Loved it. Staff were professional, friendly & attentive. The coffee was so good and our meals fresh & tasty.
R. C.
Sitting on the balcony on a sunny day mid May, fantastic. The soup was the best, loved the complex flavours of the cucumber.
F. V.
The place is stunningly beautiful, very respectful staff, and highly professional. The pumpkin soup was the most delicious pumpkin soup I’ve ever had, and the fish and chips not only so tasty but beautifully served. Had a small talk with the owner, such a lovely humble lady. Highly recommend this place!
f. s.
The food presentation was amazing and the flavours were not too bad but what ever you do, don't get the open beef sandwich. It may look amazing but the beef isn't good at all.
R. K.
Great Food. I loved my Salad. Plenty of Parking, Great Park,
S. S.
Pretty outlook over the gardens but the $9 milkshake wasn't cold nor sufficient in size. They need to rethink their inflexibility around not allowing customers to add an additional scone to the Devonshire tea - not great business practice! Just OK.

Coffee was awesome, best coffee in the town. Our children also love the bear art so much, it made our day. Strongly recommend this place.
R. K.
Fantastic! There was a good range of food from the plain to the exotic and a good kids menu range. The portion sizes were huge as well! Recommend the korean chicken although it was very spicy and if they have creamy pumpkin soup as the days special soup you MUST get it - it was amazing. Brisket was slow cooked and tender. The vegetarian quinoa burger was great too. Overall i don’t think you could find anything bad food wise, and the seating is spectacular if you can land a seat on the balcony overlooking the gardens.

As interstate travellers we had a fantastic experience having both our wedding ceremony and reception in the Hobart Botanical Gardens (reception at Succulent).
With the obvious convenience of the restaurants proximity within the gardens aside we found the service, package and pricing to be exceptional. The communication with the owner/manager was fantastic, super easy and flexible with our requests accepting delivery of items in advance of our event.
Our cocktail canapé package was very well priced, the food was fresh and delicious and all of our guests left feeling VERY VERY well fed, there was just so much of it! The options for canapes were extensive and catered for various dietary requirements, the vegetarian options were great and enjoyed by all. A great more social alternative to your typical seated dinner arrangement which was exactly what we were were looking for.
Our Tasmanian drinks package was great value and the wait staff were very friendly and attentive, the drinks were fast and free flowing running the entire duration of our event and at the per head pricing of the package represented absolutely outstanding value.
The venue was child friendly with our entourage of boisterous 2 - 8year olds having an absolute blast of a time with their 'adventures' well tolerated by the Succulent staff. Felt well looked after in a high quality stress free environment.
The river view room was very functional with a simple plug and play powered speaker setup allowing connection to a smart phone for music streaming. As its name suggests it has panoramaic water views of the river side of the gardens, with sunset at approx 9pm we enjoyed them for a large portion of the evening. Shout out to Ginny and her team for making our big day that much more special and providing the necessary cables for our music setup.
I don't plan on getting married again but if you are ever exploring options or event locations in the area the Hobart Botanical Gardens are STUNNING, so many separate and unique areas that can be booked for your ceremony (that put QLD to shame, yeah yeah.. septate climates aside) and a great option onsite for a reception to boot. Definitely highly recommend - can't see how you could be disappointed.

Drinks can be better as flavour was a bit bland but food and service was fantastic. Kitchen even made a little special boiled egg for our little one.
J. L.
Had hot drinks here after a walk around the gardens. Very nice, and great to get a seat out on the verandah on a fine day.
J. O.
Nice ambience, bright and great food. Ordered a cooked to 12-hour pull beef with foccasia with garden herbs. Very tasty and good and unable to finish the bread due to big portion. Pricey but nice.
One would think that the above comes with great service. It's a total mismatch. The staff seemed to pay attention to big spenders. When restaurant is busy, staff seemed less friendly and more performance oriented to get the job done. Seemed that they got stressed easily when the crowd started coming in. Perhaps they were used to lesser people. Regrettably this makes the dining experience not very memorable. Other than that, it's a nice place to have a meal.

Beautiful environment and delicious food. Very generous portion.

Was happy with the friendly service. Pleasant location elevated above the gardens. Food presented was good as was the coffees.
S. R.
Beautiful views, fantastic service and lovely food. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience which was topped off with a wander around the gorgeous gardens, made all the better by the great weather (winter but a lovely clear sunny day)

Enjoyed a really lovely lunch here yesterday, when having a day out visiting the Botanical Gardens. Both meals were excellent (Battered Flathead, Garden Salad with chicken breast), with superb house-made Tartare Sauce, salad dressing, and some lightly pickled ingredients in the salad. Non-alcoholic wines on the drinks list was a very nice surprise. Finished with a beautiful dessert of Lavender Icecream, fruit compote and crunchy crumbs .. the flavours blended together beautifully. Beautiful, picturesque spot on the balcony with attentive staff.

Beautiful location. Have healthy food and the waitresses are always friendly

After reading numerous reviews we were apprehensive about going to this restaurant but we were never ones to let others influnence our personal opinions.
We visited the restaurant on the 06.02.2017 and was totally blown away with the effecient and friendly service. We were greeted by the Supervisor on the entry and was taken to a table of 4 on the balcony. The view was magnificent.
Water was promptly served to us by our waiter who proves to be a real gem durng our visit. His service was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble.
The food was a tribute to the gardens with its fresh produce and botanical theme garnishes. I ordered the yellow fin tuna salad. The tuna was cooked perfectly rare on a well season salad with a selection of fresh tomatoes from the gardens vegetable patch.
One of my gluten free friends had a Zucchini stack which looks as good as it taste.
My husband had the steak sandwich. the slowed cooked scotch fillet melts in your mouth.
another frined had the omellete and said best omellette she ever had - light anf fluffy.
We shared 2 cakes for dessert and coffee. House made baked berry cheesecake and housemade gluten free Orange and Almond cake.
Great coffe and beutiful cakes.
The Espresso Martini and Sangria went down really well. The guys had locally crafted beers. Great wine and drinks list.
Great restaurant and I recommend this restaurant.
Thanks for a great day at the Gardens, Succulent team.

