015 Apsley Gorge Pinot), relaxed vibe and incredible food. We had the eggplant parmigiana snacks, the warm bread with Ortiz anchovy, mussels al’acqua pazza and the cacio e pepe with Tasmanian black truffle.. Absolutely delighted we visited Fico.
R. V.
Superb Sunday lunch - let them cook dishes of their choices and watch the magic appear before your very eyes. Exceptional food quality and presentation, best wine selection, service and relaxed seating environment.

Had a lovely and delicious dinner at Fico. We were served by Teresa who was very warm and attentive. She gave great menu suggestions and was very happy to accommodate our dining requests. Would highly recommend this restaurant for the good food and even better service.
R. S.
Our top pick in Hobart, excellent combination of amazing food, friendly service and a vibrant, inviting place. We opted for the Chef's menu which is a steal at $65 for the quality of the food. Warm home made bread, kingfish that melts in your mouth and the bug tail has a delicious smoky taste to it. Followed by the best pasta dish outside of Italy! Great place to spend the evening when visiting Hobart.
J. V.
Pro: atmosphere, service, food, choice
Con: sooner or later, they have to shut the door
Absolutely worth going and enjoying

I enquired with Fico with regard to set meal experience as a Christmas gift for my parents as they had an upcoming trip to Tasmania. I cannot fault the experience at all! Although they do not provide gift certificates, the correspondence from the venue was outstanding and they were beyond helpful in every regard. Federica was wonderful in her assistance and allowing me to pay for their evening remotely!
And the reports back regarding the evening were sensational! This was more than just a meal, every delicious dish and fabulous wine was served with impeccable service! They didn’t feel rushed, they loved the venue and noted the evening was the “best experience on the gorgeous island!”
I will absolutely recommend Fico to anyone travelling to Hobart! A superb experience all round.
I cannot thank Federica and the team at Fico enough!

Best restaurant in Hobart. Frequently changing, interesting and seasonal menu. Warm and friendly service.
R. F. P.
Amazing amazing food. Definately a highlight of the trip. Pasta was to die for. Impressive. Minimalistic decor.
m. l.
Lovely vibe, friendly and attentive service, exquisite food.
P. L.
We really enjoyed the decor and food (ordered a la carte). The zucchini flower and the pastas were amazing!
Possibly the only downside is that the dessert menu is a bit lacking - cheese or gelato! You could tell the chefs weren't the biggest fan of sweet things.
G. W.
Amazing, great food, great service. So fat one of the best meals I have had in Tasmania. Great looking restaurant too.
P. A.
Great care and passion with food and service. The taste has importance over presentation. The style is Vue de Monde but the price is not. The balance of great food and professional service has been achieved here. I wanted to leave a large gratuity because my faith was restored after I have been disappointed by so many experiences falling short. Please continue your pleasure trip for the appreciation of the public foodies
E. K.
Throughly enjoyable dinner. Attentive service and precision cooked food. Only minor critique is that our tasting menu took longer than expected (we had to wait 20-25 minutes between some courses), however service staff apologised in advance for the delay. Overall I would gladly return one day.
A. C.
Nice restaurant and original food. We ate the Let Us Cook For You menu. It would have helped to have it written, to know and later on remember the menu. Similarly, the wine list is extensive, and I would have appreciated a recommendation based on the menu. We were a bit unlucky as the great Gordon Ramsay attended the restaurant the same night and the staff were understandably nervous. Despite that, the night was pleasant and the staff very nice.

Perfect Dining Experience! My husband and I enjoyed this wonderful restaurant after receiving good news and being recommended by our son. We were not disappointed! From entree to our finishing cheese platter, all 4 courses were consumed eagerly and with much satisfaction . The staff were attentive without being intrusive and the ambience was relaxing,it will be a place we will return again and again. Highly recommend .Thank you Dan and your staff for a truly memorable night.

Lovely and consistently excellent food. Fine dinning in a relaxed settings with warm service. Great value for top of the range food.
S. F.
We opted for the risotto with optional extra slivers of truffle...and this was the only dish I was not so impressed with...as the rice was a tad hard in the middle and i expected the rissotto to have it's typical form...however, it was runny on the plate...I loved the monochrome presentation though! I left slightly enebriated!

