Customer Service 5/5 I asked the lady behind a counter if they had any secret off the menu burgers. She kindly said not at this stage but recommended the GAUNTLET with avocado. We also ordered the 8BIT WITH CHEESE which for a cheese burger, it was pretty good. Cleanliness 5/5

This place used to have amazing burgers but lately it has been a hit and miss. We ordered gauntlet burgers with no bacon, chicken was over cooked and not much flavour. Tried their veggie burger and 8 Bit burger. While their 8 bit burger was quite delicious and the beef patty was very scrumptious, their Veggie Burger Patty made from Quinoa and Chickpeas was on the dry side. In my view the beef burger was amazing, but I wouldn't call it one of the best in Melbourne. Their peanut butter shake was quite nice too! Service was pretty quick.Overall, a decent experience.

We tried this place yesterday. Ordered the Altered Beast & the Double Dragon burgers with add-on of Onion Rings. The burgers were tasty but lacking in sauce. The add-on is not good value as they charge $7.50 for just about 5 onion rings & a can of coke. The onion rings were quite oily as well. The staff were friendly & welcoming. Overall, an average place.

I ventured out to the Footscray store after discovering that the CBD one was temporarily closed. I used a care package voucher I purchased through Liven about 5 months ago and ordered an 8 Bit with cheese and added an extra beef patty to make it quite the chunky burger with plenty of sauce and flavour. Easy eating thanks to the cardboard sleeve and the accompanying beer battered fries made the perfect meal. I could have eaten in store but it was a sunny day so are it in the park nearby.

Was craving a mean burger on a Friday evening, so decided to head down the road to 8Bit and check out the hype, and boy did it live up to expectation. It was busy as expected for a Friday night, but the service was prompt and friendly and the atmosphere buzzing. The food, of which I opted for an 8Bit with Cheese was excellent, very flavourful with a perfectly cooked patty and the right amount of sauce and toppings. Simple, yet delicious, and the onion rings on the side were hot and delicious. I'll be back in future to try the milkshakes, as they looked delectable whilst being prepared in front of my eyes.

For the best burgers in Footscray you can’t go wrong with 8bit. A very welcoming staff will take your order and the menu is priced reasonably well. Inside 8bit looks like an American designed diner, there’s even a bench where you can sit which faces the kitchen. I ordered the Chicken Axel burger that had the crunchiest fried chicken. Burger presentation is 10/10 and will definitely fill you up.

One of the better burger chains in town, patties are always satisfying and never overcooked, ingredients do hit the spot. I do like the slightly 'grimey' old diner/food truck taste of their burgers, definitely not for the health concious but pretty big on flavour. Chips/Gems are always well cooked too. The Footscray store beats the overly busy city location any day.

Amazing as always. I've turned vegetarian late last year so had a Zelda burger and loved every single byte. Prior to adjusting my diet I was always a Double Dragon fiend. I did also try the Donkey Kong burger which was the best thing I ever ate. Regrettably it was a limited time offer burger. Keep up the great work.

They aren't the best burgers in the world, but when you're hungover and need a greasy pick-me-up, they're perfect. Their tater tots and mayo dip are fantastic, and as a vegetarian I've always ordered the Zelda (can't beat that halloumi and avo). My family have tried their meat options too and really enjoyed. The prices are justified I think, based on the quality and quantity you get. I've been back multiple times whilst visiting the city, and would recommend anyone in Melbourne to try it. I've heard service takes a while, and on the last occasion it wasn't too lengthy, but during previous visits it is a bit of a wait (no more than 20-25 mins) so be aware if you're strict for time.

Didn't have Carmel shales available and for some unknown reason, I couldn't work out why the digital Menu wasn't able to be instantly updated to reflect this? Very colourful packaging that builds the brand but also feel like a bit of a waste of ink/resources. Great burgers and yummy shakes although rather small for the extremely high price.

Burgers were good and not too badly priced. Unfortunately the customer service from one of your employees was non existent at your Footacray store. She was rude when taking our order, yawned repeatedly and barely spoke to us as we placed our order. This particular employee, was female, with tattoos on her head. Just thought you should know that they need a refresher on customer service and if this was the sort of person representing my business I'd like to know they weren't bringing my business down. Get it in your face! I have been going to 8bit on occasion for years and I have never been disappointed with the food. The actual shop is on the small side, but it's nothing to be worried about unless there's a lot of traffic ad you feel like sitting down. Milkshakes are tasty and are the right texture, complimenting the excellent and juicy burgers. Always happy to recommend it, a shame there isn't another one further down east past the city

I really liked the burger I had at this place. Its Put together nicely and you don't wear sauce on your hand while eating it. The flavour was well balanced but the best part of the whole burger was the bun, crispy yet soft without tasting dry! Been on a burger binge for the last few months and have had the privilege of visiting over 20 burger establishments in and around Melbourne and this place is definitely in my top 4. Tried the signature 8 Bit with cheese and the meat was cooked just above medium so the flavor literally melts in your mouth. It is complimented with a unique sauce that makes you want to have more and more. Fries are served in a unique fashion with each piece cooked to perfection. Give it a go and you definitely will not be disappointed.

