Authentic Malaysian Kitchen. Definitely lived up to their name! I have been missing food from home and they have really nailed it. Tastiest food, excellent service, just wow! Thank you Roti Bar!
Will definitely return when back in Melbourne town!
v. k.
Food is excellent tasty. Ambiance is fantastic. Staff is very friendly and so nice to dealing with customers. Their attitude is very different comparing to all other cafes in Melbourne. Will think to go again and again on each visit because of their behaviour and food taste. Roti and mutton curry is delicious.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant especially on Saturday where they serve delicious banana leaf meal. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal. Highly recommend!

What a feast!
With COVID and everything, I try to say only the good things about the restaurants I visit. But with @rotibar_melb , I don't feel the need to sugarcoat anything because it truly was one of the most satisfying meals I've had in Melbourne.
I was super overwhelmed as soon as I arrived - didn't expect to see a long queue outside (FYI, remember to make reservation!). Probably the most vibrant restaurant I've dined in. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu.
Banana leaf came with an ample amount of basmati rice, 2 curries, 3 veggies, papadam, fried chillie and bitter gourd, raita, and more! We topped it off with additional goat curry. We also grabbed chicken satays and special onion roti canai.
No cap, they were all friken amazing. With banana leaf rice, every bite was unique. Mixing basmati rice with the rest little by little.. such an experience. Chicken satays were perfectly cooked - so tender and flavoursome. I was wholeheartedly satisified by the end of it. Definitely worth a visit!

One of the best Malaysian roti's we have had in Melbourne thus far. The roti was cooked just perfectly. It was very moist, rich in butter and soft, which was further complemented by Daal (Lentils) and Curry sauce.
Their Chicken Murtabak was also quite amazing.
To end our meal, we ordered their traditional hot Teh Tarik tea. It will remind you of the tea you will most commonly find in outdoor stalls within the local streets of Malaysia.
The staff were nice and friendly, and the service was pretty quick too.
I think this place is now one of my favourite restaurants in Melb.

Great food. Great customer service! I felt everything about the place is done with care and heart.
I’ve never had a banana leaf meal before… and found out it’s like a buffet where you get served the dishes you like. They had plenty of vegan options too. (The tofu chutney and black coffee went well with it too.)
If you’ve never had Malaysian food before, come to Roti Bar! Highly recommended! 💚💛🧡

Roti Bar delivers in more ways than one! I ordered their banana leaf rice for 2 people for delivery and it was impressive. With more than 10 separate items and served on banana leaves, this feast was delicious for both my mouth and eyes. The various curries and sauces were diverse in colour, taste and smell. The curry fish was top notch. The fried chicken was well seasoned and knocked my socks off. This really was an amazing meal with a capital A+!☀️
R. E.
One of the best customer service I've seen in awhile. Humble and wonderful team considering how successful and busy they are, 2 thumbs up!. Food was amazing ! I was there for the Saturday special- "banana leaf rice". Please book beforehand as it gets out of hand with long queues on Saturdays.

Man this place is soooo busy. We’ve tried to come here twice but the line is always so long. Thankfully we finally got a spot when they just opened on the weekday and so worth it. The roti is so fresh and fluffy!!! Really reminds me of my hometown back in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. And the banana leaf rice with all the different dishes are so authentic and delicious. Every condiment just goes well together making the entire dish so appetizing that you just want to keep going but know you have to stop 🤣 If you want a taste of authentic Malaysian food definitely worth lining up here at Roti Bar!

Out in the city after a long time and popped into @RotiBar_Melb for lunch.
Satay chicken skewers
Got this for takeaway and it's so delicious. Lovely tender chicken with a nice flavour of the grill and the sauce is excellent.
Roti with beef rendang
Such a wonderful light, flaky, crispy roti which can be used to sop up the plentiful thick flavoursome curry. Lovely chunks of tender beef but this dish is all about the roti.
Ais batu campur - shaved ice with numerous toppings such as red beans, creamy sweet corn, grass jelly and syrups.
The first bite took me back to my travels in Kuala Lumpur. With it being a hot day, the cool refreshing shaved ice, the rose flavoured syrup, and each of the toppings make for a wonderful finish to the meal. I really loved it.
Glad to back dining inside and really appreciated the friendly service.

A popular and lively Malaysian restaurant in the CBD. They offer a variety of classics and relatively affordable prices. The portions were satisfying and flavours were on point, definitely recommend to check out!

Yummy roti … fish curry was a tad sweet but dhall was delish. Authentic tasting teh & kopi tarik Our server, Gloria was excellent… cheerful & attentive. Felt right at home.
S. K.
This place is like the Malay version of Dodee Paidang! Truly authentic and they don't hold back on spice or try to westernise it for the general palette. I needed 2 drinks to mellow the spice out but I wouldn't have liked it any other way!
Packed full of locals, people eating with their hands, dj tuning out loud music.
Definitely try their fried chicken nasi lemek.
Their fried chicken is blended heavily with spices and is crispy and tender. We had to get extras.
Oh and the prawn curry had such a deep prawn flavour infused in the sauce. My favourite!
Pleasantly surprised to know that with the banana leaf rice dish, everything was refillable.
E. A. j.
The only Malaysian restaurant that i would not worried to recommend to others, they are best in what they doing from the moment you walk in through the door music, customers service and the best food, give it a go for your self without a doubt.

One word about this restaurant - Majestic. Food was truly yummy and delicious. Definitely it will be a treat for food lovers. Table booking is strongly recommended especially on weekends. On Saturday’s you will have special dishes available. Singer Ed sheeran(Shape of you) had visited this restaurant quite a while back. Many of dishes are served on plantain leave which makes food even more tempting. Must try dish is roti(also known as Rumali roti). For a group booking you can order jumbo size sizzlers check video in YouTube about this, it’s one of a unique thing you will find in Melbourne. By mistake also don’t miss to visit this restaurant in Melbourne.
M. R.
Amazing place to eat some delicious Malaysian food. You have an option to eat it on a banana leaf or to order a la carte.

Today I had banana leaf meal it was really yummy. Food is excellent tasty Food is excellent and Ambiance is fantastic. DJ was rocking🥳 I really enjoyed his songs. Staff is very friendly 🤗and so nice to dealing with customers. They nailed their Customer care services which makes this place to revisit again. Keep up good work team. Be an example for all other restaurants across Melbourne.
Break your leg always.
Cheers,
Reya

Had banana leaf today, the food and service was good but I can't see the value with the Set Banana Leaf meal which is $19 per person. The basic set meal comes only with rice, vegetables and curries and no protein! To add an additional small portion of chicken or fish, the price ranges from $8 -$15. The portions are also very small, sorry but I can't see the value. Not going back!