Our first dining experience at Fico was excellent.
The atmosphere was homely and friendly and the staff were knowledgable and passionate about their food and wine.
It is wonderful to see so many great restaurants in Hobart. Great job Fico! We will be back.
J. D.
Fico had consistently high standards and delightful food. They're very accommodating of vegetarian diets. The service is warm and personable. I really enjoy the wines too. A great spot for lunch or dinner.
S. J.
Lovely meal, lovely staff. Great experience. Very relaxed atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
B. C.
Friday night was a disappointing dinner experience. You see, fine dining is all about the “experience” and not just the food. The food was spectacular however thank god for that! The service was completely unfriendly!!Just had the best long lunch with incredible degustation dishes and the most informative waiter. Thank Fico!!
K. S.
Majority of the food was amazing. The risotto not so even though it's meant to be a family recipe. The service was average - we had to continue to top up our own wine and water. Also $8 for sparkling water probably a bit rich.
P. P.
Amazing staff, amazing food ! We love places where waiters like to chit chat a little, and Fico offered the perfect amount, also suggestions we were given were on point. The food was interesting and tasty. The restaurant has an unusual table layout (some big, some small, some round), and showcases interesting pieces of art.
B. S.
Food was decent but not spectacular. None of the dishes were particularly memorable. The sheep's brain tortellini was the highlight. I visited Franklin a week prior, and that was much better in all respects. Risotto was under done although the waiter said it was "al dente" (the chef must like the centre uncooked, ie hard and chalky). Service was average and not particularly friendly on a busy Friday night, may be better on a weekday.
N. K.
Food and service were top notch and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Standouts were the plate of fig oil and caramelised balsamic which was served with warm sourdough, the venison spaghetti cooked to perfection and the half roasted pigeon which was so so tender. Loved the ambience as well.
A. P.
Great wine list, great staff and delicious food. I think a bit too expensive for what it is having eaten at Michelin hat restaurants (which Fico is not) There was one or two of our meals that tasted great but were either overcooked or paltry in portions. We were happy though with everything overall and had a great night 🥂
A. E.
I can't believe we almost missed this place on our recent trip to Hobart, a friend recommended it and after a disappointing dinner for our anniversary we decided to check out Fico for lunch the next day - it was wonderful! Thanks so much guys for being flexible and making the risotto without mussels, it was such a treat. The kingfish was incredible, and the bee pollen ice cream with meringue was next level, don't judge me if we just come in for 5 desserts next time haha. The service was outstanding too. See you next time we're in town!
E. C.
Ordered the lamb brain tempura (lovely but a tad rich for one person to finish alone), roasted pigeon that was exquisite, and a cheddar paired with a recommended sherry that was perfect. Staff were brilliant, friendly, appropriately attentive and gave great recommendations. Possibly the best meal I've had in the 7 months I've been in Australia
t. v. u.
Not only is the food amazing, but the staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming. My partner and i sat down to a 'feed me' degustation and i'm yet to think of any negatives. The atmosphere is buzzing and the communual seating really enhances the vibe. Being able to experience such a beautiful meal with likeminded people and step out of your usual comfort zone of the boring old one on one dinner you can get anywhere else. Will be back as many times as my wallet will allow!
A. O.
Great food (try the Pigeon or Kingfish), interesting wine list, attentive service and funky space.
K. Q.
What an amazing first dinner out in Hobart! The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. Favourites of the night was the anchovy on deep fried brioche and the Brian 3 pinots. Fantastic Fico, thank you!
M. H.
We opted for the multi dish feed me luncheon, and matched it to our own wine selection from the very good wine list. Superb!!
T. M.
We ordered the 'let us feed you' option (7 courses). The flavour of the food was unreal and the waiters were attentive and polite however waiting 20 minutes between courses (the two main courses had half hour waits before them) is far too long. From ordering, this took us two and a half hours to be fed. On the whole this damaged the experience. Possibly a particularly busy night in the kitchen.
B. C.
Great meal. Nice staff and delicious, interesting food served in lovely surrounds. Fantastic wine list too. And for what you get it's really quite a reasonable price.
e. s.
Delicious and creative food, I eat there a month ago and can’t stop thinking of the amazing food particularly the desserts
W. R.
This is our new favourite restaurant. The food was unbelievable. We had the truffle menu and we couldn't fault it! The service was excellent and the ambiance was just lovely. The restaurant was spacious but intimate and had just the right amount of casual elegance. Just devine.
K. B.
Great food and excellent service. We enjoyed the set menu for lunch and liked it a lot.
I feel that the pasta and risotto were a bit salty for my taste, hence, ask for less salt to be used.
A. M.
My favorite meal in Tasmania. Fico’s flavors were unique and delicious. I love the focus on fresh from the farm Australian ingredients. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
