Comments of Vegie Bar
L. B. (.
First of all I probably need to say I think I’ve been coming here for about 20 years. How is that even possible??
As per the last several years when ever I eat here which isn’t frequent at all I always get the burrito. It was delicious and very filling surprisingly. But from memory that always happens. My friend and I were out for lunch for both of our birthdays. Jewelz My friend has lots of food requirements. She was pretty excited to be able to order a gluten-free dairy free vegan barbecue ‘chicken’ pizza. It was a really good size and looked delicious. We’ve had a full day of sightseeing in our home city Melbourne So we were hungry. We had my puppy with me so we sat out the front but it was sunny and they had nice umbrellas up. The waiter was extremely friendly with a cool accent and just the right amount of flirtatious chatter. We also had the berry smoothie and it was the most delicious drink I’ve had this year. The toilets were small but clean and tidy as always. I love that this place is in its original location and still serving up the goods, I just wish I could’ve fitted in one of those deserts. Next time! Veggie bar please don’t go anywhere you’re like a warm big hug for me after the last few years here in Melbourne. Thank you!
J. M. T.
Great place! We loved how many options they offer, with a wide variety of styles. Most dishes are well balanced and nutritious and the desserts are amazing.
All vegan!
N. T.
Got there early so we are still able to get a table without waiting in a long queue. Vegie Bar has always been very well known and good however 3 out of 5 dishes we ordered this afternoon do not seem to be up to the Vegie Bar standard.
Vietnamese Noodle Salad, the noodle is not cooked and no extra Nuoc Nam sauce is given on the side.
Mee Goreng with peanut sauce?
Yaki Udon seems like the wrong type of udon is used.
L.
You can never go wrong with a visit here. Even after so many years, Vegie bar is still producing insanely delicious food.
The only thing I didn’t like - the coconut yogurt next to the burrito and the service (which was not friendly in anyway as it was almost like we were offending the waiter my friend was asking questions to).
S. A.
What an amazing place. Really good food and for the first time I had so many options 😝 in vegetarian. Amazing desserts and drinks too. Worth trying.
D. L.
Awesome lunch. Margarita Pizza, Mushroom Bao and Duck Udon along with some nice beverages. All dishes were very good. Portion size of the dishes were perfect.
The pizza though... 👌👏🙌 🤤 soooooo goood!!! Simple flavours executed to perfection. One of the best pizza bases I've ever had. Will definitely be back!
R. K.
Been to Vegie Bar many times and it's always delicious. We ordered the Burgernator and the Tofu burger. Both were amazing. The Burgernator was juicy and the "meat" and "bacon" were the best I've tasted. The tofu in the tofu burger was crispy and flavourful and it paired great with the slaw. We also ordered the raspberry ganache tart which was the perfect balance of sweet and bitter.
Definitely a must visit for vegan food in Melbourne.
G.
I had the burger and it was delicious.curry was amazing too. Staff very nice and the place inside is very cool. My only suggestion: maybe the fries portion could have been a bit bigger 😉
N. T.
Very enjoyable meals and fast service. They serve all kinds of cuisines.
I had the Zen Buddha Bowl and my friend had the Poke Bowl.
S. C.
Dinner here was awesome. Great range of vego food, I literally did not want this burger (pictured) to end. Also super accommodating for allergies. You don't need to be vego to enjoy the menu. Cocktail was also great. Highly recommend!
Y. S.
It’s always nice to visit a place that is fully vegan and has a wide variety of tasty food. We ordered a pizza and the baos (the fried chick’n in the baos were incredible) and they were both amazing. The venue and servers were also nice.
S. M.
Great food. Great people. Great times.
Pro tip: add the coconut yogurt sour cream 🤤 to the yaki udon…. Seems weird I know right but DO IT
D. M. T. R.
Absolutely amazing! Food, vibe of the place, customer service. The fact that everything was vegan and delicious 😋. Will recommend it 💯
X. C. Y.
Great outdoor seating area. The food is near perfect and I liked that the restaurant is cashless as everything is ordered and paid through a scan of QR code.
n. b.
Best vegetarian food, very delicious, generous serving size and huge menu to choose from and reasonably priced. Nice ambience, great vibe. Service is awesome and quick. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
I. K.
Lovely pesto pizza and noodles ! The pizza wasn't as cheesy as I would have liked but that's okay! Extremely busy restaurant and wonderful service 😊
R. “. T.
Food excellent. Got the cheese burger pizza and was delicious. Pizza took awhile to arrive, other members of my party had their meals before me including 2 other pizzas. We had to ask several times to get water bottle filled. Other than that service with a smile.
A. A.
Loved the tempeh bowl! Beautiful presentation and good flavours. The fries were a bit salty, but a little shake and they were delicious. The interior also has a cool warehouse vibe with large ceilings and indoor plants. Cute place for sure with a diverse vegetarian menu. Highly recommend!
Z. Y. L.
Meals arrived very quickly considering how busy the venue was. The staff were friendly and the prices are reasonable - but I just have to say, the food was beyond average. It lacked flavour and love - I’m a little disappointed. My partner loved everything and he’s not vego - so it really depends on your palette. But for Melbourne, I’d just expect a little better quality. I respect Vegie Bar and the options they have to cater to sustainable and cruelty free lifestyles.
G. S.
Perfect Place to try some delicious and healthy food exclusively for Vegetarian Lovers. Variety of Cuisines , Incredible presentation and descent service makes it a one of the places worth to try.
K. S.
Fresh, good service sizes, fairly quick service considering how busy they were.
Two stars removed as the seating outside were impossible to get in and out of, and this really impacted the dining experience.
They have placed too many tables and bench seats, so you cannot move in and out without disturbing the people behind you and them trying to navigate to move their table and chair (rinse repeat this every time someone at your table or the table either side comes / goes / needs bathroom).
S. A.
Thoroughly enjoyed the dishes on the menu. Can't wait to try more of the dishes. Excellent that you can order and pay via QR code. Staff are very friendly too.
S. B.
Holly is the best manager ever. Looked after us really well and even after some complications with our order, Holly fixed us up nicely.
The Singapore noodles was a bit bland tho. It looked aesthetically nice but I also had to drench it with Siracha and Soy Sauce to get a kick of flavour from it.
S. L.
Amazing atmosphere, Great Food and Service. This was our 2nd visit.
I. P.
Delicious food and friendly table service. Highly recommend for a good meal and a place to catch up with friends and family.
J. M.
Very rarely do I give out a five star review, but this place has it: good food, good vibes and great customer service. Shout out to Austin for bringing the right kind of vibes to a waiter position.
Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger, I'll be back.
G.
Impeccable food - I have never had a bad experience eating here.
Staff are lovely and the vegan pizza and the desserts (from 'girls and boys' next door) are to die for!!
Everything is mostly ordered via QR code now but the staff were so lovely and understanding when my (basically ancient) iPhone wasn't working with this method of ordering/paying and allowed me to order and pay at the till instead.
S. T.
What could have been a horrible experience was completely altered by the thoughtful manager, Sabrina. While one of the dishes seemed a bit off and the restaurant couldn't give a refund, they gave us complimentary desserts which were absolutely fabulous and completely turned our meal and the entire experience around. Veggie bar remains the place to go whether you are vegan or not!
P. D.
Vegie bar is every vegan's dream eatery!
The restaurant has expanded over time and has still managed to maintain its vibe, food quality as well as the portion size.
We ordered the Red curry and the Burgernator. Both of them were delicious, the burger patty was smoky and tasted a lot like Beyond burger I have previously tried in Singapore. The cocktail was mixed well and tasted great!
Overall, if you are a vego and hunting for new cool places, Vegie bar should surely be on your bucket list.
k. c.
Delicious veggie food with a funky vibe in the heart of Fitzroy. Highly recommended if you're plant-based!
M. R.
I always wanted to come to this place because one of my friends recommended it to me. I had the opportunity to go this week and I ordered the Mexican burrito, letteraly I didn't miss the meat at all because it was so tasty, creamy and waa the perfect portion. Also, we had the sundae as the desert and it was out of this world.
M. O.
Unfortunately they got rid of our favourite pizza, the Verde we ordered regularly through lockdown. I just overheard someone else complaining about this and saying it was their favourite. Big shame. We still love eating here but on pizza night we are going to go elsewhere now.
C. C.
Great customer service. Sweet potato fries were average. Meatball spaghetti was amazing especially the spaghetti! Truffle mushroom pizza with artichoke was tasty. BBQ lovers pizza and burrito were average. Tacos were average too. It can be a hit or miss depending on what you order. Nevertheless, great place to bring nonvegan people to.
T. C.
The food speaks for itself, perfect.
The staff are so lovely & welcoming! My partner & I love it here, we’ll definitely be returning soon xx
s. g.
Such an amazing cool place to enjoy your foods. Foods are so delicous and fresh whereas they make juices which are so refreshing. Prices are good too. Would really recommend this place!!
v. c.
DELICIOUS food, great ambience and amazing staff, couldn’t recommend more! Order anything on the menu it’s all fantastic but the grilled Sr Lankan style corn is to die for!!!
L. F.
Ok, so possibly the nicest veggie pizza I've ever eaten! Great food, great vibe. Super efficient staff with food arriving very fast. Super fresh
N. L.
Had a delicious Mee Goreng . Big portion and very tasty. Expensive but worth it for occasional tasty meal. The people around me their food looked good too. Crazy busy place ; expect shared or bar seating during peak hours. Would definitely go back
G. M.
Went there for the first time last week with mates and absolutely loved the food here. If you're vegetarian/ vegan/ love meat you need to come here and give this place a go! Thanks guys for a good service too!
Although, I felt the food and drinks are a bit over priced compared to other similar places.
J. V.
I definitely usually eat meat with most meals, however, Vegie Bar was absolutely great. The food was super tasty and filling. The place has a great vibe to it, it fills up very quickly for the dinner service so get in quick (not sure if they take bookings). We ordered a couple of mains (one was the satay sauce with veges) and the sweet potato fries. The food arrives pretty quickly too. Good service from staff, definitely recommend checking this place out!
M. C.
Lovely night! The food was excellent; mushroom pizza with facon and olives was delicious, garlicky, and my bf said the burrito was buuritiful 😳😂 Really liked that vegan sour cream, too. Wow.
The guy that served us, should’ve asked his name... was charismatic and awesome. Thank you :)
I.
This is the perfect place for vegan & vegetarians! A very diverse and affordable menu.
Service is terrific, staff are very helpful and accomodating. This place is always packed. It’s best to book a table. There’s ample seats, inside, upstairs and even outside (there’s a bar outside).
The vegan nachos are too good to be true, i still can’t believe it’s all vegan. The pizza is a gluten free base, very nice and thin. My favourite off the entree menu is the samosa, the vegetable filling goes so well with the sauces.
Also if you are looking for vegan& vegetarian friendly desserts there’s Girls& Boys right next door.
S. B.
First vegi restaurant that I was so impressed and would like to revisit again. Nice atmosphere and great food. 5 stars or more!
N. F.
I’m not vegetarian. However despite this Vegie Bar is still one of my go to places in Fitzroy. The food is fantastic, the staff are friendly and the menu is diverse . They also make no attempt to substitute meat, but rather makes nice food where meat isn’t necessary.
S. I.
Great food. The place is pretty big with nice ambience. They also have good specials. There are a lot of options available to choose from in the menu and they are not very expensive as well. Wait time is regular.
A. S.
The vegetarian restaurant to hit up. Fresh ingredients lovingly prepared. Great coffee, great juices, service prompt and efficient. Can get busy at times. Set with a rustic decor this enjoyable, laid back restaurant is worth a look. Don't be that guy and come to a vegetarian restaurant and complain there is no meat!
M. A.
Loved the food, the vibes, the location.
They offer a great variety of food. The place is huge. We arrived relatively early and the main seating site was close to packed. We were seated straight away.
The staff were lovely with great customer service skills.
Food was delivered within an acceptable time frame considering how busy the place was. And the quality of food did not disappoint.
Would definitely go back.
S. B.
WOW!!
I am not vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination but the food here is AMAZING. Very friendly staff! My wife is taking her work colleges next week!!!
D. T.
Vegie Bar is the crown jewel of residents in Fitzroy. All their meals come looking like they were made with love, passion and dedication. The ingredients are always incredibly fresh and beautiful prepared. Meals are incredibly healthy (though a little pricey). The vibe of the place is very 'cool' and hipster, I always feel underdressed. Check it out, the Buddha Bowl is a winner!
L. S.
All of the waitress were nice, the food was amazing, and the place is beautiful. I definitely recommend.
T. K.
Better with age! This is my 2nd or 3rd visit in five years. It has an improved menu, similar layout but seems to have improved as well. This place is always busy, so best to book to avoid disappointment. It’s heartwarming to see them have 99% vegan 🌱 dishes. Our food was delicious and service was fantastic.👍🏼😎
E. K.
Very popular vegetarian restaurant in Fitzroy. Always packed although the place itself is huge! We ordered the soba bowl and poke bowl with the buffalo cauliflowers. The ingredients are balanced perfectly giving you a fresh flavours and healthy taste. They also have courtyard which sits exactly behind the gelato bar next door which is their sister shop.