It's a bit busy. Food is good and tastes authentically Malaysian.
The beef rendang is probably the best in Melbourne
J. W.
So worth the banana leaf delivery even out to Eltham. Just unbelievable flavours and perfectly spicy (hot). Have been feasting on the leftovers for two days now. About to drift off into our second crab curry coma 🦀 and dream of perfect rotis.
L. C.
Curry laksa tastes delicious. Most authentic flavour. The fish curry the second time had good flavour along with the coconut rice and roti. But the fish had too many bones. Should get the chicken curry or beef rendang because then you don’t have to deal with all the bones in your mouth and spitting them out.
S. K.
Banana leaf meal on the weekend was absolutely nice. Go here for food.
Ambience and the experience is so so with missed order and telling us there is no more chicken left after 30mins of waiting after ordering chicken dish.
C. H.
Great Malaysian food, in a casual atmosphere. Offers indoor and outdoor seating. Especially huge range of rotis. Make sure to book or turn up early if visiting Friday and Saturday. Great specials on some days that also must be booked in advance, so be sure to check the website before visiting!
F. F.
Truly was in heaven as we feasted on all the delicious Malaysian-South Indian dishes, that were heaped on a authentic banana leaf.
You have to come Saturday in order to get the banana leaf menu and I highly recommend also ordering the fried fish which was beautiful. The potions are massive, all the curries and Dahl taste authentic as well as delicious. Loved the side items they gave like the mango pickle, fried chilli, and popadom. One thing I wouldn’t do next time is order the coffee - way too sweet!
You are also properly taken care of while you’re there. It was a packed house for Saturday brunch, but the wait staff are awesome at organising everyone and ensuring diners are having a great time.
This was one of my favourite dining experiences in Melbourne, the value and authenticity can’t be beat!
M. N.
One of the best, authentic Malaysian places in Melbourne. Simple, flavourful menu items like Maggi Goreng and a large selection of rotisserie, if you've been to Malaysia you'll feel right at home here. Definitely some unique items here you won't find in many places in Melbourne.
G. P.
Roti Banjir was delicious and their satay chicken is def one of the best I've had in Australia. Thanks for a great meal team RotiBar 🙂
S. R.
Fantastic Banana Leaf delivered to your home during Lockdown 4.0 in Melbourne. The food was very authentic, delicious and hits the spot. We had Lamb Curry and Chicken Varuval with our BLR set. It was served with 3 types of vegetables, papadum, raita (yogurt), fried bitter gourd and jasmine rice.
We also ordered Nasi Lemak Fried Chicken and Beef Rendang. All of them tasted really good. Beef rendang melts in your mouth.
Highly recommended for those who miss this type of Malaysian Food.
M. P.
I must say… One of the best chicken satay in melbourne. Eat the satay with lontong (sticky rice) that was perfectly cooked! Yummy and addicted!
S. L.
Super friendly staffs even though they are very busy, we enjoyed our dinner here 😊 thanks team
S. B.
Delicious food! Lovely place... had food in banana leaf after ages! The staff is very helpful and courteous.. service is quick however it gets messy when there is rush. Please book well in advance before you head here.. we did not have a booking .. we still managed to get a table for a quick lunch in 30min :) worth it! Don’t forget to order the banana leaf plate with some extra’s like mutton or fish/chicken fry.
A. J.
I wish I could give this place more than five stars. Everything about Roti Bar is perfect. I've been here many, many times. Every single time staff are so polite and accommodating, and food is brilliant and consistent. I love bringing friends and family to Roti Bar.

After living in Melbourne for 10 years, I've finally managed to eat banana leaf style Malaysian curry and rice. Hands down one of the best and authentic experiences of the classic Malaysian dish. Will be back to try the rotis. Terima kasih to the team at Roti Bar!!
M. C.
Best Malaysian Style Banana Leaf Rice in Melbourne outside Malaysia. All the spices dancing in your mouth and warming up our tummies during Winter Lockdown. Recommended to all foodies who loved malaysian food.
k. O.
Finally found a banana leaf rice in the heart of Melbourne! The food and the serving way is authentic like how we, the Malaysian, will have in our home country! The sides are a little pricey cause I assume to have a little more bigger portions with the price I paid, but overall is what I’m looking forward to have on weekends!
A. L.
It was such a great experience that we can have such authentic banana leaf rice here in Melbourne ! It had definitely made me felt like i am in Malaysia. This would be one of the best Malaysian Restaurants in Melbourne. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back to Rotibar again soon ! thumb Up.
V. L.
Freshly cooked (you can see & hear it!) Malaysian cuisine - much more expensive than Malaysia of course, but still reasonable for Melbourne's standards. Great, high quality food, with quick and friendly service. Decor is quite cute also.
B. J.
We have offered Banana Leaf Curry delivery every lockdown now and it's amazing every time! We live out far East and so grateful they still deliver to us! Can't wait to visit in store after lockdown :)
C. C.
This spot is amazing. The staff are very very friendly. The prices are very fair and with its CBD location, it's very easy to get to. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place with a great range of tasty food options.
b.
Super speedy service but with limited food choices; the chicken curry was flavourful and had plenty of meat chunks and the roti was crispy and hot; the lamb/mutton curry was mainly bones and not much meat
J. N.
Ordered the chicken roller for takeaway, and while the meal was good, but thought that the prices are not good value of money. For $13.90 you get quite a small roti wrap with some chicken pieces and lettuce tomato cucumber portions that are not generous. Better to buy a kebab.
D. L.
Went for a catch up with work mates. Food is pretty good although a touch spicy for my taste. We ordered the satay lamb skewers, roti with randang and mutton curry.
Service was excellent. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and one the waitresses could remember 8 people's orders without writing it down.
My only complaint is that it's really loud and warm inside... Almost club level. Highly recommend sitting outside, if weather permits, to get more ventilation and so you don't need to shout.
A. H.
Never disappoint. My first time dining in as during the pandemic I only manage to order their delivery but both dine an delivery is great! Meet all the standards. My fav of course is the banana leaf meal! Super good!!! Truly miss Malaysia food and they been really good at making it feels like home! Bagussss and of course the people behind it, from front line to the kitchen to the management is amazing!
K. Y.
Great place for lunch meal . Fast service and authentic taste. Staff are friendly and super efficient .

EDIT (Mar 2021):
Out of lockdown and so glad we're able to visit the restaurant and continue to enjoy BLR in its full glory. Love the authenticity of the servings and vibe of the restaurant! Glad they kept serving BLR every Saturday!
Original review (Aug 2020):
Never would I have thought I can taste such authentic Malaysian BANANA LEAF RICE in Melbourne. So tasty and delivered with real banana leaf for your full experience. Not being able to travel home during this lockdown period has made us all a bit home sick and this colourful mess on a banana leaf made me tear a little - tears of happiness and satisfaction. We ordered this 2nd week in a row because it's really delicious! Highly recommended. 🤤😋
C. Y. T.
Staff is very friendly and taking feedback from customers. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectation. Some dishes were salty, some dishes had under seasoned chicken. Stand out was the curry for the roti. I will visit again in the future to see if the feedback has been taken and quality improve.
Attitude is the important thing and a willingness to listen and improve will potentially hello this place become better.
D. T.
Took the time to try out the very authentic and delicious Roti Banjir (Flooded Bread) at Roti Bar.
Love the fresh and soft roti with the delicious curry.
The satay is also exceptionally good.
This place is very crowded during lunch hours so making reservations in advance is strongly recommended.
S. B.
I really liked the food, brought back memories of KL where I spent a couple of years. If you are going as a part of a large group, try to place the order for all, else those who order late, will probably get served pretty late, after all its a super busy place. It would have been superb if they could maintain hygiene levels of Australia while retaining taste of Malaysia. The glasses were simply cleaned by inverting them into a small bucket (which probably has a sponge) for less than a second and putting them back into circulation.
During lunch time, it can get really busy and noisy too.
A. W.
Hands down the most authentic Malaysian food I've had in Melbourne yet! They've nailed every single dish and drink I've tried - each bite/sip feels like I'm back home sitting in a kopitiam again :)
J. N.
Definitely the best banana leaf rice and Malaysia mamak style food in Melbourne! Authentic, generous, and simply delicious! I've lost count of the repeated orders. :)

