Visiting Tasmania won’t be complete without trying this very nice restaurant. We ordered their seafood marinara and another chicken dish as our mains. It was so good and served so fresh! The dessert was also a very nice treat!

Scrumptious lunch at Maldinis Monday afternoon. My partner chose the seafood broth comprising many superbly cooked types of seafood, including scallops, octopus, squid, mussels, prawns and fish. He loved it and he is usually a red meat eater. I chose the Ocean trout with filo wrapped asparagus and char-grilled squash. Excellent service on a lovely summer's day.

Was craving some Italian food as it had been awhile since the last time so decided to finally try out Maldini's. I had heard good things about the place so it was time to try it out for myself. The staff were friendly from the get-go and was at my table in no time. It was around 6:30pm so the place was packed which added to the atmosphere. The waitress did a great job and was a credit to the restaraunt. I started off with an entree of bruchetta with melted mozzarella and a glass of beer. There was no decision needed when it came to the main meal as I hadn't had cabonara in ages. I wasn't disappointed. All up the whole lot cost around $50 so fairly reasonable for a good and filling meal.

Beautiful little Italian. A thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable lunch, listening to a harpist while drinking a gorgeous rosé and dining on the pan-fried semolina gnocchi special of the day. Definitely recommend.

After reading the reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the meal and service (shout out to Ben! #legend). We arrived without a booking on a busy Easter weekend. They said 45min but for us in in 10 which was welcomed. We ordered the seafood pasta and chicken risotto. Pasta was delish although I like more fish in it. The risotto was a great blend of ingredients and not soggy (thank god!) but needed lemon and pepper, which I stole from the pasta and was generously provided respectively. The drinks were spot on and so fast! Of course the location and heritage building is sublime, but with all the choices in this area, I think this is one of the best. After 26years they have earned the right to be a destination of choice. Not the best food I have ever ordered, but definitely one of best holiday experiences.

Had been on a Wednesday and it was amazing food and atmosphere. However then we went for lunch on Sunday the food was no where near as good nor was their service and atmosphere. an Epic B team being used for Sundays' it appears. the Sunday in question was the 7th November in case the restaurant wants to look into it. Also not many Vegetarian options. though we didn't ask for any just the native menu doesn't have that many.

My boyfriend and I came to Hobart for a short holiday, we decided to visit Maldini and we were not disappointed. The food is fresh, flavourful and well crafted. We had antipasto for entree, and seafood marinara and meatball spaghetti for mains. The platter was well thought out, the only criticism would be that we would’ve liked more bread to balance out the generous amount of cured meat and salad + spread. I ordered the seafood pasta, it was rich and creamy, and each individual piece of seafood were cooked to perfection. The meatballs were hearty and flavourful, the red sauce had the right amount of tang to balance dish. The waiters were very nice and attentive. Overall, very happy we visited and will recommend to everyone!

Lovely local Italian restaurant. The food was alright, except for my penne which was slightly on the saltier side - everything else was good. Service was at times a bit on the slower side too (possibly because it was a busy night). The place is warm and cozy, perfect for family dinners. Overall, pleasant experience and will be back.

Had an amazing time here with my friends. Staff were amazing, very attentive and incredibly friendly. My group had a variety of dishes, but we all agreed that the fruitti di mare was the star of the evening. It's a wonderful tomato based dish with a not small amount of fresh chillis which surprisingly ownly adds a gentle hum of warmth. The smoked salmon adds an interesting and different taste to help break up the consistency of the sauce. The fresh seafood is cooked wonderfully and the fried calamari is a wonderful textural addition to the dish and great carrier of of the sauce. Their tiramisu is also super delicious. It hurts my wallet a tiny bit, but I would definitely go back.

It's time to return to Maldini's. They have a new menu which is absolutely divine including a completely revamped dessert selection. They have a great selection of wines for pairing to their simple but cooked to perfection mains. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Best italian in Hobart City.

