One of the best restaurants to visit in Tasmania. I can’t describe the taste in words. Pizza, pasta and ribs were amazing. Staffs are very professional and helpful. We enjoyed everything. Will definitely visit Solo Pasta and Pizza in future too and highly recommend.

Amazing food and service. We had such a great time here we visited twice during our trip to Hobart and the waitstaff recognised us the second time! Nothing beats fresh, carefully prepared food and large portion sizes making great value for money. What an enjoyable meal I had tonight. The spinach and ricotta ravioli were beautifully presented and delicious. Washed down with a Perini beer of course. For dessert I went with the affogato with frangelico. The staff were attentive and helpful. The Tiramisu was recommended and this is what my daughter had. It was yummy too. The place is run with Italian flair.

We are down in Tasmania for our honeymoon and decided to try Solo based on some good recommendations. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with smiles and a warm charming man who we would later find out is the owner. He made us feel like close friends immediately. The rest of the staff through the night have been really polite and attentive as well. I honestly couldn't ask for more. On to the food. Look. I'm Italian and I love my nonna, but this has to be some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten, at home or her place. Served with elegant plating but also extremely generous in size. I'm genuinely sad I can't come back every week for the rest of my life because I would. I recommend anyone who is in Hobart even for a day make their way here because you are missing out if you don't. We are planning to come back for our anniversary and you better believe we will be back. Thank you to everyone at Solo for making our night so amazing.

Pizza is consistently tasty. Lovely service each time we've been. Latest time we went we had friends with kids and the staff were very attentive to them and offered up colouring pictures and pencils to keep them entertained. Looking forward to going back.

very flavoursome and tasty pasta dishes - had the aglio e olio gamberi spaghetti and the napoletana marinara fettuccine; and carne/Frankie half and half pizza - which isn’t the thin crispy base style, more like a deep pan Pizza Hut style baked in a conventional oven. Overall meal was enjoyable but not spectacular as minor points deducted such as pasta bit over cooked (not al dente) and pizza topping baked a bit too much (topping crust too hard)

We follow those high start reviews on many platforms for dinner tonight in Solo. Beyond exceptional service, we also enjoy our pasta and pizza dishes as one of the best we ever had. However, due to some mistakes the restaurant has made, we have to wait over half an hour for our pizza after we have finished our pasta dish. For this circumstance, the owner of the restaurant has offered a satisfactory and professional solution by apologies, complimentary drinks and waive of the late dish. Everyone makes mistakes but solution matters, which make the restaurant still being the best in my mind. Good job!

It was surprised me, the pasta goes with Chilli oil so well. I felt like being the northwest of China somewhere to eat hot oil mixed with hot chilli noodles. Good job. I will try next time to use chilli oil mixed with cream pasta.

Oh wow! Honestly the best pizza I’ve ever had. We had the Diavolo and hubby and I shared the large. Brought some home as it was very generous size. Service was fabulous. Our waiter was lovely and the owner was awesome. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

One of the best pizzas I've every had. Homemade crust, right amount of topping. Amazing taste. Got take away and the service was friendly and quick. The restaurant itself was packed. Definitely recommend a visit. I'm going back for their pasta before I leave Hobart! Edit. Went back for the pasta. Got lasagna to go. They only offer the smaller entree size for the lasagna. But it filled me up and was tasty. A bit salty but I like salty pasta. Once again fantastic service.

Taste was way better than expected but your prices are shocking. $90 for two pastas, two potatoes and a salad....... Maybe consider meal deals for Uber? The seasoning was on point though. Portion sizes are perfect. It's just the price!

One of the best Italian restaurants I've been to when taken as a whole. They are very family friendly and my 3 year old received some lovely attention from several staff members. Meals are well price, super tasty and authentic. Gnocchi is made fresh in house and the same level of care seems to permeate all aspects of the food and service. Well be back to see if the food and service are consistently high. Edit : special mention for their chilli oil.... Awesome.