Great atmosphere, lighting and ordering system. Efficient and friendly staff. Perfect food fun smoothies
T. S.
The waitress we had at Vegie Bar tonight was one of the loveliest waitresses I've ever encountered - kind, genuine and positive.
V. M.
so yummy!!. I'm not vegetarian and really enjoyed the food. The service is great as well. Good for groups but is always busy. Consider booking and arriving on time.

Popular vegan restaurant in Fitzroy that offers a wide range of vegetarian dishes (btw, very VERY busy!) I tried their Moroccan Tajine and it tasted so goood. Rich flavour and a huge portion. Original Stirfry was also delicious with fresh vegetables and tofus :)
D. u.
Loved the good vibes here. Delicious vegetarian and vegan options.
Foods delicious and little things that matter most are valued here. Such as using paper straws and being sustainable is best possible ways.
J. D. B.
Great environment. Fantastic food, yummy good size serving. Friendly, helpful service, good prices.
V. S.
Amazing restaurant and very innovative Vegetarian/vegan menu. Great service. There might be a line but definitely worth the wait. Must've try the mushroom pizza!!!
I. H.
Divine food and cocktails 🙌🏽 great selection of GF eats too! Burrito was divine and the ice cream bars were huge and out of this world!
L. W.
I can't believe I have never reviewed Vege Bar, having visited many many times. The food is always excellent and the portions are generous. It does get busy (and noisy) at peak times but there is good reason for this. It's wildly popular because it is good. The Mostly Greens with tempeh and Super Food Bowl with falafel are pictured. The greens have been a long running menu item. The bowl is newer. Both are even tastier than they look.
N. M.
One of my best food experiences in Melbourne. Fitzroy is such a charming part of the city and The Vegie Bar contributes to make it special. I used to go there with my friends every now and then for brunch or a light lunch. The recipes are original and ALL VEGETARIAN. This is a must stop!
J. H.
For a vegan restaurant, we found the food was extremely flavorful and a little rich on the seasonings for our liking. We ordered a stir fry veggies that almost tasted too savory for vegan place. Burgers were served in regular bread buns that felt a little short . Overall foods ok, a little high on the pricing.
J. '. D.
Fantastic place. Half of my group are vegetarian so we were looking for a place for everyone and even the meat-eaters were super impressed. All the tofu substitutes had great and believable flavour and texture. Burger was certainly better than a big mac. Sliders were dope. All servings were very generous. Tempranillo was lovely. Big props to Anaise for sweet service ✌🏻
N. D.
When the same friends that take you out to Mercer’s say that you need to visit another place, you listen. And to top it off, it also highlighted my own meat consumption and how I take it for granted. And an unintended, eye-opening lesson is worth looking into.
Located on the famous Brunswick Street, the first thing you will need to contend with is parking. Go in as early as possible, because if you do happen to get caught up with a local festival, expect a 30 minute hunt for a good spot. Then make sure you pin the location so you can know where to come back to after the meal. On the inside, the venue was quite rustic and unique. They made good use of a multitude of spaces – there was an upstairs loft, a bar for the waiting section and then two main dining areas. And if you aren’t there with your entire party, they put you on a waiting list and ask you to step aside until they all arrive to seat you. Which is a good and a bad thing. Good – because you don’t have to wait too long. Bad because, if your eating partners are late, then you could waste a fair amount of time having a liquid lunch.
For entrees we did: Samosa (A traditional Indian pastry filled with mild vegetable curry, served with tzatziki and fresh chilli sauce) and Gyoza (Japanese-style mushroom, tofu and mixed veggie steamed dumplings, served with our special dipping sauce.) I have it on good authority that the Gyoza was good.
My samosa was good – nothing to rave about and the chilli wasn’t all that hot. A little letdown, but that’s ok.
For Mains we did: Mee Goreng (A classic Malaysian inspired disk of hokkien noodles wok-tossed with mixed vegies, tofu and sauteed potato in a lightly spiced peanut sauce.), Moroccan Stew (A rich tomato and chickpea stew with roasted eggplant, currant and almond cous cous, tzatziki, marinated cucumber salad, hazelnut dukkah and fresh parsley. Served with warm yogurt and pita bread.) and the delicious Mexican Burrito (Tortilla based wrapped around refried kidney beans, spinach, onion and mushroom, topped with melted cheese and fresh chilli sauce. Served on brown rice with sour cream and guacamole.)
The Verdict on the Mee Goreng: filling and delicious – this is something that was done with a lot of bean shoots. And the sauce was amazing.
The Verdict on the Moroccan Stew: Well my good friend was quiet during the entire meal. That’s enough said.
My verdict on the Mexican Burrito? Holy Moly, go in with an appetite. This thing was monstrous and in the right way. The brown rice was a great filler and the guacamole sealed the deal! On a scale of 1 – 5, it rated a 10. The flavours were well balanced but I was not prepared for the size of the meal.
We also did sweet potato chips, which, if I am being honest was ok. I know my dining partners loved it, but I wasn’t too sold on it.
B. D.
Excellent food, everything was delicious. I'm actually a meat eater, and I definitely didn't feel like I was missing anything or needed any. Service was great, fast, friendly and attentive. They don't take bookings so be prepared you might not sit in the best spot of may have to wait for a table. Can thoroughly recommend the Moroccan Tajine.
a. p.
The food here is a little pricey but very tasty. Can get busy so it's more of a communal space rather than an intimate one. Come here if you want vegan food that is presented like fine dining for less than what you'd pay at a fancy restaurant. Also, order the Moroccan tajine, you won't be disappointed! Pictured is the 'fish' taco, gnocchi with veg and the tajine. All really great, the texture of the 'fish' was impressive! Gnocchi was fresh and well made. the flavours in that tajine though, would knock your socks off on a cold winter's day. Or any day really.
S. S.
Love this place and as a vegan I really appreciate the large menu and countless options.
Trendy industrial-like interior.
Pretty poppin atmosphere on a weeknight but very noisy so we sat outside.
I had the Zinger burger but would not recommend it as it's just a slab of plain tofu covered in flavourless crumbs. The onion rings were also too oily.
Really great customer service and didn't have to wait more than 10 min for our meal.
K. A.
Incredible food, very skilled wait staff who are obviously used to dealing with high volume. But in our group of 3 omnis and one vegan, everyone absolutely loved everything. We ordered the arancini for entree, despite thinking the satay sauce might be a weird combination - turned out to be absolutely sublime. Then shared cauliflower bowl and the tofu wrap, along with some delicious sweet potato fries. Highlight was probably the tofu lettuce wrap entree - incredible flavours and so light.
Z. W.
my favourite place to eat! Can't get over how everything on the menu looks delicious and knowing I'm sweet to choose anything on the menu as a vegan is a crazy feeling.
A. C.
I'm no vegetarian but the food here is delicious and serving sizes are generous. The decor is nice and and staff are very friendly. Even if you're not a vegetarian I definitely recommend trying this restaurant.
G. H.
Tasty vegan food! Our family of 4 loved everything ordered from samosa to fried rice with vegies, (sauces were soooo good!!), pizza & the earth burger! Couldn't contain my excitement for the vegan tiramisu (finally found one & it was amazing!), the chocolate Royale cake was rich & delicious as was the chocolate sundae! What a great idea to stock their products next door so we can take home more of what we had/didn't try...we will be back!!! Thank you!
A. S.
We absolutely love Vegie Bar, so many delicious menu options to choose from. Today we had the 'better than big mac' and the gnocchi. Better than big Mac looks exactly like a big Mac but of course vegan and was quite tasty. Gnocchi was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be coming back.
H. H.
Fantastic vegetarian food! Very easy-to-use online ordering system. One of the staff spent some time kindly and patiently helping us choose and recommending popular options. I had the coffee and liked it. We had a great time, sitting at in a room at the back of the restaurant which had a good atmosphere and I'd probably choose it over the packed main seating area.
J. B.
Great place for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free food. Reasonably priced for the serving size. The burrito and stir fry are staples but they have removed the stuffed mushrooms from the menu.
a. r.
I was really sceptical about this place as I wanted to have a meaty meal however this place was awesome. I had the burrito and my friend had the burger. Amazing. The cocktails are awesome too
C. H.
Good atmosphere with a large variety of good quality food.
M. C.
Nice environment and super tasty food.
Love the backyard!
C.
Phenomenal, mouth watering food. Can be enjoyed so much by all, hard to believe it’s vegan. My favourite restaurant. Can’t fault it.
L.
Very good selection of vegetarian food! Loved how it was dishes from around the world! Quick service, very big place, however does fill up and I would recommend a reservation if going later at night/Friday/weekends or are a large group!
S.
I'm far from a vegetarian or vegan but The Vegie Bar sure has a way with vegetables...so good that I didn't even miss meat! Every time I've stopped in here I haven't been disappointed. Wide menu selection. Good portioned meals and flavors are well baleneced and creative.
T. S.
Exciting yet ambient.
Vegie Bar has done a great job at creating a nice energy in the room with upbeat BGM and a busyness about the place that will sweep you and carry you through wonderful meals.
Lots of GF options for those looking as well 😉👍
Be prepared to bring some dollars too, but you'll be glad to see them gone once you've had your fill
T. P.
I have not visited the Veggie Bar in years as I was overseas, what a classic establishment. The service was superb and the staff were so helpful and friendly. I loved all the food and it is hard to choose what to eat! As a vegetarian this is the perfect place for all your veggie desires complete with cocktails - absolutely the BEST. I missed this place so much!!
J. K.
Have been here twice while in Melbourne.
Yes, famous and crowded = loud place, but the food is fantastic, comes very quick and very friendly service! And you can sit outside in the back as well. Enjoy your meal!
J. K.
Yum! Went here with some friends and everyone enjoyed their meal thoroughly. If I lived closer, I'd be here regularly.
Staff were super nice and professional!
M. M.
Been coming here for decades and still to this day haven’t had a single bad experience, I wanna eat everything on the menu but not enough room in my belly ;) Lunch today was perfect plus went for dinner not long after and it was 👌
M. M. L.
Amazing menu with literally everything you can ask for. From pizza till noodles and even dhals! Also the desserts looked amazing. Servings are massive.
J. Z. T.
Overall, the ambience of the place was really nice and this restaurant was not that hard to find. I loved that it had a clean washroom as it is hard to come by. Besides that, the burger was a little dry and chips weren’t crisp. Friend’s food was better and portion was quite big. Recommend to try their matcha tea! If you like to try something new, their ginger chai latte might give you a good kick.
S. G.
My friends and I celebrated our birthdays and we received ❤ great food's as we are vegetarian and the services was fantastic and great.
S. B.
Incredible 10/10 customer service. Food is sooo good, best vegetarian meal I've had in a long time.
G. C.
Good food. They are trying too hard with the "meat" & " bacon" stuff. Unnecessary as the name says it all and the food is good and well priced.
C.
Food never disappoints, servings are generous and packed with flavour. However, been a few times staff have been rude and inattentive.
P. Z.
Very very tasty defo not Missing any meat
Can only recommend. Fair priced too and several options to choose from
The chimichangas were especially amazing!!!
A. B.
Love the fully vegan menu and the ambience! We ordered the Shiitake Bao, Rack of Broccolini, Yaki Udon and the Rendang Curry. All of them were absolutely delicious and came in large portions; definitely had a food baby by the end!
M. V. D.
Wait staff awesome and attentive. Food was some of the best vegan food we've had. We really like the industrial-style interior design. So many options for drinks and food. A must for Fitzroy.
J. &. F. K.
Veggie Bar is an all-vegan food full of attitude and taste. The place is regularly busy but he service is very competente and fast able to cope with the demand. The food is DELICIOUS!! We are come here regularly and are specially fond of the Laksa and burgers. There is no way to make a mistake with this menu -- the pizzas are not that impressive, though. If you are vegetarian and live in Melbourne, this is a place to get to know. If you re a visitor, it is definitively worth the visit an experience.
A. W.
Always a good variety. Service we had tonight was really friendly.
M. G.
I have been here so many times and have never once been disappointed! From their main dishes to desserts to the drinks everything has consistently been spectacular! There are so many delicious vegan options and almost too many to choose from! There are also heaps of desserts. There are also raw vegan options here too! They have great turmeric lattes and even better cocktails! If you are just visiting Melbourne or you live there I definitely recommend making some time on your schedule for vegie bar!
C. H. (.
I arrived at 6:30pm and waitlisted for a table of six. There was a cancellation so I was able to be seated early which was good. Plenty of options to choose from on the menu and the staff were nice enough to sing happy birthday. Kind of annoying they don't split the bill but oh well.
E. C.
Amazing atmosphere and vegan food 🍲
L.
Consistently tasty food, no matter you order. Great place for takeaway or dine in
R. R.
Great food. Extremely filling. Terrific funky atmosphere with pleasant staff. Highly recommended.
A. J.
Such a fun place to go with friends and family and if you vegan, it's an awesome restaurant with great variety!

First time at a vegetarian/vegan establishment. Was highly impressed, well presented food, tasty, good friendly staff, low wait time and with appropriate pricing.. Will definitely come back despite the fact I'm not actually a vegetarian or vegan. Ordered the Buddha bowl and a nutura bomb. 5/5
O. F.
Amazing amazing place! Definitely one of 'those' hip restaurants in Melbourne in one of 'those' hip suburbs like Fitzroy. It's no doubt a buzzing restaurant as I've never been there before where you get a seat immediately. Service was a little slow but is understandable. Amazing food (suss out the pizzas!)

Finally I got a chance to visit Vegie bar. I love the good vibe in the restaurant, young and fresh people, staff and customers. I ordered buddha bowl. It tasted great, the tofu was so delicious with lots of fresh vegetables, mushrooms, sprouts and quinoa. My partner ordered Vegan Pad Se Ew, it taste yummy too. I will definitely come back to try some more food.
N.
Always love to go to Vegie Bar. Tofu burger and digestive drinks are a must try.
S. M.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Maybe make a reservation as it does get busy but worth it. I celebrated my birthday here and they were super accommodating
e. p.
What a great go-to for vegan food! Although the restaurant is vegetarian, everything on the menu at the time I am posting this is vegan. Plenty of GF options too! The best part about this place is the menu! It is so varied! You can get curries to burgers to stir fries to nachos! The Dahl is divine (pictured) and you can get some healthy sides like tofu and steamed veges, although they are not on the menu (pictured). The atmosphere is cool, funky and chill some evenings and buzzing with energy and life on others. Very cool decor and good service ☺️
A. M.
In incredible experience at veggie bar, this place is an institution for amazing vegan and vegetarian food. Very slick operation, great staff, kitchen runs smoothly and as always a great experience. I don't give many 5 stars out but this place deserves it.
H. F.
Food was just ok, not that impressive as I've been told. The mushroom burger I had was too dry, should've had sauce in it. Burgers should never be dry. No sauce served with chips too. Tried Matcha latte which was also just ok, costs $8, you'd expect it to be an exceptional coffee. Definitely a bit overpriced. Would not go back.
S.
Amazing vegan and vegetarian food with table service, although the staff were a bit hard to get their attention, I thought it wasn't table service at first so went to the counter, then they came over.. Highly recommend their mango lassi and the laksa was also good. A bit on the expensive side, but worth it for the large portions.
S. M.
This place was great! My friend wanted to try it and we're stoked we did. The food was generous, delicious, creative and colourful. We had trouble choosing.
I got the Poke Bowl with watermelon replacing raw tuna cubes, and it was fantastic. My friend got the vegan gnocchi which was creamy and looked like a fancy gnocchi dish you'd get at a much stiffer joint. Her Nutribomb smoothie was delicious too - not too sweet and with complex flavours (which sounds really wanky but you could really taste different flavours over your tongue as you sipped it). I had a really fragrant Buddha's tears green/jasmine tea that in a pleasingly large mug (hate having to ask for hot water top ups over and over!).
The atmosphere was great - families and friends and couples all cheerfully sharing the big, industrial space. The staff were friendly and attentive, and - one of the things I look for - all seemed to genuinely like and enjoy working with each other. The space is very casual and 'canteen' like. We really loved it and would go again.

