Comments of Chunky Town

Korean street food is fantastic. I shared some hot dogs with sausage and mozzarella, and a vegetarian mozzarella hot dog. They were great, crispy, crunchy hot doggies and they were filling!!
The waffle fries were crunchy and crispy too and they disappeared in seconds haha.
The spicy rice cakes (Tteokbokki) were full of chilli and they are always a treat.
My matcha milkshake was the best, freezing cold milk and a great matcha flavour.
When I was there this place was packed which is hardly surprising. Located on the ground floor of the QV Building off Swanston St its easy to find.
Oh, and did you know you can buy take away well, frozen (hot) doggies to eat at home? They are available in food retail shops and they are definitely a treat. Cook 'em in a microwave, your oven or an air fryer! Too easy.
I'm getting more for sure. Thanks for the invite.

I get food from chunky town often, and I enjoy it! It’s a very good comfort food and is very fillinf. I enjoy getting mine with peri peri sauce and sugar. I have tried the potato one and the one with the crushed noodles on the exterior, and I really enjoy them. I do wish that the cheese was more consistent and went down the entire corndog, but the way it is made is understandable why it isn’t like that.
P.

Chunky Town is a Korean street food stall in the heart of QV shopping centre.
They sell a range of hot dogs on a stick, as well as fried chicken, fried doughtnuts and Korean soft drinks.
They have over 500 stores in Korean, but this is their first Melbourne location.
I tried the sausage chunky for $5.50.
The dough was warm and chewy on inside, and crispy on the outside. With a juicy sausage and generous slathering of both mustard and tomato sauce, this was a great snack.
If you like hot dogs, I’d recommending giving Chunky Town a go.
A. A.
Had the corn dogs and waffle fries. Little bit pricey but it was worth it. The corndog was so soft and cheesy, I'd love to try more of their options
E.
This is such a great little spot for a quick bite to eat for some super tasty Korean street food! The corn dogs are really filling and you can pick your own sauces over the top as well. I loved the potato flavour the best cos the crispy chunky potato pieces outside are so good. The squid ink looks funky but is blander in taste in its squid ink/charcoal coating.
I also loved the Korean fried chicken (the soy flavour is delicious and sweet!) The calamari is super crispy and tender inside but a little bland as there is no sauce/salt pepper flavouring.
M.

First time trying Chunky Town QV and absolutely loved it!
On the day we tried:
- Just cheese
- Squid ink
- Potato
- Spicy tteokbokki + extra cheese
- Strawberry milkshake
All was nice but my favourite would definitely be the Just cheese with sugar dusting. That combo of savoury and sweet just so tasty and addictive.
The squid ink was nice, the batter was more chewy but still soft along with the sausage filling.
The tteokbokki was spicy for sure but you will find yourself keep eating it for some reason haha.
Highly recommended these Korean hot dogs and street food, and the must order just cheese with sugar dusting!
F. Q.
Are you craving some korean snacks?! Chunky Town got your back!
These hot dogs were so crispy and satisfying. If you want the stringy cheese, make sure you choose the mozzarella cheese, otherwise you’ll get the cheddar which has melty texture, but still very nice too! 🍢
If you’re thinking of something sweet, don’t worry! Get their crushed oreo chocolate balls with soft serve ice cream 🍨 This was our favorite 😋
If you’re a bit thirsty, get their Matcha or Strawberry milkshakes 🥤They had nice flavors and great sweetness level, so overall enjoyable!
A. S.
Cheesy crunchy hot dogs are a speciality of @chunkytown.au If you've not yet visited this hot dog paradise, then you're definitely missing out on these awesome, Irresistible treats.
What we had:
Squid ink, mozzarella, sausage chunky hot dog, a delightful treat for all seafood lovers, so exceptionally amazing in taste and a very filling hot dog.
Cheddar and Sausage chunky hotdog, simple yet incredibly mouth watering in taste, so cheesy and crunchy.
Potato Mozzarella and Sausage chunky hot dog, the best one in their menu, that's gonna make you fall in love with the mind blowing combination of fried potatoes, cheese, sausage with the delectable sauces like honey mustard.
Waffle fries, the best type of fries you'll ever have, so crispyand thinly cut fries wedged in a waffle style makes it a fantastic combo.
Crushed Oreo and Chocolate chunky balls with soft serve ice-cream, is an irresistible and a yummy dessert that has the hot crispy fried donut balls on a bed of refreshing vanilla soft serve.
Strawberry milkshake, thick, creamy, flavorful and a delicious drink.
So guys, definitely checkout @chunkytown.au
to fall in love with their sicc hotdogs
T. N.
super fun and delicious korean street food! they serve up korean corn dogs (in all assortments - ahem. the cheese filled with sugar dust is a must!), korean fried chicken, fried fish cakes, tteokbokki, and desserts and milkshakes!
situated in QV, this was easy to find and has access to plenty of seating!
however upon my visit they weren't making half the menu which was a little disappointing - i arrived at 6pm and they close 7pm - so i guess they start packing/cleaning up ahead of an hr! so get in earlier if ur wanting access to the full menu!
I. R.
We came specifically up this end of the City to QV to get these big corn dog things. Was good, filling fun.
Mozzarella and sausage one was good, stringy cheese. Grape Bong Bong is the best drink and the waffle fries are the best out of everything.
They gave us a free corn dog but it had sugar on it with cheese and hot dog inside? Don't know if they actually serve that or if it was a mistake but the outside is like a donut.
I didn't get to try the Calamari unfortunately as they were all out.
Tip it's located the next level down as they don't have it on the directory.