Brilliant dinner experience!
We walked passed this place a week earlier and prioritised a visit.
From the minute you arrive you are transported overseas to the exotic destinations we’ve missed soo much.
The atmosphere is energetic and the daggy tunes beaming from the speakers create an authentic experience not to be missed.
The place was a buzz with people in good spirits enjoying a delicious variety of exotic food and beverage.
Delicious curries and hand made roti’s aplenty, some even served on traditional banana leaf!
Sweets were also yummo!
Energetic staff are a stand out for their welcome, friendliness and help with the menu. Service is 5 star!
Only downside was my meal came out probably 10 minutes after my partners laksa, and mine was a simple chicken curry and roti. Not sure what happened there.
Hopefully they can just hold the laksa next time so we can enjoy our meal together.
They also had run out of curry puffs and samosas, but the skewers and peanut sauce were delish!!
I look forward to seeing this place expand into Geelong and hopefully the new Avalon Airport terminal, the gateway to KL!!
K. S.
Great food and fast service. Definitely authentic Malaysian food. Love it.
I. K.
The food here is amazing, if you're looking for authentic Malaysian food this is probably one of the best spots in Melbourne. The service is also outstanding :) Wait staff and Management are all really lovely and easy to talk too
H. W.
Enjoy the delicious food and the staff are friendly. The music seems too loud that conversation need to up a notch. Definitely will be back.
D. N.
Fantastic food, value for money and a comfortable vibe! The staff is super friendly and take exceptional care to make sure you have a good time and satisfy the foodie in you. Highly recommend 😍

Ok, so I visited three different Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne CBD this week to compare their Laksa. (My favourite Malaysian dish).
After visiting ;
*Killiney Kopitiam Bourke Street (4.5*)
*Pappa Rich QV Square (4*)
*Roti Bar (5*)
I can conclude, I have given Roti Bar 5 stars. It was the tastiest of the three and felt the most wholesome. Its gravy (broth) was amazing. and I say gravy because it was so thick and velvety, the perfect amount of oil and the right proportion of broth to noodles in the bowl. I ordered the chicken version and it came with about 6 very decent chunks of thigh fillet that where cooked to perfection. There was both vermicelli and egg noodles, eggplant that was nicely cut, a crisp wonton or roti (not sure), thinly sliced seafood cake, fresh mint, a unique fried beancurd (more like fried soft tofu) and beenshoots. A nice touch was added to the spoon that sat inside the bowl and was filled with an extra amount of the laksa paste and oil.
The serve size was spot on. Not too big and not small.
Although it was the most expensive of the three establishments at $16.90 it was definitely the best.
The restaurant was busy and vibrant, service was quick, attentive and fun, layout was funky and no fuss.
Only draw back was the disposable chopsticks than were almost to small to get into the narrow shaped bowl. And didn't seem to have any chilli heat at all.
I will definitely go back once I've finished visiting the rest of Melbourne's Malaysian restaurants.
I also noticed a variety of other dishes from neighbouring tables and they all looked amazing.
P. C.
Good place for lunch, nice staff, decent food.
Had Nasi Lemak for lunch today, after having rotis a week ago. After two times, and looking at what others have ordered, I can safely conclude that the food here is excellent for the price range. The rotis are good quality, flaky, tasty, and not oily. The curries are excellent, Laksa also excellent, and service is cheerful. The wine list is very acceptable on price and quality, or you can get beer or a soft drink.
Very much recommend this place for a cheerful lunch hour in the City.
H.
Stopped by for a quick weekday lunch. I got in early so it wasn't very busy. Service was fantastic, very friendly and attentive and could not fault it at all. The food was great as well. Can't wait to try more of the menu.
M. B.
My favourite Malaysian restaurant in the city. I’m a Malaysian and can vouch for their food 👌🏼 favourites are nasi lemak, banana leaf and roti canai. Great ambience and staff too :)
T. K.
Had been here for a lunch, especially looking for the Banana Leaf Rice. As the name, they serve the rice and the other side dishes on a Banana Leaf. It comes with various dishes like lentil, cabbage, curd, papad, fired chilles and many more side dishes. Though it is is Malaysian restaurant, whoever is craving for south Indian style meal can come here. The meal is unlimited as well, they serve you as much as you want. It is not the only dish available, there various other dishes made from chicken, mutton, fishes etc as well.
W. C.
Some awesome, authentic Malaysian food. Love their murtabak and lamb curry. They also have banana leaf rice, which you should experience if you haven't. Highly recommended!
M. Z.
Nice food, a little bit pricey for students.
My Malaysian friends took me there, and I had a nice dinner here.
👉My friend spent $24.8 for chicken curry $14.9 (main dish size) and get extra egg onion roti for $9.9
👉I ordered beef rendang with roti for $14.9
👉friendly staffs and good service
👉it’s better to order the combo set to save money and get the same size for the same dish (you still can spend more money if you want egg or butter or onion with your roti :)
l. s.
Delicious and authentic Malaysia Roti and satay miss these food so much... and the service is very friendly and alert staff.
S. L.
Tasty food, friendly staff, lively place ! We had a great dining experience at Roti Bar. Tried Chicken Satay, Nasi lemak, Nasi goreng, chicken 65, Murtabak, mutton curry and chicken curry along with roti canai. All the items were really superb. Special mention to all the staffs who keep the place lively and make sure the customers are comfortable. They also suggested to try out mutton curry which was very delicious. Had a great evening !
S. D.
Highly recommended to experience Saturday banana leaf.
Enjoyed the vegetarian dishes.
The quantity of extra proteins - non vegetarian was very less.
Chicken 65 is recommended
A. Z.
amazing food & service xx My family and friends love this place for true authentic cuisine & the service in the restaurant itself (when you're able to go in person) is always top notch. Their satay is to die for and is definitely an all time favourite. Highly recommend if you're looking for an all around delicious, authentic and pleasant experience. Home delivery was also really good too & welcome during lockdown.
M. K.
One of the best made to order roti in the city area. Chicken satay and teh tarik are really good too. Strong tea flavor and not too sweet. Price are similar to other made to order roti restaurant. Their $9.90 lunch menu is the best way to try their food.
D. M.
Wife surprised me with a pre-paid and booked 'Shell out' meal. I had no idea what was coming. A massive wok of fresh seafood and vegetables was just poured onto 2 large banana leaves that were on our table. It was time to dig in.
All I can say is 'Wow. It's messy......but it's fun. You could see what the other diners were thinking....'I wish we had ordered that'. Loved it !!!
D. D.
The staff were really kind enough to let us in the last minute and make the final order, the food was excellent!! Tasted really good, the quality of food was PERFECT!!
We ordered take away second round and again the staff was really kind enough to go out of the way and process the order when the kitchen was closed.
Excellent customer service and friendly staff. Also the place has wheel chair access, Atmosphere was good and everything was clean, highly recommend this place to bring family or friends
S. T.
Food is good! Definitely authentic and tasted the closet to home. Affordable and fair pricing.
Took over an hour for server to come back and say they don’t have the meal I ordered. Messy and poorly coordinated crew.
Music is blasting constantly where we had to shout at the top of our lungs to have a decent conversation. For whatever reasons they’re doing this it is not a positive user experience
Many other restaurants offer authentic Malaysian cuisine as well. Would not recommend this place.
W. N.
Malaysian dishes that are close to being authentic with clean tasting ingredients. Really hits the spot for a hearty lunch. Laksa and Roti dishes are great, Nasi Lemak is alright, needs more sambal.
V. A. (.
Great service, great food. Murtabak, bryani and nasi lemak delicious. We were served complimentary teh tarik while waiting for our food. Fantastic
Y. W.
Came here on a weekday since the place was not open on weekends. The place was almost full. We ordered chicken satay, nasi lemak with beef rendang, mee goreng, and roti egg. They were very delicious! Will definitely go back there next time.
h. c.
Ambiance is so good. Even though the restaurant is soo busy staff really looked after everyone. Must try banana leaf meal on Saturday.
J. L.
Ordered roti chicken roll, Maggie goreng and Nasi beriani. It taste not bad for roti and the rice. But the Maggie goreng are off from the taste. We order teh tarik and one of them has tea bag tag left in there. They told my fiance gonna waive from the bills. But still charge in the bills. Dissapointed for the promise. One point good bout this restaurant are the roti(bread) made freshly.
M.
This is one restaurant serving above average Malaysian food at a reasonable price and with good service. The roti canai is freshly made and is served with an authentic lentil sauce and indian curry. The sambal (curry paste) that is served with the nasi lemak is really good - spicy and full of flavour.
A. L.
Excellent taste. Highly recommended. The mutton masala and chicken varuval was on point. All the side dishes played an important role to provide the extra umami flavours and brought the whole meal to another level. Never thought banana leaf meals could be a home take away and tasted so good. Well done!!
T.
Roti was delicious. Unfortunately ate so fast we forgot to take a photo of it haha.
The highlight for me was the incredible bryiani. Brought me back to Malaysia and Singapore.
Definitely coming back
a.
Food so delicious , the staff was friendly az well ! One of my fav to eat then ! Should try the Meggie goreng & roti banjir double !!!!!!
M. S.
The roti itself is quite good, light and fluffy. Chicken and Beef Rendang also good without setting the taste buds on fire. The amount of meat in the bowl is ok but not enough gravy. Also tried the chicken wings which were way too salty. This place does not have a toilet, they direct you to upstairs in the car park next door.
J. N.
Authentic Malaysian tastes and fantastic hospitality. Must try their Shell Out and Banana Leaf meals.
D. N.
Ordered this (BLR) banana leaf rice spread from @rotibar_melb to celebrate Father’s Day and it was AMAZING! It truly hit home for us and I love that Roti Bar included actual banana leaf for that authentic experience. This BLR comes with 3 types of veggies , 2 protein of your choice, fried bitter gourd, papadams, pickles, 2 types of curries, and an Indian dessert kesari (semolina fudge) Truly a glorious feast to celebrate our beloved hero!
E.
Had the Maggi Goreng. Taste was ok but serving size was small. Maybe they cooked it with one packet of noodles instead of two. It's pricey for what it is.
I. W.
This is my 2nd day in Melb but so far this is probably the nicest restaurant I've tried! The dishes are nice. We ordered the fried rice, the Singapore fried beehon, fried kwayteow (not pictured), the grilled chicken with rice, roti rollers and the samosas. Best dish is the fried kwayteow! Followed by the fried rice, fried beehoon. Teh tarik is good too! My girl didn't like the grilled chicken's sauce. It tasted like a lemony teriyaki soy sauce. The salad dressing was too sour for me too. The roti roller was okay, it's like a kebab but using a prata and uses satay sauce.
Good: fried kwayteow, fried rice, teh tarik
Okay: roti rollers, fried beehoon

