Great ambience, decor and fantastic food. Enjoyed all our dishes especially the whole flounder. The table bread was also delicious- warm, crunchy on on the outside and soft on the inside accompanied with a generous amount of butter. Will definitely be back.

We came here on Saturday night to celebrate getting engaged that day, and it was a wonderful experience! You see the perfect lighting and feel the beautiful ambience from the moment you walk in. Our waitress Liza was fantastic all evening. All the food was sensational. My favourite was the John Dory risoni. It is expensive, but worth every penny.

Amazing food! Was a fan of Merricote from years back and glad to see some of the delicious dishes were kept on this new expanded menu. Duck for 2 was a standout and enough to feed 3 pax. octopus and scallop entree were also good. Will be back to try the rest of the menu!

Chancery Lane is Scott Pickett’s latest clever offering. He just has such style. It’s French oriented but not brassiere style, more a restaurant but not stuffy fine dining. Just very sophisticated lovely ambiance through a clever use of lighting (even during the day). The areas are well seperated around a large bar and the decor is beautiful. Professional staff, an inspirational French menu, great range of wines by the glass and a substantial and knowledgeable wine list. The whole experience leaves you with a feeling of having been somewhere really special.

We had such a wonderful dining experience at Chancery Lane. The food was delicious and the ambience reminded us of New York restaurant bars. A great little place for a drink or shared dishes after work. Our waitress was an expat overseas & while she was very busy with running the tables we admired how attentive she tried to be & only realized how over worked the staff must be due to the amount of vacancies that are happening in the hospitality industry & staff being home due to covid etc. It was 10pm when we had finished & paid and could see staff trying to polish a ton of dishes (we were seated near the kitchen where you could see the meals being prep and coming out). I think during these times, staff are trying their very best to offer 5 star experiences especially if their down on staffing and are working consistently long hours each night in a row to cover a shift. Highly recommend Chancery Lane, wonderful and tasty dishes! A+++

My new absolute favourite restaurant in Melbourne is Chancery Lane. Went here for a set menu dinner and was served Prawn cocktail/scallop/oyster with caviar, Crayfish with oscietra caviar, Baby barramundi with mussel/truffle/noilly prat, and Dry aged duck breast wit witlof & fig. For dessert there was dark chocolate mousse with cherry/cocoa nib/silver leaves. The dessert was pretty average being a mousse-based cake which has a pretty standard flavour profile, but the savouries were extremely delicious. The caviar/seafood was very fresh, and all the meals were subtly yet uniquely flavoured that I couldn’t pick a favourite (maybe the crayfish?). Drink-wise, great cocktail selections. The dim lit restaurant gave off a chic romantic ambiance. Staff were very friendly too. Highly recommend!

A delightful dining journey at this exquisite and elegant restaurant. From the moment of entry, I was encapsulated in a warm yet sophisticated ambience, with French chic music on the background, diverse rooms for dining. Staff were welcoming, knowledgeable yet not intrusive with dishes intervals. Wagyu tartare: smoked duck (2ways), delicate , accompanied by the sweetness and tangy-ness of the sauce that compliments so well with radicchio. Chocolate marquise is not to be missed. Thank you for such an enjoyable evening. Will definitely be back.

What can I say? Amazing experience. Food was absolutely spot on! Crab was delicious and the kingfish dressing was also fantastic. Service was exceptional. The dining menu unique and delicious. Shout out to the chicken liver and sea bass dishes. We will return but hopefully next time get a table and not chairs at the bar, which wasn't that easy to relax in, albeit comfortable, just not too intimate, which is the design of the place it seems. An ode to the history of the place, Chancery Lane takes up the finesse and quality of former high end tenants. The food is delicate, tasty and highly refreshing without being heavy, and is matched extremely well to a great drinks menu. The decor is dark and moody and well suited to the building. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive without being obtrusive. The only negative would be the amplification of outside noise that permeates into the small private dining room. Some innovate sound engineering may be useful. The highlight dishes were the seafood platter.

