Amazing place for steak and Tasmanian food. The interior with its landscape paintings look incredible as well. Have a try of the Oysters on the menu they are so delicious as well as have a try of the amazing Gewürztraminer white wine on the menu.

Delicious...that's the main word here. We had a huge day out at Port Arthur and we were craving a good steak dinner. Landscape didn't disappoint with an amazing steak dinner and fit us in as a walk in. Lucky us.
The pepperberry and cognac sauce was amazing..make sure you order that with the steak. I had the eye fillet which was very tender, cooked well and the sides were delicious. Great service. Thank you.

The staffs were super welcome and friendly and offered over-expectation service (especially the tall guy with a samurai head style, sorry I cannot remember your name). With awesome steak and service and the environment, this is a place u must visit.

Before I came to here, I thought St. Albi got the best steak at Hobart, but now I have changed my mind. Landscape Restarant & Grill definitely produced the best steak! We ordered one Scotch fillet 300g and a pork cutlet as main. Pork was average but the steak was really yum, juicy and full of the smoky wooded smell. The environment was decent and the staff provided good services as well. It is a really good place to celebrate anniversary or birthday I reckon. We will definitely come back again.

Beautiful restaurant with romantic ambiance and great service. The scotch fillet was tender and flavourful. Their oysters were a bit salty but very creamy. The lamb was succulent but didn't really stand out. The paris mash and duck fat potatoes were an excellent accompaniment. The beef tartare was nice but was too acidic and bitter and over-sauced.
Overall, I would highly recommend the steaks and the paris mash/duck fat potatoes.

Being a single in a room full of groups and couple I thought I will feel like a duck out of water but staff were attentive and made me feel welcome. I had my birthday dinner yesterday. The food, staff and atmosphere was excellent. We were accommodated with their best service, the experience with the set menu for a table of 12 was amazing! However limited selection of aged meats. Wagyu scotch was amazing. The little scotch also amazingly tender and clean tasting, but a little more funk from the aging process would have done it for me.

I’d come here just for the complimentary bread - wow - so damn good! Then the octopus is served which is truly delicious and constructed beautifully on the plate. Just when I think that things couldn’t get any better, the lamb is served which just dissolves on your tongue and spreads joy around your mouth. A refined gem. Every plate was a talking point, especially the seafood stew. The flavour of wood very present in the steak, but not overpowering. Perfectly balanced.

When you see duck fat chips, you know they are not joking around, you know they are serious about food.
So you just believe that anything on that menu is going to be perfect.
The char-grilled octopus was seasoned perfectly, with that char-grilled after taste. Got me on that first bite.
T-bone was perfect medium-rare, tender, juicy. It’s hard to keep that juiciness on a grill. I should’ve gone for a wagyu.
Fish was seared nicely, crispy outside, tender inside.
Mushroom special, that truffle butter, oh mine. With the crispy garlic chips, the contrast on texture was worth that special.
Even desserts were amazing, saffron sponge has that satisfying texture, finishing off with the freshness of blood orange.
And did I say the duck fat pink eye? We had 2 serves of these!

The atmosphere is elegant and I enjoyed walking around looking at the art work and walking through the Henry Jones building after dinner, all part of the experience
I ordered only a main from the menu a 200g Sirloin steak with pepper berry and cognac sauce.
The steak comes on a plate with a grilled lettuce, you need to order sides with it The steak was the best I have eaten, it has a very strong smokey flavour and is a very good cut of meat. I really enjoyed the sauce and we all ordered a different side salad with an extra side of duck fat chips.
It is a very expensive meal but they try to use all Tasmanian produce and is of excellent quality, that mixed with the whole dining experience I believe worth every cent. Would make a lovely outing for any visitors to the state you may have. I thoroughly enjoyed it

Landscape is hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been too! The meal was absolutely exquisite (I highly, highly recommend the eye fillet with a side of cauliflower) and the service was impeccable. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough - if you haven’t been, do yourself a favour and go!

