Perfection! We came for the Lunch Menu and everything we ordered was amazing and fresh, with unique flavours! The best one for me was the Sweet Pork and the Croquette Balls. The staff was very kind and assisted us in everything. Even better because we came and it wasn’t busy and the vibe was calm and chill. Totally worth the price.

Super yumm Asian Restaurant. Food is super tasty, sumptuous and finger licking. Their signature Pork Belly with Chilly Caramel is a must try. Staff and service are really good.
G. P.
Out of the world flavours and amazing service! They were kind enough to replace beef with tofu and yet made it seemingly even better. Ordered a couple of cocktails including chilli chilli bang bang perfectly complimenting the food. If I had to critique I would have preferred Betel Leaf to be a little tender

Would recommend, we decided to go with the Thai Bus option which was the largest selection. Everything was delicious and had its unique taste. Staff were friendly and ambience was good. The pork belly, croquet, scallops and the beef were stand outs.
Only gave a 4 stars as the wait between the entrees and mains took almost 30 mins and by then we were fill and resorted to just tasting the mains. The dessert was ok, the flavours were overpowered by the passionfruit and the pandan ice cream didn't offset like we were hoping.
Either way highly recommend visiting

Amazing food - just go for any tasting menu to have a great dinner experience. The pork belly? Yum!. And we will not forget the friendly and helpful staff. Thanks.
L. T.
Possibly some of the best Southeast Asian food I've had in a long time. The flavours remind me of home in the Philippines and the staff are all lovely and accommodating. Naturally, it's on the pricier side but it's absolutely worth it and leaves you full and happy.

I was so excited to see Red Spice Road was open during these tough times and even more so when they delivered the same high quality food they always have. Over 7 different dishes every single one was as delicious as the last and the meal for my table of 4 was memorable. I am so glad to be able to return to what I feel is one Melbourne's premier dining establishments.

service efficient. staff helpful. set menu was more than enough food. food was all pretty tasty except the beef shins which were a bit dry. staff did struggle with the computer at time of paying, leading to a bit of delay. would recommend.

Had a table booked with my partner last night. Amazing food and fantastic service. Staff were attentive and took extra caution with our allergies. We had the Tuk Tuk menu and it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the pork belly and fish curry. Great ambience. So glad to see it reopened. 5 stars from me!
C. H.
Always super delicious food. Pork belly is the absolute star, but I've been going to Red Spice Road regularly for over 10 years and they just don't make anything that's not great. Couldn't recommend it's highly enough. Also have great vegetarian options if that's your thing (but if not then definitely make sure you get the pork belly!).
K. D.
I'm a huge fan of Red Spice Road and the infamous pork belly! and whilst looking forward to coming back to dine at Red Spice Road with my family for my birthday, I was utterly disappointed. The food as always was amazing but the service tonight was very poor. We were waiting for over thirty minutes to order drinks and whilst we attempted to reach the staffs attention on numerous occasions, their backs were always towards us, there were a good ratio of waiters per table just not attentive. I have had a much better experience at Red Spice Road in previous years but this time it was a complete let down!
S. E.
Went to Red Spice Road with a friend for dinner the other week to try the new menu. Was blown away by how delicious the food was, every dish was awesome and had its own individual flavour. Will definitely be going back with more friends.

I'm glad they are back but.....
We went for CNY- fixed menu which was great but I have to mark them down in a few areas.
No Gluten free options due to the soy sauce used in cooking had gluten- hello chefs Kikkoman make a catering size gluten free soy- very nice. We have one at home...
No rice served-
We had to order that separately. No rice with Asian? Ridiculous...
No coffee or tea with fixed menu...
The service was slow- one waiter had really had body odour. We waited over 20 mins for one cocktail and they were only 50% booked...
The food was really nice- hopefully they can tend to the other issues
D. R.
Organised a party for 20 to celebrate an important occasion. The staff were amazing and accommodating and simply lovely. The food was divine and the experience a second to none. If you haven’t tried this restaurant you must!