I had a little trepidation when booking Chancery Lane as it was the only decent restaurant we could get into at short notice. While all reviews highly rated the food and venue, some reviews were critical of the service. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised and relieved when we arrived. The welcome was warm, efficient and courteous. The restaurant beautiful. We were early so given seats at the beautiful bar where we sipped EXCELLENT cocktails while admiring the skills of the bar tenders. We had a wonderful evening made more special by the friendly , attentive and knowledgeable staff. Nothing was too much trouble, even when we asked for more eschalots to accompany our DELICIOUS rib eye. Thank you for a special and memorable meal and evening.

Nice food. Service was very mixed. All the staff were prompt with their service but very inconsistent with their customer engagement. Food was very good. Brianna was just brilliant, super friendly, made good food and wine suggestions and was always smiling. The tall waitress on the other hand was the opposite. Not friendly at all and not once smiled. Another waitress was a bit better than the tall one but didn't interact much. If all the staff were like Briana (especially the taller waitress), I would have given a 5 star review.

OK, BUT EXPECTED BETTER FOR THE PRICE Six of us tried Chancery Lane for the first time on a Friday evening. We had the early sitting (6.30 - 8.30 pm) and from the start were reminded that we had just 2 hours before the table was "needed". Fair enough to have two sittings but the reminders took the edge off enjoying the experience. Two of our party were running late but we ordered entree on their behalf anyway so as not to delay things. The wait staff were not particularly customer-focused. No explanation of the menu and, again, a seemingly singular focus on getting the order and moving on. We elected to have a few entrees to share - charcuterie board, oysters, scallops, beef tartare and a tuna dish. All were OK but not really up to a standard you'd expect for the price. Mains were a mix of good (the whole flounder, the duck for two) and average (wagyu beef flank, steak). The mains come as just the meat itself. We ordered a few sides which were OK but again overly priced for what was presented. Frites served up in two small cups and a witlof salad with six small leaves, The venue itself is comfortable and spacious and not especially noisy. It has very very low lighting. I'm all for mood lighting but this is just too dark to be practical - our phone cameras couldn't pick up the QR code on the check in card. People with mobility issues will be fine at the restaurant is all on one level. My conclusion - nice venue but let down by staff attitudes and poor value for money.

Private dining in the chandelier room was exceptional. Service and food was on point. My biggest disappointment was was it took 2 week to get the events team to call me after calling the restaurant 2/3 times a week. When contact was made the engagement was incredibly slow. I'm not sure sure if the events manager is overwhelmed or just terrible but it wasn't a pleasant experience.

If there was 10 stars, these guys deserve them, from the moment we walked in we were treated exceptionally, the staff were so friendly and so professional. Its was a Friday evening when we visited, we sat at the bar as tables were extremely popular, I suggest pre-book to get a spot. The barman was so entertaining and suggested random drinks for us to try, the food was so delicious, we shared lambs brain, never tried before, its was crumbed on a bed of creamy sauce, absolutely delicious, also shared the premium cut steak which was pre sliced, cooked rare, melt in your mouth, these guys know how to prepare the best steak, we finished off with a parfait and small chocolate tarts... so satisfying, we will be back

Our table asked to speak to the sommelier and a waiter came to answer our questions. When asked if the sommelier was available to make some recommendations, we were told it was unlikely. Strange.

My lawyer took me to this restaurant last week to celebrate the end of or court case. Very impressive! It's in an old set of barristers' chambers I'm told, but it's not stuffy. The furnishings are comfortable (not always a given in all good restaurants) and the food was brilliant. The music was a little load for me (why do young staff always seem to play music that appeals to them and not their older clientele??). Anyhow, well done. Friendly, helpful staff. The signature cocktails were definitely the highlight for us Prawn cocktails were a tasty dish. The steak was ok, cooked slightly unevenly, but not overcooked Ambience is nice although kind of dark for eating. Good place to go for drinks. The sinks in the bathroom were fancy !
