Great little place. Food was tasty and there was plenty to eat in the portion sizes. Heaps to choose from on the menu. A few small issues, why l'm not giving 5 stars. I ordered to slow cooked bbq pork ribs, some parts were a little dry and the meat was hard and stringy. If it slow cooked, l would expect the meat to fall off the bone. Also, one waitress was bordering on rude. No matter how nice we were, complimentary of the food and all the pleases and thank you, we got not one word out of her. If she had smiled, her face would of cracked. Saying that, the other waitress was fantastic. Also the toilets were pretty dirty. Floors and cubicle walls were the worst. Go for the food, not the experience or toilets.

Thank you for the free birthday dinner Third Wave Cafe! ♥️ This is the best place to celebrate. My five year old easily gets bored and I appreciate that Misty Rose offered her some crayons and paper to draw while waiting. Even my toddler loved the food. My husband and I were so full, we had to take home half of what he ordered. 😁 Highly recommended!

Albert park is pretty long drive from my place however, decided to try their breakfast on a Saturday morning. And the drive was worthy. Service was undoubtedly excellent and food was just great. I would recommend to try their Middle Eastern breakfast. Very soft and almost melted lamb seats top of the hummus serves with very tasty breads and poached eggs. They also claim that their coffee is one of the best, let me tell you that you won't be disappointed, It is INDEED one of the best. I would definitely go back there to try their bbq meats for dinner. For me it's a must try place in Albert Park.

Third Wave Cafe offers my favorite burger ‘Juicy Lucy’ and I recommend my friends to try it. The Smoked Lamb Burger also tastes great. When I decide to go to the Port Melbourne beach and enjoy the sunset views, the burgers from this cafe would be my first choice for the dinner. Highly recommended.

The portion sizes are great! Very enticing. Good variety too. Brisket fries and corn bread are so good! The only downside was I expected more spice. Sauce on chicken wings was sweet. Pork ribs were sweet. That overpowered any spice there may have been. Great if you can improve that. Apart from that, good ambience and great staff.

This place knows their meat. We ordered the meat board and the meat cube, the board was amazing and really covered all bases in terms of the traditional American style bbq. Unfortunately the meat cube was a bit gimmicky and was a regretful order as although the meat inside was great, tender and juicy the idea was more of an instagram worthy pic then something you'd actually enjoy eating. Do yourself a favour and skip that one. I'm also not sure if this is normal but the wait time did feel quite long at just over an hour from order to food, maybe this is common with these type of places? I'm not sure but I feel some sort of indication on how long the food will take (if expecting to be over an hour) should be given during ordering. Nevertheless we left here overall really happy with the meal and if in the area again will return to give them another shot.

Best pulled pork burger I have ever had. Give it six stars. Wait times was good and staff friendly. Order by QR from table. The chocolate milkshake was a good addition.

Had a family birthday lunch Claudio looked after us the food was delicious service was fantastic. I shared the rib O Laki with my husband. A very fun menu and friendly service. I was wanting to try Third Wave for a while and decided on my first visit that I must have a burger. The flavours were certainly unique and you can really taste the charred flavours of the meat which is what I think makes this place stand out. I am definitely curious to try the rest of their menu, particularly the giant sharing platters with a group of friends!

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was so delicious. Service was very accommodating and the meat was amazing. This restaurant even has great options for vegetarians or vegans. The meat is so soft and has such great flavour. There is something here for everyone.

Incredible customer service from the team! I was experiencing some issues and they were quick to help fix everything and talked me through the process. I got the slow cooked BBQ lamb burger, they had a 2 for 1 deal for lockdown so I thought this is the perfect time to try it as they are a bit over priced for burgers. It did not disappointment, my son said it was full of meat and that it's definitely worth full price as he is a red meat lover. You do not need sides with this, it was a massive feed, meat so soft and every bit of it went together perfectly so no complaints at all. I will definitely come back on the Wednesday for my birthday I think.

Got the BBQ platter for 4 - HUGE. Beef meats were delicious, kransky was tasty, chicken wings were great, can do without the dry chicken leg, mac n cheese (bit dry and there's a weird taste to it that was not for me), and the bacon was super spicy which is not what I expect from "candy bacon." Not 5 stars because of the above and service was average at best. Cocktails - meh, unmemorable and expensive. Is it worth the super expensive price tag? Maybe for the novelty. If you're gonna have prices like that, then you're selling a dining experience- not just how ok the food tastes.