I went at 9.17pm, the kitchen was almost closed but still the loveliest staff made an effort and asked the chef if he is alright to serve just one more meal and tadaaaa I had one of the yummiest pasta and fries. We felt the fish of the day was overpriced for the size of the meal. The lamb bruschetta was overcooked and therefore dry and a bit misleading in its description. But, the penne bolognese and the pork belly were absolutely beautiful. Would go again but make a different choice! Enjoyed the affogato at the end!

I think this was my second time having a dinner there and my memory of the first one was not great, but oh boy, was it worth it to come back! An eye fillet I had was certainly one of the best I ever tried. We had a mushrooms+leafy greens thingy for an entree (sorry, names were too Italian to remember) and we cleared the plate up in minutes. Classic restaurant experience - first class food and attentive experienced staff, very satisfied!

I'm very impressed by the quality of Italian food at Maldini! The gnocchi was absolutely divine, they were a great size and super light + melt in the mouth. The tomato sauce was super tasty and flavourful which made it a 5/5 dish for me. My partner really enjoyed his seafood pasta as well and we agreed that it's one of the best Italian meals we've had. The actual restaurant is in a great location right in the heart of Salamanca and it's lovely sitting outside. Service was friendly and professional. I'd highly recommend, we left very satisfied and would love to go back next time I'm in Hobart!

One of the best spaghetti alla marinaras I've had in recent memory. Absolutely perfect in every way. I also had the carpaccio starter, perfect again. We came in late as a party of 5 with no reservation and they accommodated us. I was told the gnocchi were perfect little pillows of fluff too. A really terrific meal! Will eat here again when I'm back in Hobart.

My wife and I really love Maldini's it serves good food, is in a great location, the waiting staff are great and it is in a fantastic location. The only negative is that when busy the food can take a seriously long time to arrive especially at lunch (on one occasion it was over an hour between finishing the starter and the main course turning up). Definitely worth a visit but don't be in a hurry.

Food was amazing and authentic! Plus our meals arrived relatively quickly (15 minutes, even when told that was their "busy period waiting times"). While the restaurant was packed inside, there was plenty of seating outside and with heating too. Only thing I would like to have seen more of was Vegetarian options, otherwise, great visit!

Yes, I work here and people might say I'm biased but even after work I still come back here and enjoy fresh food, exceptional customer service and beautiful interior. There is no better place in Hobart that I would rather go. And let me tell you something about Spaghetti alla Marinara and house made gnocchi.. They are out of this world... And who is better to review this place than a person who works here. So everyone who doesn't believe me, come down and try it yourself...

Amazing Italian classics in a rustic, intimate surround. The service staff are faultless and so observant to the diners needs. Only slight critique would be with our entree. We ordered the eye fillet bruschetta special and the meat would have been better cooked whole and then sliced to serve. Uneven chunks led to uneven cooking but still a pleasure to eat!

The zucchini lasagne was amazing. All the other food was very underwhelming. The drinks were great. The service was really good. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a typical dine in restaurant, nothing special. I want to give this place a two stars but I can't fault it on it's food. It was fresh and decent enough based in the five dishes we ordered. There wasnt very much to choose from. If you're looking for a very nice dinner or an authentic Italian cuisine with lots of options, go find somewhere else to eat. If you're a bit desperate and don't mind limited options and mainly want to drink and chill out, then this place is okay

Great food and fabulous service. What more can you ask for? The perfect eye fillet, perhaps? Well you are in luck. I have heard many tender cuts compared with marshmallows (even done it myself). But this is a close contest. Sometimes hard to tell if the meat is actually between your teeth when you bite down. Well done to both the chef and the grazier.

Beautiful authentic Italian food, in generous helpings (we waddled away quite full). Service was personal and excellent - they were more than happy to accommodate tricky dietaries in a pretty busy period. A small miscommunication between wait staff and the kitchen was fixed at lightning speed, the rich but simple carbonara well worth the wait.

