I love everything about this place! The food is amazing, the combinations of flavours, colours and textures work perfectly well with the ambience and are a joy for the palate! Highly recommended: get all the share platters you can and leave some space for the Tiramisù, because it's next level!

Ascot Food Store has been around for years, it was one of the first brunch spots I ever visited. However I still think it’s abit of hidden gem that many haven’t yet visited. Open from brunch right through to dinner, they offer a truely unique bistro experience, it has really grown from a cafe into a more sophisticated neighbourhood wine bar. The menu I would probably describe as modern European, a small menu with few classics reimagined and executed impeccably. Everything is on the more expensive side but you absolutely are getting top quality and a generous serve. The dish I didn’t think twice about ordering was the Ricotta Tortellini with King Prawns. I saw it on their Instagram and just had to have it. Let me tell you I think this was probably dish of the year for me. I’ve been thinking about it for weeks since I had it, I pray it never leaves the menu! It was so flavourful with the fermented chilli butter sauce and the pasta cooked Al Dente. Every dish was perfection! The Steak was massive, perfectly cooked and rendered. I loved the broccoli so much with the chilli and peanuts I would’ve enjoyed it as a main, as were the carrots with the dip. Don’t skip dessert, they have a few delicious options. The drinks were great and the service was so kind and attentive. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes, I would say this is now one of my favourite restaurants. Highly recommend.

I was completely wowed by my experience at Ascot Food + Wine last night. We went for dinner and the entrees, mains, sides and desserts were all outstanding, as was the service and wine list. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth every cent. The dishes were approachable but really exciting, and they had a depth of flavour that could easily compete with any restaurant in Melbourne. I'll be back, and I can't wait (and next time I'll take photos).

Booked a casual Friday night dinner here with a mate as we were recommended from a friend. This place did not disappoint, nice vibe and staff super friendly without making it feel overwhelming. Definitely did not expect the quality of food to be this good - everything was amazing. The King Prawns (entree) were faultless and i really mean that, massive mention for the Paccheri Vodka Sauce pasta, you must try this because there is nothing like it in Melbourne. I'm here in Moonee Ponds forever, and have visited AFStore for the first time only yesterday morning (18 June 2020). Staff are friendly and greeted the moment i stepped in. Warm atmos, and intresting how a residential property has been transformed to a lovely Cafe. I am honest, the coffee is great. They have a unique taste of theirs. The corn fritters are delicious and the presentation is fantastic! I have finished so quick, I probably must have left the staff astounded. 😃😁 Will definitely come again!

Don’t be fooled by a somewhat bland exterior. This is a local gem with a focus on quality ingredients, a diverse classy menu, and friendly service. Food presentation is superb. This café gets very busy for brunch on weekends. Coffee snobs will recognize that they have the highest quality of equipment, and the staff know how to use it.

A stalwart of the Melbourne brunch scene and for good reason: the coffee is always excellent and the food is delicious and a perfect mix of creative and comforting. Their famous dish is the lobster roll and it is good (small though) but I keep coming back again and again for the chilli scrambled eggs with chorizo 😍 New kale salad is also bomb. They get super busy on weekends so come early (pre 10:30am) or later (after 1:30pm) if you don’t wanna wait.

Visited Ascot Vale Food Store on a Saturday around 1pm, the place was pretty busy so we had about a 15 minute wait. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I had the AFC & Waffles. The waffles were a great texture and the berry butter was good also. The chicken was slightly too oily but aside from that, good meal and so much other exciting options to try I deffinetely will be going back.

Amazing food and amazing wine accompanied with amazing service. This restaurant has been recently refurbished and I may add that the decor is on point in every way. The sophisticated colour of dark browns adds a lustrous feel about it as this add both comfort and warmth. The lighting combined gives you that warmth of cosiness. The space is lovely and the service was great. We had a burger and steak frites. The burger was nice although the patty was very thin. The steak was disappointing as it had no flavour at all. Had a lovely dinner here last night. There were a few specials in addition to the listed menu items. Excellent food, the modern version of a vol-au-vent was delicious, as was my perfectly cooked hapuka. My partner was equally enthusiastic about his linguini with seafood. Our side of carrots with eggplant was a winner too. Interesting wine list. Service could do with a tiny tweak, however the waiter was very responsive to requests. The only thing that seemed out of place was a burger on the menu. It can be quite noisy and the lighting is dim, making menu reading a little difficult (for old people anyway). We will be back.

Came here for the first time again in over a year and have to say I was quite disappointed with the food. Coffee was amazing and service was fantastic (we were served by a girl with really cool glasses so credit to her) I don't know if the chef has changed but there was a lack of flavour in the food and portion sizes weren't great - I left hungry. It was all very much "instagram food" - a pretty plate but the taste doesn't match what you're looking at. I would much rather have gone to somewhere like darling street espresso where their portion sizes are worth it and their food is fantastic. Sorry ascot food store.... :(

I always enjoy the food here, however, for the inconsistency in quality and how much they serve, I'm torn. I do enjoy it when I go in, coffee is always great. Had the AFC southern fried chicken with buttermilk waffles. One of the most weirdest meals (in a very positive way) I have eaten in Melbourne. Ever. I mean, blueberry maple butter with fried chicken!? And a jar of maple syrup on the side!? For some reason it not only worked, but was bloody bonza! And the fried chicken was a knee knocker - sublime! I took note of several other very appealing dishes on the menu and as I've just moved to a nearby suburb, will definately return. Almost a perfect score from me.
