Exceptional service in a stunning environment. The food was above expectation with good potions and clever flavour combinations. I also appreciated the extensive extended wine list with some great finds in there. The young Irish sommelier has good wine knowledge so make sure you ask for help if needed.

Amazing dining experience with exceptional food. Very happy we were able to get a booking and dine here. Some of the best food we ate in Hobart with great portion sizes. Would come back just to have the Linguini again!

We loved the degustation menu and really enjoye the food and service here.

Revisited The Source, again.
Firstly, the menu, creative is an understatement, an innovative & descriptive menu. Presentation & service, all, to be highly commended.
Love the quality menu choices. My friend & I sat outside, the weather was kind, the music, entertaining & the scenery, captivating!!

Source was not only the best meal we had in Tasmania, but also a wonderful addition to the sensory experience of MONA.
The fun starts before you’ve even taken your seat, entering the restaurant through an illuminated tunnel that challenges your senses, and requires a warning about accidentally stepping off the path.
Inside it’s a big, light filled space with views of the river, and even before the food arrives, there’s a band entering with a crazy mix of sounds, melodies and instruments.
But this is just a warm up for the incredible food – superbly presented and prepared dishes that will be one of the best meals you have in Tasmania.
We didn’t do the special meal, or pay the extra for the additional artistic experience, so can’t comment on its worth.
But the food, the service, and the show made this a highlight of our wonderful day at MONA.

Very nice.. service was excellent. The food was what one would expect from a place like this. No gushing . from me sorry it was as it should have been very nice setting, good food with excellent service .
Would not hurry back. But if you re going to MONA. make it part of the experience

Can't fault this place. The chef actually extended the kitchen opening to feed us. The ambiance was relaxing and beautifully set up. The staff were welcoming and warm. The dishes we tried were scrumptious and came pretty quickly.

It was our first visit at this restaurant and we were served a 2 course meal with matching wine. The food was excellent from entree to dessert as well as the wine. The staff there are friendly, accommodative and clearly know about the details of the food and wine. The price is very reasonable. The atmosphere is modern and a good place to enjoy the dinner. I will be back again and I highly recommend going there. It was a wonderful experience.

A venue attached to a icon, that is stand alone fantastic. Service was exceptional, knowledgeable and insightful. The food was modern, local and delicious. The wine list was a book of exceptional wine from around the world. Finish a phenomenal day at MONA and allow plenty of time in its signature restaurant. The Source

Situated within the MONA grounds, this restaurant have an amazing view overlooking Tasmania and the river. A lot was put into the decor of this restaurant, each table have it's own decorations under the table glass. On the outside you have what they called live tables which have green plant on it! Foodwise I have to say they're really good except for the seafood hotpot. The dish was really bland. I would highly recommend the roasted eggplant, it has a mix of flavours that makes it so interesting!

Amazing quirky restaurant. Beautifully presented to reflect the quirky modern art museum it forms part of.
The tables were all pieces of art themselves but get the outdoor tables on the verandah if you can. They are so unique, with a living garden built into your table top. I've never been to fine dining that features the local fauna. During our dessert a bee came to pollinate our garden tablr and a small bird landed near us to chirp to it's friends.
The staff there of course are very friendly and welcoming, eager to explain their Al a carte menu. Food was very good although we wished the massaman curry was beef instead of vegetarian. The beef tartare was also semi-cooked which I thought was odd as it's usually served raw. Other than that all other dishes were fantastic, from our tostade to our dessert everything was very impressive.
Overall great experience, although quite pricey it's definitely worth a visit if you are in Tasmania!

One of the best dining experiences you can have in Australia. Warm hospitality, brilliant service and better wines. Thank you to Rhys, Al, and the very polite English chap, Aaron, who made our MONA experience second to none.
A. C.
We took the tasting menu. We enjoyed the seafood, although we were puzzled about the scallop and chicken combination. Good selection of wines. We didn't like to eat 3 different dishes in the same plate.

Some of the best food on our trip to Hobart. Beautifully designed restaurant with quirks you’d except at MONA. Attentive but unobtrusive service, just what you want. The food was also delicious and well balanced. A lovely dining experience.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. Setting is very pretty, though there was a loud, raucous 18th birthday going on downstairs which seemed a bit odd. The service was spot on, food was divine, and the wine/beer list extensive beyond belief. However throughout the night we could hear the party downstairs on and off, and it did impact on the atmosphere in the restaurant. Overall great, just unfortunate timing with the party downstairs

For the famished museum-goer or the enthusiastic foodie, The Source at MONA is worth searching out. It's nondescript upstairs location on the grounds makes it easy to miss for the casual observer, but provides a fantastic view of the grounds and the bay it overlooks. Well designed menu--dishes pictured (and recommended) are the olives, scallops, wallaby, asparagus souffle, and black trevally pesto rissotto. Don't forget to order the chocolate truffles for dessert.
C.
Outstanding location and views, food is irréprochable had two veg entrées which were creative complex and balanced in flavours and textures, the wallaby pie was intense in flavours and a great winter dish washed down with a 2016 moorilla Pinot noir - outstanding service and overall a great experience

We visited MONA as soon as the doors opened 10am, went through half the exhibition and decided it's time for lunch (there's just so much to see!!). We tasted some wines at the Cella Door just before so we could have our favs from the Moorilla estate with lunch.
The Source is fine dining in a relaxed and welcoming way. The staff were friendly and food delicious. We ordered an entree, two mains and a desert to share - and I'm glad we did. Content with the food and experience, we headed back into MONA to complete the exhibition.

