Great service 👏 good food even though we didn't like the beef, barely touched it and had to return because sauce tasted weird.
I got wrong flavored drink served but the waitress was actively willing to fix the mistake.
She took the beef back and asked if we want anything else. We ordered second round of pork belly and fish tacos 🌮 because they were delicious. Definitely recommended to have those.
Octopus was a bit plain but we still ate it. Corn on cob was good too. We didn't get charged for beef which is nice because we didn't eat it.
At the end, we were happily surprised that the second round of tacos were complementary as well even though we didn't ask for free food. So, well done on customer service 👏 thank you

Amazing! Will be back and try more stuff! Love the tacos and our server (long hair guy, sorry I forgot to ask your name) is so attentive and even make sure I was ok with the food as I’m pregnant! Marvelous! Top notch service. Also we did ask about their famous corn ice cream and he made it happen for us! Such an amazing dinner. Thank you again and again! He deserves a reward!

The food was fantastic, the cocktails were amazing (highly recommend the Mexican Mojito) and the service was exceptional! One of the absolute best restaurants in Melbourne with a great vibe. A++

Staff were wonderful. Great selection of wines. Atmosphere is lovely. Food was good at best, somewhat bland and quite disappointing. Beef taco was terrible with a weird tasting sauce (inedible), pork taco flavour was good but overly fatty and oily, lamb shoulder was quiet good, dessert served with the banquet was boring. The best thing we ate was the corn on the cob. I remember coming to mamasita some time ago and had great memories. After my recent experience I sadly wouldn’t be back. Such a shame for the staff as they are so lovely and professional.

Overall fantastic, only one drawback.
Entree: corn, delicious. Worth it.
Main: pork taco- tasty, but kinda oddly over greasy. A bit drowned in sauce/juices presumably from the cured onions
Drink: smoky margarita- just plain old solid.
Service: excellent. Fast friendly and attentive. Highlight.
Worth the visit :)

Absolutely fantastic, innovative food. Our party included 2 vegans, 1 coeliac and 1 person who eats everything and we were able to enjoy a delicious selection of shared plates together. Somewhere I will go again and again. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, even when adding the dreaded question “Is any of your wine vegan?”, which they were able to answer straight away and with confidence.

Delicious take home meal and Sangria to help us through lockdown. Mamasita set up an amazing pop up restaurant in our community, it was so well organised, great selection of food and drinks, which were all so yummy.
A. T.
Delicioso! What more can I say?
Tacos? Si. Mole? Si. Margarita? Si.
The food was amazing, couldn't ask for more flavour. The drinks were beautiful and packed a punch.
The staff were incredible, speedy and attentive. The space was beautiful, while the ambience made the experience unforgettable
Will return 100%

Ate here for the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival event, Surf & Turf matched with Tequila
Exceptional food and high quality service, was very impressed and will be back
Especially enjoyed the Tostada's and Taco's

Nice place tucked away on the high end of Collins st. Staff was attentive and very friendly. They have a small selections of beers but a great selections of cocktails.
Food was good but not mind blowing amazing.

I visited last night with a friend, and we did the $65 tasting menu, and I also got the popular Watermelon Margarita. Great value for $65, drinks were great, very authentic atmosphere. The highlight was definitely the service, really good, friendly attentive service on a quiet, rainy Tuesday night. Thanks very much Mamasita!
A. L.
Mamasita is a place that borders fine dining and casual dining; a little expensive but has a laid-back atmosphere, nice bar and an open kitchen. Food is amazing, especially the tacos. Recommended for date night :)

Seriously disappointed in our experience. I have visited this restaurant a few times in the early days and I’m afraid they seem to be resting on their reputation.
Of course, you expect to wait for your table these days, that wasn’t an issue. But when seated, the waiter spilt water all over one of our guests, a full glass. She rushed off, I thought to get some napkins, but then just milled around the bar. Didn’t come back. No help, no free drink, hardly an apology. He was locked into a booth so needed help, none came.
The first few courses of the banquet was the usual quality food you would expect. The male waiter was friendly and competent but just not that friendly. I asked for more dip chips and it came 20min later, for instance. Too late to make use of. No one seemed to want to connect with the customers - they slapped down plates, no smiles, no jokes. I was at Lucy Liu’s last week and it was fabulous in comparison!
Then main course arrived and the beef cheek was chewy and flavourless. The squid ink seafood, unremarkable. We asked for salt and pepper which didn’t really save it. I just didn’t eat mine which is a shame. We had 12 people and the mutual agreement was it was a disappointing experience.
Update: Thank you for the reply and I didn't know you took $200 off the drinks bill - that was a generous offer and I am sure Khent appreciated it as it was his birthday and he was paying. I also agree the pork and seafood tacos were superb as usual. I hope this was a one off and we can enjoy your fine Mexican once more.

I moved overseas and came back here to take my friend out for his 30th birthday and watched the Harry Potter play at the theater, so we ran over to Mamacita's for a quick dinner - we lined outside right before opening time (5PM opening time on Sunday) and there was already a good handful of people lining up!
That goes to show, this place is in high demand!
I haven't been here for several years now, and I had remembered the amazing quality of food, friendly staff and delicious sangria.
It's safe to say, I am amazed by their consistent high quality food after all these years!! Their staff are so lovely, helped explain the menu, were very patient and helpful.
We ordered many dishes to share, and sangria to wash it down! The staff asked if we were going to the theater and what time did we have to go back there - so our food was able to come out all at once (well as best as they could) and raised the priority of our order. I am so thankful and appreciated their attentive customer service!!
When I had visited in the past, they didn't take reservations, but guess what? They do now!! So don't waste any time, make a booking for your Tinder date.. your parents.. or your birthday dinner! It's well worth it, the cocktails look amazing, the food is top notch and the service makes the experience so pleasant.
I'll be back!

Small upstairs restaurant with good atmosphere. Didn’t have a reservation but read online that they save plenty of spots for walk ins—we were able to get a table for five but for exactly one hour and we were the first in line. Dinner felt rushed. Lots of gluten-free options however—most of the menu either is gluten-free or can be made GF. Elote was nothing special, in my opinion, as it tasted mostly like parmesan.
C. J.
Went there for a date. Food was fabulous without too many wine choices. Still love the vibe there!
J. L.
Very happy it's possible to book these days so we could get a table without the fuss of queuing. The food here is great - so much flavour from the exciting combination of ingredients. The big menu caters for diverse tastebuds and encourages sharing.
We ordered many dishes but the highlights were pork shortrib, macadamia and cashew chorizo Tostada and the perfectly crunchy fried fish tacos. Every dish was tasty and had fun textures.
Loved that we can see the food pictures using a QR code on the menu. Service was polite but not always quick, including forgotten drinks. The decor, lighting and salsa music creates a lively atmosphere. It's a place worth returning for the awesome flavours.
O. J. (.
Everything I have tried on the menu has been great. Great food, great drinks. Some seats are better than others but if you get a view out of the window it's pretty good. Friendly and professional staff who were genuinely helpful. A nice but not overly formal atmosphere. The one restraint in Melbourne I do not mind paying the premium for at all
M. Y.
I always enjoy coming back to this restaurant for nice Mexican. Can get quite busy but the food is always lovely. Would recommend the fish tacos (if available) and tequila cocktails.
覃.
Very good Mexican bar & restaurant, we order three tacos dishes: ox tongue, jackfruit and calamari, the calamari is just divine. Mixed green salad with salsa verde is also perfect. A bit pricey, but one gets what it’s paid for. Last but not the least, service is impeccable and welcoming.
S. S.
A Mexican inspired place that serves good food, great cocktails and wonderful attentive staffs. A great hidden gem, be sure to book in advance as they can get pretty busy. Overall a great place to wine and dine and chase down a tequila or two :)
G. B.
Best Mexican in Melbourne. We got the staff signature banquet which was so good because we got to try most of the menu and we all left there satisfied. The tequila is a must, try the corralejo. Thank you guys, loved vibe and service. Will be back next time.
K. S.
Have been here a few times over the years, and the only thing I always remember are the corn cobs. Though the main reason for the determent is the long queues as they don't take reservations. Recently tried the fish tacos (amazing!), Pork shortrib (better than ok, but not wow), the recommend shellfish was actually quite disappointing - taste of tomato sauce simply overpowered everything, and the jardinera quesadilla was also underwhelming. Surcharges on cards, so bring cash.
K. D.
Back to Mamasita after 3 years, new menu with some old classics like the corn (which is still amazing). The tostadas are now bigger and no longer “single” bites and the tacos are as good as ever. For me the ceviche lacked in acid and the beef cheek tostada needed another element and ate a bit to sweet from the mole.
Service is still excellent and the vibe as vibrant. You can book now which is a nice change for planning but also kind of strange. Since for years it was just the rule to come early to get on the list or to stand on the stairs ;)
J. R.
I went on Saturday for a birthday celebration. We paid a course meal and for the price (way too much) the food was really plain (tasteless) and not mexican at all. Lamb was overcooked, octopus just a small piece and vegetarian a rosted eggplant? And the ceviche We could taste just the coconut. It was a pity as we spent a lot and didn't enjoy the food. I went to the place because or the reviews, but definitely the main courses were disappointing.
H. L.
Went there at 3pm. Place had a good amount of people there but thankfully no wait. Delicious authentic mexican dishes but the bbq octopus had some bites that were reallyyy spicy. Their sangria and fish tacos were my favorites.
A. N.
Quality Mexican and good cocktails. I was dining by myself and sat at the bar.. The staff were all friendly and the vibe casual. Try the corn! It was recommended by the bartender I actually didn't realise corn could be amazing! The ox tongue and cheek tacos are also a big win! The ceviche wasn't fabulous but I think I just didn't like the type of market fish they used which regularly changes. I will be back to try everything else on the menu!
G. W.
Mamasita hosted a pop up and we enjoyed a take-away banquet at home. Loved every bite! Generous amount of food and the quality was maintained through the re-heating at home.
S. t. B.
It’s our go to place in the city when we have friends from interstate visiting. It’s a novelty as it’s so different from other Mexican restaurants and so Melbourne. We love everything we have tried and the sweetcorn ice cream is the best way to end the night.
R. W.
We were lucky enough to contribute in the Mamasita at home event during lockdown and it did not disappoint! All the food was so delicious and was provided in a way that made it so easy to prepare for serving. The Smokey margaritas were also a winner! Would definitely do this again if the opportunity comes up!
J. U.
The feed me (degustation?) menu was excellent.we took the mezcal pairing which went well with the food. The best part of the menu was the first (corn) and last items. Perhaps, the mains could have been better but for an average joe like me, it tasted excellent!
D. D.
Fun place to check out. Great for a date night as it is dim lit.
Tortilla chips were alright. Queso fresco definitely made them good but not an amazing dish (also not enough chips).
Chicharrón was also ok. The green sauce was definitely the better of the two.
Corn was really really good and the best of the appetizers.
The carnitas tacos and the pork quesadilla were the highlight of the meal along with the horchata. Get all of these and the corn and you won't be disappointed!
P. S.
On the higher end of Mexican cuisine, Mamasita serves fantastically spiced dishes with your favourite hot sauces. Loved the quesadillas!
The dimly lit ambience, bar and murals are perfect for Melbourne's hot summers and to chill the fiery flavours.