🌭😍These South Korean inspired sausages on a stick just put a smile on our faces.😊
These delicious hotdogs start of with a sausage on a stick then are drizzled with melt in your mouth cheese (SWIPE THROUGH), wrapped in a crispy multi grain batter and topped with fun sauces and creations to suit your mood.😍😍😍
🌭🌭Featured yummy hotdogs and drinks:
🔹️Mozzarella and Sausage Chunky
🔹️Potato Mozzarella and Sausage Chunky (my fav😍)
🔹️Squid ink Mozzarella and Sausage Chunky
@chunkytown.au is definately one to check out and they are centrally located at Melb CBD @qvmelbourne 😉💚

Had the mozzarella potato sausage and it was as delicious as expected. They suggested a mix of ketchup, mustard and sugar and it was perfect (sadly they were out of aioli). Looking forward to going back again and will try the cheddar ramen sausage next!

Last weekend we visited this place at QV Melbourne to try their Korean street food menu.
What we had:
🥔 Potato, mozzarella & sausage chunky hot dog
🐙 Squid ink, mozzarella & sausage chunky hot dog
🦑 Seasoned calamari
🍟 Waffle fries
🍫 Crushed Oreo & chocolate chunky balls with soft serve ice cream
If you are craving some fried food goodness that's the place to go, they are conveniently located in the city and open 7 days a week!
S.
Love the Korean hot dogs here! They are coated in crispy batter, and filled with oozy cheese and sausage. My top pick has to be the potato & mozzarella chunky - the potato is super delicious. The fried chicken is pretty decent as well, and the Oreo shake is heaven!
D. L.
I had purchased a groupon voucher before the covid lockdown and glad they redeemed it despite being months over. I had the potato coated cheese hot dog and waffle fries. The hot dog was crispy on the outside, chewy and tasty on the inside. Very pleased and will be back again!
N. R. R.
Prices are a little high, considering the size of the foods and how filling they are - BUT THEY TASTE AMAZING. The cheese in the corndogs are only provided at the front, and while it is stretchy, it would be nice to have the cheese spread evenly with the sausage. Great supply of sauces. The chunky balls are pretty good - like mini fried donut balls with ice cream on top. These foods are good for a casual celebration with a friend!
M.
Korean Street Food! You will love it if you love cheese and sausage. Super cheesy when you eat it hot.
D. S.
These places are popping up around Melbourne and I know they are popular in Korea. It's something of a dietary craziness because it isn't much healthy about it. But they are somewhat tasty. The food itself is prepared fresh in front of you but did find the portion sizes quite small. I found them a little fiddly to eat and ended up with sticky but tasty finger licking moments. Had the chunky potato. Very nice. Lots and lots of condiments to choose from as well. To drink, I chose a fruit tea with pearls. Again, nice.
If you're 'on the go' then this is a good place to grab something. You can't dine in, it's totally takeaway. A little too much non-recyclable packaging for me.
Staff were helpful as I just couldn't make a decision. Wheelchair friendly.