Classy and elegant restaurant situated within the Mona. Definitely something to do once in a life time. Food was Japanese inspired but distinctly Australian. Wine list was extensive but most were only available via the bottle.
P. G.
Had a fantastic experience here. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the whole meal. Food was really well cooked and worth the price. Very stylish layout. Huge wine selection. Again, super friendly staff who made the whole experience a great pleasure.
M. P.
The view is amazing at this restaurant and the food was very delicious. I would recommend lunch here while spending a full day the MONA. Please like if you would like to go here. Make a booking soon.

my third time there yesterday and brought my vegetarian boyfriend because i love it so much. the room is so beautiful with a great view and design.
we were really grumpy and tired from travel but i really love this restaurant and it cheered us both up. the staff are always super lovely and the food always amazing. we had a bit of a feast and a couple of lovely cocktails. set us right really. thanks so much source team!
R.
Everything was great, the waiter, service, food and wine. Top it off with a great view and unique little touches at each table, you have a winning formula
C. C.
Outstanding...... Service, food, wine, view all very well done. Portions could have been a bit more generous but everything was just done very well. This was a highlight of Tassie food.
R. K.
Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, and really interesting menu. Tried the veal tartare, scallops and fried chicken, and wallabee steak. All amazing!
A. T.
Hey, how ya going? We ordered the Candy Carrots, Cauliflower and Paris Mash. Each dish was very well put together and full of flavour. As a light lunch, this was very filling for 2 people. All round, it was an excellent dining experience.
T.
Amazing food, fresh local produce and delicious, great staff and a huge range of drinks. Had three plates to share and enjoyed all of them.
T. Q.
Great lunch, fantastic food in a wonderful setting the outside loving tables also looked great.
B. M.
These guys present food that is another work of art at MONA. If you're into your food, come here, spend all of your money. You'll remember a fine dining experience such as this for many years. We had the King Fish, Pork and Venison, Crab Salad and some extraordinary cheese and wine. Haven't had better and have been all around the world.
C. B.
Went here with a group after a day at the museum. It was great. The food was substantial and of a fun modern style, the wait staff were really wonderful, adding a personal touch to the service. The wine list is so long! We enjoyed a few bottles of delicious wine. We had the 4 course chefs selection menu and I would recommend it as a great way to see the range.
P. K.
Really interesting and delicious food. Particularly the eggplant and the wallaby. But all six of us enjoyed our meal. The food that i didnt find tasty (the tartare) was interesting enough to be enjoyable.
Our initial server was a bad introduction to the restaurant, with a condescending attitude and general disdain for either us or his job. The second waiter was much nicer so it may be hit and miss.
Dont bother buying a wine at the tasting station to bring in. No corkage for their own wine.
W. A.
Mains are tiny as entree.
please look at their menu before you go and order. We were suggested that the last 4 course on the menu are main and the ones above are entrees. so we ordered 2 mains and they appear as small as a entree for around $44 dollars.
B. W.
As a very picky diner, I consider this the BEST restaurant I've eaten in,in Tasmania.
Absolutely divine food,excellent service.🙏🙏🙏🙏