This review was a long time coming! (Kept forgetting sorry hahaha) We celebrated my partners 31st here and we all have such a great time! the service was amaazing, our waitress Drew was fab! Super attentive and great banter. Looved the whole experience. Big shout out to Miguel, Curtis, Frankie and Joe for super yummy food! Hope y'all enjoyed the cake!! ;) Thanks again guys! xx

Mamasita is a household name for Mexican food in Melbourne. Always crowded on the weekend and walk-ins only, so I would recommend coming before dinner rush hour. Corn on the cob and in the cup tasted different! The cup had some sauces besides the cheese and the powder on th cob. Queasadillas and tacos are light and tasty. Overall experience is great but comes at a slightly above average price. Expect around $35 pp.

Fantastic vibes once we stepped in. Jam packed with happy looking people, all chatting all laughing, almost all drinking.
Tried the Agua Chile of cured rockling. Had a nice texture of fish and the freshness and acidity from the lime curing solution made me able to eat a lot of it. The tacos and quesadillas were nice. The cheesy corn was superb. The chicken in pepite chile sauce with tortilla was a nice sweet main course.
Dessert was spectacular, had not had anything like it before. Tried the sweet potato dessert with almond ice cream. My favorite.
E. S.
As a student dining here led to a painful hit to the wallet, but damn was it worth it. Exceptional service (fun, friendly, quick and knowledgeable staff), nice location with a good cozy atmosphere. More importantly, the food was exceptional and the tequila shots were sublime.
Expect to spend upwards of $50 for a meal and a drink or two, I do feel it's a very justifiable occasional dinner though! I'm looking forward to my next visit!
C. K.
Our favourite CBD restaurant and luckily came to our suburb as a pop up on our wedding anniversary! Feed me menu at home was awesome. The team were well organised and slick when we picked up our food and the instructions and curated Spotify playlist really helped us feel like we were in the CBD on a night at without the journey home on a train! Well done team great good and experience even though we couldn't come to you?!
N. E.
Probably the best Mexican I have been to. Close quarters dining in well designed space. Staff were friendly with a fast paced service. We had one of the banquet options which is fully recommended. Each course had a unique take on the traditional Mexican dishes. Mad selection if tequilas for those who like that spirit.
K. N.
I’ve always loved Mamasita, but I was particularly impressed by their Heat at home banquet. Easy to follow instructions, delicious food and I loved the Spotify playlist to play along at home. It really made the whole experience very lovely. 🙏
M. J.
The tastiest tacos you'll find in the CBD! Ranging from Grilled calamari, Ox tongue, fried fish - all packed full of unique flavours and spices. Highly recommend the corn and ceviche as starters and short rib as a larger plate. If you're feeling extremely hungry, do the feed me!
T. C.
This is an amazing place for drinks and tapas. My favourite dishes are the tortilla chips, corn on a cob and chicken wings. Their fish dish and other mains are pretty good too. If you’re into mock tails, the Mama Colada is my favourite.
The staff are really nice, they’re happy to talk you through the menu. It’s a nice atmosphere, it’s busy and bustling... definitely give this place a try!
M. K.
Wide selection of mescal and tequilas, great cocktails. We loved everything we tasted. Interior design might be improved, but if you are there only for food and drinks 5-out of-5.
W. C.
Fantastic early dinner, we had the tasting menu and the food was deliciously fresh, Spicy, surprising and the staff were fabulous
T. D.
Wow, the food at Mamasita is amazing!! We had seven people at our table and all ordered the banquet option. The courses which came out just got better and better, leaving you wanting to come back again to try those items again or something new. They were also very willing to help one of our group who was lactose intolerant, and made sure he didn't miss out. Thanks for a great night. Make sure you book!
D. H.
Quite the experience! Food was incredible, waitress was even better. Knowledgeable and fun. Loved the place
S. L.
My mum and I visited this restaurant when it was super busy. Despite this, the service was excellent! The staff were super attentive and just lovely. The food was also excellent. We started out with the guacamole and it was incredible! I had the roast duck for mains and it was mouth watering. The only down side to this place is it was really dark but we did fine with our phone flashlights.
"The best guacamole I've had in all my 52 years!" - my mother
D. H.
I’m not sure if it’s new owners or not since lockdown. But last year the food was excellent. Today the food was relatively bland. The service was good though
R. N.
Corn on the cob is really nice and the best part of it. Only offered mushroom and fish tacos which was strange, they ran out of flank and pork belly...Coke was very flat. Lovely staff hence why I tipped them, however, understaffed as I was waiting 3-4 minutes to be seated and there was no line.
l. s.
Delicious but overpriced. The lenga tacos were the absolute best and the item that kept me coming back regardless of the high prices but they are no longer on the menu. :(
S. C.
The food was bland and needed salt. The guacamole was just smashed avocado with no seasonings. The wait staff was amazing
J.
We had the pleasure of experiencing the wonderful food of Mamasita last night. The Melbourne lockdown has hindered our access to dining with Mamasita. The pop up restaurant at Miss Kneady in Templestowe allowed us to again experience their flavour bomb of food from the comfort of our own home. Food was provided with a combination of ready made and simple reheating options, very clear instructions, and a Spotify playlist to create the restaurant atmosphere. Excellent job all round Mamasita Team!
T. L.
Amazing food and service. Had the Feed Me menu and it was delish and filling. Great value. Loved the corn and beef rib
A. K. (.
Authentic trendy Mexican restaurant. Always busy and thriving with people each night. Queues build up for dinner down the stairs but diners move through quickly. I had the crispy fish tacos, street corn and a beautiful (but spicy) Ling aguachile. A nice selection of mezcal and tequila options too. Highly recommended
K. D.
We love eating here. Firstly the staff are always amazing and passionate about the Mamasita experience. The food is hands down the best Mexican in Australia! We will be back again.. and again..
Tip: eat early if you don't want to wait! This place is packed ... We tend to arrive early, and not have to line up on the stairs!
Second tip: ask your wait staff ! They know the every changing menu inside out - let them explain it to you! We always discover new amazing dishes by doing this
Third tip: drink a cocktail ! Amazing the cream to this experience is what you are drinking whilst you are there
Z. W.
Brilliant tasty food and drinks every time. Top value and great service. Favourites for us include the pork tacos, fried fish tacos, cerviche and the ice cream at the end with the vanilla dessert tequila.
T. C.
I love mamasita. Fresh and tasty Mexican meals. Delicious margaritas that are way too easy to drink.
R. L.
Decent upscale place to enjoy Mexican food. Nice cocktails and Sangria. However it is priced on higher end ans food portions are small.
L. C.
Drew was the best, she take a good care of us tonight for my friends birthday, really funny personality and happy woman ❤️ Thank you so much again !! By the way the food was really good too !!
M. B.
Lovely location for dinner, food was delicious and wait staff were lovely. GST is not included in the menu price.
S. W.
Super friendly and lovely staff, and the food was delicious. I had a vegetarian taco, the street corn and plantain fries. Definitely recommend!
L. S.
Great food and great service! Worth the wait if required to do so. Definitely a place that lives up to its hype. The street style corn is a must!
T. B.
Great food and staff. First time here a friend invited me! Will be back with more people!
A. G.
Authentic but also some modern choices, atmosphere, service and food are exquisite! Must try once. Their menus change seasonally. The whole team really gives you a personalized experience!
C. V.
Best Mexican Restaurant in Melbourne! Love the vibe, the food and the amazing staff!
Margaritas are incredible! We have tried almost all the dishes on their menu, and our absolute favorite is the macadamia and cashew chorizo tostaditas! You have to try them! And, if you are a sweet tooth, you will love the Lemon and Lime Carlota! 😋
P. M.
We make a booking and everything goes well. The food fresh and nice, I love the corn with cheese 😋
L.
A Melbourne must visit!! The cocktails are great, and the tostadas are a must have, great flavours!
D. A.
Despite having been here for more than 6 years the quality and ambience of the place still holds a really bright, naturally lit space great for a catch up or work lunch break! Definitely worth the eye squinting experience of actually finding the stairs up to the place but great food all up with fresh ingredients.
F.
Pleasant atmosphere good food in bite size portions. Not your typical Mexican cuisine with some interesting dishes and flavours. This applies also for the beverages. Very friendly personnel. We were unlucky that some of our selected dishes were sold out. Worth the experience.
