M. H.Fantastic cocktails and such friendly staff. There chefs really know there trade well. The steak was beautifully prepared and presented extremely well on the plate. We had three different cut of meat and they were all cook to perfection.

Sheyenne, Daniel and Nancy made sure the lunch event went so smoothly. Their customer service exceeded my expectations. They were on point, helpful and friendly to all guests.
The staff also helped me to setup the venue perfectly. I was just floored when I arrived to see how beautiful it all came!
The food was amazing and so beautifully present from the yummy canapes to the plated meals! Our guests were so happy and left full.
I'd also like to thank the Chef for presenting our wedding cake so beautifully with fresh berries and cream.
As a bride with a hospitality and events background, I would highly recommend Locanda for any events in the future.

I. S.Locanda restaurant is located on the ground level of the Rydges hotel. We tried both breakfast and dinner menus and were extremely satisfied every time we had meal. Service was great, nice atmosphere and a great meals selection available on the menu. The dishes we tried were well-balanced with a great combination of high quality ingredients. The highlight of the night was the wine suggested by the waiter. Kids meals were good too. one of my kids had cheeseburger with chips and it was delicious. The other meal was margarita pizza, which I think could have been better: mozzarella was of a high quality, but it was just not enough of it and pizza ended up being too dry. Main meals were good and side dishes had a variety of healthy selection. Kids meals included drink, main and dessert for $15. Overall restaurant prices were what I expected.

The room itself was absolutely gorgeous, we could have left it as is (but I would recommend a couple of floral arrangements and some candles to anyone wanting to do something similar)
It was a very affordable evening as well and we felt as though we weren’t taken advantage of just because we were celebrating a wedding.

L. B.Like the hotel, this is actually 3.5 stars as there were a few points of redemption.
Overall food quality is good but needs to be a lot more up-front with dietary information and provision. My wife and I had breakfast included with our stay and did wonder what was available for vegans.
Soya milk is available for cereal but pastries are a no-go. In terms of cooked food, the beans, tomatoes, and hash browns are all vegan. Tasty as well! The mushrooms are cooked in butter, which is a big shame as they have lovely chunks of slow-roasted garlic.
There is no dairy-free butter (!) available, but at least the white and brown bread is vegan. There's peanut butter, at least. The bowl of avocado is covered in chunks of feta cheese, which sucks. We were able to request our own bowl of avo, which went a long way to a good brekkie. Needs seasoning though!
The coffee is actually legit excellent and they make a lovely flat white with soya milk. This is worth a star on its own!

The lovely Parisian waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to our dietary needs. The snapper with fennel was really good! The fish was flaky and the fennel was neither mushy nor hard as a rock. Chicken Saltimbucco was delicious-not overcooked. The ingredients of the caprese salad were vibrant tasting and visually appealing. We highly recommend!!

S. H.Wow. What a wonderful experience! Arguably one of the best nights out we have had.
We stayed upstairs at Rydges and bought a package with dinner included. Given it was a two course meal that came with the hotel, we were expecting an average quality dinner.
From the moment we walked in, staff were wonderful and attentive. We were seated and drinks brought over promptly. My partner is coeliac and they were very knowledgeable and happy to provide information on the gluten-free options available.
We ordered the calamari to start, and both agreed it was one of the best we've ever had. Great flavour, light and not greasy, and tasted fresh.
We both decided on the chicken saltimbucco for our main and the standard was just as high. I get full quickly and usually leave something on my plate but it was just too good, and a great portion size. Whatever the sauce was, it was perfect, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The tiny basket of handcut chips really went well with it too, just a handful of them was really all that was needed.
We finished off with a creme brulee to share, and the flavours were amazing! Not even sure what the fruit was on top but they complemented each other perfectly.
Special shout out to Anita, our waitress, who was soooo lovely. She really did complete the experience. It's unusual these days to get such incredible food and outstanding service to match. The whole experience really made our night very special, so thanks so much to the team and the chef's for their wonderful meals and service. We can't wait to come back.
Also returned for the buffet breakfast which was very well done also.
k. s.My husband and I came here for dinner. The food was outstanding and delicious. We had calamari for entree, steak and pan seared fish for main and tirumusu and creme brulee for dessert. The only disappointment for me was an $18 cocktail which was mainly made up of blocks of ice. Honestly if your going to charge that much at least make it with crushed ice and add more volume..
P. S.With the assistance of Molly, we hosted my parent's 25th year wedding anniversary at the venue.
Food was exquisite and was more than enough to keep all the guests well fed.
With a beautiful ambience and decor, it certainly left quite the impression on the guests who seized the opportunity to take thousands of photos.
Thank you to Molly & the team for a memorable night. No doubt we'll be back soon, even if it's just for dinner!

S. J.Locanda has a fantastic breakfast spread with a great selection for in house guests of Rydges and the general public as well. The coffee is great as is the service and the staff in general. It also offers excellent food and service for the evening meal. It is somewhere that I have recommended to other people and a place I will continue to frequent.

My brother had his wedding here on the weekend. They have excellent customer service, the set up of the restaurant is beautiful. Unfortunately a couple of dishes were not as nice as the others.
m. A.Locanda Deli Private Dining - What a wonderful space to hold a dinner for a group of professionals. The food and service was first class, and as the host I was kept up to date the entire night throughout the dinner service. Janelle the event manager was an absolute pleasure to deal with, and was always at hand to assist leading up to the night.
C. E.Dinner last night was lovely. The Parma was gorgeous, although, the fries had so much garlic they were literally inedible.
The dessert we had was to die for though!