A lot of people we know absolutely love this restaurant. Particularly because of the platters, location, and portions. Both of our boys are going to the gym a lot at the moment and always want protein so they were pretty excited to go here. We ordered one of the platters for four. It is huge. The bacon was a little spicy for my liking. The rest was good. The onion rings and corn bread were yum. The meats were great. FYI If you are not a sauce lover you won't enjoy the food. It is covered in sauce. You have to book. It gets busy here. Def worth checking out.

Anytime we feel like having American bbq, this is one of our defaults. Meats are flavourful with the expected textures, sides are just as good. The first time I had key lime pie was from them and it was so good I started googling recipes. Sometimes we don't even use the sauces with the meats because the meats are so flavourful on their own, so I use the sauces to marinate some chicken for the next meal instead.

I am a pork roll lover, I visited third wave after seeing their 2ft pork roll advertised on facebook.. slow cooked meats were nice and tasty, salad was fresh and soy glaze finished it off nicely without being overpowering, the roll was a little dry due to the lack of butter and also lacked crackle which is a big let down in my opinion.. the roll was served with chips which were a little thin yet really nice.. would have scored a 4 out of 5 but was charged an extra 10% on top just because it was a sunday which i think is pretty poor. Will easily feed 2 so if you dont mind the price id say its worth a try.. also the young lady that served me was really nice..

Stumbled across the Third Wave Cafe while strolling through South Melbourne and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately we were only there around midday and didn't have en empty stomach for all the amazing looking BBQ platters, but the breakfast muffin was just yum, the coffee good and my home made ice with fresh fruit yum. Definitely recommend booking a table before coming, their website was easy to use and we skipped the huge line and wait. Came with a group of 4 so we did a smorgasbord of meats; bbq ribs, wings, brisket and sides of Mac-n-cheese, coleslaw and fries. The highlight were the ribs, the wings were ok, I felt they may have been undercooked and hidden from all the sauce. Highly recommend the brisket, full of flavour and tender. What stopped me from giving full marks was the customer service; basically non existent here. Had more of a fast food chain atmosphere of come in, order and get out. Zero interaction with wait staff (I know it was Christmas season and they’re busy as hell but still an occasional check up would’ve been nice).

First off, the positives. The staff were wonderful and attentive, and it's a clean, open air venue. The chocolate muffin was delicious, with the chocolate inside melted just enough to really bring out the flavour. The berry smoothie was also very good. The negatives, there's very little on the menu for vegetarians/vegans. My omnivore companion was very happy with the clothesline-style bacon. I found the coffee to be a bit bitter. And the prices were a little high. Another thing to note is that the orders are placed via your mobile phone. Personally I like to put my phone away and just enjoy the moment either by myself, or with the person/people I'm dining with. I'm also not sure how one would order were they not to have a mobile phone.

A friend and I visited this place on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I ordered the Beef Ribs with a side of wings while my friend had the Brisket with a side of Mac and Cheese. The Beef Ribs were so tender they fell off the bone and they tasted divine! I got a taste of the Brisket and it was great too but the ribs though... I must confess being a bit skeptical about this place, whenever an ad appeared online about this place I always thought it was a bit too much, that is until I actually paid it a visit. To put it simple, if you're famish, love ribs and truly loaded chips then don't think about it twice and just go to Third Wave Cafe. Make sure you have not eaten or had a little meal during the day hahaha. Portions are massive, food is delicious. Standard selection of drinks. My one thing, only because I'm a like this, the beef could be seasoned a bit better; granted most people won't notice as the sauces are delicious and their strong point are actually ribs which were spot on.

Yummy food presented well but a bit pricey. The lady at the door must have been overworked that day as she was not smiling and quite grumpy and rude. The time I'm writing this review is when I still haven't received my order. Been sitting here outside in cold and windy evening for a sweet 40 Minutes so far and nothing has arrived yet .. If I hadn't paid for my food in advance, I had left this place for a good survival reason . I know it's busy here, only two girls running here and there trying to serve like 100 customers...doesn't make sense.. no heating or curtain outside which stops the wind at least .. So disappointed.. I was planning to buy this place once upon a time during covid ,but didn't happen .. Of I buy this place today: I'll make a more pleasant outside sitting area with proper heating system .. Put a few more staff least for weekends to get the food as quick as possible. . Good luck owner , I know your food is good. Haven't tasted it yet thought... but food quality is one factor and customer service is another...