H. J.
I almost turned away when I saw the super cramped (standard) seating, but fortunately we got seats with some privacy in bar stools near the window. The food itself is great, service professional, cocktails perfect. Just wish the seating layout would be changed - more than 30 cm distance to the next table please!
B. Z.
Very flavoursome food. Serving sizes are not very large - good to try out a number of different dishes. Be warned, it is quite pricey.
S. S.
Best Mexican fiesta! Fun place to eat. Share tables! Most delicious food I haven had for a while! Close to public transport
t. s.
The quality of the food is just fantastic.. Service was really good and quick.. you can't go wrong with tacos or desserts.
T. s.
Nice Mexican…can be better with addition of few more vegetarian options….am sure it can do well…lil effort ….
L. E.
Food is fantastic however we had the feeling they were overstretched on the weeknight we visited.
Tables were extremely close together to the point where a member of waiting staff had to pull the table out for us to get in - I like a buzzy atmosphere but I did feel like we were dining with strangers.
We ordered guac and chips and corn for starters, but for some reason our mains came straight out before we'd even had our drinks. When we asked about why our starters came after the main, we were told there'd been a mix up with the receipts (?) and that our starters would be coming soon. To their credit, they gave us a free round of drinks once I expressed my frustration but the whole experience felt rushed and cheap unfortunately.
I do want to reiterate that the food we had was excellent, it was just the experience that let it down on this occasion.
G. H.
Very solid Mexican in a fun and lively setting. Lamb Quasadia was especially delicious, whilst the rest of the meal was great without being amazing.
Would definitely recommend.
D. R.
It’s the fancy Mexican that never disappoints. The margaritas are *the best*.
The food is geared towards sharing. The ambience is vibrant. Staff quick and efficient. Cool Mexican tunes make it Perfecto.
Yes, get the corn. And maybe the guac. Si.
I sometimes go solo and sit at the bar. The bar is awesome.
R. E.
My wife and I love this Restaurant! Everything on their menu is just amazing! We went there a friday night and even though it was very busy, the service was excellent! I would recommend this place a 100%!
A. L.
Strong line-up of authentic-ish Mexican classics. Great tequila, mescal and beer list and very good service. Eat lots, drink well and have lots of fun.
C. J.
Came for my birthday tonight and Drew has been fantastic. Really advice this place if you are after authentic Mexican food and good margaritas
S. T.
Decent Mexican Food...Limited Vegetarian options was a bit of let down...Corns were good...Nice Ambience...Good Service...Would appreciate if asked before adding donation to the Bill.
H. K.
Great taste, but serves could have been bigger.
d. v. r.
Finally managed to get into the restaurant, the starters were great, then came the mains and very very disappointed, the meat mains were okay, but the vegetarian main was literally quarter boiled cauliflower with sauce under and some beans in top. Felt like here we started great then lost interest
A. A.
Great place to catch up with friends over a bite to eat. The menu is nice & simple (designed to share easily if you want!) and the food is packed with flavour.
K. A.
The food is wonderful, and there are excellent vegan options. Watching the kitchen staff perform their culinary arts is fine entertainment indeed. The drinks are skillfully made, and I thoroughly recommend the Paloma if you fancy a cocktail.
However, while the setting is lovely, the seating is a bit of a squash. It's well designed, and great that it helps to fit lots of people in, but it's not the height of comfort. Service is friendly but not outstanding. We were left wondering what some of our dishes were. Paying a split bill was very challenging and I didn't find staff helpful.
N.
The vibe and food is amazing. The staff is very good and polite. The menu was a bit confusing for me but the staff helped me out to order the best things. Thank you and keep it up!
S. G.
Mamacita's "On the Road" Tour had them stopping by at The Last Piece in Wheelers Hill during Lockdown 6.0 and the Feed Me platter was so bloody good!
P. B.
Delicious! The corn on the cob and sweet corn ice cream are fantastic!
K. H.
Our experience was fine, but I definitely don't understand why there are lines here frequently. The corn was the definite highlight of the meal. The tacos were bland at best. We did enjoy our sangria despite waiting 20 minutes for it after ordering. With the variety of new, good Mexican restaurants in Melbourne now, we have better choices.
J. F.
un-desputedly the best mexican food in all of melbourne. It is great place to have some shots with friends and the food is unparalleled to anything else I have eaten. They service here is amazing... the waitresses are kind and alert so the maximum waiting time for ordering is 30 seconds and the food is prepared with best quality and takes under 10 minutes of waiting to be delivered to your table.
F. S.
Oh gosh !!! The food here is always insanely good !! I travel for business so sit at the bar. Order a mamasita mohito with the fish taco, lamb chop and the fries !!! It’s my go-to fav meal in Melbourne :)
K. C.
My opinion of this place may be weighed a bit too high, in that I can't think of anywhere else in Melbourne that offers some proper level of Mexican cuisine, which usually is represented by trash from various Tex-Mex inspired take-away joints. So if you want to actually eat Mexican, go here before you judge whether or not you like Mexican food. Staff are great, and the banquet options provide a great delicious balance of hearty and fresh/light dishes (although you will be stuffed by the end of it). This place also remains consistently good - it took me 5 years to return and the quality was a good as I remembered. I wish I had gone more often.
G. W.
K. S.
Great Mexican food. Mainly tacos and bite sized meals with a few select larger items. The flan dessert was a killer and choc fudge with raspberry sorbet was excellent embodiment to cherryripe in a dessert form. Overall a great experience. Recommend booking in advance to secure a seating table instead of the high benches.
M. B.
The food here was so tasty, fresh, light, healthy and delicious. My friend and I kept ordering more. Highly recommended. Will definitely go back.
J. L.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Paced our meal perfectly. Amazing food. Seeing dressed-up customers end their meal with a dessert of popcorn ice cream in hand was a highlight. Very beautiful setting, although cramped. Expect to smell the perfume of anyone sitting next to you and overhear all conversations. Worthwhile although lacking space.
C. P.
Food was great but too much rigmarole with group booking and service not that great. They are maximising profits at the expense of customer experience and it shows.
F. W.
We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was really busy consistently throughout the evening. This meant the drinks service was really slow but surprisingly the food service was not. We had 10 dishes for $69 which was amazing, a taste of a good variety. Plus one lady in our group can't have shell fish so they adjusted our 10 dishes accordingly. Great evening, nice decor, lovely food & cool cocktails.
S. P.
Best Mexican restaurant I've been to. Friendly efficient service. We chose the Feed Me menu which was sufficiently filling. If you are going for the larger Staff Favourites menu...don't eat that day beforehand. Favourite drink was the Cucumber Jalapeno Margarita!
M. R.
Feeling a tad disappointed after visiting for my birthday lunch today. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely staff member however this is where things quickly went downhill. The food and cocktails were delicious but unfortunately the rude table service, multiple mix ups with our order, and staggered delivery of our mains means we won’t be returning any time soon.
W. N.
Mexican fusion dining that is surprisingly tasty but not gluggy. I remember the desserts more than I do the mains. Unexpectedly good for a fusion experience.
P. M.
Amazing authentic Mexican food, always busy so expect a bit of a wait but it is definitely worth it
T. Z.
Nice Mexican food in Melbourne. No bookings so the crowds will easily mean a hour wait for a table unless you show up BEFORE they even open the doors and join the que down the street.
The hot tip is to push your way (nicely) upstairs past the line and give your name and phone number to the person with a check board who can call you when your table is ready while you have a drink in a bar nearby so you don't need to wait around on the stairs.
The corn cobs make my mouth water just thinking about them and I think there would be public riots on the streets if they were ever removed from the menu. The vegetarian options are always excellent (always choose a main meal though). It's great going with a group of people and trying a bit of everything. Desserts are also interesting and good. Choose something the waiters suggest as they really know the menu well and will help you out a lot.
The tequila back bar is impressive and worth trying, the tap beers and ciders are also solid. Try a tequila flight and learn a little about each one from your waiter or bartender. Well worth the wait for a seat.