An absolute favourite of mine, I’ve been countless times for lunch and dinner and it’s never disappointed. Always consistently good food and service. Great Asian fusion flavours and value for money with their lunch banquet. You will get a starter and 5 dishes including their pork belly for $35, and the menu changes every few weeks.
H. N.
Amazing quality and tasting food. Comes with a higher price tag obviously. Have been here for both dinner and lunch. Positive experiences both times. Customer service is excellent. Moderately filling serving sizes. Expect to pay for the taste rather than quantity. Atmosphere and decor is quite good. Mostly clean all the time. Location is also good in the city. No dedicated parking like most city establishments.
N. V.
Amazing place however the seating for a Valentine's Day dinner wasn't so intimate. The dinner was a set menu and we seemed to be sitting at a communal table. Not very intimate for a romantic night. The food was exquisite (minus the pork belly). Service was incredible. Even on such a busy night the staff maintained their professionalism and a timely service. Would definitely recommend for a special night.
K. T.
Food was great, however to spend $300 and have to listen to the head chef say F&$K about 10 times was extremely disappointing and quite offensive. Not sure that l would be happy to go again, and this was one of my favourites 😢
J. L.
I'm very biased against fusion places. It just seems like there's always something out of place or something missing. The food is good but missing some elements. The crispy chicken wings are spicy and hot that you can't really taste any other flavor. The chicken curry is flavorful but lacking heat. The betel leaf red snapper had the consistency and taste of canned tuna with mayo. The pudding had the texture of cold double cream. The ambiance is good and the drinks are pricey because they're upscale and curated and trendy and whatnot. But it's hard to be impressed by the place. I get what they're going for. I just don't know if they pull it off well. Their tasting menus are still good value for money. I mean those beef cheeks alone are quite a good dish. It's just the overall experience is quite average for a place that has so much potential.
K. M.
When a Melbourne restaurant is good, it is extremely good.
We went on the recommendation of our staff member and she was knowledgeable and extrememly helpful.
The food here is fresh and the layers of flavours and textures was almost too good to be true. Highly recommended and will be tempted for a return visit.
A. A.
Really enjoyed our night out here. Service was great, staff were lovely, helpful and friendly, especially our personal waiter; Luke.
Food came out relatively quick for how busy it was. Food was delicious and full of flavor. Bit pricey for the size of the dishes, but worth checking out on a special occasion.
A. O.
Only been here once with a large group and the banquet was ordered for us. The food was absolutely sensational. The pork belly was the best I have ever eaten at any restaurant! There service was great, the room really funky and modern. Only downside is it can be very noisy - but this also adds to the vibe. Really enjoyed this restaurant. Highly recommend. They are about to relocate shortly. See photo.
C. B.
Amazing resturant, very tasty, very beautiful.
Only 1 issue, and the wait staff where so lovely so in no way think that the wair staff are bad. I just dont think there was enough of them or maybe training was lacking.
b. H.
This place is a bomb. Food is super tasty, especially the desserts. Great service and good vibe. Food is fusion style with a twist and surprise. Order the grave cheesecake if they still have it. It's going to give you a spark in your mouth and wow.
S. S.
Love the place, it's ambience, it's good and especially it's servers and specifically our French friend Stephanie! She kept asking if we liked the food and gave us a detailed version of what's on the "Tasting Menu"(which we had for the first time!) for AUD 79 pp..we had to substitute beef and pork due to dietary restrictions.. Loved it! Food was a mixture of both sweet and sour..the Lamb Ribs were to die for..though I literally was on the verge of dying by the time I reached the "Large Plates"..
S. K.
We decided to take the Showcase Menu for $99. Its quite a lot of food and not cheap, but worth to try. I have made a photo of every dish. We suggest to go for a light white wine as it fits to most dishes. The betel leaf and the steamed bao were nice starters. Very fresh and well-balanced. From the small plates, we really liked the Kingfish and the Scallops. And most convincing from the big plates was the pork belly. When you eat the pork belly, dont waste the crust as it is the best part together with the sauce. We all agreed on that. I also enjoyed the Chicken Curry. A little bit creamy, not too spicy, a bit sour from the pickles and also crunchy. A nice feeling in the mouth and also yummy. And dont miss out the dessert. The sorbet was our highlight. Apart from the food, the service was quick and polite and always attentive. The location itself is also nice, but a bit crowded. I have just one suggestion to make: The food/dishes would be even more enjoyable when they would be served in a particular order, e.g. considering the spice level or overall flavour. You cant enjoy a less spicy dish in the way when you had a more spicy dish just before. But as said before, a nice restaurant which we can recommend.
N. F.
Amazing food. Highly recommend the Mandarin dessert.
From the starter under the dessert, all amazingly good. Worth the price.
The location a bit hidden, but the restaurant is so spacious. The staff very friendly and nice. Definitely will come back again soon.
J. G.
Finally re-open enkoyed an amazing experience. Service, food, innovation and atmosphere in a perfect balance for full enjoyment. Hard to find this hospitality profile nowadays in Melbourne
A. A.
Great food and a very trendy atmosphere. I would especially recommend the Rolled rice noodles and torn lamb shoulder, absolutely divine! The Papaya Salad was great, too. A little bit if a pet peeve of mine, but if I order 3 serves of rice (or anything, really) I would prefer seperate portions not a large dish. In fairness, it was a fairly large portion, and not skimped.
Service is not bad, but the last time we were there, our waiter made a joking comment about how fast we went through our food (we skipped lunch so we were famished). He was super nice in general, and later tried to recover, but like, why?
B. A.
Really good experience tonight at Red Spice Road. Thanks to Edy for great waiting; appreciate the advice very much. Lovely menu, not too wide and a good mix of vegetarian and vegan too. True, non-westerised Chinese with rich, original use of herbs, vegetables, and spices. I got the chickpeas and the signature pork belly in mint sauce, wonderfully original in my experience, good quality of raw materials though nothing very expensive in there, and authoritative execution. Room is a bit noisy, and waiters are very busy, which can create an unwanted air of stress. But I were there at peak hours, so maybe it doesn't count. It was a Tuesday though. Can however only recommend it.
R. A.
Friendly staff, fairly priced and delicious food. Modern Asian in a fancy venue. Was surprised how large it was and how many people they had for lunch, but the $36 lunch menu is awesome. I’ll be back for sure.
J. L.
Generous tasting menus, which were explosions of flavour and cooked to perfection. Cocktails exceptional as was the service !
O. D.
Crispy Tofu with Szechuan Spiced Eggplant & Peanut, Sesame!
AND....Most importantly; the Pork Belly!
These guys are known for their AMAZING pork belly, best in Melbourne ❤️🧡💛
Thank you to the amazing Quentin for your faultless service! Loved dining here for a delicious lunch today accompanied with a red wine 🍷
E. R.
Food and drink were excellent but highlight of the night was our server Jane. Exceptional service and the most lovely human <3 went above and beyond and made us feel so welcome! Will definitely be returning
J. J.
Great tasting food in the heart of Melbourne. My friends and I are never disappointed by the range of amazing cuisines. Their drinks selection is on point too! Omg and that pork belly?! Next level! Would definitely recommend this place. We usually go there once a month / maybe every two months? The menu is constantly on rotation so it's hard not to want to go and try whatever new dish they've got going :)
A.
After moving to Sydney for over 6 months now, Red Spice Road is a reminiscent of why I truly love Melbourne. This restaurant is a great reflection of what Melbourne is. In a small alley way, hidden in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Melbourne will you find this two glass doors.
As you enter will you find easily 200-300 people. The vibe, environment, music and smell it is. However the food was the biggest highlight amongst it all. Their cauliflower and the gnocchi with duck was by far the best thing I've ever had.
M. B.
This place never fails. The food is to die for. The ambience is great. The staff are lovely. I love it!
L. R.
Amazing venue with delicious food and exceptional service. We dined as a group and the banquet was incredible! Highly recommend.
M. A.
Everything we had was amazing (except maybe the scallops, still nice but not wow) service was great. Acoustics were really good given how many people there. All in all great experience.
E. C.
Had a fantastic dinner here with family. The service was spot on, very tentative and personal. The food is always amazing here, we especially loved the crispy rice cake with prawn and fish in coconut milk. The curries were excellent too. Reservation highly recommended even on weekdays as this place can become packed very quickly!
D. H.
So great to see RSR back open serving their amazing and tasty food topped off with their friendly team. The Tuk Tuk menu was a great way to get back in touch with the food we have loved over the years. We missed you Pork Belly!!. Well done and welcome back team!!
J.
We did the $79 tasting menu. Originally from Malaysia, I find the flavour is mild. In general, the dishes need to be more sour and spicy.
R. N.
Food and Service were perfect. Would like to see dinner menu changed to al la carte…
N. K.
We just walked past this place and just walked in. A very good customer service and cool ambience to enjoy your meal. I've uploaded photos have a look at it. Our friend Quienten served us the delicious food with warm hospitality. And the food tasted really really awesome.
W. T. S. C.
The popularity of Red Spice Riad should answer the question - should I go there. The express lunch is unbelievable value and full of flavours. Five or was it 6 dishes to share with rice and good size servings. The service is first class and eye catching decor. Plenty of room for larger groups and a private dining room that can sit up to 60 people (I enquired). Not far from Bourke street mall, make sure you pop in next time you are in the CBD or after a quick business lunch.
M. G.
Menu is extremely misleading and the quality of the food isn't reflected in the price. It was OK, but not great like we'd expected.
S. D.
Excellent food and service..nice portions for the 'not so small' plates on their menu..every dish had a twist and we absolutely love it..lovely ambience..we had a ball of a time and the food was top notch..my pics might not do justice to the appearance due to the lighting but food was really really yummy!!
E. H.
The food was amazing as always, and the service is better than the food. Highly recommend.
R. M.
Amazing food and flavors, been here many times and they have never differed in the quality and service. Highly recommended.
M. S.
Oriental Cuisine at its best.
One of my favorite places to visit while I’m in Melbourne. For anyone with an intolerance or allergy you need to eat here. They have a to die for set menu however they will change items to ensure the whole table feels included. Yup. That’s right, the whole table. There is no possible way you could ever walk away from this restaurant feeling unsatisfied or hungry. The pork belly was insanely delicious and an amazing veggie fritter with relish. I mean common! Amazing and veggie fritter in the same sentence?! Who knew!? Also be aware they have the best staff there. Customer service ratings are off the charts.
Please check out my instagram or facebook page @foodpimping for more great food options.
H. V.
We did the set menu of 1 starter & 2 light dishes & 5 main dishes & 1 dessert for only $55. Great quantity and quality. We were sooo full and satisfied. Great decors and friendly staff.
B. H.
Food was excellent and service great. Would def go back. Love the new venue too. You order to share which is a great way to experience all the food.
T. C.
Amazing food. Get the bao, the sambal fried chicken, the lamb chops and the crispy pork belly. All of these are absolutely amazing. The duck curry was good too. The service is great, the food is delicious and it’s quite pricey... but it’s worth it IMO. Defs recommend giving this place a try for some amazing Asian fusion food.
E. M.
Nice and big restaurant. Food is delicious and very well presented. However, I would say that is a bit pricy and they don't have containers to bring the leftovers to home.
They offer some vegetarian options, not vegan but they are happy "veganaising" them, just ask for that!
The restaurant is big and maybe a bit noisy, not easy to follow the conversation from your friends around.
Reservations are recommended (or required).
T. M.
So good to be back. Amazing food as always!
C. C.
Great atmosphere and beautiful large lantern. Love the pork belly which was excellent as usual. The duck curry married so well with the coconut rice, and the kingfish salad was delicious !
M. G.
Great to have Red Spice Road back after far too long and it did not disappoint! Well done to the team for an amazing night, food was sensational as usual 10/10 👌🏻
C. J.
The food was delicious, we ordered the The Showcase Menu. Unfortunately the waiters forgot about 1/4 of our wine menu and we had to remind them twice to bring it. Through the evening the music were too loud at times and we weren’t able to hear what the guys at the other side of table were saying. In general an average experience.
J. L.
Not my type. Steamed bao is stiff. Tofu is just soso. I can cook it with better flavor to be honest. Duck curry is too salty. Pork belly is better. Overall i can only give 70 marks.
A. A.
Super Yummy ..great food ..lots of varieties very good and friendly staff ..Jackson served us very very well tonight and helped us to choose the dishes ..listen to him he knows the best dishes ...food is really good...vegeterian dishes are tasty ...very big place ..... serve lots of people ... we were 8 persons but served us quickly ..I really recommend it .... thanks
L. C.
Amazing food. Great service. We will go back
R. G.
Food x as no service simply great. One of my favourite restaurants.
F.
Update: 2022 - 3/5 - I came back to Red Spice road as one of my top favorites; still tasty but with all the restrictions and limits I had poor experience and didn't feel welcomed this time; set menu only, only the same set menu option for everyone in the party, and at the end not letting takeaway your leftovers. I know they had their reasons for each of this limits, but still.
2015: 5/5 - Amazing fusion food. Great taste and great presentation.
D. N.
AMAZING FOOD AND DRINKS!
This place is not for "cheap eats" but it may be some of the best food I've tried in all my travels.
I suggest making a booking so you can sit under the "big red lantern". It's not essential, but it did add to our experience - especially watching the rain fall on the glass ceiling.
If you're visiting Melbourne, and you like spicy food (most of their dishes are also quite spicy), then book a meal here!
F. M.
Ate here with a work group. Efficient and unobtrusive service, friendly. Quickly served food. Great selection that suited a range of dietary needs. We had a group of 8 and for some popular dishes there wasn’t enough for everyone to have some. Delicious food!
s.
Awesome and delicious Asian Fusion food! The best I’ve had in my life! 😋 Service is amazing and very friendly...
E.
After an exhausting day at work, my client asked to meet them at #redspiceroad . "I absolutely loved the ambiance, my mouth had an organismic adventure" 5/5 No Stopping me from returning soon. Keep up the great standards. CEO Founder Elite Women Real Estate

