Comments of Blondie Bar

A great spot for a quick bite or a meal before or after a show!
🍴Food was great. They were very accommodating for a quick bite before a show with food coming out quickly.
The spring rolls were so good!
💰 Price was reasonable
🤵 Staff were friendly and welcoming

Awesome ribs and Korean chicken highly recommended! Nice staff, good price!

A great little place for food and cocktails.
Their patè is amazing and is made in house.
A great little vibe and atmosphere.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you add this place to your list to visit.

Always a great experience at Blondie. Food's pretty good and prices are reasonable. Drinks are also not highway robbery. Love the atmosphere too. They usually have live music on some days

Two of us came to Blondie Bar on a Tuesday night for some dinner. We ordered the tuna tartare, golden fried haloumi bao, crispy fried tofu bao, and chicken and lemongrass dumplings. The customer service was excellent, and the food was delivered very promptly. We both agreed that the food itself tasted delicious and the sauces were tasty. My only criticism is that the portion sizes of the food was very small, considering what we paid. I would've just loved to have more of it, because it tasted really good!

Great atmosphere. I loved that this was a little off the beaten track. Great Korean (Asian) influenced yummy eats. Shared the chicken wings with friends. Would recommended for pre drinks and eats before catching a show next door.

Venue was gorgeous, food was tasty, but staff seemed lacking in training. Got order wrong, forgot a drinks order, dropped Chinese broccoli on our table but rest of our food didn’t come for at least 10 mins etc
C. G.
Nice ambiance and nice front staff ! the french chef is amazing 🤩
I. C.
Friendly staff, tasty Bao ... but on-tap ciders and beers were flat, and fries came with tomato sauce instead of mustard mayo as per the menu - when this was queried we were told 'the chef would have to make it specially, so this is probably the sauce'.
굿.
Nice place to go eat delicious foods and good to chill with DJ and Jazz bands music.

Good location next to Sumner Theatre. Okay snacky menu (great fries) but the wines by the glass are mediocre.

Our prawn entree and lamb shoulder dinner were both utterly delicious however dessert was extremely average and really let down the whole meal. Service was OK but their time management could be a lot better.
We ordered a side of Chinese brocolli vegetables with our dinner yet it didn’t arrive until we had eaten 2/3 of the lamb shoulder & rice dish; very poor service and time management by the kitchen. You would expect your sides to arrive with your dish.
Onto dessert. I ordered the gluten free version of their flowerpot dessert; which on the menu sounded like a decadent and delicious option. However, I was highly disappointed in what was served up. Yes it was quirky and adhered to its name as it came in a pot shaped dish. However, the two edible flowers were carelessly tossed onto the dense and overpowering sludge of chocolate mousse. Amongst this were a few bananas, yet you could hardly taste them. For $17 it was a joke of a dessert.
Advice: Go for dinner and skip dessert.

Dined here last night before attending a show in the concert hall. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was definitely a people person, always cheerful, helpful and interacted with us when near our table.
We didn't have to wait for drinks, table water, etc. She was there when we wanted her and didn't hover afterwards, and yet we were able to get her attention when we needed it. This is a problem with wait staff, once you have your meal, you don't see them until you pay the bill. Not an issue here!
The food was delicious, fresh and flavoursome. Very enjoyable and I will definitely dine here again.

If I could give 4.5 stars I would!
Blondie Bar is a fab place for drinks and food in the Southbank performance precinct. Very easy access to Southbank Theatre and the Recital Centre - also easy access to the Malthouse Theatre. It's really busy and heavily booked inside on performance nights, but you can often get a seat outside (not completely under cover). The real attraction here, though, is the food - it comes promptly, really well prepared/cooked, prices also ok for a theatre venue. If you're serious about eating inside make sure to book a table.
'One half' less star because while helpful and generally obliging, the staff are slightly off friendly - to make up for it they are very efficient at getting the food to a time pressed crowd.

Just finished eating here with my mate before seeing a gig and I have to say that we had the most amazing meal. The wagyu beef burger was absolutely outstanding and the green curry was beautiful. Would definitely recommend to anyone local or passing by as this bar/restaurant is 10/10
C. B.
A great place to grab dinner before a show at the Recital Centre or the Southbank Theatre - just be sure to book, they get busy! The food was delicious and speedy, and the wait staff helpful.
C. E.
Excellent coffee and good light meals, very friendly and attentive staff with a selection of wines and a good selection of single malts. Right next door to the Melbourne Recital Centre so it's great if you're going to a concert there.
J. W.
With Friday night jazz back, this place is great! Sitting outside on a warm Friday night is the perfect way to enjoy jazz and drinks.
C. W.
10/10 coffee, perfectly cooked and presented meals, very kind & charismatic staff with excellent musical tastes. Excellent experience all around!! Special thanks to Meg for the amazing service :)
A. R.
I tried their pizza, beer and pastry. All delicious with reasonable prices.
I. F.
Fabulous food with friendly, attentive staff. Shall definitely go back. Thoroughly recommended.

Try a delicious fresh flowerpot! They're amazing.
I have thrice dined at the Blondie Bar. The first time I was dazzled by the lamb ribs and the crispy battered squid. The flowerpot for dessert is excellent, including the edible soil.
On my most recent visit Chef Vinnie prepared a kangaroo steak which was a new protein for me to try.
Recommended for every time you're in Melbourne. I intentionally added a longer stop over on my most recent flight so I could visit. It really is that good.

Great place to people watch, with tasty little plates to share. The pulled pork bao was delicious. On a cool Melbourne night, the heaters were effective and appreciated.

I am going to be very quick here - music was great, chips were on point, and the beer was absolute gold. Thanks to all for the efforts.

Unexpectedly good food! Pork belly was yummy. I came on a Friday night, I was enjoying the live jazz and atmosphere. Great location for after work drinks.
T. C.
Very nice sharing plates with a decent wine list

Arrived at the bar 25 minutes before the performance started. The waiter helped with suggestions of food that would arrive quickly. We ordered prawn dumplings, haloumi chips and tuns tataki.the first teo dishes arrived within 5 minutes and the tataki a little bit later.. The tataki was beautiful. I want a jar of ume boshi mayo. We ate, loved our meal and were in the theatre with time to spare. Thank you for the great service.

I commute to Melbourne most weeks and this place sits between my accommodation and workplace. Excellent coffee and great food. The food tastes lights and fresh.

Our visits recently have all involved sitting outside as it is always busy when shows are on next door. Excellent share plates.
L. M.
Great local bar, jazz night Friday nights, do a discount price for local residents. Even better now with Southbank Boulevard improvements
H. M.
In this area of Southbank, where affordable and filling food in a cafe context is scarce, there is Blondie: loved by many, appreciated by all.
M. B.
Amazing. The best place ever. Catering and food is of an exceptionally high standard. Atmosphere is beautiful. 10/10
A. M.
Cool bar and a great location but it's pretty frustrating when their opening hours don't match reality!
L. B.

Very affordable and excellent coffee
D. S.
Went here before we saw a show, excellent food and service.
B. B.
We tried the pizza from Miss Dough (the pop-up pizza restaurant they currently have on Thu, Fri and Sat) and it was just amazing. Tasty, colorful and the dough was cooked to perfection!
Definitely one of the best wood-fired pizzas in town!! Apparently, Miss Dough caters also for private events so you could also hire her for your next function.
Oh and the Jazz live music was a treat!
J. G.
