Gami is hands down my favourite fried chicken place, and my favourite Korean restaurant, for that matter, and for good reason. The food is always incredible. It is typically very busy, and it is a tad pricey, but I don't mind paying for such quality. Try it, and it'll be your new favourite restaurant too.

@gamichickenbeer has a new BIG CHICKEN Menu Item and it was absolutely insane!!!! $68 gets you this massive 1.2Kg of Boneless Fried chicken, loaded with shoe string fries, fried rice cake (so good) and cheese sticks 🤯 It is worth checking out for your next KFC feast with friends (it was a LOT of chicken for two people 😹). 🤤 It also comes with the four signature dipping sauces too 🙌🏻 Such an epic feast. Gami is still a top spot for KFC lovers imho ✨🌟

Gami Chicken has some great choices for fried chicken and other fried goodies. Overall experience was great and the food was surprisingly quite tasty. The only draw back was that it was quite pricey and not much options for lunch specials etc. Other than that, I recommend everyone to come here and enjoy some nice, juicy fried chicken!
P. W.
We ordered the boneless chicken breast (garlic soy and spicy) and kimchi pancake. I highly recommend getting the spicy flavoured chicken. Chicken was dry, though. The sauces were delicious. Pancake was okay. The flavour was good, but it was not as crispy as I liked it to be.

Great food!!!! Shared the $70 mountain of chicken and sides with two others, splits well. Compares to other Korean chicken I've had, succulent and perfectly cooked.

We always used to order Gami chicken on Uber but this time we decided to eat in house. We ordered few different dishes apart from chicken. Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed with the food. Chicken as always was amazing but the rest of the dishes not much.
N. M.
Finally tried stuff other than the fried chicken — it was all great too. (We still got fried chicken, natch 👌)
The hotteok dessert (pounded rice dumpling with red bean paste in) was surprisingly delicious

Never fails to amaze me. Such a simple combo or fried chicken and beer is so enticing. Been eating here for years and the quality, quantity and the customer service is on point. Chicken is crispy on the outside and soft n juicy on the inside. Their house beer is pretty good to wash it all down. Special mentions to their kimchi pancake and potato heaven. You ll be running on the treadmill for days after eating here. But it's totally worth it.

Visited the lonsdale st branch in melbourne. Amazing customer service!! Chill atmosphere, good food 😋 Chicken was really good. Our favourite was the potato heaven. Thank you!! ❤️ We’ll be back for sure
Y. Y. T.
Crispy boneless chicken, fried to perfection. Served with decent sauces, albeit their sweet sauce can be pretty sweet. Their deokbokki was alright but don't bother trying their pancake! I thought their waitress was really thoughtful to stop the both of us from ordering more, but we're pretty big eaters ourselves! Thank you nevertheless. Will come back for their fried chicken. Also, we were able to get a table without making a reservation!

The main characters of the restaurant are chicken and beer, but the taste of the original fried chicken is not special good. Seafood pancake just OK, corn cheese too sweet and fried sweet potato vermicelli with chicken meat- forget it 👎

I've now been to a few Korean restaurants that specialise in fried chicken and I must say that this is by far the best place to get quality Korean fried chicken in Melbourne CBD. We ordered the Boneless Fried Chicken in soy garlic and sweet chilli and let me say that this chicken was fried to perfection. As soon as you bite into the chicken it just melts in your mouth. There are no dry bits with this chicken as would find in a normal KFC place, there is even ample options on side dishes including kimchi pizza or our favorite, mash Heaven. To be honest with you if you are deciding between Sam Sam chicken and Gami chicken in Little Lonsdale, go to Gami chicken. You won't regret it.
M. N.
Amazing crispy and juicy fried chicken. Got half and half original and spicy + hot chips which were home made skin-on and also delicious. Beer was very good and complemented the chicken very well. Small restaurant so there may be a wait, but food is served quickly and staff are very attentive.
R. N.
Indeed the best Korean Fried Chicken in Melbourne, price is also good and their Craft beer was amazing, ordered the lager and will try the other beer next time.
Absolutely love the place and will come back. Not giving the 5th star just because they only gave us 1 and a half hour max on bookings and when i was here i only get 1 hour to eat.
A. M.
Excellent chicken and beer and service! We were the last customers in on a Friday night and were served with a smile. The garlic&soy and sweet chilli wings were delectably messy. Spicy chicken and rice was a beautifully burning combination and the lager washed things down pretty well. Craving fried chicken with a Korean twist? Can't go wrong.
Update - a revisit on 21/01/20 hit the spot again. Attentive service and excellent food - for a tangy hit try their Mala sauce!

For a chicken restaurant on the outer edge of town, Gami is very busy!
We arrived close to 7 and both floors were nearly filled.
Of course the main attraction is the chicken. We opted for the boneless as it's a bit less fiddly and messy...
The chicken comes either plain or with sweet or spicy coatings. Our chicken was tender and very tasty.
Kimchi pancakes were delicious as was the cheesy corn. Both went perfectly with the chicken.
They also had interesting soft drinks including Korean drinks in crushed pear, and orange flavors. They were not too sweet, not too sour. Different to the Aussie standards.
Only complaint is that it's super noisy in the restaurant. Great food but perhaps not a "romantic date" kind of venue.
For the chicken lovers of Melbourne, this is a must visit!
Recommended.

Crispy, juicy Korean fried chicken and beer! That's what we went for and that's what we got. Went at 19:30 on a Wednesday night and had to wait only about 2 minutes for a table. We ordered the boneless chicken and the wings, both with sweet chilly and soy garlic sauces. The chicken was delicious and crispy, maybe a little oily. The sauces were very sweet, like having dessert and main together. Even the complementary coleslaw was really sweet. I don't like really spicy foods but I think this chicken could have been better with a bit of spice. The portion sizes are extremely generous - we got a take away tub for most of the wings. Prices are very reasonable. Good service.