One of the best fine dining experiences I have had the pleasure of visiting. The service was a perfectly choreographed dance and the first 10 minutes are a flurry of activity. The over 20 page drinks menu can be overwhelming but the staff are incredibly helpful and informative.
The food menu is unpretentious but each item is executed to absolute perfection. Each entrée is distinct with flavour and character and the grill mains were beautifully smoky and cooked spectacularly.
Cheese selection was a delightful mix of local and imported, the raw milk cheese being a clear standout.
Between the impeccably friendly and yet unobtrusive service and amazing food, I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly.

Fantastic space for a special date with great friendly service and very helpful staff but check menu prices beforehand if you don't have much to spend. The food was delicious and maybe you could do better for the price but as someone who spends a lot of time around food, I'd say it'd be hard.
My date and I shared the lamb dish and the seafood pasta, both dishes had many subtle details and were flavoursome without being overpowering.
We each tried a variety of poltergeist gin with tonic and the high quality was surprising for such a good price (mind you the wine is really where prices shoot up).
Our desert was a decadent bombe Alaska for 2 which was delicious though very rich, i imagine this is what most would want from their dessert.
If you frequently attend nice restaurants you may have a different opinion on this place but for us this was a great place to celebrate a special occasion :)

This was a highlight of our trip. Everything was out of this world. No stone left uncovered, every detail arranged.
The food was excellent. The Eye Fillet was cooked to perfection and took me back to streets of Paris.
The star of the show was a waiter called ‘Camilo.’ A breath of fresh air with nothing too difficult.
This has to be one of the best restaurants in Hobart, if not Tasmania.

*Rice crusted southern calamari, bonito aioli, miso caramel, chili - this was superb! Great flavours and calamari was so tender!!

Mains wise: wagyu steak was good but not the best, tasted something better in blackcows in Launceston.
Service: beginning was good, receptionist is the star, waiter introducing menu was very welcoming. However, when our waiter is gone(I suppose finished work), we felt like we are left out, staff from then was not very attentive.

Complimentary bread is always a great start to a dinner.
The drinks menu was disappointing, especially if you aren’t a wine connoisseur. The wine menu had about 40+ pages, where as the drinks menu had 4 drinks to choose from.
For starters my partner ordered char-grilled octopus, sweet potato, harissa, preserved lemon. There was no sweet potato, nor was there any preserved lemon or harissa. Although there was hummus.
For main I ordered the Free range Berkshire pork cutlet, wood fired celeriac, green apple walnut. I don’t recall there being any walnuts on my plate. I also ordered a side of Paris mash.
The dish itself was nice. The pork chop was cooked well. The mash tasted like it was instant mash, definitely not restaurant quality.
My partner ordered Flinders Island lamb rump, smoked potatoes, Cygnet mushrooms and a side of roast cauliflower, cumin, gruyere, raisins.
The lamb was cooked really well, but there was definitely no mushrooms on the plate.
For dessert we ordered the creme caramel and the the chocolate fondant.
Both desserts were nice and a good to way to end the night.
Now looking at the menu online, it’s clearly different from the menu in the restaurant and definitely different from what we received on our plates.

If I could do a 10 star rating I would, I had planned a special night with my partner of 27 years where I was surprising her with a engagement ring (yes I know it was a long time coming). I had arranged for a bunch of red roses to be delivered on the day and planned with the manager to have them come out with the desert menu. They had everything ready for us and it all went off with out a hitch. The food was also fantastic and the service was exceptional. It all turned out better than I had hoped. The Landscape restaurant now holds a very special spot in our hearts and we will be definitely back soon

By far, one of the most memorable nights I've had. Service was absolutely top notch - Thibault (I'm so sorry if I haven't spelt that correctly) and Jordan were amazing and the night definitely wouldn't have been as great if they weren't there. Great service, friendly and respectful, guiding us through the menu with dexterity and finesse, arranging our dinner in such a way that it was definitely a unique experience. The meat was aged and matured with dexterity. But above ALL, they let us discover one of the most spectacular wine I ever drank, La Judith - 2013.

