I wouldn't rate it the best pizza in the world. I was drawn there by the Buffalo chicken with blue cheese. Nice taste to it but bit soggy and thin. The meatball pizza slice was ok, with small bits of meatball. The veg pizza was ok again but certainly not the best tasting. The garlic knots were oily. Overall a pleasant experience, I'd try again. For three slices, three garlic knots and two drinks was $29.50 Service not bad.

The ingredients are both well proportioned & high quality, really good amount of sauce & cheese. Pepperoni Wheel was nice and so was the sauce. Ordered Buffalo wings, they weren't terrible spicy. Mozzarella sticks had a good cheese pull are were relatively taste. Pizza bases were nice and thin, not too chewy and pretty delicious... All in all not a bad meal. Service was quick and friendly!

I stop by here and there for a slice. This is the only place I've found in Melbourne with real pepperoni. Really good. Also I just had a slice with meatball, pepperoni and sausage and it was incredibly delicious. Also, it took only 2 minutes and I was out the door with my food.

Very easy to access on Flinders Lane, service is very quick. They have a wide range of Pizza to choose from, not only that but they have some other related food like cheese twists. Their pizza tastes fantastic, their base is scrumptious and when you bite into the crust all the full flavours are brought out into the final moments of that succulent bite. The new Fire Island pizza is delicious, definitely a new favourite of mind. Will be coming here again for sure.

First time trying Sal’s and I’m hooked. New York pizza is their name, and delicious pizza is their game. The slices are massive, and the pizza is wonderfully cripes, light and fluffy. Beautiful flavours too, and you get to choose a dipping sauce to go with your pizza. The garlic knots are the next best thing since sliced bread, and are incredibly yummy and addictive. Definitely can’t wait to go back for more!

So good. Everything about this place works. Garlic knots have decent flavour and are enjoyably dense. The pepperoni wheel is as hot as it could be without turning it into a mushy mess. And of course the pizza- it's recognisably New York. I walked out painfully full and didn't regret it one bit.

The pizza has the crispiest base and crust and remains crispy throughout the journey of eating the big pizza slice. Pepperoni slices and oozy oily cheese are used for toppings. Just got back from a day in the city and Sal's pizza was definitely the highlight. New York Pizza, which is large thin base with just the right amount of toppings and premium ingredients. I was lucky enough to have received a free pie from a promotion and we put it towards a Pepperoni full pie and half Cheese pie. You can fold the slice which is the New York way and they both tasted great. Definitely something that Melbourne was well overdue in getting.

Sal's may be a kiwi invention, but it was started by an Italian American who knows what he's doing. If you're up for a carbo load or pie by the slice, this is the place to go. I tried the new Nonna (basically a Margherita with parmesan) and the Vegetarian. Both were heavily sauced and cheesed and bready, making them more filling options that the standard Melbourne Italian pizza. The garlic knots were good but a bit too bland for my liking. The mozarella sticks, however, were perfect. If you're looking for something to counteract the effects of all that wheat and dairy, Sal's also sells kombucha.

Maybe this had to do with getting online delivery, but the Manhattan I ordered came looking like a deformed cousin of the original. I'm gonna be upfront - I was confused about what New York Pizza was. I thought it was the deep-as-a-lasagna pizza. So, please believe me when I say that Sal's Authentic New York Pizza is awesome. It wasn't what I was expecting (purely because of my own cluelessness) and I'm still extremely happy with it. One mega pizza, one set of garlic knots/balls/whatever they are, plus a drink for $45 fed 4 young men and left us all full. We're extremely happy with the dining experience and the food was all high-quality stuff. Will be dining here again next time I'm in Melbourne - right after I find a Chicago pizza place though ;)

I first discovered Sal's in Auckland...and was happy to find they have started up in Melbourne. I ordered online for delivery in their new 'delivery only ' pop up store in East Brunswick. After searching uber eats, deliveroo etc...the Max size they will deliver is 14"...which in my view isn't really a huge NY pie. To get their 18" mammoth...you have to order directly with Sal's online. Now at $40 for one Pizza...i thought a bit rich...but after eating it (well not quite...we couldn't finish it)...this is the real deal. Only issue is once you order with them...their delivery estimate on their website is faulty. Ordered at 5.35 pm with an initial eta of 6.20...which kept getting pushed out in 5 min blocks to 6.40 ....only to have doorbell ring at 5.55pm...teething problem i guess. DELICIOUS

Had the pleasure of biting into a Sal's slice at the first branch in Auckland, New Zealand. As my introduction to an authentic New York slice, it was damn good, The is base is thin, crispy and big. Since moving to Australia nothing compares, hands down. It was always on the top of my list to get it in me during visits back to NZ. I’m an American, an east coaster even, who has lived in Australia for almost 15 years. I had given up my search for NY style pizza 🍕... until now. We started with Buffalo wings which were delivered dripping with in more-ish spicy sauce on an elevated plate with a side of creamy blue cheese and celery sticks. That’s how you serve ‘em folks! Our pizza came out shortly after but there was no room on our table, so the super friendly staff offered to keep it in the oven until we finished our wings. When our spicy sausage and capsicum pizza did come out, it was absolutely perfect. There were shakers of parmesan 🧀 and dried chilli 🌶 on the table, just like I remember from those 3am slice joints in Manhattan I frequented on NYC party weekend in my teen years. I highly recommend Sals if you’re looking for NY pizza or if you consider yourself a pizza fanatic and looking for a new style. Who needs to travel to New York? Just go to Sals. 👍

If you want thin and crispy authentic NY-style pizza at a decent price, this is the place to come. Limited offering of types but what they do make is delicious. Highly recommend the chicken pizza. It’s the best thing I’ve eaten in a while. The garlic knots are also well worth a try. I won’t deny two pizza pies for around $30 Is on the expensive size but they are proper pizza pies, not the small thing Dominos and Crust serve up. Great spot for a quick lunch near Flinders Street Station!
