Comments of Navi
A. O.
This is my new fav restaurant. Very nicely decorated, intimate but not overwhelming. The food is great, all have really fresh flavors. If you are looking for heavy strong tastes then this place might not be for you. The staff is very nice and not rushing us to finish any dishes, unlike a lot of other fancy restaurants nowadays just want to get as many slots in as possible. Navi only gives one table one slot so that you can really enjoy the food and conversation. Booking is hard to get so be prepared. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I didn't really know what to expect from Navi when I managed to secure one of their hard to get bookings. Every single dish we ate had ingredients I'd never have thought would work together... And yet every dish was amazing! The service was top notch, I'll be sure to come back! Do yourself a favour and try Navi out 😊

Almost forgot these photos. I’ve had a wonderful but truly long dinner here last year with one of my best friends. It’s a set menu so we don’t bother to decide which to choose. I actually enjoyed everything except for the duck. The presentation of all the food was incredible. I enjoyed quite a lot that night.
G. G.
First time fine dinning since covid, such wonderful experience with very unique taste for each dish. Every single dish is a surprise and opened my eyes for the beautiful art work. It’s a bit pricey but worth the experience and definitely recommend this place. Very hard and long waiting period for booking though.

🍽 $145 8 Course Degustation
Navi offers an intimate, contemporary fine dining experience almost hidden a quiet street of Yarraville. The name itself means “Local” in Cherokee, which is a nod to owner and chef Julian hills heritage. The restaurant is his dream, if you book the Chef’s Bar he will personally serve and explain each carefully curated dish for you.
You can choose from either a 5 or 8 course Degustation menu, we wanted to try as much as possible so we went with 8. There were around 19 different dishes, it felt never ending (in a good way). Dish after dish we were wowed, so beautifully presented, flavourful and inventive. It was truely exciting.
My favourite dish and definite standout was the Bay Bug Crepe, it was so creamy and intriguing with the brown butter sauce. One of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Other highlights from the menu were the famous Garlic and Roe Macarons, Pumkin Pie and Spring Pea and Feta.
Navi is quite possibly one of the most impressive restaurants I have ever dined at. The sitting took 3.5 hours but did not feel like it. The value is fantastic for fine dining and it is the first time I have ever left one so full.
I highly recommend this experience and I would 100% visit again, granted I can score a booking! They have recently renovated to expand and add a Lounge where you can walk in for a drink and small snacks. They are currently booked out until March 2022 but you can add yourself to a waiting list.

This review is for Navi Lounge. Well crafted cocktails in an intimate relaxed and well appointed space. Fantastic staff and the best bar snacks you will experience.
T. S.
Visited the newly opened lounge. Was relaxing and has very special cocktails. Food is innovative, using native ingredients and flavours. Perfect for pre dinner drinks and nibbles.

Oh Navi, my favourite restaurant.. Forget any other high end restaurants, go to Navi and you will be more than satisfied... 5 star service, 5 star food. Utilises native ingredients so respectfully and not one dish was a disappointment. A stand out is the duck in many ways, lobster in betel leaf also very memorable. Such a humble place, thank you.

Navi is a small, intimate restaurant with good service and food. I had the 8 course tasting menu and each dish (not sure how they're counted but it was more than 8) was beautifully presented and cooked well. Not every dish was to my taste but that's not uncommon for me. Favourite dish of the night was the dessert with insanely creamy ice cream (?) and plum; it was perfection. They use seasonal ingredients so they don't have a set menu as such, but they do have a sample menu on their website and can cater for different dietary requirements. I also had a couple of mocktails with my meal, which were okay.
C. L.
A humble and intimate atmosphere complimented by lovely food and staff. The head chef takes time out of the kitchen to speak with diners. Will definitely come back again.
A. L.
We love having this exceptional restaurant in our ‘hood. First look at the beautiful expanded dining room, reception area and fab bar. Love the soft curtained spaces, the light and colours.
The meal was next level brilliant. So creative and delicious. Perfect produce and a showcase of when cooking is an art, delighting all the senses. Great service.
Bravo Julian and team, you’ve come out the other side of the pandemic better than ever - a very special restaurant.
L. J.
Great dinner experience! Food is very dedicated. Surprising combination of taste. I had to leave earlier and the chef offered to pack the dessert in small box for take away, very thoughtful! Six star service.