Exceptional dining experience. We travelled via the MONA Roma ferry in the Posh Pit which was a treat. We arrived to hordes of people waiting to come back and as we were the only ones alighting, many thought we were A list celebrities.
The staff at The Source were excellent and very helpful and knowledgeable. We had 4 courses all of which were Michelin Star quality in my opinion. Much wine was had but our budget didn't extend to the $46000 bottle of red on the wine list.
Thoroughly recommend going. We will be back.
D. C.
Amazing food, view and service. Cost us around $80 each for 3 courses and a drink each. We walked up from the bottom as we heard parking can be an issue. It was a pretty walk up hill although for elderly it might be too difficult. You'd have to drop the nans off at the top. The restaurant is behind other buildings
D. Z.
The restaurant was a great way to cap off our visit to Mona with. The elevated dining room provided a much needed respite from the hoards making their away around the museum below. Everything we had off the menu was great, we knew that standard when we walked in the door. Stand outs were the tostsdas, which were great introductions to a delightful long lunch.
A. B.
Excellent food, lovely setting very helpful staff. We had to catch our ferry back and the team rushed through our order so we could enjoy their amazing food. May not have the views of Faro but the setting is lovely
L. M.
We were greeted by a lovely irish lady who made us feel most welcome. We were seated on a table by the window with fantastic views, the interior was classy and exceptionally presented. From the amazing charcuterie entree with cheese to the beautifully cooked quail and finally the ginger parfait dessert matched with perfect wines from the vineyard next door. The staff were very professional and knowledgeable and this is not one to miss for foodies and those wanting to treat themselves.
C. B.
Was very cheerful with our dining experience. The food was timely, cooked beautifully and very filling. Atmosphere was relaxing yet colourful and The team were so approachable and accommodating.
A. C.
What a great place to dine, friendly proffessional staff (Alistair)..food an absolute delight...will certainly return.Thank You....
R. G.
Sensational place for lunch. Went to the museum and then followed by lunch. The food was sensational and good value wine to match.
Scallops and fried chicken works well and the dessert was layered and each bite was a different experience
B. M.
A really good breakfast option pre 10am MONA opening time. Coffee was of a really high standard... if you're from Melbourne it was up there with St Ali or Seven Seeds. Had to have a second.
Big breakfast was good. Pork cheek was excellent. Poached eggs almost right - one nice and runny, one solid.
M. B.
Excellent food - great combinations of flavours. Very attentive service. View more impressive at dusk rather than night. Lack of food menu is a little weird- would prefer to know what's coming. We went for the 9 course degustation and to be honest it was a little too much - and we're mid 30s fit guys. Breakfast also excellent.
P. R.
OMG!!!! If you thought MONA was good, wail until you experience The Source. Magnificent food ( we did the tasting menu) , extraordinary wines and terrific service and views. A " must do" when you visit Hobart.
H. P.
Gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows frame beautiful food. The service was almost lightning quick and the food was good. Some of the items on the menu are a little vague in description, but for a restaurant like The Source, the evening comes in a complete package and this restaurant delivers that in spades.
K. G.
Beyond any expectation. Just perfect flavours, original and so clever!
D. P.
Lovely service, great food with fresh ingredients, and a wonderful outlook. If you can, book a table on the verandah and you get to eat off tables with grass tabletops. They looked like fun.

Excellent food, view and service. Best meal in Australia we have had. It’s just so much better than anything in Tasmania or Hobart too. Absolutely recommend. Worth every penny.

We wanted to celebrate a special occasion. Well there was only 'degustation' on offer that evening explained by a young man who seemed to do nothing else than talk to fellow diners. The problem was, his accent was so heavy we couldnt understand him fully. We supposed the French have a reputation for haute cuisine and he was there to make us feel this meal is going to be French - hmm was this a hint that this restaurant is about image?
Well, as he said, no menu and the food came at the discretion of the chef. He did not say 'bon chance', but he might as well have. The entree was very nice. The main? Well it consisted of two small pieces of delicious meat bridged by some roasted shallots and a light sauce. And bon chance indeed, my wife received a nice chocolate mousse pie (the best she ever had) and I got a small bowl of cherries in a nice sauce.
Cost? $70.
There was also a flamboyant waiter in jeans promoting wines that ranged from about $16 a glass.
It comes down to value but this restaurant is all about image - we came for a meal.
S. D.
Beautifully designed. Every table in the restaurant is unique with different items under the glass. Extensive wine list, food is great with a 180 degree water view.
P. F.
Sublime. Food is superb and space, views and ambience perfect. Half the space was Walshy and his mates when we dined on Derby Day which was a people watching bonanza! Bras are an outer garment? Who knew?
K. S.
Truly delicious dining experience. Service and setting perfect. Would highly recommend The Source as a great way to finish a visit to MONA.
I. M.
Food outstanding, menu not entirely accurate (smoked mussels was actually a few dots of mussel mousse). The place is very nice, service was slow which our waiter acknowledged
I. L.
Great view all around with floor to ceiling. Nice place to relax and continue the MONA experience. Accessible via ferry or bus. Lovely presentation of good and great tasting. Service was a bit slow though.
D. M. A.
The best 9 course degustation menu with accompanying wine that I've ever had. They had Portuguese port wine 'Quinta do Noval' to go with dessert. Divine!
P. H.
Sensational food, service & venue. Normally restaurants within galleries and museums are a little second rate but The Source was faultless. Certainly not a cheap eat but prices are inline with the quality.
M. S.
Degustation lunch with matched wines was a dining experience of the highest quality. Service was friendly but polished and professional and the food was stunning. Highly recommended
N. K.
Absolutely amazing spot to eat. Wine selection is glorious and food was amazing. Highly recommend taking the time to have a long boozy lunch here.
E. T.
Couldn't speak any higher of this place, 5 stars will have to suffice
R. v. B.
The food was pretty ok for an ok price. The dish looked very special but the taste was not that special. I did not like the staff, they seemed a bit arrogant.
J. N.
I wouldn't normally venture to places like Mona, so when I realised there was a restaurant upstairs, it was my alternative to lining up to get in the museum. I would come back to Mona again just to eat here.
S. S.
Love this place. We are QLD residencies and come here everytime we are in Hobart. I never have anything bad to say
K. F.
Great food and great service. Special shout out to our waiter, Aaron 👏🏻
g.
Superb food, every dish a winner- complex and surprising. Fabulous service and lunch here is great way to break up a full days visit to the staggering achievement that is MONA
T. L.
I communicated the importance of our very special lunch in advance. We were looked after so well by the floor team. They went above and beyond! Thanks again!
K. S.