I would give this place 5 Stars. Friendly staff, great customer service and AMAZING food. Being Malaysian myself, I'm very picky about Malaysian food. But this place takes me right back home. I feel like home when I'm there. Highly recommend if you want Authentic Malaysian food. 5 stars from me 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Z.
What a great find, had the roti canai with egg, tasted great and very authentic. Roti made to order and there are a heap of options
Highly recommended

Recommended by a friend to try Roti Bar.
I first hesitated as i already have few Malaysia restaurant that I'm comfortable with ( Mamak, Petaling Street & etc ). But then i gave a shot.
To be honest, I was amazed with the food & services.
Sorry to say , they beat Mamak's roti anytime. It's so fluffy and crispy. I could just eat it by itself.
We tried their Char Kuey Teow, Mee Goreng & Nasi Lemak (recommended by their staff, claiming it to be their top selling) .
I would rate
CKT - Was perfect , if only they had some kerang, it would taste like those street CKT that we have back home in malaysia
Mee Goreng- Sweet, spicy & nicely burned.
Nasi Lemak -The coconut rice is the bomb .
Definitely returning to try it's Satay & Laksa
Roti Bar is going to be my regular hang out place after this. Sadly they are not open on the weekends.
A. D.
Ambience that reflects Malaysian style. Lovely and excellent customer service. Authentic food esp the roti canai and nasi lemak. Enjoyed overall. Worth going again.
N. R.
I highly recommend this restaurant! Everything we ate was delicious! It was a vibe with the cool music and good service. A big shout out to Connie, Reshma and Juline. We’ll be back !!!
G. R.
Good food, banana leaf lunch. Superb atmosphere. Had a good time with the family. Would highly recommend, friendly staff.
S. T. (.
Their services are top-notched! Staff are all very friendly!
Love their Roti Egg (Martabak) and Nasi Lemak.
A. R.
Loved the food. Had tried Chicken cahrcol, roti, roti roller, lamb biryani and Singaporean noodles. Yet have to try somemore. The service does get cranky at rush hours though.
c. l.
Must try authentic Malaysian food!! No more homesick after eating roti bar’s food and their friendly and helpful staff always brighten up my day❤️
L. D. C.
Hidden away on Little Collins street and it's been open for over a year. HALAL certified. Had their Nasi Lemak Combo cuz I didn't get my "Rendang Raya" quota this year! The rendang is soooo good. Very Satisfied. Just like my aunt's home cooked Rendang.
The only thing that wasn't up to Malaysian taste is the Sambal... it needs to be spicier! Kalau orang Malaysia order kasi yg pedas macam back home... baru macam home sweet home!
The Roti telur was okay.... But missing the "crispy oily" Mamak style... The curry sauce is good. Maybe kuah ikan can be introduced? Haha.
The best bit was I ordered something that wasn't in the menu.... Neslo!!! I missed it so much that you can't mimic Neslo with the Aussie Milo here. For some odd reason it has to be made with the Malaysian Milo... and they made it for me... But of course it was $$$. $8.90!! BUT AT LEAST MY NESLO CRAVING was satisfied.
Being a HALAL place, don't be stupid and ask for something non-halal ok... maybe Nasi Ayam that you can get at Ramadan bazaar or Ayam Masak merah... would be nice! Will visit again!
J. T.
Good value especially if you eat before 12 on weekdays. Good tasting malaysian cuisine. We had laksa, satay, chicken roti, nasi lemak. All taste great.
m.
💵 $56.90 for Banana Leaf Rice for 2 people. It comes with 2 protein mains, 3 types of veges (yes, including fried bittergourd), 2 types of potatoes, 2 different types of curry sauce, papadam and yoghurt. We added papadam (+$5) and paid a bit extra for a mutton curry (+3).
• ⠀
📭Delivery costs $8. it arrived at our doorstep an hour early at 12:30pm, which was perfect lunch timing. Delivers 30km from CBD to Western suburbs on Saturdays and Eastern suburbs on Sundays.
• ⠀
Review: OMG is all I can say. This is probably one of the best (if not the best, though I haven’t tried other places) banana leaf rice that you can get in Melbourne.⠀
⠀
The spicy mutton curry and chicken varuval was tongue numbingly good. Wished they gave more curry sauce because we prefer to “flood” our rice with Dahl curry sauce (you have the option of adding curry sauce which we did not select). The vege sides were also amazing - I would still enjoy this banana leaf rice with the veges alone, which speaks volumes given how good the mutton curry is. ⠀
⠀
Portions were generous. I saved some for dinner later today. My partner can easily finish everything at one go though, so I asked him to exercise some control 🤪.
J. N.
I thought I was back in Malaysia! It was absolutely delicious! Portion was huge too. I love the crab curry!!! Will definitely order again!!!!!
K. R.
Found this gem lately and keeps me going back .
Buzzing busy each lunch, but service has been amazing .
Food bounce out fresh and quick. Service are attentive and personal.
Not a person who write in a review, but this place deserve a shout out . =)
j.
Great place to try Malaysian cuisine. I love the Roti & Mee goreng from this restaurant. Lunch hours could get busy, so food might take a while but definitely worth it! Recommend coming in early so as to avoid the wait on food
H. W.
Good vibe, attentive staff. A wide variety of roti (surprised to see roti banjir lol), banana leaf available weekends. An Indian uncle in the kitchen. Home made cookies sold at the counter. The energy reminds me of Malaysia, at the very least, early Mamak in Sydney.
K. K.
One of my favourite Malaysian dining venues in Melbourne. The roti are freshly made to order, the teh tarik nice and hot. THis place has all the buzz of a typical Malaysian "mamak stall", but with hip music and the in crowd. While you are there, don't forget to try the nasi lemak and the nasi briyani. On Saturdays, this is the place to go for your banana leaf rice. Make sure you book ahead to avoid disappointment. Me? I'm there at least 2 days a week!
S. L.
Forget Mamak on Lonsdale Street this place is legit and 10/10 will recommend if you’re a fan of Malaysian Indian cuisine. An incredible slice of home in Melbourne seeing how international travel is still some way off.
B. H.
Amazing food and staff. Great veggie options which is a huge bonus! The char kway teow is the best around.
H. C. (. J.
Good food and great service. Had an issue and was pleasantly resolved.
D. B.
loved the warmth of this place. Belly satisfying food.
We had the;
· Lamb Murtabak, which was really good and filing :)
· Roti with Lentils (which was ok-okay, flavours were good, but didn't get the concept of the dish)
The Biryani looked great too, will definitely be visiting again to try that!
A. Y.
Char kway teow was alright, but lack of wokness. Nasi lemak curry portion was too small, the cucumbers were too dried, sambal sauce failed, rice was good. Teh Tarik too watery.
N. N.