Really love the restaurant. Because of lockdown, I ordered take out and wanted to order one from Healeys Ln but got the wrong location and went to 100 Little Lonsdale location instead. Waitress was super kind to wait me by the door, give me a free drink and a little note :) Food was great too. Ordered the combo - half and half original wings with boneless soy garlic with chips. Especially love the boneless soy garlic. Will visit again :)

1) Decoration: simple,minimalist, a bit retro.
2) Staff: They're great, friendly and helpful. (8/10) Staffs will always be there to help you when you ask for it. Giving customers best advice that suit their taste (9/10)
3) Food: You must try Sweet and chilli chicken, it's perfect and very tasty ( in my own opinion 9/10) The sides is good, depend on which kind. Not recommend Kimchi pancake

Amazing fried chicken! My favourite flavour is the Soy Garlic. The Potato Heaven is a must-try. Located in the nice little Little Lonsdale street, near Chinatown, QV and Melbourne Centre. Highly recommend if you enjoy fried chicken! The wait staff are always very friendly and the wait times for food aren’t bad at all! Very clean restaurant and the service is great.

I went back here again. Except their nice and yummy foods. In this review I will mention how the staffs who served me in 24th jan 2020 after 8pm were incredible nice. They just know how to treat costumers in a very good ways. They staffs were so polite and nice. All of them. Thanks Will be back for sure.

Absolutely in love with the soy garlic boneless chicken and potato heaven!
Very busy during dinner times, make sure to get there early to secure seats.
Despite the crowd, the service was great and the food was served surprisingly quickly.

It was “ok” as Korean, it is shame though, but in Perth it might be acceptable. I lived in Melbourne over a decade, original Gami was Korean chicken legendary, since it changed to group chain business. There is no soul in that chicken. When you carve for Korean chicken, you have to eat it, then Gami might work for you.
A. M.
The boneless chicken was delicious with beer. Friendly service and very quick. It was super busy when we left so be prepared to wait if you don't have a booking. It didn't affect our experience but the floor and stairs were extremely slippery. If the owner reads these reviews, I'd suggest you fix this ASAP before someone gets seriously injured.
W. N.
An institution for Korean fried chicken and beer in town. Always been consistent, never disappointed with the chicken. The chicken with bone on is more flavourful but boneless is still good and not too dry.
P.
I’ve been eating fried chicken back home since I was a kid. For the last few years been hooked to gami for my fried chicken craving. Tried few places for korean fried chicken but I think gami is still my first preference. The taste is always consistent. Even when they’ve got delivered to your house .. taste still the same. Gami on Little Lonsdale got the best services compared with the others so far.
K. J. M.
Definitely a stop to visit if you are craving for fried chicken with beer. Do try the potato heaven, as it suggest it was a heavenly combo of wedges with creamy cheese ^^
Great addition to any order :)

🌟 A go to place for Fried Chicken & Beer 🌟
Their chicken have never failed me!
🍴 Food
1) chicken wings
2) potato heaven (literally)
3) half half fried chicken (chilli & garlic sauce)

It was worth the wait. Every morsel, every bite. I couldn’t wait to write. But be warned, read this only if you’ve eaten. Or hunger is sure to ensue.
Gami is everything you could hope it to be. The service was quick and the way the wait staff took the order and managed the entire process was flawless. Attentive and prompt, it did not feel like you had to wait long.
You walk in and are immediately hit with a queue. The rumblings of the impatient diners can be heard in that small alcove. But it’s the smell. The smell is the most annoying part. If you weren’t hungry, the temptation that it sent through your nose and into your brain was enough to signal to the rest of you to say, “actually, yes I am hungry. And not just hungry, starving. Damn it man, FEED ME!” However, if you time it right, you won’t wait long.
And the food. My lawd, you came to read about the food.
They start you off with some entrees. It looked like twisties and tasted amazing. A bit dry so make sure you have some water ir a beverage of your choice close by.
We started off with kimchi pancakes and those things were absolutely divine! And given I am not a fan of vegetables (if I can help it), it reminded me of sweet potate wrapped goodness.
And here is an extremely good primer on chopsticks. If you are going to eat at a Korean restaurant, you will need to eat with chopsticks. In which case you will need to lift your chopstick game. Yes you can eat with forks, but the social pressures and dissapointing looks are enough to persuade you to comply. (Damn psychology!). That’s when I realised, I wished I had better chopstick game. But in case you read this review before you go: here’s a handy how to guide.
And then came the Korean Fried Chicken! That smell. Those delicious mouth watering bites that’s just subtly tempting you like the person you’re chatting up at a bar with slowly parting lips, tongue across the lower lip and biting down whilst murmuring….”eat me”. Yes. We are still talking about chicken. No. It’s not awkward unless you make it.
We decided to go with soy and sweet chilli sauced chicken bites. The crunchy exterior was no match for the delicious sauciness. The drips were deadly, you won’t be able to get those stains out in a hurry. Match that with my flailing chopstick capability and it made for a hilarious to watch, heart racing to me, endeavour. Then the crunch. The crispy outer shell breaks and the sauce mingles with the tender breast on the inside. And for a brief moment time stops. The taste. The heavenliness. You’ve made it.
Stark reality. That was just the first piece. Now your hearts racing for a different reason. You want another one but it’s fraught with danger. Could you go faster? What if you spill? Go on, you think. You finally understand what the words “YOLO” truly means.
Whilst there are multiple Gami locations, it was decided that the Lt. Lonsdale street location would be the one to pop my KFC (korean fried chicken) cherry. The place is designed to fit a maximum number of people. Which it does well but don’t expect to have quiet conversations. Or think about discussing anything private. I mean, I know people are way too liberal about their lives on Facebook but geez louise, I do not want to hear about your sexual escapades that reminded you of the meal you’re eating which just so happened to be one that I was enjoying. Oh people….
Would I recommend this place? Absolutely! But only with a loud group of people and looking for a fun night. Beers + chicken? Gami, you got it down to an art.
A. K.
Heard this place had great fried chicken and was right down the road from the Old Gaol. The fried chicken was soft and delicious, the chicken burger was amazing paired with perfectly with the Beer. The service was awesome and everyone was happy to help. I would defiantly recommend here if you are anywhere near!
A. T.
First time but I'll be back. Chicken super crispy tasty and juicy. Sauces fantastic. Chips great and we also got the 3 potatoes dish as well. All of it was fantastic. Service friendly and food delivered pretty quickly.
J. L.
Best fried chicken ever! Don't think I'll be happy with kfc after having this. Served with a side of pickled radish which is surprisingly delicious with the chicken and the corn cheese is so gooey goodness!!
I. m. M.
Can't go wrong with chicken and beer at Gami! Always delicious!!
Definitely book ahead if you're in a large group - I'd recommend Gami for large groups as the portion and price are suited best for this as it is otherwise a bit much for 1-2 people portion and price-wise in my opinion.
G. H.
We love this place, I think its so delicious. Chicken half spicy and half sweet chill, with fried rice cakes. We normally ask our salad with no sauce as I think its better.
The chicken is nice and crispy on the outside with a nice crunch. Tender on the inside, the spicy and sweet chill sauce mixed together is makes the dish stand out from the crowd. We been to Gami chicken 5 times in 5 weeks since being in Melbourne. The restaurant is small and usually there is a wait to get a table up to 30mins at peak times. The best thing to do if there is only two of you, is wait as people usually finish up quickly. Or go before 6pm, you normally get a table before it gets really busy.
M. M.
Been twice. Had the chicken burger the first time and the half boneless chicken with Soy Garlic sauce. Both times the food was good and the Gun:Bae Gami special beer is quite nice. They also have a bunch of $13 lunch special items that you can choose from. Would recommend this place if looking for somewhere new to try.
N. O.
While waiting for the food, they served us bowl of cracker and sweet radish. I had Boneless Chicken with Mala sauce. The chicken is tender, and the sauce is amazing. It comes with salad. Their Potato Heaven is a must. Creamy and cheesy. The staff is friendly.
G. D.
Chicken and beer, can't go wrong. The boneless chicken with honey soy dipping sauce it great. Al's worth a try are the vegitarian fried dumplings and seafood pancake. Pitchers of beer on tap are also available.

