Reasonably fresh seafood, particularly love the wide selection of menus. I like the fact that they have fish with salad as a set when I don’t feel like eating carbs, it’s becoming my go-to set. Nice portions as well.

I have never ordered b4 from Hunky Dory. I did so tonight using doordash for delivery. I ordered flake, chips, potato cakes and dim sims. Flake was nice and moist and batter nice and crisp. Chips great, same with the potato cakes. My order was delivered in a cardboard box with lid and foil on the bottom. Everything was great and not steamed and soggy like it is when they are put in a flimsy white box and then put in a white paper bag. I will be definitely ordering from them again.

Ordered Hunky Dory takeaway with my partner. We wanted something that would be delivered quickly and HD did not disappoint. ‘Fishless’ fish - my partner wanted to try these as he was curious. He stated that it tasted like fish but a low quality one kind of like the fish you’d find in a frozen fish finger. Hunky bowl with grilled fish - nice and not too heavy for an evening meal. Would’ve liked more veg and less rice as more than half the bowl was rice.

Fresh Off the Old Fisherman’s Boat Unique Dish: Juicy Grilled Salmon - Crisp on the thin exterior - tender inside. Each molecule bursting with spice and sea. My 1.5 year old toddler homie are banging those hot thick chips into his mouth like there's no tomorrow. Best Deal: Large Chips at ~$10 only enough for a Gigantic Footie Champion. 2 Big Fish Fillets with Carbs and Salads for under ~$25 is a steal. Food: Generous Portion size. Belly Filling. Good amount of Meat & Chips. Crunch Salad with Dark Green Leaves with tangy taste of fresh citrus lemon. Love the QQ rice base. I give it 5 / 5 stars. I will definitely try different dishes & drinks next time as they all look tasty. The food is fresh, delicious and I love that they have grilled packs instead of just fried. I also keep ordering from here because they have options that have salad instead of chips. I can’t stand chips and that is always my issue at other restaurants, it just goes to waste. I much prefer the rice or salad options.

Nice, bright and clean fish and chips shop. Not your traditional dingy fish & chips shop either, this is more like casual dining. A few things annoy me like there's no bacon to add to a burger, the panko crumbed fried fish is delicious but not on the menu (you can only get it in the fushburger) and fish bites can be a bit small for $1.60. But other than that, clean-ish eating with great service 😋

We ordered a number of calamari packs and the couscous sale for dinner tonight. The food was soo fresh and extremely delicious. The guy who answered the phone was more than happy to help us figure out what will be enough food. The service was quick and we were left very full and satisfied! Easily hands down the best fish n chips I’ve ever had - I know huge call! But ordered last night in Oakleigh after some friends recommend this place and I was not let down. Everything freshly cooked to order and the fish was amazing! Great portions for the price too. I’ll be back that’s for sure!

Great spot for a fancier version of the classic fish and chips. Located on the Oakleigh strip it's a convenient and fun modern venue - staff welcome you and seat you quickly. You do need to order at the counter - I guess you can't have everything :) but the prices are reasonable for mid level eatery. We got the "Coupled Up" menu selection to share and wow, the portion was Epic. Easily could have served three to four people - mainly on the chips side. But even the potato cakes were not the tiny versions but the large grandiose options you can find. The staff are attentive and pop by regularly to see if everything is okay. Enjoyed the meal and experience - will be back again, I might bring friends next time to tackle the sheer volume of chips.

Absolutely love having dinner at Hunky Dory Oakleigh! The seafood is cooked perfectly and never disappoints. The store has a friendly ambience and very accommodating staff - they are super friendly and make dining in relaxing and enjoyable. The servings are very generous and the fish is always so fresh and full of flavours. My go to order is the Grilled Seafood Salad or the Panko Burger, while my partner swears by the Latino Grilled Fish pack. We absolutely love eating here- maybe a little too much! Great value for money. Servings are very generous and fish is well cooked. Took one star off because rice was lukewarm and gluggy. Go for the chips instead. Try the sweet potato wedges too. Absolutely delicious.
