This was such a fun experience! We thought this was just a tiny sushi store but then discovered there was a whole upstairs area where robots served you your food. I thought the whole experience was very good and I plan to return. Pros: For the number of people that were there (on a busy day) there there was fast service ROBOTS! Serve you your food. Very cool. If you get a booth you'll be in for a treat, they are very comfy Sushi and sashimi were yummy, as well as the beef bowl with 63 degree egg. Well priced - not the cheapest, but still good value for money a lot of different options Presentation was beautiful Music and decor were quite nice Cons: A couple of communication issues with staff Sparkling wine had been shaken up so went all over the table when we opened it, but it was replaced with no fuss Some of the prices on the menu hadn't been updated resulting in items being a couple dollars more expensive than expecting Call button on table didn't work (but that wasn't much of an issue as we could just wave someone over) Short wait outside (about 5-10 mins) but this is to be expected at places with an element of novelty about them

The signature tonkatsu is one of the best I have ever had, the soup was seasoned just right, not as heavy as most soup I have had. We also pick a selection if nigiri from the window outside which were also delicious.

Nice restaurant for a quick dinner or lunch. Fantastic Japanese food, especially the long salmon sushi. Highly recommend, definitely come back.

I thoroughly enjoyed eating here. Even though it was my first time. I had the Katsu curry omelette 👌 flash back to Koko curry in Japan. Place can get busy, may have to wait to get a table. They also take uber eats deliveries so food may come out slower than usual. They have an upstairs dining area as well.

Asahi on tap and tapas for $10 started us off nicely. Service was pleasant and helpful, that includes the friendly robot that made everyone laugh and chat amongst the tables. There was a good buzz in the upstairs section. Our table backed onto the big windows and we sat watching the other diners enjoy their meals in this simple yet welcoming environment. Prior to this, I would usually only go for restaurants with 4.5 rating or higher but I have realised now that these numbers only go so far in helping to predict your final outcome. We had a really nice start to the night. Thank you Superhiro!!

We can on Easter Monday. We sat on the ground floor, we had to wait for a little bit for a table, not an issue at all, it's a busy place. Service was nice but sometimes felt a little rushed. It is busy so they do want you in and out. Understandable. The food was nice and fast. The okonomiyaki was the highlight. The takoyaki was piping hot, fresh and delish. A bit of a let down was the curry - it needed a bit of extra love, maybe some salt on the crumb, just that little something more. The eel was good, not super fresh though. Would try it again. Maybe choose to be seated on the first floor, the experience might be different. The ground floor has a lot of traffic.

Not only was he recommending food on the menu for us, also tried to order something not available for my mother after listening to what she was looking for. He noticed our food was taking a little bit longer than usual as it was a busy Thursday night, I observed Austin went to check our order. Customer service like this is hard to find. There are a number of these stores around Melbourne and I've tried all of them. Each time I have my hopes high for something great, but really, they are all pretty much the same. Average. It's not that the food isn't good, it's just that we are spoilt for choice these days and this doesn't meet the standard of other places. I've tried a little bit of everything at each store and the sushi hand rolls are probably the best. Portion sizes are okay. Prices are reasonable. Due to its location in Swanston Street, there is a lot of passing trade and therefore, the food is fresh. Staff were somewhat indifferent to their customers but I was there during a busy period. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram and stroller accessible. Good public transport right out the front.

Good service, almost instantly the waitress asked if I wanted any refreshments in a very soft tone, excellent atmosphere. Smooth jazz music and a modern simplistic look suits the establishment well. I had the chicken teriyaki don with a side of yakitori. Done very well and simplistic the way I like it and the way it should always be strived for. Overall I have nothing bad to say about this establishment, well done!

Address has a new name "SuperHiro" and I am not sure if this is with same owner. Food is nice and we are enjoying it. Serving is good for one person at reasonable price. Fast service and friendly staff. I gave 5 stars becuase its the first time I saw my 9yr old daughter enjoying a ramen. Great Japanese good. The Karaage and spicy sauce went really well together, and was 6 pieces. The katsu sauce had a hint of spice to it, and was actually cut and crumbed, instead of being crumbed then cut, so the entire piece of chicken was coated. If you enjoy Japanese food, this is definitely a place you should visit!

Solid 4.5 Stars for this new restaurant on Swanston. Superhiro brings their original touch to Japanese cuisine, every morsel is prepared and executed to perfection, I enjoyed their signature ramen broth balanced in saltiness, texture and umami. The sweet potato croquettes were td4 level. The sashimi was fresh but could use a more generous portion for each piece. Overall price was reasonable, modern ambience and very clean.