Korean Fried Chicken franchise in Melbourne! Got original and spicy flavor :) Chicken was tender and juicy with a nice kick! Worth a visit for a quick bite!
K. W. T.
Went for the half boneless chicken lunch deal at $18 and it was amazing. There was roughly 8 pieces of breast/thigh meat and the coating was really good. Chose the soy garlic sauce and it went well with the chicken. The chicken came with a slaw which wasn’t that good as they put ketchup over it. Service was really good and prompt though it was quite crowded at 1 plus on a weekday. Oh they have second floor as well. Just take note there’s a 1% surcharge on card payments.
J. D.
Amazing feed, had the soy garlic boneless chicken and it was super juicy and just the right amount of crunch. Also recommend the cheese corn, once you have it there's no turning back.
A. S.
Korean fried chicken and ddeokbokki (spicy rice sticks dish) is one of the best meal combos around and when I found a place nearby that has both those dishes on offer, I had to give it a try. The fried chicken was crispy and tender and I really liked the soy garlic sauce. The ddeokbokki came with fish cakes and noodles which just added to the Korean street food vibe and was also thoroughly enjoyable.
Y. W.
Gami is one of the go to places for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). Even though there are many other Korean restaurants in the CBD offer fried chickens, somehow they can't beat Gami. The portion of the foods is generous and their boneless chicken is mostly made of chicken breast. If you love fried chicken, then Gami is a must!
J. L.
Simple menu selections. Sweet Chilli would be my favorite option. Portion is decent.
The only downside about the venue would be its size. Only able to sit a small amount of people. So if you're thinking of dining in for dinner, do arrive early or be prepared to wait for about 20mins or so.
C. M.
Best Korean fried chicken I’ve had in a while! Juicy and tasty. Staff were nice and the atmosphere of the restaurant is causal and relaxed.
J. A.
Good flavour in most of the things, the burguers are not thaaat good and the home made drinks are a bit sweet. Good price and really nice staff.
M. K.
Good flavour boneless chicken. , normal pancakes
J.
Always serving up an amazing feed, Gami is a definite go-to after work to unwind! Friendly staff and amazing chefs. Their chicken is always on point and their potato heaven is to. die. for! During busy periods, seating allocation is for about 1.5 hours.
K. B.
Our First time here. Korean Fried chicken taste so good.. especially with soju. Feels like I'm in korea. Very authentic. Professional korean staff. Thank you for a fantastic evening. Will be coming back whenever we are in Melbourne.
F. L.
Second time we have ordered delivery from Gami and we have been very happy with our meal - really delicious. Some of our favourites we will reorder is the coated garlic soy chicken wings, japchae, cheese sticks and amazing crunchy chips! Thank you! :D
S. R.
Pretty good to drink beer and ear fried chicken. Sweet chilli fried chicken is yummy and not spicy (for those fearful of spicy). Otherwise. The doboki is super spicy and yummy!
S. T.
You cant go wrong with Chicken and Beer the spice is not hot enough to bring a tear. The only thing to fear is eating too much.
For lunch or dinner Gami Chicken and beer sure is the winner
Gami's Chicken takes flavour to a whole new dimension with its rich coated crispy texture and its delightfully smothered sauce's wash it down with some on tap beer.
Great for groups, solo and any occasion.
M. F. F.
Delicious crispy ribs with garlic soy sauce and a Korean beer. Friendly fast service and awesome sides. So happy we tried this! Will be back
N. T.
Chicken is so so good. All the sauces blend well with the boneless chicken. It is a bite of heaven and great ambient atmosphere
S. L.
Really good taste. Recommend whole fried chicken & seafood pancake & Strawberry cider
N. C.
Spot on fried chicken with awesome sides and great draught beer. What more do you need. To know?
M. L.
Really nice and fresh. Some of the sauces were one dimensional and could be better.
M. A.
Tried gami chicken this weekend. We ordered spicy stir fried chicken with rice, chicken burger and kids meal for the little one. We just loved the stir fried chicken. It was definitely “The star”. We would definitely go back to have that. Chicken burger was ordinary chicken burger not so special. Kids meal was good for a little one. Overall we loved the experience. The staff was really kind. We liked the service. Highly recommended 👍🏻
L. R. K.
Love the saucy spicy chicken. The chicken was tasty to the bone. Would love to eat it again on a cold autumn evening as today. A must try for. Chicken lovers.
R. A.
So good! I love boneless fried chicken! And the cheesy corn is awesome.
T. C.
Service is quick and the food is great. They are very accommodating to large groups and are very helpful in making ordering suggestions.
J. C.
Amazing crispy, sticky, beautifully tasty fried chicken... Delicious.
k.
Japchae was yum and so as with the chicken. The fish cake soup was flavourful. This is a highly recommended restaurant.
N. L.
Crispy skinned chicken smothered in delicious sauces, match it with some cold beer = great night out with mates. Love their kimchi pancake as well!
T. W.
Wasn't very busy, great chicken and good service.
M. T.
Ordered on uberEats and that was part of the problem. Wasn't impressed by the chicken and the green salad. Not cheap either.
J. H.
Always ordered the 12 pieces chicken wings in half original and half spicy, but today was told by the girl that they don’t do half and half for chicken wings anymore, although their menu still says 2 flavours. Didn’t get it as if it is one flavour only they need to put the spicy source on all 12 pieces and 2 flavours they only need to do 6. Asked why and was told because it is a new year now and they will have a new menu. Great.
N. F.
Awesome chicken. Cold beer. If you're only going to sell a couple of things they need to be good, and this is as good as is gets.
M. K.
Very crispy and yummy chicken! Just wish they had a spicier flavour available.
S. S.
Really like this place’ yummy chicken great lunch time spot! Looks cool
M. M.
Our go to for Korean Fried Chicken. This particular store has never failed us over the course of 3 years in terms of food quality and consistency as well as service. Can’t praise them enough, keep up the good work 🙏🏻
S. D.
Incredibly succulent fried chicken, good atmosphere and friendly staff.

