Layer on the sauce and roll out the beef, has very nice trimmings for a hearty night’s meal. The soft lighting and modern decor in this classy Aussie restaurant gives a fabulous casual feel. Great pork rib and steaks, cooked well for well down steak.

Posting on behalf of my partner as he is the meat eater. His 200 gram steak was very good, and he is very picky on steaks. As a vego, would be good to have more healthy vegetarian options but i get that it is a steak restaurant. Only bread option was garlic bread available would have wanted just plain bread and butter option. The sauce and sides seemed pretty high in price - $5 per small sauce tub to add to $50 steak. The Greek salad was delicious! The service was okay, waited a while for menu I had to ask for one. Ambiance was good, beautiful restaurant. Odd choice of music last night 😂🎶 techno, deep house vibes while eating a fancy steak anyone? 😅

I ate the 300 gram grass fed scotch fillet with chips and blue cheese sauce and the trio of sorbet for dessert. The steak was cooked perfectly and very tender, the chips also cooked perfectly and very hot, the blue cheese sauce was very strong so I didn't use much. The trio of sorbet was very refreshing and great finish to the meal. The staff were friendly and efficient the service prompt and courteous. The food along with a Corona beer came to a total of $77.50, if you like a good steak give this place a try.

Lets start with food, The quality of food is great. Everything were fresh. We ordered entrees for two ($40), which was good and tasty. Was a little bit expensive. Our steak was perfectly cooked. However It needed more salt and paper. It was also a little bit sweet, which was weird for me and my partner. The atmosphere was also okay. Staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. Its a 4.5 restaurant, however there is no 4.5 so I give 4. Its not 5stars because I expect more when u pay $$$.

Such attentive service. Never have I had such an amazing sticky date pudding which arrived with hot butterscotch sauce and a pudding that was so indulgent and decadent. The steaks were quite tender and came with a choice of potato mash or chips.

Best service ever! I was served a medium steak even if I ordered rare, and they did everything to correct the situation. They were very apologetic and gave me the right steak. On top of that, they gave us complimentary dessert, which was so delicious! It was flourless chocolate cake, and it was the best one I've tasted. Service staff is very gracious and attentive. Would return just for the service. Steak is also good! And the blue cheese sauce is amazing. Mashed potato could use more seasoning however

We were a party of 10. The staff were super friendly and very helpful, from front of house, to wait staff. The food was delicious, as usual; high quality, and served as requested. We had a lovely night and would very much recommend Rare Steakhouse Downtime if you are looking for a venue.

This is beyond one of the best steak restaurants in the city! This is the 2nd time we have been and again, they did not disappoint. The food is to die for, the service is incredible - all in all, would definitely come again and would recommend to all to try!

I'm not sure if it's because of my taste, I don't think I like it very much. The taste of steak is a bit sour to me, but the service staff and the counter staff are very friendly and kind, and they also asked about the status of the meal, although I didn't like it very much. , but I think the staff made me feel very good

Excellent customer service, staff was very welcoming, food was just amazing. Cant find anything negative to point out. Me and my friends enjoyed every item that was served. Garlic bread was outstanding, one of the best ive tried. Prices are a bit expensive, but cant say overpriced for the service and quality they provide. Highly recommend!

I normally do not write reviews, however, I felt as though within this experience, I must. Everything was absolutely superb - from the staff (our waitress was named Amy, she was lovely) to the food and to the chefs. Compliments to them all - they have made the whole experience worthwhile - my friend and I will most definitely return.

15/11/21 Came here for an anniversary lunch with my partner. Originally had the T-Bone steak medium rare and the Scotch fillet on a medium. T-bone was really chewy and I had notified the manager who graciously got us another steak which was the Eye Fillet medium rare. Highly recommend the Eye Fillet and the Scotch fillet with creamy garlic sauce on the side! Do get the sorbet for dessert. So refreshing! But don’t get it with the spirits. Thank you to the friendly staff that made our lunch super enjoyable.

We had a great meal. Our steaks were just as we asked & very tender. One of us had the pork ribs & I've decided I'll have them next time, they were so tasty. Another had the vegan meal & loved hers too. The sweets were yummy & the service was fabulous. Well done all at Downtown.

Could not have had a better experience. After an unfortunate misunderstanding that led to us initially being unable to attend our first meal, management were prompt, punctual and gracious in their response allowing us the opportunity to dine here again. What an experience. The service is top notch and the food is unrivalled. We were so grateful for the opportunity to dine here and it ended up being one of the very few places you can wholeheartedly recommend for a quality and value for money.

Excellent service. They know their steaks. And the portions of the other stuff is well balanced too. We went through all the way yo dessert feeling juuust the right amount of full. Initially i thought the steak was small (for 300g) but again, perfectly sized. Atmosphere nice and dim but the table was well lit. Definitely worth it if you're into steaks meats and a bit of class for your dinner party.

Rare Steakhouse definitely did not disappoint and exceeded our expectations with their level of service, ambience and most importantly, the food. Their eye fillet steak was tender, succulent and cooked to perfection. Paired excellently with a glass of red. Super excited to check out their two other locations in Melbourne!

Been here a few times now, I highly recommend the Eye fillet with sweet potato fries. One of the best steaks in town and my new go-to steak place whenever I'm craving meat. Service is really nice and they know their wine recommendations which is ways helpful. We tried the rib eye once and it was full of fat (not the flavoursome kind) so would not recommend that cut unless you like it chewy. Also tried the beef ribs but found them a little chewy. Stick to the cut of meat you usually like or go for the eye fillet and you won't be disappointed. Update November 2021 - visited again, prices for the steak have gone up $5, realised the sauce is also $5 which I think is a bit of a rort. And, when I checked in and tried to show my vacc cert at the door the lady behind the counter shrugged it off and said no need, we are happy to just have diners in the store again. This is NOT okay. So not assume that people are "over" this vaccination topic - I am not comfortable sitting around unvaccinated people, and, it is the law. So do your job next time and don't make assumptions. Still my favourite steak place in town but was a little unpleasantly surprised.