The food is excellent and the wait staff are amazing, especially Gilda - she was so attentive and was genuinely kind and taking care of those who were dining on their own. A wonderful asset to Red Spice Road. Thank you Gilda
D. I.
The lamb ribs are so tender and literally fall off the bone! Pork belly is juicy and succulent with an amazing accompanying sauce! Service is always excellent here despite how busy it is! We visit on every trip to melbourne - highly recommend!
S. K.
Celebrated our office Xmas function here Awesome food and service great setting and thoroughly enjoyed the venue decor
A.
Food was absolutely wonderful service was top class. Taste was tantalizing... one of the best Thai restaurants we have tried in Australia.
Y. L.
Seems to be a popular Thai place in MELBOURNE but the food was average for me. Probably because the Thai restaurants in Sydney are much better
C. A.
The express lunch experience is dynamic in every way. Excellence in customer service, stunning food tailored to personal dietary requirements and a very open sophisticated interior. I encourage you to bring a group of your favourite people here.
E. S.
Super tasty food, nice decor, modern Thai cuisine, staff is fun and make it the experience more enjoyable. I recommend buying various plates and sharing with a group, the pork belly is a must and the coconut dessert.
S. A.
Simply wonderful! Exquisite flavours, generous portions with expert service in an unpretentious. Certainly my favourite Asian fusion restaurant in Melbourne. Although stiff competition and hard to split Longrain, Chin Chin, etc... Can't go past the five spice pork belly, wok fried greens which are staple classics for Red spice road. Been a few months since last visit so devoured before taking photos. Delicately balanced mixture of sweet and tart flavours with neither overpowering. Also varied range of other dishes, small or large. Guava cheesecake was probably too sweet following the pork belly, but well presented and good sharing size.
P. R. (.
Loved it!!!!! Come here for lunch. Highly recommend it.
Update after a year: the food has been tamed down. It's lost is punch of flavours. Where's the chilli? Sweetness? Lemon grass?!! Still good compared to others, but feel it's been altered for the weaker stomachs.
E. S.
Nicely located in the CBD Red Spice Road had a delicious collection of a range of Asian food (Thai, Vietnamese etc.) that was in solid portions, priced what you'd expect for a nice restraunt and some exceptionally fast and friendly service. I would easily recommend it!
D. R.
Best food. Though the location had changed thr food is still as amazing.
R. K.
Red spice road is reliable food, they've done the same dishes for years, so they are good at them
M. S.
Amazing food. Very happy Red Spice Rd reopened - worth the wait!!
Y. D.
The pork belly is nice, however, all the dishes taste almost the same, sweet, sour and spicy.
B. H.
Haven't been here in ages but every time I do, the food gets better and better. The service is always great here.
B. s.
Brilliant food, service and decor. Only looses a point for all communal tables, however really not that bad. Would happily recommend to anyone who appreciates amazing flavour.
A. K.
(Go for the cauliflower (v), it is really good.)
Very interesting place, huge red lamp hanging in the middle. People sitting in a circle in the middle while others scattered around the place.
Service was good and fast, almost maybe too fast (we had to ask for the water twice) but everything was very polite.
I kind of wished the lights could have been maybe a bit better, I had trouble reading the menu. So maybe fix the menu to be easier to be read in the dark or offer some better light.
And oh yeah, I think the menu outside was different than the menu we were given inside?
Bellies are full now, and food was good, a nice experience all together.
J. C.
Food and service was excellent. I have not been in many years and it's still just as good as I remembered.
M. A. P.
Yumm!! The tasting menu is great! Good way to eat different things in the same meal. It would be better if the dish comes one by one instead of all of them at the same time.
J. C.
The Pork Belly is 5 star. It is. The som tum is not quite spicy enough and could maybe use chilli on the side for those who eat this dish in Thailand sometimes! The lamb ribs were nice. The cheesecake with berries was delicious but could use a little crumble substitute like crushed roasted nuts and a little dob of cream. People miss their old-fashioned crumble! Great job overall. Tasty and worth a visit for sure. Very good service.
J. P.
An amazing restaurant with quality customer service on top of the delicious Asian cuisine.
This place is pricey but you get what you pay for so would highly recommend if you're after a fancy evening out on the town.
Must try the pork belly with chilli caramel if it's your first time coming here =)
K. B.
Red Spice Road never disappoints. This is my go to place for special occasions, the staff are lovely and the food is always delicious. Not always an intimate place, but worth the comprise. The portion sizes are also excellent and the prices are reasonable.
L. K.
Never fails to impress. Love the place, hospitality always awesome, food always spectacular. So glad that Covid did not take you down. Second night reopened and stood up too our expectations. 95 tasting menu was delicious.
J. B.
Probably the most expensive takeaway we have ever had, but these are strange times, so we couldn’t get a seat. Great menu. Loved the soft shell crab. All items were good. Rice had spilled over in the takeaway bag. Probably the drivers fault, but they should really have ensured all the containers were tightly closed.
A. M.
Great ambience and food... Excellent service... Have been back many times..
W. C.
The fatty part of pork belly was good, but the lean part of it seemed too dry for me.
C. T.
Very tasty food with excellent service and awesome atmosphere!
C. B.
Absolutely amazing food, exceptional service, it was my bday and they gave complimentary desert which was a nice touch to the whole experience, one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne I can never get sick of it
P. E. K. M.
It was just the best pork belly of my life. And the people working over there? They are amazing
B. B.
Google indicate it as Thai restaurant but its fusion Asian/Thai food. Great ambience and fantastic service.
J. C.
Service upon greeting was great, really looked after. Only let down was this dessert, looked beautiful but was still frozen! First world problems.
T. V. T.
You see these empty dishes? Coz the food was sooooo good. Absolutely tasty food. Took my dad (Vietnamese) and my boyfriend (Italian) here tonight and they r both impressed. Though the atmosphere was a lil bit more 'western' than expected but who cares, still a great experience.
Short waiting time, good service, high quality food, 5 star.
S. A. R.
Really yummy vegan Kung Pow! They were also able to alter the dish the slightest bit to suit my low FODMAP requirement! Great service and atmosphere!
S. J.
Absolutely amazing food, however very very pricey...1 piece of crispy tofu in starter for 8$ and 4 pieces of corn fritters for 21$!!
K. N.
Nice ambience with fresh tasty Asian food. Wish there were more private tables but a different experience is always good.
H. Y.
The food was good, their interior was so pretty and our waiter Edy was super thoughtful and attentive. All around amazing!!
B. K.
Good service, the food was amazing, drinks were also epic.
E. C.
Never disappointed. Wonderful service and food every time.
P. F.
Definitely had better Asian Fusion food in Melbourne.
J. S.
Exquisite food in an amazing place! I cannot recommend enough! X
K. D.
My wife and I visited as part of celebrating her 50th birthday. We tried the tasting option for 2 which was amazing. So many flavours and spices, it made for a wonderful experience. Can I just recommend the famous pork belly which has to be one of the most amazing dishes I’ve ever tasted. Great service and atmosphere added to a very enjoyable evening. Highly recommended to everybody.
D. v. R.
Food was good but have the archaic policy of no bill splitting.
J. T.
The food, the staff and the atmosphere, everything was nice! I especially love the lamb ribs!
a. a.
Loved it. They were quick to serve and food taste good. If your a spicy lover try the cuttle fish snacks.
The famous chicken fried snack is also a must to have.
Their peach wine is nice and mild to have few bottles.
D. G.
Recently shared a lunch with some dear friends. Staff efficient and friendly. Great building and beautifully decorated. Food was delicious and without fault. Only complaint? Couldn't finish everything! Special mention to our waiter, Edy for whom nothing was too much to ask. Even surprised my sister with a birthday candle on her dessert to celebrate her birthday. Will be back!
r.
Wonderful food and service, we were guests in the private room and enjoyed the menu fully. Lovely whiskey and I really liked the chicken!
H. G.
Great food, lovely surroundings and service. Thoroughly recommend.
J. B.
An amazing place with a fantastic atmosphere and out of this world food! Service is incredible all the staff are super friendly and approachable, always happy to help. This has very quickly become one of my favourite restaurants. Tonight our waiter Joe was amazing, helpful and friendly, happy to help us choose our food. Thank you so much again Joe! It was great to enjoy this Asian fusion food at the restaurant's last night in that location . After an epic 12 years here, they are moving 100m up the road.
N. S.
We booked this restaurant because of the great reviews of the food but didn't realise what a wonderful space it is. It was very busy, the evening we went, and lots of the long tables are shared. It's also quite noisy but not too much to hold a conversation. And the food was terrific.