It’s been years since I’ve been to Mamasita and I don’t know why! Amazing food, service, and a massively filling chef’s favourites banquet menu. The cucumber margarita is also possibly one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. It’s awesome they do bookings now, because I just remembered why I stopped going - waiting for hours down the staircase was a real bore! Not anymore though - I’ll definitely be back soon.
S. T.
Great food, great atmosphere.
The cocktail are fantastic. It's always on my list of places to bring visitors to.
However, because it's a great restaurant, it's hard to get a spot and there is always a wait. Not an ideal place for large group of people. It's on the pricey side too but you will definitely impress your guest.
P.
Lovely hip-upscale-loud-dark joint that defines Melbourne diverse contemporary cuisine. Expect a queue in dining hours, while I like coming in later in the night.
Been here 6-8 times and tried em all. Highlights for me: tongue taco, fresh tortilla, chicken wings... They are tasty, zingy and experience opener. Some are kinda mediocre: corn on cob, pork belly mains
If you only get the bar sit, don’t worry. Talk to the barman about your interest in tequila, a tailored selection (not necessarily the most pricey...) will make you switch scotch for tequila.
Priced well and the gimmicks are worth while.
B. E. C.
I absolutely love the vibe in this place. More importantly, food and drinks were fantastic. We went with a medium-sized feed me menu and it did not disappoint. The beef (short ribs I think?) was out of this world - a definite must try.
Staff were exceptional. One of my friends had very specific dietary requirements and our waitress was just incredible (really wish I remembered her name!), she looked after us so well and assured my friend knew what was in her dish - even to the extent that she made sure cutlery wasn't mixed! This really made our night more enjoyable, so thank you amazing waitress!
D.
Wow - busy place and it's not large. Incredible what these guys manage to serve up from a very small kitchen. We came here right on opening time and managed to snag one of the very few unreserved places. If you want to dine here I suggest you book ahead because it's VERY popular. For good reason too, because the food here is very good and doesn't conform to the stereotype Mexican cuisine that you may have encountered elsewhere. The dining experience is degustation type, with many smaller dishes that take you on a flavour journey from entree to desert. Great food & drink, plus the staff are wonderfully engaged and enthusiastic - , what more can you ask for. We thoroughly loved our evening here.
B. S.
Apparently it is very difficult to get a table at this place. The atmosphere and the service is very nice, they will feed you and make sure you have a drink in your hand but I feel like the food could be better. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty but it didn't have that "it". We ordered tacos, beer rib, corn, guacamole, burrata and a few other things. Cocktails were nice, mojito and pink punch (by jugs 😉 ).
J. W.
I was happy to note that the host and the waitstaff was all super friendly and helpful at all times, despite the fact that it was crowded.I started off with the Ceviche which was amazing, it was my favorite dish of the night. Also, I always think you can recognize a good Mexican restaurant based on their tortilla chips and the ones which came with the ceviche were of good quality. Both Taco's I tried were very very good, the lamb taco was a real flavor bomb and extremely well balanced: every bite tasted just perfect.
J. L.
Excellent evening of great Mexican food! Including 2 drinks pp it cost $70 each and we were full! The cuisine was creative, with lots of vego options. The flame grilled cauliflower, vegetables, and fish tacos tasty, are recommended, but the jack fruit tacos were a little bland. Try the a beer michelada-style. The tequila looks extensive... but it was a Sunday evening ;-).
R. C.
The corn cobs are the best I've had anywhere. Food is always fresh, and very tasty.
If you can I'd suggest trying to get a table seat, the bar seats aren't very comfortable but the food makes up for it.
S. L.
Food was good. Had a couple of tacos. Not a lot of variety to choose from but whatever we ordered was tasty. Not a cheap spot to dine at. So be prepared to pay at least $80AUD and above for a meal for 2. If the price doesn't deter you, would recommend to try this place out.
K. S.
Delicious, authentic Mexican food. We had the corn on the cob, chicken tostada, fish taco and pork tacos. Everything was fresh and tasty, with excellent quality ingredients. I am so pleased that you can now book a table, I stopped going because you had to queue so long to get in.
K. S.
Still searching for good tacos in Australia... Not bad, but the fish tacos were dry and under seasoned. Jalapeno margarita was unbelievably spicy, so the bartender definitely doesn't taste the drinks to measure spiciness (jalapeno peppers vary greatly in heat). Overall, service was really friendly, micheladas were great, food was just okay.
O. H.
I have been to Mamasita twice while visiting in Melbourne. It is hands down the best restaurant I have been to in Melbourne, and the best Mexican restaurant I have EVER been to!
The food is amazing. Fish taco and Street corn are my faves! The corn, I could literally eat all night, it is so good!
You can't make reservations, so you do have to just stand and wait until a table becomes available. Both times we have been we waited for approx 30 minutes in the stairwell. If you have a large table you can leave your number, go away and they will call you when a table becomes available to save you waiting in the stairwell.
But it is SO worth the wait. Amazing food. Great service. Fantastic vibe.
11/10
J. H.
Great little place we found near our hotel. Our server was very helpful and the food came out quick even on a busy night, food was great, only negative was the pork tacos were a bit dry. Everything else was really good. Will definitely go back
A. S.
This place never disappoints. Been coming here for years. Always great food and cocktails. They’ve been consistent over the years. Highly recommend.
R. F.
This is the best Mexican food in Melbourne, hands down. Make sure you get there early (5pm for dinner, 12pm for lunch), otherwise you will need to wait for at least an hour for a table. They can take your number and call you when a table is ready.
All the food is gluten free and delicious. You have to eat the char-grilled corn, it tastes way better than it has any right to. The prawn tacos and pork tostaditas are also amazing. Everything is fresh and delicious. I have been back numerous times and the food quality is consistently good. The margaritas are pretty good although I have had better.
The service is very good, the staff are friendly and quick despite how packed the place is. It's very small so don't expect to be sitting too comfortably.
S. C.
First time to Mamasita - arrived just after 5 with no reservation to score a table for dinner and pleased we did because the place filled up quickly. Service was great - our server was happy to help us choose and didn't rush us out when we had finished/were deciding if we wanted to eat more. The quesadillas were my personal favourite. The food was good, flavours were delicious but just felt it was a little bit pricey.
A. D.
Came here 4 years ago and again today - food was as previously, absolutely AMAZING. Delicious cocktails and great service also - what more can you want?! Particularly enjoyed the smokey margaritas and the chocolate fudge dessert... thank you to our great host Max for making this visit on our Melbourne trip so great!
T. B.
Great atmosphere. Had the banquet - was excellent though the mains underwhelmed a bit (beef cheeks, seafood dish)
E. B.
Love Mamasita - great atmosphere, it is always packed! They offer so many scrumptious gluten free options and their cocktails are phenomenal. It is a touch on the pricey side (but worth it). You need to make a booking on weekend nights or be prepared to wait.
T. P.
Great tacos, pastrami taco was awesome. Margaritas were great, Tommy’s reserve was 10/10 and coconut and burnt pineapple desert was awesome.
M. R.
Turned up on a Friday night without a booking but were seated quite quickly. Bartenders were knowledgeable and guided our drinks and meal. We got corn, cheese quesadillas, fish and chicken tacos. The food was amazing, excellent mixture of textures and flavours.
a. t.
The corn on the cob with the cheese is the most amazing thing in the universe. The other food is good too, a little on the pricey side but at least you know you'll enjoy what you're eating. Service is very good and attentive.
R. D. S.
One of the best places for Mexican food! Highly recommended!! Usually it's full house in the evenings, so be sure to make a prior booking. Tried out the chicken wings, crispy school prawns and pork cochinita tacos, all were simply excellent.
D. T.
Could not fault our meal at Mamasita. We did the Staff Favourites banquet which was amazing. The prawns and the macadamia and cashew chorizo tostadita were highlights. The dessert was probably the only let down of the whole meal. The margaritas more than made up for this though. Would happily recommend
G.
I ate here late last Sunday with a couple of friends.
This was the first time I had eaten at Mamasita.
Kara looked after us, so was bubbly and new exactly what we would like. She was one of the best waitresses I have ever had.
I will be coming back for sure.
S.
Mamasita came highly recommended and did not disappoint. We ordered up big across the menu and though we enjoyed absolutely everything, it was the corn on a stick (elote callejero) that was truly outstanding. No food photos this time as we were busy enjoying the moment and every mouthful. Bonus note - coffee was good too 😀
S. C.
My favourite taco in Melbourne. Good vegetarian options. GF options yes. Creative menu that changes by season I think. Good people watching window. Great for date night or mates night or... sometimes I like going on my own for tacos at the bar. Sad? No, just needed a good taco. Note: they don’t take bookings so get in early for a table.
M.
The food was very nice and we had a great night. We were the first customers in at 5pm and we watched the place fill up quickly - this is always a good sign.
The service was a bit slow and it was not very easy to get a drink. The waitresses seemed rushed yet they were lovely and tried to be as attentive as they could. Our main course was delayed but they communicated this to us. We appreciated them letting us know.
I loved everything expect the Rockling Ceviche. My favourite was the stuffed chili (this was a special for the night). You also have to try the chargrilled corn - it was really good.
The atmosphere was good and we left satisfied. I'd definitely return.
H. W.
Food is good, however lack of the 'wow' factor. Service is really good. Maybe I have high expectation and standard, given the high rating of this place. What has put me off is the fact they charge $11 for 2 sparkling water which has a strange chlorine taste. The sparkling water were served in their own glass jug, I'm pretty sure it's just carbonated tap water.
Y. M.
This is the most authentic mexican restaurant that I've found in Australia. It had the atmosphere of a Mexican cantina and the tacos have the authentic mexican flavour with the authentic chilli sauces. They have good selection of tequila and other drinks.
A. P.
Dinner at Mammasita was amazing! We chose the Staff Favourites banquet option and were impressed with every single dish that came out. As a coeliac, it's hard to be sure a gluten free meal out is going to be worth the effort, but it definitely is worth it here!
S. P.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere. Staff are friendly and don't pressure you into feeling like you have to leave straight after your meal. The wait to be seated is small. Despite the huge selection of restaurants, I go here every time I visit Melbourne.
E. C.
We came here for a dinner date last night. The food was great (except for the chips, not your average side of chips with a main?) and we were having a great time, until we had to pull staff aside after 20 minutes to ask if we could see the dessert menu, meanwhile being greased off by the manager for taking too long. After finally ordering our dessert, we were then told that the next table would be seated in 15 minutes. I’ve never had to eat a dessert so quickly before, appalling experience in the end for something that we had such high hopes for.
D. A.
Juan, our bartender and host was absolutely fantastic. Very knowledgeable and up for a chat. My partner and I had the "Feed Me" menu which was great value for money and of fantasy quality. Couldn't fault the service or the food. Very pleased.
P. D.
Amazing food, had full course meal, everything from entrees to mains and then desserts at the end was scrumptious. I was visiting Mel for work from Syd and you guys just made my dinner memorable. Would recommend you to anyone who loves Mexican cuisine.
J. L.
Delicious Mexican tapas food, a bit pricey for the quantity of food, but the food is delicious.
A. T.
Manasita is a great venue with great service. There are loads of gluten free options, in fact there are so many that they mark the dishes that are not gluten free instead. The sweetcorn cob is one of the nicest I've had at a Mexican. Only the tacos lacked a bit of punch compared with an otherwise delicious menu. Would definitely go again.
T. G.
Fantastic food and awesome atmosphere. We have been there a couple of times, without a booking, and enjoyed every minute there.
Phenomenal flavours and perfect drinks to match.
It’s worth sitting at the bar to eat if you can’t get a table.
P. N.
Two of our four dishes were great the other two lost point due to the strong lime flavour - I guess it just wasn't for me. There was fun mariachi band. The service was really good.
Get there early and be prepared to wait or make a booking. There will be a long line down the stairs.
M. R.
Staple Mexican restaurant in the Melbourne CBD that caters well for gluten free. They used to be great for fructose intolerance however with a new menu, there was only two entrees and one dessert now available (compared with most tacos, a few mains previously).
Make sure you leave enough room for the popcorn ice cream.
N. B. E.
Outstanding food and awesome staff. A Melbourne icon - must go. No one comes close to those fish tacos and beef short ribs. LOVE IT. Well done Mamacita team for being consistent... also thanks for allowing people to book in advance.
A. S.
Love this place! Totally my favorite Mexican restaurant ever!!! I wish we had one of these in Sydney!! The menu is so exotic, so many cool meals to choose from, the decor is awesome and staff are very friendly! Would recommend the corn its so good!!! Make sure you get in early as it gets very busy!
B. K.
Great mezcal list, they even have sotol which is rare to find, especially more than a token bottle, the food was amazing, love the mole, burrata, and beef rib (however this was way too small for the price).
Cocktails were also great from the few I tried. Definitely coming back.
j. r.
I think Mamasita might be a victim of its own success. The food was good. Not out of this world amazing, but pretty good. Based solely on the food, I would highly recommend it. The service was good, but not knock your socks off. There were a few little hiccups, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a very busy restaurant on a Saturday night.
We had to wait 2 hours to get a table. Our name was taken down and we were able to go somewhere else and have a drink so it was not a big deal. I am just not sure that I would ever see myself wanting to eat at mamasita that badly that I would be willing to wait two hours. I know that it was a Saturday night and it was busy. Maybe during the week it isn't that crowded.
I would love to be able to make a booking for a table.
N. M.
This time we tried Mexican for a change. Though we heard it is tough to get in but for Saturday lunch we didn’t find any challenge. We went for a la carte and Starters were amazing however main course was not that zingy as bar from status was high. Desserts were good but not that great.
E. C.
Mexican with a twist. Great food and good choice of Mexican beers. Definitely good for a date night or catch up with friends. Seek this place out if you are looking for a very well done Mexican feed. I didn't try any of the cocktails but that'll be on the agenda when I return.
C. M. L.
Food was really tasty and imaginative. However, service was not great, they forgot one dish, and when we asked the waitress about it, she said they take time. Twenty minutes for two lamb chops tacos?
l. l.
Nice ambiance and great service however menu quite limiting and portions small. Didn’t live up to expectations.
D.
Nice place.
Food was nice although the menu is confusing. I ordered a tostada in the tostada section but at the end is was only fish. Service was sloppy and a bit slow. I like the guacamole as the entrance. Very nice seasonal cocktail.
D. N.
Came here for dinner with the wife before going to a show. We had the Crispy fried whitebait, Valentina mayo, pickled cucumber & jalapeño as a starter, dish was okay, my wife enjoyed it more than i did that's for sure, but I wouldn't say it's bad, I think other people may enjoy it more than I did is all. We then ordered the Chicken ‘tinga’ tostada, chipotle, frijoles, queso fresco, crema, lettuce, there was a lot going on with this tostada, we ate what we could off the top before splitting it between us, it was good. My wife has the vego taco's which she said were alright, strong on the mushrooms. I had the Lamb rib chops (2) pulparindo salsa, tortillas (taco's), this was definitely the highlight for me. The lamb was amazing, really enjoyed this dish. We then finished with the Chicken pipián, pepitas, sesame, peanuts, piquín, by this time we were both quite full, but we powered on, we ordered some tortillas to go along with the chicken, overall the chicken was cooked alright, wasn't a huge fan of the sauce or the dish in general though. I ordered a Mama Margarita – Herradura plata, Pierre Ferrand curaçao, agave, lime, salt and served on the rocks, loved the drink, great margarita.
I would say, give this place a go. I would chop up my experience to perhaps a few of the dishes we ordered. The venue is modern, service was good.
J. F.
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Melbourne. The food was to die for. I’d highly recommend the beef tostadas, tongue tacos, fish tacos and the cheesecake — a little bit of heaven in your mouth. And the service was above and beyond expectations. We had the best time! A must-visit.