N. C.As far as hotel breakfast buffets go, this one more than easily holds it own. It has all of the usual hot and cold fare, like toast and condiments, scrambled eggs and eggs made to order, bacon, chicken sausages, sauteed mushrooms (cooked in plenty of garlic!), tomatoes, waffles and cooked-to-order pancakes, cereals and fruit, juices and some Asian dishes, like rice congee. Pastries and cold meats as well. Much more as well.
There is self-serve coffee and tea behind the bar. Otherwise, if you order any 'normal' coffee or hot chocolate, you have to pay $3.50. That loses a star for me, as most other hotels offer coffee, tea and hot chocolate complimentary. Service is friendly and can't be faulted.

Our table was left cluttered with wine glasses we didnt use and noone came to check on us or clear our table. We ended up paying and walking out before desert came. Only reason its a 3/5 is because the staff were very nice and took dessert off the bill.
Overall wont be returning.

Ana Majkovska took my booking 2 weeks prior and took the time to make sure everything was handled appropriately and kept me informed of costs and menu selections. the restaurant itself is elegant and extremely comfortable. Everyone who came with me felt the same and could not fault a thing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. we all gave locanda a 10 out of 10. Thank you for a memorable day.

B. A.A mixed impression. We came for a pre theatre meal and for $39 for 2 courses and $49 for 3 courses, prices are quite reasonable. The customer service is very formal, but commendable and expected for such a setting. For entrée we had pork belly and fried calamari. Pork belly was tasty, but small, and the parsnip puree tasted a bit like lard. Calamari were very well done and in excellent quantity served in a dim sum steaming basket. Mains we had lasagne, cooked very well, and the Angus sirloin which was a bit thin and dry at medium rare. Chips that came with the steak were great. So I'm not sure. I think dishes are a bit hit and miss here. Clearly the pre theatre menu is designed to be quicker and easier, and the normal menu looks much more enticing. If I come back, it will be to try the normal menu

V.I've stayed at the Rydges many times over the past 5 years and I've always eaten elsewhere but the last few times I've had dinner at Locanda because I couldn't be bothered going out and I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality and service. I accept some of the food is on the expensive side but what do you expect from a restaurant of this quality in this location.
The only issue I have is the stupid bench seat with cushions or a metal pole in your back. I don't care how cool it looks, it's just uncomfortable.

J.Yesterday 27th June, went there for pre theatre $39 set menu & I must say I was extremely disappointed in my choices - I had the Classic Locanda Lasagne with besciamella sauce & parmesan cheese - well I didn't see any besciamella sauce - there was way too much meat sauce - pasta sheets on bottom were as tough as boots & not nice at all. I ordered it as I have had some great Italian Lasagne dishes & this wasn't one of them. My friend on the other hand had Fish of the day, with pumpkin puree potato & spinach gratin & parsnip crisps which he enjoyed, but it was mainly a piece of fish, with hardly any of the trimmings! Then sweets - I made a bad choice again - I had the Cherry Creme Brulee tart & it was nearly all pastry & my friend had the Mango Panna cotta which was nice. I won't be visiting again after that experience.

D. S.I went to the restaurant on Thursday for Valentine dinner. I found the place from google and urbanspoon which they gave a really good review of the place. This is why I decided to go with my girlfriend. However, I was very dissapointed! The manager of the restaurant ruined the night.
The service from the staff was great! Until the manager brought me the main meal. It was two steaks and I ordered medium to rare and my gf ordered med to well.
I worked in hospitalty, I really believe that it is the manager fault that has to ruin my main meal and my night. The chef did their best to cook it correctly but I can't believe it has to be the manager that ruin it. He didn't bothered asking the chef which one is which before he took the meal to our table.
The manager just put the steak on our table without mentioning which one which. I asked him which one which, all he said yup that one is yours. I asked again is this the medium one? Yup that one is the medium one. No, I ordered medium to rare, He said yup sorry that one is the medium to rare. (Obviously he doesn't know which one is which). After I cut the steak and had a view bite. I got the med to well and my gf got the med to rare. They gave the wrong one to us (They mix our meal). I told him that he was in the wrong. He said "sorry' and he just quickly swapped our meal I would have complain and ask for a new one. He was too busy chatting with other customers and had a laugh. (We ate almost half of our meal at the time when we swapped it). What makes it odd and funny is that the staff serve us better than the manager. Overall I will never go back to the place again. I don't know what it is.

This is a good italian restaurant on Melbourne's busy Exhibition Street, at the north of Chinatown.
We had a range of menu items to taste, including the beetroot cured Salmon with gold beetroot, fennel and burnt orange, and the Kingfish with tarragon infused kipler potatoes, sultana ragout and red wine jus.
They had a good selection of wines and my favourite dish was the eye fillet with cauliflower and roasted artichoke gratin, pistachio crumb, wilted spinach and peppercorn jus.
B. R.Steak night, steak was a good size but a bit chewy for medium rare. Only came with chips and a drink, they were really nice.

タバコが吸える貴重なバー、レストラン。レストランとして利用したことはないのですですが、店内はとても広く、比較的年齢層が高めなお客さんが多いかなと思います。まず若い方の利用者は少ないです。でも、ハッピーアワーはやっているし、タバコは吸えるので喫煙者の方は抑えておきたいお店ですね。少し入りづらいかもしれないし、1人での利用は少し気まずいかなという印象。また、アジア人の利用者も少ないため、行くなら友達と一緒のがいいです。喫煙場所は道路に面しているため、比較的見つけやすいかと思います。上の階がホテルになっているためか、ドレスコードや豪華な衣装を身にまとっている方がおおいため、高級感あふれるお店になってます。一度は行っておきたいですね。
