Visited 17 December 2021. Wanted a takeaway because of Covid in Melbourne (from Sydney and of course we're all pear shape) Ordered the Lobster linguine and a small tomato based garlic pizza. I left paying a tip and as I walked outside, the linguine slid off the box and sprayed on the footpath as the lid came off. Devastated, but the waitress who'd attended me me said, Don't worry, we'll make you another one. She didn't want to accept an additional tip, so this restaurant is high in my revisit to Melbourne eith friends. P.S. the lobster linguine was outanding!!!!!

We went for dinner. The past was great and the desert was also tasty. Great atmosphere too. The only small issue was with bruschetta bread, it was burnes. Not sure it was supposed to be black on the sides.

Fantastic food, fun & friendly staff. Stumbled on this place while staying at Wyndham Hotel and it was an absolute pearler! Ate outside in the little alleyway. Risotto Balls and Bruschetta were delicious. I had the home made zito con genovese (beef ragout pasta) for mains and it was sensational. Will definitely be back next time in Melbourne.

Great Italian restaurant right in the CBD. Their menu is good and quite varied, we got some complimentary entrees (a pizza bread which I forgot the name plus regular bread), staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Highly recommended!

A nice Italian restaurant with the most friendly staff. We came here for Valentine's day which was a 3 course menu. We started off with a glass of prosecco. The entree we opted for the lobster and spring onion croquettes. Crisp batter and a strong aroma and fragrance of lobster. The other entree was the burrata cheese was fantastic. Soft stringy and milky. Mains were average. Housemade fettucine was well made with a generous amount of tender duck ragu. The risotto was average as it was still powdery in the centre. The assorted mushroom were quite tasty. Dessert was the highlight. The torta margherita was quite impressive with a soft lemon sponge and thinly sliced strawberries. The marscapone was quite impressive. The chocolate mousse was dense and very rich.

DELIGHTFUL FIND TUCKED AROUND THE CORNER FROM KING STREET Lovely Italian restaurant with great decor, good menu and lots of options to adjust meals for vegetarians. Good selection of wines. Waiter was very helpful without being intrusive. Two of us ordered a platter to share for starters, then a cesarrecci dish and a risotto.. both delicious. Too full to have desert but will try it next time :) Good place for a romantic evening, small group (its not noisy) or before an evening out in town.

I'm not a person who reviews restaurants, but the dinner that I had here was inexplicably good. The chef/owner is the most passionate and involved man I have ever experienced, a truly special man. The waitstaff were also infallible and very very accommodating. It is an intimate setting with food that is incredible, couldn't recommend more highly.

Very nice spot in the alley way. This place has very friendly staff and some or the other specials going on every day. Unfortunately only one chicken dish available and does not tastes great. We did not like chestnut pasta with duck as well. Over all this place is a bit pricey and meal portion is smaller.

With a warm greeting upon entry, you feel at ease in the pleasant surrounds. The passionate waiter makes you feel like you must experience each dish at least once. From the warm bread on arrival, the full bodied flavours of the dishes we ordered in both the Entre's and Mains the dishes and service can't be faulted. Pure perfection for food, service and ambience. An Italian restaurant that is a must on everyone's list.

Attended a large group dinner on a Friday evening at Scugnizzo. Not much to fault with friendly and attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere and tasty dishes. A few of us ordered the steak special, fish and ravioli which were eaten quickly. Bread and starters were tasty as well. They do a great coffee here as well where the macchiato surprisingly really hit the spot.

The food here was fantastic, "I recommend the gnocchi". The service was lovely and it is such a clean crisp space that you are not distracted by what is around you and able to focus on your company. We enjoyed it so much, we will be heading back this Friday. Thanx Scugnizzo crew! 2nd visit a week on, as we had yet another work farewell to organise and given the first experience Scugnizzo it was again. We were not dissapointed. The pasta was amazing and right amount of a serve. Entree was amazing and of course the desert was to die for. They have Italian wine with corks so less preservatives. We have been patrons of Scugnizzo now for about 8 years and it have become our place of choice for every staff, business, birthday or casual lunch occasion. Some weeks we will go there two and three times for lunch and we have had many dinners there as well. In all these years that my colleagues and I have dined there, we often recount that we have never had a bad meal. Head Chef Carmine Carannante and his lovely wife Nonie along with Ano, Melbourne's best Italian waiter, well it's my favourite place to eat in all of Melbourne.

This is warm place where to experience real southern Italian food prepared by Carmine, he brings the traditional recipes with several innovative touches. The menu is well balanced with the right number of dishes to guarantee the quality and freshness of the ingredients. You will also experience the interaction with the chef Carmine always eager for constructive feedback and to interact with his customers. PS don't ask for cheese over fish dishes, in Italy it is not well perceived :-)

Love this hidden gem! Beautiful restaurant tucked away down a classic Melbourne laneway. Staff are personable and very welcoming with excellent service. Food is classically Italian, delicious dishes, generous portions at reasonable prices. The drinks list leaves nothing to be desired. I went there 3 times and I was really happy with both food and service. Unfortunately last time I went I ordered a pizza, for the first time and I was really disappointed: too much dough, not enough mozzarella, very very bland. Also, I was charged for a beer that I didn't order. Pasta was always good, but I probably won't return.

Centrally located in the Melbourne CBD. They are open till late serving authentic Italian food with great service. We had dinner here with a large group of people from work. The staff were friendly, accommodating and knew who ordered what despite the large number of orders. The atmosphere was warm, well maintained and kept. We will come here again.

Scugnizzo was close to our accommodation in Melbourne for the weekend so we thought we'd try it - was an excellent meal and even better service from the staff. We had our 11 month old child with us and the manager and staff we extremely accommodating in making sure we were all happy. We also left our daughter's jacket there - the manager called us the next day after we'd left Melbourne and offered to post it to our home. We had a lovely night and are grateful for the service.

Service was great! Steak was terrible; a $38 eye fillet overcooked served in a bowl with horrible jus and very average mashed potatoes. Do not go here if you are eat low carb. but I guess that goes without saying when going Italian. They were also very light on the wine pour per glass.

The staff are great, especially Arno. They don't write orders down they do it by memory. Absolutely stunning! Nonni the co owner is delightful and gives the restaurant a special ambiance with art exhibitions. This is one of my favourite restaurants and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Scugnizzo was suggested by the concierge at our hotel. A small family owned Italian restaurant off little Bourne st in Melbourne. Service was great, started by the wife, owner and we had a great meal. I had the crusted pork chop and Ann, the pork risotto, both very good. Food service was quick, but not so we couldn’t have a leisurely glass of Prosecco. Wine list a bit limited, but we found a Pinot Grigio that worked well with both our meals. This is worth searching out.

Very pleasant first visit. "Fried Calamari' with Lime & Chilli Mayonnaise" was cooked perfectly, however it lacked seasoning and the Mayonnaise was very bland, with little hint of lime nor chilli. I had the "House made pappardelle with pork and fennel sausage, assorted mushrooms and a seeded mustard and cream". Great dish, perfect al-dente pappardelle however too dry and needed more of that signature creamy mustard sauce. Still 8/10 though. Wife had the "Spaghetti con Gamberi e Pancetta" which is Spaghetti with prawn, pancetta and zucchini served with trapanese pesto. This was outstanding. No seasoning required and well balanced. Would have loved to have seen some lovely fresh scallops in there as well. One of the best pasta dishes we've tasted. 9.5/10 Service was efficient and friendly. Can't wait to come back.