Fantastic, what a great experience....we'll be back next year

The ambience is amazing and the staff are really polite and efficient. The food is a big disappointment specially at the prices they charge. The vegetable green curry was great but why limit it to vegetarian option?
The red curry was pretty ordinary. So overall the food and price don't really match up with the high rating that the restaurant enjoys.
good food in Red Spice Road
J.
The food was delicious, so full of flavour! The lamb ribs for entree are a must and the pork belly for main if you don’t mind a sweet sauce. Edy has great customer service and the food was well paced, as we got the the banquet.
T. H.
Great food, pricy but worthy. The restaurant aircond did not work well though
S. D.
This place never disappoints. A great range of Asian fusion meals.
You can't go past the lamb ribs or the pork belly. These are must have dishes. So good!
Also plenty of unique cocktails on offer.
Good value for money.
V. T.
Loved the place! Went for a team lunch there and had a great time! The vegetarian food was awesome and apparently according to my non vegetarian friends, pork belly was good. Loved the ambiance and the servers were really friendly and happy-- especially the guy with a man-bun. Don't know his name but an absolutely pleasant guy!
W. F.
The fusion Chinese restaurants.
Should try pork belly
The best pork belly in Melbourne.
M. S.
Love the food here! So many flavours that go so well together. Every time I come here I know that I'm going to get great food and service. Even though we were there during a busy time our food came out reasonably fast. The staff are very knowledgeable and happy to adapt meals for dietary requirements. The pork belly is a must. Can't wait to go back.
A. T.
Food breathtakingly amazing. Felt like an extremely important person from the moment we stepped into the restaurant as the staff were so attentive. I'd been here back in 2013, brought a friend, we loved the dining experience. I would highly recommend and suggest you add to the must do list for everyone visiting Melbourne.
F. W.
This place is great if you have a large group. All of the food we ordered was pretty good. We tried the recommended pork belly bao, another pork belly dish, the lamb chops, scallops, watermelon salad, cauliflower, the duck curry, and the soft shell crab. Of those items, the real standouts were the soft shell crab, both pork belly dishes, and the cauliflower. The cocktails were hit or miss. The wine by the glass options were excellent. All seven of us left happy.
S. H.
Myself and my two friends dined here and were completely blown away by firstly, the flavours of the food but secondly, their customer service and staff attitudes. Joe was very attentive and extremely polite with our tables service. He went above and beyond to make our dining experience here one to remember. This restaurant has won three customers for life based on the cuisine and customer service.
I. O.
Fabulous place for a team lunch or group gathering! The banquet comes with all 5 dishes and each one of them is so different from the other yet they're all so delicious (especially the pork belly, you MUST get the pork belly!). From the fantastic service the moment you walk in to getting the bill and everything in between, this place is great!
G. P.
Red Spice Road is BACK. After Covid arrived and they closed I had to resort to cooking from the RSR cookbooks to get our RSR hit. Now they're back and with John Mcleay back at the helm the food is again awesome. A coupla teething problems but with the industry in tatters it was understandable. Highly recommended as always.
R.
1st time eating here and it did not disappoint. Food was amazing. Try their soft shell crab, pork belly and papaya salad. Shout out to their staff Quentin as well for making our dinner more memorable. We were a group of 4 and decided that this is our birthday celebration as we dont get to see each other often .Quentin surprised us by giving not only the 3 of us birthday desserts but also our other friend! Definitely recommend this place. 😊
E. T.
Friendly staff. A bit dark inside the restaurant but a very very nice ambience. Pork belly dish is delicious and the vegetarian curry was great too. Food took a moderate time to come out but the great thing is that they all came in one go, so we could get started on all the dishes straight away!
R. F.
Today we had food at this beautiful restaurant for the third time. The food was great as usual. However, we did feel offended of the staff behaviour who was looking after our table. He questioned, wow how fast we were eating and hope we did not need anymore food. As he cleared out empty plates he kept on commenting how fast we were eating and was dong very good! He was behaving casually and gestures were a bit uneasy for us. We felt like wow we must have eaten a lot today. I was very surprised over how we felt. Perhaps, restaurant staff member should have been overlooked by the floor manager. I wish they don’t spoil the reputation of the fantastic restaurant.
K. J.
I tried “Red Spice Road On-The-Go” last night. Delivered to Armadale, the food arrived and was amazing. Super friendly deliver person, and food was ready to eat. Chicken Wings and Pork Belly were both crispy and ready to eat. While we can’t eat in at the moment I would highly recommend On-The-Go!
D. M.
The pork belly absolutely sets the standard. Had express lunch which had great variety and they provided a nice chicken rice dish for our kids. You will absolutely be happy going here, but I am saving the 5 stars for the absolute best in town.
Edit: I originally rated this as a 4 but I think any time a restaurant does the absolute best of a certain dish, that should be an immediate 5 stars. Red Spice Road certainly qualifies with its pork belly dish.
O. R.
Great atmosphere sitting around the big curving table. We enjoyed the service, very knowable staff. The meals are a good size but we found each of our four servings to be very heavy (they were primarily deep fried). It was probably our own fault due to selection, but the meals sounded much lighter on the menu. Overall, would go again but we'd try different meals. However the pork belly and lamb ribs (appetizers) were delicious!
M. C.
The $99 tasting menu was out of this world and with a $45 wine pairing added on it wasn't cheap but definitely stands up against more expensive fine dining. Some of the best flavour combinations I've ever tried and fantastic vegetarian options provided along side the regular menu. All the staff had great energy and knowledge of all the dishes and wines. Lachie in particular took fantastic care of us and kept the mood high. Cant recommend this place enough for a special occasion or a treat for a serious foodie.
C. H.
The food was amazing - definitely get the lamb ribs! It's pricey, but the food is so so good. The service was prompt and friendly, and very polite. Cocktails also delicious, and strong. Our only complaint was that they don't do takeaway containers. Had we known that, we would have ordered less food, and we had to go to McDonald's to get something to put out leftovers in. The food was too good and too expensive to leave behind!
S. D.
Incredible! Booked for a group of 6 on a Thursday night so it was packed but that didn’t affect the excellent customer service we received. The staff were so attentive, filling up our glasses and having a joke with us, truly superb.
We went for the Showcase tasting menu and it was just amazing. I’m a vegetarian and they were able to easily cater for me, providing me with my own dish each serving which was fantastic. I feel it’s reasonably priced and we all came away saying how great it had been. Would definitely recommend and come back.
M. M.
Lovely food but very noisy but thats what you get when there's so many people will go again.
J. J.
Excellent for a group meal, long wide bench tables with appropriate seating. The tasting platter was a great way to experience a variety of dishes and styles. Very nice bar for early arrivals.
B. F.
Loved the ambience, loved the food and loved the service.
It was an all around positive experience for our party of four. The pork belly with hot mint slaw is one of their signature dishes, and rightfully so - it's excellent.
The passion fruit sorbet & peanut butter caramel Ferrero Rocher sealed the deal at the end of the night.
S. S.
It was a magnificent 'experience' to be treated to such amazing dishes. We weren't too keen on sitting at the long trestle style seating but we were directed to a quieter booth which was nice and intimate and just perfect! Highly recommend this restaurant!!!
J. G.
If you don’t know, this place serves up some of the tastiest dishes Melbourne has to offer and you can see the hustle as soon as you walk through those doors.
One of Melbourne’s best establishments by far in my opinion.
Let’s talk about staff too, because they are what make a venue rock.
From the greeting at the door, to the tall handsome man pouring delicious drinks and the relentless kitchen line workers smashing out those scrumptious dishes.
All I know is, whenever I take a date there, I end up feeling like Leonardo DiCaprio
A. B.
Really great experience, wonderful atmosphere, very classy servers and they take your coat which is a special gesture. Very quick service. We had a ribs starter, by far the best ribs we've had in Melbourne and quite possibly ever. I had the salmon, really healthy and super tasty. My husband had the pork belly which melts in your mouth. They'll definitely see us a lot in the future!
E. S.
Amazing customer service from Joe! He probably visited a bit too much though at times but incredibly lovely, knowledgable and gave us a lot of his time and energy which was fantastic to see. Amazing food. Pork belly was better last time, cuts were too giant this time. Express lunch is the go, try a bit of everything. Delicious!
L. S.
Good sign when the place is busy and buzzing. Probably repeating what everyone else has said already.. food fantastic, waiters fantastic, our waiter was very helpful and knew how many dishes we would need, Sambal on the side as a wee bit hot.. all the dishes we had had a bit of a kick which was to our taste.. highly recommended
B. g.
Great venue, great customer service. Last night me and my 17 work mate went for dinner. Good food. The server was amazingly good. Only negative was the quantity of the food. All of us walk away with still feeling hungry. Guys let's be realistic, if I spent over $ 1800 for work dinner, we expect to be fully tommy. It's just a feedback. Next time I think of making reservations, I am gonna have to go Macca for burger before dine there.
J. B.
Wow what an amazing place. First up the service is second to none. You will feel very welcome. They have big long tables so you can seat many people. They like it when you book by the looks of it. We got some pork belly and chicken wings, I have added photos of these dishes. It was unlike anything I have had before. It was a taste sensation. Very happy with the experience.
E. M.
Great service with a fantastic range of Asian cuisine. The duck curry is a must and the wait staff are knowledgeable and passionate about their jobs which is refreshing. I cannot wait for the new location which is not far away. A Melbourne CBD gem and a must for all foodies. Love you Melbourne 😍
A. V.
Wonderful ambience, you will be dining in classy Asian splendour, with great art work, a variety of dining spaces and ethnic visuals including a giant red lantern. Great spread of South East Asian cuisine that can be ordered tapas style. We tried the tasting menu which was very filling. Service was excellent. Cocktails served by the jug could improve but otherwise would recommend.
F. S.
Had dinner here Saturday night as a group of 4. Luke was our waiter, he is certainly a credit to the business! He was helpful and honest with the amount of food he thought we would eat.
We ordered a lot so we could all share and try. The standout was the kingfish and pork belly. Will definitely be returning 😀
D. K.
Taste was yum, service was great. Shame the $80pp banquet is so small you feel hungry at the end. Rip off. Plus the cocktail was literally all ice barely any liquid or flavour.
E. K.
Spacious place with great decor. The food was slightly above average compared to other Asian fusion place. The pork belly and lamb ribs are the best out of all the dishes we ordered. Service was great and attentive too.
Food - 6
Service - 8
Vibe - 7
Price - $$$
F. L.
Food was fantastic. Great flavors. However the Asian gentleman that served us needs a bit more training. When we asked about the prawn, chicken rice dish he described it as ‘weird’ - So we didn’t order it ! He also failed to tell us that the entrees come as one piece.
B. M.
Great food. A pity the air conditioner wasn't working, considering it was an extremely hot day in Melbourne and the food was hot and spicy! But the quality of the food was great. The pork belly is a must! But if you're unsure of what to get, and are in for lunch, just grab the express menu and try almost everything.
C. C.
Delicious as always. $55 set lunch menu (9tasters) was more than enough for 2 people and a great array of hot and cold, meat and seafood.
Nice and fast too as we were on a tight schedule.
D. B.
The food was delicious, especially the Korean beef. Our server, Frances was amazing. This was our first meal in Australia and she made us feel so welcome and took the time to answer all our questions.
v. p.
Absolutely amazing food and ambiance. Friendly and efficient staff, especially Isabelle, who made the whole experience memorable. Each dish was unique and full of flavor
Loved it!!
J. T.
Been here a few times now. I feel it has improved over the years. The pork belly and the beef cheek was delicious. We had a few salads from the starters but found them to be a bit too sweet. I think for price and ambience the price is quite good. Came here for a birthday and they were quite accommodating with the cake. Only complaint is when I walked into the restaurant i was told to wait and as I was waiting a male came in after me a minute later and they went straight to him and were ready to seat him but he told them to look after me first cause I had been waiting so I thought that was a bit rude of the staff. Overall I would go back, lovely decor and good alcohol list.
S. B.
Tasty food! We had the betel leaf with snapper for starters (1 per serve), watermelon salad and Singaporean barramundi curry - all very delicious. The curry wasn't a huge serving so felt a bit pricey, but very tasty. The watermelon salad was very refreshing. The staff were very efficient friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was good. Lots of large tables but still felt like you weren't in the space of other diners. Also a good place for single people to eat as they didn't look isolated to a table on there own.
G. M.
We went out as a group of four couples. Our Entrees were served combined as TINY dishes to share. This was certainly not practical when they were being shared by halves of different couples on opposite ends of the table, We specifically ordered separately - NOT a shared banquet & expected our own dishes. The staff did not inform us that this is how we would be served, and we weren't even given extra plates or knives to serve amoungst ourselves! Ridiculous & despite enjoying the food felt Disappointed.
C. C.
Went here for an early dinner. It was calm and quiet inside as we were ones of the first to dine there that day. The food did not disappoint! So many different flavors with every bite. It was absolutely marvelous.