That was true - the service staff were so much more attentive and speedy now - the food was absolutely delicious and portion sizes were generous. The niigiri and sushi varied in quality, scallop niigiri didn't taste super fresh but the others were quite nice. Not the best sushi I've ever had but for the price it was pretty good. The 40cm long salmon sushi was very nice, salmon went very well with the avocado and Japanese mayo.

The food is nothing short of amazing! My only reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of courtesy and politeness I witnessed by some of the staff. For instance, a lady requested that the egg in her dish be fully cooked because she was pregnant and was told by waitress that they couldn’t guarantee that, without even asking the kitchen staff. I found that insensitive considering the lady was pregnant and it’s not difficult to cook an egg for a little longer. Just my opinion. All that being said, I can thoroughly recommend the teriyaki don!

Superhiro is my favourite place for a quick lunch in the heart of the city. Food arrived fairly quickly and serves for a range of dietary requirements. I regularly eat the teriyaki salmon bento, agedashi tofu and the okonomiyaki. All absolutely delicious meals which carry with them a sense of authentic Japan. The waitress seemed confused when she took our orders: after taking all our orders she looked at me expectantly, as if I were to order something else, like she forgot that I had already ordered. Some of the food came before we got the lotus chips that we ordered to eat while waiting for the food to come, but it is what it is. The pork katsu I ordered was good for its price: I loved the curry sauce, but the pork itself was a bit slim and dry, and the rice was quite wet and dense that it appeared almost glutinous. The lotus chips were good though, and I can't complain because it was all pretty reasonably priced.

So good to be able to sit down in Superhiro at last. I went for one of the more expensive items on the menu. Their sushi/sashimi bento was still fantastic. The freshest fish and other ingredients expertly prepared make for a totally delicious lunch. Tables are further apart and hand sanitiser is supplied. They also do a lot of business as take away.

I ordered a takeaway ramen and when I got home after 5 minutes the broth was warm (not hot) so I had to microwave it to heat it up. The meal was kinda small for its price however the taste was good. Also I was charged 50c for about a tablespoon's worth of chilli powder. Who the hell charges for chilli powder? No where else I've been. Probably wont go back, there are better places.

Seems like a very well managed and organised place. Great service and value for money. I got the salmon belly don which was full of flavour and the onsen egg was done perfectly. Tempura batter was a little heavy though. I wanted to suggest the menu addition of a Japanese style "setto", where you can order a miso soup, mini version of a rice dish and entree style dish. It would help to sample all of the many menu options!

Surprisingly tasty food. There is a good selection of dishes to keep you coming back and trying different things. The Okonomiyaki is freshly made and the Takoyaki (Squid balls) were great. I herd all the staff speaking mandarin so they didn't appear to be Japanese. But I would say the experience here was not bad at all. I am always comparing any place that serve Japanese food with authentic Japanese restaurants that have Japanese speaking staff (especially Japanese trained chefs) and genuine Japanese ingredients (like Bonito flakes etc). Prices are more than fair given the location. Will be back again.

Food's ok, quite good, & basic. It's convenient. However, over the years, the service is/has been complete sh*te. Rude staff, 100% of visits. If you can cope with that rudeness & keep your expectations low, it's a good place to grab some basic Japanese food in Melbourne city.

Great Japanese style food for a great price. Busy during lunch times, frequented by locals quite often. I recommend the A9, Tori Teriyaki Don. Miso soup is free when eating in and having rice dish, but they may not always bring it, so best to ask.

Great place to visit when you want fresh sushi or sashimi. Fair prices and excellent service. The fried pork is recommended If you want a "pork schnitzel". If you try curry in your dish it will add flavor without crazy spicy flavors. In here you can find the distinctive glass sphere lid ramune soft drinks, lychee and melon editions are available. Ramens and other traditional Japanese food is available but I will stay with the ones that offer a different experience. Give it a try , surely you will find something for you.

When it comes to authenticity, I feel like the food isn't authentic but it is plentiful and satisfying if you're looking for a quick meal, and some of their soup dishes definitely have traces of MSG in them. But if you're simply looking for a quick and affordable meal, then Yoyogi is the place. I've had 2 dishes from here and they were the chicken katsu curry and the chashu ramen, the Chicken Katsu Curry Rice had crispy and tender chicken, generous amount of rice & flavoursome curry, there was more than enough for an individual serving. This was my favourite dish that I would always get as it was satisfying it eat. I was never a huge fan of the ramen here, The Cha Shu Ramen tasted like instant powder soup, and the pork was dry and tough. With loads of other ramen specialties in Melbourne, It's probably better to try somewhere else.

It's a place where you can have decent sushi varieties. It's cheap compared to what you get in terms of quality. It's become one of my favorite sushi places at CBD. In some orders (or when you exceed a certain amount of money I am not sure), they serve you some soup and salad. The fish was fresher than some other places in similar price range located in CBD. The staff was ok, nothing to complain about nor to praise them.