Bit hit n miss for me....got there 10mins early and was basically told to go away until booking time as there's nowhere to unwind and have a drink....ordered a BBQ tray for 2, was very generous in size and reasonably priced but half the meat was beautiful and other half (brisket and pork) was quite dry....one of the wait staff was bubbly and accommodating whilst other cpl couldn't really be bothered.....not sure if I'd go back

The food is absoloutley delicious at the Third Wave Cafe! The candied bacon and brisket are what keeps us coming back! However, we visited the Albert Park restaurant for the first time tonight and were so disappointed with the service. It was just chaotic and we were made feel that we inconvenienced the staff by asking for anything. The atmosphere upstairs was quite uncomfortable, cramped and so stuffy. We definitely won't be back to the restaurant as there is just no atmosphere whatsoever, but we would order takeaway again!

A great night out. The waiting time was minimal, staff friendly and everything was reasonably clean despite being evening after clearly a busy day. Food was absolutely delicious, portions are generous. The meals were brought out extremely quickly with no problems whatsoever. Having tried the BBQ chciken wings, loaded fries, corn bread and Russian salad I will admit that the sauce is definitely the highlight of the meal. The sweet apple verity was definitely my favourite, and went really well with the home style corn bread. I will definitely come next time with a bigger group to sample the dinosaur beef ribs, and the selection of amazing looking burgers. On a side note I'd give the bathroom a miss if at all possible

Confidently, and with an air of arrogance, I ordered the dinosaur ribs. When the waitress brought it out I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at. "Dinosaur ribs?" she said. "Yes. Wait. I generally don't leave reviews. However, my experience at Third Wave Cafe, made me write one. We went in a group and ordered separately for the table through their online ordering for venue "MrYums". The webpage freezes a lot and my order went in last due to freezing and order placed was delayed. Due to this the kitchen was messed up and I didn't end up getting my order. When I spoke with the staff about not receivng my order where as the table had almost finished food. The attending staff was very apologetic. Very rarely someone make me feel the apology is genuine. The staff was so genuine about the apology, that it sort of made my day calming me down. I requested to make it takeaway as I had already paid. They ended up giving me free drink and dessert. Later when I ate the smoked lamb burger, it was very good even after reheating. And the pecan pie was excellent as well. Which made me feel these guys deserve a 5 stars. Getting an order wrong or something going wrong with table, is common. However, very few places are able to leave a memory on how they handle situations and treat you after things have gone wrong. We got the lamb shoulders, pork ribs, smoked mac and cheese and the 3 little piggies. The burger was slightly over pickled but the rest of the dishes were good. Certainly didn't need to order the Mac and Cheese (probably because we got milk shakes before eating). Milkshakes were a little bit pricey, good milkshakes though, especially the Oreo one, it actually tastes like Oreo. All in a all a decent experience. Would be keen to try their take away next time. The food here is always great, however on my most recent visit to their new location I was a bit disappointed. Firstly, a new ‘online’ ordering system… I mean, who needs that?! Are they afraid to talk to customers? How do you ask a question or specify a need online? Or maybe they don’t want you to? We don’t need to be forced to stare at our phones even more than we already do. Secondly, I ordered Russian Salad as Main Course size… but they brought an Entre Size. It took ages for them to correct the (online) error, while my poor companion waited patiently while her meal cooled down. In the end, it was a totally wasted effort, as the Main course Russian Salad is maybe 10% bigger than the Entre size, but at twice the price!? So if you like Russian Salad, go for it, it’s great… but order the smaller size. Five stars for great food, but three stars for the silly ordering system.

Fantastic place for dinner. The portions are enormous, so make sure you plan accordingly and don't eat all day before you go. We were however dissapointed with the Forever Pancakes which were sold on the premise described on the menu to be “a HUGE tower of pancakes” and amazing instagram photos of a glorious multistack pancake. We were puzzled to have received a not so huge two stack pancake. We brought this up to our waiter who explained this is a dinner sized pancake and was not the lunch sized pancake. We tried to ask to speak to a manager but this again was brushed off by the waiter as the price difference was also less by 5 dollars. We feel this is very misleading and deceptive selling the same menu item and description and getting a different product served. At the very least change the name and description for your dinner sized pancake and call it an Occasional Pancake and not the Forever Pancake. Apart from this for everything else, still worth a visit to this place.