J. C.
I waited years to secure a booking here (partly my fault) and it was worth the wait. I would say this is a cultural food experience to an extent, and you need be a foodie as such to enjoy it. Service was great and the different food across the 8 course menu was delicious. The duck was quite easily our favourite and i could not compare it to any duck i have ever eaten before. Great job to the Navi team, highly recommend for foodie experience.

This is my number 1 restaurant in Melbourne to go to whenever I want to fine dine & wine. Absolutely gorgeous food, delicious drinks and the friendliest staff. Our very personable & knowledgeable sommelier/ front of house remembers our names on repeat visits, as well as specific allergies! A+++ all around.
C. G.
Well here is an absolute gem of a restaurant. The food presentation, flavours and ingredients create a dinning experience that you would be hard pressed to get anywhere else. The chef bringing dishes to the table and explaining what they are adds to the dinning the experience and all of this at prices that are extraordinarily reasonable. This place needs to be dinned at for a culinary journey along with supporting the venue
D. F.
If there is a better fine dining restaurant this side of the Maribyrnong please point me in that direction, as the drinks, service, food and general ambiance are wonderful.
'Post lockdowns', there is a lack of service and hospitality skills amongst the general populous, however Navi appears to ahead of the game here;
the less experienced staff, and obviously there are some, are guided and coached subtlety and patiently in the background by their peers. This is lovely to see.
The experience is beautifully coordinated with a polished, yet relaxed execution. Its pretty impressive, and extraordinary (unique even) for a 'Western' establishment.
We were especially impressed by the matching alcohol and non alcohol selections; they just worked.
Grab a table whenever you can, join the wait list and go and enjoy
S. a.
Amazing experience with their truffle menu. Everything was perfect, food service and environment.
R. B.
Service wasn’t that great. The manager lady (i think) could use a better attitude to explain that you don’t do birthday cake, instead she was quite sarcastic. Food was above average, but I wouldn’t waste my time again to get up at 10am and booked a table just for this. oh no thank you.
D. M.
Exceptional!
Fantastic food, great wine and wonderful staff. Hidden gem in the suburb. Loved that we could do take home meals (& baked goodies) during lockdown.
A. S.
Enjoy the degustation menu which takes you on a wistful journey through contemporary interpretations of classical cuisine crafted with local Australian produce.
A lovely evening was had grazing a wide selection of various dishes and wines. Well worth booking ahead for.
The bar is open for walk-ins too.
Will be back.
D.
Excellent restaurant serving modern Australian cuisine with a focus on using Australian ingredients (including native plants). Service was attentive without being stuffy. Decor had a focus on natural tones (dark stone, wood, etc). Food was great with lots of new way to present food and flavours. Head chef Julian Hills came around to talk to us about the dishes and thank us for attending. It was a very lovely evening.
M. S.
Amazing dinning experience in the inner west. Intimate and cosy. The duck main course was pristine and 5 courses more than enough. Will be back again.
T. J.
An absolute must visit for anyone who enjoys fine dining. A wonderful degustation menu, with matching wines that really tied it all together.
My husband has a seafood allergy, which was discussed and catered for, again, with matching wines for his specific meals.
The staff are amazing, knowledgeable, friendly and approachable.
Yes, it's rather expensive, but well worth it.
I. W.
CREATIVE MENU, GREAT SERVICE AND A NICE AMBIENCE
Four of us dining at Navi on a Friday evening. It was our first visit. The restaurant is cozy with just five tables and a long bar sitting area. It is well furnished and has great noise control. The tables are quite spacious and there is a generous space between tables.
The restaurant is all on a one level (including the toilets) so people with mobility issues will have no problem.
We were served the eleven-course degustation menu – which sounds like too much food but the serves were appropriately sized and with good timing between them.
The wait staff were delightful, carefully listening to our requests (no sweetbread for two of us) and sent the sommelier over to help choose the wines to accompany the meal (as we had elected not to go with the matched wines).
The food was delicious and was very well presented. At each course we were given a detailed description on the dish and its origins.
It was a reasonably long night – from 7 – 11 pm but seemed to pass quite quickly with the lively conversation and good wines 😊
All up (with several bottles of wine) we paid ~$950 in total.
Not cheap, but well worth it.
Parking isn’t difficult as the restaurant is not in a busy area.
S. J.
Outstanding new restaurant, exhibiting the best of Australian ingredients with flawless execution. One of Melbourne’s best new restaurants.