Great sharing plates, like seriously good.
Cocktails are very tasty and the ambience just right.
-
Slight service attitude on some staffs but very minimal.
Highly reccomended and definitely still a frequents myself.
I.
Always a fun atmosphere, and always great food. I love visiting with a small group and ordering a variety of dishes to share. Note that from about ten in the evening they offer a slightly reduced menu, so if you're ordering progressively around that time, then you may want to bear that in mind.
D. J.
I love this place, well priced and the food, service and atmosphere is fantastic. Highly recommend you try dishes from every part of the menu.
C. O.
While most of the food was delicious and the tequila were amazing. They brought our seperate orders together on the same plate. This meant vegetarian options were mixed with the meat options. Also the food didn't come at once it was staggered so one person received their main then 5 mins later someone else got their main and our sides arrived when we had finished everything else.
I wanted to love this place but was disappointed. I would have rated 3.5 but I can't give a half star
D. M. A.
Highly recommended!! Excellent food, service and drinks!! I especially loved the lengua tacos, sope and mole rojo and how the waitress walked us through the menu and available pairing options. Besides the food, the highlight of the night was the mandarin margarita.. I will be definitely going back for one of those!!
J. P.
Fantastic experience and would return.
Rocked up off the street after a massive day and got seated at the bar. Partner and I went for the Feed Me experience with Mezcal and Cocktail pairings. The girl who looked after us (Liz) knew the backstory and processes of each mezcal and was great to chat to as we had our meal.
The food was also fantastic with little tidbits of info here and there.
Will 100% be back.
M. B.
I came here with a group who had one of the banquets, they brought out special vegan dishes for me whenever they brought anything for the table and they were amazing. A lot of it had nuts. Some of the best dishes I've had since becoming vegan.
T. F.
Food was good and tasty, slightly smaller meal sizes than expected but overall food was good. The service was exceptional which was the standout of our experience. Our bar/waiter (simon) was excellent and all to happy to help and accommodate us during our dining experience. Would definitely come back should i find myself in Melbourne cbd again. Could do with a couple more vegetarian dishes on the menu however.
S. T.
Typical Melbourne to find a small hidey hole & make it a hit. I love the food at this place. So tasty. The areas a bit small so you really need to be patient & enjoy lining up. Prices are a tad expensive for the product ($6.50 for one for cob) but it's a great night out for a special night.
K. D.
'Merican and seafood-hater here: I heard that it was an Aussie spin on Mexican which sounded kind of cool. The roasted corn had some hype but wasn't my jam. Most of the menu was seafood focused which likely appeals to others more than myself. Beef tongue taco was not bad and lamb "quesadita" was really good. Beer selection was nothing to write home about but the tequila cocktails (Huntsman and then a tequila-based espresso martini) were very good and pretty unique. Staff was quick and friendly. They maybe aren't at the top of my list but are worth hitting if you have more than a couple of days in town.
X. B.
Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Melbourne! I would recommend the Milpa Taco and the Fish Taco. The smoked eggplant was what made my night, it was very smokey and delicious. The staff were very friendly and gave recommendations when you needed help.
R. D. O.
Visited for the first time with friends from Sydney.
For a wintery cold night the atmosphere inside was vibrant and buzzing. Food was great and the service was of high quality. Would recommend making a booking. Thanks for a great meal.
R. W.
Great atmosphere with senior staff that really know what they are talking about :)
A. E.
I am no expert when it comes to Mexican food, but lunch at Mamasita offers great and unique plates that I have yet to come across anywhere else. The service is great, fast, and the staff are very polite and serve quickly with a smile.
Book ahead for lunch as it gets very busy, but definitely worth the wait/queueing for.
K. T.
I LOVE MAMASITA. I am absolutely obsessed with Mexican food and oh my lord, Mamasita never ever disappoints. Their tortilla chips and guac is absolutely great as a starter, and their tacos are always amazing! I'd recommend trying the specials if there are specials that day. The charred corn is also incredible, so make sure to try it! I've never been disappointed by Mamasita before and I don't think you will be either. Be warned though, if you get there at 7, even on a weekday, you might get told that it'll be about an hour and a half wait, that's how amazing it is!
J. E.
Came here upon a recommendation from friends and sadly was a little underwhelmed. The food was awesome - def recommend the corn on the cob, and the guac is fab if not a little pricey at $16, tacos and quesadillas are yum too - sangria was ok - but the service was really lacking. Our waiter seemed a little elitist and snobby, quite pushy, complete opposite of the other melbournites we’d met ! Didn’t make us feel overly welcome, maybe he was just havng an off day? Don’t know that I’d come back again given there’s so many other amazing eateries in the area
L. H.
Food was amazing but I'd advise watch your wine. We ordered a bottle (which was quite costly) which they insisted on taking away and keeping at the bar. Disappointingly our glasses were only filled once during the meal. When we asked for the rest so we could finish it before leaving we were told there was none left. It was only after we insisted that we had not finished the bottle and kicked up a bit of a stink the 1/2 full bottle was miraculously 'found'. Deliberate attempt to rip us off or poor service and organisation either way not great. We'll be keeping our wine at the table if we go here again.
J. M. K.
This might be the best Mexican food I've eaten. The corn has to be tried and absolutely everything is good. As a monthly traveller to Melbourne this was always my go-to place because the food is just so good. You need to get there early though as there is usually a queue down the stairs and out the door. My last visit was maybe a year ago when a long haired male host was so rude to us after we queued on the stairs for almost an hour, to be told "no tables of three for at least another hour". He then became even ruder when we asked why we weren't told this when we began to queue. Unfortunately despite the truly awesome food, I haven't been back since because of this treatment.
F. B.
Ate here a couple of weeks ago and was it was really delicious. Great Mexican. I'm not the biggest fan of Mexican, but it was really yum and my partner loved it. The drinks were on point!!!
Z. C.
Highly recommended. Amazing service, even more amazing food and very affordable. Ordered a starter, main and 2 quesadillas between 2 people, and portions were perfect for this. Not including drinks, the food didn't set us back more than $20 each. Exceptional food and awesome atmosphere.
P. S.
Really nice restaurant. Everything on the dinner menu is Gluten Free. Makes it easy if you have an intolerance. Must have the corn. We had it as an entree then had another for desert.
W. Z. (.
Great mexican food and delicious drinks! The only downside is - if you don't book, expect to sit on one of the cramped and tiny bar stools. They really pack you like sardines on those bars!
G. L.
Pretty good food.