Omg... by far best Vegan meal I ever had it tasted sooooo so good staff are super nice no wait time amazing atmosphere will definitely go back and recommend it to all my friends thank you . Photo of one of my meals laksa wish had the tufo tempura slider that tasted like heaven

Probably my current fave place in Melb. Food was great(I wish I was hungry enough to eat more this day), price was good and service was good.
Will be returning next time I’m visiting Melb.
j. m.
Delicious vegan food. Don't recommend ordering appetisers since they're bad value for the money, but the mains are well priced and very filling.
C. G.
Great place with good staff great food. With a mixed crowd from couples, singles and family's. Sharing table allows for people to communicate and it works well here. Its a place you need to come back to try all items on the menu.
H. M.
Delicious meal!! I had the mushroom burger with onion rings. I originally ordered sweet potato fries, but they were out. It wasn't a problem for me though because I had been debating between them and the onion rings. The onion rings certainly were not a disappointment! Very light and flavorful, not too greasy like they can sometimes be. One thing that I did find odd was that they don't allow for leftover food to be taken home. That seems entirely wasteful and absurd to not allow someone to take food they paid for home if they are unable to finish it. This wasn't a problem for me (seeing as I went after finishing a half marathon), but it still struck me as odd.

Nestled in the trendy inner northern suburbs, Vegie Bar awates to give any vegan or anyone for that matter, a taste of delectable plant based food. I visited with my vegan sister and was pleasantly surprised to see a menu full of delicious food that I didn't realise could be vegan and still taste the same as or even better than the original dish it aimed to be. It Helped me understand more that anything can be made vegan with substiutes so one can enjoy more plant based meals without being disappointed. I had the Moroccan tajine dish with an immunity juice. Had wide range of cuisine and meal types. Definitely a place to be on a Saturday arvo.
J. S.
Such good vegetarian and vegan food! Great vibe.
G. D. C. J.
When I lived in Clifton Hill, I used to go all the time, 15 years later is even better. Never disappoints 😋😋
P. D.
Nice food in a casual setting
S. B.
So many options to choose from and all so delicious sounding that it was difficult to choose. We had several different items that were all delicious.
J. G.
Must visit. Simple as that. Pizza was amazing (gluten free base that you wouldn't believe is gluten free). But the Moroccan tajine was winner on the night!
J. W.
Probably the best vegetarian meal I've ever had at a restaurant. Cool place, great menu with fair prices.
S. A.
Superb, vibrant atmosphere. Great, multi cuisine food, brilliant cocktails.
A. Q.
Mouth-wateringly delicious. Blown away by the creativity of the chefs. Friendly, prompt service too. High five to you all 🤙🏼 #LetsGuide #Veganlicious #Vegan
J. B.
Great vegan food, so much to choose from! Service was fast initially, but then a bit slow.
J. (.
I'm not a vegetarian/vegan and had the food hit the table and no one told me, I wouldn't have known otherwise. It's delicious. It's comparatively healthy. It's affordable. It's local. Nice outdoor space as well.
M. F.
The only bad point is I came with a passive aggressive vegan. Other than that I love the food. This is my second and I wouldn't mind coming back.
M. B.
The place is lovely! Had heard about a long waiting time, but we only had to wait abou 20 minutes and just stayed at the bar, which is pretty cool! The menu is the kind that makes you want to order everything! Had the burrito and it was very good, and the portions where very well served!
T. O.
Outrageously good menu. I had the big mac burger, 100% vegan and wowweee. The sweet potato chips are fantastic but i wish they offered them with more of their burgers!
T. K.
One of the greatest businesses I know, a never ending parade of people coming and going through the great glass and steel door onto Brunswick Street. Incredible vegetarian food, massive serves and reasonable prices. A formula that has worked for decades, ka ching!
M. L.
Best vegetarian restaurant in Melbourne.
Since 25 years a go they always are busy and most people are happy with the food.
M. T.
Got uberEats from here. Both the morroccan tagine and samosas were good. The portions are MASSIVE
B. “.
Nice varied Vegan menu that even meat eats will enjoy. Service and ambiance are appreciated as well.
Pictured is the Chana Dahl.
T.
Used to be awesome, really elaborate and unique menu and lovely people to speak to working there. Noe you have a socially isolated experience and no waiter interaction, you need to order using a we code that take 4 times as long and register to order! Menus was super short, nothing you couldn’t buy elsewhere.
A. G.
We had a great lunch and while a little confronting at first, we managed to get through the QR coding system to place our orders without any problem. The food was delicious with generous servings, the atmosphere very pleasant, and the staff super friendly.
L. I.
The food was delicious!!! Customer service could be better.
R.
Love this place. The Chasing Magic Dragon smoothie is soooooo good.
K. M.
Great atmosphere and good quality food. Friendly staff and fast service. Nice coffee and menu had a wide range of options catering to gluten free, vegetarian and vegan eaters.
J. M.
Everytime I visit Melbourne I'm impressed by veggie bar. Great many, delicous fresh food, staff are always friendly, patient and accommodating. Love this place!
S.
Second time I've eaten here and neither time disappointed me! I'm finding myself quite bored of vegan comfort foods, it's the same in every restaurant...and then I come here and it's like I've entered a new vegan comfort food dimension! Such different flavours, so much more depth & spice and it feels like the food is made with love. Thanks for existing🥰
G. M.
Top food and flavours! Great atmosphere. Perfect background music. Simply delicious. Will become a favourite.
A. s.
Amazing energy and vibe. Food was clean and yummy. Nothing was left on our plates... And the desserts alllll Absolutely to die for!
P. H.
Absolutely love this place—extraordinary services. Fantastic food. Nothing wrong to say that I love bacon here. BBQ Pizza was a bomb, flavourful, slightly spicy, salty and sweet, so I could manage to finish my half shared with a friend easily.
G. D.
Fantastic Mee Goreng. Very busy with an excellent atmosphere.
s. k.
I never miss visiting this place whenever I am in Melbourne.Must have visited more than 10 times and would love to say this place never disappoints. If u are vegetarian its a must must visit, and even if you are not, still just try their awesome food and dessert with gr8 ambience and you will start loving the vegetarian food.
M. (.
Good vegan food in a not so vegan environment.. :) love the atmosphere here. Love spaghetti meat ball and dandelion latte.
T. K.
The food is good as always, but they're using QR codes for ordering. Although it was probably brought in for covid, lots of other places have dropped it now and it really dents the experience keeping it in place, unlikely to go back until I hear it's changed. Happy to change my review when it's removed.
D. C.
We came here looking for raw food dishes, there was only raw tacos or a raw carrot cake. Loads of veggie vegan gluten free options, definitely worth checking out.
H. V.
I love the vibes there. Very friendly staff however not sure the food there is that amazing. Maybe just not my cup of tea.
K. W.
Amazing vegan doner kebab and Berry cheese cake. Wouldn't recommend the coffee though- better places in melbourne. A nice solo place to hang out for a couple of hours. Can connect to Lord of the flies wifi :)
C. S.
Good food and drinks, and the aesthetic of this place is super cool.
T. P.
Best Hawaiian BBQ pizza I’ve ever had (meat options included).
v. V.
Great food. Good options for vegetarian.
A. E.
Some friends arrived before us and ended up waiting an hour. Front of line but because their system wasn’t working and we didn’t have cash, other groups went in before us, which was annoying.
Friends got cash, but predictably as soon as we finally got a table their system was working again.
Annoyed to find out that you have to order through qr code. qr codes never seem to load for me, I had to use my friends phone. Also irritating if like our group, all our phones were on low battery. I think as an addition it’s convenient, but to expect people to order on their phones is unfair.
I ordered one of the noodle dishes, mainly because it said it had oyster and shiitake mushrooms. It was tasty, but my meal only had two small pieces of mushrooms, which I wasn’t very impressed by, especially given that generally when an ingredient is listed first under a menu item, you expect it to have a key role in the dish.
For the most part everyone at the table enjoyed their meals (except for the one who ordered the Parma, which looked very sad with a square lump of cheese on a dry looking schnitzel), and the drinks were nice.
However because of the wait and the QR coding system, I’m happy with the one experience.
k. p.
Lovely service and delicious food.. we booked table for 30 of us and they accommodated very well.. honest opinions and recommendations from staff and very timely service with such as short staff situation is commendable.. will definitely come back,,
T. K.
I love this place so much, the food is delicious, my favourite is the Mee Goreng.
T. M.
Great vegan and vegetarian food, and an awesome vibe.
B. S.
Great place with nice mood, and the food.. delicious 😋
K. M.
Holly really looked after us. Super sweet and accomodating
M. W.
Great place to get vegan and GF food. I am not a vegan and loved it and wish I could have tried everything on the menu!
M. W.
Go with the flow// and you will indeed be a happy little Vegan 🌱🧘🏻♂️
B. T.
I had the cauliflower side dish and the sauerkraut shot. I really enjoyed both and the staff who served us was very friendly.
N. V.
The food was great! We couldn't decide what to get cuz everything looked so good 😍 will definitely be back 👌🏽
N. T.
Excellent vegetarian food. Great ambience
J. C.
Great space, friendly staff and a delicious selection to choose from their decent sized menu. Will be back again!
Wasn't too crowded for a Monday and consideration to the covid spacing rules in place might be worth booking a table if a weekend.
B. K.
Excellent place for a Vegetarian / Vegan experience in Melbourne. The food is mouth wateringly delicious and a combination of Mexican, Japanese ,International and Indian cuisine. The desserts like Tiramisu is a must try...staff and Hospitality is 5 star and amazing.
N. x.
Food is amazing but I miss the fact that there is no waiter service. I understand with covid that we have gone through a phase where barcode scanning is a thing but I don't think this should a practice that continues onto hospitality. When you go to a restaurant part of the service is being served food but that social interaction has slightly gone now. I give them 4 stars still because their menu has improved alot and there's alot of amazing yummy vegan options on the menu but the extra star is lost because I think they should give their customers a choice if they want to order through the barcode or order through a waiter.
B. H.
Vegie Bar is a decent dietary-friendly restaurant which is a good option if you don't mind spending a bit of money for a small meal.
I've been here a few times and have always walked away happy. I have visited with a large group so we just ordered all of the pizzas. They were all very yummy, with the BBQ flavour being the crowd favourite.
In terms of interior design, it's REALLY nice! If you get the chance, sit upstairs so you can look over the rest of the restaurant. It's a pretty cool space that provides a great atmosphere. Plus, its a mega-sized space so if you've got a few people with you, you'll be able to eat comfortably.
From a budget-conscious perspective, it really isn't that affordable. Seldom would I come back *if at all* due to the price of the meals in relation to what you get *which is not a lot* ESPECIALLY when you consider how many other amazing vegan restaurants in the same strip in Fitzroy that are a lot cheaper & more interesting.
M. “. C.
The food is awesome. My fav is the Daal👌🏼 great place to catch up with friends as it has a bit of everything
N. S.
Have been here many times over the years and is an institution of Melbourne. Vegetarians and vegans should not miss this place. The menu is also very worldly and delicious. Always very happening and sometimes you will have to wait for 10 mind or so, but worth it. Their desserts are also amazing. Recently I did notice some changes but still love this place!
D. C.
If i had ready access to the always delicious array of vegetarian food here, I'd quite happily be a vegetarian. Always top quality, good range, good service. Not inexpensive but good value.
S. M.
Staff are helpful and the portions are enormous. You definitely pay for how much you get (tofu burger pretty small tho) otherwise their food is amazing and sharing a meal with someone will have you full.
M. J.
Amazing spaghetti and meatballs! Thank you for the recommendation, will definitely be back 😊
L. R.
Excellent food, large portion plus extras if you want, staff will explain. Laid back no rush meal in the middle of the city. Brilliant. Desert is nice too. Easy to find once you know where it is, worth the time hunting for it in my opinion!
G. C.
Very confusing, cannot work out what this food is made from. Tastes ok though
T. B.
Beautiful place, interesting food and decent prices
S. B.
the food is great but the Loud obnoxious music has stopped me going there
R. G.
Amazing healthy plant based food and excellent service. A must in Fitzroy
D. G.
I do like this place. The meals are consistent, the staff is friendly and the vibe is chill. It DOES get noisy though. Large meals for good prices and tasty.. however you’re not allowed to doggy bag and the options for fructose friendly meals are like.. 2. I get the hemp gnocchi whenever I go even though I shouldn’t.. because it’s just so delicious.