Service was unobtrusive but attentive, and the presentation and explanation of some of the dishes by the chef himself was a nice touch.
I would not be surprised if this restaurant makes a ‘World’s Best’ list in the future.
B. C.
The best degustation I have ever had. We paired wines as well and they were paired perfectly. I thought the price point was quite reasonable given the quality of food! I would go back again and again if I could!
M. V.
Wow what can I say. Simply one of the most amazing dining experiences I’ve had. Nestled away on Gamon street, Navi is truly one of a kind. Staff were incredibly accommodating, knowledgeable and warm. Food was prepared and presented meticulously as was the selection of accompanying beverages. The restaurant itself was intimate, the glances I shared with the guests around me felt that we shared a sense of wonder at this marvellous menu. Everything was local / homely, a very Australian feel compounded by the knowledge of the staff.
I’ll be back, I don’t know when but I know I will. AMAZING.
C. L.
Great little dinner of multiple courses mostly composed of local and Australian native ingredients. Highly recommended for a 3 hour meal (choose your guests wisely).
J. D.
An amazing gourmet dining experience in the inner west. Finally got a chance to visit post COVID and was not disappointed. Went for the paired wine selections and they were phenomenally matched. Everything from staff to atmosphere to dishes were super thoughtful and professional.
R. D.
Really good food and atmosphere. Very quickly became one of my favorite restaurants in Melbourne.
L. B.
Our best food experience since the Fat Duck in Bray. The chef Julian really seems to care about each detail and the sommelier knew her stuff, introducing us to honey water. Fantastic experience
R. C.
One of the best dégustation meals we’ve had anywhere in Australian. Attention to detail in course structure and taste experience nothing short of brilliant.Julien Hills on the pans and his excellent attentive floor staff led by Tara Wilson make Navi a wonderful dining experience
Headed for at least 2 Chef’s Hats
A. C.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Navi. Everything about the food, from the preparation to presentation, taste and delivery was stunning. There is a focus on using local ingredients and the provenance is explained throughout, adding to the experience. The staff were friendly and helpful and super efficient. If there was one small niggle it would be the high noise level in the restaurant. Diners voices bouncing off many hard surfaces made it difficult to converse at times. Some sound dampening would be a useful addition.
G.
What a magnificent dining experience, absolutely fantastic food & impeccable service.
D. Q.
Great food and fantastic. A little pricy at $120 a head, with drinks extra, but a really interesting and varied degustation menu with an Indigenous Australian touch. Well worth a visit but book early to get in.
m. w.
My husband managed to score us a table for 4 on my birthday. We had been on the standby list as it’s a restaurant I had been dying to get to for ages! We were not disappointed. The service, decor, food and drink and some special attention due to the fact it was my birthday was truly worth the wait. Julian’s menu is superb. An absolute delight to any palate, considerate to the needs of our one crustacean allergy guest and an exploration of regional and seasonal produce. Thankyou team Navi x
S. M.
Best fine dining venue i've been to in Melbourne. I've been to all the big hitters (which i won't mention) but every bite at Navi was sublime. Service was impeccable. We got to sit at the bar and watch the chef's prepare each plate for service. It is truly a special place to go.
T. V. L.
Best fine dining experience in the West! Enjoyed every dish and good service.
T. P.
What a hidden gem in the suburb! The service was great, the food was excellent and the 4 course Sat late lunch was surprisingly well worth it- can’t imagine how much better it would be for a proper 8 courses experience.
Every dish was presented with the ingredients mentioned, the first and last courses were delivered by the chef himself. Plus the beautiful tableware made by the chef.
After checking on others’ posts, the dishes changed a fair bit - only the bread is the same. Most dishes I had were different from posts last month. It’s a good reason to go back again.
The only downside is it is so hard to book. It took me a few months and an alarm setup for a booking for 2.
A. f.
Lovely small restaurant in a nonchalant bit of Yarraville. Beautifully presented foraged food. Something special.
E. M.
Navi was a very unique and intimate dining experience. The service was outstanding and we particularly enjoyed meeting the owner/head chef who delivered some of the dishes. We can't wait to go back.
T. P.
What a gastronomical dining experience. Had the 8 course and each dish was delicious 🙌
F. M.
We stoped into the bar area for a cocktail after dinner. Some seriously good flavours in the cocktails.
A.