I took my wife and three young adult children here on a Sunday night as we were visiting Melbourne and eating out every night. I had an idea what i was in for as i walked past the Gucci, Armani, Louis Vuitton retail stores to get to the restaurant. This is the yuppie end of town so prepare accordingly.
The room is fairly small but well set out. It was full when we got there but a table was sorted before our drinks at the bar came so that's good. The waitress that took our order advised we were probably under ordering and should bump up some of our serves. We took her advice and it's a good thing we did.
The food came quickly as most of it can easily be pre prepared and assembled to order. Serves were small but tasty and each person got to taste one piece of each plate. The beef ribs were well overpriced i know, as i cook these myself regularly so i know what they cost to buy.
In the end, we enjoyed what we had and left not completely full but not hungry either. Cost for the food and one round of drinks ( 2 beers, 2 soft drinks, 1 margarita) was approx $260.
The thing that annoyed me the most was when the bill was presented it was assumed a tip would be added. The service was ok but it was the minimum you would expect from busy staff. If the owners want to charge this much for food they can pay their staff just fine.
S. M.
Four very happy customers after yesterday's Cinco de Mayo Mex-Tex event. Amazing food, impecable service and great creativity in the drinks department. Chef Martin is very, very talented and the staff are (very obviously) well trained in the finer points of hospitality.
PS> I'm Mexican - so I'm naturally cynical about Mexican food outside of my home. This team exceeds any pre-conceptions of what Mexican food outside of Mexico might be. In fact, the contemporary twist on classic dishes is not only more than welcome, it's a fantastic experience!
G. A.
Our group of 4 had read all the reviews we could and arrived at around 7:15pm fully aware that we'd have to wait some time before getting a table. We gave our name & phone number to the host and went around the corner to a bar for some pre-dinner drinks. When we returned we sat at a bar for 5 minutes whilst our table was prepared. A kind-of tequila sommelier provided us with some suggestions for a taste of tequila and before we could have our first sip, our table was ready.
Our waitress was quite accommodating and was very patient with us in explaining the menu. We ordered an assortment of food to share but knew that the first thing we wanted was some of the corn we'd read so much about. It was delicious, it certainly lived up to all the hype.
We followed up with an assortment of tostaditas, tacos, braised pork belly and pibil-style pork hock.
All the food was amazing. The flavours were very complex and unlike any Mexican we'd had before.
We loved the atmosphere which was loud and vibrant. The sharing style was very appealing and the service was fast without being pushy (we'd read some reviews which had been negative about being pushed to leave, this was not the case and others around us took their time without being urged to leave). At under $75 per head including copious beers and cocktails, it was cheaper than we'd been lead to believe.
A wonderful evening enjoyed with friends.
We'll be going back again.
O. C.
Great food and wait staff with a nice selection of dishes. Note to manager - if we are asked whether we would like sparkling water and are given two glasses we dont need an additional bottle, without being notified we are being charged for 2 bottles. I didnt like discovering a x2 charge on the bill. It was a bum note on an otherwise great evening.
C. F.
No longer the best Mexican in town. Admittedly we arrived 21 mins before kitchen closed. Told we were welcome. Sat at the bar and ordered immediately in order to allow them to shut down more easily. Server screwed up our order (dietary intolerances) purely because she just clearly didn't want to be there. More accurately she didn't want us to be there apparently. No smile. No interaction. No attention given when taking our order. You know the way when you are made to feel like you are an inconvenience to your server?... Food wise: Some dishes were very good like the seafood tostada. Others were very average like the quesadilla. Received 3 stars only because the bar man was very friendly and accommodating, and gave us a Mezcal/Tequila lesson.
Will think twice next time. There is too much choice nowadays for that to fly.
A. P.
Brilliant all round. Service, food, cocktails and beers! Do yourself a favour, just order the set menu. Its 100% worth it. Hard to pick a favourite dish to be honest.
J. H.
Great Mexican food. Special mention goes to the tacos, they're small but they're packed full of flavour. One of few CBD places that allows for bookings in the evenings so bonus points there.
L. G.
Oh my gosh, this place is something like no other, totally amazing!!! I can't fault it! The RESTAURANT was a chic, cool vibe, the SERVICE above and beyond (they must train and treat their staff really well) because it SHOWS you just don't get this kind of service in most places, the FOOD, I can't stop thinking about it, it was devine!! Who would have thought Corn on the Cob could taste so so good. Keep doing what your doing people and THANK YOU! Lisa Green