Firstly, I am the real Sara McKinnon and the only one I know of in Hobart. SOLO Pasta and Pizza has been my go to for the last 10+years and despite changing hands a few years ago, the place is fabulous and the food carefully prepared and delicious. The current owner has brought in some nice changes and that includes hiring staff from diverse backgrounds - Ive met South Americans, Italians and other Europeans as well as Asians both north and south but the common theme is that its an ALL AUSTRALIAN staffed restaurant. Ive never seen any discrimination here and is probably one of the only Italian restaurants in Australia with multi cultural staff. I have just heard that the small kitchen next door to SOLO has started a smear campaign for some fraudulent reason and they have used my name. This is an absolute shame and akin to the bullying Australia has been experiencing at the hands of a certain superpower. Please stop this nonsense as it will hurt more than it helps and STOP using my name!

I'm not sure about cheese on calzone, however the flavours were a great contribution to the meal, a little salty on the chicken breast but that just me, and you would expect it in restaurants, other than that the food and hospitality was amazing. Solo Pasta and Pizza was a delightful experience from the moment we stepped in the door from the chilly outside, Simon looked after us. We didnt have a reservation but were made to feel very welcome in this very busy restaurant. We were ushered to our seat and were looked after by a funny, helpful waitress. Although a busy night we were kept informed when our order was going to arrive. We were thoroughly satisfied with our choices. Beefcheeks, fettucini pollo (chicken), mushroom pesto risotto and a shared medium guisti pizza. Simon gave us a complimentary ouzo to warm us as we left to front the chilly night air. While surrounding restaurants were all closed by 9.30pm. Solo was packed to the rafters, a good sign that its a popular venue. Recommended.

Im a big fan of pasta and pizza and Solo does both really well. My garlic pizza tasted great, not too much garlic either which can sometimes be overdone. Pasta was packed full of flavour, although, the main size was just a tad small. When paired with an entree and drink, its just right, but without those, you may not leave completely full. I'll definitely be back for their great food, and quality service.

Well, what can I say, I have come to Solo quite a few times over the past year or so and, I must say, the standard seems to be slipping. We waited almost 20 min until I had to stand to get the attention of the waiter to get a drinks menu. We ordered 2 x raspberry lemonade which seemed to be a difficult task to write and understand as it was repeated back twice as just lemonade, 2 x small margaritas one with ham on it, told the cheesy bread was all that had cheese on it as the pizzas are pre made? Swap out anchovies for artichokes, the waiter struggled to understand this, almost 10 min to get the order right. I hope that this was just a one off bad night, it’s dampening a possible return atm.

For a table or 12 only one person didn't like what they ordered but they did order the seafood basket at an Italian restaurant which was well over salted. We travelled from WA to Tasmania for a holiday 5 years ago and stumbled onto Solo, and LOVED our meals. 5 years later, in 2021, we finally made it back to Tasmania - of course we had to book in for dinner while in Hobart. I ordered the Diavolo Pasta, same as 5 years ago, knowing full well it probably wouldn't be as good as I had remembered, BUT IT WAS! It was even better than I had remember. Ohhhh God, it was good! We ended up going back the following night too. Guys, it was good!

Honestly one of the best pizza's my wife and I have tried in Hobart, every ingredient worked well together on the pizza and the service was more then good. Our only dislikes were the price, $27 for a large pizza in my opinion is steep regardless of where you are. And the fact prices per pizza didn't change, a large margarita was still $27 or you could get a brucia for the same price. All in all, excellent service, good pizzas and a great atmosphere.

Walked in as a group of 5 without a reservation, we apologised for the oversight and was told to wait a few minutes while they disinfected and set up a table for us. Owner was on hand and offered us a drink each while waiting.This alone was extraordinary for us. Ordered and received food that was simply put absolutely delicious! We have been here before and can only say the food quality is exemplary without the unnecessary bs that typically comes with italian food. Service at the table was very attentive, staff were always topping up our drinks and enquiring to see if we were fine. The ambience was tasteful and classy and very welcoming of families. Good drinks selection,some very classic italian dishes - the Osso Bucco was just perfect and high quality pizzas that dont scrimp on ingredients. Keep up the good work guys.

