I don’t usually post unless I hate the place or love it but this place is a hidden gem! The restaurant is such good value! Each dish we ordered was so tasty! We couldn’t fault it. Have been back again and is now our go to Indian restaurant. We used to go to Other places to have authentic Indian but now have found a much closer local place :)

This is one place where you get to experience the perfect Indian food taste with great customer service. The food we ordered was full of flavour, especially the boneless goat curry was one of its kind. Every curry had a different flavour and didn’t feel like everything was cooked in one single pan , like most of the Indian food joints do these days. I recommend to try at least once and then you will make your way every week anyway. Tried this place tonight after being recommended by someone, best decision ever. Lamb Korma Addition to the Garlic Naan which not only looked good but tasted awesome too. Wawaweewah what a ride!!!! Curry after curry, the grooviest graviest grandest delicious desi dream in town. Vindaloo, hot but not light on the vinegar, which is so promising. The korma was authentic and tender, clearly cooked with love. The rest was fluffy and light whilst still maintaining a level of distinction between curries. Sometimes with Indian restaurants in Australia it's clear they are using the same base and just garnishing (or should I say: ganesh-ing) the curry differently. But Team Saffron, don't take you for an fool. They make indian food that Indians love. Very very impressed.

Location, service, ambience and taste. Saffron Indian restaurant ticks all the boxes for a good Indian dinner. The food is finger licking good and absolutely delicious. Service is excellent even though most of the time the are only 3 servers in duty. On a quick look around, I think that the restaurant can accommodate about 80 patrons at the same time. Pro-tip: Good food takes time to arrive. So avoid going right at peak times. What to order: Anything you like. My favorites are Daal Makhani, chicken curry and Lamb Biryani. Paneer Saagwala (spinach cottage cheese curry) is fantastic. I would love to try their Goat curry too. Verdict: one of the best Indian restaurants in Hobart.

Home away from home. The chilly indicator do mean something and what a delicious Mint chicken indeed. The naan bread were perfectly cooked and soft. If you are out on a date or say visiting Hobart and want some good quality indian food then I would definitely recommend this place. Customer service is excellent too.

Interior - 💯 Plating - Not as expected Food - the female who took our order didn't tell us that Paneer Kadhai and Veg Jalfrezi would be the same/similar gravy. Also, one doesn't want green chilli pieces in the curry coz it ruins the whole taste leaving the tongue burnt. The male who supposedly looked like the manager was kind enough to not charge us for the lamb curry that one of my friends ordered as we didn't like it. The naans could have been a little more well done :(

After googling best Indian restaurants in Hobart, this place was one of the restaurants that was recommended. My partner ordered the beef vindaloo. He liked his dish but would have preferred fresh chillies, not powered. I ordered the prawn Punjab masala. My dish was spicy with a decent amount of prawns. But the size of the dish appeared small for the price. We also ordered the plain Naan, garlic naan and cheese and garlic naan. The cheese and garlic and the garlic naan definitely needed more garlic, as you could barely taste it. Other than that it was good.

I ‘ve been to Restaurant with my friend and the hospitality is just so great , very nice food ( Authentic Indian ) , I had malai kofta and most of restaurants make it on sweeter side and if you are indian , you know thats not how u would like it but they served me perfectly well on the savoury side. The Saffron Waterfront Restaurant is easy to reach from the CBD and the food is reasonably priced. We are vegetarian so we chose the Coconut Curry and Chana Masala. Both dishes were delicious and the spice level was perfect.

We have eaten at many Indian restaurants all over the world as it is one of our favourite cuisines , and Saffron is one of the best for flavour . Decor and atmosphere were good but where this restaurant shines is the food and that’s what matters . We had tandoori chicken and lamb bhuton which we paired with saffron rice , garlic bread and chilli pickles , my taste buds are still singing . The flavour sensation will leave me talking about this restaurant for a while . Service was excellent , again well above the norm . Well done Saffron for truly making this a flavour feast for us .

I wish there was a 6 star option for Saffron Indian Restaurant! Following an awards event at Henry Jones Art Hotel on Saturday night I was part of a group of 10 friends who had overlooked making a booking for an evening meal. It was around 8.45pm by the time we left the event and after being turned away by two other establishments (big mistake!) we were welcomed with open smiles by the beautiful team at Saffron. The restaurant was near empty as the staff were packing up after dinner service but without hesitation a table was quickly pulled together, a banquet menu was ordered and the Janz flowed. The level of service offered here was absolutely exemplary with every request being met and delicious food being offered. The biggest regret we had was not being able to take away the left overs of the amazing food. This experience was one which reminded me what the true definition of the word hospitality means. Just superb.

I have been going to Saffron for many years and have always enjoyed the food and the exceptional service. It was my daughter's 5th birthday tonight and the lovely owners played her the bday song over the speakers, lit sparkers and gave her and my whole family dessert to celebrate. Probably the best indiam restaurant in Hobart. Even better than the ones in Melbourne I reckon,coming from a Melburnian myself. Cheese naan is amazing. All curries are nice. Friendly service. Probably one tiny thing if I had to point out would be a bit too much cardamom in some things that it kind of overpowers,, hubby is sensitive to cardamom. I didn't find it too bad but I did notice it. Apart from this tiny thing, it's pretty good!!

Very surprised to see negative comments. I had food here numerous times and was never disappointed. Recently we visited this place with family, I had Goat Curry, my son had samosas which he loved as he use to in India, wife had Methi chicken which was a great winner and followed by a very delicious mango kulfi. Sometimes there is bit of a delay but that is for generous reasons. It is natural to have a little delay for such a busy place and I think that tells a lot......but all worth the wait guys!!

Not all restaurants are open on a Sunday night in Hobart but the Saffron is open 7 nights of the week so we knew we were OK. Lots of people in Hobart for Dark Mofo but we didn't want to eat with the crowds at the Winter Feast. Arrived early (6pm) and there were a few people eating already. Prompt drinks service followed by our orders being taken. Food arrived after about 10 minutes and what a joy that was. The Naan was delicious - obviously freshly cooked and soft. The curries were excellent - large servings with saffron coloured rice. With Indian beer on tap and 3 types of lassi drink my partner and I were very happy. Can recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Malabar and Peshawari Naan bread.
