Fabulous venue in the heart of Chapel Street! We love coming here for knock off drinks sitting outside in the sun filled court yard with friends. Food is always good and staff are fantastic, friendly, come passed to fill up your water and very helpful. The upstairs area is great for functions as well.

Great venue for after work drinks and a light nosh. The courtyard is particularly nice. Extensive cocktail menu. Friendly service. Speakeasy has been around for years and is an underated place to go to on Chaps. It's nice to see that's still are after all these years.

Very cool place, solid menu with good options, great wine and cocktail list and the bar staff are happy to mix up any drinks not on the cocktail list. Love the QR code ordering system - makes splitting a bill / sharing with friends so much easier. Tables are a little too close together- just a little more separation would help you hear the convo on your own table, not the one next to you. Music is always good and the courtyard is great for a place to chill for a few hours. Definitely recommend!

I recently organised a baby shower at the private event space at Speakeasy through Bruno, who was so easy to deal with, prompt and nothing was too much trouble leading up to it. On the day, Vinnie and Damien were amazing. The room is cosy and they had flowers and a beautifully set table ready to go for me. They were so easy to deal with and we had such an amazing day. Nothing could have been better. Thanks to the whole team and we will be back!

It's not a bad venue for drinks I guess but nothing special. Hugely over priced. Parma was 32 dollars so you'd expect it to be special but was far worse than a 18 dollar one you can get down the road, even the chips were undercooked. Salad was nice. Falafel were like little bricks, pretty sure they were not made in house. Beers took forever to arrive to start then they got in their groove. Probably not going back given what else chapel St has on offer.

I would highly recommend speakeasy, I had my leaving party in the function room upstairs during restrictions an despite all the rules in place they really went that extra mile to accomodate my guests an make my evening special. My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful tapas lunch today at Speakeasy Kitchen Bar. We had the dolmadies which were just the right temperature and moist and tasty, the meatballs were in a lovely herbal tomato sauce and an excellent tabbouleh salad. Their coffee was very, very good. Food was awesome and staff were amazing however, chefs were arrogant when it came to GF options on the menu. After choosing a GF option we found out it was prepped in same oil as gluten. Given how sick friend would have been the chefs decided to further eyeball us while we ate and flip us off at the end of the night. The tiny bit of gluten could have ruptured the small intestine. Good food, great staff, arrogant chefs.

Absolutely SPOT ON seafood platter! Expresso mocha martini, get one here and you'll be hooked. Great atmosphere kitchen and bar, amazing DJ cutting loose some really nice vocal trance numbers on a Saturday night & not nightclub excessive loud. Massive courtyard hidden up the back from entry on Chapel street, heated & modern. Staff were all smiling which is something you rarely see these days, even the kitchen staff were all smiles. Chill at the rustic styled front bar with a cold one and speakeasy with friends for the music is much quieter there :) Get in for pre-work(out) breakfast too, they make great coffee! If there's a stop you should make in Chapperz, make it Speakeasy.

December 2020 We recently celebrated our second son's Christening at Speakeasy, in the upstairs private dining area. The staff were so friendly and professional. Our every need was met and the functions manager was so easy to work with, to ensure or even was perfect. The ambiance is beautiful and spacious, and at the same time it is such a lovely and intimate area. The food was absolutely amazing. We had a 2 course sit down menu accompanied with sides. The flavours and presentation were on par with fine dining! The portions were generous and the sides were delicious. All our guests were beyond happy and satisfied. We held a function here last year, each time we return Speakeasy seems to impress us even more! August 2019 We recently had a private function at Speakeasy to celebrate our son's Christening. We booked the upstairs dining area, with a sit down 3 course meal. The room was so spacious, with plenty of room for mingling, including couches to relax. The food was amazing, so tasty, beautifully presented and good portions. The staff at Speakeasy were fabulous, and attended to our ever need! It was such a relaxing afternoon! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a private function room. After looking at many other restaurants near by, Speakeasy offers such a large and luxurious space compared to others! A hidden gem in South Yarra!

I had a birthday dinner at Speakeasy Kitchen Bar on Chapel a few weeks back. The food and cocktails were absolutely amazing. We got a bunch of small sharing plates and some of the desserts. My favorite dish of the night was a Korean friend chicken dish. The staff were really friendly, and even helped up out when a random person got a bit too friendly with the group. We had our annual Christmas party at Speakeasy and it was great! Attentive and friendly staff, really good communication before, during and after the event. They were really flexible as we came early to set up the room with decorations and came back the day after to pick up stuff.Thanks for this! The function room is really nice, bright and they set it up following our request. The DJ Raj was good as well and really easy to deal with. The food was great, we had the chicken and the lamb with few sides as well as some canapes. The chicken ribs were delicious! The only comment will be on the desserts that were not as good as expected but the rest was fantastic. Thanks a lot Speakeasy and we definitely will consider coming back again :)

Incredible venue that by the street looks small but come inside you’ll see the true value of the place. Tara is the one thing that makes the venue that extra bit special. She will always go to the end of the world to make the event more special. Even for a casual drink Tara will know the value of your night out and make the night even better. I’ve visited the venue a number of times and Tara makes the biggest or smallest event so much more special. Ask for Tara she is the bomb.

After a disappointing lunch at a newly opened Chapel Street restaurant we decided to look for somewhere else to have a coffee and desert. We luckily stumbled upon Speakeasy Bar and from the very moment we stepped inside we were impressed by the decor and the friendly professional staff who took us on a guided tour leading into a fabulous courtyard at the back. We ordered coffee which was great and ordered a desert described as Turkish Delight, Chantilly, coconut, choc soil, dark chocolate, sea salt and praline - totally yumm ! This is a wonderful place that we will definitely go back to as we are looking forward to trying some of the other items on the menu.