Table for 12 on 31st October 2021. I'd been looking forward to eating at Third Wave ever since a friend mentioned it in 2019. My 35th Birthday was my reason to go and after 2 years of waiting Third Wave provided an absolutely amazing meal. I fully expected the experience to be slightly off the mark, bearing in mind the struggles that many restaurants have faced over the COVID era and the recovery required from that, but the food and service was absolutely 5 star. Our table ordered a good variety of the burgers, sides and BBQ and everyone from our youngest 2 year old eater through to the oldies at 70+ loved every part (Including our 2 year old taking a bite of her burger, and then proclaiming 'yum' as loud as she could). The meals may seem on the higher price end (in comparison to a run of the mill restaurant, or burger bar) but you get what you pay for at Third Wave. The quality is there in every way, and the process that goes into making the food is worthy of the price tag in my opinion (Having tried to smoke my own meat and knowing the attention to detail required). Other than the great food the service staff were really friendly and accommodating, and I would absolutely recommend to a friend. 5 out of 5 easily and i'm looking forward to the next visit.

The portion size is enough for 4 adults and included 2kg pack of ribs with broth/sauce, corn bread (they have amazing corn bread), mac n cheese, bbq chicken wings, beans, coleslaw and at 99$ it was a steal. The ribs arrive fresh the day you want to cook them and you wack them in the oven following isntructions in the box to the T. 3 hours later you have succulent fall off the bones ribs. Mac n cheese is cooked you just need to melt the cheese in the oven. Wings, beans and slaw are ready to eat. No mess as everything came in oven friendly containers. Everything was super yummy. 10/10 would recommend and cant wait to visit them once lockdown is over👍

We went at night time on the recommendation of a friend as they know I love beef ribs. The restaurant is a 30min tram ride away from Melbourne cbd. The wait staff are very friendly and gave meaningful advice regarding the food when asked; were extremely accommodating regarding changes in menu items (we wanted loaded fries with vegan topping but real cheese); and very receptive to constructive feedback at the end of the meal. There is no mistake that the food is not healthy and no one would go to such an establishment with health in mind. But for those of us who are wanting to merely dip our feet into the world of metabolic disease rather than go the whole hog, we were hoping for some middle ground. We ordered a large salad to get something green but unfortunately it was drenched in dressing. We would have loved a bowl of green vegetables or mixed seasonal vegetables. It would have made all the difference to have something fresh to balance with the heaviness of the meat. I’ve gotta say, the beef ribs were amazing! I hate smoky meat and these weren’t smoky at all so that was a pleasant surprise. The chips with cheese were amazing and the vegan topping was also very good! Would love to bring my friends along. Stumbled across the Third Wave Cafe by chance and couldn't have been happier with the result. The cafe was packed on a Saturday night (always a good sign) and we were hoping for a walk in table. The friendly waitress informed us they were fully booked but she checked with their manager and ended up squeezing us in at the bar. For a small venue the menu is supersized with American style food and shakes. The burgers were next level. Cooked to perfection, well balanced with flavours and tasty condiments, and BIG. I wouldn't recommend the all you can eat Tuesdays, mainly due to price and limited range of meats, but if you're a big eater you can definitely get your money's worth... Having said that, the monthly specials are always a treat and usually such large portions that single dish is definitely good for 2 people or more. Price aside, TWC has great service, great food and I will be coming back over and over.

As always I read the reviews before we make a decision on a new restaurant. Boy o boy did they deliver. For the ribs the meat just slid off the bone, the brisket were as soft and juicy as can be and the coleslaw were as if they were meant to be there. As per other reviews, no sauces needed, the quality of the meats, the flavors and the aromas were mouthwatering ! We actually placed a second order ( and round of drinks ) just to try out the chicken wings - defs going again. The online ordering system was a little daunting at first but turned out to be really easy. The food was very good. I had the beef ribs, whilst the sauce was a little sweet for me, the meat itself was full of beef flavour and fall off the bone tender. My wife had the classic burger and it looked great, youngest had the quesadilla and eldest the chicken. All looked good and everyone loved their food. We also had chips and onion rings to share which were great. So often I find onion rings disappointing. Not this time, they were crispy and the onion sweet and soft. Will definitely go back again.