The usual weekday lunch is ok, about 3.5 star. I am more impressed with their Saturday lunch Banana Leaf Rice. It is $16.90pp, unlimited refill for all the side dishes and rice, you will also need to pay the for the additional meat curry, which adds up to about $20+pp, which i reckon is very cheap for the amount of food. The only thing that i would suggest the owner to improve is the speed of the service. The weekend when i was there, was a little slow. Took the waitress quite some time before they can serve our table.
There aren’t many places in Melbourne serve Banana Leaf Rice, but this one is one of the good one. I recommend people who like to eat Banana Leaf Rice give this one a go. I wouldn’t think is absolutely authentic but i definitely think this is good enough 😊
M. N.
Not bad! Though the cendol could do more improvement by putting less coconut milk.
R. P.
I had the banana leaf with the ayam goreng. It's a seriously must try. Most authentic I have tried thus far.
J. Y.
Ordered the Banana Leaf Rice during Lockdown 2.0. Food arrived early (which was good as we were getting hungry), well packed, taste great and reminds me of home.
W. D. L.
Amazing food and service from the wait staff; all are willing to engage in conversation with customers and provide really interesting factoids on their food and cultural traditions. Connie, i believe her name was, is such a kind soul and you can tell that she is passionate about what she does and the patrons she serves.
A. L.
Just wow. The curries and sauces are utterly delicious. BLR, briyani, nasi lemak, roti - all yum. And even when the place is chockers, the service is friendly and attentive. And a small but solid wine list full of local drops to boot. If you’re in the area, you need to stop by. We’ll be back, often!
J. T.
The best in town Master chef Ray
Roti Bar restaurant the Macha Lamb shanks was Exoctic &Authentic &many more yummy tasty food👍👏 Deliciousnya 😋
Strongly recommended😋👌💪🏆⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😄🤗❤🙏
D. L.
Nice and fluffy roti canai. Love it. The price for another dishes is not very cheap. But if I miss my hometown, I'll go here.
M.
This was one of the best meals I've had in Melbourne! Can't wait to go back. Service was friendly, and they didn't mind us coming 30 mins before closing. The smell of the food caught us from the other side of the road! 10/10!
S. T.
I have ate at Roti Bar on multiple occasion. Food is always soo good that's why I keep coming back for more. Price is really great for quality food. Staff are super friendly and nice and always willing to chat. Would recommend coming with a big group and getting the banana leaf seafood platter. 10000000/10.
B. C.
The chicken satay is really good.it is grilled to perfection with slightly burnt as the side and taste as good as those in Malaysia. And the peanut sauce was also delicious. Wished they give more though.
S.
Recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! We ordered the BLR set for 2 and a couple of addons that had us eating for both lunch and dinner.
Y. R.
Great food options and cozy atmosphere. One of the best places to have lunch in CBD.
C. W.
The banana leaf rice is absolutely divine! Fish curry is delicious! Nasi lemak is so yummy! Family feast is perfect for our family’s takeout night.
J. M.
Highly recommended.
Good food for those who really miss their malaysian food.
S. K.
This is the best Roti and beef rendang I have ever had.
When the beef falls apart in your plate and there is not an ounce of fat on it then you know you are in a place where they take pride in the food they serve.
I also had the spring rolls that were fresh, fat and crunchy and full of vegies, they were so good I had to order a second serving. And the chicken satay sticks melted in my mouth.
I will try to take a picture next time as I forgot and are my food as soon as it hit the table.
I think they are the best hidden secret in Melbourne. And the service is so friendly.
J. L.
Clean and tidy Malaysian restaurant.
Roti with chicken curry 90/100
Roti with lentil and sambal sauce 90/100
J. T.
Felt like I was back home with the food and service.
One order took about 45 minutes to arrive as the waiter served my food to the wrong table but manager took note and brought a curry puff over to have while waiting. Was also given a small discount. Thanks for being attentive!
Char kway teow was good and portions were just nice.
A. B.
This was so good! We just arrived from Brisbane and were hankering for something warming. Roti Bar hit the mark and rang our bells. My chicken laksa came out hot and spicy and the chicken was tender, moist and was deliciously coated in laksa soup. My young daughter wasn't keen on spice so she ordered a cheese and egg roti - she loved it. I'll be back again. Better yet Roti Bar, open a shop in Brisbane please!
Z. H. L.
The roti is the most authentic one in Melbourne. A lot of places actually serve the frozen roti which you can find the packs in Asian supermarkets, but in Roti Bar you can see the guys handmade from the scratch.
Would come back for the Nasi Lemak next time.
R. U. G.
Try their egg + cheese roti canai! YUM!!!! 😋It’s not in the menu but you can still request for it..
Lamb briyani is awesome!
CKT to die for!
Satay sauce is AMAZING 🙌🏻!!!
C. L.
Absolutely divine. If you miss Malaysian food especially the authentic nasi lemak, this is THE place you best Malaysian food in town. The banana leaf option came with so many choices and they are absolutely delicious. We ordered for 2 pax and there were still left over for the next day. Will definitely reorder again.
S. C. T.
Possibly the best Malaysian/mamak restaurant in Melbourne! The food here never disappoints and stands outs among other Malaysian eateries. Love the Banana Leaf Rice, nasi kerabu, roti canai.
We went to the restaurant when they were doing the Shellout Seafood and was wowed by the amazing spread of seafood. Definitely will come back to try.
Staffs were friendly and the manager? She’s friendly too and ask every table how was the food.
A. S.
Nasi Lemak with chicken curry really good. (Lamb curry perhaps a little dry.) The roti is great, lots of choices. Laksa and char kwei teow kind of on the menu because they have to be. Stick to the roti.
V. J.
Made an order during Lockdown 2.0 following a friend’s recommendation. Ordered the banana leaf with chicken varuval and spicy mutton curry + masala tea. Review:
- all dishes tasted amazing with the perfect level of spice
- generous portions
- good variety of the 3 veges that the meal came with, delicious and different; they weren’t 3 different veges cooked in the same style which some restaurants unfortunately do
- masala tea tasted fantastic (worth noting sugar was already added but I like my tea sweet so no issue for me there)
- delivery came sooner than expected so big plus point as it was a Sunday lunch order
- all dishes were packed well- no concern for spillage
- I thought it was expensive when I ordered it but for all of the above reasons: MONEY WELL SPENT!
Very highly recommend! Will definitely reorder!
M. B.
A delicious Chicken Curry with Coconut Rice followed by a Roti Susu, essentially a sweet roti with condensed milk, made for a better than average work lunch. Very more-ish, I could eat it again for dinner. The staff were friendly and did their best to get our orders out quickly.