Good Chicken at a Decent Price.
Love coming here for lunch or dinner. Best to bring a group and share a whole chicken or 2. Everything from taste, service and speed are all good and I have never had a problem in any of the 8+ times I have been here. If your a first timer, i recommend getting corn cheese and a whole chicken (with bones). However getting boneless means less mess, they do have a washroom on both levels which is convenient to wash your hands after eating.
T. W.
Fried chicken and beer, always a winner. Plenty of seating for a Friday lunch. Service was quick and everything fresh. Dig in!
R. D.
Great for group outing, some decent chicken and beer selection.
D. W.
The spicy chicken with volcano sauce was sensational. Matched with Hawthorn IPA and was an absolute treat.
J. F.
I'm so obsessed with Gami, I've ordered it 3 times this week.
Boneless fried chicken full order is more than enough for 2. Soy garlic is fragrant and sweet, spicy coated is incredibly delicious.
Potato heaven is great - fluffy mash on the bottom layer, melted cheese, wedges on top, smothered in sweet chili. The addition of sour cream is great - the only thing is I wish they gave more in the delivery order.
I've ordered delivery from here a few times already. Portions and packaging is better at this branch than Fitzroy's. Also really like that they use eco-friendly utensils as well.
M. S.
Great place for some fried chicken and beer. Grab yourself some cheesy corn and kimchi pancake as well !
L. F.
Was a great experience! Good fried chicken in a nice place! Price is ok, perfect for lunch!
S. S.
Nice restaurant- portions are quite big and filling. Highly recommend booking if you come in the evening.
R. E.
Excellent Korean fried chicken.
Definitely go for the sweet chilli sauce!
The chicken ribs were very good too!
Servings are mostly large enough to share between 2.
Great location, funky fit out- typical Melbourne grunge vibe.
It’s in a basement out of concrete so can get very noisy.
H. K. K.
Chiken & Beer, aka Chi-Mac, has never been wrong.
P. V.
Ordered over the phone and paid on pick up. Super easy, quick and delicious fried chicken, cheesy corn and kimchi pancake. Great place for a feast. Beer towers are a bonus when we could dine in.
S. J.
There is just nothing quite like splitting a big plate of fried chicken with some friends.
The food is always served fresh and tasty. In fact, the last time I was there I watch a waiter (who didn't see me looking) drop a piece of chicken on the counter. I could see three options:
1. return the briefly soiled chicken to the plate (5 second rule!)
2. not replace the piece of chicken because who would notice one missing
3. send back the plate to get the chicken replaced.
Option 3 was immediately chosen - I am sure you wouldn't see that everywhere.
Gami has become a regular treat for me and my friends. Heck, it's where I chose to have dinner for my 30th birthday - if that's not an endorsement, I don't know what is.
If you haven't tried Gami yet, look no further. Your next lunch or dinner is sorted.
S. N.
Fantastic food and service as always. The fried chicken is consistently great, can always depend on the same high quality. Highly recommended.
H. S.
Nice place for Korean style fried chicken & beer, their chicken is fried to perfection! Crispy skin but yet juicy, the soy garlic sauce is my favourite one, really flavourful! Corn cheese is awesome too! Recommend to come to this place as a group!
s. c.
The food is delicious and the price is reasonable
H. C.
We went here twice during our visit to Melbourne, simple but delicious menu! The fried chicken comes with a surprising number of sides, they were basic but enjoyable. There was the cabbage with sauce on it (a basic version of coleslaw?), pickled radish, and shrimp crisps. The crisps literally weren't even listed on the menu, random bonus. And they kept refilling the sides too (the menu didn't say it was refillable), double bonus! And the crispy chicken was fantastic.
R. Q.
Really great vibes, the staffs are very friendly. I really looking for the spicy korean fried chicken, but in my pov this chicken not quite spicy. Maybe I should I ask super spicy next time? Well the taste is fine. The cheese sticks just like the normal one. I really really hope the chicken have level of spicy. That will be great.
J.
Great chicken, easy to order - super busy and long wait times. Loved the chicken at Gami; after queuing for about 20min we were able to secure a seat (just the two of us) and were handed the easy to order menu. Their options are great and allow for the heat enthusiasts to sate their desire for spicy chicken and those who wish to abstain. The chicken came out pipping hot - very very fresh and the sides were interesting tasty and a great addition. Great little place will be back again soon!
K. L.
Consistently great fried chicken. You cannot go wrong with any of the flavours. Spicy is pretty spicy though. The cheesy corn is great, as is the kimchi pancake.
The wait is pretty quick for a seat, otherwise you can always book.
Sometimes our rice is forgotten. Other than that, Gami is awesome.
T. S.
The place to go to for Korea style fried chicken, their chicken is always really crispy, my favourite is the Garlic soy fried chicken. Corn cheese is good as well, a classic Korean little dish. I think this place is great for group of friends, nice environment and food, we always have a great time here!
M. S.
Love their soy garlic boneless chicken! The sauce is amazing and it is fried perfectly! Goes really well with beer! Their corn cheese is really nice as well, a classic dish, will come back again soon!
B.
There is probably better fried chicken, not bad but I'd reccomend going to a local/family owned Korean fried chicken place then a chain. Burger was pretty soggy and chicken was a bit cold, unfortunately.
O. S.
Kimchi Pancake is spicy and vegetarian. Those who love kimchi could enjoy this pancake.
K. S.
You can’t go wrong with Korean fried chicken, especially Gami. The food quality in this branch always consistent. Never dissappointed 👍 keep up the good work
D. G.
Love the chicken here!! Good value for money as well.
L.
Delicious chicken and Soju! Great joint to get together with friends. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Would be better if they had more Soju flavors in stock, but still had a fun time. Would definitely come here again.
M. Z.
4 flavours to choose from we got the spicy & original - wasn't disappointed!
The Korean beer they serve on tap is a perfect accompaniment.
At $34 for the chicken it fed two of us from that serve so can't wait until I'm back in Melbourne for more.
S. N.
Nothing but happiness after eating from this restaurant. The potato heaven is the best. Ordered whole boneless chicken with garlic and sweet chili sauce as well as cheesy corn. Very delicious
K. T.
Gami is the embodiment of how Korean Fried Chicken should be made. I highly recommed this place especially when you're going with a group of people.
E. L.
Amidst lockdown, we ordered from here tonight and got delicious donuts as a thank you for our support. A Melbourne institution, and amazing chicken as always, delivered and in house. Thank you for the amazing food.
R. S.
Very delicious food, I did not think that melted cheese and a kimchi style chili dish would work but it did! We had the popular sweet chili and honey garlic chicken and it was great. I want to know what their secret is to keeping the chicken so moist on the inside but crispy fried on the outside!