Decor and service is great. Food? Not so much. I was really excited reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, which state that this place has some of the finest steak in the region. But I was disappointed.
The octopus was tough and my steak was overdone (sent it back). The second time it came out it wasn't much better but I smiled and nodded and added salt just to be curious.
On the other hand the wine list and sides were amazing. I get it.. steak and octopus are tough to cook. But if I can cook better steak and octopus, then I expect a place that I pay $70USD for a steak to reciprocate.

Guys and gal's, this is truly an experience I will remember for a long time. Came here for my birthday dinner (23rd June 2021, 8pm reservation) on an impromptu trip to tassie from Victoria. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were welcomed and made to feel special. Amir was our server and he was an absolute wealth of knowledge. Impeccable service and thank you for the great advice re Euro River cruises :-) the two barmen in the bar were extremely knowledgeable about tassie whiskey and gave us a great rundown! The team leader (I am so sorry I missed your name) was truly delightful and you can absolutely tell his service skills have trickled down to his staff. They are a credit to you and to this impeccable restaurant. Thank you for an amazing evening of great food, amazing wine and excellent conversation. We will be back when we return to Hobart.

A great steak house with an extensive wine list! The atmosphere is comfortable with dark woods and black walls, yet the.lighting is dramatic and well placed. My eye fillet was perfectly cooked and flavorful and the sides also well done. This was accomplished after a false fire alarm interrupted our meal. Kudos to the kitchen staff for not missing a beat!

Disappointed.
My steak was a couple of millimeters thick but was somehow raw in the middle and the steak was as flat as pancake and chewy. It was served with half lettuce that was charred. It was as unappealing as it sounds.
My wife ordered a bowl of gnocchi which was the same serving size as a starter. A child on the next table had a bowl of spaghetti with a serving size that was 3 times the size of my wife's meal. We had to laugh.
My wife had to fill up on bread and chips.
The calamari was delicious. The service was great and the food came out really fast.
After the disappointing meal we had a fantastic ice cream on a boat to make up for it which saved the night.

My partner had the eye fillet with dhukka and prune cauliflower, and she too rated the steak as the best she's had.

Where do I start? DELICIOUS!!! The beef tartare was the best I've had, try the mash potato side dish that was bloody awesome. the rest of the food we ordered was absolutely amazing too couldn't fault it. The steak we ordered came out cooked as to perfection one of the best bleu steaks I've ever had. The staff were also very attentive and friendly and knew their menu. The atmosphere was superb for a fine dining date. A few items were not put on our bill which I made the staff aware of as I wouldn't of paid less for what an amazing night it was and still tipped them. Definently would recommend to people who want a fine dining experience.

First stake was Angus and it was absolutely terrible, so hard to chew. I thought the reason was because it was overcooked and I asked it to be replaced by a less cooked one, but still the same: impossible to chew.
In order not to cause a fuss in the restaurant I decided to order and pay another Eye Fillet and this time it was fantastic.
So my suggestion is simply to avoid Angus. To be fair, the restaurant should just take it off its menu in the first place. It is not a decent piece of meat.

I truely cannot fault this place and continue to recommend it to anyone looking for Hobart’s best steak.
The restaurant is warm and welcoming as you expect for a steakhouse but has an almost delicate elegance, much like you are having dinner in an art gallery.
This is among Hobart’s most expensive restaurants but the money is well spent in my opinion.
The service is first class striking a very nice balance of knowledge, recommendations, attention and privacy.
We both had steaks which were outstanding in their quality and preparation.

45 pages of wines (well, including some cognac and similar)?? That's not only insane, but annoying as heck when the table ends up agreeing on something only for it to be not available and the whole process has to start again. Also happened with the desert wines.
Food excellent for me although some diners at my table had a couple of very minor criticisms. The choice of cheese was very good as well. Unfortunately the menu doesn't list what foods are suitable for dietary requirements and the staff didn't seem too sure either, apart from that the service was excellent.
Some other diners were touching the art work and this made me twitch greatly please don't touch the art. No. Really. Please.