C. L.
Pretty good food. Super fast service. Had to ask for water which was a bit annoying.
Q. M.
The Best Food & Smoothies in Melbourne. Iconic.
M. G.
The best burger I ever had. Cant forget the taste. The ambience was too good and modern. Lot of options for vegeterians which is less likely.
C. I.
I’m not vegetarian or vegan or GF but anybody would enjoy eating here. I had the mushroom burger with onion rings. It was a lot of food but I was determined to finish every bite because it was so delicious. Our service was great. We were here on a weekday afternoon. Great atmosphere too.
C. X.
This place is absolutely fantastic for brunch, but I didn’t love it for dinner the one time that I went. The laksa my friend got looked incredible but the stir fry I got was quite bland. Nevertheless amazing vibe for a restaurant, always cool magazines / newspapers featuring local stuff laying around. Would recommend!
n. j.
A fun range of vege options for those looking for that. But most flavours are very safe and conservative. Disappointed with the "mee goreng", the noodles were overly soft and starchy, as if oversoaked? Excellent peanut flavour, but this should be labelled as a "peanut noodle" dish, not Mee Goreng. It is nothing like Mee Goreng. Very little chilli or spice in anything. Very safe. However, its got huge seating capacity, a friendly team, and the ordering online system is great. But for $22 per dish, I believe things could be turned up several notches.
O.
Amazing food. The lemon tart was sensational. Thanks team.
J. F.
Great food! Vegan and Gluten free choices, all looked delicious. I had a gluten free pizza, it was stacked with toppings and tasted amazing, they are not stingy. Don't make the mistake I did and accidentally go to the take away shop! Ordered food and then realised there was a proper restaurant next door.
M. H.
Very tasty vegetarian food, generous servings vibrant ambiance in a busy, convenient part of Brunswick St Fitzroy. Trends to be busy almost all the time but not bad in mid afternoon after say, 2pm. The staff are polite and often friendly depending on stress levels. The meals are nevertheless quick to arrive. You will be required to sit where you're told as they won't seat 2 people on a 3 seat table. Ever. It can also get very noisy especially if they have the music up. Some people enjoy that. I don't. That said, I doubt there's a vegetarian in Melbourne who hasn't tried thus place. And worst case... There are LOTS of other eating places and bars literally paces away. You'll never go hungry in Brunswick St Fitzroy.
h. b.
It was a very good lunch. The mushroom pizza was the highlight of the meal and sweet potato fries were a close second. Portion sizes were quite generous. The only thing missing was a spicy punch that my Indian palate is used to, but the flavours made up for that.
L. R.
Have no fear, whether you eat meat or not, the food is deliciously out of this world. Shout out to the staff. Great food and very friendly and attentive staff. The corn starter is sensational. Will come again.
S. G.
Great choice of vegetarian food. I've been here a few times and usually enjoy the food, atmosphere and service. Last time though neither of us enjoyed our food very much. The nachos were super salty and the laksa was too rich to the point that my hubby - who basically never leaves his plate/bowl empty - could not finish it. Nobody asked how our meal was either and my rule is if they don't ask, I won't give the feedback directly.
K. L.
Great place, I will definitely be back!
E. T.
Wanted to try a nice vegan lunch with my cousin, and that we did! We happened to find Vegie Bar and were absolutely amazed by the friendly and fast service and not to mention, the amazing food! Great portions, tasty meals and all for a good price! Plus the atmosphere is great. We'll definitely be frequent customers at the Vegie Bar for sure! :) Would recommend this lovely little restaurant to anyone.
H. J.
Had soba noodle salad and margerita pizza. Was quite nice vegetarian restaurant.
E. S. L.
one of the best places to go if you're vegan! the menu has so many different options and full of so much yumminess! and there's vegan ice cream next door 🤤
J. H.
This place is always packed and for good reason. Speaking as someone who eats meat, I often thought that food without meat lacked flavour and creativity, but this place proved me wrong big time. I've eaten here many times and I try to order something different every time I go. I've never ordered anything thinking "I wish I got the same thing I got last time instead of this". Everything has so much flavour and with such a broad range items to chose from the menu is quite impressive. Service is good and staff are friendly, although there can be a bit of a wait in peak periods.
B.
Used to be excellent, recently the food has gone down quite a bit and it feels like a lot has changed, maybe from a change of management. We went with a group and the food all arrived lukewarm or cold, including soups and pizza which are good warm. The dishes changed too, the nachos are now deconstructed ingredients and corn chips which aren't as nice, overall flavours aren't as stellar and a little less exciting. Still good for vegetarian or vegan food but just a shame to see it less than what it was until so recently the last few visits.
T. M.
We drive 40 mins purely to cure our craving for vegan chocolate cake that DEFINITELY doesn't taste like vegan chocolate cake. Hits the spot every time so much so we order a whole cake for special occasions. Best.
C. B.
Deservedly busy place with a varied, interesting menu and good service. Can be a bit noisy but I guess it adds to the atmosphere. Whilst the food was very good, I was a bit disappointed that I had to search long and hard for the promised king oyster mushroom in the pad see ew (two slivers hidden under a spinach leaf apparently is enough 🙄).
P. T.
I'm not a vegetarian but the food is really good. There was a good queue when we arrived but they are well set up to work with the influx of people. The food came pretty quickly after ordering which was a surprise because the place was full. It was very fresh. Samosas are really good.
R. S.
We ordered the gnocchi and it was great! The pizza was also fine but the gluten free dough wasn’t that great.
For dessert we ordered brownies and that was amazing!
Overall we had a lovely dinner.
S. H.
Amazing food! Absolutely loved every bite and so did everyone else at the table. Recommend 10/10. Lovely service, friendly atmosphere
D. M.
Always great food and nice atmosphere. Over the years, it's gone a little downhill with wackier trends (alkaline water, activated almonds etc), smaller portions and higher prices. Still a very worthwhile trip for anyone looking for great vegetarian/vegan food, but could be, and has been better. Choose anything off the menu, it all tastes great!
s.
Good venue with good value for money meals. Would of given 5 stars but consistence on the meals I have gotten recently has been a little hit and miss, especially the burrito. Will be back for sure though. Ginger tonic is an all time favourite.
C. L.
Great service, great food, great people 😊
P. S.
My all time favourite place! No matter what you order, pizzas, buritto or burgers everything is amazing and so fresh! Love this place, wish they open more branches in south East too
C. M.
After all these years, the stir fry with satay is still the best. I don't know how they do it, but even the accompanying plain rice is the most delish rice I've ever tasted.
Q.
Not bad, not great. The floor staff can be a bit blunt. Pizza was tasty but base soggy. Laska plain and uninspired compared to the versions you get overseas. However the dishes others near us had looked great. Will give it one more shot.
J. V. (.
The vegan mains are generously portioned and so damn delicious!!! The steep prices are easily justified by the quality, variety and size of the meal.
They don’t allow restaurant diners to take home leftovers, so you’ll have to bring your own take-home container and smuggle the food out carefully without being sighted by management (not joking!).
I wish *every* option on the menu could be made vegan, but oddly some are not (for example, the Korean mushrooms don’t have a vegan mayonnaise alternative?).
J. B.
This place was great! My partner wanted to try a new vego place and although intimidating at first by the hipster vibe - it’s definitely something worth trying.
We got the burrito and the gnocchi, both delicious and divine! Will be coming back again (:
J.
Great food. Friendly staff
L. A.
The food and drinks here are excellent. My sister is vegan and for her birthday the family went here, and it was a great choice; even my die-hard meat eating Dad loved it. Some options can be pricey, but for groups with varied dietary requirements/preferences, it's a winner.
T. C.
First time at a veggie place and was really surprised. Great atmosphere and great food. The only thing not helping is the lack of Apple Pay with the mobile ordering system.
T. Z.
Great big servings of 100% vegetarian food at a reasonable price. The place is always humming with people so expect to wait a bit on busy nights. There is a cool little bar and beer garden out back where you can wait for a table to free up while sipping on a drink.
All the meals are quite large and filling. They cater to all types. I would never go here for a nice little meal because the meals are HUGE! Love this place
J. S.
An vegetarian institution. Cool vibe, tasty food.
Ordering is all done via QR code at the moment due to Covid (as at 1/4/2021), so if you're going for table service, don't expect too much.
R. M.
The vibe and atmosphere is amazing but actual taste of food is average. They need to work on improving taste with all the vegetarian and vegan competition now.
S.
Had such a tasty lunch here. I ordered the Mee Goreng which was a mix of lovely flavours. The portion was very generous in size and I couldn't finish it. Can't wait to go back and try everything else.
C. S.
Fabulous food. Its very popular so book. Extensive menu and generous serves.
You will not walk away hungry. The best fresh produce on offer excellently cooked and presented. Warm and friendly service.
A. A. C.
Delicious and generous portions! Love it good vegan options
A. K.
The staff here were very understanding and lovely. We arrived early (6:30) for dinner and we were seated almost immediately. We did sit in communal seating but our seat neighbours were lovely too. I completely recommend the nacho bowl and the royal chocolate cake that is made of beetroot (so it must be healthy!)
I. D.
Absolutely delicious pizzas and the tiramisu is amazing. Need to go back and try the rest of the menu! Oh and the iced mocha was a perfect alternative to dessert
K. S.
Great spot for vegans and vegos to eat. Had the Mexican burritos, was great was almost too spicy. Partner had the 'chicken' but didn't enjoy it. Very busy, glad they opened up the second dining area.
A. D. B.
The place has a nice vibe and is usually super busy. It's a great choice if you are vegetarian vegan or have any other food restrictions/allergies because they cater to pretty much all of them. They don't seem to add any seasoning, salt or spices to a lot of their dishes, so ask for salt and pepper. Servings are medium to small but the staff is usually helpful and friendly.
A. H.
It's good, but it just ain't what it used to be. I remember coming here in 2000 and a waitress sat at the table and wanted to have a conversation with me as she realised I was a regular. Now, you're put in the holding pen in a holding pattern while the other fools like you wait forever for a table. It used to feel cool, hip. Like lots of tourism, popularity has destroyed it, and the staff can sometimes have an air of self inflated importance of themselves and the place. It's disappointing to see. It actually needs to be bigger, more staff, more seats. Sometimes the food isn't 100% on, either a bit cold or a bit undercooked. That said, if you go during the day when it's quiet, it's back to it's old self... mostly. The food is good, there's no waiting, less rush. It still boasts a fantastic vegetarian menu at great prices. It is a great place to visit, but only go for a lunch during the week.
L. P.
Excellent food and ambiance, the only detractor was that they don't provide any box or bags to take leftovers.
A. A.
Excellent food and enviorement. Great staff also.
S. W.
Fantastic and super tasty food with a funky setting and great staff. This could easily become my new local...
N. Y.
Liked the vegan dhal
Had these in Mumbai as well
Liked Vegie's better
M.
Consistently great food.
L. R.
Amazing Mushroom and truffle oil pizza and lasagne. Great coffee. Warm atmosphere. Great place to be on a rainy day. Excellent.
L. P.
Excellent food and ambiance, the only detractor was that they don't provide any box or bags to take leftovers.
Z. W. (.
always great, fresh food and friendly service. can order using your phone from the table now which cuts out queuing to pay when you're done.
C.
Outstanding. Highly recommend.
We had the samosas and arancini. Sensational.
Main meal, I could have chosen lots of different items.
Will definately be going back.
X.
Well run. Mee goreng lacked zing
A. K.
Lots of good veg and GF options to be sure, but we were a bit unimpressed with the system for getting a table. Once we were seated the staff were very friendly, but the portion sizes of the meals were definitely small for the price. Not sure if it's what we picked though, the burgers were small but the pizzas looked quite big and filling, I'm not sure though
J. B.
Huge, bustling and consistently good vegetarian (mostly vegan even) institution. Have been many times over the last 18 years, and is always good - recent visit last month was probably actually the best yet - keep up the great work!
R. H.
it’s ok! fine food, lovely staff though!
would be around a 3.5 but the weirdly high average rating is making me kick it down to around a 3 to try average it out (no offence)
a. a.
great environment, coffee was good but not enjoy moroccan tagine