N. R. R.
AMAZING!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. I went here for my bday. The potato heaven is basically mashed potatoes with melted cheese and potato wedges, topped with scoops of cream cheese and sweet chilli sauce - extremely tasty, and very filling too. The chicken tasted very different from the other korean fried chickens I've had - much richer and extravagant in taste. Much more expensive than other regular stores, but verrryyy worth it. Just, the flavour, wow! The staff are very friendly, and it has a very welcoming atmosphere. There are tables and chairs to dine in - pretty decent amount. However, it may get crowded during popular times. Good lighting, sets the mood for eating.
M. R.
Quite an amazing execution of the Korean fried chicken, sauce and beer. The chicken is freshly cooked, juicy and the sauce is amazing. This by far the best among the Korean fried chicken restaurants in Melbourne.
Highly recommend booking for Friday or Saturday nights - it can get quite busy and the wait for a table can be very high.
W.
Gami is a chain of restaurants specialising in fried chicken. The one in Little Lonsdale Street has a small shop front. On the ground floor there are only a few tables but there are more upstairs. As there were ten of us we managed to try the chicken with sweet chilli, honey mustard and spicy sauce. We also had the cheese corn and seafood and spring onion pancake. The cheese corn was very cheesy. I could taste the spring onion in the pancake but the seafood was not prominent. The sauces on the chicken were quite sweet and because we ordered the chicken coated with the sauces the skin was not crispy. The spicy sauce is quite hot (on a scale of 1-10 around 8) so I would caution you from ordering it if you can't take the heat. The dishes are reasonably priced with a whole chicken costing around $35.
K. Z.
Crispy chicken and good seafood pancake. Worth a visit!
C. S.
Absolutely delicious food and great service. Get food here more than I’d like to admit but that’s just how good it is. Highly recommend
B. H.
best fried chicken ever in melbourne, although sometimes crowded at night
P. F.
This place has surprisingly good vegetarian options considering the name 'Chicken and Beer'. I enjoy the pan-fried vegetable dumplings, kimchi pancake, and the cheese corn melt. While picking a dinner place, I often suggest for my friends to go here and grab dinner with beer. My friends get lots of chicken that they seem to like, and I enjoy my options, everyone wins!
A. G.
Best fried chicken. Period.
The meat is succulent, the basting juicy and flavourful, and the flavours abound. Highly recommend the spicy one if you can handle Asian spicy - there is no parallel around.
L. J.
Best . Lookin out for Fried Chicken? With some Korean liquor. Wow!
This is a gem. You might find it a bit difficult to get a place around the weekend or maybe some nights during weekdays. Trust me once you do it's a hell of an amazing place. Their spice is just lovable.
V. Y.
Made a booking for a large group and they could accommodate us upstairs which was nice. It was a larger place than we thought. Chicken was very good and it was all great value shared among many people.
H. K.
Reasonably priced. Chicken is more juicer and less oily than other places. Love the condiments that come with the chicken. Lunch menu is cheaper and pocket friendly. Welcoming staff
J. P.
Chicken was very very tasty, if a bit pricey relative to other fried chicken joints. Staff were quite accomadating as well. Only real complaint was that the music might have been a bit too loud, but other than that fantastic.
V. T.
Full of disappointment, have been waiting for 30 mins to be seated. We ordered the soy garlic and spicy.
The spicy is not spicy at all.... And the chickens are not even crispy...
Note: to all Christchurch ( new Zealand ) people, we have a much better place by the church corner called Monster Chicken.... Just saying
N. M.
Bad service, noisy place and average side menus, but the fried chicken is delicious, and that should be the only thing that you go to Gami for! (Or you can do takeaway and save on all the other bad services)
I don't quite understand why they serve you exactly 17 pieces each time. Sure it's because they want to emphasize that they use 17 herbs to make the seasoning, but it causes a lot of unnecessary stress for groups who try to work out who gets the last piece of the silly prime-numbered pieces.
K. B.
Consistently amazing Fried Chicken. Combined with Korean beer, this is the perfect combo.
Gami's is a place best enjoyed with friends as it means you can try the various sauces they put over the chicken.
L. L.
Their fried chicken is super crispy, and it fits so well with the sauce. The seafood pancake is also good though not the best. If possible, avoid soft drinks because it's a little bit pricy.
s. k.
What's not to love about chicken, chips and drinks? It might sound simple but get it wrong and it's terrible, get it right and it's amazing. 😍 We clearly ordered too much for just the 3 of us but they allowed us to take it away to savour for later. The staff are as always, courteous and charming as they greet and farewell each customer. Once you try gami chicken, you might really struggle to eat KFC like me (unless you have a boozey night and nothing else but the usual late night suspects are open). One thing I need to mention about gami chicken: even though their chicken is fried, it doesn't have that awful aftertaste and oily feeling that you can sometimes achieve after eating any fried takeaway interesting 🤔... also, their chips are crazy good: sweet yet salty and even though I'm full, I just want to keep eating them if they're there staring at me. 🤤 I've been eating at gami for years now at the various locations around melbourne. All of them are pretty consistent. Highly recommend. 👌🏼😋
H. J.
Best of it's kind for their chicken. The sauces are an absolute ultimate that top the meal every time, can't get enough of them.
T. T.
Great korean fried chicken joint. I prefer this shop to the other one as it looks cleaner and has more seating. I also recommend trying the potato heaven if you're feeling like something carb heavy and dirty.
P. P.
Yum !! If your after Korean fried chicken this is a must go to place !! Every time we head down to Melbourne we'd go here for a feed !! They have finally opened one in Sydney but it still doesn't taste the same as Melbourne!!
D. P.
Came here very late after a concert and the chicken was as delicious and was fresh as ever! Staff very polite, overall great experience. Very casual joint, perfect for a quick bite of chicken after work or while on the run.
M. T. C.
Missed five stars by a whisker. Maybe next time?
The food was a treat. We know a little about Korean so went with the spicy fried whole chicken. Very tasty indeed. People around us (Koreans galore!) seen to have ordered across the menu, and it all looked great. Pro tip: go with friends, be prepared to get messy, try everything. That's our plan for next time, and a significant number of Melbourne-based Koreans appear to agree.