P. W.
Yummy Shell out options on Thursday
z. T.
This is the first Malaysian restaurant I tried in Melbourne. Great food and great people
V. H.
I really appreciate the time and effort you guys put into place to produce such sumptuous finger licking food. Would order everyday for delivery if I could!
Z.
Love the food here as it reminds me of my time in Malaysia. Not sure of anywhere else in Melbourne that makes fresh rotis on site. The only reason I don’t give them five stars is the extremely poor order taking and mixups both times I have gone. Wrong orders come out and things ordered don’t come out until you say something. Plates also don’t get cleared of table until you ask the waiter to do it.
L. L.
Bringing a piece of Malaysia home here in Melbourne. The Banana Leaf Rice set (and more) was beautifully packed for home delivery. Everything was perfect, taste was on point. Highly recommend the spicy mutton curry. We are definitely going to be returning customers!
T. R.
I'll definitely be back to indulge again. The food, atmosphere and staff were all great.
J. T.
Have always wanted to try Roti Bar, so took the opportunity to order their home delivery during Melbourne’s lockdown 4.0 - it did not disappoint! We had the chicken Nasi briyani, roti canai, rojak and satay, all delicious!
L. R.
Authentic ambience and cuisine. Only one thing, I wish there were more vegetarian options or vegetarian versions of the non-veg dishes. Otherwise, delicious food and very friendly staff.
C. S.
This place is amazing, from the service all the way to the quality of food. I haven't experienced such good service from a busy restaurant in a long while. We ordered the roti telur bawang, laksa, nasi goreng and mee goreng . The taste is as authentic as you can get. A must try if you haven't check out this gem.
P. B.
Great food, great service, went out of their way to get durian for my cendol, that's what I called service.
Julie leading the wait staff with gracious manners and a big friendly smile, always so helpful and friendly
My husband said their roti was the best in town, I, thought the satay was excellent,
my favourite Malaysian town in Melbourne, will be coming back again and again
O. R.
Waited longer than anticipated but food is good. Bit oily but I guess it's a curry. Roti is best .
S. W.
Great food. Reasonable prices. Most importantly, it's authentic! Feels like I'm back in KL. Been missing banana leaf meals for ages. Thank you for filling in the void, Rotibar!
T. n.
One word!! Truly malasiyan and the food is YUM!! THE BEST CHICKEN 65!!
N. A.
My Laksa was passable and I liked that it wasn't an overblown size, the beef rendang that the guy next to me was having looked amazing. I'll definately go back an try their rotis - after all they are the Roti Bar not the Laksa Bar.
S. C.
Best Malaysian food in Melbourne!
Had the nasi kandar at home today, highlight of my lockdown.
F. H.
Roti Bar is one of those rare places that provides you with authentic Malaysian food, which is a melting pot of so many delicious cuisines that I would rate it as one of the best in this world. Hence Roti Bar is very popular and I recommend not to come at peak times, if you don't wish to queue up. Being always busy doesn't make it the best choice for a date or a quite business meeting, but it is oozes dynamic life, which is perfect for charging your batteries at lunch. The people here are friendly, smiling and in spite of all the action don't appear to be stressed. Don't miss giving it a try!
G. S.
Great to see South Indian food(mainly Tamil) in banana leaf rice at Melbourne, but really don't know why people are calling this as Malaysian food!! Come to Tamil Nadu(South India) 95% restaurants provide same food whatever they are serving here... May be Malaysia would have got this, cos of migrated Tamil people there.... !
I. I.
Sea stock and roti top notch… service excellent and staff very friendly .🤙
J. T.
Menu was very small but overall was not too bad.
G. V.
Ordered Delivery during Lockdown 2.0. Never been so compelled to provide a review. Great ordering process. Delivery was on time. Great attention to detail in packing the food. Very authentic tasting delicious food. I think it is good value for money considering current circumstances. I am sure there must be a great deal of hard work going into delivering such an awesome experience. Keep it up 👍. All the best and keep safe 🙏
h. k.
Love the place and the banana leave experience was to die for.. the service as well was amazing with good food and music as well
R. S.
Freshly made rotis and curry were good, only wish I could have tried more dishes, have to go back for murtabak soon. Authentic Malaysian experience.
L. N.
Been a minute since I've had malaysian food of this high calibre.
We have had the shell out and took me to heaven and back. If you want to know if he or she is the one then bring the here and let them enjoy it. Then you will know.
M. K.
Roti bar takes you back to Malaysia when you put their food in your mouth. Love their chicken bryani and during Melbourne's locdkown they provide yummy banana leaf delivery and on fathers day weekend today, they had a new macha bryani which is delicious! Thanks for the complimentary fathers day cup cake too!
R. K.
This place are amazing, great customer service,we had nasi lemak, curry lamb, roti canai, curry laksa, nasi Goreng with fried chicken and as every Malaysian to complete the great experience....teh tarik and they surprisingly have Malaysian coffee which was authentic taste the food was five times five stars, will return soon.
M. O.
Banana leaf and macha bryani is delicious! Delivery is on time, and food is still warm and ready to be eaten. They even gave a complimentary father’s day cup cake. Great gesture, and highly recommend!
K.
One of my favourite Malaysian Mamak restaurants. While I love most of their dishes, roti and chicken curry is my personal favourite. Their pricing is also quite nominal what makes it more attractive is they have a set of dishes available every day at 10$ which makes it better the only catch is you must place the order before 12PM. It also gets very busy after 12PM so all the more for you to try their 10$ menu
S. R.
I went there with my team. We ordered a variety of stuff starting from murtabak, rollers, rice and meat Curry combo. The dishes were very well made and were pretty authentic. Tastewise I found them tasty as Malay food. However, I did find the portion size not filling for me. The items though looked big as per serve, but they were pretty light and fluffy.
D. V.
The best Banana Leaf in Melbourne I have ever tasted. Very friendly staffs too. Will be visiting again. Thank you for the great food.
B. B.
The best BLF in Melbourne and possibly Australia. I have been eating BLF here for the past 3 years and it’s always consistent and delicious. During Covid lockdown I did deliveries as well and it was prompt and efficient. Highly Recommended!!!
J. Y.
Amazing food!!! Reminds me of home.
S. N.
Traditional Malay banana leaf rice on Saturdays are a must. Bring a big appetite! Booking required and it is quite loud but definitely worth it!