Amazing veggie food! And I'm not a veggie! Lots of seating, but doesn't do bookings so get their early if you want to find more than a few seats. Waiting time is usually short and there's a great cocktail bar next door.

Friendly stuff
Good food
Just love it!

Well presented and tasty. Would have been 5 stars if not for their weird and backward policy of not allowing you to take your leftovers home. Such a waste and shame. I've never experienced this in any other Australian restaurant. Let's be a bit more sustainable.
C.
A absolute great experience here. Great vegetarian food and extremely good value. Friendly waiters always ask if you need anything. Place can become a bit crowded at times and parking can be hard to find. But get past that and it's perfect.
j. s.
Food was amazing... went with a large group of veggos/meat eaters and everyone enjoyed their food. No reservations but was able to wait in bar area and a table was ready for our large group pretty quick. Highly reccomend the sangria is a must have to start off

Well presented and tasty. Would have been 5 stars if not for their weird and backward policy of not allowing you to take your leftovers home. Such a waste and a shame. The waiter muttered something about legal issues which is totally wrong. I blame management not the wait staff though. It's 2018 people. I've never experienced this in any other Australian restaurant. Let's be a bit more sustainable.

Best place to go for anything vegan or vegetarian. They have great healthy meals to choose from, been there a few times through the years.
Last time we went we had the dhal meal and the nacho plate. And can’t forget the raw chocolate drink.
Highly recommended for a healthy meal. Great staff and relaxing environment.
M. E.
Yum.
It is Ridiculously Delicious, and servings are very generous.
Words can't explain.
I ordered the Noodles and I couldn't get enough.
The Service is Friendly and the Food arrives quickly.
5 Star Rating from me
R. B.
I can't rate this place highly enough. We enjoyed the lasagna and the open souvlaki and they were both divine. Beautiful environment, friendly staff and delicious food! The only problem was we were too full to try the desserts!
B. F.
As a rule I usually start hyperventilating the moment my wife or daughter suggest we "go out for vegetarian". It's like going to the zoo - yes, the creatures are interesting but you start to feel sorry for them almost immediately.
The Vegie Bar however, bowled me over. No, I wont be changing my omnivorous ways any time soon, but I would have no hesitation in returning to this place.
The food was outstanding, full of interesting flavours and textures, and extremely satisfying.
NB: It is busy and it seems that is always the case, but the service is friendly, low key and quick.
Highly recommended.
J. H.
The food and service rarely disappoints. The front section is quite busy for children, the elderly or hard of hearing. Recommend a seat in the rear courtyard if that's you. No reservation for small groups, but tables turn over quickly with lots of seating. Don't forget to leave room for dessert!
C.
Outstanding. Highly recommend.
We had the samosas and arancini. Sensational.
Main meal, I could have chosen lots of different items.
Will definately be going back.
M. K.
My daughter had been on a Sat'dy night, sure it was busy, but everyone was happy with their meals. She took us for a Monday lunch, my problem is I am going to have to go back as I couldn't choose what to have, and then she showed me the special board and even more yummy choices. And the chocolate cake, that was worth the 90 min drive. Today, the service was spot on, lovely staff, couldn't fault a thing, except I ate too much.
E. C.
Have been here twice now and the food is so good. We have one of their pizzas take away the other day and it was incredible. Great service too!
M. L.
Great vegan dishes, tons of options to
L. L.
Vegans are spoilt for choice . So many good options with desserts too :) the cleanliness is faultless and the staff professional and friendly.
We will be back.
I would recommend slicing and marinating the Zinger burger tofu piece for that bang that spicy food lovers are looking for though.
However ,still was enjoyable .