Nice customer service and terrific coffee.

Beautiful view of the gardens, bridge and Derwent River while you relax with wine, and a meal from the award winning gardens.
B. Y.
Lovely Thom Yum Soup and Egyptian Eggs, Beautiful setting in the gardens. Slightly pricey but good service.
J. L.
The salad was delicious and so was the soup. Great choices and lovely views.

Great location, obliging staff, average coffee, terrific scones.

Fantastic food. Great view from the deck. Reasonable service. A little pricey. Overall a great experience.
Y. C.
Nice food and view!
R. E.
Good stop for a quick lunch while wondering the gardens. Excellent friendly service.
J. H. (.
Delicious well presented food and good friendly service - better than a lot of places we've dined at. More food choices on the menu would have been good and they'd run out of some drinks. However the views are super, of the gardens and the river. Altogether a great experience.
A. J.
What a beautiful place to have a cup of coffee with a freshly baked scone or choose something from a very interesting menus. To be honest I was not going to eat but was dying for a good shot of cofeine. We were met by very friendly waitress Phobe who offered us famouse freshly baked scones 🤣😂 well, there goes my weight loss program...loved it and highly recommend!
A.
Very nice location, I love going here for coffee and looking into the gardens. The food is starting to get overpriced for what you get.
Y. S.
A restaurant within the Botanical Gardens it is ideal for those Devonshire teas and scones. They also serve lunches, staff are very pleasant, seating is inside or outside with gorgeous views.
P. G.
Fast service and the guy was so lovely and friendly in the takeaway section.
J.
Takeaway section not great. Old yucky tables near counter, just not a visually pleasing area considering how nice the rest of the the gardens are. Hot chips okays. Inside the restaurant looks nice.
K. C.
Absolutely excellent service ! . On top of that the food servings were deserving of royalty in both size and quality. You usually expect elaborate food to be too little and we were worried about the prices but I haven’t eaten so much of such well crafted food before. Truly recomend
D. J.
Went for lunch at this restaurant i had the salmon served on a bed of salad was cooked beautifully my husband ordered the venison pie with salad and chips not something he would normally get but was surprised at how good it was. The service from the staff was very good. Will be back soon, might come in on a friday night and check out the tapas evening in the gardens sounds good.
T. B.
Attended private buffet for nephews graduation last night. The food was absolutely delicious, wide variety of dishes, both hot and cold. Wonderful friendly service. Good food, beautiful setting and loved family and friends made it a very memorable evening! Thank you.
K. S.
Lovely restaurant in Hobart botanical gardens, beautiful views.
K. R.
Really easy booking and rebooking service. Restaurant ambience was absolutely gorgeous, as it overlooks the Botanical Gatdens. Food is delicious and portions are big. They also have a food selection of wines. Service is impeccable. Will be back.
E. M.
Lovely place for catch up, great atmosphere and staff were very accommodating to or lager mum's group which included a young child and a baby. Devonshire tea was amazing, nothing better then fresh scones and homemade jam and a generous server of fresh cream. Will definitely be back again we are very keen to try friday night tapas
H. M.
Absolutely fantastic venue. Staff extremely professional and friendly. Top class coffee and menu in general. Clean amenities. Beautiful views of the garden. Worthwhile to visit.
N. N.
Eh. The food wasn't particularly appetising so we didn't order any. We had coffee which was a bit burnt and my wife asked for a diet coke and was given pepsi (they had both)
They could dramatically improve this place by hiring better wait staff, better cooks and rewriting the menu to sound more appealing.
f. g.
Made the mistake of not looking at google first and ordered the burgers. Wouldn't say they are worth the money. Besides that the place was nice but we did wait quite a long time for our coffee and food.
K. N.
Service was great and the Italian cake was even better
B. A.
Such a spectacular restaurant. Beautiful presentation of seriously delicious food. The staff were also super lovely.
J. M.
Nestled in the Hobart botanical gardens, this place is nicely furnished and had a decor that nicely complements the surrounding nature. Staff are friendly and attentive and the food is delicious and they garnish their dishes with fresh edible flowers and herbs - which is a lovely touch. We went here for our EOY staff meeting and would highly recommend for similar functions or even just sharing a meal with close friends or family in a lovely, comforting setting.

Friendly and helpful staff with views of the gardens
A.
At first I must agree with the other one star comments at this price point service NEEDS a smile and we were let down at first. However the manager Micheal I think spotted this and swooped in to save the experience with such swiftness, and a calm intrigued demeanour that we will come back again. Ask for a pickled walnut off one of the trees or pick a native blueberry while you enjoy a wonderful moscato. Thanks Micheal we will be back now. If this guy stays in charge ;)

Excellent food and service. Great location too, stroll around the botanical gardens to walk off the great food
K. C.
Great place, lovely staff, but why does an iced coffee without cream cost so much more ($8) than either a normal coffee or a milkshake
D. B.
Excellent view sitting outside! Don’t miss the fresh scones with fresh jam ! Absolutely drooling 🤤😍

(Translated) The food arrangement is very characteristic of the botanical garden. It is also a good choice to find a good weather and have a brunch here with family and friends, and then take a leisurely walk in the botanical garden