R. D.
Went on a Saturday night, it was a full house but the service was great. The food was amazing & came out quick. This is a place that knows that you need to have enough staff both on the floor & in the kitchen for it to run smoothly & for customers to be happy. Too many restaurants blame being busy for poor service & inconsistent food. This place dose it right. Highly recommend.
g. I.
Went for lunch today. Great service and Great food - which never disappoints. Been here a few times (including the QV one which is now shut) for lunches and dinners. Always outstanding service and food. If you are looking for modern Asian cuisine, this is the place to eat in Melbourne. Highly recommend.
V. A.
My family and I love this place for celebrating special occasions. The food atmosphere and service is fantastic! I highly recommend the lamb ribs and pork belly as well as any ceviche fish dishes as they are excellent. Will definitely be coming return soon.
V. M.
This restaurant has very good atmosphere and staff. The lights and decor match with the ambience of the restaurant and the design is very nice. Overall the food was amazing. The chicken wings and the papaya salad were delicious. This is a good place to go to in Melbourne if you're looking for a nice fusion restaurant.
C. R.
Amazing quality of food at a reasonable price. I really enjoyed my last Sunday at "Red Spice Road" restaurant. The staff members were very pleasant, super friendly and determined to their work. Great and well-cleaned ambience place to enjoy your meal. Highly Recommended!!!
J.
Excellent food. Highly recommend the crispy tofu starter and the lamb ribs. The cocktails were great and quite unique. Our waiter Edy was super attentive and friendly.
T. M.
Out for dinner last night just our little group of 3. The place was packed in the new location and the atmosphere was vibrant. It was that busy we had 2 great servers helping us, Gilda and Maddison, and they tag teamed to make sure we had our drinks and food and desserts. I think they did very well. The pork belly was great as always, and we tried the prawn curry with wonton crisps off the new menu which turned out to be totally delish. Then we shared the yuzu doughnuts for dessert. This is a good little dish to share as there are 5 doughnut balls filled with yuzu curd placed around a scoop of mint/lime sorbet along with dehydrated blood orange slices. It was beautiful and delicious!
S. W.
Buzzing, tasty food and great service. It was busy but the dishes are not cheap, all alcohol very expensive. Fine dining prices for Asian dishes with small servings - rice ordered for 5 was about right for 2 people. Some fussier eaters will have difficulty in selecting a more basic dish.
J. L.
I've been a few times, always in a private dining room. Back when I still ate fish, the banquet was incredible - exquisite food. Went the other night, since becoming a vegan, and the vegan banquet was even better! Quite astounded, really, at just how beautiful, satisfying and diverse the various vegan dishes were - and the standard fare my colleagues wete served still looked excellent. This place is big but the decor and ambience make it feel very special. Tap options at the bar beforehand included a very balanced Extra Special Bitter - the closest thing to 'real ale' I've ever been served outside the UK - and the selection of Scotch after dinner was top notch. No hesitation on the five star rating.
A. L.
Best place to have office team lunches ... Why? Well they cater to all dietary restrictions and fit all people within their express banquet. Easy peasy.... You can focus on people and not fuss with what to order. Food is plenty!! Highly recommended
B.
Absolutley amazing food. I went with a couple of friends and shared multiple meals and drinks.
For $90 each we were blown away with the quality and quantity of each dish.
They even went the extra mile to redo a dish that had been taken off the menu for us.
The staff were a pleasure the whole time and were attentive but not annoying.
I highly recommend Red Spice Road.
N. A.
Amazing restaurant, you absolutely must try the pork belly if you haven't before. The meals aren't cheap but the quality and sizeof the portions definitely make up for it.
The drinks menu was quite extensive and is reasonably priced.
Would definitely recommend.
N. N.
It is usually hard for us to do a set menu because I am a vegetarian and my husband eats only white meat. We wanted to do the $30pp lunch menu so enquired ahead and they were more than happy to accommodate our request. On arrival we confirmed again with the waiter and he kindly offered to do 3 individual servings of dishes for us instead of 3 large shared plates. Serving size was generous too we both couldn't finish everything. All the dishes were very delicious and service was excellent. We enjoyed our lunch throughly and cannot wait to return with friends.
R.
Love this place. The food is predominantly Thai and modern Asian. All of the dishes are fantastic, but the pork belly is a must. By far one of the best pork belly dishes in Melbourne. Great for small or large groups. However, only let down is that for groups 12+, they will try to make you pay for a set menu ($65 approx.).
V. A.
Red Spice and everything nice. Daring Asian plates, served up on a bustling stage. The intensity of flavours was surprising. I explored unusual flavours never before experienced. This place has courageous chefs ready ro punch you straight in the taste buds. If you are needing assurance to come here, this is the review to read. Oh and dont forget to order the pork belly, wow.
S. D.
Absolutely delicious! Pork belly was amazing. All dishes were full of flavour & just enough heat. Service was fantastic. Prices reasonable Highly recommend!!
M. P.
Really good shared dishes, the vegetarian dishes are amazing but sadly no or few vegan options.
The service was attentive and friendly!
The only shortcoming is that seating is a tad crowded. When I went it was often a bit hard to hear what people were saying from across the table.
M. N.
Fancy Asian fusion food, with presentation a key to success of these meals. Smaller portions than other Asian fusion joints, but pretty tasty and fragrant.
Dim lighting, expensive cocktails and share plates lead me to believe this is popular as a date night venue, but there are many big tables for larger groups.
My personal opinion is that this place is overrated and overpriced, but that may be more in line with my budget than anything else. Quality of food is high, as is service... So I may be unfair but keep this in mind if your looking for lower end of the budget.
M. M.
As usual the food and service were awesome. Red Spice Road have always got the best pork belly. That has never changed in all the times me and my friends have been going to the McKillop Street site. Now that they're moving closer to my office even better. 😊😊
H. A.
Love the new location and brand new facilities on Queens at which was the old site of Fo Guang Yuan vegetarian restaurant/art gallery/Buddhist temple. Food was good although it was much better! Banquets are still a better value option with large groups!
T.
This is one of my favorites city restraunts. The food is always varied, quality and delicious. Vegans and vegetarians are catered for and there are plenty of meat and seafood dishes to choose from.
The lychee passion mocktail is one of my favorites drinks ever, and the service and atmosphere is always great.
The only suggestion for improvement would be, it would be great if there were more single tables as opposed to so many communal tables.
E. C.
We had 10 people sit for the $79pp banquet. Every dish was unique and there was not a dull note! We all left groaning, there was so much food. Excellent service but it was really the generosity and deliciousness of the food that warrants 5 stars.
A. B.
Lovely food and nice atmosphere. Prices were reasonable and service was fast. Only downside was that we had 4 different waiters. Not a huge drawback.
Reasonable prices for the delicious food
S. E.
The set 5 course meal is probably one of the best thai I've ever had! We thoroughly enjoyed all kinds of tasters and would recommend to try if you don't feel like choosing something on the menu. This place will fill up your stomach
R. S.
The place looks beautiful. Even though there were quite a few guests when we went for lunch, it did not feel crowded. We had some kids yelling and running around but the other guests may even have noticed. The decor is great. Coming to the main feature, the food, its worth the experience. We planned on getting ala carte and ended up with banquet as we wanted to taste everything red spice road had to offer. And we were not disappointed at all. A few vegetarians in the group loved their food as much the non vegos did.
J. G.
Food and service on point. One less star due to cramped seating position just infront of bar with constant foot traffic which made the dining experience not so enjoyable. While booking a table I recommend you ask for seating away from Bar and Kitchen area.
R. M.
Always excellent food, quality and fresh. The service is friendly and they are amazing at catering for all dietary requirements, including coeliac. without batting an eye, very impressive and appreciated. I never hesitate to take visitors to Melbourne here.
Just a heads up if there are different dietary requirements in your group (i.e one vegetarian, others not), you will get a two versions of the chosen dish! So we might order the 3 plate banquet, but end up with 5 plates on the table! Very filling :)
A. B.
Was pleased when provided with a voucher from the footy club to attend Red spice Red. The reviews by others at the club is that l was expecting a AAA class delicious filling meal. Well how true, the food was filling tasty and fresh. A couple of wines with it made the night of one to remember the food and service that was of very high caliber. Thank you to all at Aniconi. We will be back.
C.
Awesome place to take a date - great setting, good service, good pricing and portion sizes. Love my experiences here every time I go.
Highly recommend the Pork Belly as its my personal favourite :)
Rate this at 4 stars due to their recent seating arrangement which accommodates more people but makes the experience less personal - a trade off that most people are pretty happy with.
l.
This restaurant is amazing! Not only just the food, but the staff and atmosphere. This is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at and always recommend it to others when asked. 5/5 10/10 keep up the good work guys!
D. W.
Tasty food, but for the price I'd really expected better service. Be aware if you go on Friday or Saturday you can't order the set menu / just feed me, as it takes too long to serve properly and they have seatings, so you're pressured out. Either have the option or don't offer it, but don't ask for 80-100 per head for a set menu you can't deliver in the timed seating.
H.
My and my girlfriends were celebrating birthday on last Saturday night. We had a amazing time as the service is always on time. The wine tand the food were absolutely beautiful. The waitress has a great personality and she did a great job.(sorry I don’t remember your name but the booking name was under Naomi.) When she brought out the cake, she went behind my friend then light the candles.
It was a crowded, busy night but we had a great time. Thank you so much.
S. D. A.
We celebrated a milestone birthday here yesterday with 46 people of various ages. The service, food and room were all fabulous. The guests left the party feeling very happy with both the food, drink and service (thanks Joe and Amanda!). Very attentive staff - everything ran very smoothly. Birthday girl (90 yo) was extremely happy. Thank you Red Spice Road and in particular Joe and Amanda.
a. M.
Good decor, service & atmosphere. The food prices were on the high side which was to be expected. The chicken thai curry was tender but rather bland, lacking the richer flavours that you can get from street vendor food and went cold too quickly. The papaya salad had very few prawns, and tasted only of lemon. The highlight was the lamb ribs and beef brisket. Worth visiting once.
k. p.
Very nice food specially corn thing.. Well looked after me as vegetarian and my clients...
T. K.
Excellent service. Had the premium banquet. Very good variation of meals. Thought I was up to the challenge, but at the end I was too full. If anything was missing or unavailable we were instantly informed and had the choice to alter the menu accordingly. Highly recommended.
L. S.
My husband and I went to Red Spice Road for my birthday dinner and It was so amazing!
We had the famous Pork Belly which I will be dreaming about it for a long time. When you go make sure you try the Lamb ribs, the meat falls off the bone. I don't really like very spicy food and the restaurant was more than happy to accommodate. We washed our meal down with some wonderful drink suggestions by our awesome waiter Mat. If you need a place to eat in Melbourne I suggest Red Spice Road - it's a must!
E. A.
Loved it. Felt extremely welcomed by the staff and the food was delicious.
S. B.
One word. Unbelievable. I had the most exquisite time at Red Spice Road this weekend. The banquet was very diverse in flavour and texture and I left so full I couldn’t even manage desert! Can’t recommend it highly enough. A special mention must go to the Bartender Oliver - his contagious enthusiasm about drinks and charasmia will guarantee my return to this wonderful establishment. Thanks for a great time Red, I’ll be seeing you soon!
R. S.
Absolutely Declicious!
This is Asian fusion food - so don't expect it to be plated like you;d normally expect at an Asian restaurant.
The service was outstanding - the waiter even recommended we remove one of our mains as we had ordered too much food. This saved us $39 on the bill. He also provided excellent recommendations on drinks as well.
The twice cooked lamb rib entree is huge and the meat just falls off the bone. Has a lovely crust on it as well.
The pork belly main is just devine and the sauce it comes with is amazing!
Price wise this place is quite expensive, but unlike a normal restaurant you could share 4-5 dishes between 5 or 6 people.
E. H.
One of our favorite restaurants in Melbourne, and believe me, we've been to tons. Unique meals and everything on the menu sounds so good. Enough to get us to come back again and again to try out more.
B. F.
This place never fails to impress me. The food, as always, was innovative and delicious. My recommendations, the Green Papaya salad, the roasted cauliflower and if you're game the Crying Tiger Beef...not for the faint hearted.
W.
Red Spice Road is a large restaurant consisting of mainly sharing tables. The menu is divided into small, medium and large dishes. On this visit we choose two medium dishes, sambal chicken wings and chicken and prawn with crispy rice and three large dishes, soft shell crab, Korean beef rib and the stir fried snapper dish. The medium dishes are around $22 and the large dishes we selected were $36-38. Each of the dishes were of a good portion size so don't over order otherwise you won't have room for dessert. We liked all the dishes however my favourite dishes were the crab and the beef rib. The beef was very tender and although the dish was described as spicy, it wasn't.
There is a choice of four desserts and they are $15-17 each. We choose the Yuzu doughnuts and the mango and coconut Panna Cotta. My favourite of the two was the Panna Cotta.
The staff were friendly and efficient and the dishes were all served promptly.