Awesome vegan/vegetarian restaurant with plenty of gluten free options as well. I went here twice on my trip to Melbourne I liked it so much! My favourite was the soba bowl, which was a glorious and refreshing mix of flavours. The wasabi cashews were a revelation! I only wish they offered a smaller serving size or let you pack up leftovers to take home. The portions were huge and we couldn't finish our meals but it's such a shame to waste food especially at a restaurant with a strong sustainability and ethics mission.
M. S.
Amazing food!!! I was overwhelmed by the options. Completely vegan and they have fabulous gluten free options on the menu as well. Always crowded but well worth the wait, and the beer garden "waiting" area is quite pleasant.
j. b.
Had dinner here last night with my wife and best mate. One word to describe the food and staff “amazing”. Staff were so friendly and accommodating and the food was the best thing iver ever had. Spent all day craving i should got some take out too. Hands down best food I’ve ever had. Everything was perfect about the experience. One negative comment from me is the location since I’m in the se suburbs lol
D. L.
Good place. Pretty lively in the arvo. I had the curry that was on special and the rice tasted like it was cooked, cooled then reheated in the microwave. Also didn't understand how for being a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, the non dairy milks cost extra.
K. P.
Travel from the South East suburb just for their food. I love their food combinations and their matcha latte is my go to for the bitter-sweet flavour.
B. D. (.
What a terrific experience. I am not a vegetarian but my nephew is, so I thought suck it up. The menu is magnificent and offers meals that will trick any meat eater. I had the better than a big Mac vegan burger, brilliant. Wife had a vege luksa, all I can say is, do yourself a favour!
B. T.
I am already craving the samosas and mee goreng and I only had them a day ago. Great vegetarian and vegan food. The staff are great too! Friendly and efficient. The place is pretty busy but the kitchen does a great job of pumping out the meals!
T.
Great spot on Brunswick St but they only had one type of bread they had run out of all others, we were there at lunch time. They couldn't accommodate a relative who only wanted something like tomato on toast, not impressed. Other food ordered from the menu was ok, to expensive for no flexibility.
V.
We are Vegetarians and went there for the first time. We ordered Korean Mushrooms, Tacos and Mi Goreng. The first 2 dishes were quiet good but Mi goreng was not up to the standards and I couldn't finish it all. May be once in 6 months I may be tempted to go back again.
A. p.
This is the only restaurant I've ever been to that is both delicious and Auto-immune disease diet friendly. Great menu and a nice casual/friendly dining atmosphere. Unfortunately like most places in Melbourne It is grossly overpriced. Normally this isn't an issue to me as I understand the greater competition restaurants face in the Melbourne inner city area.
However it's worth noting this place is packed most of the time, there is absolutely no reason why a green smoothy that costs $1- $1.5 (this price is assuming it's cert organic) should be over $10(it's probably not organic as it doesn't say in the menu anyway) . Ridiculous!
I recommend this place only to those who find it difficult choosing a venue that can accommodate their strict dietary needs. Otherwise if you can avoid this place, you should avoid it out of principle because management is disgustingly greedy and money possessed.