Customer service: top. We had some confusion and ended up changing takeaway to dine-in. No reservation at a busy time, Friday night during the Australian Open. All accommodated by a charming gent who sorted us with ease, despite the pressing crowd and waves of customers pressing him for help. Same on the way out - easy and pleasant service in what must have been fairly trying circumstances.
The only real shortcoming is the loudness of the venue. It has its charms, the loo is clean and so were the tables . . .but by Godfrey it was loud. And, maybe, minus .00000001% for not being offered any kimchi. Didn't need it but was still surprised not to get any.
We ended up with four made-to-order meals worth of food and a couple of beers for less than $45 bucks. In Melbourne, January 2018, that's not bad value.
Well worth your consideration.
p.s. more of a restaurant than fast food - leave yourself time to enjoy it.
G. S.
Korean fried chicken - can't really go wrong. Probably a bit saucier than I would have liked but still good. The other dishes are okay but go nuts with the chicken... just don't think about the calories.
M. B.
If BBQ chicken is your thing then Gami should satiate your cravings. I had the sweet chilli chicken and loved it. The menu is very simple, but that lets Gami provide a consistent experience with a well understood selection that should please every time.
R. G.
Friendly staff, good tap beer, correct price, recommended for chicken lovers
J. D.
Excellent food, changing the air conditioning filter while we were eating didn't add to the experience. Wait staff were unable to explain what ingredients were used in one if the dishes. Difficult to check for allergens as a result.
V. H.
Delicious korean fried chicken. Easily the best in Melbourne CBD. Sauces are tasty. The beer is quite average though. Fairly expensive at $35 a bowl of chicken however, but large enough to split between two.
B. S.
Great in a large group, less so in a small 2-3person crew. The fried chicken is great, the beer is value, overall it's a simple proposition, and delivered well.
M. C.
The chicken was delicious, I wasn't sure about the dessert but definitely it was flavorsome
J. C.
This is the place to go for Korean chicken and beer. Get a big group, book a table upstairs and order lots of the boneless chicken and beer. That's the perfect recipe for a good time!
A. A.
If you are craving some fried chicken and are tired of KFC - probably give Gami fried chicken a go. Warning - it is pretty expensive so not something you'd want to eat regularly.
I did find a unique flavour in the chicken specially with the spicy sauce but there wasn't much flesh and it was pretty much bones.
Note - price wise - there are many other options in other restaurants out there.
T. H.
Great food and very friendly!!
C. C.
Food is great! However they should fire the male employee who sounds like he has a fist up his ass and can't wait for a good thrusting. He can't even help someone make a reservation without sounding pissed and angry. Date he answered the phone and sounded like a absolute dick was Tuesday 23rd of March 2016.
a. c.
Gami is a great place for dinner with friends. Their chicken are so good. The sauces are sweet and sticky, perfectly coated the crispy korean style chicken. This is my favourite gami shop so far
J. C.
Not a fan of fast food giant KFC. Thought this Korean KFC would be different. Original Chicken tasted as if they have cracked the secret to the spice mix from the Americans.
Nevertheless the combo of beer and fried chicken is a winner.
M. U.
Had my first date with my bf here and food is still amazing!
D. C.
First time eating at Gami the chicken came out piping hot and fresh looking delicious. I would recommend the Honey soy garlic chicken tasted Great!
H. C. T.
Great chicken and worth it.
E. S.
Had a wonderful experience out for dinner at Gami tonight. Chicken and Beer. You can't beat it☺. Special mention to Nicola and Han who made the night that much better with their kind guidance and happy disposition. Also the boys in the kitchen who produce such consisrantly yummy dishes. All round a great
night out😊
f. a.
Massive potions!!! But taste really good. If you couldn’t finish don’t worry they will give you doggie bag. You must eat chicken. And as side toopogi or corn cheese was good. With beer ... yum that’s the best combo.
S. S.
Original, honey soy is best. Potato heaven is yummy. The Mala flavour chicken need a lot of improvement.
J. W.
Hands down to one of the best fried chickens and house beer, it makes you having kfc seems like a joke. Dining area is not spacious and noisy but you'll have a good time there with a group of friends.
S. M.
Korean fried chicken and beer, a perfect combination. Food is consistently good and good price too. If you plan to come here on a Friday be sure to book and turn up on time.
s. p.
The food was so good. I loved their potato heaven the most; super delicious!!
N. L.
The fried chicken flavour was mild and the seafood pancake had very little seafood. The chicken was fried very well though.
j. r.
One of the original Korean fried chicken restaurants in Melbourne. Recommended by Korean friends, it's got a good variety of flavours and well priced. Also exclusive beers on tap!
R. T.
I love Gami but recently they changed music which sucks. I didn’t feel any vibes since they chose wrong concept of music to represent their brand.
Apart from that I still love Gami chicken, hopefully they change their music soon.
Doesn’t matter it is Kpop or not but current music doesn’t really match with them.
R. Z.
Ordered takeaway and everything was packaged very well and all the sides were included. The chicken tasted impeccable- some of the best KFC I've tasted. Would come back!
P. G.
Delicious chicken! Simple menu. Ordered boneless kimchi pancake,Spicy and sweet chilli chicken - amazing falvour. Great beer choice too.
A. P.
Forget KFC ... this is the fried chicken you have been looking for ... it's so so good. Great spicy option if you are into that too. Their house beer is decent too, for the price.
B.
Has been eyeing off gami for a while and the quaint little lonsdale venue with some colleagues was an excellent choice. Basic food done really well some interesting dishes and really quick service. These have popped up all over the place and especially in some prominent shopping centers like Epping and eastland. Loved it
J. D.
The chicken was delicious and came in massive serving sizes. Great place to share a plate with friends. The biggest downside was the limited flavours available.
M. M.
the best fried chicken I've tasted. recommend booking a table as there are only a few in there and you wouldn't want to arrive to be disappointed or a long wait.
S. N.
Very very hot chicken served. Even though i eat a lot of spicy food, i cannot handle the hot chicken in gami. Good place to hang out with friends. Food is served hot and Fast.
D. M.
Great chicken and good food. First timers should try half and half sweet chilly and soy garlic. Quantity is generous too so over all a good experience.
J. W.
The chicken is really good. I had an awesome birthday there :) Give it to me I'm worth it.
PS. They do stripteases if you tip them highly enough ;);)
D. C.
We went here as a group, the service was great and patient considering how many we were, it was my first time eating Korean food and I can say it was a good introduction.
You get here by either public transport or car, there is some parking nearby.
A. M. I.
Regular for more than 3 years, today’s chicken was not the same. It is much smaller and full of bones.
A. D.