Visiting for work....
Best meal in Melbourne! Worth the wait. Start with the ceviche, and maybe some street corn. Its wonderful!
The tostada is really unique and the mole is out of this world. Kingfish collar could be the best prepared in the world (yes the world).
Then dessert.. do NOT miss the sweet corn ice cream cone. Yes ... do it ! We've been three times and when we come back we will go again
Make sure you ask for Olivia but all the start is great !
J. M.
Great place to explore Mexican cuisine in Melbourne, an incredible Sope and Lengua Tacos!
The staff is energetic, friendly and assertive on their recommendations.
If you also like a good drink try the Mandarin Margarita and a shot (or two) of their huge range of Mezcal!
L. L.
Very popular restaurant. Good service. Recommend the corn and ox tongue tacos. Salad was very fresh and the sauce was good. Fried fish tacos were good too.
J. N.
The foods, services and ambient are on point! I like them alot! We went to the restaurant at 6pm sharp, there were no queue. After the queue started to build up after 20 mins. You can also reserve a table in advance.
2 of us ordered the signature 'Streetstyle corn', lamb shoulder and lengua tacos and half 'Chicken Pipian Rojo' accompanied with green rice(suggested by the staff). We couldn't get enough of the chicken, it's too good! Should have order a whole chicken!
We also get a 'Paoched Camote' for dessert.
We spent less than 100AUD which is cheaper than we expect.
J. A.
Good but little too expensive
J. S.
This place is incredible. The staff are fab, they know everything on the menus plus more, they are helpful and on top of everything.
The food is by far the best Mexican I have ever Had!
B. E.
We thought the food was great, but the noise volume was excruciating. This didn't seem to bother anyone else, but if you're on a date and want to have some conversation, this is not the right place. The staff did look after us really well. So, service & food great but noise levels seriously deafening.
I. Y.
The bartender Oscar was amazing!!!! I came in on a quiet Tuesday, and was really treated well! :)
J. R.
Great Mexican restaurant with a very impressive selection of Mezcal. We had a selection of tacos, quesadillas, and a Oaxacan favourite Mole rojo De cerdo. Which was Amazing, could have had a few more tacos but still a 5 star experience. They even have Pacifico beer.
T. E.
Had a MFWF event today, So amazing the food was so tasty......even the crickets🤣🤣 Service was impeccable, Well Done. Highly Recommended
A. M.
Terrific food and even better service, we had George, (the guy that looks like Steve Harrington from stranger things) and he really made the whole experience a lot of fun. Super genuine friendly guy.
100% recommend, be sure not to eat anything beforehand because the portions are decent and you dont want to waste any of this incredible food!
Thanks again George x
M. E.
Buttata and mole, fish tacos and sweet corn ice cream were all delicious! I try to come here every time I’m in Melbourne and it never disappoints. Big thanks to Max for the stellar service.
A. A.
The staff were very friendly, the food was ok, we ordered nachos was very good with the chicken wings. But the main (lab tacos) and another main was not very nice.
Overall not bad.
C. V.
Great dining experience, the best Mexican in Melbourne! Very interesting tequila and mezcal range. We had a mezcal flight with our dinner, and got to learn a lot about Mexican spirits from the Mezcalier. Awesome service, lovely food, great drinks, and fun environment.
W. O.
Amazing bustling restraunt with a lively bar. Food is exceptional. It's a bit pricy but worth the quality of the food. Cocktails are spot on. Recommended the "Feed me!" 10 course set meal to adequately appreciate the experience.
m. r.
Lunch on Jan 3 2019, visiting from South Carolina USA. Food delicious. Lots of Mexican places here in S Carolina, but Mamasita's was so different and unusual, including vegan options; surprise! Best Margarita I've had in a while, served by charming, attentive Nelson. Thanks, y'all! Martina Reburn
D. C.
Food was okay. A large cock roach scurried across the wall while we were there. This place is very hyped up for no real reason. The burnt chocolate chicken tastes like disgusting burnt chocolate. Admittedly we were there on a 35 degree night and the aircon was not coping.
K. K.
Had a great time. Staff are kind n nice.
S. V.
Amazing gluten free treats - shared menu was all very yummy
J. W.
Absolutely delicious. Great flavours. And excellent service, really awesome waitress served us. Love the location as well. Must recommend the fish taco and the pork taco.
A. B.
Very nice food, lovely welcoming staff!
A. L.
Review is based on the mamasita truck at the Melbourne show.
The crumbed fish taco with squid ink mayo and dragonfruit was really nice. The soft shelled taco went perfectly with the crispy fish. The dragonfruit added a nice refreshing touch.
Was a tad pricey but that's expected for food at the Melbourne show
B. P.
Average and expensive is how I would describe it. The menu is fairly limited, but to their credit the food choices offered are tasty. Be prepared to empty your wallet if you are tempted to enjoy a small, weak margarita. Four drinks and a few tapas will easily set you back $200 leaving you feeling as though you were just fleeced as you depart.
H. B.
Delicious food and cocktails, lots and lots of options for gluten free people too! Nelson at the bar was great, very friendly with impeccable service. I'll be back on my next trip to Melbourne fo sho.
S. R.
I thought all the food we ordered was very nice however some portions were fairly small for the price, all the food was fresh and the service was fairly quick except they forgot to order drinks we asked for and we asked 3 times before in the end giving up but was tried to be charged for it. I was disappointed that the cocktail jug did not have a price on it and it ended up being $70 and not very large.
D. J.
I am reading some of these reviews and really surprised people have ha such a bad experience here. My partner and I went on a Tuesday night, had to line up the stairs for 50min (they told us 20), but once seated service was fantastic, best I've had in ages. And Mexican was hands down best I've had. Can't wait to go back.
A. K.
Overpriced tapas food but given the location and atmosphere i guess it justifies. Food is above average nothing to rage about and the drink list is pretty extensive. Overall nice place for a first date but wouldn't really return. Long queue during peak hours try going after 830.
S. O.
Although it wasn't exactly what I was expecting, we really enjoyed our stop at Mamasita. The green chili chicken was spectacular. The only drawback was how expensive we found the menu. Still, definitely worth a shot!
J. W.
Never disappoints me. Awesome food and Tequila and Mezcal
S. B.
Thank you so much for the great food and above and beyond service mamasitas! Not only is the food 100% deliciously legit mexican, their staff are fantastic. Bella was warm and accomodating going well above and beyond with a booking mistake from our hotel. Thank you Bella, Max and all the staff at Mamasitas!
J. B.
We had dinner at Mamasita last night with some visiting friends. I had heard so much about the restaurant and was keen to try it out. Unfortunately we weren't at all impressed with the service and wont be returning.
On arrival you have to wait in the stairwell for a table to free up. Unlike other restaurants there was no possibility to stand at the bar and have a drink. After 30 minutes we got a table.
The staff rushed us through ordering and weren't at all helpful with the menu (which is primarily in Spanish - my Spanish skills are limited to "no hablo mucho español"). The meals were hastily brought out to us and semi-empty plates were taken away - some still with food on them.
We were quickly told that we had to order desert before last orders and a menu was forced into our hands (whilst still eating mains). Then on ordering we were told it was too late (with some explanation and finding our original waiter we managed to order our ice-cream).
The bill was then brought to use without asking while we were still eating desert. Water glasses were then whisked away half full between sips.
The food was pretty good but slightly over-priced for the taste, service and presentation. However, I would highly recommend the ceviche to anyone going.
H.
Best mexican food I have had so far. Place was packed and very loud but the food was so delicious that it was worth it. The house made horchata was also delicious. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Worth every penny.
s. f.
Just simply one of my favourite Melbourne CBD restaurants to visit. Amazing food with great choice of drinks and excellent service. Love this place.👍💙
N. M.
Nice vibe & atmosphere but the servings are small & its overpriced for the portion size. Would not rush to return!
M. H.
Great atmosphere and service. Can be packed though, however we were given a good estimation of the time required to get a table, and expectation management is very important! Food was fresh and amazing as were the Margheritas!
A. W.
If you're looking for Mexican food in the CBD, this is the place to go. Not only is the food great, but the service is top notch. Be prepared to wait for a table though, as they don't take bookings for groups smaller than 8 people.
D. M.
Not really Mexican. Wrong ingredients on some things, over cooked meats, bad corn tortillas (just thin and flavourless) and the chips were clearly dyed. Fun atmosphere but the staff we interacted with weren't overly excited to help us.
J. L.
Staff are so friendly and polite. One of my favourite Mexican food places. A definite must try for foodies. Would highly recommend the ceviche.
T. F.
The Mexican flavours were so fresh and vivid. The share plate style was perfect for the food but it can be easy for the price to climb when you try to get a little something for everyone.
N. S.
Amazing food. Staff able to fit us in early. One item was forgotten from the order, but we were so full we didn't need it. Blessing in disguise.
W. F. E.
Mamasita is one of the most popular restaurants in the Melbourne CBD with long queues leading up to its entrance. The very trendy Mamasita has a variety of tasty Mexican dishes to tantalise your taste buds. The trendy decore makes it a great venue to catch up with friends. I'd definitely suggest going early if you want to avoid the queues.
First up was the Totopos (Tortilla Chips) with guacamole and salsa at $9. I really loved the big crunchy chips. The salsa and guacamole were freshly made and worked well as a starter.
To share; I ordered the Tamal De Carne De Res ($14) which was the Beef Brisket Tamale, tomatillo salsa, goats cheese crema and slaw. It was a bit spicy but the beef was beautifully cooked.
I also ordered a few tacos which included the must order De Puerco ($6) which is the Al Pastor-Style Pig's cheek, fiercy apple and white cabbage which was absolutely delicious.
In the middle was the fish taco called De Pescado ($6), this taco included grilled market fish, red onion, salsa, lime with chipotle mayo which was not bad. The bottom right taco was the De camarones ($7) which had marinated prawns, creamed corn puree, epazote and jalapeno crema. The tacos are the size of your palm so I would suggest two per person at a minimum.
B. H.
Ahmazing!! Love this place. I’m gluten intolerant and I can pretty much eat the WHOLE menu. Great staff, can get a little loud at times... but one of my faves.
A. S.
One of my faves. The food is a great take on a not-quite-traditional Mexican. The atmosphere is fun, and the staff are good eggs.
G. A.
Consistently excellent Mexican dishes, with friendly waitstaff, amazing cocktails and a truly Melbourne vibe.
R. D.
Was alright, but could be better
The signature margarita was overpowered by salt and lime and was mostly ice for $19.50, guac was average and everything was super salty. Would recommend the pork tacos though
K. B. (.
Amazing food as always, perfect size dishes to have a try of lots of things. Highly recommend the street corn and the pulled meat corn husk. Served by James R who made the night even better. Cheers
A. M.
One of my favourite restaurants to hang out with friends. The food is simply great. Have never been disappointed. The service is faultless.
A. P.
Get there early! Amazing food, great drinks and awesome atmosphere. Staff are really friendly and is well worth the wait if you get there late. Mexican street corn to start is the best way to start!
K. D.
Excellent find for our first dinner in Melbourne. Food and service were outstanding. The combination of ingredients and flavors were out of this world...
G. C.
I am a sud american and always looking for true Grandma's "sazon" . I have found it in this place in the city. Food delivers the goods and has an nice mix of homemade flavour and international panache.
The service is in another level. They will bend over backwards for you. I asked to lower the music on a paked saturday night and they did it!
The tequila and mexcal selection is very good and there are choices for everyone.
P. P.
Probably the best restaurant for gluten free we have ever been to! There was pretty much everything available. Had the agave and chipotle wings, pork tacos and short rib washed down with great tequila and.mexican beer.
A. S. (.