I've worked in hospitality for over 15 years around the world. Landscape is on par with the best. The food is amazing in a simple way of just done right! The service is just want you want. Not over done and imposing, their there when you want them to be. The restaurant is beautiful again in a simple way with original and quality art workt to look at and your free to get up and look at.
It's not cheap and is for a special occasion but very much worthy. I think it's the best restaurant in Hobart right now.

It's a hard one to judge really.
It a really nice place, but basically date night or business dinner type of place. Don't take a baby or everyone will stare at you for interrupting their date night, staff were quite ok with it though.
Table service was friendly, service with meals was very slow, considering we were the second group in the restaurant and the steaks were barely cooked.
There aren't too many places you can go to get your steak how you want it but everyones steak was way under what was ordered.
3 of the 4 steaks were a decent cut but one wasnt the best for the 65 dollar price tag.
No regular soft drinks, very limited beer range but large wine and spirit range.
The duck fat chips and Paris mash were nice, chips just like a seasoned baked potato. Deserts were ok.
So cost vs quality it hits between 3 and 4 stars for us.

Food is nice enough, wouldn't say it's anything special though, and for one third the price you would get something 90% as good at a pub. Service is incredibly slow, don't expect to receive your main until you've been sitting at your table for at least 90 minutes.

We were at Landscape last weekend for dinner. Beaut ambience and attentive service. Unfortunately it took almost 90 minutes for mains to be served from order. We enquired at about an hour and five minutes from order. Response was apologetic, and we were advised our meals would be "another two or three minutes." Food was on the table ten to twelve minutes after that. Steaks were perfectly cooked but we were in agreeance that meat was served cooler than you would expect. For a fine dining ecperience such as this, you expect better.

Lots and lots and lots and more wine. A person can get lost in that much wine. Landscape oil and water paintings by John Glover, who gave rise to the John Glover annual landscape painting award. The paintings all add a surreal ambience to restaurant. There is a selection of dinner knives on display with various initials. I never did ask what they represented, as there wasn't a plaque to explain their meaning to the uninitiated. Over all the meal delicious and service exemplary.

I could not recommend this place more. Food wise, highlights for us were the Smoked Beef Tartare and Mooloolaba King Prawns with a ridiculous brown butter emulsion. Everything we ate (a lot) was amazing but these two dishes were incredible.
The service could not be faulted, all staff were polite, friendly and informative. They ensured we were well look after while never hovering about or being intrusive.
The dining setting (especially lighting) is not something I get too wrapped up in but I couldn't help but be impressed with Landscape. I'm very easily distracted/irritated by lights and noise, neither of which were an issue. Now this sounds stupid even as I type it but I was very impressed by the lighting. Each table was made to look and feel like dining in a peaceful isolation. As a hypersensitive sperg, it was perfect for me.
This is fine dining, and you of course pay a higher price for it. In saying that, I feel that for such an exceptional level of dining; Landscape is VERY reasonably priced and the bill is easily justifiable. I look forward to visiting again.

My husband and I came to Landscape during our visit to Hobart for our honeymoon.
The experience from the moment we walked in, was of the highest calibre. The mood lighting and art work by John Glover on the walls created a unique and very ambient dining experience. The decor matched the menu so well. It was all tied together beautifully.
I ordered the sashimi as an entree which was incredibly flavoursome. Then for main, I ordered the 200g eye fillet cooked rare. Without any exaggeration, this was honestly the best steak I have eaten in my entire life. It was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth with every bite.
Special mention to Asia and Thaulien who went over and above to ensure we ordered foods and paired them with wines we would love.
If you’re looking for a fine dining experience whilst in Hobart, look no further. Make sure you book ahead though.