Two words: Pork Belly.
Delicious Asian fusion food and very reasonable prices. Have been here plenty of times for business lunches and have thoroughly enjoyed the food each and every time.
Highly recommended for small groups. The seating arrangement can make it a bit awkward to speak within a large group.
A. W.
Excellent tasting menu, very modern exciting cuisine. Cocktails weren't anything special though. The restaurant is set out on several large tables so you'll likely be sharing your space with other guests, but it's very nice atmosphere.
M. E.
I have to apologise for not leaving this review sooner. Red Spice Road, you are truly our families favourite restaurant. I'm sure everyone is aware of your spectacular events, kid-friendly face painting activities, incredible pork belly and delectable cocktails. However, what many people may not be aware of is your careful consideration, service and care in regards to food intolerances. Our mum is recently allergic to a whole bunch of yummy ingredients and we have a bit of trouble finding restaurants that can accommodate. Red Spice Road ensures she feels comfortable, takes special care taking the time to go through ingredient lists and will even cater to a banquet of ten with special 'mum friendly' dishes just for her.
Thank you so much for that you do, we are so grateful!! YOU DESERVE TEN STARS!!
NB: very LARGE dishes!! We can never eat dinner when we've had a lunch at RSR :)
P. J.
Great food. Spicy and aromatic. Complex flavor so and a wide variety of textures. Service was very attentive but felt a bit like they were rushing you out.
Decor was cool Asian with plenty of options for small or big groups
S. G.
I came here for lunch randomly, and got the lunch tasting menu...... best decision I’ve made!
My new favourite Asian restaurant in Melbourne.
I would like to show photos but I ate fast and forgot :-)
A. C.
Giacomo was an exceptional host. We always enjoy our lunches at Red Spice Road but today’s service was the best yet. We will most definitely be back and hope to deal with Giacomo again.
E. J.
Absolutely love Red Spice Road. The new venue is well planned, convenient location, great ambience, brilliant customer service and amazingly delicious food. Food allergies are well catered for. Will definitely be back soon as this is a favorite restaurant for me!
S. A.
I was a bit worried after a colleague said the original location wasn't as good as QV... And sure enough, the pork belly was really dry just like it was for her. Really great dinner, yummy flavours, but get your signature dish right!!
M. M.
Best Pork Belly in Melbourne. Very recommended!
H. S.
They have nice food and atmosphere. We liked every order we had, sweet-chili ribs, curry chicken salad, and barramundi in banana leaf. In addition, the service is outstanding. I wish they have boxes for take away reminder.