Really lovely place. The food was top notch and service was prompt and friendly.
Be aware that walk ins might result in a wait, even on a weeknight (went on a Tuesday night). They take bookings so it's not a huge problem.
G. E.
The Vegetarian options where great, the atmosphere was alive and the beer was cold. Everything you could want on a Tuesday Night. Don't walk away if there is a line, the wait is worth it.
C. W.
As a yank, I'm left yearning for more traditional down-and-dirty Mexican food. It'll beat a Zambrero on quality of ingredients any day of the week, but it's a bit fancy pants and the portions are small.
If you go, the best thing I had was the beef tamale, but you'd need 3 of them to sort you out.
D. W.
Great drinks. Nice atmosphere. Can be noisy. Book so you won't be disappointed. Feed me is a great option.
M. W.
Food was beautiful and delicious, the space and staff where lovely. The only negitve was the time in between dishes coming out. It almost felt like we had been forgotten. Will definitely visit again!
B. C.
Lucky the food is better than the below average service. We had really bad attitude from our waitress, I believe her name was Telula. Couldn't help but think we were the bane of her existence. Massive RBF from the get go.. The guy who serves the tequila shots (facial hair dude) was a champion though.
Get some happiness up ya Telula!
G. G.
Delicious Mexican food and drink with plenty of gluten-free options. I'd be willing to give this place another star for providing wheelchair access, so I can bring my partner someday.
R. N.
Amazing dishes. Less amazing queues, but worth the wait. Go for the street corn, stay for the atmosphere, bartenders chats and a really great atmosphere. Yet another thing I wish was in Sydney.
J. C.
I love trying Mexican food away from the Americas. This is Def a great place to try. Innovative. Different. But the quality is high and it reminds me of home.
V. Z.
Great high standard Mexican food. Be aware of the booking process. You will have to book early and table is only given once all the people have arrived from your booking
M. H.
I love this place. The food is delicious, and given that my friend has FODMAP concerns, it was unbelievably accommodating when they pulled out a chart of substitutions that are possible. Get outta here, so handy! ♥️
A. L.
I fantastic choice for Mexican. The staff were brilliant and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend the set menu
M. W.
I really like the vibe this place has. Been coming here for nearly 5 years and has always stayed consistent. Can't think of better Mexican food in Melbourne.
A. K.
Good vibe, good service however food is lacking flavour and execution. Wanted to love it but slightly missed the mark.
I. F.
We shared 5 dishes and they were all delicious. Unfortunately didn't try any desserts. Staff was very friendly. Little bit pricey but worth it.
P.
Great food, and maybe the best gluten free tortillas I've ever had. On the down side the menu is a bit confusing and the serving sizes are quite small.
K. H.
One of the best Mexiacan food in the city. Nice, cozy place and friendly environment. The food was fresh and healthy and at a decent price. Will definitely revisit soon and highly recomment to everyone!!
J. S.
I’ll give 5* for the atmosphere, 4* for cocktails, 3* for ordinary food and 2* for slow service and forgetting the order. Probably go there again for quick cocktails wt friends not food or for long.
K. G.
Mamsita is one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne, the food is always good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Give the fish tacos & corn a try! So good!
K.
Max was a charm. Great waitor. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Mamasita amazing recommdations. Fried fish taco 100.
H. R.
Always love eating out here because the food and service is always impeccable. The line can sometimes be long but staff are great at predicting the wait and calling you back when a table is free. Highly recommended!
c. f.
Pretty average Mexican food.
A. J.
I loved the food. The wait staff (Kara) was really great as well. Definitely a great place to go for a team lunch.
C. S.
One of my family favourite.Food always so good! Menu changes everyone and then but great food and drinks. Very accommodating for kids too.
V. L.
Food was okay, service was decent, however the wait time was a bit long for my mates. Tried to offer us Tequila quite a few times after we said no.
V. D.
Best selection of mezcales in Melbourne, amazing service and super tasty food! A must try for Mexican places in Australia
S. S.
Love the food....and was lucky to get in within 5 minutes waiting time on a Thursday night.....definitely will go back sometime soon ...apparently new menu is coming out....highly recommend the corn cob and drinks.
M. D.
Fantastic food, probably the best Mexican I've ever had. Caters well to those with Coeliac disease too, no issue with cross contamination or anything. Can't recommend enough.
J. T.
Good Mexican restaurant but too busy and reservations only available to 8-10 persons. The corn is popular but most menu items are tasty.
O. H.
Delicious! We ordered the “feed me” option which was incredible value for money. Juan looked after us & he was great! Highly recommended
A. r. n. M.
Turned me around on fish tacos completely and now I regularly try to make BBQ corn on the cob. Great atmosphere and amazing staff!
i. y.
Delicious mexican delights and cocktails. Look past the fanciness to the awesome authentic flavours. Great seats at the bar for a single diner.
V. M.
Yummy Mexican food and drinks - high bar table over looking the street great for people watching.
D. K.
Lonely service, lovely food
L. C.
Spectacular service and amazing gluten free food. It was a delight to eat here. The deserts were particularly outstanding!
g. s.
Always fave. The food are amazing, $ is good and worth it, and so cozy place.
Don't miss to try corn alajero and tacos lengua.👍👍👍
J. F.
As much as i hate having to line up to get a table. this is a great place to hang out with my friends. good drinks, awesome food and fab company. i always walk out of here feeling sexy!
B. M.
Cosy, very good authentic Mexican food - particularly the fish tacos and chargrilled corn! Make sure you book a table beforehand!
B. M.
I came in with high expectations considering the talk-up it had from family and friends but was mildly disappointed. The food was OK without being great, which is probably an adequate summary of the entire experience.
A. B.
I found the food to be much healthier than typical mexican restaurants in Melbourne. The highlight for me was the Sangria.
Be ready to wait in queue for a while though
C. S.
Excellent Mexican food in vibrant atmosphere. Great with kids. Very popular, so come early to avoid queue.
S. K.
Very good for except for the "customer favourites", that's how they call their non-edible dishes.
Edit: I lowered another star just for their fake response below. Nothing happened after I contacted that email as they requested...
T. N.
Was a bit confused at first, everyone was just standing in the staircase, not great if you've never been before. But once you sit down the food is pretty fantastic. Will return next time I'm in Melbourne.
T. M.
Pork Belly & Lamb Quesadillas are where it's at! Staff were super sweet and awesome recommending diff food on the menu. Def going again!
m. t.
Loved it, I'm huge Mexican food fan so maybe kind of bias. Staff were great and the drinks menu was incredible.
M. S.
Fantastic environment, really lively place with a good Mexican vibe. The food is amazing and the service is on point. I highly recommend it giving it a go!
C. B.
Nice authentic Mexican food, not your usual burritos and tacos but authentic food. Not the cheapest place but great quality. Nice friendly staff. Expect to queue or turn up early.
H. R.
Expensive but taste.
You also sit pretty close to neighbouring tables
A. D. R.
Great mexican food. The tacos are delicious. Drinks are good too. I recommend booking in advance.
s. v.
The food was simply superb. It's one of the great Mexican joint. Quality and quantity , really worth.
S. d.
Sensational food and margueritas that leave you wanting more. Mix this with the atmosphere and it's definitely 5 stars. I know tex mex is popular but for me this represents Mexican food. Viva la Mexico!
N.
This is a new hipster Mexican place. They don't have the authentic Mexican food but it's with a touch to it. It's really good but the portions are small and it's pretty expensive for what you're getting. The staff is very nice and friendly though!
K. B.
Went with a large group for dinner. Tight seating arrangements, but the food was amazing and the staff were knowledgeable and charming.
D. K.
Food was nice, although it felt like we were constantly being up-sold to quantities we didn't need. Margaritas were sublime!
O. L.
Tasty Mexican food, but not up to the unbelievable hype it has attracted. Expect small portions at high prices, and a fairly standard Mexican menu.
A. B.
Awesome dining experience such friendly staff and yummy food the waiter with the mullet was very good and sold me far too much tequila
C. T.
The service was great and the food was amazing. The one stat down was from the quesadillas which weren't great. I would defs go again.
M. H.
Absolutely fantastic, I went here with two South American friends and the food was sensational. The crispy fish taco was incredible
S. N.
Probably the best Mexican restaurant in Melbourne! Good service, great vibes! Love the interior decoration as well.
V. S.
Everything was just excellent. The best Mexican food I have had in Melbourne.
D. P.
Tasty, quality Mexican with a great bar. Definitely recommended - great for groups of 4-6 people.
M. T.
Conference destination, food was tasty and plentiful enjoyed the atmosphere!
D. H.
Great food and exiciting menu. It's a reason why they have been around for so long and still command a waiting line in the stair case after almost 10 years.
J. C.
The best and og for fish tacos, grilled corn and margaritas. The queues can be big during peak times, well worth the wait.
E. G.
Yes it's pricey, but quite delish. Staff are friendly. Great for date night. Sometimes can be a queue but worth it. The cervice is to die for. Must order.
T. B.
Still good food and very busy at lunch time Fridays
M. C.
Love it here, we had the fed me menu and it was really delicious and plentiful! Staff are lovely and the space is airy and cool.
J.
It was very nice Mexican food, in a nice setting with friendly staff, but I didn't help feel it was a bit over priced compared to other similar venues in Melbourne.
J. L.
Best place for some casual catch up with friends. Great food and atmosphere. Staff are exceptionally friendly. I always have a great time here!
M. R.
Good restaurant with tapas. Food is good, except the corn cobs, which are amazing. But don't expect other items to blow your mind.
S. G.
Disappointed... I've heard great things about this place.. Also that it's affordable (it's not).. I've just travelled from Brisbane to Melbourne and this is the most expensive restaurant I've eaten at (and I've eaten at a lot of nice restaurants in Australia).. Bottom line is, it's over rated...
f. s.
good meal
B. R.
Everytime we come to Melbourne from NZ, we make sure we come here for at least one meal!! Ceviche is an absolute must try! Enjoy.
Z. M.
Always good food and atmosphere here. I hadn't been for a couple of years. Got straight in, used to have to wait in a big line for a space
R. Z.
Get the tequila flight, it is amazing! The food is superb also, however be prepared for quite a wait. Put your name down and go for a drink nearby :)
P. B.
Casual atmosphere, great food, friendly staff. What more could you ask for? Book though. It gets busy
T. S.
Food was delicious and so was the drinks. Couldn't have asked for better staff either! Would recommend
M. M.
Was not disappointed!
Highly recommend eating here, added bonus for coeliacs; the menu is pretty much all GF 😁
s. p.
above average Mexican food. loved that corn cob. tapas were so so. good mix of tequila and beer. more pics on ig @shauneeie
K. L.
Came for a late night snack, friendly service and wonderful atmosphere. Get the corn on the cob ! 🌽 quesadillas were pretty good too !
J. C.
Excellent Mexican food. Great vibe and great service. We had a great time!
K. W.
First time visit and had a wonderful time sitting at the bar with friends. Max was great help with food and drink recommendations.
A. P.
Fast and great service. Awesome drinks. Food is occasionally not to the same standard. Overall a great place to eat
W. k.
Pretty decent mexican joint, staff were super friendly, nice atmosphere, food was good, highlight was the duck and pineapple flautas. Delish :)
A. T.
I'am a foodie and would love to experiment different cuisines and I just loved the food here it was great and the service was really good and would love to visit soon with bunch of people
Many Thanks!
V. D.
Food was great and the atmosphere was incredible. Very accomodating to special requests. First time here.
L. H.
Best Mexican in Melbourne FULL STOP! Well and truly worth the wait. And one of the best ranges of tequila to boot!
D. L.
melbournes hottest mexican restaurant of 2011,2012. quick, intense, tasty mexican. long lines, but definitely worth the wait for the grilled corn on the cob!
C. P.
Amazing food - superb flavours. Impeccable service. Really friendly staff. We’ll be back!!!
