This restaurant was recommended to us by the locals. I ordered the sliders and a side of Greek salad. My partner ordered the scotch fillet cooked medium with mushrooms sauce and a side of onion rings. My burgers were cooked well and tasted awesome. My partner’s steak was cooked well which he was very pleased with. The onion rings were cooked in a batter that was a little to thick. Great night, great meals and great service.

My family and I loved dining at this restaurant. We got there early, about 5.45pm to avoid any crowds on a Saturday night. We had excellent customer service from the staff, very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. The mains were large servings, very filling. Of course we had to have dessert, which was just enough sweetness to finish off a great meal. It was not a cheap night out but one that the 4 of us enjoyed immensely.

I've been here several times since moving back to Hobart. Wary at first that this was just another glorified steakhouse, I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of the food presented here. The skewers are always a novel feature at the table, reminiscent of the South American grills back in London, and if course South America. If you're into sharing your food with friends, the overnight slow lamb is to die for, easily feeding up to four people.

Went in for lunch. Two wagyu burgers, one porterhouse steak, one halloumi salad. Everything was amazing, all of us were impressed with the great food and generous portions. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, and at an average of $40 each, our meals + drinks were very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

Apart from the undercooked vegetables the food was great. However my experience here tonight was upsetting. The lovely young waitresses were polite and very impressive however I was disturbed by the way some of the kitchen staff interacted with them. Some of the degrading comments made by the kitchen staff regarding one of the waitresses shocked me and instantly turned me off my meal. It appears to me that there may be some workplace bullying that needs to be addressed by management.

Shadow of its former self; the grill's food was disappointing when we visited. So much to like (staff, setting etc) but the main deal- the steaks were not the quality or size you expect for the money. Salad was overly sweet and soggy.

Attentive staff and nice atmosphere in the upstairs area, be sure to ask for a spot next to the gas fire on a cold night! I tried the shared meat platter and although nice, was meat overkill. The calamari and chicken were the highlights, the sausage and pork belly not so much, would be good to incorporate more salad or vegies on it. My friends enjoyed their steak and veg.

Superb food and vibe. The Calamari was soft and juicy, and the Tasmanian eye fillet was cooked to perfection and practically melted with each bite. The cherry on top of the cake was the creamy and generous serving of creme brulee. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient, and we felt very satisfied with our visit. We were a table of 8 and we had a really good time. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

1st time diners at Roaring Grill. Very Poor service and waited far too long for our orders. Then forever for meals to be served... 2 guests choices not available.... Risotto tasteless. Pork spare ribs delicious. Skewers delicious. Lamb rack under cooked. Salmon wonderful. Great atmosphere. ...Just finishing drinks and lights turned right down. We got the message.....Meals expensive..... Thank goodness for entertainment vouchers.

The meat sharing plate entree was enormous and all pretty tasty, the mains not quite as satisfying. It wasn't bad but from a place that specialises in grilling and meaty dishes I'd expect a little more attention to getting the different cuts cooked just right. Some were a little tough and could've used a more slow-cook approach. Also the canned whipped cream on ready-made deserts was slightly disappointing.

The staff were lovely. No hovering yet still attentive. Husband had beef sliders and chips and he loved them. I had the 200g eye fillet with potato and slaw. The slaw was absolutely delicious as was the smashed potato. The steak was a little overcooked and they offered a new one straight away. But I was already into it and enjoying it so I didn't want to lose it. Yum! To top it off, we shared a fabulous creme brule. Awesome meal! Thank you. We'll be back.

We really enjoyed our meal here! We had the 12 hour cooked lamb shoulder which was delicious but what you’d expect for the price ($90 for 2 people but generous servings!). What would have made it perfect? They could have been a lot more generous with the sides eg our Mac n cheese to share with 2 people ended up being about 3-4 spoonfuls each. Also, whilst service was super friendly, it was a little slow. We were waiting (and would have ordered another glass of wine) despite a waiter who was often standing and doing nothing. Overall, it was a really great meal and would have been perfect had we not had somewhere else to rush off to afterwards.

Really wonderful. We went here for a special occasion and were not disappointed. The food was cooked to perfection, staff were friendly. The salmon skewers looked amazing. When we ordered dessert to share, there was some mix up and it took ages to arrive. They apologised, gave us two instead of one and didn't charge us. Very nice.

Always a great steak. A busy atmosphere with efficient staff. The temptation to add extra sides (like the thick cut chips) is overwhelming even when the dish comes with a great mash and salad. Best seating is upstairs in my opinion - much more atmosphere and warmth with the exposed brick.

Best meal we've had in Hobart! My friends and I drove past and was intrigued by the smoke from the grill, did some research on the restaurant, and decided to try it out. Best decision we've made! My friend and I had the market fish, my friend's husband had the homemade sausages, all delicious! Coupled with friendly and attentive service made it the perfect meal. Thanks Roaring Grill!

The meal quality here has always been super variable (I've eaten here 5-10 times over the years), but last time I ate here nothing except the garlic bread was tasty. Too expensive to take a risk on getting sub-par food. Your experience may vary, but I won't be giving it another shot.

The Roaring Grill, a hearty atomspheric stomach filling venue that leaves you wanting more, sometimes. I've been here more than once and I've ordered their mouth watering steak more than once and have left quite happy more than once but... sadly tonight was not the case. I ordered a steak with some sauce for around $42 and got a meal very undeserving of the asking price... I was going to give 2 stars but my previous times have been great. We ordered the pork entree which came out rather dry whilst the salad that accompanied it was a really poor attempt of changing the leaves up (spinach leaves) and using the same dressing you get with the waldorf salad that is served up with the steaks. Not good. The creamy mash was spot on though! Probably the best creamy mash I have had and the Mac and cheese was delightful. My steak was fine. It wasn't amazing, it wasn't bad. It was fine. The basic waldorf salad was out dated, I say this because its the same salad they have served from day dot (I'd love to see an update, like a seasonal salad). My sauce had no soul, no body and had the viscosity of water. Thats my concern, pure consistency and that's what I base my review on. We all have off days but when your menu is somewhat pricey, you can't afford this. It needs to be consistent. Perhaps if there is a next time, I may update the amount of stars on this review.

Previously gave 5 stars and have been there several times over the intervening 5 years. However, on the latest visit the standards seem to have slipped a bit and the operation isn't as classy as once. The meat was not as good a quality as on previous visits nor cooked as well. Our orders were identical but one steak was not cooked anywhere near as much as the other. If standards are not maintained it can lead to a long spiral slide.

Lamb rack is small and fatty, steaks very good, desserts are hit n miss. Menu in general is overpriced, staff are inexperienced and very slow service 🐌 (unless your ready to pay)