I've came here once and keep coming back for more! The art of food is where this restaurant lies. From taste to presentation to the exquisite service. By far, one of my favorite restaurant and I will be coming back for more! P.s if you want to know a little story of the wine you're drinking, here is the place to be!
A. T.
Great addition to the west. Very fine dining and interesting experimental food.
P. P.
What a fantastic restaurant! Great food, great wine pairing and great staff both in the kitchen and front of house. The dishes are innovative, well thought through and smoothly executed. This hidden gem in Seddon is excellent value for money
D. P.
Wow what a great addition to the area, amazing flavours. I highly recommend for a special experience and quality service
k.
Staff are great, drinks reasonably price and come with theatre, bar snacks are amazing
S. A.
Thank you to Chef Julian and his team. He put together an amazing 4 course menu. Each dish was full of flavour and perfectly balanced while the waiters were extremely professional and friendly. I can't wait to visit Navi again
S. D. R.
We had the most amazing dinner there last weekend celebrating our anniversary. The dishes were technically amazing, the flavours and combinations were interesting and surprising, and we loved sitting up on the chefs table and chatting to Julian and the team. We also got a signed menu at the end of the night as a keepsake for a very special day. 11/10 would absolutely recommend!
M.
This was a very unique dining experience. We visited Navi on our wedding anniversary and absolutely loved it.
The food was truly amazing and the service was impeccable. It was a real special treat to have the chef bring us some of our dishes and talk to us.
The place is very small and intimate and it was lovely to have such a wonderful food experience.
c. a.
Wow! Just wow. So worth the 3 month wait to eat here. Incredible food, wonderful small dining room with open kitchen and the chef who talks to all as he and his team deliver simply outstanding, unique and beautiful degustation based on current fresh ingredients and an amazing palate and technique. reasonably priced for the amazing quality of food, presented on gorgeous home-made plates. Book now, and enjoy a very special dinner at this wonderful restaurant.
N. Q.
Perfection. Loved every moment. The rhubarb sorbet was a highlight.
W. O.
We went to celebrate friend’s birthday. After reading many great reviews about Navi, it certainly wow us! We had over 10 courses, which were all delicately prepared and beautifully crafted with exceptional unique Victorian produce. Genuine great service by Julian the chef and our table staff, they took time to explain the food and where it comes from and how it was prepared and cooked. A true fine dinning experience without the formality! Love it....
J. D.
Navi made our anniversary special with an amazing and inventive 10 course degustation menu. The amount of food was perfect but I didn't want the experience to end. The service staff were attentive and knowledgeable and the owner engaging yet focused. I was also very impressed that the owner had hand made the ceramic serving wear. I couldn't help but pick up the plates and admire the craftsmanship.
A. S.
The food was among the best I've ever eaten. The amount of flavour packed into each bite was unbelievable. The local ingredients, specific flavours used, as well as the native floral decor really evoked the Australian landscape.
The interior itself is something else. The space is beautifully designed and its smaller venue size, coupled with the open kitchen, feels very intimate. The chefs themselves serve some of the meals to you.
The service from staff was outstanding throughout the night. Very professional, but also warm, approachable and friendly. I felt the entire experience was worth every dollar I spent here.
P. J.
Well worth the cost and booking in. Just the right size and variety.
T. F.
Amazing food, really interesting concepts and flavours, way better than brae at a fifth of the cost, lovely staff. Wish the acoustics were a bit better and maybe the lighting sorted a bit, but amazing apart from that. Highlights were the octopus, the duck consomme & custard, and the wattleseed chocolate caramel.
N. C.
Amazing dinner at Navi! We sat at the bar area watching everything happen while enjoying the 8 course tasting menu with matching drinks. Especially loved the local produce and variety of courses. The crockery and decor is all very beautiful but the quality of the dishes is the real highlight, better than tasting menus we’ve had that were twice the price. We will be back!
A. M.
Have just enjoyed a wonderful degustation lunch at Navi with two girlfriends. My children gave me a voucher for mother’s day. I’ll definitely being going back with my husband. Beautiful minimalist fitout with plenty of space between tables. The music was low and unobtrusive. Very relaxing ambiance. We couldn’t fault anything. The food and service were superb. Each course was an explosion of flavours beautifully presented and just the right amount. The staff were friendly and professional. We left knowing that we would be back again.
