Great ambience and service. Couldn't decide on what to eat and was recommended to some fantastically delicious food. Definitely will return to try the other food when we return to Melbourne. Good to call ahead to check/reserve a table because it was packed with people.

Really delicious, relatively authentic Italian foods. Very nice thin base, perfect chewy crusts. Pasta dishes very simple and quite small but very nice. Side of green beans wash delicious! Service a bit slow, but considering they were very busy you understand, management tried to make up for slow wait staff service... quite expensive, but no more so than most higher end Italian restaurants...

400 Gradi. Renowned for amazing Napoli pizza, we trust it to reliably deliver the quality and restraint of authentic Italian cuisine. But wait, three stars for Essendon? Why? We ordered pizza tonight for pick-up - no delivery available via the usual sites, informed when I called to clarify that apparently they were too busy for delivery ... but not too busy for pick-up via driving up to the store and having the pizza brought out to me. Ok, so we order pizza as offered, to be brought out to our car. Great, not too busy to have it available for pick up in 20 minutes. Pizza ordered, we receive the message: " Park in our drive up carpark, and we'll bring your food." I arrive and wonder, where is this drive up carpark? Is it just outside the store? No signage to make it clear. So I call the accompanying number for questions and am told that the drive-up service isn't available tonight. Ok, well that's not what the website instructed, so here I am sitting outside the store 10 minutes after pick-up due, told that I need to go in. I go in, place doesn't look that busy, but can only see 1 guy coordinating the house, I'm in line waiting for my food, finally get his attention and he responds with some very cranky attitude not sure if he's annoyed with me or his employer - and tells me to wait outside in my car on the street, like I should have known ... rather than be confused by conflicting advice. Hmmm I wonder where I should have parked if there'd been no spaces outside. Anyway, get home, open up the Caserta. Look at the accompanying picture. One is the professional shot, generously covered in prosciutto, soooo covered in cured meat, so tempting we couldn't resist. The other picture is what arrived - most of the red you see is sauce, adorned by 3 and a half pieces of prosciutto. Lame. So disappointing. Is this what happens when a venue becomes a chain? Yep, it often is.

This place always delivers! I recently tried the one at crown, and was blown away by the quality and great tasting food. I tried a paste dish this time, out of this world, it was a creamy mixed mushroom dish. Their gelato was pretty good as well, perfect texture and consistency, the passion fruit is made with yoghurt, so it tastes creamy.

Fantastic service by the wait staff, glasses always fillled when empty. Delicious food compliments to the chef's and the birthday cake was delicious. Great job by all and the fantastic service provided by Maria for the booking and the night went off without a hitch. Will be definitely back whether for an intimate dinner or party booking.

Worth the trip down to Melbourne. We ate at the Essendon/Niddrie Restaurant. Service was good. Staff were friendly and attentive. Pizza was cooked in traditional way. My other half had a traditional margarita pizza and I had a go at the world record cheese pizza. All in all a lovely experience and would dine there again. Keen to try the other 400 Gradi locations in the future!

Good food. Warm people. Bit pricey but we thought it was worth it. They are known for their margherita pizza and nutella calzone but the other pizzas and desserts are also great. In picture (front to back): pear tart, white chocolate mousse, and nutella calzone.

It was good but nothing special. Staff were courteous and nice, we did not have to wait long for drinks but the water was not refilled in the 2 hours we were there. We ordered the $45 meat and cheese platter for an entree, the meat was plentiful but the amount of cheese prompted comments, about 8 small pieces in total, which at about $22 was very poor. As the pizza is a signature dish we all thought we would give it a try. Mine was nice but the base was a bit soggy in the middle, not a big deal. I noticed a friends Margarita looked quite soggy, which she confirmed was the case, the other two had no complaints about soggy pizza. All four of us agreed it was nice, but not a place we would rush back to.

This place was hyped up for me as the BEST pizzaria. Now, i didnt think it was all that (taste), however the restaurant itself is STUNNING, it has a very sophisticated feel to it but also quite cozy. The staff are very polite and the doorman was very inviting, professional and had a bubbly Italian authenticity. Food was ready in a decent time but it was not as impressive as it was hyped up to be. Suggest coming with a large group to enjoy all range of flavoured pizzas!