Food was fantastic here. Had wings in many different styles. All were good. Creamed corn was also an excerpt choice! Will hopefully go back again.
J. R.
Love this place. Always go with a big group and order a few types of fried chicken and an Oak barrel of beer.
Hard to beat! Don't bother going if you don't like a heap of meat and beer - try somewhere else.
D. Z.
Awesome chicken! I don't really understand people complaining about service. Just go there and eat awesome korean chicken! If your partner doesn't talk to you all night it's not a good reason to be salty with on the internet. Grow up people!
姜.
Perfect chicken beer and service !
D. B.
Always love this place. Awesome chicken! And fast!
The staff are always friendly and helpful for those first timers.
M. S.
Best. Chicken. Anywhere. Spicy and the sticky sweet (mildly spicy) choices are the way to go, and the beer is icy cold and hits the spot.
p. n.
One of the best chicken and beer places I've been. Great for a big group. Corn cheese is a must try
R. E.
Yummy fried chicken and very interesting cheese corn.
L. P.
Been going to gami for years to get my Korean fried chicken fix. Always tasty chicken with beer, crispy but juicy on the inside.
D. K. M.
The man I dealt with was amazing. There was a little misunderstanding but he was very accommodating. Amazing service and even better food
K. M.
Food was incredibly delicious! Apart from the chicken, there's also this potato wedges and cheese dish which was simply amazing.
j. l.
good food and chit chat with friend
R.
Best fried chicken in town!
A. S.
A pretty nice place but downstairs is a little bit small so waiters and waitresses walking around makes you feel a bit uncomfortable.
L. K.
Very tasty chicken and good price. Only problem is this place too small. Hard to get a walk in table
S. D.
Best fried chicken that I have ever had. The chicken is nice and crispy. Always busy tho
S. (.
Never disappoints. Love Gami.
P. L.
chicken + beer combo is good. chicken itself was great. DONT get the boneless chicken though. get the wings. so much more worth it. the tteok-bokki is the best.
S. M.
Awesome fried chicken and beer. What a great combination! I can't believe this is a chain. I've visited a few locations already.
C. M.
Never get enough of that fried chicken...and beer. We had a young guy serving us that was just fantastic. Attentive, funny and just the right amount of cheeky.
R. W.
Wonderful Korean friend chicken place with tender and succulent fried chicken. The Soy Garlic sauce was superb on the fried chicken!!
k. k. k.
Chicken not so crispy and tasty. Don’t order kimchi pancake, it really wastes your money. And the salad really sucks.
B.
Great hangout spot to have Korean fried chicken. This place definitely sets the standard for good Korean fried chicken.
H. P.
Love this place. Great food. Great beer. Great venue. Great service. This is the only Gamis I'll go to the other venues aren't as good.
J. W.
Chicken met the standards. Posdibly the best spicy seafood soup in town. Don't forget to order the 4000ml beer with your chicken.
L. M.
Excellent food and excellent beer, The guy that served us was super friendly and helpful!
Y. H. S.
Tasty fried chicken served consistently well every time. Always made to order. Bookings are often required.
R. P.
The restaurant my wife and I love going to, the best Korean fried chicken I've had so far.
W. F.
Best fried chicken I have had. Go with a group so you can try all the flavours!
R. S.
Little cramped, and noisy, however the food was fast, hot and incredibly tasty. I would brave the busiest of serving times for the food on offer.
J. T.
Always the go to place for beer and fried chicken. Can't get enough of that sweet chilli. Truly finger lickin' good!
B. P.
Delicious fried chicken, big portions, fast service and good prices. Decent beers on tap also at a good price.
W.
Amazing food! Highly recommend the corn cheese, soy garlic and original flavoured chicken wings.
J. H.
One of the go-to lunch spots. Great tasting chicken and good service.
Can often be a long wait at peak times.
E. S.
Amazing, prepare to Max out for on chicken, all flavours are epic. Could go hotter on the hot sauce, but really totally worth it.
T. A.
Tastes pretty good, famous for its korean fried chicken
Good atmosphere, gets pretty full as it doesn't take many ppl
Quite pricy
Service is okay
V. k.
Great food, good service, resturant was clean, excellent value for money
S. T.
You have to have the potato heaven.. honestly you wont be disappointed. Chicken was chicken.. customer service was warm and welcoming.
M. E.
Food is great as always. However I wasn't aware that it isn't child friendly. Child seats were not available. It is probably my fault for not checking.
J.
Go with friends... cheap, quick and delicious! A half-half plate will feed 3 people easily and the beer on tap is great!
J. I.
A great experience! The food was awesome and the service excellent 👍 Highly recommended for a small get together of friends.
I.
Fantastic fried chicken. As good as anything I've had anywhere. Would eat there everyday if I could.
Y.
Gami has fried chicken that KFC can only dream about. Be sure to book a table if it's a Friday or a weekend.
H.
I really liked the spicy chicken and the garlic soy chicken. Was a little dissapointed that they did not have soju bombs there.
R. T.
If you're looking for some fried chicken, this is the place! Always delicious, always amazing.
A. B.
We had the spicy and soy garlic chicken. It was fresh and crispy. Really great.
K. G.
Great fried chicken and cheap beer, great as a launching pad for a night out. Again beer and fried chicken, how can you not like this place.
Y. P.
I like it. If you like spicy dishes, this should be on your check list. But the chicken is too sweet
C. L.
The servers don't care customers. They didn't give us menu and people are waiting but didn't care .. And very noisy there with noisy music
A. B.
Gami is fantastic, great fried chicken and cheap beer! Add a bottle of soju to your jug if you like to live dangerously.
D. O. J.
The fried chicken was exceptionally good, and the service outstanding! Highly recommended...
B. Y.
Delicious fried chicken and beer. Warning: you will need a shower after eating here because it's so dirty and delicious
A. A.
Food was good but not really any better than any other korean fried chicken stores
O. W.
Great fried chicken, that's it though. Poor service, no real sides. Korean fast food
T. L.
Enjoy the food and welcoming service. Chicken was tasty and the corn cheese was so yummy.
D. S.
Great tasting chicken with a variety of condiments. It was great for a group lunch during the week.
N. W.
Yummy, but not equal to all the hype. (good quality chicken used though which is nice considering not many places use good quality anymore)
A. H.
Love the chicken and beer, and nice service as well! Decent prices. Keep up the nice work!
M. C.
Great chicken, and the potato side dish is an excellent combination, snacks were also very good
G. C.
LOVE IT!
B. C.
Do not order seafoood pancake. you ll get mostly fried dough for 17 or 18 dollars.
P. D.
Very nice chicken!
B. C.
Fairly good Korean fried chicken. Mustard sauce is a little too watery.
C. H.
If you like crispy battered chicken, this in your kinda place! Also the lunch service was super fast and friendly.
R. O.
Simple menu - the perfect cheat meal! Korean fried chicken and beer. How could you go wrong!
K. H.