Came in on a Saturday night at 7pm and were lucky enough to receive a table straight away. If we arrived 10 mins later, the wait for a table was over 30 mins.
Wait time for food was roughly 15mins which was exceptionally good considering how busy the place was.
I ordered the Greens Stir fry with Tahini sauce on the side. Serving size was good, the sauce wasn't just tahini but a mixture of tahini and what I think was miso. Enjoyable but very strong vegemite flavor. The brown rice was a little under for my liking. The green pizza we ordered was exceptional. Perfectly cooked, not oily, and the base wasn't undercooked either. We also ordered the Mexican burrito which my friend absolutely loved except for the use of coconut yoghurt rather than cashew cream. My other friend ordered the not so big Mac burger and agreed it was better than a big Mac, however would have liked more.
Overall a pleasant experience with some minor adjustments required.
I.
With that without a doubt the Vegie Bar has taken vegetarian stroke vegan food to the next level. With this enthusiastic staff amazing setting chilled out customer's and all round fantastic flavours in the food why wouldn't you want to be a veggie or a vegan. I love taking my daughter 7 and my wife to this joint every single time it hits the money love it love it love it five stars keep it up guys. The takeaway is brilliant.
J. “. M. D.
Very helpful and friendly staff and the kitchen had the meals out in no time. Average food for not so average prices. Little to oily for my palate. Not worth the hype.
R. W.
Best pool ever.
Featured in novels & movies.
Attempted closure by 90's RWNJ government, saved by staunch locals.
Eternal creative tension between hard-core year-round swimmers & fair-weather summer groovers.
Lifeguards rock.
S. B.
Busy restaurant. Food was not bad but little bit pricey. Fresh ingredients, the average quality of taste. Seat was uncomfortable.(table was short so I had to bend myself forward too much when I ate.)
Not bad place for having vegan food with my friends. I am willing to be here agian.
B. V.
I had the most amazing onion rings here which came included as a side with the delicious mushroom burger I ordered. I'm a proud meat eater but I love well prepared plant materials, too, and I can say without hesitation that I'm very keen to head back to The Vegie Bar to repeat my latest happy food experience. The only somewhat jarring note was that I tried to order the burger without the bun and the kitchen refused to make this variation. I had no problem removing the bun myself but it seems like such a waste of food that could have been used for someone else rather than being binned. It's not like I was seeking a discount, happy to pay the full price, just serve sans bread, please! Oh well, it's no big deal but I guess I assumed that TVB had a more sustainable culture than other restaurants. I'm not exactly a regular but I've been coming here for decades and as long as the service, food and vibe continue to satisfy, I'll be back for many decades more.
A. W.
Prices have gone up over the years but that's life! I enjoy coming here, great healthy food and drinks, I usually order the burrito and I love it!
They have a nice outside courtyard and the inside has a nice feel to it too!
Side note: I wish they would bring back the tofu wrap!
M. J.
Always delicious food, and lots of options for whatever you feel like. I will say every time I have been here the service does lack a little and I'm always left feeling like I am bothering the staff which is asn unpleasant way to be. But the food is worth it. I would recommend it despite the service.
J. K.
Yummy food
Great friendly staff
N. C.
Great location, full menu that even non-vegetarians can enjoy as is or opt out substitutes for dairy options, friendly staff and full table service via QR Codes on the tables. Nothing to fault
M. P.
Used to love it, still do but the prices have gone up and the quality down. Ordered the quinoa and tofu burger and it is sooo much flatter than last year when I had it, the filling was very thin (had way more last time). Also the sweet potato chips don't come with a side of aoli anymore, it's an extra $2 - disappointing considering the price has gone up and the quality has gone down. Also with the nachos, everything is really good except for the fact that there is barely any vegan cheese - like one drop ... I asked one time to have a little more of a generous serve of cheese as I didn't have much the last time, the waiter said yes and brought out a little pot of cheese as an extra and then when I went to pay they had charged me for it. Seems really stingy. Bit of a shame, but the smoothies are still good. Won't go back as often.
E. M.
I'm not a vegetarian and opposed the idea to go and try. How wrong I was! Absolutely delicious food, huge dish size, and the prices are reasonable. Food is very fresh and arrives to table quickly. Was a bit disappointed though they removed fettuccine from the menu...
h. b.
The veggie bar has had a bit of a name for its self for a while now.
Atmosphere is great please to have drinks with freinds over nibbles.
I personally found the lighting to dark to fully enjoy the meal. I was not the only one i saw a few people using their phones to read the menu.
Our food was pretty standard.
I had the vegan mushroom burger.
The chips were cold and old.
The burger its self was very nice!
Around my table it was hit and miss.
Wasnt the veggie bar i use to remember
(I had high standards going in becuase of what the menu was like 5 years ago.)
Few better places out there.
E. E.
Lovely food, great service, amazing menu and a large variety of cuisines. Would 100% recommend ☺️
G. H.
Had a delicious meal for 4 here. 20 minute wait at 8pm. Unfortunately the bar was not serving snacks which was a bit of a let down. Lovely staff, lovely food. Amazing atmosphere.
M. B.
even though i am not vegetarian or vegan, we went here for my mum's birthday as my brother, his girlfriend and my mum are all vegan. my boyfriend and i got the mushroom burgers, they were delicious and perfectly filling. i couldn't fit in dessert after eating it all, but i don't have the biggest appetite. everyone even my sister who is quite a fussy eater was happy so I'd say this is a great place for anyone to eat particularly if their table guests have dietry requirements.
J. G.
I've been multiple times. Great service, even in busy times. Incredible food, seriously. Very reasonable price for what you get. Best vegan cuisine around.
J. M.
OMG I love this place! Even if I was into animal slaughter I'd come here like clockwork. It's always packed (for good reason) but somehow the service is always great. Fully five stars!
J. M.
Had such a great experience here on the weekend, Amazing delicious food but most importantly Simple and fresh. Reasonably priced and good service was also few of the other perks of the venue. A local favorite is how one can always tell that a cafe/restaurant is doing it right. keep it up
B. T.
Favourite restaurant in Melbourne! Laksa is to die for; my favourite dish of all time. Always love coming here and 10/10 recommend to my herbivore and Omni friends alike.
G.
Great staff, especially the greeter who kept track of our large party arriving at different times across an hour or so. Food good to great. Different zones from takeaway, bar, alfresco & seated areas. All vegetarian/vegan & since raw options.
H. O.
Fantastic Vegan and vegetarian place! Lots and lots of seating almost always packed! Large servings at good prices - if you're a vegan, or interested in trying great vegan food at all, I highly recommend Vegie bar!
H. F.
Lovely staff. I had the gnocchi with pumpkin and beetroot, which was to die for! Hubby enjoyed his vegie burger though not as much as I'd enjoyed my meal, but he is very much a meat eater.
D. H.
The place was packed and yet we were made to feel like the waiters and waitresses were there for us. They assisted us with menu choices to maximize our experience and satiate our hunger while making it a fun night. Loved it and the food was amazingly delicious!
P. R.
The pepperoni pizza and Laksa is heavenly. We came during peak dinner time. it was packed yet the staff were really attentive and our order arrived quickly. Amazing vegan food here.
m. m.
One of the first vegetarian or vegan restaurants I’ve been to since being vegetarian (and now vegan) for years. It was pretty good, except I despise sweet potato fries and it came as a side to one of my dishes, and they absolutely refused to swap it for regular potato fries. Being obsessed with regular potato, I was pretty disappointed 😢
J. L.
If you think veggies are boring, this place will show you how good they can be. The Moroccan Tagine was so tasty, wholesome and delicious. The Laksa was so full of flavour my friend almost wiped the bowl clean. Friendly and efficient service in a funky setting. Not a shred of meat anywhere for the carnivore in me but left very satisfied. Been here many times, will be back many more.
A. J.
The take away shop should be faster and more convenient for “take away” customers! I just had to wait 15 mins until someone came to the register to take my order. After a while I ordered (another 15 mins or so), I had to approach them again to ask for my order. It turned out they forgot it.. so I had to wait even longer.
Probably it would had been easier to go to the main restaurant or order Uber eats!
Very ineficiente service.
N. S.
I’ve found my favourite Melbourne restaurant!! I went with two devout carnivores and myself (“vegan”) on a Friday night. We all split the onion rings, mee goreng, tempehroni pizza, and the nacho bowl. Everything was amazing. Extremely flavourful, lots of veggies, reasonably priced. The staff (especially bar staff) are very friendly and accommodating. Had a 10/10 experience. I need to come back here until I’ve eaten every item on the menu. In love.
P. T.
Boss of every taste... love it..flavour added in dishes were really authenticated. Apart from food I found it happening place..Grab table infront of glass window towards road won't allow you to dins yourself alone.. wait staff are very cooperative. This place is normally pretty pack so it is a good idea to go early and book your place..
C. P.
Been here twice, twice enjoyed my food.