Went to 400 Gradi in Essendon for the first time to celebrate my birthday! The restaurant has an awesome vibe and lucky for us is family friendly. Not only did we thoroughly enjoy our food but the waiter was super friendly and eager to get the ball rollin to ensure our 2 year old was fed and happy even if we weren’t quite ready to order ourselves. This is something we truly appreciated! Our boy was enjoying spaghetti while we took our time looking through menu. We’ve never had a waiter do this for us. We’re usually the ones trying to hurry things along so our little isn’t waiting too long to be fed. Will definitely be going there again :)

Today I ordered 3 pizzas, and they made me a pizza catered to my tastes that wasn't on the menu. I also ordered a soft drink which I forgot to remind them about so I called them to let them know and then we arranged that they'll give me free ice cream later instead of me having to come back for the drink and making my pizza cold. I was only expecting one scoop in a cup but the man was so generous he gave me an entire tub for FREE. It was honestly my mistake on the drink, yet they compensated me, overcompensated me. The pizza was hot and 12/10 too. Highly recommend 400 gradi. Most places that expand have the quality suffer, but in 400 gradi's case this has not happened. 5 stars

The staff was lovely when we went, she basically knew the menu and their dietary limits. I ordered a margherita pizza and they had vegan cheese as an option so that is always a bonus. Pizza tasted fabulous!!! Loved the texture of the crust and base. Also ordered a mango gelato (also vegan) and it was so creamy and yummy! Recommend!

It's good service if I count tablespoons maybe 8 tablespoons of risotto on a plate when you consider rice and pasta isvery cheap, for a glass of house wine $14, I think it's a bit too much, risotto $35 with mushroom and herbs, no chicken or other type of maybe seafood is very difficult to park for Saturday night .food was tasty nice, I don't think I will go back again 4 people cost us $188 one beer two glasses of wine and one soft drink .hope management consider the amount of food is worth it thank you 400 Gradi- Essendon

I just moved to Essendon and this is my new go to restaurant! I had an amazing dinner last night. Luckily my partner booked a table because it was busy! The service was great though. I had the barramundi, cooked to perfection and very tasty, while my partner ordered the spaghetti with pesto and prawns... heaven! The manager suggested a beautiful Vermentino wine which complemented our meal so well. Great to see warm and knowledgeable staff. Keep it up.

We went for Father's Day lunch. Service was outstanding but one pizza came late. They were so apologetic they shouted the whole table a huge selection of desserts and the owner and the manager came to personally apologise. The restaurant is like an over size cafe. I feel it lacks atmosphere. It seems everything is a rush and plates are moved almost immediately.I find it rude as i had trouble having a conversation. Perhaps they count the turn over versus profit. Despite paying for such expensive meals versus portions,table water was as warm as the sun penetrating. Seating under a camera seem a little uncomfortable to my liking.Who knows if they recording voices as well. Although they have shade cloth type blinds,it was very uncomfortable to eat on the table we were given as the sun was blinding. There is no menu prices prior to attending.Perhaps there is a reason.They do not reply to questions on emails. Thank you for the birthday shots upon payment. Overall it was good, but not enough to justify the hype and buzz given to this place.

Service was quite slow last night. Was told they were a wait staff down, and weren't expecting the 70 people they had come in? Waited over an hour to get mains, received two meals that weren't ours (for people who had arrived after us) but could not get anyone's attention to tell them they were not ours. When I questioned one of the staff if we had been forgotten, she said no I was waiting for the antipasto dish to be finished (but had already served us two other meals??). Asked for more water and it was like it was too much effort and the waiter only filled up 2 out of four glasses (other two were half full). Also had to ask for Parmesan cheese for the 3 bowls of pasta we ordered - the first waiter didn't even bring it, the second waiter looked quite annoyed by this request! Food was OK - Disappointed as the one in Brunswick was so good.

The Venue Manager, Armando was fantastic from day one. Extremely accomadating to all my needs prior and on the day of the event. I hired out the entire restaurant for my sons 1st Birthday/Christening. The chefs, bar and wait staff were so smooth and fast you wouldn't even know they were feeding 120 guests. The waiter informed us it was an issue with the kitchen section that was doing the salads as they were backed up and we we could cancel if we wanted. I had my daughters 21st birthday party on Saturday 8th June at 400 Gradi in Essendon. Armando the restaurant manager was amazing. We told him exactly what we wanted and he accommodated for us perfectly. We all felt so welcomed by all the staff, as they were very polite, friendly and really set a good vibe. After hearing from my brother that 400 Gradi's claim to fame was a "Best Pizza" award, we decided to give it a go for my wife's birthday (6 adults, 2 kids and a baby). Firstly the food... YUMMMMMM... A twist on Italian classics as well as some of the best pizza we've ever had... I mean it, THE BEST PIZZA WE'VE EVER HAD... Secondly the service... We were so well looked after. Our host was accommodating, witty and a pleasure to chat with. Our wait staff were engaging and attentive. Let me just say this... Some of the reviews I read here were stating how long it took to get served or for the food to arrive. I will admit it wasn't the quickest I've experienced, but I will say this to those people: Going out to dinner is an experience. How about conversing with your friends and family rather than watching the timer on your phones? You want fast food? There's a KFC across the road... Thanks for a memorable night and see you again soon...