R. a. C.
This restaurant is beautiful from the moment you speak to staff, the wonderful team were friendly and catered to your every need. Staff can make or break your experience in a gorgeous restaurant like this and they truly took it to the next level. Having the head chef hand deliver what i can only assume to be his favourite dishes, was not only exciting, but really added to the intimate feel of Navi! The food was some of the best we have had across the world, it was fresh and full of flavour!!! We can't wait to get back there, even if its to just watch the team in the kitchen again, it was hard not to just stare in awe at the well oiled machine setting up dish after dish in front of us!!!!
E. M.
So lucky to have this fine dining establishment in our 'hood!
D. L.
Fine dinning in Seddon, who'd would of thought. Navi stacks up as good if not even better than CBD fine dining locations. Everything you would expect in a fine dinning experience in a cosy intimate setting. Kitchen is visible from all seating locations. Sommelier picked out two fantastic bottles.
Highly recommend!
N. G.
What to say ... it was maybe the best dining experience i had in my life , everything was perfect , at this level of skills it's not passion, it's obsession !
petit fours , entree , main , cheese , desserts 100 per cent satisfaction , they know what they are doing and the atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing , you feel comfortable and lucky to be there . Also pretty affordable for the amount and quality of dishes . They care and you can feel it. Impressive professionals , and they will be rewarded for it ...
T. L.
To have a restaurant of this calibre in our humble little suburb is a gift. The food is what you would find in the best restaurants in Melbourne, delicate flavours, perfectly served and very original. Staff were amazing and the whole evening ran so smoothly. Needless to say, we will be back.
Thank you Navi
B. C.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here last Saturday night. Every morsel of food was delicious and savoured every mouthful. We had the matching wines and were very impressed with their selections. We sat at the bar area and watched everything and everyone run like clock work. Thank you to you and your team.
N. L.
The food at Navi is very intelligent, with a purity that allows it to highlight its exemplary ingredients . Every dish is carefully constructed, well balanced in texture and flavour, and cooked beautifully. It truly is a special menu, grounding and uplifting at the same time. I love how (head chef) Julian Hills features native Australian ingredients. I found his cooking deeply respectful. He is such a lovely person and his kitchen is very calm. The servers were so warm and polite. Along with Sixpenny in Sydney, this has been one of my most treasured and moving dining experiences. Thank you Navi, for having us.
C. B.
We were lucky enough to get tickets to a Good Beer Week event. Each dish was matched perfectly to a beer. The service was seamless, and the food was out of this world. So awesome to have such a restaurant in the west.
T. N.
An intimate dining space is welcoming, greeted by a team of friendly staff. A lot of love has gone into both food and setting. Beautiful hand made plates has been crafted by the talented chef himself Julian Hills. We were fortunate to score a spot at the chef’s table. A delightful degustation menu with matching wines, sake and dark ale. I couldn’t pull myself away from choosing an ultimate favourite, so I have to say I have two favourites: the macaron and sweetbread. A visit to Navi was not just about eating ... it was about an experience. Looking forward to bringing friends, next time we visit.
M. K.
Absolutely wonderful! Delicious food, fast served and attentive table service. A large selection of food all cooked to perfection, well worth the spend and more!
K. P.
Very good food and ideas overall!!
Service was impeccable, professional but at the same time "cozy".
Loved it and really recommended.
B. W.
This place is not to be missed, the small seater allows for dinners to have an intimate experience where every course is attention to detail. The food here is some of the best I have ever eaten and it is not very often I go back to a place (there are so many resturants to try in Melbourne) but I have been back 3 time this year - their truffle week was amazing, I'm still dream about there pork taco - it sounds simple but dont let that fool you, the technique it took to make this dish was next level!
C. G.
Can't wait to come back
We had the perfect experince dining with Navi today, the food was delicious and the service was exceptional. It was a nice touch having the chef come and serve a few of our dishes.

Amazing quality, creativity and flavours.
Will definitely be back.

Fantastic!
Had a wonderful meal here last night with the matching beverages. Well priced, friendly and efficient. Of the dozen or so plates, only one real miss, otherwise excellent
I. H.
Wonderful restaurant. Very small and intimate (less than 30 seats), the food is incredible and the staff and owner are all friendly and knowledgeable. Loved the degustation menu and I like knowing that I can go again in the future and have a completely different meal. Not cheap but well worth it.
R. H.
I have enjoyed Navi at Home twice and Navi Bakery and OMG they are so so good I never want Navi to stop these services! Thankyou so much for making ISO more enjoyable by being able to celebrate special occasions with your delicious food at home