I had to move the table water and the qr menu thing as well as a few serving boards that had plates on them.... This made the waitresses confused on where the food was going. The whole qr menu thing is a p.i.t.a as we were told that it must be done this way but saw a table behind us ordering from the traditional menu. I will be back but will ask for a table for 3 Our order was billed for a few hundred but only ordered $80 worth of food. Mistakes were made to the table next to us and their bill was questioned also. Look for parking a few streets back as this area is quite busy. These things happen as we're all human. I will be back soon.

Had dinner here with my partner and we absolutely loved it. We ordered the Jucy Lucy Burger, 3 Little Piggies Burger and the Brisket Loaded Fries. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. We will definitely be back to try the ribs next time.

Decent pricing on fairly good bbq. Wouldn't rush back, but good service. Not really family friendly, no kids menu options, but provided a share plate for the little one. Portion size was okay, but not what you expect from BBQ, especially if you have experienced real BBQ.

I must admit this place truely lives up to its expectations. The vibe and layout of the new site is lovely and the food is simply on another level. 8 of us Attended tonight a nice busy Friday night for a 7.30pm booking, greeted and seated quickly. Staff were all friendly, (great accents happening by the way). We done the Ribovlaki, the dino ribs the amazing amazing brisket loaded fries, Chicken Quesadilla, cheeseburger, lamb burger a million little sides and EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING... All came out at the same time tasted amazing and is probably enough food to feed the family tomorrow left over lol. Ordered meaty burger (oh mumma), pork meatballs and alcoholic thickshake (hazelnut flavour). Food was good. Only downside was the burger felt like it was missing the spicy bbq sauce. Tasted like meat and cheese, nothing to combine the flavours. But this could just be a preference. Overall good food and service 👌

Have had two wonderful experiences at Third Wave. One was a decadent anniversary with money well spent on classics such as the Burgeritto, Candy Bacon, and Key Lime Pie. The other was with good friends enhoying the Triple Stacker. Jokes were told at everyone's expense, including the greatest joke of all time being created. Did the post-food coma delirium inspire this comedic creativity? Possibly. I will return again.

Some of the best slow cooked meats! Definitely coming back for more. Tried the the three little piggies burger. A bit on the sweeter side but delicious nevertheless. Even the brisket loaded fries were amazing but had a subpar serving of brisket on the fries. Can't complain too much cause the brisket cut like butter!

Revised Jan 2019: Came again after a couple of years and very happy to say the service has changed a fair bit. The same staff have improved their customer service quite a bit. They even came up and check if everything was ok. Huge difference from my last experience a couple years back. I tried their January special the Unicorn Ribwich. It'sa massive double rainbow cheese toastie with slow smoked beef ribs. It's definitely enough to share between 2. The rib was the same tender, melt in you mouth goodness as I remembered it. The salmon fantasy included 2 pieces of beetroot GF bread in 2 ways. The first slice had smashed avo and the other was topped with a homemade tzatziki. The salmon was perfectly smoked. Lastly the bacon freak shake, it was sweet, salty and delicious. There were lots of little bits of bacon in the milkshake and it works surprisingly well. Well done Third Wave, great experience. ................................................................ The burgers here are ridiculous in a good way. They are big and juicy with quite a few varieties to choose from. I got the ribsy and the rib meat was soft and melt in your mouth. The milkshake though are so overpriced for what they are. You'd expect one of those freakshakes you see on Instagram for what you pay but instead you get a small plain milk shake. I got the rusty which was meant to be orange and chocolate except it was so sickly sweet you couldn't taste any flavour. The staff here are also a bit rude, not sure if it's the Russian way but they were so serious, ladies need to relax a little and have some fun, or at least smile.

We recently celebrated my husbands 30th birthday here. The food was fantastic and the staff were warm and welcoming. I also wanted to say a big thank you to the staff member who returned a small gift I had forgotten at the restaurant. We had the all you can eat beef ribs on Saturday night and it was absolutely delicious. Tender meat falling off the bone and cooked to perfection. In general all the BBQ meats are of good quality and tasted good whenever I have ordered. Staff are friendly and enthusiastic. Would highly recommend this place to anyone especially the carnivore lovers out there.