Still excellent but unfortunately our pizza was not as it could have been, the base had not risen and therefore was doughy... thought about sending it back but it was "just" ok. Just visiting Tasmania and SOLO was suggested. We were amazed at the service we received. The owner spoke to us when we arrived and by the time we were seated we were treated to a delicious cheesy garlic bread which Im told is the owner's special signature.... We then proceeded to have bruschetta which was done so well followed by the calamari which was done to perfection as it was just so tender. We then had Piccante Fettucine which was creamy with just the right amount of spiciness which balanced the dish so well and a Pollo Picante Pizza which was rich and flavorful and had just the right amount of pizza base without the doughy feel of many pizza shops around. We could tell the pizza was made fresh as there was this artisan at work at the front of the restaurant rolling the pizza bases one by one. The Tiramisu was delectable and you could taste the many ingredients coming to fruition. As this was our first night in Hobart, SOLO has certainly set the bar very high. This is a MUST visit in Tasmania for sure. All the best to the Doc. and his team.

Busy restaurant and friendly welcoming staffs to start with. Very accommodating service. Many people come with families with small kids. 👍🏼 Ordered pasta and pizza as these are what they mostly sell. Pasta was nice, balanced flavours, textures and ingredients. Pizza was a let down. Couldn’t taste the ingredients clearly as the texture of the dough, cheese and tomato sauce just didn’t add together in a good harmony. Cheese was a bit too greasy. Dough wasn’t thin enough. Too sweet overall. $28.50 for 5 prawns in a slightly small portion of main size pasta and $22.50 for a medium size pizza were a bit on the expensive side.

Best restaurant we’ve been to in Hobart! Staff are wonderful and very friendly. Atmosphere is great. Food is delicious, we ordered a half and half pizza (BBQ chicken and tuto) and a classic spaghetti bolognese. My boyfriend said it’s the best pizza he’s ever had! The best restaurant experience I have ever had. Simon helped make my husband's birthday experience so personal and unique with only making the reservation 1 hour before. The food is amazing and you felt like part of the family. Thanks Simon and the whole team at Solo!

We had to sit at the bar as the restaurant was booked out, but we felt very cared for by Simon. When our food was delayed, he gave us all drinks on the house, and then free Italian sweets. He thanked us for "making our bar look nice" and ensured we stayed inside the restaurant to wait for our Uber as it was freezing outside. The food was delicious too. I had cannelloni (ricotta and spinach) and a rocket and baby spinach salad ($20 entree size, a generous 2 large cannelloni, and $10 for the salad). Oh yes, Simon also gave us a plate of garlic and herb bread to stave off our hunger while we waited for our food. He took photos of us from 3 different angles, all the while remaining friendly and continually observant of all around him, directing his lovely staff to find out if the ladies by the door were being looked after. The whole atmosphere of this busy place was one of family, rather than a business. The decor was warm and inviting, with large photos of different Italian scenes on the walls. I would definitely come here again while in Hobart, and am envious of those who live nearby!

After not being able to get into another Italian restaurant my daughter and I made our way to Solo. Although it was extremely busy we were greeted with enthusiasm and offered a seat at the bar which we gratefully accepted. From the moment we were seated we were treated like part of a family and spent a delightful evening chatting with staff past and present. Solo pasta and pizza is absolutely amazing the pizza was delicious and staff were friendly, helpful and happy to help with any questions we had. It was busy with lots of tourist and the resultant was full. They have an extensive menu with lots of pizza and pasta options and desserts too. I wouldn't say the pizza is gourmet but they are very tasty and good quality. The tiramisu was yummy too, although stronger than other tiramisu but the way I like it. It took about 20 minutes for pick up, I would recommend calling in advance and putting your order in. We can't wait to come back here when we are in Tassie next time and try the pasta. The only thing is it is a little expensive at around 15 dollars for the medium pizza and 20 for large takeaway, and don't have any take away deals with a couple of pizzas. Overall a fantastic dinner option when in Hobart.