Lamb Shank Biryani was delish! 10/10 would recommend

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!!
CHICKEN CURRY is the best !!!!! 😋 ❤️
Been here 3 years and I’ve never found this kinda Desi and authentic chicken curry in Melbourne. I just ordered it for my birthday and everyone loved it, would give it more stars if it was possible. If you want that Desi chicken curry taste I would highly highly recommend this place 😎 !

First time here. Great authentic food topped with Malaysian friendliness and will bend backwards to ensure your happiness. Can’t ask 4 more!!

Read about it in Facebook Melbourne Makan group. 2nd visit with friends for dinner. Decided to try the 'shellout'. We all enjoyed it, considering my friends have high standards. Tried a few other dishes. Mee Goreng was ok but a tad too salty. I annoyed an amazing laksa full of fresh ingredients. I could see all the other meals coming out looked amazing and the Roti nice and fluffy, service was very fast and the prices were very affordable. I’m looking forward to working my way through the entire menu! We will definitely go back again.
K. W.
I annoyed an amazing laksa full of fresh ingredients. I could see all the other meals coming out looked amazing and the Roti nice and fluffy, service was very fast and the prices were very affordable. Nasi Kerabu is great as usual, so are the roti canai banjir and abc. Very friendly owners as well which is great. Never seems to disappoint!

READ THIS BEFORE YOU VISIT!! This is one of the best, if not, the best Malaysian restaurant that serves the best roti in Melbourne. Their food is exceptional. I am so in love with their stir fried dishes, especially their fried rice. The quality of the fried rice is on the next level, absolute top notch. Once you try them, you will never cook your own fried rice at home. The staff here are also friendly and polite. Their service is excellent. You can ask them for suggestions if it's your first time visiting. You will get to know all the staffs once you visit enough times ;) However, if you are hungry and you wish to come here during lunch hours, do not expect to get food in a few seconds. This place will be packed, as packed as a punching bag. I suggest that you get some snacks or Macca's to fill your tummy before coming in and wait for your food. Other than lunch hours, this place is cozy and great to chill at.
C. T.
The nasi kerabu was absolutely delicious, even if the kitchen's timing was off by a mile. My companion had almost finished his meal (he started at my insistence) by the time mine arrived.
N. M.
Incredibly generous and welcoming staff! The banana leaf was so great and the atmosphere was buzzing. Can't wait to go back.
M. R.
The food was great and reminded us of being back home in Malaysia. The staff very warm and friendly. Lovely atmosphere
V. D. R.
Authentic taste, friendly service and recently tried the flavour packed banana leaf meal . Amazing work Ray, Juline and team. Kipidap!
A. G.
Great food, buzzing crowd, extremely busy restaurant in cbd, service is efficient although they were rushing to serve all patrons,so i would give them 9/10.
N. N.
Excellent food, great warm friendly service.
The lamb satay was exquisite, easily the best I've had and better than most in Malaysia. Lightly charred exterior, medium interior, well seasoned, not needing the use of the peanut sauce. Peanut sauce and onions were fresh, the former with a nice umami flavor
On to the star dish, the crispy, light and airy roti canai. Crispy crust, with nice and springy interior, and surprisingly little oil and not greasy like the usual suspects. The teh tarik is also well balanced, rich and not cloyingly sweet like 4th garden variety mamak back in kl these days, transporting you back to the good ol' days before Malaysian food became the overcommercialised mess it is now.
The chicken curry and lamb curry are a classic and will satisfy your homesickness.
J. B.
Excellent food , this is definitely the place to go to enjoy seafood on banana leaf . Malaysian food at its finest ! We even had roti Bangir ! Best nasi kerabu in Melbourne. Fresh ingredients is the most important. Wish it was more spicy and fish option. Portion are generous. Nice ginger tea with less sugar too. So good my daughter was stuffed. Went back the next day for lunch again ! Simply awesome . If ever in Melbourne this place is definitely worth it
健.
Delicious food and great service. Ordered the shell out and did not disappoint.

omg. i was about to cry remembering my mom. How happy she is knowing i ate food same as home food.
Such amazing banana leaf meal. Thanks for good food
v. B.
Teh Tarik and roti canai was fantastic. Excellent Customer Service. Staffs were extremely friendly and warm. Always smiling. I would recommend going to this place any day.
C. N.
Love the food and DJ spinning music all night long!

The bryani is nice but the chili heat is missing from both the rice and sauce.
M. T.
Thanks for the delivery services during lockdown. Yet another superb delicious meal. Definitely comforting for winter nights. Highly recommended!
D. E.
I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere here. The staff were very friendly and inviting. I will be back!
I have to say - I hated the deafening Heavy Metal noise! ( supposed to be music) It is the only low point of the place.
s. s.
So this place has always been the talk of the town.
I been waiting for it to reopen.
Drop by today with my colleague, and they absolutely love this place.
The food was so good, especially the NASI GORENG. And the rotis are the winner !
Definitely a place to bring someone with no doubts.
Ambiance has improved quite a bit.
A must go Malaysian Restaurant!
J. K.
The roti is great. And the early dinner menu is great for the value. Had the nasi Lemak curry chicken. Great tasting. Out of curiosity we ordered the dish of roti swimming in curry sauce. Not a fan of soggy roti so I would not recommend it. A simple plain roti is good enough.
S. A.
Very nice & new dining setting. Food taste wise is amazing! One of the best Malaysian restaurants iv been to in melbourne! Fantastic quality of food.
Food portions weren’t that generous at the time, but quality was superb!
K.
Amazing food, even better service and great pricing for what you get, definitely will come again! The fried rice was delectable!
K. G.
Teh tarik was sooo good! Authentic and truly Malaysian teh tarik. Made me feel home every single sip.
F. J.
Amazing roti rolls and Singapore noodles. Found this little gem and had lunch there 2 days in a row! Great value and excellent service. Really enjoyed our experience. Definitely a repeat visit. Thanks.
J. T.
I ordered the Banana leaf rice package. Taste great and 90% closer to authentic taste. There is a BUT.... the delivery schedule is not on time. The order late for 45 min.
T. B.
What a fantastic place to eat authentic Malaysian food. Reminds me of being in KL where locals eat...
Lovely host and staff..
Thanks much team.
D. L.
Very authentic 5 stars Malaysian food. Lovely staffs. Will definitely come back for more :)
N. V. L.
Good food but going there during peak hour is a pain. They have many staff but seriously none of them are multitasking. No one is carrying more than one plate at a time, many restaurants out there train their staff to carry 3 plates but obviously they don't do that. It was also really hard to get their attention to order in the first place. I also requested for sambal, the wait staff told me they'll have to charge for it (which was fine), but they never gave it to me and still tried to charge me afterwards. They should have a supervisor on floor that instruct the staff what to do rather than letting them do whatever because it is definitely not working out. They could cater for many more people especially when their food is nice.
T. F.
Great food, reasonable prices & friendly staff. Beef rendang & rotti, yummy 😋.
R. A.
I'm obsessed with their Chicken curry with Roti!! 🥰🥰 truly the softest chicken I have ever tasted 🥳
Y.
Delicious food and good service. Went on a Saturday and the place was very busy. Would recommend booking in advance.
b.
Good service and a good fish curry
K. L.
Really good food and super nice customer service!
R. D. A.
Great and delicious Malaysian street food favourites, great vibes and sincere, friendly service with a smile! Loved watching the chefs making martabak and roti chanai pastry from scratch as we ate. Selamat Makan!
A.
The authentic Malay taste of the food is a party for the tastebuds. The Roti is just as good as the hawker street food back in Malaysia and the selection of curries compliment it well. The curries also go extremely well in the rice or nasi lemak formats. Furthermore, the stir fry selections they introduced are amazing also. Finally to wash it all down, the teh tarik, one of my fav drinks of all time is brewed and pulled to perfection.
D. K.
If you are looking for a local malaysian cuisine, be sure to visit Roti Bar! Highly recommended.
Delicious food , it really tastes like what i had back when i was visiting Malaysia.
Especially loved the Nasi Lemak combo and Biryani and also the Char Koay Teow!
The staff was really friendly and welcoming as well, I really had a great time dining here. Definitely coming back ror more
P. L.
First time there! Impressive food. Without the $9.90 special, the price may be a bit high. Best is to throw in teh tarik, our Malaysian speciality for an extra $2-. Will definitely come back to try other dishes. Curry puff need improvement.
L. T.
Great tasting nasi lemak, rendang and chicken curry! So happy that they deliver during lockdown!
S. K.
28-Jan lunch time - A regular place for a great laksa and Asian fusion. However absolutely horrified that since re-opening 2020 they have removed glasses for water, opting for single use plastic cups. No respect for being sustainable counts me out for supporting this business.
28-Jan evening time - it was great to see a reply to my earlier review and that the plastic glasses is only temporary- what a relief. Thank you Roti Bar for providing a reply and confirming you care about the environmental footprint. Thank you for making the effort to change your packaging too. Look forward to coming back for my 'Roti Bar' laksa fix.

