R. A.Popped past on a cool late April afternoon. Seating is in the surrounding
public park which is then surrounded by water. Prices are reasonable. We decided that 10 fish bites was going to be much better value than 2 flakes and were not disappointed. Fish, chips and potatoes cakes were all nice and crunchy.
D. H.Could this be best fish and chips in Victoria? Australia? Pretty big call but all I know is that today after reading some of the shops reviews my family and I travelled to Port Albert and sat in the car eating what was unanimously the best fish and chips we had come across.
The freshness of the fish (Flake and Sand Whiting) was something to remember with the perfect batter. Prawns and scollops added to the mix with chips went so well with the view of the boats coming in and out.
We drove from Yanakie (near Wilson's Prom) to Port Albert based on reviews, and hope this review sends a few more travellers to this little gem :)

L. S.This is very busy shop. Quite strict on the rule, 4 max in the shop!! Choice is a bit limited!! The taste is good! But it is not place I will go especially for fish and chips. This is nice place to sit and eat beside the bay! Very windy though, and can be quite cold even under the sun.

J. L.I have had two visits to this great fish and chip shop, when visiting from QLD. It’s the best fish/chips/potato cakes I’ve eaten. The King George Whiting is fabulous.
S. L.Fish was fresh and good. Some local, some not - you just need to ask. We ordered a large chips, which was big enough for four adults, a little over brown for me but my friends loved the quality. We ordered flake, rock flathead, King George whiting, sand whiting, flathead tails, baby scallops, prawns and a potato cake. All cooked well. It all came in the same box so we couldn’t tell which fish was which. No lemon available, but a variety of tomato sauce and tartare sauce. Unfortunately sit down restaurant was not open due to staff shortages, but we sat out on the very windy marina to enjoy.
J. J.Beautiful whiting sold here. Battered scallops and prawns great too. Chips were ok but the calamari tasted like cheap frozen supermarket stuff. Theres a bit of confusion surrounding the “4 people only” in the shop rule. People were left floundering outside not knowing who could enter or who’s turn next etc. Might be best to set up a line for people to wait in outside as there were several people waiting their turn outside and a guy just walked through past everyone and jumped the queue to order, I could see why though as he must have assumed we were all waiting on our orders when in fact we were waiting to see who’s turn it was next to order. Beautiful location and plenty of chairs and tables around to picnic at. One thing…what fish and chip shop doesn’t put a wedge of lemon in the seafood packs???? This one! Shame on you lol.
l. b.Your normal fish and chips by the beach. Good food. If you're thinking of getting the fisherman's basket, avoid that and put some extra stuff with other fish. They use fish bites. Only ended up with 2 small pieces in mine. Would go again, just not for that.
b.Amazing fish and chips, the fish was so fresh it melted in your mouth. Mind you, you had to wait around 10 to 15 minutes as the crowd wanting to order was out side in there droves. Werth the wait. 👍
M. S.Crispy batter fish & hot chips by the bay! Loved it. Port Albert is going through a massive transformation. Drop by before it gets too busy. There is a boat/kayak rental. Book it beforehand. The Museum was closed for COVID when we dropped by in Dec 2020.

L. S.What a gem. Customer service was great, portions good, 5 minute wait time and the fish fresh. The small whiting pieces are great, crumbed calamari were described as "the real deal" and I 100% agree, and homemade tartare sauce so good. This place needs the crowds to return as it was dead quiet the night we went and we were lucky they were open. Hours often changing as the world opens up, so give them a call and get in there. Better than most fish and chip joints I've found in Melbourne, and definitely better than I experienced at Phillip Island.

We went for fish and chips but were lucky to get a booking for the restaurant.
The meals were outstanding, ambient light and surroundings overlooking the boats and village.
Our young waiter was a perfect gentleman and could not do enough to please.

The flake is amazingly delicious and the chips are great. Visit this tasty delight but watch out for cheeky seagulls outside. T. S.We were recommended this place from our B and B in fish creek. First things first... Expect to wait. We arrived around 1:30 and waited over 25 minutes for the food.. . Be warned! The fish was standard flake and the batter is really good! The chips were nothing special and a bit too salty to be honest, but the fish and other seafood made up for it. The staff were very average... Kind of a fake nice. It was obvious they were tired / backed up and ready for the rush to end. There is no seating indoor... So plan on getting pestered by seagulls on the nearby benches. Sadly we saw too many idiots feeding them left over chips... So the birds are accustomed to hanging around for left overs. Long story short... Great flake and batter... But a long wait and no real quiet eating place.
p. h.Probably the best fish and chips in Victoria that we have found so far. The fish was very fresh and the batter was crisp. Unfortunately the potato scallops didn't use the same batter, but were still very good.
It is still a stock standard fish and chip shop, but does the fish very well and in a picturesque location.

T. M.This place came highly recommended from many sources, it didn't live up to the hype. I asked what was in their seafood basket and was told one of everything. I attempted to clarify if that meant one of every type of fish on their menu and was told yes, it turned out to be the frozen one you can get anywhere. My husband had flathead and enjoyed it, but it certainly wasn't anything special.