Walked into this place on a Saturday night with out any reservation. The place was extremely busy and didn’t seem to have any tables. Simon welcomed us ( what a fabulous and friendly guy, most restaurants could learn a thing or two from him on how to welcome people into their establishments) and asked us to wait for a Minute and he came back to us shortly and managed to squeeze us in. All I can say was that the food was amazing I can highly recommend the wagu carpaccio, fresh oysters and beef cheek and rigatoni Bolognese. The real wait was probably not longer than 20 minutes and the owner was so lovely and apologetic, and gave my friend and I a Tasmanian cider & beer on the house. This was all great but the real reason I am writing this review is to rave about the gluten free base. I’ve eaten many gluten free items in my life that I’m not entirely sure weren’t just cardboard concealed as food. But this gluten free BBQ chicken pizza was something else. A blessing. A revelation. Ok, so I'm a bit nervous about writing this review, as I really need to ensure that I capture the fact that this is, without any doubt, the best restaurant I've ever been to. We booked based on the reviews, and from the moment that we entered the premises, the owner came round and greeted each of us personally, and made us feel incredibly welcome and valued from the outset. We have extremely efficient, patient and friendly table service. For the quality of the food provided, the pricing was outstanding. It's not going to be a super cheap night out, but the value is in what your receive, and It's worth every cent. I ordered the pan fried ravioli with pulled pork shoulder. I swear to you, all the ingredients of this dish blended so perfectly that I was physically upset when the dish was over. It was absolutely amazing. I came with my wife, a friend, and we had 3 small children with us. One of the Chefs came over as we were waiting for our meal and brought a fishing magnetic game with him, and taught the children how to play it. After our meal, he came back over with balloons and marker pens. To say these guys were friendly was an understatement. I've never felt more welcomed and valued, to the point that I kinda felt sad when I was leaving. I'm seriously considering ditching all other restaurants in Hobart for the remainder of our stay, and just coming back here every night. I'd recommend you book, as it was pretty busy when we were there. This place is perfect for any occasion, is very family friendly, relaxed and casual dining, with a quality of food which is absolutely second to none. I could not possibly recommend this place enough. Do yourself a favor and try this place out!

This family-friendly Italian restaurant is a hidden treasure. It's unassumingly decorated with film memorabilia and photos, and you could be forgiven for thinking it's just another little family pizzeria... but wow, we had dinner here and had one of the best nights ever thanks to the delightfully friendly staff and the perfectly prepared food. It felt like we were part of the family for a couple of hours, and to top it off, they gave us each a shot of Frangelico on the house as we paid our bill. Went as a young family of four, the waiter offer my kids a fishing toy game to pass the time and then colour pages. Had their cold meat plate which was excellent, best raw meat iv had. Solo is a white rose blooming on a Sandy desert. Friendly Simon is a brilliant raconteur who never makes you bored during the dinner service. He will gladly offer you a free grappa (Italian brandy) shot when you guys become good friends and becoming a good friend of this happy guy won’t be very hard. You will never go wrong with its rich taste of calzoni (pizza with filled dough) full of cheese. Risotto and squid dishes also will show off their flavour in your mouth. First impression was professional and friendly. We were greeted and seated efficiently. Drinks followed in an orderly fashion to our entree’s which was terrific. Then the mains came out 10 mins after our entrees had been finished. The main was flavoursome and delicious. We paired the mains with a vintage merlo from the Tasmanian east coast which was suggested by our waitress. Both the lamb and the wine were a match made in heaven. We proceeded to desert which consisted of a espresso martini and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, it did. The effort and quality of the ingredients placed into the creation was fabulous. Forget about checking out the No.1 restaurant just go for this. 30 October 2015 was our last night in Hobart, so I brought my two girlfriends to this highly raved restaurant just 5mins away from where we are staying Mayfair Plaza Motel. It was THE BEST meal we had by far our two weeks in Tassie. Love my Seafood Marinara pasta! Girlfriends love their Al Funghi pasta and Beef Cheek. We shared a "so-called surprise us pizza" but it's actually Avati, a prawns, bacon and olives pizza from the menu. A pity we only had this little stomach and we won't be back to try out the rest of the menu items. Till then....Thank you this amazing meal that round up our tassie trip!