It was standard burger and chips with gimmicky game-related names. I wish it had been better. The service was great though. The staff very attentive and the venue clean, tidy and well staffed. I would be prepared to give it another go in case my first visit is not indicative of the usual experience.

Enjoyed the few times that we have been to 8bit. Loved the two chefs who actually look like they enjoy putting the burger together with so much care. Tonight was a disappointment. The chef did not wear any gloves and handled the meat and other ingredients with his bare hands. I watched him talked on his phone and run his hands through his fairly long hair then grabbed a meat party and put it on the grill. The team tonight who was on didn't have the same hygiene and cleanliness standard as the other teams that we normally see. The kitchen seemed messy tonight.

An off-the-menu hack: Kids Cheeseburger $8 is great value for those little critters. +2 for the free arcade machine but -1 star for only single player and one button only working making all of the games unplayable. Also toilet needs a redesign, the sliding door is usually open and diners can smell it.

One of the best places to grab a burger from. Their store is cool with the old school gaming stuff. Hence the name 8bit. When there is a line out the door you know it is worth the wait. Just a little hard to find a table but other than that you must try their burgers out.

I have a soft spot for the OG 8bit, as it was the 8bit I went to before it branched out to the various City branches. I particularly enjoyed the retro detail scattered throughout the store, in the form of the names of the food, or the arcade game machine tucked in the corner, it reminded me of a more innocent time. As I like chicken burgers normally, I enjoy the golden axe, but my best friend who's vegetarian loves the 1UP mushroom burger. The beer battered fries are delicious, and if you're thinking of the loaded fries, make sure you have a friend to share it with because that serving is BIG. I've made the mistake of ordering it for myself before.

Went here today for a quick spot of lunch as this place has been mentioned to me by a few different people now. I'll agree with some of the other posters that this place was PACKED, with people all over the place. I made my order, found a seat, and had to wait around 20 minutes for my food. That may seem a while for a burger, lets be real here, any other cafe in Melbourne you will wait that long on a Saturday. The burger was well worth the wait though, absolutely loved it. Great food, cool theming. Good Footscray regular for me I think.

Loved our meal, can't exactly remember the price unfortunately but for two, it wasn't bad. The Double Dragon, just get it. Oml. I switch the second meat patty for chicken every time, and I love myself for it. All staff were great, the timing was amazing, the atmosphere was so chill, the decor is mad as. Can definitely say this is my favourite burger joint in Victoria at the moment. It narrowly tops boss burgers in Geelong, only because of their range of foods.

When I first heard of an American-style burger joint opening up in storied Footscray - I was ecstatic. Finally, the gentrification of Footscray and it's surrounding areas was underway and in spectacular fashsion. 8bit has a short menu which is perfect. You don't need 20 different versions of a burger to choose from. The best formula for burger selection is your OG burger for which newbies can start with, a vegetarian option for the mammal-sensitive, a double-patty variant, one for the bacon lovers and one for those that just love to have everything. The open-plan layout of the amenities makes for a great honest vibe. You can see the chefs working on your burger unadulterated. However, this presents a different kind of problem - the smell will enchant you for what seems like an eternity until your order makes its way to your table - making the wait seem longer than it actually it is. With that said, it's a great problem to have and the wait is surely worth it. The wait is slightly discomforting for first-timers but is generally assuaged by the hype and consistent positive feedback among peers. The burgers themselves are Goldilocks-size; not too big, not too small. Generally best accompanied with their cheese and bacon fries which are making my mouth water as we speak. Together with a strawberry cheesecake milkshake, you'll be indulged quite substantially. For those with eyes larger than their stomachs, the Double Dragon is available to suffice with double patties and bacon. But enough of me talking, go and check them out yourself!

Not sure what the fuss is about. There's always a line out the door but the burgers aren't all that special. They do go to a lot of effort and use everything fresh but it was missing something. In addition to this the place doesn't feel very "8-bit" at all; it's severely lacking pixels, the arcade game was broken, the tables were all taken and there are no outdoor tables which was awful. I had to sit facing a blank wall on a date, that was fun. The toilet is very small and could use a makeover too. I love that the kitchen is open, that's very fun and engaging, and I love their milkshakes too. It just seems a little over hyped.

I went to the 8 bit burger joint last night man. Burgers are top notch, not the best I've had but better than Grilled and those types. What I couldn't believe was the queue! The place was chockas and the queue to order was maybe 20 people deep out the front door (this was about 6:45). One of the girls working there was telling us they've only been open for a few weeks but because of the positive press and blogs, they're rammed from about 6pm every night. They even had a high profile Masterchef visit last week. I think they've really struck a chord with the mid 20's to early 30's crowd (about 95% of the people in there) given the nostalgic video game decor in there. Like the room itself is a fairly standard diner setup with seats at the counter and a few tables, nothing too crazy. But there is free Streetfighter style arcade machine to play while you wait. Worth a visit but I'd say wait a month for the cool kids to move along. On the plus side, the gentrification of Footscray looks like it's starting!

The classic 8 bit burger is the best and the onion rings are a bit of alright. There are lines around the corner at lunch and dinner. The line moves fast and it's worth the wait but I have notice the quality slipping a little in recent times. This is a must eat place. Put it on your list.