Yummy rich curries with punch of Indian taste missing in other place curries.
Must add amongst the plethora of South east Asian community folks working in restaurants n cafes..these are very sweet, hospitable and genuine warmth to serve you. Makes the experience to hop from office for a takeaway or meal a cherishing one. Keep it up folks.
E. T.
Spicy authentic nasi lemak and sambal. Grilled chicken also has a charcoal grill taste. Highly recommended!
R. R.
The best Murtabak and dhal curry in town. A must go Malaysian food. Excellent customer service.
S. L.
Very tasty and reasonably priced too! We shared a bunch of things and they were all delicious, also a few options for vegetarians too.
B. R.
Delivering during lockdown & best flavors outside of Malaysia - delicious! Get in while you can.
P. C.
Has a new outdoor dining which is fantastic! Food has always been good Malaysian Roti Canai and what you find usually at the mamak
L. F.
Great Authentic Malaysian Cuisine,
Lot of options to try out, and the portions are good, nice and crispy roti with variety of side dishes.Average price of a dish is about $15 which is reasonable, for orders before 12 pm, there is special priced menu too
p. m.
The food is delicious especially the banana leaf meal and roti prata 😍😍! Great customer service too!
G. O.
Fantastic Roti - one of the best around. Super friendly staff and we chatted for ages with the chief about how the Roti is made, the effort in the food and they can accommodate kids that don’t go for spices the way the adults do. Really interesting uses of Roti with different ingredients rolled in. Yummy!!!
M. A.
So our Commitee member organized a Shellout Dinner at Roti Bar. I have no idea what was it all about, was assuming it will be another dinner night. But i was definately amaze with the whole Shellout meal. They pour those seafood from the pot to the banana leaf with a sweet sambal sauce. We were divided into MILD and SPICY team to suit our tastebud. The portion of seafood was so generous, im a seafood lover and trust me, i have not eaten anything like that in Melbourne with a price of 45/per head. I will definately bring my family wen they visit melbourne. Their staff were so accomodating. A must visit restaurant.
C. L.
Amazing food and one of the more authentic Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne CBD. So far I have tried their nasi lemak (coconut rice with condiments), roti with chicken curry, chicken biryani, mee goreng (stir-friend noodles), char kuay teow (stir-friend flat noodles), and fried rice - they're all amazing. They've also recently added murtabak to the menu, so I'll definitely be heading back for more. Also, their teh tarik ("pulled" milk tea) is amazing.
J. S.
Delicious Malaysian food and very affordable. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
B.
After trying few Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne, FINALY I found the authentic and the best one. I felt like I was back home in Malaysia. and food is halal👌🏼 Happy tummy, will come back😊
C.
The place is a great place to hang out and eat some Malaysian authentic dish.
I like the roti, they are fresh and crunchy. I also like the curry which is full of gravy and spicy.
d. k.
Abosulutely Fantantic food and customer service. Milo dinosaur was great even ordered a second one! 5 star fully reccomended 😁😁❤❤😻
E. E.
Cosy place and great service! Ordered Chicken curry Briyani and it tasted heavenly! The best part was the free bottled water. We finished more than 6 bottles 😝 Definitely recommend this place to hang out with friends. Haa gitew Malaysian sangat uolls
V. T.
Had dinner here, specifically the beef rendang with roti and it's tasted pretty good. Cheap Authentic Malaysian food, with great music and a spacious seating area.
K. R.
Although it is an malasian restraunt as per them but they also have very good Indian food as well.
Specially chicken and biryani
Even the place is always crowded in the lunch timing but because of the large sitting area you can get the seat easily.
P. L.
The best Banana Leaf Rice in Melbourne and love their personalised customer service :) thank you Chef Ray, Julin and team for bringing authentic Malaysian food to the land down under ♥️
D. B.
Be warned Friday lunch gets so busy that the wait for your food can take up to 30mins!
We waited approx 25mins for fried rice and a Mee goreng despite a couple of reminders to check on our order. Whilst the food was good, the service was frustrating to say the least.
So folks, would you go to a place where the food is palatable, service not so palatable?
H. A.
Yumm.. so sedap. Very friendly waitstaff, and lots of options to choose from. Food is tasty! 👍🏼
K.
Roti bar is one of the best restaurant around in Melbourne city with the best staff that put in their soul to serve the best plate of Malaysian food to the customers.
The tetah- tarik chai is one of the classic serves at the restaurant.
If you haven’t checked this place out, you’re missing out on something major.
S. P.
I ordered the Banana Leaf Rice with no extra option (chicken curry + fried fish) but it was more than enough for two adults and the next day ;)
It tasted authentic, down to the fried whole chilli in the papadum and the root condiments (it was in a tiny container, sorry I don’t know what it was but it was pickled root, full of flavour) It definitely took me back to the Little India in KL♥️ yum!
N. B.
This place has excellent customer service. The food is exactly what I wanted - authentic tasting curry and amazing rotis exactly as you find them in Malaysia. Thank you guys!! Will be back.
P. K.
One of the few places that serves their nasi lemak with a piece of banana leaf. Love the food there and especially the friendly staff. I got to know Julin on my second visit there and she has been so welcoming and personal with her service. If you want to experience the Kampung spirit, go to Roti Bar!
W. s.
The food was awesome and the drinks filled my cravings for malaysian food. If you are a malaysian student who craves home food this is the place to go. The manager Julin was also very helpful and kind when i had any troubles in the store.
Recommend 5/5
D. B.
Neatly maintained and cozy place. Really looked the light settings. Nice set up for a get together with colleagues and friends. Decent menu... Could have little more of dessert varieties. Service is very professional and people are very friendly.
N. W.
A nice place situated on a slightly quieter part of little Collins Street. The food is really very authentic South East Asian. They don't skimp on ingredients and the servings are generous. Will be back.
P. R.
Convenient process to order. Food delivered on time and very well packed. Best part ... every bite took me back to my hometown Penang. Generous , soul satisfying 👏🏻.
P. V.
This place is usually empty which is a surprise considering how good it is. Their roti is top notch, fluffy yet crispy, easily comparable to Mamak. Beef rendang is good as is Nasi Lemak. Glad to have this one 2 minutes away from work.
B. L.
Tasty food and variety of menu. one of my favourite Malaysian restaurant :)
B. R.

Amazing service and delicious food! Although there was quite a long line the wait was worth :D
N. G. F. Y.
Had the Roti with Rendang. Was a great tasting rendang, though a smallish portion of rendang. I made the mistake of getting take away, and the container its provided in caused the roti to sweat - though even then, it was certainly edible. Mmm... Rendang...
R. M.
I did not know this great restaurant was hidden away in Little Collins Street, Melbourne. The food is fantastic and the staff are great too. I have been to the Roti Bar 3 times in a month already.

C. C.
Yummy roti for a young restaurant of only about 2 years. Definitely recommend for the food. Can't wait to go back to try the curries.
S. E.
Food is good. But have been short changed at the cashier on a few occassions. Check your balance if paying cash - unless you want to leave an involuntary tip

Pretty lacklustre food. Nasi lemak was average and the sambal had no kick whatsoever