Food great, noisy to the point of no conversation. So, so loud that you seriously can't have a conversation. Then you get booted after 90 minutes and a thousand bucks of lunch bill for a large party. I get the idea of two sittings means more cash for the place but 90 minutes for lunch? Think twice!

I was excited to find out RSR reopened after renovation today (I did phone at around 7pm just to double check they had reopened, but it was only voice message at the other end). Anyhow we still went ahead, as we were so keen!
Greeted by the staff at the door and we were informed aboout 10% surcharge on a Sunday. Personally I am not used to the idea, but I wasn't going to leave because of that. Apparently it is a ''2.5 million dollar fit-out'' reno, so fair enough.
(Can't help to comment on their reno, I mean it is pretty nice but I couldn't justify the * 2.5 million dollars * business and I cannot visually see the *2.5 million dollars * either. I am guessing maybe it was an old building, and a lot of adjustments had to be made to turn it into a dining place? )
Ordered pork belly and lamb ribs, it was good but certainly not amazing. Service was good but not exceptional. The vibe I am getting is RSR is better than an average restaurant but not quite up to the stardards of a fining dining place. So hmmm, anyways just some thoughts to share.
Only gave three stars - maybe I have been a bit harsh here? as I walked in with high hopes and only found out their price increased for similar quality of food. It cost about 120 bucks, for two people had two large one medium dishes and two mocktails.
T. Y.
Good service, nice take on asian food. Wished the restaurants' lighting were brighter so that we can enjoy the food plating visually. Not a fan of communal dining, sorry. Hence, the above rating for overall experience.
K. P.
The place is nice for a hang out and drinks with friends for sure. I was here for a birthday and there are shared menus that charge per person. Food quality was good, modern style Chinese food with some fusion.
w. t.
Foods amazing and the restaurant itself is gorgeous. Staff very helpful. When I went with a large group of workmates (20-30 people) our waitress was fantastic with rembering what everyone was drinking and bringing refills without us needing to tell her what we'd been having. Very impressed.
M. C.
I am newly vegan and was taking some friends out to dinner. I haven't quite nailed the social side of veganism yet, but I wanted to try Red Spice Road and figured at the least I could have my own plate of whatever could be made vegan and everyone else could do the sharing.
The staff we're SO NICE when one of my table-mates told them I was vegan, she came around and explained exactly what could be made for me and how, and they were happy to do entree's as half and half where they could. We ended up with half our dishes being vegan friendly, and they were delicious. The Kung Pow Cauliflower was a hands down table-wide favourite.
S. L.
We had the $99 tasting menu with paired wines. It was truly delightful. Highlights included the king fish salad and the duck 'gnocchi'.
Our waiter for the evening, Lachie, was incredible. He was knowledgable, engaged and guenuinely exuded passion for the food and dining experience. Somebody give that man a raise!!!
B. W.
Must order:
1. Crispy pork belly caramelized
2. Soft shell crab (deep fried) snake beans
3. Tumeric chicken skewers
I love the taste. Love the red lanterns. Love the red. The best of Asia fusion in the heart of Melbourne. Moved to 141 queen's street . First bite you will missed youe time in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. Yummy. Happy New Year

After an extensive search for a restaurant in Melbourne CBD (for a special occasion) that could accommodate gluten free and vegan patrons we settled on red spice road and everyone was happy with the decision.
Delicious food, great service and an amazing atmosphere. How a venue this size is capable of creating, what feels like, an intimate environment, is astounding. There must have been hundreds of patrons and we never felt like just another number.
Small, medium and large plates are available and great to share but save room for dessert because this was the highlight of our evening.
Definitely recommend you check this place out. We will now be looking to try their sister restaurant Red Spice Q.V.