CHUNKYTOWN, QV Melbourne. @chunkytown.au is the place to go for your deep fried K street food cravings!!! Located in the @qvmelbourne food court it is such a good spot to grab food for the go! ✌🏻🌭 The Korean style corn dogs are a delicious greasy snack and they are all under 10 bucks 😉 The waffle fries are also so good 👏🏻 Yummy! ❤️❤️❤️
J. L.
Unfortunately no picture for this one and I doubt I'll come back for another one.
For the price of the corndog, you're better off getting two and a half $3 Maccas mini combo.
Your average carnival fair corndog is a lot better.
Nothing fancy, nothing out of the ordinary, and definitely overpriced for what it is.
EDIT: my partner was craving corndog so I came back here. I still feel the same.
Snapped some pictures to let you see how far you have to bite to get your first taste of the hotdog. Drink was on some April special for $2, usually $6.20 which I wouldn't go near lol. The corndog was $7.50. Altogether $9.50. Still feels very average and doesn't hit the spot.
T.
Won't you take me to.... Chunky Town!
More Korean street food is infiltrating Melbourne's food scene. Take a hot dog, batter it, fill it with cheese, crumb it in ramen noodles, deep fry it, dust sugar on it and put whatever sauce you want on it. That's the basic gist of Chunky Town. If you don't want ramen noodles, you can have it with potato chunks, or go naked.
Price point - it's fair. The bubble tea prices seem to be very competitively priced which would offset any feelings you may have for the potato hot dog. Service was friendly, but slow, but it is early days so teething problems are inevitable.
Would I have it again? I'm not sure, it was a lot of fun though - and I'm keen to try the bubble teas. If you're the kind of person that likes trying different things - then take yourself to Chunky Town.
4 stars with an asterisk
J. L.
I liked it. The food was really cheesy yummy 😋 🧀🧀
M.
Great place for a snack. i really like the squid ink mozzarella - crunchy outside with oozy mozzarella inside. The sausage is surprising tasty and spicy.
A. L.
Small kiosk selling Korean fried hotdogs and bubble tea. The fried hotdog with cheese is crunchy and taste pretty good. The oil used is clean so no nasty oil flavour. The hotdog is kind of small as it takes a couple bites to get to the actual hotdog. Definitely needs sauce on it and luckily there are plenty to chose from.
Not bad for a quick bite on the run
S. W.
t’s exactly what you expect, in a good way. I unflatteringly chomped my way through this massive stick of crunchy-crispy potato, fairly neutral sausage (I wouldn’t have minded more flavour) and cheddar cheese that I couldn’t taste at all (should’ve gotten mozzarella). Definitely, definitely get sugar coating. Either a light meal or a big snack, though either way this will leave you feeling quite heavy.
C. H.
Was so good! Chunky Town was a bucket list destination and so happy i finally got there!! Staff were super friendly too
P. M.
Chicken sausage not really tasty, you can feel that is a first price meat.
The cheese was good but there is only one piece at the end of the sausage and not around this one.
Finally it’s only a fried sausage.. not bad but not good.
P. G.
We happened to visit @chunkytown.au where we were super happy to taste some deliciousness and we ended up tasting most of it.
.
We tried:-
- different flavours of Korean Hot Dog
- with amazing thick shakes
- Korean balls with ice cream for dessert
.
.
When you are in the city, do try and drop by @chunkytown.au and grab some delicious bites.
.
And we tell you that you will definitely love it!! It is pocket friendly and a quick and easy grab and go street food.
T.
Tasty fried Korean street food.
G. L. (.
I've been here third times and always delicious! It's way more expensive compared to the one back in korea (of course the minimum wage is higher here) but since it's very tasty I am keep visiting this place. I've tried the one with the potato and cheese and the one with sausage and cheese. They are all delicious. Keep it up!
M. M.
Good experience, there was no line of people. I didn't get the fries here, but noticed they are in a bain maree compared to the store down Elizabeth st.
It's a nice kiosk, that does cooked to order sausages on a stick or cheese on a stick with crispy batter. They sell bubble and milk tea also which is not bad.
It's located in the food court in QV opposite Bread Top, Hairhouse warehouse, and the Priceline Pharmacy.
There is a good range of unlimited sauce on the side, so you can drench your corn dog in sauces.
K. M.
Love this place had the teokbokki which was delicious and amazing (rice cakes in hot sauce) next time I'm trying the chunky hot dog with mozzarella and potato (looks like a dagwood dog but with mozzarella and looks like crinkles cut chips stuck on outside) looks delicious and very popular. Customers seemed to enjoy choosing their own sauce combinations, wish this place was closer to home but worth the trip into town!
T. V.
Yum. Was wondering around for a snack. Just got the first option. Perfect snack size, would def come back and try more.
h. w.
Fun food
G. H.
Not sure if its the temprature or if the oil is quite old but apart from the sausage, everything else taste like eating oil. Cheese sauce was selected but wasnt much at all, around 1tbs. Quite a long wait for only 1x sausage roll order as there is only 1x person working on a Saturday lunch time.
M. H.
Hits the spot if you’re after something hot and greasy. Service is always fast and efficient too.
c.
Looks like a Korean version corndog, with add up options of mozzarella cheese, potato chunk, squid ink & etc. All orders were made fresh in front of customers, didn't take too long. I had tried the sausage with mozzarella chunk. It came out that the batter was thick, and it was a bit too hot to eat for the first few bites. The sausage tasted like those supermarket sausage, weirdly spongy, didn't have much flavour. The mozzarella chunk was huge and stretchy. Fun to try, but not fancy about it. Customer base are mostly students.
J. m. S.
Do you want to try real Korean Hot Dog? Don’t need to go Korea anymore. Visit Chunky Town and try it. You will see the new world!!!!!!!!!
L.
3 times more expensive than Korea but similar taste.
I enjoyed this potato hot dog.
민.
Great quality korean street food, friendly staffs. Thank you all :)
J. T.
This little shop (and its new brother in QV) specialise in Korean-style gourmet corn-dogs. They're cooked to order and you can put add sauces to make it your own. They also have waffle chips, dough balls, and bubble tea, etc. I have a suggestion in terms of clarifying the menu (and all delicious combinations/permutations that are available). Consider presenting your menu more as a step-by-step instead of just the 8 'recommendations' as it were.
I imagine like 'Choose your filling - sausage, sausage/mozarella, sausage/cheddar, chicken, cheese only' then --> 'Choose your coating -> batter only, +noodle, +potato, +squid ink, etc. Kinda like how bubble tea menus are broken down into base/toppings? Hope that makese sense. I think fine to have those 'top 8' or 'favourites' as suggestions - but for example, it was not clear that I could have a chicken sausage with potato chunks for example (because it's not on the menu?) but the sales person did say the ordering system would let it be put through like that.
A.
The girl serving was very good. Used Groupons coupon, got it for $4.
S. L.
Delicious street food! Its similar to corndog rather than hotdogs so basically its deep-fried sausage on stick covered in chewy bread-ish layer. We tried the sausage, mozzarella sausage and potato-mozzarella-sausage, all delicious and highly recommended! Always ask for the corndog to be sprinkled with sugar - Koreans know how to step up the food game!
T. R.
A fun new snack place has just opened up at the Flinders Street end of Elizabeth Street. Essentially a hot dog on a stick covered in cheese and a crispy crusty outer shell that makes it pretty delicious. Lots of different flavours to try.
S. N.
Located near the super busy Flinders Street station in the heart of Melbourne CBD. Ordered Potato, mozzarella & sausage chunky and Noodle, cheddar & sausage chunky. Total 8 AUD (via Groupon app). The service was quick and the portion was good and fulfilling. There are plenty of sauces that we can choose from: Tomato sauce, Peri peri sauce, Garlic aioli, Mustard, Smokey bbq, and Chipotle. Super in love with this place and would definitely be back again! Would give 5 stars if they provide a place for us to sit and savor our hot dog!
K. M.
Awesome snack ... I would totally visit again
M. K.
Perfect for a quick, but filling meal. Very tasty. A great combi of sausage, cheese and fries. My kids and I all love it.
Going to try with a different sauce next time.