M. G.
Just love the food here, the kimchi pancake is amazing and the chicken is yumm
A. E.
It's always best to go with a group of friends so you could order wide range of foods(fried chickens).
L. W.
The fried chicken is pretty good but for how much they charge there are better fried chicken places
J. B.
Always craving Gami chicken and cheesy corn 😍 but only on weekdays. (Weekends are too busy to grab a table 😣)
B. Z.
Really good place to go with friends - chicken is always consistently good - and plenty of soju.
J. L.
Good food and service, although should provide disposable gloves with their korean fried chicken
B. D.
Great night out for the family, everything was very quick (service, ordering, food) would visit again
c. f.
Good food. Nice for large groups. Share chicken is great.
J. V.
Excellent place to catchup with friends. Food is good priced and yummy, beer is good as well. Recommended!
A. L.
Chicken was pretty crispy. I felt it was a bit too saucy though which might take away from the chicken flavour.
d. Y.
Soy garlic chicken is awesome!!
T. P.
We got the boneless mix of soy garlic and sweet chill. It was really good!
M. G.
Not the cheapest joint in town but you certainly get what you paid for. The boneless fried chicken is just awesome!
G.
Tasty spicy chicken. Definitely worth a check out. Friendly service
E. S.
Good food, a bit pricy for what you get but overall a good fun experience
A. S.
The quintessential Korean Fried Chicken joint. Amazing chicken, good beer. Zero complaints.
J. k.
the best korean fried chicken in Aus! must try the spicy sauce!! 10/10
D. P.
Perfect for groups. Bone tastes better but boneless is easier to eat.
N. C.
Only 3 veg options, fried dumplings, salad and fries. Looks good for chicken guzzler
R. A.
This place has good service and is cool, but the food is very heavy and drenched in sauce... not for the weak of heart...
M. W.
Great food, friendly, helpful service, and you have to try the house beer, one of the best craft beers I've had on tap in a long time.
C. K.
Good taste of Korean chicken if you are looking for fast food with cold beer... 😋😋😋
A. C.
Delicious Korean BBQ with a cheap menu . Only downside is the minimal seating and that the atmosphere is lacking
T.
10/10 chicken, good service
G. R.
Great chicken. Highly recommend the boneless chicken with spicy or sweet sauces.
R.
Chicken was well cooked and staff were friendly

K. Y.
I AM ADDICTED TO GAMI CHICKEN! I love it. But It's a bit pricey for chicken though...
S. S.
Not bad. But don't know why so many people recommend this restaurant. It shouldn't be the best in Melbourne.
R. P. (. P.
Boneless fried chicken and beer. They go together like peas and carrots, albeit with less nutrients
H. C.
Quick service and delicious food, but the staff were not very friendly.
k. f.
The soy and Garlic is amazing, and the chips beat any other

J. G.
Quick and friendly service, great portion size, delicious chicken.

L. H.