Great food, service and beverages.
r.
Fantastic food and great service too. they paced our meal too so we didnt feel as though we were being rushed or that once the meal was finished....that we had to give up our table! The sommelier gave a GREAT suggestion of an organic, unfiltered red wine - the Studebaker. YUM!
R. W.
Had to cross this one off the list after hearing so many rave reviews. Choice of mocktails was delicious and the menu had so many great choices that the staff had to warn us we were ordering too much! Love the decor as well.
T. F. A.
A few weeks ago I received an email from the Apples+Pears Group to say that as a subscriber to updates & as May is my birthday month I get to dine for free (conditions apply)! I could choose either Burma Lane or Red Spice Road - we chose the latter as we hadn’t been for ages. I’m always a bit worried with these sorts of offers as you are at risk of being seated at the worst table etc (nightmares of past deals). Not here!
From the moment we walked in we were made welcome, seated at a great table & a fab experience ensued. We started with very tasty cocktails - passion fruit martini for me & finger lime for himself. The tasting menu (one of the conditions of the offer) was both delicious and generous, with RSR’s signature betel leaf starter & caramel pork belly included. Himself can’t have scallops so they were kind enough to swap it out for a delicious lamb rib.
When working out which wine would best suit the dessert our server, Edy, conferred with the bar staff and brought us a taste of something they thought might go better than the wine we had chosen. It was perfect with the coconut tapioca pudding with lychee sorbet. Dee-lish!
A special thanks to Edy & the rest of the RSR team for a lovely evening.
G. S.
Food here is always solid esp the pork belly. Manager was lovely but they need to clean the place a bit. Both q.v. and mckillop street have same good quality of crispy pork!
Price is relatively expensive so be prepared to spend at least $50 pp just to be full on food.
O. P.
The pork belly is fantastic. The lamb too. Had a great time. Make sure you eat the soft shell crab before anything else as it's a subtle flavour and the other dishes will overwhelm it.
S. B.
Excellent food and service although an unusually long wait between mains and one dessert for a group. Recommend the cauliflower mini plate, lamb chops and the chicken wings.
D. S.
So good! Place was packed but service was awesome. And the food...👍😍
J. H.
Queried reports of mice prior to booking. My query was addressed honestly advising they have applied numerous resources to remedy rodent infiltration to the satisfaction of relevant health inspections and confirmed no recent sightings had been made.
So, took a deep breath and booked for three, myself, wife and daughter. So glad I did. Food fantastic, service great, left with full bellies and not a mouse to be seen. Do yourself a favour and check out Red Spice Road.
J. A. R. E.
This is a place that will you wont be leaving hungry. All the main dishes are extremely large however bigger isn't necessarily better - the Pork Belly came out at a massive 800gms (4 large bricks) but lacked any real flavour. Same went for the Crispy Duck too but the entree's were great - so food was a hit and miss. Service and atmosphere was great although keep in mind you're likely to be on the communal table facing other people if thats not your thing. 6.2/10
S. C.
Had no idea you could get functions here - what an utterly amazing experience! The resturant decor was unique, the food scrumptious. Will have to come back to try their regular menu, but can vouch for the banquet!
N. D.
A really great place, especially for big groups. They encourage you to share your meal with the table, and while I was a little hesitant at first - I really enjoyed the experience. Although the pork belly was so good, perhaps it would have been better NOT to share...
B. R.
Spicy yes, red yes, flavoursome yes. The new location for red spice road has atmosphere plus. Share plates are generous, wine list also reasonable.
P. J.
Red spice road was a really good place to have group dinner. Food was amazing and service was fast, on the ball and were really lovely people. The only issue was that the music was abit loud to be able to talk to my family. Other than that Red spice road is great place.
S. S.
With huge bench like tables and high seating it kind of immediately makes you feel like your there to be social with friends. You'll see what I mean when you go. The emphasis is on sharing and we had six people, six dishes and rice and all are shared and the taste, was nothing short of amazing.
Prices are very reasonable especially for the quality you get.
I'll be back.
L. C.
Came here for a work Christmas lunch. Group of 11 people. Our server Maddison was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Everyone was happy with the food. Would come here again
P. W.
Great food and the service was excellent. The entree came quickly but waited 45 minutes for main course. It was lunchtime and they had a couple of large bookings but it meant we were getting sloshed on wine without food !!!!
T. D.
First time i have been there and i went with someone who has been a few times but ages ago. They have changed the menu significantly and although the food was of high quality, there just isnt much variety. Apparently their signature dish of pork belly is nice although i dont eat it.
J. A.
Fantastic restaurant, still going strong after many years. The pork belly remains a favourite, but you can't really go wrong with most menu items. Highly recommended.
B. H.
Probably my favourite restaurant in the city. Everytime Ive had dinner here has been a memorable experience. The food is amazing the service is excellent If anyone wants to buy me dinner feel free to seek me out ;)
R. Y.
The pork belly is the best.
The entrée was too flavoured for our liking; too sweet and salty.
The chicken was nicely spicy at thee beginning, but became very spicy at the end. But the flavour was so nice I kept drinking the soup.
The barramundi was crispy and had a really nice sauce.
J. R.
Tasty food and good service: We had the chefs lunch menu and all but one were very enjoyable! Good vibe inside and lots of space to accommodate a huge group.
M. B.
Amazing food, fast service and fair prices. Really nice sharing experience if you're in a group. The decorations are also great!
H. R.
The food here is delicious. However I came just as the restaurant opened and could not get the attention of the staff as they held a meeting. They also gave us the wrong drink, but took it away and replaced it. Maybe next time it would be better.
m. m.
If you never were in this kind of restaurant I can totally understand your enthusiasm. The service match the European standard with no asian touch, if that is what you are after, you will, then, love it. The place is very nice, simple and trying to be chic. We were sitted in the veranda, far from the good table inside, but we had no reservation and wasn't over dress wich is maybe an acceptable explanation for this place politic. Unfortunately, I was cold and we had, I guess, a new waitress who quickly get upset because we wanted to move to another table and showed us she was upset all the time, but did tried to hide it . She has no knowledge of the menu, and was more focus in getting ready for a rush who never came in her section than her existing client . She didn't do any big mistake, it was just then affecting our comfort. The food was fine, not unforgettable but ok. The price was matching competitors in that range (170 for 2 people for the special menu and drinks) . I could go back in a late future if a friend insist, but, for few next times, will try another place, not on my top choices, I have been in better place and with warmer service who deserved tips and more generous tips, than in this one . Went exited, left a bit deceived, but, that the game😉
I. F.
Great staff and delicious food! I would give it 5 star if it wasn’t because we saw a rat crossing in one of their hallways. I know this is a problem in many places around Melbourne (is not the first time I see it in a restaurant) and staff said they have been doing everything they can to catch it but it was very unfortunate that we actually saw it and a bit shocking
P. A.
The pork Belly with chilli Caramel and apple slaw. This is the the dish that got so many people coming again and again to Red Spice Road. It is so yummy, but is actually just one of soooo many yummy dishes here. Resturant is beautifully decorated but be prepared for shared seating on large tables in most of the Resturant. I believe they are about to move premises, staying local to the Queen St area. More news to come on that. Go, enjoy and don’t forget the pork belly!!
l.
The food was amazing and the staff is super friendly. Our server Jane took really good care of us and it was the perfect dinner experience :).
A. H.
Had lunch with a friend, we shared 4 small plates, exquisite flavours, fast service. The pork belly was my favourite dish. Crisp and meltingly tender.
T. L.
As an Asian, I do not have much expectation for fusion Asian restaurants in town. But I was surprised that foods are actually very GOOD. The pork belly and penang fried chicken are just perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant.
S. W.
Excellent food with great flavours! However it is expensive, most people didn’t drink because the prices were exorbitant! Clearly a well liked place as it was packed, the service was also excellent.
A. W.
Modern Asian fusion, lots of flavours and spices. The lunch banquet is great for groups, just choose a few mains to share and an entre. They have a vegan menu, and plenty of gluten free options too, so it's suitable for everyone.
F. B.
Fantastic food and service. Only problem we had was with the volume of the music. More suited to a cocktail bar. Way too loud for conversation and general talk required shouting. Asked if it could be turned down but no response. Pity.
J. L.
Had my mate's birthday dinner here on 12th of Jan. We went with one of the banquet menus (79 pp). The food was great, i was surprised at the fragrant, colorful dishes and most importantly, satisfied by the generous portion (I am a 6 '2 " tall weighing arnd 75kg). As this place does not serve a full sized birthday cakes, i brought along a cake purchased from the local bakery in the cbd, only to find out that the cake i bought was covered in mould. To our disappointment, we had to dispose the cake. However, the restaurant was kind to offer one of their deserts with candles to cheer up the birthday boy :) definitely one of the best dining experiences i've had.
A. G.
Delicious Asian fusion food but service could be much better, especially given the price.
Place was rather loud and table service was a mixed bag: very friendly and entertaining server but they forgot to bring plates, took ages to get just a glass of coke or even some soy sauce.
Would try again, but only if someone else was paying.
M. B.
Lovely service and great food
M. S.
A large venue that still manages to keep a vibe going by cunningly seating people together in the central part of the restaurant. A good selection of food and attentive service. In a group, it's worth trying the set sharing plates.
l.
Amazing experience. So busy but managed to get table for 4! Flavors exceptional. Portions excellent. Staff amazing. A little noisy.
J.
Always amazing!!! Great atmosphere and food always delivers. Can get a little noisy so if your after someone intimate and quiet prob not the place for you but amazing for large groups especially the banquet meals, great value
A. S.
We had a wonderful experience eating at Red Spice Road in Melbourne last night. It started with Bau our waiter who is a winner at his job and made us feel welcome and at home.
He described the food so well and i loved my ( hug in a bowl) he recommend, the Northen Thai Chicken Curry, and the Chicken wings. Highly recommend this restrauant. And thanks Bau for making our experience so memorable. The best waiter we have had in a long time!!!!!
L. P.
Pretty good food. 2 meals were great (prawn curry is a must). The waitress named Maddison (with blue hair) was fantastic 😊
M. A.
This has become a bit of a standard for Melbourne with great modern take on Asian flavours.
Best options are for the mini sets they offer.
Just make sure one of the choices is the pork belly, just too hard to beat.
Also like the betel leaf.
Walk-in is usually an option other than Friday night or Saturday night where a booking is advised.
D. M.
I had corporate dinner at this place with our US bosses a few times. The service and food were always making us satisfied. I love their pork belly!
A. b.
Pork belly just as good as I remembered, maybe even better. Maddison the waitress was refreshingly friendly with hints or European refinement. Bravo red spice!
W. W.
Service: Good. Decor/Ambience: Super nice. The Food: Oh my. I popped in to lunch (down from Sydney) and had the Stir fried barramundi, black pepper, ginger, green onion. Sounds simple, but it exuded a flavour rainbow. I'm so sick of eating Thai in Sydney as so much of it taste the same sweet and either too bland or too strong. Although this dish is not 'Thai' per se, it had South East Asian ingredients in proportions reminiscent of Thai. However, it was delicately prepared with exquisitely cooked vegetables (snappy) and fresh fish. Superb. Well done. People rave about this place. With good cause.
C. R.
Had the banquet, food was excellent, our party of 20 had a great time and everyone left full. Lovely venue. What let this place down was the sneaky "8% Surcharge" that was added to our bill. When we asked what this charge related to, we were advised that this was a "gratuitous tip". I asked that this be removed. WE as the CUSTOMER should decide if the experience was worthy of such a tip. Sneaking an 8% tip into a $1,300 dollar bill seems greedy to me, and my entire party agreed. No "gratuitous tip" was paid and a bad taste was (figuratively speaking) left in my mouth after what was an excellent night out.
B. L.
We had a very nice meal here as after work team dinner. Great ambience. Noisy which some like but not for hearing challenged people. Good food reasonably priced.
J. B.
Red Spice Road is one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. Its a little pricey but the food is totally worth it. Definitely the best Asian fusion in town.
A. M.
The lamb ribs and pork belly are out of this world - a must try. The fish curry was a little bit meh and the calamari wasn't anything special either. It can get a tad noisy in there but it's still a great place for a group bite.
J.
Nicely decorated asian-fusion venue. Couples are seated next to one another on a semicircular table. Service is fast and friendly. Food is amazing. Dishes are meant to be shared. Can highly reccomend the steamed bao, beef cheeks and peanut parfait (with additional ice cream). Booking ahead is possible.
c.
Nice food, a little bit noisy.
a. d.
I think the crispy pork belly was a really good dish. Rest was pretty average. They have set menu option. Was a bit pricey.
F. K.
The pork belly is to die for. The soft shell crab buns were another level as well. Could not fault the food at all. No long wait times, staff were great. Will happily return in future.
T. B.
Amazing food from a vast selection. We were sharing many dishes and every single one was delicious in its own right. Highly recommend this restaurant
S. F.
2018- I go every year for last 3 years favourite resturant hands down.
2019- unreal. Food come out extremely quick maybe bit to quick? And I didnt like desert but still such a good restuarant to dine at.
S. P.
Went there for date night with my wife. First time going there. Food and service was great. The waitress was very helpful and check on us to make sure we were enjoying ourself. Will definetly be going back again.
F. H.
Food great as always at Red Spice Rd although layout and high ceiling of the new digs creates a noisier space. Conversation across the table was challenging!
J. W.
Amazing food and the service was spectacular. Do your taste buds a favour and pay Red Spice Road a visit. You won't regret it. 😁
B. W.
I am SO glad i came here for dinner the other night !!!! Jane was such a sweetheart and SO funny ! Such a contagious smile ! im still smiling !
I almost forgot we came in for curry it was dinner and a show !
10/10 wILL BE BACk WE LOVE JANE !!!
G. C.
Relaxed and sociable. Food comes out all the time and the chicken wings are awesome. Even friends that don't like pork belly loved it here.
S. S.
Food quality is awsome.
J. T.
More on the food not the interior please. Lots of hypes about the place and I agree, great interior concept, fantastic ambiance ... very pleasant service, but note to management, we go to eat the food not the table & chair .... some are just too salty, some bland and some I just can't figure it out. Music is so loud that we can't even hear each other ...
R. N.
A nice restaurant for the fussy diner. The interior decorum is delightful with service and food to match. It's full of share tables which might be a detractor for those looking for a more intimate dining experience.
T. K.
Hey good south east Asian cuisine in a modern, beautiful restaurant. It's a little on the pricey side but worth it for the right occasion. Wonderfully attentive staff.
T. L.
Great express menu. Lots of variation in the lunch dishes, speedy service and quality meals. Must try the pork belly, it's a real hit.
S. C.
Great food as always!! My brother in law along with his wife visited us from UK and they loved it too.... Luke was superb on the night.
D. V.
My favorite restaurant! The pork belly and lamb ribs are outstanding. Ceviche kingfish on crispy wonton was great too but needs more of that crispy wonton.
T. A.
When we have friends visiting, this is always my top pick!
Pork Belly is the best in Melbourne, honestly the other dishes are good but not as excellent as the pork belly
I really enjoyed the Lamb entree too, delish!
J. H.
The food here was worth the money, no doubt. The pork belly, lamb ribs and massamann curry were all truly delicious. It's easy to reccommend this place.
M. T.
Anniversary dinner here was excellent. The food and service was amazing. Wasn't expecting the communal tables but was fine.
M. M.
Food is unbelievably good!
Busy place with a great atmosphere.
Anytime I've been there, I lose all track of time and never want to leave.
A. K.
Excellent food, good customer care, happy experience.
D. M.
Unique dishes, excellent quality, great ambiance and service. Be prepared to share from some larger servings if in a group and ordering buffet.
C.
Service is great! Everyone's helpful and friendly. The food is always amazing, highly recommend if you're looking for an Asian fusion restaurant!
P. G.
Went to RSR QV a week ago with a colleague who was raving about this one. My partner and I went to the original. Had the pork belly (again) really good. The lamb ribs were great too but too much to have together. Disappointed that I had no room for desert - far too full.
We'll be back.
B. B. B.
Food was great and service was ok. The price is acceptable but the price of alcohol was a little steep.
The restaurant is very elegantly decorated and looks high-end. Location is nice and away from noisy main streets.
J. C.
Oliver made our night with his exceptional cocktail making skills & personality! We had a lovely night with great food & vibrant atmosphere l. Jac
J. T.
Good place. Nice atmosphere and cozy vibe. Can get a bit busy and if you end up sitting opposite each other at the table can be a bit far away to chat. Don't forget they have another branch in QV which is great too.
F. J.
Nice food. Did the 5 courses & food was just ok. They pump out the food & it wasn't hot at all. You can do so much better in Melbourne.
A. S.
One of my favorite eateries in the CBD. Amazing selection of food.
A. C.
Booked a private dining for 25 guests 2weeks ago. We had the banquet and drinks package. We all loved it - the food was superb and the service attentive. A fantastic night
A. C.
Great restaurant if a little noisy. Tried the lunch tasting menu, courtesy of someone else was playing. Great wine menu as well.
J. S.
Get the pork belly, by far one of the best crispest pork belly's you will try. Only issue is they serve an odd number of pieces for 2 people. So it always comes down to a fight over it.
S. W.
Delicious meal. Made even better by the fact that they were able to adapt dishes to accommodate a low FODMAP diet. So helpful. Great service.
L. L.
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Pork Belly and prawn salad were great dishes. A great place to dine with large groups.
M. r.
At home in the heart of Melbourne CBD, Red Spice Road is the perfect spot for a mid-week dinner with your love. Get excited to experience award-winning South East Asian food including Pork belly with hot mint, chilli caramel & black vinegar and Malaysian duck curry. Go and experience this buzzing restaurant for yourself. Best dish: Pork belly with hot mint, chilli caramel & black vinegar.
M.
The food came out really quickly and was yummy! Good fusion food. Highly recommended! I loved the Barramundi curry and clay pot tofu!
S. H.
Food was great. Service also however it was invcredibly rushed.... we had our food before even getting our drinks... it really felt like they wanted us out the door so they could seat the next people.
S. G.
Great one for thai food lovers. Good for business lunches and with friendly staff. It has bar facilities too. Cool ambience, must try.
G. T.
So good! They could cater to my food intolerances and the food had so much flavour. Staff were really good and accommodating too.
F. Y.
Not what it used to be. Tried the new location. Pork belly was a bit too dry, other dishes were average. What really got me annoyed was that they are still using PLASTIC straws. Seriously...
G. R.
Eddie looked after us . He is really good to suggest the food and how much should we order. Food was beautiful . Enjoyed every morsel of it.
A. S.
Fab food as always. Disappointed that they automatically put a credit card service charge on the bill, no mention of it irrespective of whether you're paying with card or cash. They took the charge off when we raised it. But it's just poor form.
S. P.
If you need a place to eat in Melbourne I suggest Red Spice Road - it's a must!
Food fantastic, service great, left with full bellies.
They're the best!
G.
Not the cheapest of Melbourne's dining venues, but the quality of food, the great decor and the attentive service highly recommends a visit to Red Spice Road. We always visit when in Melbourne and have never been disappointed - in fact the opposite: always walk away feeling we have had an exceptional dining experience.
T. H.
Very good food. The wine is over priced. Banquets are a good choice and they provided good swaps for vegans and vegetarians.
Great service, nice place.
D. C. Y. C.
Great service! Food was amazing, did not disappoint especially the pork belly. A must try!
A. A.
The food was great as always. I can't go here without ordering the pork belly. Went this time with the little one and the menu was hard to order for a little one.
A. M.
Was a bit disappointed, expected more based on others reviews
Feel like for the quality of food and surroundings a bit overpriced, there are many places in Melbourne (across the road) which provide better vibes/delicious food/wine for cheaper or same price
Positive is the Service was really good, very attentive staff !
R. W.
The pork belly is the best I have had. Other dishes to share are excellent, always busy and popular, but food quality is excellent.
R. F.
The pork belly was good as ever and the soft shell crab and thai beef curry was amazing too. The staff are so helpful and polite.
L. H.
A very nice Asian- Asian fusion cuisine, can get a bit loud after 8, terrible lighting for photos.
A. B.
Another must try southeast asian fusion.
Great place, nice decor, spacious and good ambience. Can be a bit noisy.
Staff are friendly and curteous.
Food are great, a bit expensive but great taste and portions are generous.
s. s.
Great service , beautiful atmosphere , the waiter we had was Wako , an absolutely dedicated gentleman , with utmost courtesy, most staff were accommodative . And the food was tremendous
J. T.
Went for an express lunch...amazing ambience and food...the location is quite hard comparing to qv previously but the food is good.. the pork belly is sooo good and portion is great
J.
Great spot, great food, fast service and good value. They have huge tables too if you need for a big group.
M. S.
The food was sensational! Plenty of variety and plenty of spice. The wine list was very good as well.
A. P.
As always, a lovely experience. Food is delicious and staff are fantastic, thank you to Edy for looking after us for the night!
R. C.
I went here months ago and still tell people about the food here. Some of the best quality and memorable dishes I've had.
K.
There’s a great deal that only experience can teach, no matter your profession. Yet it’s just as true that no matter how much experience a person collects along the way, there’s a certain amount that only inner aptitude can achieve.
I’m contemplating this theory as I take a sip of a velvety-sweet and deftly soured kumquat negroni
r. c.
Had a pretty bad experience when asked to take away the food I left over. The answer I was given is "We are too busy so we dont allow take away." I found it ridiculous, so I bought the food and I own them and I am not even allowed to take them away because you are too busy? Not even mention as a restaurant, this is a basic part of service, so you are encourage me to waste my food.
Dont think I will ever be there again..
D. C.
Amazing food...too hard to choose a favourite dish as they were all superb. Great staff. A must when in Melbourne.
T. S.
Lovely ambience if you dont mind sharing tables. The food is delicious however they do have quite a limited menu so if you like variety not the best place.
M. D.
Had a salad here could only manage half the plate. Too much dressing. Place is nice and others enjoyed their food but my experience was a 3 star.
G. W.
Excellent food, excellent service and excellent venue. Vegetarians are well catered for here, even when ordering the 'showcase' (degustation) menu. I'll be back!
T. P.
The food was pretty good and prices were reasonable. We received excellent service. Great vegetarian selection.
B. Y.
The pork belly and lamb ribs are great
H. H.
I enjoy dinning at Red Spice Road; the food is always fresh and full of flavor. They have a unique way in plating their food and a great use of spices.
M. R.
Expensive...
Food is ok.. but would have enjoyed more if there was more portion!
Tasty Vegetarian Thai Green Curry + rice doesn't have to be $31 AUD..
J. W.
Good food, nice wine list.
Bit of a factory vibe. Best suited for large casual groups.
R. G.
The best pork belly you'll ever eat. The place is also very nice too and reasonably expensive. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants.
N. P.
Great service. Hit and miss food, with some being great, other being ok. Pricey but bearable for dinner, ridiculously overpriced for lunch. Get some cheaper lunch options guys.
J. N.
Good food and good atmosphere. However, we needed to wait for 30 minutes to get a table we booked for our parents wedding anniversary.
T.
Great food, and really fast service... It's just a bit noisy for me - however the rest of my table didn't mind!
G. G.
Having farewell dinner with participants of the Monash Counselors Workshop here. Wonderful experience supported with delicious foods.