Function with the family. Only pizza we had was the margarita which I will say was delicious! But sadly it was the only pizza offered as part of a package the organiser ordered. And in family situations it’s best not to organise the organiser! If there’s an option to have more than one pizza variety, do that. It was a bit boring. This is always an amazing place for lunch or dinner. Pizzas are proper Italian pizzas, just like I've had in Napoli, Italy. Also great wine and cocktails. For this and many other reasons I've had my children's baptisms and other business and family functions here. This is an excellent place to have a function. Armando was so friendly and accommodating when picking our menu. They have a range of menu options to suit your function and budget. We had my youngest daughter's baptism there recently and I was so impressed with the service we received, in particular a young man named Thanh. Many of my guests were impressed with how attentive and accommodating he was. He constantly made sure we had everything we needed and wanted and the entire event ran so smoothly. My husband and I were so happy with the service as well as the food that came out. Everything we ate was delicious, from the margherita pizza to the gnocchi pomodoro and tagliatelle bolognese and more! 5 stars 400 Gradi Essendon, you made our event fantastic!

Well i normally do not do review as if i like a place i just keep going back , but today i’ll take an exception because Gradi in Essendon deserve one as they made us feel special. Saturday night , the restaurant was buzzing we walked in without booking at around 6.30pm, after a very bad day, we lost a dear friend and we were coming back from the funeral, the manager at the door told us that they where fully booked but we could have seat at the bar to wait till next table was available. While seating at the bar the barman offered us a drink and with in 5 minutes me and my partner , got served two spritz, we order some entree , arancini and crochet, very nice as well. While waiting at the bar, the manager organised a table for us, our waitress was a lovely french girl , i think Natalie was her name, her services was outstanding and the food was amazing, the all place is a vibrating venue with cool music, top food , nice and friendly staff and fantastic vibes. After the entree i order the lamb while my husband chiose the rib eye, and i have to say ... OMG it was amazing!!! To top it up one of the manager that come to check how everything was, offered us a complimentary shot of sambuca with a caffe bin to cheers us up once we told him from where we were coming. Thanks guys for making our day!!!! We will deftly be back!!!

Great! Excellent quality real Italian food. We spent $300 for two BUT we bought a good bottle of red, 4 top shelf cocktails, top shelf beer & prosecco. We also didn't hold back on the food, deliberately ordering too much to taste a few different things. Once you break it down it was good value for fantastic food. WILL be going back sooner than later. Great staff too, had a great chat at the end of the night, not to mention great service for the entire evening. Thanks guys 👍😁 Update.... Beautiful sunny day but met with "We dont have outside tables" which should have been "We're not serving outside tables right now". Semantics makes a huge difference. We could physically see the tables outside. They have won awards for food but if the customer service isn't up to par to their decor then it diminishes the entire experience hence 3 stars for food alone (past experience). We went 15m down the road to a cafe who got 5 stars from us.

I had only ever been to 400 gradi in Brunswick a while ago and this was the first time at the Keilor road restaurant. It was a Saturday night and the place was busy, the greeting at the door was very welcoming and we were quickly seated. The service was fine for a busy place on a Saturday. I got the Gradi pizza and in all honesty I was surprised by the how bland it was. I've had some great woodfired pizzas from various places lately and unfortunately on the night I went to 400 it wasn't great. Maybe it was just an off night. I'd still give it another go given my positive experiences in Brunswick over the years.

The best pizza in Melbourne, it's that simple. Food always comes out pretty fast and the staff are as efficient and you can get, without being pushy. There is a reason why their bhakois growing. Only downside has to be the limited parking options on Keilor Rd, but not much the restaurant can do about it.

One of the best authentic Italian woodfire pizza. However I would like to make a complaint about the very rude head waiter (I think he was, but he acts as if he is the boss of the place). My family and friends go to 400 Gradi frequently (both the essendon and Carlton branch). This particular individual shouldn't be in the service and hospitality industry if he has maleducato manners. Whoever owns the Essendon branch should reprimand this individual or even let him go. Really spoiled my night with my friends. Disgusting behaviour.

We ordered a btl of wine between 6 people and when the waitress poured it she didn't judge how much she was pouring and the last person got less than everyone else. Obviously we were going to order another btl but we never got the chance as we were not asked if we would like another drink later. The waitstaff grabbed glasses by the rims, unhygienic, and used the same chux to wipe the chairs down as the table tops in the restaurant. The place is quite loud and echoes a lot. Not very comfortable.