It was not very surprised flavour but it was interesting how this hot dog has been created. Great presentation on the small or large one and chips were very crunchy!!!!!!nice job!!
I. P.
Ben and Raymond have exeptional customer service! I'm a regular and they are very friendly with their service and also quick. The fries are superb.
P. W.
Delicious. I ordered the one with the fires on it and asked for the peri peri sauce. The dough was chewy and the sausage filling. Definitely going to purchase again.
N. T.
Extremely delicious, friendly staff, easy to find
J. P.
So good! Cooked to order crispy, sweet, nice cheese and sausage with all textures.
My favourite snack in CBD
J. D.
Its the very first time I’ve tried something like this. Very different and tasty. I kept coming back for 3 days in a row to try the mozzarella bite. Love it.
S. P.
Friendly staff, made fresh but nothing more than a bland plain hotdog in batter and cheese (with some other optional toppings). The selection of sauces add some flavour. Not great, not terrible
J. S.
amazing hotdog! The one with cheese just melts in my mouth and it makes nice mixture with the sauce the staff recommended!! Feel like having it everyday
C. P.

They got my order incorrect initially and they gave me a tea to compensate. Both food and tea was tasty. I think they should open later on the weekend though.

Bloody amazing. Well priced.

A different twist on a classic. If you like Dagwood dogs when you go to carnivals l, you'll love Chunky Town.
The one covered in potatoes is kind of like a hash brown casing, delicious!
The oil was slightly fishy so if you're not a fan of fish, avoid. Otherwise really good!
훗. 이.
(Translated) Really crispy and delicious hot dog !! It's a waste to pay for it and eat it.