Considering it's location in Salamanca Maldini could be forgiven for charging a little more but we found it reasonable and very good Italian food. Pasta was a little floury but tasty. Seafood zuppa had just the right spice and the local Coal Valley pinot delicious! Service was excellent

Cannot fault this restaurant. We eat out often, several times a week and it’s been a long tome since I can say a restaurant was this good. It’s not often you go to a restaurant and the food lives up to the wrap the waiters give it. It was everything he told us it would be and more. We had a starter, entree, main and dessert and I can’t fault any of it. Eye filllet cooked to perfection, polenta gnocchi was exceptional, panacotta and the chocolate tart was to die for. The service was as good as the food. We are on holidays here in Tasmania but if we come back again this will be the first place we go. Highly recommended.

The eye fillet was cooked just right with tonnes of natural flavour. The sides are also good with plenty of greens flavoured with garlic, beetroot and baked potato. The only thing was the prosciutto wrapping the steak was overcooked with low heat, which meant it was chewy rather than crunchy. The garlic bread was rock hard on the crust, which made it a bit hard to eat. Service was attentive if not by someone hugely experienced.

We sat next door enjoying a beer and after eyeing off everyone's dinner at Maldini, we decide to eat here too. Everything was delicious. We ordered a very innovative gnocchi dish to start with and split a generous serve of the fish of the day (kingfish) for our main. Pair that with a bottle of the Bream Creek pinot noir and you cannot go wrong! Our waiter was incredibly friendly and patient and made for a fabulous experience.

We went here on a Thursday night, with our 18 month old in tow (fearing the worst). Food was excellent (had the chilli mussels tagliatelle and my partner the lamb ragu), the service was quick and attentive and the decor simply smart without overdoing it. You really couldn't ask for more. I would especially note how accommodating they were of our little girl. The blonde waitress, whose name we sadly missed, had our girl giggling and the kitchen even prepared a toddler sized special order of peas. All in all a very enjoyable experience, in an interesting area.

The food was okay, it wasn’t incredible and it wasn’t average - somewhere in between would be the best description. Its just not a restaurant I’d go out of my way to go to again, and I wouldn’t go telling anyone about it either. For two entrees, two mains and two alcoholic drinks it costs $150, I guess that’s not too expensive? I don’t know why but this place just left me feeling ‘meh’

We walked in to this restaurant while my husband and I travelled to Hobart. I suddenly wanted to have Italian food that night, then we encountered this restaurant at a street corner. The restaurant was going to be busy, and we were told that we had to leave by 7:45pm. We were fine as we wanted to go somewhere at night. The decor of the restaurant was in European style, giving you an impression that you are back to Europe. We ordered entree and main course, without wine, which caused the waitress looked at us in a bit strange way. Anyway, she kept coming back to refill our glass, which was good service. The entree came in quickly, - Bruschetta ŵ melted bocconcini, confit garlic, fresh oregano, evoo & cracked black pepper, I'm not Italian, so the food to me is the bread with garlic and some herbal spice butter and melted cheese, it was my first time to have this bread, both my husband and I were impressed. The main course took a long time to arrive, my husband had a steak, and I had seafood pasta with salad. The steak was juicy, and cooked in right tenderness; my pasta was exactly what I wanted, creamy and delicious. It was a pity that the manager told us to take our time to have the meal after we've half finished, as he just found a table. I was too full to have dessert, so we left by 7:45pm. The total cost was about $80, and it was absolutely nicer than the one we had in Bicheno. We've told everyone about this restaurant after we came back. Highly recommended

This restaurant lives up to its mission statement; "For Lovers of Fine Food, Wine, Art & Culture" From an excellent modern Italian menu we chose, A Maldini Taste plate - Chargrilled farm quail, crispy skinned pork belly, char grilled octopus. Beautifully prepared and presented, totally delicious, also a genuine Spaghetti alla marinara, mussels, clams, prawns, fish & calamari, in a garlic and white wine sauce. This dish was Delightful, with a texture & taste that just left you totally satisfied. We finished with two mouth watering desserts, and excellent coffee's. This restaurant is understandable busy, with attentive professional service. A great wine and bar selection. Maldini's has a vibe and ambience that you will enjoy, we did. Bookings would be advisable.