It is not fully vegan ( cheeses available ) and all so organic / water recycling etc.. only problem is No leftover food can be taken home.. health and safety rules say so but I still don't get why. And why no one is doing something about it. Next door it is still Veggie bar with girls and boys ice cream shop, where you can order food to take away... so I totally don't get it. I couldn't finish my pizza yesterday and I wanted to have it home and there were only No is against the policy. So you a great place with an high percentage of wasted food, that's what I see! I won't come back, sorry but was too stupid for me..
C.
One of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne!
Fresh, delicious vegan/vegetarian food.
The staff always greet you with a smile and are lovely.
D. B.
Great atmosphere, buzzing with ppl.
Great food! I'm not even vegetarian (yet). Highly recommend giving it a go. Yummy variety of food on offer.
Clean and friendly environment.
P. M.
I'm not vegetarian, but I can appreciate a well made dish of any cousin. It's fairly crowded and busy without feeling too uncomfortable. The only disappointing thing is despite the menu few dishes are truly healthy with most loaded with salt.
s. l.
Absolute prime. Best vegan and gluten free food i've tried in melbourne and im not easily impressed. The hemp gnocchi is just amaze, and the pizzas...yum. gluten free pizza bases are usually quite average but this one is actually tasty.
Also the desserts, mind blown!
Very good options for vegan, gluten free and refined sugar free.
Great atmosphere and music too, love all the plants and the art. And the water saving loo, well done vegie bar 🌻
N. J. D.
Good food. Our waitress was great, it was busy so she made a point of confirming everyone's choices at the end. What let the whole thing down was the till staff, who went into meltdown when we asked if it was possible to split the bill. We were happy to have a 'no' and work out transfers amongst ourselves, but were instead treated to some kind of alternative theatre once could title 'Angry Seizure', before being shouted over to a free table to 'work it out for yourselves'... Which we did... In 3.5 seconds, before we returned to split the bill. It was all very strange.
J. C.
Amazing place! Great aestethic and vibe. Went there on my first day of becoming vegetarian and definitely took away my fear of vegetarian food being anything less than meat!
Also very very friendly staff!
Will definitely be back soon!!!!! 😊
S. J.
Massive menu, though food can be bland, however there are tasty classics.
Years ago the Vegie Bar was a little more able to cater to dietary needs and allergies, but a recent visit with friends who are allergic to onion revealed this has changed. The server said that they couldn't cater to allergies. And that most everything on the menu included onion and garlic. Another server corrected this, but still there was a whole lot of confusion about something that can make a customer very sick. Not worth it.
The restaurant is maybe better known for being purely vegetarian and vegan rather than making fantastic food. Times have changed and more venues are catering to vegans and vegetarians. It's a bit of an institution in Fitzroy. Some menu items have been there forever (Gado Gado) but some are out of place at a vegetarian place (a vegie version of the Big Mac).
Parts of the restaurant a very cramped, loud, and inside it's hard to see. There's poor lighting, the toilets are small. There is a beer garden next door where you can wait for a table.
E. L.
The food has always been great here! Service is always nice and friendly. Would have loved to see some simple familiar dishes on the menu, perhaps some renditions of classics. Still, great food and fresh and healthy!
A. P.
so so delicious, they making eating veg such a dream. everything is tasty, filling and i leave completely sated. took a big meat eater here once too and he left a happy camper. go for one of their pizzas!
M. J.
The pricing varies a bit wildly (seven bucks for a juice, 8 bucks for a bottled beer) but you know what? It's Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, man, it's a bit weird like that – at times inconsistent, but always good fun and high quality. That's basically what you're paying for all along the strip.
Vegie bar is hip, delicious, and 100% vegetarian. Even me, a convicted meat-eater, always finishes satisfied with a happy tummy after meeting friends for dinner here. Staff personality is a bit hit-and-miss, but the young British woman who served us last time, on her second night on the job, made us feel absolutely at ease and settled. I've always had a good time here.
L. W.
Food is great, on the pricey side. Always busy during meal times and they don't take reservations so you may have to wait.
D. A.
Iconic casual dining in a busy busy place with a maitre d so not fine and formal in his opshop daggy woolen jumper hanging over a t-shirt to expose enough tattoo to let you know this beardy dude is looking trendy not needy.
He was really nice and attentive, perfect.
The food is varied in its protein choices and styles on offer. Yes pizza 🍕, burgers, wraps, curries, Mexican, soup, salad, juices, smoothies, Vietnamese, Italian,.
They got wheat meat, tofu and others
Great desserts and they got alcohol especially lots of local micro brews too.
The only reason not to go here is the crowds. If you feel comfortable sharing space on a large communal table then youll fit in great. If you want to have a quiet romantic dinner for two, Hmmm, not so much.
M. F.
Great food, great vibe, all the waitstaff were amazing. Will definitely be back. Unfortunately they don't allow takeaway if you don't finish your meal, which is weird as they have a takeaway spot serving the same food.
S. B.
One of my favourite restaurants in all of Melbourne - the food is incredible and i've never had to wait exceptionally long for a table. The staff are super friendly, the venue has plenty of atmosphere and you can even order via UberEats now! Can't wait to visit again - I highly recommend the burrito. x
D. L.
Such a great restaurant with some really diverse options on the menu. Great drinks menu and a lovely cosy athmosphere on a busy winter's night. Best part is that even if you eat meat, you're very unlikely to go hungry or think anything is amiss
S. P.
One of the best vegan joints around
E. N.
Still can’t believe this place is vegan! The food is delicious, especially the sweet potatoes chips and the better than Big Mac! Ambience and crowd is also nice. Definitely coming back
D. D.
Very busy place but oh! The length of time waiting to be served was rediculous. Almost an hour and a half to get a table waiting in their back bar where seating is limited. They were very busy but I couldn't help thinking the wait time was deliberate so that extra drinks were purchased in the bar. The food was ok but not memorable considering how popular the restaurant is. It would have been better if the staff at the door had told us we would be waiting for so long. Will probably not go back.
A. J.
Value for money and super tasty!
s. m.
Consistently great food. Great value for money. Venue, although great, is often cramped and hard to move around. Staff are always friendly. Good location and indoor or outdoor dining options makes for a great summer lunch spot
S. H.
A staple of Brunswick St, The Vegie Bar is always overflowing with customers. It actually is a detriment to the vibe - constantly noisy and crowded, its hard to feel comfortable in this restaurant. The food is also hit and miss - some items are phenomenal, others are less than average. It also fluctuates upon each visit - one day menu item A will be amazing, the next week the same item will be flavourless. At least they are decently priced, right?
N. H.
What i love most about this place? International cuisine, the subtle new takes on classic dishes, the vibe, the selection. An absolute staple for a vegetarian in melbourne. Sure, you usually have to wait awhile and it's pretty crowded but worth it!
F. N.
Vegetarian meals that won’t disappoint. I had the Buddha bowl and kumara fries and they were so yum. They have many options for someone whose gluten and dairy free.
M. T.
Have never been let down by this place. They don't take bookings because they're so busy so first in best dressed if you're going for lunch or dinner go as early as possible. Definitely stop by girls and boys next door for some delicious coconut Froyo.
L. M.
The building is lovely and the staff are great. My partner and I thought the food was lacking in flavour somewhat, but they do have an excellent range of food. Nice place; try the cranberry juice!
Y. G.
Big size meal for the price . But can be add more spices ,very bland test .
J. Z.
Food is great but bit expensive.
T. S. T.
Although the food is quite expensive, it is really yummy. They have some specials some times, which are worth trying. But, if you are going there for the first time, try some one of the classics - mainly the burgers and currys. Try also one of the desserts and an almond latte - they even have a gold one.
O. S.
Godsend for vegan. Diverse cuisine
I had a laksa bowl and it was great.
Highly recommended for a healthy meal. Great staff and relaxing environment.
M. C.
Hands down. The laksa is amazing! Not your traditional laksa of course, but I guarantee you could lick the bowl clean! And feel guilt free!
Coffee and the golden latte is amazing! Cakes are beautiful too!
S. R.
I am not a vegetarian and I even love the food here. The wait for a table is usually a bit long but fortunately you can sit out the back and have a drink while you wait. Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
V.
Lively atmosphere. The “better than a Big Mac” was delicious! The pumpkin gnocchi was a bit sour. Very busy on a Friday night
N. R.
Moroccan Tajine was excellent, beautiful balance of flavours. Coffee good but no skim milk for those of you , like me, who prefer a "skinny cap". Staff happy, service good, menu extensive. Go there!
B. T.
Great food, drinks and service. Highly recommended!

Veggie Bar ..an absolute delight for a vegetarian. Good vegan and vegetarian options, loved the food and ambience. Prices were right too. One might have to wait to get a table, but then what's a bar for? Must visit for a vegetarian
